Cowrie Cove is an ideal date place to cap a romantic getaway at Shangri-la Mactan. They serve the best-tasting seafoods with a great view and ambiance that is also great for families and big groups.
Very nice surroundings completely relaxing. However on hot evenings the fans do not keep you cool and if no breeze from the sea you will melt.
However the staff are excellent and genuine and they make the place worth the visit alone.

What a lovely spot for a romantic dinner...
My husband and I decided to spend our last night at Shang Mactan having dinner by the ocean. We were rewarded by an unforgettable meal.
We started with cocktails at Waves before indulging in the gorgeous dishes from Cowrie Cove. The staff were all so eager to please and had the most confident recommendations.
I started with the Caesar salad that was served with grilled prawns. Delicious salad-- the addition of the prawns served to highlight the gorgeous setting. These were perfectly grilled, btw. Still very juicy and seasoned just right. My husband had the seafood bisque that he thoroughly enjoyed. We were also served with complementary bread that we were munching on up to the end of the meal. Yum!😊
For our mains, I settled on the grilled tuna with olive mash, chorizo and mussel. They know their seafood inside out, I have to say. This was an absolutely delicious dish with an unexpected pairing. The olives and chorizo mix worked btw. My partner went for the pan fried grouper with cauliflower cream. The fish was really fresh and the cauliflower cream added a textural play on the dish. Both dishes were excellent and at par with the standards set by Shangri-la. I had a glass of white wine, while my hubby stuck to his usual San Mig Light.
We ended our meal with their cheesecake that we ate in our room. So presentation is not the best as seen in the picture. I also thought it was just okay, I would have preferred it to be more tangy and creamy.
Since it was a resort, it was an expensive meal. Something best reserved for special occasions. The setting was so beautiful and they serve you the freshest bounty of the sea. It was a heady and romantic experience. We couldn't have asked for a better way to end our short vacay...
The food is good but not great. Im just a little disappointed with the taste because dishes are pricey and I was expecting it to be mindblowing, 😂. The presentation and servers were actually great and of course, the amazing view of the beach as a background.
My family and I went to Waves Bar just inside Cowrie Cove to try out their happy hour special: a buy 1, take 1 on cocktails, beers, and shakes.
We got to enjoy the place even more for there weren't much customers there with us. They play good music, the waiters have A+ service and they also gave us free chips to go along with our drinks!
We also needed an appetizer, this is called the Foie Gras "Cuba Libre". The ingredients are cola, lemon granite, brioche and rocket. . And for our main course, we have the New Zealand Lamb Rack with pickled eggplant and cream, tomato seeds and miso foam. . You don't call it a complete meal without desserts! We had strawberry ice cream and all the good stuff in it.
Place is nice.
Unfortunately they do not serve anymore the soft shell crab. I ended up getting the rock lobster which did not disappoint.
They have an exclusive set menu for their guests on December 24-25 and Dec 30-31, 2015! Pics shown! So expect these delish set served during the holidays!

First thing first, I dont like seafood. I am so lazy that unless someone is doing all the work for me, im not gonna spend more than 10 seconds disecting that shrimp/crab/lobster. BUT MY DAD LOVES SEAFOOD. ESPECIALLY LOBSTER. so for the first time since we came here, I decided that finally its time for me to play a "nice kind obedient daugter". So i let him order seafood platter. Its ok bc he also let me order a bottle of white wine. Yes we killed it. More like I killed it. I got happily drunk just enough to tell them i deserve a dessert tonight bc i was such a good daughter. So he let me order pistachio creme brulee with coconut ice cream. I normally dont like creme brulee. So i ate the coconut ice cream and shared my creme brulee with my parents. They were happy. I was happy. We were one happy family.
Unless you love humidity and mosquitoes, sit inside. Yeah the view is jawdropping beautiful but honey you are there for food. Not for the view. I think one reason I could be so calm and nice and patient is bc we were sitting inside w ac on. Also live music is pretty loud. When im eating, i want to put my 150% to my food.

If you have to eat at Cowrie, do yourself a favor and order something special. That means you can skip the soda which is very expensive for a mere Coke in can. The view is spectacular so choose a seat overlooking the shore or the sea. Best for afternoon cocktails.
