Owned by a friend but truly excellent dishes. Roast beef was cooked perfectly (medium) at just the right tenderness and chewiness. Bagnet skin was crispy and the meat oh so tender. Crispy pata and other pinoy dishes like kare kare are available as well. Main customers are the somerset hotel guests but definitely a great place to hangoutnor get a meal if you are in the area.
Food is pricey but it's really good. The kare2 risotto was 💣. Would eat here again for sure.
They are known for their roast beef. Good Spanish food hehehe

Must-try: Bagnet with Thai Sauce, Abuela’s chicken wings and their version of pinangat. Also for dessert, the green tea cheesecake is a winner.
Although a little pricey, I can certainly appreciate the quality that Abuela’s bring to every dining table they serve. The menu here is straight out comfort food that your grandma (Abuela) might’ve served you in the past. I like their tapa brisket and their cheese steak sandwich. The tapa was thinly sliced, tender and intertwined with sinful and greasy cow fat. The cheese steak sandwich on the other hand was packed with tender beef and sandwiched between layers of quick melt cheese and bread. Whether your taste buds long for American or Pinoy food Abuela’s remains a good choice for me.
First, we had Abuela's Chicken Wings. Due to all the red chili pepper all around it, I thought it was spicy. Good thing it wasn't! Not only is it very crunchy, it's also very tasty. I couldn't have asked for a better dish to start this dinner. Yummy!

Parking can be an issue if you have a big car trying to fit in the small slots they have along Aguirre street. That can actually be said for most of Makati, so I wouldn't attribute it to the restaurant.
What the restaurant does manage is the ambiance, service and food which they do pretty well.
Ambiance: 👍👍👍👍👍
Located on the second floor, the place has a bar, tables, sofas and a more private room. Everything is both spacious, lit just right, and comfortable.
Service: 👍👍👍👍👍
The servers are very attentive and chef Marco likes to go and meet the people eating his food. If you have a question about food or spirits (they have regular whiskey tasting here), he's your guy to ask.
Food: 👍👍👍👍👍
I like getting the Abuela's spreads as appetizer because of the smoked fish spread, the bagnet with thai sauce because who can resist bagnet ❤️, and if you're with a big group - you can't go wrong with the paella.
Overall, I recommend you book a Sunday lunch table for family or a Friday night date with that special someone.
One of the few restaurants in Manila that sticks to the traditional ways of preparing french food without adding any preservatives. Their dishes allow you to enjoy food without having any guilt. The flavors are mostly very light yet satisfying. My favorite dish here is their roast beef marinated with their special sauce that will leave you wanting for more. Their staff here are very friendly and the place is very cozy.
Relatively new Filipino restaurant in Somerset Millennium along Aguirre street.
Started off with coffee for me and a decent Red Sangria for my partner.
Ensaladang Talong was quite good. With adobo dressing. Good that the taste of the eggplant wasn't over powered by the dressing.
For an appetizer/light snack, Abuela's Spreads is just right. It's Melba Toast served with 3 spreads; Queso de Bola with pimiento, pate and smoked fish. All 3 are good and smoked fish spread is really good.
Mechado as our main course was good. Not the best we've had, but decent chunks of tender beef. A little short on the sauce - not enough to soak your rice! The roasted chorizo added to the dish is quite unique.

The movement towards a fast-paced lifestyle has reduced food to a mere source of sustenance rather than something enjoyed among good company. Abuela’s seeks to bring back the joy in dining through slow food made deliberately with care and good intentions. Honestly, this was the first time I felt love through food in a long time. The dining experience at Abuela’s made me truly happy. [Read More]
