Good restaurant for lechon.

I particularly like this branch because it's a few blocks from our office and it helps me get my lechon fix. šŸ˜…

The restaurant is interestingly big for the location. It's well maintained, not worn out like other restaurants. The service is also quite good, even better than most restaurants we've been to.

The food is good. The lechon, specially the spicy one, is flavorful. I have to admit that it's not the best tasting lechon I've had but it's not the worst either. I've craved for other lechon brands but not Zubuchon, at least not yet.

Overall, it's a good place to get lechon. Specially compared to other Zubuchon branches. But that's a review for another time.

After spending a few years in Talisay, Makati, Zubuchon is now across their former location. So if youā€™re wondering where they went, our Cebu Lechon hub is now at the ground floor of Assembly Grounds, The Rise.

My Filipino lunch today consisted mostly of ā€˜lutong bahayā€™ as I missed having that with all the exciting restaurant options around. Iā€™m glad Zubuchon has classic pieces which Iā€™ll be sharing with you in this article.

The Slow-Cooked Adobo gave me fascinating, tangy feels. Pork bellies were simmered in strong coconut vinegar and sea salt, without the usual soy sauce.

Next was Ginisang Monggo, topped with Cebu Lechon and bits of squash. I grew up loving this bowl of comfort food, best consumed hot with rice, on a rainy day.

Thereā€™s the smoky Tinapa Ensalada too, a simple combination yet very addictive. The simplified version of that ensemble was my ultimate pair whenever my mom would cook Filipino dishes.

Zubuchon served their masterpiece while I was happily downing my childhood memories. The trio arrived, a platter of meaty and lightly seasoned, Cebu Lechon in Original, deep-fried Flakes form and Boneless. The latter was my top pick, it was juicy and skin, extra crispy.

I needed all the Aligue Rice (with real crab meat strips) I could handle with all the plates around me. Oh, our table also had some cheesy, Baked Scallops!

Since sweet treats are needed to end a meal properly, we got two desserts! One was Zubuchonā€™s take on the staple, Turon. It looked like Lumpiang Shanghai for they were short, Cebu does it that way. That came with delectable dulce de leche dip.

The second order was much better, a sampler of Visayasā€™ signature delicacies. It had budbug kabug, biko, leche flan, and fresh mangoes. I even discovered a better version of Sticky Mango Rice while having this.

Zubuchon, thank you for coming to Manila!

This is my first time trying zubuchon in manila, to be honest I wasn't very impressed with the one I tried in cebu. However, im much more impressed this time around, the dried fish rice was very tasty, the sinigang na lechon was the star of the night with the tender lechon with the thick and flavorful soup. The lechon was very tasty and the skin was still crispy, it doesn't need any kind of dip. The only let down was the baked scallops. while the parmesan from the scallop was tasty, you wouldn't be able to taste the scallop, it was also very dry...

Overall a great experience, great place to grab authentic cebu lechon.

first time i tried their roasted pig, wasnt impressed, so when i was asked by a friend to dine here, i was hesitant coz in my mind, i wouldnt like it coz of my prior experience.

lo and behold, love is sweeter the second time around - haha, love talaga?! yah get what i mean.

i too was surprised that i was eating one flavorful lechon (roast pork)! i thought i was tricked, so i got the inner most part of said dish - that too was nummy, so i got the outter part and twas even nummier! i was impressed, it really is what anthony bourdain said ir would be, ā€œthe best lechon.ā€

then they had us try their fish tacos. deep fried tanigue fish skin thatā€™s just crispy even after it took us 30mins to take beautiful photos of all the viands we were set to devour. amazingly crunchy and w/ the tanigue salsa or ceviche, ay yay yay it made it even delightful.

the lechon fried rice in itself is a meal and incorporated in that were small chunks of green mangoes to balance out the richness of the rice dish. the spicy lechon sinigang would not back down as that kicker of heat will make you have another serving or two of that thick and rich broth.

as for the pinakbet, it was okay (not bad but okay) i guess, it lost its shine in the sea of flavorful viands that it underwhelmed me a lil. was a lil bland for my palette but the vegs were cooked spot on.

to down all that out, their pineapple shake and kamias coolers are available for the pickin, but sodas (for me again) are the most appropriate fizzle to this shizzle of a menu.

finally, the dessert platter was up for eating and the star of that was the budbud kabug (made from miller seeds, this was an awesome and unique ā€œkakaninā€). itā€™s a cross between puto and suman, yet the coconut milk is discerned as itā€™s flavor base and it was moist, lovely that 2 pcs aint enough for me - a MUST try!

It's true, their lechon is good. The lechon skin was properly crisped and was oozing with flavor and not that fatty. The meat is equally tasty and tender.
Their pinakbet however was too salty because they mixed too much bagoong,

Sizzling lechon experience! I wanted to introduce lechon to my foreign friend and we decided to tru it at Zubuchon. Itā€™s good to visit during Sunday lunch and the place wasnā€™t that full compared as weekday lunch. We ordered the baked scallops, monggo, sizzling lechon (suggested by the Zubuchon staff) and fresh buko juice. I like and enjoyed every taste of all the dishes we ordered. Will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Worth to try Cebu Lechon while you are in Makati! Food is amazing and service is great. They are also selling frozen lechon if you would like to buy for pasalubong- just need to reheat from the oven. The place is huge and located in a very quiet place in Makati. Spacious parking in front of the restaurant as well

We came here before closing so lechon wasn't available anymore. We had pritchon which was pretty much okay. I liked the pinakbet more though. Serving size was excellent for the price. Service was good also as staff were attentive. I loved the location because it's a bit away from the busy makati cbd. I've been here plenty of times since it's near my office. My go-to lechon place.l definitely.

This is a very late review.

I didn't stay here for a long time since I opted for take home of lechon for our fiesta.Ā  Even so, I find their restaurant interior very pleasing, very spacious, and well-lit by natural sunlight.Ā  Their staff is also very accomodating and helpful.

As for the lechon, it tastes superb and exceeds my expectation.Ā  The meat is very delicious with just right enough of saltiness.Ā  The crispy skin also tastes very good.Ā  In fact, it tastes really good even without the accompanying sauce.Ā  It retains the flavor and crispiness even after several hours.Ā  Our guests also liked it very well.Ā  The meat is also that tender that even our brittle plastic utensils can cut and slice though it!

Just brace for lots of cholesterol though :)Ā  Will come back here for sure.

We loved the lechon though the spicy variant wasn't that good, just order the regular one. The pinakbet was great also the sinigang. However the kare kare was a letdown. It was expensive but the serving was so small. Overall it was a great dining experience.

Joel Binamira aka "Marketman" started Zubuchon in 2009. Before that, he was the blogger behind marketmanila.com which dealt with public markets and local produce. His meeting with Anthony Bourdain in 2008 largely due to his well-researched write-ups regarding "The Lechon Chronicles" was ominous of larger and better things. What started as his lament that the old ways of doing things especially in lechon roasting( the manner his lola made it), has been sidelined to give way to "short cuts" which shortchanges the end consumer. He served Bourdain roast pig the way he believed it should be done, with some tweaks of his own. Tony B. was so impressed that he called it "best pig ever." Later, this became the instant tagline of Zubuchon.

Zubuchon is a latecomer to the Cebu lechon scene. Due to the Philippine episode in "No Reservations" featuring Bourdain's visit to Binamira's place in Cebu, lechon was given a worldwide recognition because of the huge viewership of Bourdain's show. Many would say that Zubuchon is not the real taste of Cebu lechon because it is more subdued. Cebu lechon does not require sauce (vinegar at best) and is flavored by tanglad, salt and other spices. Zubuchon prides itself as being more natural, with no MSG and less salt but packed with 15 or so herbs and spices tucked in the pig's cavity. It is supposedly the "healthier choice" in lechon. It uses only organically grown pigs that are sprayed with coconut water and hand pricked while roasting.

One thing Joel Binamira has over other lechoneros from Cebu is that he knows his market. And he did not limit himself to thinking that the Philippine market is the only lechon market. Prior to his blogging days, he was in corporate as a strategy consultant. The taste of Zubuchon is more international in character, so it is correct to say the it is unlike the traditional Cebu lechon. In my opinion, it created its own niche because of trying to be more natural and organic, it has a cleaner taste.

I had the spicy boneless lechon meal which came with monggo with lechon bits (yumm), atchara and rice. It's another stroke of genius that the meal now comes with monggo soup that has a generous serving of chopped lechon pieces that rockets you to neverland once you smother it on rice or slurp it after a spoonful of rice and spicy lechon. The best drink to make your tastebuds go in happy circles is their organically grown kamias shake. And for me, their best dessert is the biko, especially if freshly cooked. The best time to arrive and have lechon is between 11-11:30am and 6:30-7pm when the lechons are just steaming and crispy. TARAEATS!!

Tried it here a few weeks after it was opened so the long lines are expected. The place is spacious and can accommodate large groups at the same time. I also loved the industrial interior.Ā

But let's talk about the food. LECHON! I haven't personally tried to OG Cebu lechon but Manila's version is really good nonetheless. The meat is so savory and flavorful and the skin is heavenly crispy. The servings are also big so it's definitely worth your money.

Try the seafood kare-kare and monggo as well.

FINALLY, tried this! šŸ˜ I've been to Cebu but we never really tried the lechon because everytime we are about to eat, they ran out. WHUT?

We arrived around 11:30 and luckily, we were able to get a table and a parking. šŸ˜Š I'm never a fan of bones so we ordered the Boness Lechon small. Do not crucify me!! It was delightfully sinful but to me, it was like any other lechon. āœŒ Don't get me wrong. It was delicious but then nothing out of this world. We also ordered Ensaladang Talong which is good. It was a bit sweet and not too sour, just how I prefer it. Lastly, Baked Scallops is always a favorite. šŸ˜Š

PLUS, everyone was so accommodating. Service was fast but there were a LOT of flies. šŸ¤”

- Found the Monggo expenssive for its size.
- I'm not a fan of the Makati location, you can smell the sewer outside the restaurant (but not when you're inside) and kinda might ruin your experience.

Food 5/5 (maybe even 6/5 šŸ˜‚)
Ambiance 5/5
Staff 5/5
Service 4.8/5

Conclusion: Everything was great!

We did not just have a meal. We had an experience. And it was the best.

I'm not usually a fan of eating Filipino cuisine outside because my mom is a great cook when it comes to that kind of cuisine so I was really expecting a lot since my sister recommend that we eat here. And Zubuchon did not disappoint.

We ordered the baked scallops, zubuchon sisig, boneless zubuchon, and good thing our server for the night recommended that we try their new kare-kare, so we did! We also ordered one platter of rice cause we thought it was enough for the four of us but then we had to order another one in the middle of the meal because we just had to šŸ’›.

Everything tasted great! Really. The scallops were a bit small but the taste compensated for that, and there were a lot of it. The sizzling sisig was really nice. It had the right amount of spiciness and it's overall taste was delightful (I would recommend you try this out.) As for the kare-kare, you can really taste the real nuttiness of the roux. The variety of vegetables were good and they used lechon for the meat. Good thing we ordered it as well. Lastly, the zubuchon itself was tremendous! Best lechon I've had! It was juicy and soft, and the skin was really crunchy! We all now how the crunchiness gives a better experience when eating lechon!

We also had biko for dessert and it had the right amount of sweetness to eat, plus you can ask them to serve it after your meal. It was nice since it was hot when served, and you get all the sugariness in every bit of the sticky rice.

I'm not exaggerating when I said that this was a great place. It really is. Never have I ever seen my mom have a second serving of rice on her plate and she literally said that is was MASARAP! This came from my picky eater mom who usually never finishes her food. But here, she had a clean plate right after the meal. That's why sobrang sulit ung biyahe!

Overall review: BABALIK ULIT AKO. SWEAR. HAHAšŸ’›šŸ’›

Thanks to all the friendly staff!

We had baked scallops, spicy lechon, and ensaladang talong. It was the perfect set! The meat from the lechon was tender, really spicy, and just the right amount of salty. Crispy skin was generous enough too. The scallops still tasted like the sea, was juicy, and had the right amount of cheese. And the ensaladang talong was just there to lessen the guilt! Haha

Service was really good as well and the place was nice. There were some flies inside but it was managed once the food arrived.

Definitely coming back!

Dining experience here was just great! The staff were very courteous and accommodating. The location is great and the ambience is really good. My parents who are very picky with food was impressed. The Lechon is just amazing, just as I remembered when I first tried it in Cebu. We also love the Ensaladang Kamatis with Tinapa and this new drink which I believe is made with Sampaloc. I think the only concern that I have is that some of the items in their menu have small servings like the Baked Scallops. Overall, a must try!

Finally had the chance of trying their first Manila branch..and finally caught up with Zubuchon again!ā¤

Hands down one of the best Cebu Lechon places, and their menu does not disappoint!

Too bad I was only me..so I'll save the many orders for my next visit..and so..

I came here at an odd weekday late mid afternoon lunch so the place was hardly busy. I like the vibe of the place -- with its red meets wood, whites and blacks--dining hall vibe.

Staff was friendly and attentive. Vinegar dipping sauces and roasted adobo nuts were laid on the table, followed by my order of the lunch set of their regular cebu lechon, garlic rice and atchara.

I also tried their roasted pumpkin soup, thick, rich and heart warmingly food with crunchy bits of lechon flesh.

I washed it all down with their Tamarind Juice, a tall glass of sweet and tart, with the rim lined with rocksalt..it was heavenly refreshing.

Im looking forward to go back here again:)

Nice ambience! We arrived around 9pm just an hour before closing time (they close at 10pm). Unfortunately, we werenā€™t able to taste their lechon because they ran out of stock for the day. :( However, we had it substituted with their pritchon and boy, was it good! Sinful yet heavenly and a perfect beer match.šŸ» We ordered their sinigang na lechon to warm our insides and it was just the way I like it. Perfect sour, thick soup, and soft lechon. Tried their fried lechon siomai for our appetizer, too. This was one a so-so for me. To pair our plain rice and just to add some veggies into our menu, we ordered ensaladang kamatis, itlog na maalat at tinapang bangus. We topped the night off with their lemon grass and lime juice. Overall dining experience was good. The place is clean and we love the interior. I like it that the space is wide and gives that homey feeling. Would definitely go back and bring the whole crew!

Since we've tried it in Cebu, we just wanted to try it here. Plus the place is near our house so it's very accessible. Setup was great (compared to Cebu) and the servers were always smiling (easy to grab their attention too since they were not understaffed). We got there before 12nn and easily got a table.

We ordered the medium Original Zubuchon, Ensalada, Garlic rice platter, Chili Shrimps, Fresh buko juice, citrus iced tea and leche flan.

Food did not disappoint. We were so hungry we ate two platters of rice for four people. We requested for the shrimp to not be so spicy and they were able to do so. They just served the ensalada too early and we had to wait for more than 10mins for the lechon but it was okay. Buko was big so my family wasn't able to consume all of it. Balat of the lechon was so crispy, we had to restrain ourselves to not share to each other cos each of us wanted to eat all of the balat!

Leche flan had a touch of coffee in it (I don't know if it was meant to be like that) so I wasn't so much of a fan.

I just wished they served our food a little hot or a bit warm or maybe because we sat on the couch that was infront of the A/C. But all in all, it was a satisfying experience, especially for my daughter.

I would definitely try the sisig and the chorizo next time.

Finally! Cebu's best lechon now serving in Manila! (I had them for take out) I was wondering why Zubuchon is located in Malugay, Makati.. not in the malls or busy street. Suprisingly, this restaurant has a chill vibes as if it wasn't located in a hidden part of Makati. Anyway, i ordered the original lechon and crab relleno. The meat part of the lechon was so tender unlike other lechon restaurants. I can really taste the authentic-ness of the herbs and spices of the lechon! The staffs are nice that they offered me a seat, a glass of water and plate of nuts while waiting for my take out. šŸ™‚

What I have tried during my visit?
- Baked scallops
- Kinilaw
- Ensaladang kamatis, itlog na maalat at tinapang bangus
- Zubuchon Plain
- Zubuchon Spicy
- Buko shake
- Guinomis

Food: Between plain and spicy Zubuchon, I both like it. The spicy is not too spicy. It has only a kick of spicyness but something a person who has low tolerence with chili can eat. For their ensalada, I am just quite disappointed that I've tasted lots of kamatis and only a few salted egg and tinapang bangus. For the guinomis, it is quite sweet. So if you don't like something that is sweet, try their fruit shakes instead.

Service: Staff are friendly and accommodating. But during the first few minutes of your stay, several staff would ask your feedback immediately on how's their food. Quite bothering for me.

Facility: It's big. Even though the place is full, it is still comfortable. Their restroom is also clean and they have a big parking lot. But I recommend to book a table prior to visiting the place so that you'll have a guaranteed seat upon arrival or you might wait for quite sometime.

Value for money: For their lechon, yes, but for other food in their menu, not so. I am willing to pay for the price of their lechon as it is really good. Something you might be willing to take a flight to Cebu if you are really craving for a good lechon. But for the baked scallop and ensaladang kamatis, I feel it's quite overpriced for the serving size.

Room for improvement: I love the place and I love the food. Maybe my only issue is the timing they ask feedback from their customers and how often it was. Over-all, I would definitely visit the place again and again.

''THE BEST PIG EVER!'' - Anthony Bourdain
Quick Trivia: Zubuchon got its name from Zubu which means Cebu and Chon from the term lechon meaning roasted pig.

Cebu is know for their Lechon and their famous Zubuchon is finally in Manila since last 2017 of March.
I can't believe Zubuchon is only one tricycle away from our office which is located in Talisay Makati, within San Antonio.

The restaurant is super huge it can cater up to more or less 100 pax. They were really the talk of the town when they opened so regardless of the time we visit it would usually be full and you will have to sign up on the waiting list. The ambiance is really cozy and the interior is very welcoming. I like how it is brighten up with natural light in the morning because of the huge windows. It is well-ventilated and the staff are very accommodating. There are a lot of people ordering take outs and I've observed that there were realy looooong lines so if you plan ordering their Lechon for your event make sure you order ahead to avoid waiting for more than an hour.

Food
šŸ½ Ensaladang Talong
Grilled eggplant and tomato salad with vinaigrette dressing P130
Masarap at mura. I just love how the quality of their food makes you want to pay more. Simple dish pero napasarap parin nila.

šŸ½ Zubuchon Monggo P220
Mung beans with lechon broth, lechon, coconut cream and vegetables
I don't eat Monggo as a viand cause I don't know how I'd eat them. Haha. This was my first experience eating a Monggo and I was forced to try it cause my bosses were enjoying it so much that I got so jealous I knew I had to try it. YES, HINDI AKO NAGKAMALI. PATI BA NAMAN ITO MASARAP? AT THIS POINT I was already thinking may hindi ba masarap sa restaurant na to? šŸ¤£

šŸ½ Zubuchon Dinuguan P280
Traditional blood stew with lechon meat and coconut cream
I was surprised how good this dinuguan was. I would usually taste a hint of sourness on every dinuguan I would eat but this one is different.
It's very light and savory. Ito na siguro yung pinakaso-so lang sa inorder namin but it was still good. Naparami ako ng kanin dito!

šŸ½ ZUBUCHON (Traditional or Spicy) P290 Small
Zubuchon's lechon has no MSG, Preservatives, and no artificial coloring. You can opt to have your lechon served in sizzling or spicy aside from the traditional flavor.
The meat is very tasty already that it didn't need any lechon sauce.
ANG SARAP TALAGA. I've never tried an authentic cebu lechon ever so this was another first for my foodventure.
The spicy version is really good that even if I hate spicy food I was able to eat it. Hindi siya yung anghang na basta-basta, maanghang pero malasa. This is something I'd keep coming back for. KAKAIBA. NAKAKAADIK KAHIT WALANG MSG!

šŸ½ Baked Scallops (No Photo) P230
Scallops baked in butter and garlic topped with melted cheese
This is the bomb. One of the best bake Scallops I've had in years.
It's served hot and fresh from the oven the butter were sizzling and the cheese were oozing from the sides of the shell. It's so appetizing and it was really good that the next time I come back, I will be eating this all to myself! ito ang scallops na ipagdadamot mo!

šŸøCalamansi Smoothie
Their Calamansi Smoothie is nothing but refreshing. It taste so fresh which is just the perfect drink to take out all the umay from the tasty dishes.
They offer seasonal fruit shakes or smoothies which I'm really keen to try more of. On my second visit they had kamias and longgan shake but we weren't able to try it cause I still ordered the Kalamansi Juice. Haha!

Ahhhh I just can't wait to be back again for their lechon. Huhu.
šŸŒŸ The quality of the food is really good, walang tapon lahat masarap
šŸŒŸ The ambiance is nice, cozy and it's spacious
šŸŒŸ The pricing is unbelievable. One order would only cost your below P300 or P200. Beware lang cause minsan mapapaorder ka ng marami kasi bitin kapa akala mo mura, magugulat ka nalang 5k na ang bill mo cause what happend to us. Lol.
šŸŒŸ Easy to navigate and the parking space is huge
See ya soon Zubuchon!

My wife and I went here on a Saturday Dec 30 so it was just half occupied. I like that the seats/tables are properly spaced and not cramped. There are a few decors too, matching their red logo.
We ordered their small serving of original lechon and baked scallops. I like that they served the scallops first being as an appetizer. It was a bit small but can't complain because of the cheap price. It had too much cheese for my taste. The main highlight, lechon, definitely met my expectations. It was soft and tender, but the skin was very crispy and flavorful. I think the meat could use a little more salt although the vinegar can make up for it if you want more šŸ‘Š.
Service was great! I always love waiters refilling my water without me asking. Our waiter also was smiley which helps make a better dining experience. I'll definitely come back with my family to be able to order more dishes :)

Boneless Lechon (medium) is good for 2-4 people. I like it better than the Classic (with bones) cause it gets you more fat and balat. Crispy and the meat is tender. šŸ‘ŒšŸ½

The scallops are still too small for my liking so I ordered 2 instead. Or maybe itā€™s just me and my insane addiction to baked scallops.

The pinakbet is also ok. Nothing too special but itā€™s not bad also.

Serving time is less than expected. We arrived just in time before the wave of other customers did, around 7pm on a Sunday night.

I love the food (specially the scallops), the ambiance (feels like the 5 star fine dining restaurant) and the manager (super cool, he took pictures of us and even ask if we are enjoying the dinner). The downside is that some staff are not even smiling and not too hospitable. šŸ˜‚

Classic family Sunday restaurant, arrived at 11:30 and the place filled up quickly soon after. Ā Must try in my opinion is their singing na lechon and rellenong bangs. Ā Their dessert assortment is quite impressive too. The lechon, well, lechon is lechon. Pretty average to me but it'll stand it's own ground. Ā Reasonably priced too.

Its classic and worth the money. I wouldnt think of any lechon food house i would go to when the barkada invites fiesta foodtrip. Malupit ang lechon dito.

Ps. Mejo mahal talaga ang lechon, this picture is the medium size order ng boneless lechon, pero mapapahinay ka sa pagkain kasi u know its Taba, di mo alam nabubusog ka din. Samahan nyo po ng the best na pansit guisado and pinakbet, im sure youā€™ll love it. šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘ āļø āļø āļø āļø

Worth every peso. šŸ˜ I've been to cebu and tried some of the local favorite brands, they are all different when it comes to taste but they have one thing in common they are all delicious. For Zubuchon I find it that they are the kind of "healthy" lechon, from the taste of it you will know the difference. We also tried they're Sinigang Lechon, thick sour broth that compliments the lechon. Overall I was very satisfied and will definitely come back here. And oh, how can I forgot every staffs good service. Wonderful experience here.

ORDERED:
Original Classic Lechon - a bit salty but the meat was tender and you can eat it without the typical Pinoy lechon sauce, a must-try
Orginal Spicy Lechon - not spicy enough
Ensaladang Talong - a great combination for the lechon
Pansit - typical Pinoy pansit, nothing special

AMBIANCE:
There were a lot of people and we waited for around 15 minutes before getting a table. The place is spacious but a bit noisy.

STAFF:
Very friemdly and always smiling despite the busyness. :)

Sunday lunch. Craving for lechon.
Suggested to my hubby we try Zubuchon.

Wow! What a dining experience.
We ordered the boneless lechon, ensaladang talong & a rice platter.

Food: The boneless lechon has a crackling, crisp skin & the meat was so tender. The ensaladang talong was so fresh & was a perfect pair for the lechon.
Service: A-ok. The crews made sure we were satisfied. They checked on us 3x.
Pricing: Just right for the serving size.

We even ordered a set meal of the classic lechon & ensaladang talong for our daughter. Will definitely bring the rest of the family.

Lots of clients, long queue, so be early or make a reservation.

Happy tummy!

As promised, brought the whole family.

Tried their baked scallops, sinigang lechon, crab relleno (a bit dry), kamias shake, grape shake, & of course, boneless lechon & ensaladang talong.

Another happy tummy dining experience!

We arrived at Zubuchon Makati by 12 noon and as expected, the place is already full. We we're 4th in queue and was advised that we'll be seated in about an hour but managed to shorten to 30 minutes (not bad, considering I reserved for 8 seats).
The servers are courteous and nice. I ordered quite a lot but they were able to serve it in 15 minutes.

While waiting for the orders, i took my time to observe the place. It's clean, simple, and nice. Room temperature is good, not too cool; just enough to coolen our bodies without affecting the food too much.

Food-Price-Rating-/comment:

Zubuchon sisig 220 - 4/5
Bangus sisig 260 - 4/5
Zubuchon sinigang 320 - 3/5 A bit too sour
Ensaladang kamatis blah blah with bangus 200 - 3/5 Overwhelmed by tomatoes, but it tastes good.
Ensaladang talong 130 - 3/5 There's a touch of vinegar, quite not used to it
Pinakbet 190 - ?/5 I honestly forgot to taste this coz was busy digging on lechon haha
Zubuchon Original (large) 880 - 5/5 I prefer the crispness of Zubuchon than Elar's but for the meat itself, I think it's a tie.
Zubuchon Boneless (large) 880 - 5/5 Same with the original but I think this is from the belly part, not much difference but the original is more flavorful.
Plain rice platter 90 - 4/5 nicely cooked
Pancit 240 - 4/5
Three citrus iced tea 195 - 5/5
Guava iced tea 180 - ?/5 I bought this for my friends, they said it tastes weird but it's good. Lol, will order it for my self next time.

Overall experience for me is 4.5/5
Will definitely dine at Zubuchon again. Gonna miss this when I get back to S'pore.

Very nice place! Their place is so cozy. The high ceiling and glass partitions add to the cozy-ness and peacefulness of the place. So far with my experience, this is the restau that has the best interiors! You'll really enjoy here not only because of the place but also the quality of their food. We ordered baked scallops, seafood kare-kare and their original lechon. It was all sumptuous! Will definitely come back!

The place was spacious and clean. Servers are nice and always ready to accommodate our request. Prices are reasonable tho the price of their Lechon here is much higher than the one in Cebu. The taste is a bit different from what I usually eat in Cebu but I still like it. We arrive 8:30PM were a group of 7. All the orders arrived within 20 minutes. My only disappointment was our large platter has too many bones and the skin was not crispy, we also ordered medium platter it has alot of bones too. I suggest come early so you'll have the better portion (probably you'll get the lesser bone).

Maybe, Anthony Bourdain was right when he dubbed this as "the best pig... ever".

Also, Mark Wiens' reaction on his first taste of the crispy skin was, indeed, inspiring.

And here we are trying the famous Cebu Lechon by Zubuchon in Makati.

I don't intend to make this long. All I can say is that their lechon made me drool.

Worth the try and we will definitely go back.

Finally got to try this in Manila. 2nd time I've eaten in Zubuchon, the first being in Cebu. I must say, I love their ambiance. Of course, what's eating in Zubuchon without ordering the Zubuchon Original (they have it in spicy). The dipping sauce makes it very tasty - soy sauce, vinegar and calamansi, very different from Manila lechons. It tastes good as I remembered it. Pair it with Ensaladang Talong and you can never go wrong. We wanted soup so we also ordered the Shrimp Sinigang and it was very sour, how I like sinigang to be. For rice, we ordered the Five Pork Fried Rice, their signature rice. MUST TRY. It's a meal in itself with crackling pork, green mango, and a whole lot more. Pairs great with any viand.
As a refreshment, I tried the Kamias Shake. Also a must try.
Although the place is quite big, it gets full during dinner, so make sure to either go earlier, or call for a reservation.

The place is spacious and have a calming aura. The staff are very nice and attentive. Now let's get to the main part "THE FOOD". The plating are very classy and beautiful and the food are delicious but somehow lacks flavor. The thing that I don't like about their menu is the serving (very very very small servings) not a very generous amount. Good for dating only not for family bonding. Overall still a must try :)

The pig that Anthony Bourdain made famous and One of Cebu's best lechon. Finally, can be enjoyed in Makati. The restaurant is bigger and cozier than any of the branches I've been too in Cebu. Zubuchon is not your typical lechon. It's insistence on using only natural spices and cooking makes it similar to Bali's famous babi guling.

Haven't eaten zubuchon in a while so it was great for them to open a branch in Manila. We went a bit early so we can be sure we can be seated right away. We ordered their small spicy lechon. It was enough for 2 and the spiciness was just right as it gave the right amount of kick. The meat was soft and tender and the skin was still crispy. Also, we got their baked scallops. It was ok, nothing exceptional. Plus we added their ensaladang talong which was also good. Eating here really took is back to our cebu days.

Speechless:
1. Decor so on point! Additional cookie points for the vases full of roses and the garden!
2. Food did not dissapoint. Looking forward to coming back soon to try the spicy lechon. And the ampalaya ensalada is so yummy, not bitter at all!
3. So easy to get a table even if we dined on Father's Day.

Zubuchonā€™s claim to fame is the declaration of celebrity chef and travel show host Anthony Bourdain that they serve ā€œThe best pigā€¦ever!ā€ In fact, they are milking the line for all itā€™s worth by even printing it all over the restaurantā€™s wallsā€¦lest you forget.

All good!. In my book, this is not the best Cebu lechon I crave for but in Manila, this gets 2 thumbs-up from me. Their lechon is expectedly good, but I did not like their spicy version as much. Their other dishes were also great like the adobong kangkong, salted egg ensalada, gambas adn surprisingly, the squid rings. I was also amazed at their desserts. Their biko was the bomb and their mini bibingkas very nice as well. Food is cheap on the overall for such fine quality. Maybe P350/head would do it.

I've always been a little disappointed in Lechon from Manila. Very bland and you needed sarsa to make it taste like...sarsa. When I would cook a turkey for Thanksgiving, my wife's niece would say it tasted like lechon.

Then I went to Cebu and had lechon there...but not at Zebuchon. Very tasty, not bland.

Zebuchon boneless lechon is well flavored with enough skin to make everybody happy, allnicely and neatly cut. Pikakbet was good and the rice was rice. Excellent meal, all in all.

This restaurant is very nice, it could be in LA or Chicago or New York. Clean and modern and big.

Very attentive staff...and the best lechon in in Manila.

This is not a place you can visit everyday.
Otherwise, be ready to feel a vein pop in your nape.

The prices are surprisingly high, especially the solo plates, which is another reason why I won't go here often.
Although it's better to have company since they have lechon cuts good for 2-3 persons.
Their seasonal Santol Juice is nothing special.
So I saved you 90 bucks.

Overall, the roast pork cuts are good.
Maybe it just needs more grease.
I still think Anthony Bourdain hasn't really found the "best pig ever".

Suum cuique.

I initially thought that this resto is reasonably priced, but saw that the servings are smaller than I thought they were in the pics. The best lechon in town. You don't have to worry about the crispy pork skin. Its crunchy as always. The meat of the pork has a pinch of saltiness. The meat is soft and easy to slice. The scallops is creamy because of the melted cheese. The scallops is also soft. The squid is yummy and also the filling inside has a small portion of chilis that compliments the taste. Also try the kalamansi juice that compliments the pork.

Pork, pork, pork, and more pork. Ordered here the spicy and regular lechon. the former is better for me. Sinigang na lechon. for the drinks and dessert, kamias shake and budbod. Though im an ilonggo, i have a keen taste of the lechon back at home. Im not quite sure if the ilonggo lechon is much better or if you had tasted the kalibo lechon that of Ramboys.. Summary: COME EARLY OR THERE WILL BE NO LECHON

We got here only to find out that they did not have lechon anymore. We came back earlier the next time around, but still no lechon.

My rating is for the non-lechon items in the menu. Sinigang has a weird taste and texture. The lechon sisig was just not good.

Manager was rude too, cutting us off in conversation while we were inquiring about the absence of lechon.

Either I'm unlucky, or this is just hype all over.
