Berde for me definitely holds a very special lunchtime place in my heart. A great and ORIGINAL local concept (for once) with a new take on rice bowls. Places like Berde give me hope that good food does actually exist here in this great country - and not just another over-hyped, celebrity-plugged bombastic disaster. We’re talking organic and farm to table, fresh ingredients with bowls of deliciousness and flavours that dance on your tongue. If you’re sitting there on the fence trying to decide what to eat to tackle that hunger inside of you, do yourself and your country a favour - support local and eat Berde. You’ll thank me later.
Please drive through.
I can't eat just salad when I'm trying to trim down. This is one good health food restaurant that I can imagine myself eating everyday. Please open a branch in BGC. Like tomorrow.
Healthy yummy food, a little bit on the pricey side.. would like to come back and try different food combinations 😋😋
Orders:
🎈Baboy oh Boy
🎈Baka Bowl
I loved the red sauce more than the green one. The beef is absolutely amazing!!! You wouldn't know that you're eating healthy food.
Addtional note: Fish varies from the catch of the day/week
Pretty good Signature Bowls! We tried MongGo Green, Manok Out and Baka Bowl. All 3 were good! The mushroom munggo karekare and Vegetarian Gising Gising in the 1st one, chicken Inasal and malungay coconut pumpkin mash in #2, beef adobo and Calamansi singkamas slaw in #3:were tasty! Bowls are all priced below php 200 which is good value for healthy meals
Hed them delivered and was happy to see the paper bowls and bamboo sforks. The food is also amazing. I thought it was too expensive for the price but no. It was so heavy and hard to finish given that we were super hungry last night
Been here a few months back. Tried this place after a quick run.
The place was quiet since ako pa lang yung tao doon. And I recall building my own salad which was really tasty and filling as well.
I hope I could visit this place again sometime soon.
Healthy and hearty meal in a bowl. Got the Manok-out and I loved it. You can also choose to create your own bowl. If you're looking for healthy food around Ayala Tri, try it here. Ni
You know a restaurant is serious about its advocacy with its consistency. When thoughts and words are translated to deeds and actual products. Berde Bowls is promoting healthy Filipino eating by supporting local farmers, espousing Filipino flavors and preserving the environment as well. I was amazed and delighted to receive my food order in a recyclable container and a spork made of recycled materials.
I got the MongGo Green at P275. It had mushroom monggo kare-kare, Berde salad mix (arugula, bokchoy, coriander, lolo rosso, mint, pechay and romaine), vegetarian gising-gising, calamansi red onion pickle, crispy shallots, white rice and red sauce.
I don't mind being vegetarian if this is the type of food I will eat. Flavors and textures are on point and layered. In fact, I did not even think of meat while savoring my bowl.
Berde is the vehicle for Jaime and Paloma Urquijo, Timothy Kong and Ryan Daniels to provide us Healthy, Fast and Delicious Meals (their words) and they deliver...on these!
I'd heard of this place, but I haven't ventured into Ayala Triangle/Ugarte Park for months, so I never saw it here.
It's cheerful inside, and the service will remind of the ordering/queueing system at Salad Stop, with four basic bowls to choose from, size regular or large, and what additional toppings and sauces you can add to modify your order.
I tried the mushroom mung bean vegetarian bowl and LOVED it! It had kale, lollo rosa, and I added kamote to my dish.
Super impressed that they have tinawon and minaangan rice from the Cordilleras, and that their suppliers include Down To Earth, Earth Beat, and other Slow Food proponents. Even their drinks are nice. Hope they'll be able to serve hot meals in the future.
We all deserve fair, healthy, local food like this.
Review as of February 2019
In a push for people to incorporate more greens into their diets, combined with people's general perception that salad must the healthiest way to do so, Manila has seen more and more restaurants focusing on salads open up here and there.
Berde, albeit a very small and slow chain, does some good offering Filipino themed salad bowls in flavors such as Filipino Kare Kare, Adobo, Monggo, and the like with sourced from local organic farms in the Philippines.
The menu is not very extensive, but this may come from the team putting more thought into each dish, below are dishes I've tried and my recommendations are marked with a star (🌟):
- MongGo Green 🌟
- Baka Bowl
This is a great resto for health-conscious foodies. You can build your own bowl or if you are lazy to think, they have recommended bowl set already. Take note that the bowl is big and if you dont eat alot you may need to share it. I like the monggo green bowl, an alternative to veggie dish. I can still recall that they also source their chickens and meat from organice and free-range farms. Kudos!
My favourite restaurant in the Philippines. Not exaggerating. I like eating out and there are a lot of good places to go, but Berde is the only that checks all the marks: taste, value for money, and the fact that I don’t feel sick (or guilty) about what I just ate. My favourites are the Manok Out, Bangka Bowl, Baka Bowl (with added pumpkin mash), and a veggie custom bowl of red rice/salad mix with their corn, pumpkin mash, and ensaladang talong with red sauce.
