This is one of the hidden places in Makati I guess. It's a small place that you will easily overlooked if you're just walking by. But boy, were we glad to try this out!

They serve two sizes of steak. Cow Daddy (250g for 225php and Cow Baby (180g for 185php)

We had them medium well which was nicely done. The meat is tender and tasty. I also had the beef sinigang (95php good for two if you ordered other dishes) It's a tomato-based sour soup, with the beef slow-cooked, it's perfect. We just had to have two cups of rice.

Really good place to get a good steak for a pocket-friendly price.

In my opinion they serve the MOST DELICIOUS AFFORDABLE STEAKS! Medyo late in the game na ako but this place was the reason why I’m into steaks.

I had no prior expectations. It was a non-airconditioned place near Makati Med.

1. Cowdadi - 5/5 (score for the taste + price)
Cowbaby is just a smaller version. They’re prepared the same way.

I don’t prefer this prepared rare. Sa tingin ko you can only pull that off with more expensive, high quality meats. Theirs REQUIRES a preparation in the MEDIUM-WELL-done range. At this point the seared fat provides a very delicious crust. And since their slices are THICK, cutting through your steak reveals a juicy center.

(My cousin separates the fat, and asks the cook to sear it separately for crisp)

The taste is amazing. I think they pre-marinade their steaks which works well. You don’t have to add seasoning or gravy. Although their herb-based gravy is so flavorful and aromatic, I still drench my meat in it.

How their beef differs from other “affordable” (anything below Php 500) resto’s is the tenderness of the meat. The knife effortlessly cuts through the slab with little resistance (albeit tendons/ligaments once in a while).

Based from experience, prime steaks go for around 2-3k+ a slab. You can’t justify the price unless siguro SPECIAL occasion. Cowdadi has made me enjoy good steaks for a very reasonable, wallet-preserving price. After my first CowDadi experience, I started exploring expensive steak-joints. I still come back when I have the chance.

2. Inihaw na liempo 4/5
A different variety of liempo. It’s a familiar flavor; very close to home and tastes like Bacolod chicken inasal. You can savor the lemon-y, sweet marinade and smoked meat. Since malasa ang meat you kinda have to eat it with rice (+ extra rice, hahaha).

*in my opinion the steak trumps this, so you can order this when you’re bored with steak.

3. Chimichurri rice 4/5
Actually it’s a suitable stand-alone side dish. It’s not like garlic-rice where you still need some kind of ulam. It’s well flavored with herbs that’s so well infused, GREEN na ang kulay ng kanin. Anyway, it’s a good addition to their steak.

My only problem is they NEVER have the full menu available so PLEASE call beforehand to check for availability. I’ve been here thrice with their steaks/chimichurri rice/sinigang out-of-stock.

I first heard about CoW DaDi from a friend of mine who is just as much as a foodie as I am, especially when it comes to obscure spots that could actually be considered hidden gems. For steak, I do consider this place to be in that category.

Appearance-wise, it is al fresco dining with tables that could fit around 20-25 people when full. It is definitely not that eye-catching due to its rather dischevelled outdoor appearance. I am not picky with this sort of thing as long as the plates, utensils and glasses are clean - which they were.

Service-wise, it is a very do-it-yourself establishment (except the cooking, of course). It is pay as you order, pick up when your order is ready and all-you-can-drink fresh water from their dispenser, which I did appreciate.
The staff are friendly though, which makes it acceptable.

Food-wise, I let my friend take the ropes as he had already frequented this spot a few times.

CoW DaDi Steak (P220)
For the price, you get 250g of steak that they claim to be Australian beef. I initially asked for Medium Rare but when my meat came out more rare than I liked. I didn't find any need to complain about this since it's not like it was unfixable or disgusting - I simply asked them to cook it some more to a Medium.

They got it right the second time and it came with a nice little gravy on the side, which was good and went well with the subtle marinade of the meat. Of course, it had a bit more tendons than I would have liked, but that comes with the territory! In the end, I was still stuffed and found it to be good value for money.

Chimichurri Rice (P15/cup)
On recommendation, I got this with my steak and it was a nice herb rice that was not too overpowering in terms of flavor. It was buttery and tasty.

Sinigang na Baka (P85/bowl)
My friend and I split this and I actually almost regret having ordered the larger steak. I, however, did not regret this order. The soup was piping hot and was the perfect level of sourness that is known for a Sinigang dish. The beef was unbelievably tender and so good!

Over-all, I am giving this establishment a definite 4.5 for food. I do not mind that it looks rather old or that the service is simple because at the end of the day, it is food that makes me want to come back over and over again. I would definitely recommend this place to those who are looking for some budget steak to fill their tummy.

Cow Dadi is the bestest thing that has ever happened in this country for a long long time next to reclaiming our democracy.

With steaks that is within the price of an average trip to the mall food court and that quality fit for a 5 star rating from Bourdain, Cow Dadi is changing the food game here.

I would personally recommend the cow babies and 2 servings of chimichurri rice, trust when I say you'll be back sometime next week. It leaves you in that sweet sweet spot of being full and satisfied.

Overall. If you're opening a steak house, take pointers from these guys, they know their stuff.

Love their chicken skewers! 100 Pesos only for 2 sticks. Perfect with their anatto rice or chimichurri rice ;) Their cow baby and cow dadi is nice too.

I also tried their kofta best paired with their yogurt sauce. All in al its a great experience at a very affordable price.
