Our group ordered tempura, paella, kushiyaki and ramen.
Kushiyaki and tempura are cooked perfectly. Ramen soup is rich and noodles are bit soft. We failed in ordering chicken and shrimp paella as it’s nakaka umay.
Next time, I should try their pizza, maki and sashimi.
Service is ok, place is cozy.
John and Yoko is a cosmopolitan restaurant known for its innovative fusion cuisines. We did just ten cart wheels to get there in Greenbelt 5, excited to taste their intriguing dishes. The restaurant adopts Japanese theme in their interior and uses pastel colors which are pleasing to the eyes.
Recommended #YesPAPA dishes
1. Salmon Carpaccio - the cheese surprisingly went well and made each bite creamy.
2. Chicken and Shrimp Japaella - These are slices of fresh salmon soaked in Ponzu sauce, topped with shredded parmesan and arugula leaves! The cut of the salmon is thick, which makes it more absorbent of the taste. This is definitely a must-try!
3. Cheesy Chicken Teriyaki - This tastes like a celebration of love in every subo! You should not miss this one when you visit the restaurant.

We went there around 5:30pm and we're the only customers that time. I guess it's kinda early for dinner.
We ordered a lot of rolls, both tuna and salmon. Dynamite roll is to die for! Salmon melts in your mouth with a little kick of spice in each bite.
Beef cubes are tender and it taste great!
The skewers taste good as well (beef, chicken, and pork)
We also tried their gyudon which i think one of the best gyudon I've tasted so far.
Will definitely go back to this restaurant!
Food: 5/5
Ambiance: 4.5/5
Service: 4.5
Good food for an affordable price. John & Yoko serves a wide range of menu items that somehow kinda difficult for me to choose from (yes I wanted to try most of them).
I recommend their Japaella, Japanese style paella (obviously), sukiyaki, steak, bacon asparagus, sashimi. If you’re a maki lover, best sellers are dynamite roll and crunchy tuna roll.
The restaurant’s interior is modern and use of pastel colors looked playful. Made me wanna decorate my house the same.
Had our family lunch in here. The food was great. Their set meal has a big serving in a reasonable price. Fruit shakes and milk tea were good too. The ambience is cozy and fancy. Its not the usual Japanese restaurant style. Will definitely coming back.
Love their ramen and artisan pizzas. Something I look forward to every chnace I get, although I live a bit far, I would always go here. ❤️ love you store!

The sukiyaki I ordered was superb! Nice place, great ambiance and service too. The place gives off an expensive aura when you pass by it in GB5, but the prices were surprisingly affordable and the food was great. Highly recommended!
First time here. A really different take on Japanese food. Love the sushi but the rice gets sticky when you don't eat it right away. The amount of food depends on what you order. The ramen's bowl is not much but the rice meals are good.
Any of the Kushiyaki selection (or all for that matter) + J&Y fried rice my Japanese fix is okay 👍🏼 Love their take on Japanese food + the ambience. Get seated as far from the door though cos it’s near the GB exit.
Delicious Japanese dishes! I love the new look of John and Yoko as it is more cool to the eyes compared to its look before. Still the same delicious dishes!
Whew! So my friend and I craved for Japanese food while windowshopping! Haha ! Thats why we tried here . And we are not disappointed as we felt the japanese vibe here ! Then after ordering their set meal we are more than satisfied since their serving is good for two already especially the big bowl of ramen 😍
We will definitely come back . Thankyou john and yoko ❤️
Food - 3.5
Ambiance - 4 (very nice interiors!)
Value for Money - 3 (some of the serving portions are small)
Service - 3.5
This is definitely a family Japanese restaurant as they have a wide array of menu to cater adults and even kids!
When passing through Japanese restaurants lane in Greenbelt 5, I am always intrigued by the bright interiors of this restaurant. Last night, Lorenz and I were able to try this 'Japanese restaurant with a twist' as I explained to him. I booked via the Zomato app at 8PM and my booking was instantaneously confirmed! It does not happen all the time, so yey for us! ☺ We went a little earlier than my reservation and we were welcomed as there were many available seats at the time.
We were seated on the couch area and took us a while to order. We were overwhelmed with the number of food available on the menu!
Our server (whom I forgot the name, I'm sorry) was very kind and offered to assist us (maybe he saw us struggling to finalize our orders 😛).
We ordered the following (serving time, around 15-20mins)
- US Beef Teppan - For the meat, I believed I said medium rare, but the server might have heard medium well. I did not complain as we were already hungry at that time. We ordered the US beef, but we were not able to distinguish the taste compared to the local one (that's P100 premium right there).
- John & Yoko - The server clarified that there are 2 J&Ys- the maki and the fried rice. We were not really able to check the food items one by one because of the wide variety of food on their menu. We ordered the J&Y Maki. Some slices are a little too big, kind of hard to eat at one go.
- Katsudon - We were thinking if we should get two different bowls but ended up choosing just one and just order another in case we were not yet full.
Verdict:
Taste - Nothing really spectacular but tasty enough. Oooh btw, the soy sauce for the maki was really salty!
Price - A little pricey.
Customer Service - People here were nice and accomodating. CS is really a huge factor for me whenever we eat outside.
IMHO--A wide selection of food is nice, but mastery of cooking all those dishes on the menu might be hard. I suggest you also focus on the taste of the food. 😊
Still, a nice experience at John and Yoko!
IT WASN’T FAIR!!
It wasn’t fair that it was my birthday when we had lunch at this place bec I needed to pay for half the bill. LOL. Good thing all the food we had was delicious and there were no regrets on it.
The menu has a lot to offer so I’m sure you won’t be transferring to another resto. One bad part of the experience was the serving time. It was very slow at that time. Wish they can solve it though.
These are some of our faves, food was properly prepared and a great value for the price. Try out out our faves- Beef Gyudon and Dynamite roll. We highly recommend it.
John and Yoko is actually quite underestimated for the quality of food and ambiance it has to offer. It’s a great place to lounge back over a lunch meeting or even a simple celebration dinner. The colorful decor and opulent lighting will put you at ease and make you feel right at home.
Despite being a Spanish staple served at a Japanese restaurant, the Chicken and Shrimp Paella surprised us with just the right amount of flavor. The dish is packed with lots of sautéed meat and shrimps, tossed together into one flavorful skillet.
Their Smoked Salmon Sushi Roll was also exceptionally made. It’s definitely not your ordinary sushi. The rolls are drizzled with two sauces (one spicy and one semi-sweet) that fuse together seamlessly well.
Other interesting dishes here are the Chocolate Unagi and all of their pizzas. John and Yoko has definitely managed to integrate a westernized twist on the classic Japanese staples we all know and love.

I haven't seen a high school friend in over 20 years and we were both chatty about each other's lives. Since she didn't want to go far from the vicinity of her hotel, we went straight to GB. Since I have not dined here in ages, and I was the one who chose where to eat, we settled for this fusion resto. I had a Euro Soba (Php 328), which was a basically Soba in rich creamy sauce. I practically scraped my plate as it was really good. I was a fan of the interior that they had when they first opened, not much by this contemporary look though.
This by far is one of my go to places when I am craving for some japanese pica pica! I underestimated the place on my first try thinking that it is just some jap wannabe resto but to my surprise, I haven’t eaten anything here that is below my expectation. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. Ambience is modern but homey. Adequate amount lf serving per plate and price is just right to be able to order several dishes even if you are just a party of two. I love this place.
Finally able to try John and Yoko at Greenbelt. Thick cuts of Salmon Sashimi (php318), Tonkatsu Pork Crackling Ramen (php328), Beef Asparagus (php178). I love their subtle, refined flavours. Nothing over-the-top. Serving size was bit big for me. House tea provided. Great staff.
They also have a promo for guests to review their experience, then they’ll get php100 off the next visit.
Minimalist design + fresh ambience + lovely lighting + unique, futuristic furniture + spacious + plenty of seating!
Food is priced quite high (to be honest, there are better Japanese restaurants that offer delicious Japanese food at cheaper prices) but the quality is still great. Authentic tasting + quality doesn’t fail so I guess you get your money’s worth.
Service is A+.
Highly recommend: sukiyaki soup & katsu curry!
The food is great here, and so is the whole look and feel of the place. Their sushi and sashimi are a must try! It's definitely worth the price if you're looking for a quiet place to sit down and talk with your group or date. A lot of their servings are big too, so each plate can be shared by up to 3 people *considering there are more than just one order.
The place is so nice and cute! So very pastel! Very friendly staff din. The food is really great plus not that expensive. Their sukiyaki is really really good. I recommend it :)
I ordered the US Beef Teppan and loved it. The Tempura Banana Split was also a good ending to a delicious meal. Just make sure to share it with someone to split the calories. I also like how they designed the interiors of the Greenbelt branch. The interiors don't seem to fit the traditional look of Japanese restaurants, but I love how the resto looks very modern and clean.

Late review from my visit last Monday June 12th, 2017. Took family out for lunch there. The first impression was good. Restaurant looks clean, good layout with nice theme of color and arts decoration. Received nice greetings from the waitress as we entered. We started out with Oyster overloaded and Scallop Dynamite, both are excellent starter however, I recommended Scallop Dynamite as my first choice. If you a beef lover don't miss Marunochi.. excellent tender meat flavor in Japanese sauce cut into bite size which is perfect with plain rice. I also added Grilled Salmon to make it a complete & perfect meal. Also several dishes ordered by my wife and daughter. All dishes served look very well prepared and test from good to excellent. Closing with crape & ice cream, chocolate cake and cafe latte. Overall rating is very good. Everyone enjoyed the meal.
Such awesome service! 👍🏼 when I told the waiter the Mango shake was too sour.. he offered to have it changed immediately. I've been here more than 3x and it's very consistent. Good job!
Ambiance - We liked the chic interiors and the lighting in the newly renovated place
Food - We ordered Salmon Belly, Crunchy Tuna Maki, Seafood Yakisoba and Ebi Tempura. Everything tasted fresh and great. We especially liked how the salmon was cooked just right and how fresh the tuna was.
Service - Superb! This restaurant would have only gotten a 4.0 but since their waiters were really helpful and attentive... they get +.5 Hehehe :)
Also, the menu was very extensive. We plan to go back and try other dishes as well.
I've been to this restaurant before, but we weren't too satisfied with their food that we never thought we'd come back again, until a news about it emerged. John and Yoko underwent massive renovation that you won't see a trace of its old design to the new one. I'm not sure if this change includes the revamping of their menu, though. Because of this, the foodie in me convinced me to give the restaurant another try.
My go-to restaurant for my fix of Japanese Food. Service is nice, cozy ambience. Although food takes a while to be served, the quality of the ingredients as well as the taste of the food is great. I would recommend the Salmon Aburi fried rice and Uni (Sea Urchin) sushi/sashimi.
Japanese fusion restaurant in Greenbelt 5. Ambiance is good. Servers seem ultra busy to deliver good service.
Chicken and Beef Yakitori were good. Flavorful chunks of beef and roasted chicken pieces.
Toshiro pizza was also good - with sliced beef, tofu and veggies topoed with sukiyaki sauce.
J&Y Homemade Iced Tea was good - just the right sweetness level. The sweet jelly sake in can was not so good.
Creme Brulee was good too.
Me and three of my highschool classmates went out for dinner on a Tuesday night. I already had an experience with their branch in UP Town Center few months ago. I was a little bit surprised that the ambiance with their Greenbelt branch is different from UPTC (maybe because of the recent renovations).
Here, it's sort of a Rustic-Cozy-Chic atmosphere. I was really delighted that we were able to chitchat and enjoy our stay without any unnecessary noise.
So, let's talk about the FOOD...
Chicken and Shrimp JaPaella- 4.5... Oh, the rice, meat and seafood were cooked to perfection. I'm one of those people who easily gets 'umay' after munching a few spoonfuls of paella. BUT NOT THIS! I love it to the very bit. We were told that it's good for 2-3 persons. I would say 2-3 very hungry eaters because it was more than enough for the 4 of us.
I was also wonderin' why it's called JaPaella- JApanese-PAELLA i guess? Not sure.
Garlic Chicken Wings - 4.0.. This one is on the Sweet-Spicy side but it's perfectly seasoned with the right crispiness.
Samurai All-Meat Pizza- It has Spanish Chorizzo, Bacon, Ground Beef and Pomodoro Sauce on a thin crust. You can still distinguish the meat in very bite. Crunchy. A good appetizer while waiting for the main course.
Ebi Tempura- 3.5... It was okay, I had better with other Japanese resto.
It was a pleasant experience, I will come back to try other dishes :)
After a long day of meetings and expos, my team decided to try the newly renovated branch in Greenbelt. It was different from what I remember in terms of their dark interiors and it made it look like a fusion of old and new Japan.
Their food was a combination of hits and misses when we ordered. The salmon sashime that we tried was fresh as it had good texture in our mouth. Their chicken entrees were tasty as I had the chicken teppan and pepper crusted chicken it was well seasoned packed with enough flavors for us. The crispy gyudon was one of disappointing dishes I tasted, it had more rice than the actual beef. For someone who is weight conscious, the gyudon is not for you. The Petersburg pizza thankfully saved the day as the flavors mixed very well that is not too heavy and considered to be filling for anyone to order. I might consider going back if someone can't decide if they want something Japanese or Italian and this restaurant can fuse their options.

I just simply love their presentation and how fast and friendly their service staff are.
Personal favorites are the Pepper Crusted Chicken with Garlic Linguine, Spicy Tuna Salad, Agedashi Tofu, and their Pizzas.
This is Cosmopolitan Japanese at the very best!

I've always loved John and Yoko--even before it was renovated...
now that it has been renovated, I honestly don't know what to say anymore. The interior looks A-MAZING ✨ it's like when people get a glimpse of their interior, they would then be lured into dining into John and Yoko.
...and when they do, I'm sure that no one would be disappointed because all of the food they serve are really filling (especially the rice meals)
my friends and I got:
-tonkatsu curry
-katsudon
-j&y homemade iced tea (for good measure)
-salmon aburi fried rice
-kutaragi california
in terms of quality, everything was good.
although in terms of the serving size, I wish they would make the serving of the main course and the serving of the rice somehow parallel??
also, it was kinda sad that they ran out of pork gyoza (at around 1pm) when there were so many customers ordering simultaneously.
only gave it a 4.5 because the service wasn't really excellent.

I absolutely love the newly renovated interiors of this place. Modern and chic! It looks more inviting than it used to be. Food and service is good. Definitely going back for some more!
John and Yoko delivered the goods. With John and Yoko revamping their Japanese underground style restaurant to a more family oriented type and changing their menu and lighting , It proved to be a good decision. Their food still has that John and Yoko specialty in them and it was really delictable. Their Sukiyaki is cooked to tastebud perfection. An eye opener for me was their new homemade soda which was not to sweet but still nevertheless delicious, worth going back. Kudos to J and Y. Arigato Gozaimasu for the great food!
John and Yoko is one of my favorite restaurants for Japanese fusion. It has a wide array of dishes---appetizers, salads, soups/ramen, sushis/rolls, teppan/tempura, rice meals etc. It also offers big platters for groups who want to sample different kinds of dishes, and it even has catchy names for these---Big in Japan, There Goes My Diet, and Beverly Hills Blowout. It also serves desserts and drinks (Flavored Yakult, anyone?) The food is reasonably-priced, so it's good to dine here with family and friends.
My only concern about the restaurant is the slow service. I hope something can be done to improve this.
John and Yoko have completely reinvented themselves, opting for an utterly inspired, Scandinavian-esque theme for their ever-quirky interiors. I did enjoy their last theme, however the new look gives the restaurant a very relaxed vibe. The food is just as great as it's always been, perhaps even better in my opinion. I enjoyed the rock shrimp salad with wasabi dressing and the uni truffle pizza. The salad was good with it's faint flavor of wasabi and crisp vegetables and shrimp, while the uni pizza was melting heaven on a delectable slice of toasted dough. The uni was savory and the cheese and truffle complimented the flavor well. The servers were also very nice, patient and accommodating. Thank you for the great date venue. Loving the changes!!
Where the beautiful food attendants are!
Dining in John and Yoko is a complete modern food Japanese experience. I like the ambiance now as compared to the old interior of the resto, it's like the modern meets classic theme. And the food most importantly tasted good and well balanced. I ordered Katsu curry and the serving is quite big and is cheaper compared to unli refills katsu house. I will definitely be back here again.
It has been years since I dined here in this place, and if I can remember it correctly, they had a different concept back then. Looking back, I seemed to have had a great experience, so we decided to still give this place a go.
We got to dine here with a huge bunch of colleagues at work, but we sub-divided ourselves for better management of orders. Hence, what we ended up having was the Salmon Sashimi (P229), Uni Fried Maki (P228) and Sukiyaki (P418), all of which I was able to enjoy.
My only not-so-good comment pertains to the service. It was rather slow, and unresponsive.
(Sorry for the low quality photos.)
Celebrated a birthday here. Food is good enough for sharing. For me, the food offered here is the mix of Sumo Sam and Marcianos.
Rated 4.0, afraid to eat japanese food ? try these cosmopolitan japanese restaurant owned by marvin agustin. this restaurants offers modern japanese cuisine. john and yoko manages to upgrade the japanese food. although this category is not authentic jap dish you can still taste a little bit of it. must try dishes are Wagyu yakiniku, ebi tempura, beef teppan, chicken terriyaki, chicken terriyaki and mango pizza. but unluckily when we ate at john and yoko, almost 50% of their menu is not available so thats automatically 1.0 on service. rated 5.0 for the food specially wagyu yakiniku. 4.5 for the place but it lacks lighting. plating is 4.5 so all in all a grade of 4.
Got the Big Star Salad and the Wasabi Cream Salmon. Both did not disappoint. Though the salad had some unproperly chopped leaves and the salmon was a bit overcooked. Good effort but could be better.
It's my first time to dine in a restaurant at Greenbelt, Makati - specifically John & Yoko restaurant. This restaurant has a lot of seats to accomodate Japanese cuisine cravers like me. As I browse for what to order for my dinner, I am quite disappointed about the price range. But to my surprise after they served the orders, my disappointment was gone. The servings are big and the food taste really great! We ordered the following dishes:
✔ Gyudon - It was served in a big bowl together with rice, slices of beef and egg on top. For me, it lacks of saltiness but the beef is really soft. A bowl is almost good for 2 persons already.
✔ Katsudon - A MUST-TRY! It's been my favorite after I tasted it. The meat is really soft and the whole dish is very delicious. Also served with rice in a big bowl.
✔ Tempura Banana Split - Tempura Banana Split? Yes you heard it right. The banana slices are cooked like the usual tempura - coated with a batter and deep-fried. Then they added 3 delicious ice cream flavors to the dessert.
The staffs, they may not like the usual staffs who greets you "Irrashaimase!" (Welcome!), they are very accommodating. The place is cozy, but it happens to be a bit cooler inside. I presume that the restaurant is still under some renovation since you can still see some tubes on the ceiling. But all in all, this restaurant is a must-try Japanese restaurant in town!
Craving for udon? Then if you ever found yourself in Greenbelt, do drop by at John and Yoko because they have the best Tempura Udon! Not just that the serving is really big, the taste is also good. Not to mention the very-Japanese ambiance inside the restaurant as well as their waiters and waitresses. Their wagyu rice is also recommended dish too! :)
John and Yoko serves yummy sashimi. You might consider getting ramen from another restaurant as this isn't really their specialty. Interesting Japanese interior and chairs. Nice lighting, cozy
I had an impromptu lunch with good friends some weeks ago at John and Yoko Cosmopolitan Japanese. We had a hard time choosing what to get because everything looked so good. My figure conscious friends each went for a salad which they happily shared to everyone: Big Star Salad and California Maki Salad. I liked the Big Star not only because it looks appetizingly colorful but it is delicious as well!
I got myself a bowl of Katsudon. It looks like it lacked sauce when it was delivered so I asked for an extra serving of the sauce. The meat was tender and the meal, overall, was tasty. I didn't get to ask how the vegetable ramen was from my other friend. She was too engrossed sharing her stories with us.
We all liked their dynamite roll.
I thought this restaurant so-so Japanese fare. I was wrong. Try this restaurant if you happen to swing by Greenbelt 5.
First of all, thank you Zomato for the treat! The John and Yoko GC was very timely because I was able to use it for my birthday celebration :-D
And because it was my birthday, I specifically ordered for the Happy Birthday Noodles. And yes, it made my tummy and taste buds happy! Maybe for noodles there is some "umay" feeling involved as you eat more but for John and Yoko's I didn't feel any. And it's because you have these different ingredients perfectly blended into the whole dish. Pair it with your favorite Japanese beer and you are surely going to have a fun, happy gastronomical experience. As for me, everything just screamed "Happy Birthday!"
I'm excited with the new menu that's coming up. I love the Japanese pizza!
If there is any restaurant in Greenbelt I always go back to, it is John and Yoko. I love the modern Japanese ambience! Plus, I love their Japanese version of Carbonara. For some reason, it's really really good! Give it a try!
Simple yet sophisicated. Everytime i eat at John and Yoko's i always feel like im a celebrity craving for that Japanese American kind of fusin in a food. I look forward for my tempura and sushi rolls. Their menu have always been impressed me with their experimentation with food. And as to the simplest form of drink, their water, what can i say but really a refreshing one. A cucumber in a jar full of cold water. Now, who wouldnt want that as a partner for a maki or sushi with friends for dinner or officemates after work :)
The service here is okay. The waiter managed to replace two wrong orders and were attentive to the needs of the customers.
Food is awesome.I like the Western-Japanese fusion of their food offerings. NY Fried Maki differs from the other makis because of its mild crunch. Even without the sauce, it's good. The Japanese Carbonara and Ika Linguine kind of tastes alike. Creamy carbonara with seafood ramen flavor topped with Tempura for JC and Calamari for IL. Kani and Bacon Pizza burst in flavors of crab, bacon, mushroom, pineapple and cheese. Yummy! The least I liked though was the Chicken Tempura which was bland. Choco cream cheese milk tea with gulaman was okay.
Their servings are good for sharing. Overall, I am satisfied with the food we ordered despite its pricey menu. It was worth it. :-)
The John and Yoko concept is very good. In reality, John and Yoko is a Filipino Restaurant pretending to be a Cosmopolitan Japanese place. The head chef is Filipino. If I were to describe John and Yoko, it would be: SumoSam + Omakase + Teriyaki Boy + Snazzy Interiors + Sexy Servers = John and Yoko.
I liked the food because it was suited for the Filipino sweet taste buds. But we hate paying for over-priced food. It would be a good place to have a birthday treat or barkada blowout. I would recommend that you go with family and friends because it would be expensive if you eat only with 2-3 people.
Sunset Prawn Salad: This is a 300 peso salad with only two shrimps, chopped to look like it was more than 2 pieces with a few vegetables on big plates. Learning: Don't order that salad.
Tofu Cheese Melt: This should be described as Fried Tofu with melted Chiz Wiz and bacon.
Crunchy Squid Teriyaki: We enjoyed the crunchiness of this squid appetizer. I would order this the next time around.
Beef Teppan: We resisted ordering the Wagyu because it would only taste like Beef Teppan.
Wagyu Rice: We fell for this wagyu trap. For a small bowl of rice and a little bit of Wagyu (which you cannot tell the difference between ordinary beef). Good for one person. Learning: If you plan to eat Wagyu, don't eat in places like these.
The kitchen has poor ventilation. Expect to smell when you get out of the restaurant.
