My sister describes their food as the ramen that touched her soul. One of the first in the ramen scene in Manila, they continue to serve excellent ramen fare with a chicken fowl broth base. Try their tantanmen, it's the best one in Manila. The first time I tried it, I thought it wouldn't finish the bowl but I ended up devouring every last sip. Tip: tantanmen is only available after 5pm

A whole lot of Ramen!

Product: We had each kind of Ramen (shoyu, shio, and miso). I specifically had the Miso Ramen. Shoyu is Soy Sauce, Shio is Salt, and Miso is Soybeans (I think it said Bean Paste on the menu? not sure). Anyway, the serving of the product is so huge it is probably enough for 3 people with my appetite but if you're one of those people who wants to get the quantity of what you paid for, you should go here. The noodles were really heavy and with that amount of serving? You would easily get full. For me, the bean sprout taste stood out more than the other ingredients. I'm not a big fan of it but it wasn't bad! It's just not for me. I didn't particularly like that we only use disposable chopsticks. I feel that takes away some essence of the place but also, it's good because it's more sanitary that way. I just prefer a more authentic feel, you get me? The Chicken Karaage is also becoming a favorite dish of mine. It goes with everything!

Venue: You can find this at the far almost-end of the rays of restaurant in the Tuscany area if you're coming from Upper McKinley Hill. There are different kinds of table, and they also had one where you feel like you're sitting on the floor. I get excited by small things like that. The lighting was dim, thus the results of my photos. The servers were okay. They weren't smiling and jolly, but they weren't rude either but the service was fast so, I got no complaints here.

The best tantanmen but orders are limited and all ramen variety are oily. They have big servings so if you're not a big eater, I suggest you find someone to share one bowl with. They have a restroom upstairs that is now closed to customers so if you need to go, you have to use the public restrooms found outside the restaurant.

It belongs to the array of restaurants near office buildings and Tuscany residences. I've always been curious about Ukkokei; so many people go crazy about it on Instagram. I ordered the Miso Ramen + Gyoza set all to myself because i was thaaat hungry! A good 30 minutes after, i can say that my hangry tummy was beyond satisfied. There is no wifi, so my friend and i had quality time.

I'm giving it a 4.0, because i think it still has room for improvement. The chashu in the ramen might be a bit fatty for me. I didnt like the noodles, although the miso broth is so good. Would come back for the gyoza!

It's very good, but it's one of those dozen ramen restaurants in the Metro which are "tubong lugaw".  Ramen is supposed to be cheap comfort food, but the trend in the Philippines appears to be to turn it into mostly expensive noodle soup (Tamagoya being the exception).  Granted they may a few imported ingredients but at the same time they are paying Philippine wages, rent, and other expenses.

But in any case, their shoyu ramen is excellent and has the complex but clean flavor I look for in ramen broths.  Not many ramen houses can pull off great shoyu.

Food and drinks: 4.5

Ambiance: 5.0

Service: 5.0

Value for Money: 3.5

Japanese vibe is on. I actually laughed at my companion since he was too stubborn to remove his shoes and sit down comfortably.

The lady’s suggestion for the ramen was on point. For a person who doesn’t fancy spicy food, they were able to convince me to eat the TanTan Noodles. And yep, I enjoyed it. They were also kind enough to lessen the spiciness level for my consumption. Serving is something I can never finish on my own. Hahaha.

Definitely not a place for budgetarians.

Ordered the Ukokkei Shio Chashu when I went here. The soup was decent, but tends to be too salty when you take it on its own. The noodles were fine, but I've had better and firmer noodles before. Their gyoza was good, though.

The food was fine, but could be better. What you wouldn't enjoy is the fact that their staff stands around the eating customers. It's kind of off-putting. I wish they'd stop doing that. 😅

My go-to ramen place here in McKinley Hill. I almost always order the Tantanmen. Although I frequently try to avoid spicy food, I've learned to appreciate it because of the Tantanmen which is really spciy but the flavor is so good you can't help but eat and slurp. I was also able to try their gyoza. It was just okay. Tantanmen is the best dish you could order there if you can take the heat.

If you want to have Ukokkei Ramen Ron, just go to the one in Makati. Same price but better, tastier soups. Although the ramen here is good, I can't help not to compare the quality with the ones in their Makati branch.

I've been wanting to try this place cause they said their ramen was really good. Love their miso ramen! :) I actually don't know which to order; but we asked the staff and she said that this was their beat seller :) so I give it a try, and I love it. I actually didn't finish it because I ordered the set meal A which includes chahan and gyoza. Wasn't expecting that the ramen will be the regular size (thought it's only half serving). Hihi i wanna try the other ramen variants too :)

I'm not a ramen person. In fact I really don't like it. I came here because I knew they had dry ramen. So I was choosing between the cold sesame noodles and the abura soba and I feel like I made a mistake choosing the latter because it was oily salty and tasteless despite the fact that it was served with a mound of spring onions. I practically coated it with chilli powder. The noodles were chewy and not at all pleasant. I felt like I completely wasted my money coming to this place and ordering what I did.

The gyoza was really good though! Just enough flavor and spice, and the wrapper was not too thick. It was toasted and held together well.

The green tea is exactly like Starbucks' China green tips.

I'm giving it a 3.5 maybe because I'm looking for the Ramen Nagi taste on their Ramen. Mark personally liked it though because it tastes less salty than Ramen Nagi according to him. Nonetheless, this resto is worth visiting.

This is a nice place to eat good ramen.

The ramen is very authentic and i can tell that they are into a authentic ramen house.

The gyoza is perfectly cooked. They also have towels for you to use.

They also have a place where you can sit on the floor to make you feel the japanese way of eating, you'll need to remove your shoes though.

Ukokkei is our favorite Ramen place, I like their Ramen better than Ramen Nagi's, but feel like they have fewer choices than Ramen Nagi. Still, this is one of our top choices for Ramen, couldn't go wrong with their classic ramens.

This is the second Ramen Restaurant that I have been in for a month. The place is quite small but their semi-Japanese style compromises the size. I have tried their lunch set with curry rice, gyoza and half shoyo ramen. The curry needs to be a little more spicy for my taste. The serving of the curry rice is a bit big for me that I failed to consume all the ramen. The taste of the ramen soup is good. I will not really recommend the gyoza. The taste is not savory Maybe because the curry overpowers its taste. As for the price, it is quite reasonable due to the amount of serving. I am not sure if the ramen is for lunch though. If I will go back to this place and eat ramen, i might go at dinner time.

Ramen is jap authentic. But ebi tempura is like filipinized. :) The no shoes tables are cozy and relaxing. As the rain poured hard outside, hot miso soup is glorious.

I love the soup but I am not a fan of their noodles. Ukkokei Ramen Ron's noodle is too soft for me. I like the firm type of noodles like the ones offered at Fukuoka Ramen or Yokohama Ramen in Makati.

Ukokkei has been considered as one of the top Ramen Houses in Metro Manila, along with Ramen Nagi and Mendokoro Ramenba, but it is the ramen house I like the least among the three.

Ukokkei, however, wins the battle of value-for-money with their lunch sets. With just Php380 you get a full ramen bowl (choice of miso, shio, and shoyu), salad, rice bowl, and some macaroni from the higawari set. The ramen, though, is still the most tasty part of the meal.

The ramen's pork strip was just perfect, and a lot of people prefer the pork strips of Ukokkei among the other ramen bars. The broth doesn't stand out once you've tried ramen nagi, so it's difficult to get excited about it. Don't get me wrong, it's very flavorful but it just doesn't deserve a 5.0.

I liked the noodles least, it had the feel of being a bit mushy. I also thought the chicken teriyaki served was very dry and bland. Well, i guess that's what you get if you're opting in for quantity over quality.

Food Quality: 3.5
Service Quality: 3
Ambiance: 4.0

Overall Quality: 3.5

If you haven't already, you should try Ukokkei to see if it's for you. I have friends who really prefer Ukokkei's ramen over other ramen houses. It's just not for me.

Cheers,
Chef Jay

A 5.0 simply because they make the best tasting Tantanmen on this side of the planet! I've tried various Tantanmens before but Ukokkei is the bomb. I'm glad to know that each branch now serves more than the initial 30 limited portions. I think it's one of the reasons why people flock to Ukokkei and that's because they limit their production of the said ramen and the quality is unchanged. I would love to try their Silkie Ramen on my next visit but for now, their Tantanmen remains to be my top favorite and because of that Ukokkei Ramen Ron remains to be on my top 3 best ramen restaurants list.

I absolutely love their Tantanmen. You MUST order this. It's not on the menu and is avsilable at dinner time at limited quantities so try to go for early dinner. Other ramen variants are also good. The flavor in their broth is exquisite.

I have never seen Ukokkei with empty seats. I have not found my favorite here but their ramen definitely fills me up more than what I can eat. Aiming to try their Tantanmen since they only produce 20 bowls of it per day. Their set meals will also make your stomachs full as all of my friends that have eaten it have never finished everything on it.

Ramen here! Ramen everywhere!

Everyone just seems so enticed with Ramen nowadays. I don’t know for what reason but I just love it! So my forever-hungry friends and I decided to try Ukokkei Ramen Ron along Mckinley Hill in Taguig. I was very eager to try it. First timers will understand!

The very first time that we got in to the place, the waitresses welcomed us with a Japanese term that I really didn’t understand. I wanted to say “moshi moshi” because that’s just one of the few Japanese terms that I know. Anyways, the theme was very “Japs-looking”, we even removed our shoes before we sat on a very comfy couch.

Every time I order, I always ask what their best-seller is, to which I did when I tried it here! They said if I like spicy ramen, I shall go for TanTan Men. I love spicy food. I like the thrill that I get whenever I eat food like that. Moving on, I ordered what they told me to which is the TanTan Men, it’s not in the menu. However, you can see it on the wall posted.

I was very excited to try it. When it was placed, I hurriedly took a sip! It didn’t disappoint me. Clap! Clap! One of my friends who was with me that time liked my ramen much more than what he ordered! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TANTANMEN FOR RAMEN LOVERS!

Giving it a 4.5 because I will definitely have my TanTan Men anytime soon!

Loved eating at Ukokkei, though admittedly my first time to try their branch at McKinley. Ukokkei never fails to give the feel of traditional Japanese ramen served with quality. I absolutely love eating their Ramen and their meals. I also enjoyed how clean the restaurant was and how surprisingly big and spacious it was compared to the branch at Taft.

Me and my friends ordered one of their lunch set that is composed of Ramen of your choice, fried rice/plain rice, a very weird salad and gyoza. The price seems to be reasonable since the shole set is only 380 pesos and you will be able to eat all of this.

I choose Miso ramen (for my ramen of choice) and chahan (for my rice) and as for the service, I can definitely tell that they are quite fast and very attentive like the service that I used to love in Yabu.

As for the food, I am surprised that their Miso ramen is very tasty and full of flavor. I was able to finish the whole bowl even if I am very full already due to the salad that was served as well. The only thing I don't like on the ramen is their noodles because it seems that it is the processed type not the ones that in Ramenagi. I also love the gyoza here (though the one that was served to us was very toasted and burnt a little on its bottom part) because of the strong flavor of ginger or kuchay ( I can't tell exactly what it is... Sorry >___

Being a vegetarian, a ramen bar is not something I would be excited to eat at. Although I love Japanese food, I don't have much option when it comes to ramen bowls as most are served with animal-based broth.

So I asked the server at Ukokkei if they can substitute hot water instead of the silk-fowl broth for my miso ramen, and they said it's possible. Happy to say that it did not disappoint. The serving was huge, value for the price (Php360), although it's not something to rave about. My ramen didn't have any toppings except garlic, although extra toppings (boiled eggs, chopped leeks, etc.) are available for additional price.

I usually don't think of ramen as an option when I'm craving for something Japanese, and probably won't come back, but Ukokkei is definitely a good ramen place.

We ordered Tantanmen and Gyoza. The Tantanmen is not included in the menu but some signs on the wall at the 2nd floor mentions that it is available. The server said its their best seller and it's only available from 6pm onwards. It is really very spicy but very yummy! Served in a big bowl. I now can't imagine if this is the regular sized bowl, how big would the BIG bowl they're offering be?! I'm now confused which is my number 1! Yushoken vs Ukokkei... ????

The gyoza is very good too though it's quite smaller than the ones from the other Ramen places. Size is almost near a passport size photo. There are 5 pcs in an order worth P120. There is a slight crunch on the fried part which makes the blend of flavors seem to burst when you take a bite.

dined here sunday late lunch at mckinley branch. arrived at around 1:20 (and did not realize it was closing time - nothing at door to mention opening and closing times). food was good but staff attitude is something else was make anyone blow steam complete with profanity. anyways they seated us at a table near the entrance so since it was pretty empty except for one table, we requested to be seated elsewhere. staff was aghast and even had a conference amongst themselves to reach a decision whether we can be seated elsewhere ! after much ado, they finally and hesitantly agreed to let us seat at our preferred area. secondly, we gave our food orders and staff said if we needed anything else as they were taking last orders. after less than 5 minutes, we decided to upsize our ramen as it was last order but we were told that was not possible as kitchen was closed! talk about inflexibility ! how much effort does the kitchen have to exert to add more broth and boil noodles to warrant a no more changing order reply? it is not like we were ordering steak. to top it all of this negative staff attitude, kitchen staff were talking negatively about us behind our backs ....at an earshot. we heard glowing reviews about ukokkei which was accurate but staff attitude made it all a very unpleasant sunday lunch experience.
