Toyo from beginning to end was lovely. Steve our waiter was fantastic, extremely knowledgable about every single element of the dish and he was a delight! The food was beautifully presented and each course had a unique Filipino touch to it which made this place something special for us. The decor is simple but effective and the sharing tables are a great idea - can't fault it! If you're in Manila, stop by.

My new favorite place.... gave my palate the much needed break from all the traditional food I've been eating this Christmas season.... Simple food turned into fun, exquisite gourmet... awesome food experience better than the Michelin restaurants I've been to. #filipinogourmetatitsbest

I've been here a few times and it has become my go to place to take out of town friends.
Amazingly prepared Filipino nouveau food and I love the explanations of each course when it arrives. It is an affordable chef tasting menu and it doesn't disappoint ever. I always leave the restaurant fully satisfied and almost always, ate too much.
Definitely one of my favorite restaurant in Manila.

Toyo Eatery's tasting menu is definitely worth every single penny! A lot of interesting dishes too! Such as the "bahay kubo" salad which literally has all the vegetables mentioned in the popular folk song in one dish [the server was cool enough to sing us the song which made it more experiential btw]. Ambiance is 5/5. Overall, it was a very good dining experience.

6 out of 5 stars! No words to describe such a great dining experience. Food was excellent and out of this world. Service was also excellent in where they describe every dish that was served. Ambience was also excellent in where everything just worked perfectly together.

There is a reason why this place is in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurant! I tried the tasting menu and it was phenomenal for the Metro Manila scene. It’s very hard to book a table here so consider booking in advance! And the cocktails in their bar are seriously our go this world. I would even go here very day just for the drinks! Lol

Toyo Eatery is not the usual fine dining experience. It has a more laid-back vibe which makes customers feel relaxed and at ease. The dishes are based on Filipino cuisine. Each dish has a different story and the flavors are not only ‘improved’ Filipino flavors, the combination of ingredients bring out a delightful surprise to the palate. The staff were accommodating, friendly and funny. Toyo Eatery also has a bar which serves cocktails based on Philippine ingredients and flavors.

We were interested in trying out their tasting menu but as soon as we knew of how much it would cost, we backed out. However, as soon as the news broke out that Toyo Eatery is the only Philippine restaurant part of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2019, we knew we had to get a table reserved!

Divided into 8 sections, the tasting menu consisted of: Snacks, Mga Kilaw, Soup, Pampalamig, Buro, Banana "Catsup", Silog, and Desserts. At the top of my head, the memorables would have to be:

Rellenong Pusit - As it is, rellenong pusit is already one of my favorite dishes and for them to elevate it into a whole other level is beyond me.

Chicken in Ginger - It's like tinola but on steroids!

Bahay Kubo - All the vegetables in the song, Bahay Kubo, from singkamas down to linga!

Silogs - Even without the mains, the sinangag and itlog was delicious on their own.

Toyo Eatery, in its entirety (from the ambience, to the intricacies of the dish, to the knowledge and service of the staff), definitely deserves all the attention and accolades its getting. It should have already gotten your attention, too. 😉

The set menu may already be quite a handful for some people but if you’re up for a complete gastronomic experience, you could try their tasting menu.
Kevin, our waiter was warm and accommodating. He did a great job explaining what the three-course meal consisted of.
The appetizers were a delight, especially the tomato meringue. They use sourdough for the bread and when paired with their chicken liver spread and popcorn—you thought it would never work but it did!
For the main course I chose the bangus loin while Arianne opted for the three-cut pork bbq. The fish was unremarkable but the barbecue was a different beast; all the flavors were locked in, with a very distinct smoky end note. Every dish was on point in terms of flavor and texture combination, also presentation.

All in all, you get what you pay for. I must say, Toyo Eatery well deserves its distinction to be among Asia’s top 50 best restaurants.

I was invited by a friend of mine to try this place. It took a very long time before i finally tried it because of the price. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the staff even though we were a bit late. Surprisingly enough, it wasn't that packed considering it was a friday night. The staffs were really knowledgeable about the dishes, the food was perfect— honestly, they gave the usual filipino ingredients a different light. It was my first time to try a few ingredients which were mindblowing. I never knew filipino dishes could taste this good. I even ended up liking a few dishes and ingredients which i normally don't eat. I definitely would go back, i'd love to try the other dishes they offer. The cocktail was amazing!

we were immediately greeted by a friendly waiter who explained with great knowledge everything in the menu. we had a reservation for 6pm so that maybe answers the lack of people when we arrived. (since i’m a beer person) their selection of craft beer immediately caught my eye. everything was nice—intimate. most of the customers were foreigners so it was interesting seeing them ask about the local ingredients in the dish.

we had the 3 set meal and for an average person, you will leave with this light but full feeling. great experience, would definitely come back!

This really exceeded all my expectations—I’m glad we have a Filipino restaurant that elevates our cuisine. Great place to bring foreigner and balikbayan guests. Best part of the dining experience is when our server started singing “bahay kubo” when he presented the garden vegetables dish.
