The house of the best Philly Cheese Steak in Philippines!
Napakasarap tlaga nyan mbabait ang mga crew lalo na c mam diane....
Classic Philly Cheese Steak 7" is good! The quality of their beef and cheese still stand out, making their cheese steak's flavor legit. My last and last last visit are years apart and the food quality was still the same. It was also nice to get to talk with Manager Diane; she was friendly and informative about their business. Chicken is next on my list!
You can also watch television here but you should face towards the entrance windows. Parking space is kinda limited but I suggest trying around the place; I wouldn't even mind parking at Makati Cinema Square and walking. It gives me a reason to visit Dunkin Donuts. π

you can never go wrong with the classic philly cheesesteak. if you want to be sinful add some bacon! haha then pair it with cajun fries and a soda.
Quick tip: This is a great place to outfit a Superbowl party for cheap.
The Good
I'm not from Philly but I've been there a ton of times, eaten out of the best food trucks and all that. This is not that kind of cheese steak, this is more of a west coast diner style cheese steak. That said this is, by far, the best cheese steak in the Philippines. I know that is not saying much, but its still really good for this country.Β
For watching sports with a beer, I really like and recommend the nachos in this restaurant. No other nachos I've had in the Philippines uses decent quality beef at this price point. However, you need to add Β some salsa, sour cream and guacamole yourself, so best for take out/delivery.
Their Italian hoagie is really good. Premium imported meats in great quality, actually tastes like a sub I might pickup at a corner deli when I lived in Manhattan. If my day is going to be crazy, I sometime pick one up to stash in my office ref to lunch while I work.
Price is really good here, bordering on cheap. For imported US meat cheese steaks, other places are charging double for lesser quality/quantity. Most of their menu items, aside from fries and a couple other items, I consider cheap or fair for the quality. Not all, but most.
The Neutral
I went to college in Ithaca and I've lived where its grey. I know and have gone around Western NY, I've eaten Garbage Plates, been to many a Bills game in the tundra so I know what the best world standard Buffalo Wings taste like. The Buffalo wings here are not great. They are more like the wings you get in Northern California. They are passable but we've got much better wings here (finally!) However, the wings are cheap comparatively, so I still buy them sometimes when I don't need great wings.Β
The Not so Good
The meat ball sub is really disappointing. When I ordered it I was expecting a normal sauce and mozzarella sub. Instead I got some weird thing made of dry meatballs, drenched in yellow cheese sauce in a hard roll. WTH is that?
The parking here is terrible. If you have any kind of large SUV and no driver, just skip this place. Even a mid sized SUV is a very tight fit. Its better on the rare times their food trucks are out, but most of the time this parking lot is the worst in Makati.
I always see this when going down the Skyway. So with a long lunch break I decided to walk here.
Ordered the 7" 4 cheese cheese steak sandwich and the bacon and cheese mac and cheese. Everything for take out. The sandwich was a bit overpriced at Php 320 but nonetheless delicious. The mac and cheese was amazing I wish the portion was bigger for Php125.
The staff were accommodating and very polite.
Would I come back here? Or at least order for delivery? Definitely.
Good flavors - tasty beef, easily combo'd with chili, cheese, and bacon - but a bit thin on the filling. At P320, I didn't feel it was sufficient.
The deep fried Oreos, served nicely a la mode, were not freshly made, so I was a bit disappointed - only a bit.Β
A nice addition to the neighborhood. They should do a bit more to promote their presence, as their location isn't easily noticed by pedestrians walking on Amorsolo, and they only have a few parking spots, accessible from the rear side of their building.
Authentic and well worth the price. This is for real Philly Cheesesteak fans, plenty of meat great peppers and the cheese was plentiful. I wish they had more locations. The even have a rice menu for those who cannot live without or know how to eat a sandwich. Great selection of sizes and variations.
The menu is quite simple and direct, which is great. The Cheese Steaks are AWESOME! I have high expectations for my Philly cheese steaks, and The Cheese Steak Shop definitely, definitely delivered.Β
My friend and I walked in as they were closing and already had chairs on the tables. They still served us with excellent attitudes even though you could tell they were exhausted from a long day.Β
I ordered the Classic Philly cheese steak with onions and peppers. The steak was seasoned to perfection and the soft Italian roll hit the spot right. Best cheese steak I've had and fantastic customer service to make the experience all-around superb.
Now with rice meals, The Cheesesteak Shop Manila maintained its quality and taste. I love their classic philly cheesesteak sandwiches with loads of free chili peppers on the side. The zing of sweet and spicy pickled peppers brought me to bliss instantly.
Hoagies that melt in the mouth! To go or for dine in wont go wrong with cheese steak. All bread and ingredients are imported from Philly! Try this resto for a cheesy meal #yummiez
#TheCheeseSteakShop! Now this is a true to the taste meat sandwich!
They are hiding at Amorsolo Makati, quite near Don Bosco and right across the Skyway exit from the south. A caveat though, it's not as hefty as that of the U.S. serving but the bread and the taste will do for that #PhilliCheeseSteak craving.
The place is very casual, the staff here are nice, and they have free parking. You'll smell like food after you leave, but it's worth it.
THE KING OF PHILLY (5/5) is fantastic! It's pricey, but its huge portion is best shared with someone. I love that they don't scrimp on their steak portion. The steak is juicy, tender, and tastes so damned good! The cream cheese is authentic, and perfectly blends with the meat, onions and jalapeΓ±os. I order this every single time I come here, and am always very satisfied.
Their fries (3/5) are decent, though nothing really special there.
I only wish they had more locations.
The Cheese Steak Shop serves one of the best cheesesteaks here in Manila. The is very soft but not soggy and the sliced meat are very tender in every bite while the melted cheese is the classic velveeta that best accompanies this sandwhich. The shop also offers rice meal items and even offer breakfast food. Overall, the cheesesteak sandwhich is the closest to the ones from Philadelphia's Pat's Cheesesteak!
Mucking Around Manila
+3.5
When mucking around Makati or BGC there are so many reasons why you should pay The Cheesesteak Shop a visit: the Cherry Cokes, the cheesesteaks that use imported ingredients and are reasonably priced, the board games to pass the time, and the handicapable staff that you can't help but smile at - Jorelle's positivity is infectious! And, may I add, habit forming!
I would always pass by The Cheesesteak Shop whenever I find myself in Makati and it finally piqued my attention when its newest branch opening at The Fort Strip. I had dismissed the place as another greasy sandwich shop, but after doing my homework on the place I thought I'd give it a go the next time I venture near it.
The original Philadelphia style sandwich shop has been on my "to try" list for quite some time now, and the Cheesesteak god with his flying hoagie in the sky must've heard me, for I was pretty stoked when I was asked to come by and try their newest dishes.
Brunch started off with drinks and - what do you know - the Cheesesteak Shop serves the elusive Cheery Coke and Cherry 7-Up. What's better than a Cherry Coke, you ask? Why, a Cherry Coke Flat, of course! And that's exactly what I got.
We started brunch with orders of Fried Cheese Steak with Pizza Sauce (7"- P320; 10"- P520; 15"- P850). I was very hesitant to try this at first, since in my head deep frying a cheesesteak seemed like blasphemy - something Philadelphians would outlaw and have you hanged outright for. Yet to my surprise, this was my favorite dish of the afternoon.
Biting into the ginormous kariman-looking monster, the first thing you hear is the crunch, crunch, crunch of the outer shell. The Amoroso roll was still super soft on the inside, and the cheeseteak center was piping hot. Speaking of piping hot, I love that the Cheesesteak shop has hot and sweet peppers at the condiments station. My sandwich was topped with lots and lots of hot peppers before getting a generous smothering of tomato sauce. Mmm... I can see what they mean when they said this stuff is addicting.
Next up was the Cheesy Chicken Cheese Steak (7"- P280). The grilled chicken option is a lot milder and probably a lot healthier than the regular cheesesteaks. the most prominent flavor I got with each bite was the rich cheese sauce on top. I can probably polish off a 7" portion on my own, as long as it came with lots and lots of hot peppers, although the cheese sauce can be a bit overwhelming.
While I'm on the topic of their sandwiches, I have to profess my love for their Amoroso buns! They import almost all the ingredients at the Cheesesteak Shop, giving it that All American taste. Case in point: their hot cross buns - it doesn't have that sickly sweet aftertaste you'd get with most breads here.
For the folks who don't consider a meal a meal without rice, there's the Cheesesteak Rice (P170) that has grilled US Steak slathered in your choice of American Cheese or Cheese Sauce with Garlic Rice. I found the garlic rice a bit lacking in the garlic department, but the staff at the Cheesesteak Shop quickly fixed that problem for me. The Cheeseteak Rice with Cheese Sauce wasn't anything really special, in my opinion, although the beef was really tender.
Things looked up with the Cheeseteak Rice with American Cheese, which I think was Provolone. The flavor was creamy with just a hint of sweetness, and the melted mess looked downright beautiful on my plate.
Cheesesteak Rice with American Cheese + hot peppers + Cherry Coke = So much win!
This place left me pleasantly surprised. Another surprise was that they also hire what I like to call "handicapable" staff. Like the super cute Jorelle, for instance, who is deaf, but works the cashier, and always with a smile on her face. This was a great opportunity for me to practice the very limited ASL (American Sign Language) I picked up from watching episode after episode of Switched At Birth.
Manila's Philly Cheese Steak scene just got interesting...
This shop brings a good mix of options to the already-popular cheese steak offerings of Elbert's Cheesesteak Sandwiches and Charlie's Cheese Steak Sandwich.
The ambiance is very American Fast Food. The walls are decorated with photos of various Cheese Steak Shops in the US. When I saw the restaurant's slogan "Caution: May Be Habit Forming!", a thought bubble popped into my head: "Talaga ha, masubukan nga..."
I love it when menu prices indicate net prices already (including VAT and service fees). I hope more restaurants do this. It is just easy to calculate.
I ordered the Classic 7" Cheese Steak. Sadly, I made some technical missteps in the consumption of this sub:
I took pictures of it for far too long. The sandwich cooled down and, somehow, the taste was not there anymore. I believe it is best eaten while it is hot.
I requested to have the sweet and chili peppers placed on the side. I should have asked them to top the cheese steak with the chili peppers along with the onions.
My wife ordered the Spinach Cheese Steak while our dazer friend, ordered the Deluxe Cheese Steak.
SPINACH-Steak Philly Cheese Steak with Spinach and Mushroom (7") - I liked the spinach with mushroom version. We regret not including the peppers in the sandwich. I really enjoyed the sweet and spicy peppers on this filling.
Steak Philly Cheese Steak with Pizza Sauce and Mushroom (7") -I got to taste the Deluxe as well. One thing I liked about it was the pizza sauce! The flavor was just spot-on.
Steak Fries, Garlic Fries, Twister Fries and Onion Rings - The owners asked us to try the different sides. I personally like the garlic fries, which is the same kind of fries available in most American baseball parks.
Side Salad - We also love that they serve different kinds of salads. To our surprise, they even have a Vegetarian Cheese Steak on the menu. Good move!
The KING of Philly - 10-inch Classic Cheese Steak with over 50% more meat and cheese - If you want to share, I suggest you order this super-sized 10" version with more meat and more cheese. Luckily, we were able to take a picture of this from someone who ordered it. :)
Classic Philly Cheese Steak (15" long ) - The Ultimate Version is this 15"-long Philly Cheese Steak! Order this if you want to share among 3-4 people, but order the King of Philly if you just want more meat and cheese. In my opinion, the 7" sub is good enough for one person.
Overall, I love the steak, the preparation of the chili peppers and the subtle taste of the cheese they use. I don't like the bread, though (sorry).
It's great to see Manila getting pampered with original international franchises. I hope there are more entrepreneurs who would invest in these opportunities.
