We used to eat here frequently before the COVID-19 lockdown of Manila. The food was authentically Thai, as expected from a hotel of Thai origin. We have tried all types of dishes, from appetizers to main meals to dessert. The classics: pad thai gung sod, tom yum goong, khao klug ka pi (bagoong rice), khao niew ma muang (mango sticky rice) and kanom tako (coconut pudding) were among our favorites. The best dishes for us, so far, were the pla sam rod (sweet and sour fried sea bass), gai phad med ma muang (chicken and cashew) and khao phad rod fai (pork fried rice). The ambiance was classy, and service by the staff was very commendable.

We highly recommend this restaurant. Be prepared to shell out more money, though, as the prices are on the expensive side.

This place was one of the best I've had and I chose the right place to celebrate me and my girlfriend's 10th year anniversary.

✔️ Food was amazing I can't say much
✔️ Crew were very friendly, accommodating, and quick. They were even able to execute my surprise flower.
✔️ Amazing ambience
✔️ Value for money 10/10
✔️ One of the best Thai food experience

Again, thanks to Aldrienne, especially for the complimentary Sangria, also to Romel and Aisle for their wonderful service.

Thai food. We absolutely LOVE Thai food! In our opinion, it’s one of the most flavorful and complex cuisines that we have ever had. For a great Thai food. I think there is nothing better then this restaurant.

The only disk not I would tell you to avoid is there 72 hour toasted beef. Its really nothing great.

But apart from that, its hard to go wrong in any of there dishes.

The ambiance is excellent.

Its one of my families favourite restaurant of late.

A few weeks ago, Benjarong at Dusit Thani Manila was our venue for our weekly date night. I couldn’t remember the last time I found the perfect place for Thai food. So it was a thrilling night for me to relive the authentic flavors of Thailand and hoping I find love in these dishes we’ll try. Located at the ground floor, it was easy to to spot the restaurant from afar.

The Food:
See Sa Hai (Php 675) / Rate: 5/5
If you’re into barbecue flavors, See Sa Hai includes a stick of chicken, beef, pork, and tiger prawn with three different special Thai dipping sauces. More than the sweet and smoky taste of each meat, I enjoyed how each dipping sauce turns around the simplicity of barbecue to a more playful yet complementing flavor.

Tom Yam Gung (Php 425) / Rate: 5/5
The authenticity of Benjarong is more evident as soon as you taste their Tom Yam Gung soup. A splash of spicy, sour and sweet flavors in one bowl that is comforting in every sip you take. I’m warning you, this bowl of Tom Yam is intensely spicy! I suggest you order a glass of Thai Iced Tea in advance to wash out all the heat.

Pad Thai Gung Sod (Php 595) / Rate: 5/5
My visit to any Thai restaurant is incomplete without a plate of Pad Thai Gung Sod noodles. Without expectations, I was completely blown away by the perfection of this Pad Thai noodles. After trying many types of Pad Thai in the metro, I can confidently say that Benjarong’s version of Pad Thai is the best in the Philippines! This dish alone completely satisfies everything my taste buds is craving for.

Good thai restaurant. I tried here with my uncle and all the dishes we ordered were very tasty, cooked to our liking, and we felt it was authentic. I forgot the specific name but the thai chicken specialty was really good, aside from the curry dishes we ordered. We will definitely comeback!

Best Thai restaurant I've tried in Manila. There's really a touch of Thailand feels, some dishes are even way better than the authentic ones. Their crispy Papaya salad with salmon floss is worth every penny! Best pad thai, best massaman beef curry, best bagoong rice, their vegetable spring roll is good as well, even the pandan wrapped chicken. Lastly, their version of Mango sticky rice is bomb and the chocolate shell stuffed with coconut sherbet is sooo good! Their cocktails taste good as well. This restaurant is a MUST TRY! ♡

Still the best Pad Thai in Manila. Nothing compares!
The spring rolls are also marvelous as ever.

Ambiance and overall service is no less than top-notch as expected from a restaurant in a 5-star hotel. 👌💯

For Josh's dinner birthday celebration, he brought me to Benjarong, since he's claiming that their Thai food is one of the best. Of course, I obliged. Who can say no to good food? 😁

He made a reservation for 7PM, but since we arrived early, he requested it to be moved to 6PM, and they graciously allowed us to do so. We were ushered to our seats, and after a couple of minutes, we decided to get the following:

✅ POR PIA TOM YAM (Php 330 - 3 pieces) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐(Tom yam spring roll, coriander chili sauce)

It was my first time to taste something like this, and I honestly enjoyed it! It's a unique and modern take on tom yam: instead of serving it as a soup, it was served to us as spring rolls! 💖 The sour and spicy taste was there, and the rolls were filled with glass noodles, some vegetables, and shrimps. When dipped into the coriander chili sauce, it brings out a distinct Thai flavor that's flavorfully spicy.

✅ PHAD THAI GUNG SOD (Php 595) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(Fried rice noodle, prawn, tamarind sauce)

I've always loved Phad Thais, and theirs is definitely one for the books! 🤤 They ran out of prawns, so they replaced the toppings with soft-shelled crab (or you may also opt for chicken) instead, which made it even yummier with its slightly crunchy texture. 😍 The thin rice noodles were firm and flavorful, and the bean sprouts had a fresh crunch to them. The soft-shelled crab was really fresh, and they didn't scrimp on the ingredients, too! This definitely tops my phad thai list. 🤤 So so good! It has ample spiciness to it too, so you can enjoy this one without breathing fire afterwards. 😝 (Noticed how I snuck in an extra star? 😉)

✅ GAENG MASSAMAN NUEA (Php 590) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(Massaman curry, beef chuck, cashew, onion, potato, crushed peanut)

Unlike most Thai curries, Massaman curries are only mildly spicy, and has a very rich taste. In fact, it doesn't really taste like curry to me. For comparison's sake, I could say it is slightly similar to a mildly spiced kare-kare: because of its rich and nutty flavor. Because of this, it MUST be ordered with rice, as it is its perfect pair. 💖 This one is tasty, the beef was super tender, and the addition of cashew brought about a depth in flavor and an additional texture to the dish. It was really good, but can be a bit heavy and overwhelming when you eat it on its own. 😅 So make sure to get the rice!!!

Benjarong has been around for a decade and a half already, and it's a good thing Dusit Thani decided to transfer it to the lobby area last 2017, because this kind of gem shouldn't be tucked away on the higher floors. Gracious hospitality has always been the thrust of Dusit, and I'm glad that Benjarong fully embodies this, too. I know it is quite intimidating that the restaurant is located inside a hotel, but once you get past that, you'd come to realize that the prices are surprisingly quite affordable (in hotel standards)! 😉

Servers were well-trained, and they really know their menu. They were very effective in suggesting what to order, as well as what it pairs well with. Of course, since it is almost like a fine dining restaurant, servers were really polite as well. I also saw the restaurant manager interacting with the guests, which is always a good sign of good service.

When in the area, give this restaurant a try! You don't have to be checked-in to the hotel to eat here. Indeed, this will now be my top of mind choice when it comes to Thai food. Highly recommended! 💖💖💖

September 30, 2018 We met up with Deckard's best friend, M, who's in Manila for a couple of days. He has also become very close to Puppycat and I, with him being her godfather as well.

M has a business associate staying at the Dusit, he suggested we have lunch at Benjarong so we could all dine together. We ordered a total of 12 dishes but I can only upload 10 pictures. All of the food were exceptional but I'll just show those that particularly impressed me.

The following are what we had (the Thai names for some of them are too long and complicated, my bad, so I will just write it in English):

Por Pia Pak - fried vegetable spring rolls filled with sotanghon, they served this with some sweet chili sauce on the side. There were only 3 pieces per order so we got 2.

Chicken Wings with Green Curry - this was stuffed chicken wings with 3 amazing dips. The chicken alone was already so flavorful. There are 4 big pieces per order. 1 piece can be split into 2 for sharing.

Chicken satay with 2 kinds of sauces - we had to get 2 again because there were only 3 sticks per order and there were 5 of us.

Calamari with Thai basil mayo - Puppycat's favorite. There were also fried basil and sotanghon with it.

Crispy salmon salad - there's a waiter who will make this in front of your table like a Caesars Salad. There are long slivers of papaya that they deep fried to a crisp mixed with the salmon floss, peanuts, coriander, chili and other spices with a tangy sweet dressing. I like this so much more than regular Catfish Salad.

Pad Thai - M's must have so we had to get 2. There are 2 prawns included per order. In my humble opinion, Benjarong has the best tasting Pad Thai in all of Manila.

72 hours cooked beef ribs green curry - ahhhhh the name says it all. Beef that melts in the mouth and an explosion of flavor with each bite. How can I ever go back to green chicken curry after this? I consumed my entire cup of rice because of the gravy and truth be told if it weren't for the presence of M's client I'd be slurping away at this till all the sauce is gone.

Red Duck Curry - it had pineapples, cherry tomatoes, chili and basil. The duck meat was tender. I didn't like it that much but it still tasted good. My dislike is only because I prefer duck cooked Peking style.

Nuea Yang - grilled rib eye steak with tamarind sauce. Their execution of all their beef dishes are exceptional. Like the 72 hour curry, the steak was so tender. Both had fat that packed so much intense flavor. The tamarind glaze delivered a tanginess that I never thought would work with steak.

Whole stuffed chicken - this is like the Thai version of roasted chicken. The stuffing are spices like the garlic and ginger. I think there's something acidic like lime. I tasted a little heat so chili and there's some basil with it too. This is delicious as with all the rest of the food.

Prawns with lots of garlic sauce - they already peeled the body and just kept the head on for the diner's convenience. If you love garlic you will be very pleased with this dish, as in this was riddled with fried garlic bits.

Lastly, for dessert Mango Sticky Rice - we got 3 bowls to share. 1 bowl is really just enough for 1 person but it's so perfect. What makes their version distinct is that they also add a mango sherbet along with it.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable feast that we had. The service was excellent. All of the wait staff were attentive and friendly. There's also a pretty lady in red who was directing the staff, I'm not sure if she was the manager. I got to speak to her in passing and I found out she's Thai. I have nothing but praises for their food. My attempts at describing what I tasted today, I think, are not going to be enough. You'd have to experience it for yourself to understand. I also like it a lot that even if this is an upscale restaurant the vibe was quite relaxed and happy.

Ending this review again with so much gratitude in my heart. M is very precious to us, Deckard and I consider him a brother. Moments like this is part of the reason why I started writing here on Zomato. I want to remember all those times I spent with the people I love. It just so happens all of them are foodies. When we meet, we eat!

October 1, 2018 I think I've made my first friend here on Zomato! Thanks to Chizbun for teaching me how to upload more photos.

Authentic Thai food with great ambiance and service. I was craving for boat noodles and this is one of the few places that serves it in Manila. Their pad thai is also one of the better ones I’ve had here. Only disappointment was the mango sticky rice. The rice was soft and mushy like suman and the serving was extremely small for the price. The tako on the other hand was really good!

Fancy dinner date at Benjarong in Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati. The place is full when we arrived during dinner, but lucky to be seated quickly in the bar area. Its my first time to dine, and ambiance is obviously impressive considering its in a 5-Star Hotel. Elegance all over the place .

We had Shrimp Cake / Tord Man Gun for appetizer. Its served with basil and crispy noodles, with sweet spicy dip on the side.

For main course, we had Gaeng Phed Ped Yang or Red Curry Duck Breast. The mixture has grapes, pineapples, cherry tomatoes, basil and chili. Mild chili, and tender duck meat. Legit taste of curry, herbs and spice. This is something that appeals my palate. Warning: Super rice intensive😊. And of course, I love prawns, so we also have Gung Tord Katiem, its stir fried prawns in garlic sauce and coriander.

For drinks, I had Lemongrass.

Verdict: we have to limit our orders, as we’re just 2. All in all, I enjoyed everything that was served. The duck curry is something I rarely have and delighted with its taste. Benjarong has reasonable prices, quality food & service!

Went over during Holy Week, so there weren’t a lot of people. Overall ambiance was nice and the staff were quick to help. Very efficient bunch!

🌺 Som Tam Tord Salmon Foo (Crispy Papaya Salad): got to say, this one’s a show-stopping appetizer. It came in its own station, where it was prepared in front of us. The result was a slightly spicy, sweet and sour mix of crispy papaya, salmon floss, crisp vegetables and tangy garlic bits. 🤤 this was a personal favorite— you should definitely try it out for yourselves!

🌺 Por Pia Pak (Vegetable Spring Rolls): a must-have in every Thai resto, this one came with a sweet and spicy chili sauce to contrast crispy spring Rolls. Even my health-conscious mother went for it, so it’s that good. 😂

🌺 Phad Thai Gung Sod (Fried Rice Noodles): another essential to every Thai lunch, this sweet and salty noodle dish tastes even better with a spritz or lime. It came topped with crispy egg, string beans and a lemongrass leaf for garnish. ❤️ This was devoured in seconds— I nearly missed getting a good photo of this! 🤦🏻‍♀️

🌺 Tord Man Gung (Shrimp Cakes): unlike the usual flattened shrimp cakes, this one came looking like a ball! 😂 Reminded me of those shrimp balls in Chinese restaurants, to be honest. I guess the only difference was the chili sauce, which was more spicy than sweet. 🌶

🌺 Khao Niew Ma Muang (Sticky Rice with Mango): a great way to cap off a great lunch with spicy, sour and salty flavors would be with something sweet. A personal favorite of my sister, this dessert makes use of sticky rice cooked in coconut milk 🥛 topped with mango ice cream, mango bits and fluffy white coconut milk bits that gave a creamy finish. 🥥

Recommendation: get yourselves some Thai Iced Tea to complement your dishes. For some reason, it brings out the flavors of your food more.

Food is so much better now after Benjarong renovated. I love Thai food and this is the best place to get it. Dishes aren’t that spicy because everyone has their own preferred level of spicy ness, however you can tell the server how spicy you want your dish to be. The plating of the food is unique.

A million thanks to you!

My wife is pregnant and craved Thai food at around 9:45pm... I know right... :) I was googling any Thai resto that is still open to serve us food but most of them closes at 10pm and so is this resto!

I called up Dusit Thani and they connected my call to Benjarong, I requested Carlos to consider calling our order in advance and allow us to eat the food at the bar which is open until 12am.

He did not made it hard for me and my wife and coming from Quezon City they waited for us until we reach the hotel.

Thanks so much the food is great! Much appreciation from my wife and I... we will be back!

Benjarong serves delicious thai food. They serve the best Tom Yum. Our previous visits are great but our latest visit happened to be on a busy night. Servers are few and there's a big group at the same time so service was sacrificed.

We eat here often but this time i find their tom yum bland but the rest of our orders are ok.

Benjarong serves spicy authentic thai food in place that has excellent ambiance with good service. Since we dined as a nig group, We ordered almost everything we are familiar with, from their fried spring rolls, to pad thai, to their papaya salad and green curry chicken. Although I enjoyed my meal, I thought the dishes lacked the fresh zest of thai cooking (which came from lime and cilantro normally), I thought their food was a little were spicier (pad thai and spring rolls) than the good thai restaurants Ive dined in (Peoples Palace). The serving was a little small despite the advertised family size servings which made food here quite pricey. Overall I would definitely go back, though Id probably drop by just on special occassions.

1- ambience is really good (it's still Dusit Thani 😁)
2- staff are accommodating
3- I love the sticky rice and mango dessert. Too bad the crepe version of it isn't available; the setting of their bagoong rice is different but equally delicious
4- they gave the bill immediately, without me asking for it; it's good although on he other hand, it kinda gives me an impression of "you should be leaving the soonest" (or I'm just awkwardly sensitive? Lol)
5- I gave 4, the remaining 1 point is for the margin of error. There's a fly when I got there, and the chair squeaks--so if you're trying to feel comfy on your chair, it's a bit noisy lol

Sublime! If I'm allowed to use that word to describe our dining experience at this place. Well, if that was so, why not perfect 5? I'll get into that later.

There was Thai food experience and then there's Benjarong. I love Thai cuisine and dining here elevated the whole experience into a fine appreciation of how it is when you have to pay the price ;)

Food? 5/5.

We ordered most of the signature dishes:

Appetizers:

*Guay Tiew Luy Suan (Fresh Spring Roll with Minced Pork and Shredded vegetables)

*Larb Gai Tord (crispy spicy chicken with Tamarind sauce)

Soup:

*Tom Yum Gong ( spicy and sour prawn soup)

Salad:

Yam Som O (pomelo salad with shrimps and chicken)

Yam Pla Duk Foo (crispy catfish with green mango and cashew nuts)

Main:

*Gai Hor Bai Toey ( fried chicken wrapped in pandan leaves with traditional Thai sauce)

*See Krong Moo Katiem Wan (crispy Pork ribs glazed with sweet garlic sauce)

*Geang Phed Ped Yang ( red duck curry)

*Pla Sam Rod (crispy whole Lapu Lapu with sweet, sour and spicy Sauce)

*Pad Thai Gung Sod (wok fried rice noodles with prawn and tamarind sauce )

*Khao Klug Ka Pi (wok fried rice with sweet Pork, green mango, dried shrimp and long bean) or simply called Bagoong Rice :)

*Steamed Rice

Dessert:

*Khao Niao Ma Muang (ripe mango and sticky/glutinous rice )

Drink:
Thai Iced Tea

Every dish we ordered was O.N. P.O.I.N.T. Hahaha! I have to do that to drive a point. The dip sauces were perfect too for whatever dish it came with. We usually have takeaways every time we dine out because 1. We always order more than we could consume and 2. The food is just so so that it's not worth getting fat on that you just have to bring them home because you hate it to just go to waste. But this dinner, despite the amount of dishes we ordered, everything was polished!

As for the service, there really is no problem in the staff's professionalism. In fact just as soon as you're approaching the door, you're being greeted by a friendly, all-smile lady, leading you to a table, reserved or not. You'll be attended to right away by a server with a menu that you can peruse, and get attended to right away just as soon as you're ready. It's just that midway through the meal and you needed a refill of drink or water, no one is there because they are all busy attending to other patrons. And if you were unfortunate enough to want a drink because you just chewed on something really spicy, I'm sorry but no one will come to your rescue Immediately. I feel that they are understaffed. That night we went was almost a full house, so everyone was attending to one or the other. So having that kind of service is a bit frustrating especially when said cuisine is spicy.

Having said that, this is the perfect place to indulge in a fine Thai cuisine.

Benjarong will soon relocate at the ground floor in a fortnight according to our attentive waitstaff, Editho (when he wasn't busy 😊)

Dined here Friday evening to experience Royal Thai Cuisine!

Thai Pandan juice was very refreshing.

Tom Kha Gai soup was good, though a little mild compared to fiery ones we've had elsewhere.

Yam Som O - pomelo salad with shrimp and chicken was very good. Excellent medley of flavors and textures that's quite a hallmark of Thai food.

Massaman Nuea - beef curry- was fantastic. Very flavorful curry with tender beef chunks.

Phad Bai Kaprao - wok fried chicken - this is a new dish we haven't tried elsewhere. Didn't appreciate it so much

For dessert we had Ruam Mid Shaw Wang (or Thai halo halo) and I-Tim Kha Ti (coconut ice-cream garnished with coconut, red beans, sweet corn, cashew and peanuts). Former was a forgettable miniature halo halo. Latter was a very tasty dessert - a must-try here

I first discovered Benjarong back when Dusit first had their Crossover buffets. Wouldn’t you know it, I happily parked myself at Benjarong for the crossover buffets. At that time, Benjarong already impressed me – the food was delicious, the flavors distinct but harmonious, and they had a real Thai chef cooking food on the buffet area.

Ever since, Benjarong has always maintained that place in my mind for real, high-class Thai food. Of course, some regular home-cooking style Thai food restaurants became popular, but Benjarong is different – it’s not home-cooked Thai food, it’s royal cuisine – it’s the type of Thai cooking that is served to Thai royalty.

Dusit Thani Manila brings a Thai experience like no other. Reinventing the Dusit Thani experience, Benjarong pays homage to Thai cuisine at its finest.

Benjarong directly translates as "five colors", is the name of the unique type of Thai porcelain known for its exquisite and intricate patterns. This masterpiece of potters art was originally reserved for Royal and ceremonial uses. With immense pride and passion, this fine piece of tradition and culture is proudly used to preserve the tradition of Royal Thai Cuisine.

From the moment you walk in, Benjarong in Dusit Thani is clothed with intricate Thai accents; from the colorful dining ware to the melodious sounds from the Khim player, conspicuously teasing your earbuds to come on by.

Benjarong has presented to us their new dishes, and here's what I have to say:

Miang Pla Tuna Sa Mun Prai (Spicy Tuna in Betel Leaf): refreshing, tart, and has a nice kick. At first, I was afraid to try tha dish for I wasn't a big fan of raw food. But upon trying the dish, I understood why certain elements were incorporated into it. The tuna was spiced with Thai chilis, lime, cilantro and lemongrass, which was balanced by the bitter, crisp betel leaf it was wrapped on. An amazing palate cleanser for a small, pretty package.

Por Pia Pla Duk Fu (Green Mango and Crispy Catfish Fresh Spring Roll)
- I loved the contrasting textures of the crispy fish and soft, thin rice wrapper.
The bite of lemongrass pieces with hint of chilis cuts the richness of the fish.

Peek Gai Yad Sai Geang Khieo Waan Tord (Green Curry Stuffed Chicken Wing)
-a crowd favorite! I love how they were able to incorporate Thai flare into a continental favorite. It is basically already blended with tea leaves, green curry, lime leaves and spices, coated thinly with breading, mimicking the "chicken wing" aesthetic.

Kluy Gung (Crispy Shrimp Spring Roll) -whole shrimp spring rolls with spicy mayo dip. The shrimp was fresh, contrasts worked well on the dish itself.

Yum Som O (Pomelo Salad) - tart, refreshing and well-balanced. Always a fan of how light pomelo salad is. The fish sauce mixed into it helps bring out the natural sweetness of the dish.

Som Tam Tord (Crispy Papaya Salad) -surprisingly light for something that was fried! Yes, you heard right. I have never had papaya salad in this light. Juicy tomatoes contrast the crispy, julienne pieces of papaya. It is topped with floss that helps sweeten it up a bit, making a playful mix in my mouth.

Guay Tiew Rue (Boat Noodle, Beef Noodle Soup)- this dish was very comforting. I love how the beef was fork tender. The boat noodle was firm inspite of how thin it was. The sweet broth was spiced with cilantro and a few lime leaves to make it tart and fragrant.

Pla Sam Rod (Crispy Fish with Spicy, Sweet and Sour Sauce)
- fish was crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. The sweet and sour blend kicks in a hint of spice, still keeping the Thai element at play. Best with rice(or on it's own!)

Gaeng Khiao Wan Gai (Green Curry Chicken)
-spicy green curry with a kiss of sweetness. I love that the coconut milk was well prepared(you can tell by the smooth, creamy texture of the curry). I love how mildly smoky the curry was. Chicken is tender and cooked just right. Makes me want to eat rice some more. (Huhu! Im craving!)

Massaman Nueva (Massaman Curry Beef) - a sweeter rendition of curry compared to the latter. Beef and star anise flavors were balanced in the dish. Beef was fork tender, juicy and thick. Coconut milk was also cooked just right. ❤️

Khao Klu Ka Pi (Wok Fried Rice Shrimp's Paste served with Sweet Pork, Green Mango, Dried Shrimps and Long Bean) - similar to bagoong rice, but with just the right saltiness. The shrimp paste component was light, helping you to enjoy and mix in the mango, shrimp, or other viands that Benjarong serves(I suggest pairing it with the curry. Nomnom!)

Phad Ka Na Moo Krob (Wok Fried Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly) - pork belly done right! The skin was crackling and crispy while the meat itself was juicy and soft still. ❤️ this is served with a bed of wok fried Chinese brocolli, adding in a contrast in texture and flavor.

Benjarong (5 Colors of Ice Cream and Fruit) - a sweet note to end our evening, it was a platter of ice cream and fruit. A hefty mix of taro, honeydew, watermelon, dragonfruit, mango and more, all components were not that sweet. It's very refreshing, perfect to end the night and hug up all those flavors to induce more endorphins. 🤗

Please do visit Benjarong Dusit Thani Manila and experience a feast which is truly festive, lively, and exceptional. ❤️

"Enchantingly Thai" would be the best way to describe Benjarong Dusit Manila.

One of the best places to get a taste of Thai in Manila, Benjarong brings you the authentic experience of Siam. When you enter Benjarong, you are welcomed by a traditionally attired lady playing  a khim (hammered dulcimer), a tradtional Thai instrument.

Dishes I would greatly recommend are.....

For appetizers-
Miang Pla Tuna Sa Mun Prai (Spicy Tuna in the Betel Leaf) - Fresh raw tuna that reminds me of poke (the Hawaiian raw fish dish)

Peek Gai Yad Sai Geang Khieo Waan Tord (Green Curry Stuffed Chicken Wing)
- forget about buffalo wings, this is the best thing to happen to chicken wings!

Kluy Gung (Crispy Shrimp Spring Roll) - long slender deep fried rolls that would be popular with the kids.

Som Tam Tord (Crispy Papaya Salad) - this was a revelation for me. Different from the fresh SOm Tam you would ordinarily get. The fresh papaya is nice and crispy.

Main Dishes -
Massaman Nuea (Massaman Curry Beef) - don't worry if you can't take much spiciness 'coz this one has a great balance of deep massaman curry with tender beef pieces.

Pla Sam Rod (Crispy fish with spicy, sweet and sour sauce) - whole grouper (lapulapu) is fried crisp with a tamarind sauce, diced pineapple and basil.

Gaeng Khiao Wan Gai (Green Curry Chicken) - a favorite and a must-order whenever you are in Benjarong.

And, of course, dessert -
Benjarongs 5 Color of Ice Cream and Fruits - bright and tropical makes this a dessert to die-and-live for. A sweet way to end a heavenly Thai feast.

Then there's their wine selection..... we got to try a California Sauvignon Blanc that goes very well with Thai food... or maybe try their Thai White Sangria which was adorned by a chili!

We were lucky enough to be the first to try the new menu of Benjarong at Dusit Thani Manila. It was my first time visiting Benjarong and I was astonished by the luxury Thai design and interiors as I entered the area. I was impressed with the staffs too, they were all wearing traditional Thai costumes. We were served scrumptious authentic Thai dishes that gave me the best Thai experience so far.

My favorites:

Peek Gai Yad Sai Geang Khieo Waan Tord - green curry stuffed chicken wing. I instantly fell in love with my first bite. I felt the powerful taste of the curry inside the chicken that makes me crave for more.

Khao Klu Ka Pi - Wok fried rice shrimps paste served with sweet pork, green mango, dried shrimps and long bean. I tried Khao Klu for the first time before and I thought it was already good not until I tried Benjarong's Khao Klu. It was way better than my first experience.

Dusit Thani Manila's reputable Thai restaurant Benjarong has reinvented their dishes to encapsulate more Thai flavors. Although I am not a avid Thai food taster, Benjarong has given a very wonderful experience for me on both food and ambience.

I was enamored by the table setup they have, and the mood of the place really sets the mood of coziness and relaxation, while being serenaded by the sounds of the Khim as you dine.

APPETIZERS

I really enjoyed the mixture of spiciness and tangy taste of their Miang Pla Tuna Sa Mun Prai (Spicy Tuna in the Betel Leaf), not to mention the softness of the tuna is something to rave about.
Their Por Pia Pla Duk Fu (Green Mango and Crispy Catfish Fresh Spring Roll) and Kluy Gung (Crispy Shrimp Spring Roll) are must-tries. Although crispy, the appetizers were actually surprisingly soft on the inside.

SALAD

The Som Tam Tord (Crispy Papaya Salad) really stood out for me. The spicy-sour fusion of the salad really brought out that zest from the papaya, and the crisps really added more texture to the salad.

SOUP

The Guay Tiew Rue (Boat Noodle, Beef Noodle Soup) is very flavorful and savory. The mix of sweetness of the soup and the herbs really complemented the tender beef slices.

MAIN
DISHES

Tasting the Khao Klu Ka Pi (Wok Fried Rice Shrimp Paste with Sweet Pork, Green Mangoes, Dried Shrimp and Long Bean) was very interesting to me since the mixture of the sour green mangoes meshed well with the sweetness of the pork, which has been enhanced by the saltiness of the dried shrimps. Also, the Phad Ka Na Moo Krob (Wok Fried Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly) is very delicious and I very much associated with the Filipino Lechon Kawali but with yummy broccoli.

DESSERT

Of course, the restaurant's very own Benjarong (5 Color of Ice Cream and Fruits) really did justice in capping the various flavors of the dishes. I enjoyed the different ice cream flavors fused with the dragon fruit, watermelon and mangoes.

Thailand is not only a place full of rich culture but also of good food. It shelters one of Asia's best kept recipes and those who have tasted real Thai cuisine is lucky enough to experience it. Benjarong (translates to: 5 colors) in Dusit Thani is a place that you have to check out for authentic Thai food in the Philippines--no more, no less.

With its chef from Thailand itself, it offers a wide variety of Thai dishes that will surely make you love Thai food even more. All the food that we sampled were great. Some of my favorites were the Kluy Gung (Crispy shrimp spring roll), Som Tam Tord (Crispy Papaya Salad), Pla Sam Rod (Crispy Fish with spicy, sweet, and sour sauce), Massaman Nuea (Masaman curry beef), and of course, the dessert, Banjarong.

The crispy shrimp spring roll was very addictive. The sea-salty and tender texture of the shrimp complemented well with the crispy wrapper and the tangy mayo-cilantro dressing. The papaya salad's concept was very unique. It's the first time I tasted a papaya (thinly sliced, breaded, and fried) dish cooked liked this. I really loved it. The fish tasted very fresh and was fried to perfection. I like the balance between the sweet and sour, and a hint of spicy.

Lastly, for the mains, despite not being a fan of curries, I surprisingly ate a lot of the massaman beef curry. The curry flavor wasn't too strong and the coconut milk rounded the flavor well. It was very creamy! Of course, the different flavors and colors of the dessert was to seek for and i think everyone liked it too! (Lol well, it's dessert!!!)

The ambience of the place was very relaxing; the Thai live music playing and comfy interiors completes your Thai experience here in Benjarong. I'm so excited to go back to this place to try out more of their offerings!! ❤️ the staff and servers were awesome too!

Taste the five colors.

Product: I am lucky enough to be able to taste the menu Benjarong is planning to include when they relaunch in the near future. If you are craving for Thai food, this is the place to be. The taste authenticity, the beautiful presentation, and just the right amount of spiciness; your cravings will be satisfied.

For appetizers and refreshers we had:

- Miang Pla Tuna Sa Mun Prai (Spicy Tuna in the Betel Leaf)
- Por Pia Pla Duk Fu (Green Mango and Crispy Catfish Fresh Spring Roll)
- Peek Gai Yad Sai Geang Khieo Waan Tord (Green Curry Stuffed Chicken Wing)
- Kluy Gung (Crispy Shrimp Spring Roll)

For our salad and soup:

- Yum Som O (Pomelo Salad)
- Som Tam Tord (Crispy Papaya Salad)
- Guay Tiew Rue (Boat Noodle, Beef Noodle Soup)

And for our mains we were served:

- Pla Sam Rod (Crispy fish with spicy, sweet and sour sauce)
- Gaeng Khiao Wan Gai (Green Curry Chicken)
- Massaman Nuea (Massaman Curry Beef)
- Khao Klu Ka Pi (Wok Fried Rice Shrimps Paste served with Sweet Pork, Green Mango, Dried Shrimps and Long Bean)
- Phad Ka Na Moo Krob (Wok Fried Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly)

And for our sweet dessert:

- Benjarong (5 Color of Ice Cream and Fruit)

If you have been reading my previous reviews, spicy food aren't my cup of tea but when it's really good, I power through it, and that's what Benjarong made me do. I made it through a night of spicy food set! What stood out for me the most were the spicy tuna in the betel leaf, it's the combination of tuna and the betel leaf, gives out a refreshing feel into your mouth as you eat it. It's sour with a minty feel but of course it's mild spiciness takes you to another level of refreshing, but the goal of it being a "refresher" will succeed you. The stuffed chicken wing didn't need the sauce to taste delicious! The taste of the curry overpowers the whole dish and which already has a hint of spiciness but when you combine it with the dip, it enhances the flavors with even more spiciness but just the right amount for you to enjoy it even more. This one is my favorite! The crispy shrimp roll a crowd favorite. You will love the fact that the shrimp taste is so powerful that you don't even care about dipping it anyway. I mean, c'mon. Shrimp alone is perfect! The boat noodle soup was sweet and savory but the sweetness of the dish stands out even more. The texture of the beef is perfect, it isn't too soft that the spoon crushes it when you try to cut a piece and spreads all over the soup, but chewy enough for your mouth to enjoy it. And the noodles are very light which is good if you don't want to be full in time for the mains. Some of the mains remind of some famous Filipino dishes which is good if your tongue is still looking for some familiarity. The fish is sweet and sour but with a spicy twist into it. So, it's like sweet and sour and spicy fish! The curries are both delicious in their own way. The green curry was spicy and creamy while the massaman curry was savory and rich with beef flavor while also being creamy and milky, which is why it's also another crowd favorite. The wok fried rice shrimp paste was like a bagoong rice with pork asado which looked so beautiful because of how colorful the plate was. The picture doesn't do it justice, unless you're a good photographer. The crispy pork belly was like another famous filipino dish, (lechon kawali) so soft and chewy but has the crunchy feel into it as you chew along. So delicious!
And for the Benjarong, how I wish I was served 2 plates of this gorgeous looking dish, each scoop of fruit and ice cream isn't enough for my mouth! Can there be a large version of this? Or like two scoops of each ingredient? That would be highly appreciated. It's really good but it's really small and it will leave you wanting more.

Venue: This Thai inspired restaurant is located in Dusit Thani, and we were welcomed with open arms. The hospitality of the staff is so overwhelming. We felt so embraced. Not only do they have an amazing staff, the interior of this place is to die for. The ambience takes you to another country, like you were dining somewhere else. It was such a nice feeling being here. It makes you want to come back for more. We also got to witness a Khim player in action. Watching her play was so soothing and calming, she was smiling while she was playing which uplifts your spirit, and you know what they say; happy life, happy tummy! Everything about this place is worth praising. We can't get enough of it. We were very lucky to be a part of this wonderful experience.

Dusit Thani's Benjarong, or "five colors", is named after a unique Thai porcelain that is so majestic it is only used for ceremonies and only by the royalties. This is the promise that the restaurant wants to fulfill to its guests: nothing but fine dining and royal treatment. . Khim Instrumentalist

Benjarong is the flagship restaurant of Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati, serving wonderful Thai dishes, infused with modern cooking techniques that is truly an adventure to the palate. The word Benjarong literally means "five colors", a known potter's vibrant and colorful masterpiece in South East Asia. This elegant piece was reserved for the royal court use and ceremonials. Thus it is the most fitting name for the restaurant that preserves the tradition of Royal Thai Cuisine.

The interiors reflect into the authenticity of the restaurant and to what they serve. A feel of royalty is in the air with the displays, the walls, and the traditional Thai music at the background creates a general feel of an different dining experience.

We had this rare opportunity of testing out the new dishes to be released upon the relaunch of Benjarong later this year. As expected, the harmony of tastes, color, and texture achieved with the blending of herbs and spices to enhance the taste and the overall gastronomical experience. Here are some of the dishes that we tried out:

Miang Pla Tuna Sa Mun Prai (Spicy Tuna in the Betel Leaf)
Reminds me of Kilawin with a Thai twist. Fresh tuna with a bit of spice gives it a kick. A good start for any meal.

Peek Gai Yad Sai Geang Khieo Waan Tord (Green Curry Stuffed Chicken Wing)
One of my favorites for the night. Chicken wings with the right amount of spice from the curry can get your appetite on high gear. Be careful though as you might get too hooked with this appetizer. It's THAT good!

Kluy Gung (Crispy Shrimp Spring Roll)
A simple appetizer with a high impact. This just shows that a dish doesn't require to be fancy to be good. Something that you could really enjoy prior to your main dish.

Som Tam Tord (Crispy Papaya Salad)
The crunchy papaya strips gave this salad it's attitude. With the spice from the dressing made it further enjoyable.

Guay Tiew Rue (Boat Noodle, Beef Noodle Soup)
Reminds me of the local Pares, this soup just gave out the right sweetness that you could really enjoy. The noodles was not too heavy. Hopefully they have the option to make it more spicy to bring this dish to a higher level.

Massaman Nuea (Massaman Curry Beef)
Not too spicy but tastes just right. There's also that hint of sweetness because of the coconut milk included. A legit curry dish to look forward to.

Phad Ka Na Moo Krob (Wok Fried Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly)
Reminds you of the local Lechon Kawali. That crispy skin and tender meat's gonna make you crave for more.

Benjarong (5-color Ice Cream with Fruits)
And to end the meal, they have served this wonderful and colorful dessert that is truly an eye candy. With different fruits shaped into balls along with the cute scoops of ice cream, the taste and presentation is really great.

Like I mentioned earlier, Benjarong will re-launch with its new look later this year as they'll be presenting a more subdued and modernized Thai gastronomy. They plan to have the new Benjarong that will cater to different generations while still being Thai at heart. Looking forward to the new change!

I haven't been to Benjarong in a long time (which is a shame, really, but I live in the north) but I have fond memories of their pomelo salad, tom yum goong and pad thai the last time I ate there. So when I found myself back in Dusit a few days ago, it's hard to resist its allure.
The addition of a khim player is a nice touch, providing diners with a mellow sound and enhancing the Thai ambiance  (a khim is a Thai stringed instrument that sounds like a piano, only the player hammers the strings directly instead of keys doing the job for you.) But the food is divine as always, and kudos to Khun Nit (the restaurant's manager) and Khun Ja (Benjarong's resident chef) for running a tight ship. We were served more than 10 courses, a dessert, 2 beverages and wine but these are my favorites (plus the only ones I can eat given my mango allergy. =(

Mian Pla Tuna Sa Mun Prai (tuna ceviche in betel leaf) - the perfect appetizer to open your palate, with the great mix of sour, sweet, salty, spicy and slight hint of bitter in one bite. Adding the mint and cilantro gave it a more Thai flavor for me.

Peek Gai Yad Sai Geang Khieo Waan Tord (Green curry stuffed chicken wing) - you'll love this fried chicken wing which is easy to eat and the green curry gives it a nice kick.

Kluy Gung (crispy shrimp spring roll) - it's hard to stop at just one with this appetizer. The shrimp is seasoned just right and not overcooked.

I craved for authentic Thai cuisine earlier this month and a good friend of mine suggested that I try Benjarong at Dusit Thani Hotel.

The restaurant had this calm, tranquil ambience with relaxing instrumental music playing in the background. Its a great place for business meetings, romantic dates and celebrations.

As a starter, we ordered Tom Yam Gung. The soup was sweet, sour, salty and spicy just the way I like it. You can taste the lemon grass, kaffir leaves in the soup. We got 1 prawn each but I would have loved a larger serving size.

The main course was Massaman Nuea. Beef was tender. It was not too spicy and overall flavor from the curry was strong.

Lastly for dessert, we had Crepe Khao Naio Mamuang. Sticky rice was wrapped on crepe, unfortunately, rice was chewy. Mango was sweet even if its not on season. The best part for this dessert was the sweet coconut cream.

I would recommend this restaurant for their authentic Thai cuisine despite its pricey menu.

Still the most authentic and best Thai Restaurant in Manila. You definitely shouldn't miss their Pomelo Salad, Shrimp Cakes, Green Chicken Curry, Wok Fried Chicken with Basil, Crispy Pork Belly best paired with their Bagoong Rice and of course, their Shrimp Padthai. They also have Pandan Juice available which is very refreshing.
Aside from the food, you will also fall in love with the ambience. Especially the traditional cups or "Benjarong" artistically arranged at the entrance of the restaurant.
Would like to thank the staff for being attentive and patient with our demands (there were 10 of us, by the way). Thanks as well to Khun Nit for being very accommodating!

It has always been a good dining experience in Benjarong. We'll surely be back soon!

Food in Benjarong is awesome. It is as close to the real thing as you can get. There's not much Thai food places that has caught my heart in Manila and I can only name a few that really stands out. My favorites here would be their Thai spring rolls, marinated boneless chicken wrapped in pandan leaves, roasted duck in sweet and sour curry, tom yum and of course PAD THAI!! Do not leave the place without trying their ripe mango with sticky rice. Service crew are well-trained and knowledgeable.

Tried the following items: their pomelo salad, fried catfish with green mango salad, tom yam Gung, tom kha gai, fish in tamarind soup, pineapple fried rice, squid with salted egg, deep fried lapu lapu fillet in tamarind sauce, chicken in green curry, duck in red curry, and their pad Thai. The standout dishes are the fried catfish and green mango salad, the tom yam Gung, the fish in tamarind soup, their pad Thai, and the deep fried lapu lapu fillet. The squid with salted egg and the duck in red curry are the least successful dishes of the bunch. The serving sizes are quite small given the prices, but that's kind of to be expected. Bottom line is, you can get some real quality Thai food here that's well deserving of special occasions.

There are not much thai places to eat. Most of them are too commercialized to my liking. And BENJRONG is the only place I can think of when i want authentic and really good thai food that is not filipinized to cater to its Filipino patrons.

Perhaps one of the best, if not the best Thai restaurant in Metro Manila is still Benjarong at Dusit Thani Hotel. It's the type of restaurant that is as authentic as it can get and anyone who has been to Thailand would know exactly what that is.

I consider eating at Benjarong as a way of rewarding oneself. Or maybe you just really want good Thai food.

I've had different versions of the Crispy Fried Catfish with Mango Salad here in Manila but nothing beats Benjarong's. You can never have too much of that combination of salty, crunchy and sweet with the right amount of tart. Though a good dish to start with, I make it a point to not finish it immediately as I keep going back to that wonderful mix of taste that is never boring even when the main course has arrived.

For more healthy goodness (I use the term very lightly here), I like ordering the Stir Fried Chinese Broccoli Leaves with Crispy Pork. Another crunchy delight that just tastes so good with white rice and to keep the fat in check, there's the good old greens. I usually cut off the fat part when I eat pork but for this dish, I am willing to make an exception.

Want more meat? Try the Beef Fillet Masaman Curry. I love curry in every form and this one, with its melt-in-the-mouth-meat, is truly a must try.

The Grilled Beef with Sweet Sour Chili Sauce, I feel is actually more Filipino-tasting but heck, I enjoy it still.

I can't remember eating anything I don't like at Benjarong. The service is always top notch and the staff seem to be quite knowledgeable with the dishes. If you ask them what they could suggest, they never seem to miss the spot. The price may be quite steep but if you dine here maybe once every one or two months, you'd never need to look for any other place to satisfy your Thai food craving.
