Fiji Restaurant

I didn't expect the price to be affordable. We got 2 sets of seafood platter and grilled veggies good for the 9 of us. This was a lot better than the lunch we had from another exclusive restaurant outside plantation bay. Plus the inside of the resto is really nice. We got the best location for a big group. Good job Fiji team. 😀

We are staying at Plantation Bay and didn't want to travel far for dinner - we are so happy we came here! The decor is lovely, reflecting the Philippines and there was a very talented piano player for background music.
The tempura prawns like other reviews were delicious! Also the pork barbecue and gyoza are a must have.
The service was great and our 2 year old daughter had a kids meal of chicken and chips.
Cocktails, a chocolate milkshake and fresh orange juice left us feeling so full we sadly had no room for dessert, but we highly recommend this restaurant. We hope to come back again!

We were meaning to go the the city but ended up going to this place for an early lighter meal. The place was fairly occupied, what with most of the Koreans and some Japanese tourists patronizing Plantation Bay.

Everything we ordered from the Arugula Salad, to the Asparagus Soup, and the Sizzling fish, were perfectly done. Plus I observed that with all the business transactions concluded positively, I was inclined to be more appreciative rather than critical 😝

Although I have not seen most of the tourists dining in to the restos inside the Plantation, the few ones were good enough to to generate a fairly good business :)

You can't fault the food and the service, that might be because the staff are used to catering to foreigners than locals, although it was mentioned that one can see more locals on weekends more than weekdays, and on off peak season.

Third day of our five-day family holiday in Cebu. The first two were spent on a tour grind and the remaining days set for proper rest and relaxation, hence we transferred to Plantation Bay Resort. The plan is to try all the restaurants in the resort starting with Fiji.

We sampled a few items from the menu - cucumber mango kani salad, salmon sashimi, barbecue chicken maki, Korean fried chicken, pan fried lapu-lapu and tonkatsu. I found the food here to be above average.

I tasted most of our orders. The tonkatsu was my order. The breading was not too thick, the pork was moist and tender, the flavour was almost right if not for excess saltiness. The fried chicken was sweet and spicy but again had a little problem with salt. The sashimi left a very slight itch on the palate. I suspected it wasn't that fresh. The lapu-lapu was very tasty. It's sauce had that slight sweet taste and a bit of heat. It was perfect with rice so make sure you order a cup because it did not come with one. The barbecue chicken maki was an interesting concept but execution was not the best. The chicken was dry and a bit tough. It is basically small chunk of chicken on rice roll. Would be good to reimagine this dish and add something else to add flavour and texture, perhaps a slice of avocado or mango may help.

Service was rather slow. I think the place was about 90% full and I sensed the staffs were a little overwhelmed. The rice we ordered to go with the lapu-lapu was missed and we had to follow-up for that to be served. Two of our orders were served much later than the others - sashimi and maki - which was odd since those normally are served first. The good thing is that they recognised their shortcoming and offered free miso soup which was a good gesture. The place is promising but it needs to be consistent in terms of service.

In terms of pricing, Fiji is above average (but not too pricey) which is expected given it is located in a resort.

Forking Fiji's Korean Flavoured Oxtail, I had felt the acceptable tenderness of the meat - falling off the bone. Putting it into my mouth the first time was a blast. It had the flavours of bulgogi - with a comforting sugar, soy sauce and mix of spices. Looks like the kare-kare found a runner-up in this version.
