It was not crowded that time and this was before the enhanced quarantine). I like how the staff were very inviting. It was my first time here and the staff were eager to help and assist me.
I ordered the Chicken Paitan Udon. It was made creamy. The soup was quite light but the creamy flavor is there. I'm not a fan of thick noodles like Udon because somehow, it was chewy. The Spam Omusubi looks interesting, will try that next time.
Price point is on the affordable - average/reasonable side.
Amidst our Enhanced Community Quarantine because of covid19 or corona virus, it is nice to know that we can still enjoy some of our creature comforts via delivery. We are all in luck because Marugame Udon BGC opened for delivery and take out from March 25 onwards 11am to 5pm. I dont know about you but I love Marugame Udon's Beef Udon which is a steal at P185 for the regular size. Teriyaki Chicken Special P200 is amazing too.
Marugame Udon is so consistent and their udon is sooo good! We had the mild Chicken Paitan Udon and Beef Yaki Udon. Both were good! Along with perfectly fried Chicken Karaage. To have some rice in the mix, we got the ever reliable Gyudon
I have always been a fan of Marugame Udon. Having been my first time to visit this branch, I got Gyudon bowls and some tempura to go.
The restaurant looks so attractive and it caught our attention while we're walking along Bonifacio High Street. The paintings here will make you questioned what is the meaning of these. The crews are fast for their service. We'll come back here sooner or later.

It was my first time to try Marugame. It was lunch time and I was surprised that there were no queue so we immediately went inside. While I was checking the prices, it's not as expensive as other restaurants. Ordering the food was also different because you have to fall in line and tell the cook/chef what you want and they will make it in front of you and then give it to you right away then you move to the side dishes that you can get per piece. They have Karaage, Trmpura, Onigiri, Gyoza, and many more. After that, you go to the cashier to pay. They accept card and cash. They have refill station for ice, grated ginger, cut green onions, fried crumbs, and many more. Now for the taste, i was very pleased with their Beef Gyudon. The taste was so good for me! It has the right amount of saltiness and sweetness. The beef was tender. The sauce was tasty and they were very generous with the engridients and serving so I was really impressed with it. Most of the Japanese restaurants are really expensive and this one is not that expensive but the quality is good. If you're craving for Beef Gyudon, I highly recommend this place. I was happy and very satisfied!

We only ordered their regular noodles with some slides but sulit lahat especially their curry udon and chicken karaage. Whenever I pass by in High Street after work, I always see this restaurant in long queue that made me wonder why. Curiosity got me so I tried this restaurant in not so peak hours. From then, this is my go-to place when craving for Japanese food but within the budget.
My regular orders here are Beef Ontama Udon or Gyudon which both are so good. I also love their tempura which is a perfect side for either udon or gyudon. The serving is enough to get you full plus the price that makes it all worth it.
Their order process is sort of like a food court - you get your own tray, order your food, get sides if you want to, and pay at the counter. Their ambiance is simple though the staff are just okay. I hope they open a branch in the South.

I ordered a regular pork samurai udon and a sweet potato. I was looking for an umami broth, still good.
But when we saw the receipt they punch the wrong order so my order was expensive. I guess next time I'll just tell them what I ordered.

Wonderful concept. Wonderful value for money. 250p for nice fresh meal with free access sauce bar, quick serving. Fried pork Katsu was good, I tried the chicken tariyaki (I recommend to order different item, they have better)
Favorite meal was Teriyaki Chickendon, Beef Yakuniku and Spicy Beef. Affordable price and taste was great. The sides are a bit pricey. Pork Tonkatsu was the best among all sides for me.
I met up with my friends and we had lunch here at Marugame Udon. I really wanted to eat there but there was always a long line outside whenever I pass by. We also lined up but the line wasn't that long and we got in after a few minutes. Ordering is really quick and you can choose the food that you want as you line up. I ordered the Gyudon. For 170pesos, the serving is really big. I didn't get to finish all of it as I already feel full. Can't wait to go back so I can try their other dishes.
From the first time I ate here till now this place never fails to satisfy me. What I really love is that you get what you want at the line (just like a school cafeteria) and the price is not pricey at all! The udon noodles are just perfect, chewy and really really good. I always get the tonkatsu and the tempura since they are cheap. The ambiance is really nice and the place could get quite packed during lunch and dinner time. I would recommend this place is you are craving for Japanese food.

There are so much F&B options to try out in Manila. One that was recommended to us by a relative is to try Marugame Udon, which I presumed is a noodle place. By the name of the restaurant, it is an Udon place however they also offer so much more other than Udon.
They have this partially self-service concept where you order or take your food yourself which gives thrill to the dining experience - you will need to fall in line (similar to how you do in the cafeteria) select your order and you also have the liberty to get some food items that are ready for you to take. A cashier is available at the end of the queue for payments.
We ordered katsudon and Sakuyaki ninja from the chef (specially prepared) and we got some fried tempura on the side. Katsudon was good and tasty (my husband is a bit conventional that time and ordered a food that he already knows). Sakuyaki Ninja Udon was a first time for me. I specifically asked for recommendation and I was told about this. The taste is not new to me, but the flavors each ingredient has compliments each other. The udon were fresh and so was the egg in it. The beef were tender and flavorful.
Service wise, there’s not much to say as there was less service offered due to the concept. This branch was not as full as the one from BGC so we got seated quickly.
I would love to try more of their menu items when I get the chance to. Love the concept, their food (so far) and prices are just reasonable with the quality of food that they offer. Definitely going to come back.
Affordable and delicious Japanese food. We got katsudon and gyudon rice bowls and both were really flavorful! We also had additional gyoza and tempura (which I liked a lot). One piece was enough as the rice bowls we're quite filling.
It was a fun experience for us as a family, as we liked that we had to line up, give our orders and pay at the end. It was a new experience for my son where he could choose what to order and carry a tray with his food (which was just the gyoza). Almost everything is self service but the waiters are ready to assist.
Excited to return with my hubby alone next time and try the other dishes.

The beef in the udon was very flavorful, it's on the sweeter side. I love the thick noodles, although I suggest that don't order tol much sides if you already have the udon since it's a heavy meal.
Not my favorite noodle dish but it is good and worth the good money!

My husband keeps telling me about this place since this is where he dines every after his class so I wanted to check the place and why my husband keeps coming back all the time.
Luckily, there was no cue for ordering. According to my husband every lunch time the line gets really long.
I was tasked to order our food so I lined up and looked.for their menu - which was really straigt forward, you order per station, 1st is the hot/cold ramen which was really cool that they give you the option for your noodles. Next is the rice bowls which normally takes atleast 5-10mins to get prepared and the 3rd stop would be the other sides like tonkatsu, tempura and etc. you get to pick which you like and just add them on your plate which was really cool!
Service was okay but my rice bowl order got stuck in the kitchen for almost 20mins when actually it should only be 10mins, I needed to follow up. Pretty much self service even the sauce area and water. Price was affordable with how big the serving of each food.
Food was great! I loved the Beef Yakiniku, sooo good!! Price was okay too. We loved everything we ordered. People line up for their food and they’ve proven to be worth the line and wait. Plenty of seats but the lines make sure that it wouldn’t be overly crowded inside the restaurant. Nice concept, great food at a good price.
Already ate here twice. Great udon and even the curry. I like the cafeteria style wherein you get to choose the number of tempura and other viands. Also, plus points for the onigiri and the fried tempura bits! Would have rated 5 if not for our second time when the hot udon order of one of my friends was served with lukewarm broth.

Marugame is packed most of the time. Simply because they serve authentic and really good Japanese food. Waiting time for yor food is quick. Plus, prices are reasonable too!
food is great!!! taste is 10/10, ambience of the resto is very warming and the interior is beautiful! ive ordered regular beef udon for only 185 pesos, and also tonkatsu for 75 pesos for sidedish. i love the crunchiness of it and its good with the tonkatsu sauce. overall, price is great value. i'll definitely come back.

What i really like about this ramen place is that there are various sizes to choose from and it is really good because some people can’t finish a whole one and in a family almost everyone have different preferences and flavors they want to try and this ramen shop is one of our go to because we can choose all small sizes and order a lot fo flavours haha yes we eat a lot! Their ramens are the bomb. Though for their gyoza nothing really special hoping it will be improved.
Ambiance is good, gives you the authentic feels. The selection is simple and straight forward. I am not a big fan of ramen but for me this is worth your bucks.
By far my favorite japanese restaurant! Food is 5/5. Service is 5/5. Ambience is 5/5. Price is 5/5. This is the perfect place to be if you’re craving for some authentic japanese experience.

From the restaurant, to having the food delivered, I can say that Marugame Udon offers the best udon and Gyudon for its price range. I just hope that they give more space on the tables.

My favorite is of course their Sukiyaki Ninja. It's just so sweet, and the beef is so soft, and grabe just taste it for yourself. My usual order.
They also have the Beef Bukkake which is very savory and my 2nd choice when I'm not in the mood for the Ninja. They have other flavors for the udon but I'm just too hooked with the usuals.
For the side dishes, I order the vegetable tempura and the pork katsudon. These, paired with a bowl of udon is enough for a very happy meal. Yum. A must try when you're in the BGC area and it is really worth the wait in the line.
Tried their best seller beef ontana bukkake udon and it was superb. Udon was cooked perfectly, very cheey. Soup was light. Beef was succelent and full of flavor! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Also ordered pork katsudob and even that is very yummy, pork was juicy and breading was crunchy and not nakakaumay! Paired with its sauce, it was perfect

I was indifferent with this new place at first. It took me months before I get to try.
Earlier, me and my officemates fell in line to 'try'. One of us already tried their food more than once and he said the food was great and fulfilling.
I was craving for gyudon and I was lucky that they were offering it. I did not regret it. The size of the serving was good for 2 if you are not much of an eater. Taste is also sulit for the price.
Ambience, well, it seems as if you have to leave as soon as you're done because of the long line waiting outside. The aircon was not that freezing which is advisable if they are offering soups and udons. Although as soon as you leave, you are taking the smell of the restaurant with you.
Food is cheap but taste is great. It is worth trying and coming back to. ☺️
The queue is long when I visited the place but the wait time was pretty decent. While you wait, you can enjoy watching the crew handpull the noodles. This place is worth every penny. Udon is so tasty itself. Broth is oh so good too! Must try is their spam musubi and chicken karaage.
Always good to go with friends. You can create customized dishes. I love udon bigtime and ever since I visited Japan- I have been a fan of udon.

The most affordable Japanese restaurant
My colleagues and I decided to try this udon restaurant just across our workplace. Waiting time is just 10-15 minutes before getting inside the actual resto. They encourage self-service which is a big plus for me. I tried their Spicy Pork Udon. It's not that spicy but overall, the taste is great especially the noodles. They make good udon. Price is very friendly. We will definitely go back.

This place is hands down one of my favorite restaurants EVER - their food is really good and their dishes are hella affordable.
If you happen to pass by High Street and see a long queue at one of the restos there, I’m willing to bet that it’s at Marugame.
If that line still does not win you over, then I’ll put it out there loud and proud - it is simply worth it. 😁
As you can see from my pics, I always go for their gyudon every time I go there - very tasty, very filling, and for less that P200 for a bowl, including an additional poached egg, it’s definitely more than worth it.
I’ve always been a stickler for what works and in this case, it has always been gyudon for me.
But just to be fair to their other dishes, I’m glad to say they’re equally worth it as well. I brought my parents here and I’m not kidding when I say that this place has become their fave as well.
My dad’s seal of approval was basically cemented when he said that it’s the first place here that he tried that actually serves legit flavors just like the dishes he had in Japan.
My mom? Well, she now asks me to bring her take-outs from here every time I can. 😊

We always order the Chicken Paitan, Beef Ontama Bukkake & Tendon here. I love their Chicken Paitan. I usually order it in Regular size as I noticed the taste changes if you upsize it to Large. Their Udon noodle is really soft and chewy. Their food is really cheap for the area where it’s located. Very straight forward, nothing fancy about it, just good food.
The tables inside it are very small. But I love that every table has utensils and water in it for easy access.
TIP: If you are planning to eat here, there is always a line every meal time. Make sure to go there early.

I am just so in love with their kakeage udon. Though theres always a queue, the line moves fast and the staff assisting with seats sre very efficient.

Ordered the Large serving size for beef ontama bukkake udon and it was good! I was impressed with how the egg didn't break when they placed it in my bowl. After paying for my food, I went to the condiments area and added tempura flakes + scallions to make this bowl even more delicious.
I also liked the ordering process of falling in line in the counter then getting to choose / order your udon and then choosing fried side dishes.
Highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys Japanese food!
Marugame Udon is definitely a great choice, value for money wise. They also offer a variety of tasty dishes, not to mention that you can see them preparing some of your meals upon ordering. Expect long queues especially during lunch and dinner time, but trust me, it's worth the "hassle" of falling in line to get your food. The ambience is not too much to be elaborated for though, because it's quite small considering the number of people who want to eat there. Overall, good food and good price come together for this go-to place of Japanese dishes. 😊
My friend and i dined in here dinner time so the line is really long but worth the wait. We're surprised with the price and the heapings of each food. Service is great although i noticed that Glorietta branch (my 2nd dining experience where I'm alone) has a much better service than the BGC branch.

This was such a great dining experience. You start with picking your udon/main course and then on your way to the cashier, you'd be met by all the side dishes available for pick-up to add your meal. It feels kinda like a buffet, so you know, it feels cool. Haha!
In my two visits within three days, I've tried the beef ontama bukkake udon and the chicken paitan udon. I like the former better. The servings of the protein were generous, although the broth might be a bit lacking. The beef and chicken were cooked perfectly and they weren't the fatty cuts. The beef broth tasted like bulalo, but 3x better and more beefier and a little bit oily even if it wasn't oily. The chicken was normal chicken stock, nothing much more.
The salmon onigiri/musubi was a bit dry in my opinion, although for some weird reason, as basic as it can sound, the spam musubi was really delicious! I've also tried their other side dishes like the tonkatsu, the prawn tempura, gyoza, and breaded tamago.
Most of their side dishes were good since they're always served hot. One thing I noticed about their tonkatsu and tempura though is that the breading is a little bit too thick. Taste-wise, they were tasty and cooked just right. They're best paired with their dipping sauces available after the counter (katsu sauce same as Yabu, tempura sauce). You can also add tempura flakes and scallions to your liking.
It's fun to dine in here.
This place serves delicious and cheap japanese udon and rice meals. The prices are far lower than regular japanese restaurants, the thing is the queuing usually takes quite long since a bunch of people lines up for this. But other than that, everything else is good.
Dined here with my friends for dinner. There was a line but the turnover of people is fast so it didn't take a long time for us to be seated.
I'm not a fan of udon. I find it too thick and most of the time, the noodles do not complement the flavor of the broth. The udon here is different. Noodles are great and flavorful. Broth is wow when mixed with the half boiled egg. Side dishes are great too.
I ordered the bukkake udon regular sized. Had to eat the side dishes at home because I was so full.

The Beef Ontama Bukake Udon is great! The broth is tasty and the noodles are firm. Even the beef itself is flavorful especially if you will break the egg in the soup. I will give it 5!
However, I also got a sidedish, their tonkatsu which is not that soft and the tuna onigiri with not much tuna but more of rice. I kind of disappointed with their side dish, since I expected a lot from it after eating the udon. I hope they will be able to improve it.
The customer service is great, and the waitress is very accommodating in taking out our leftover food.
The ambience is a little Japanese.

This is a self-serve restaurant for the most part: you walk in, take a tray on the counter and order away. We ordered a chicken paitan udon, a sukiyaki udon and tempura shrimp. The chicken paitan udon is just ok but the sukiyaki udon and tempura shrimp are very good for what you pay for. In this place, you get a good, quick food for a reasonable price.

If you want a different approach in a japanese dining (well, here in the ph atleast), this is the place to go.
You start your experience by lining up outside (lines can be terrible though, but we were lucky enough to wait only for 10-15 minutes), then as soon as you enter the restaurant, you will be greeted by a big menu, where you can somewhat choose which way you are going (udon or donburi or both?).

Get a tray, get a side dish plate, choose your udon, move along the line, get your udon, choose your sides, decide if you want more food (rice, omelette), move along the line, get your drinks, pay at the cashier, get condiments, select a table, and enjoy. :)
Food: We got the Beef Ontama Bukkake Udon and the Spicy Pork Udon. For the sides we got the Sweet Potato Ten, Tamago Ten, Chicken Karaage, Noritama Omusubi, and Zucchini Tempura. Everything single one was very good. Seasoned very well, the broth was rich, the tamago was cooked perfectly, chicken karaage was still very cripsy.
Service: Well, they have a nice system, which lessens the waiting time to be fed, since after the queue, you get your food, and you can start eating. They still have waiters that roam around the restaurant making sure that your needs are provided.
Ambiance: Rustic feel, typical japanese restaurant. Place is cold, clean and very presentable. Hard to fit strollers or other bulky items that you might have on you though.
My favorite udon place. I go straight here whenever I feel like eating udon. My favorites would be sukiyaki ninja and beef paitan. Yummy food and worth the price.
The gem of this restaurant lies on the kare (curry) udon, which perfectly pairs with the kakiage (carrot and onion tempura). The thought of this pairing makes me drool all over. Having this dish regularly in Japan makes me do a very fair comparison to what this Marugame Udon branch has. And for Pete's sake, the store says udon! Go order it.
My friend tried gyudon and for me, the dish could be better. Gyudon is pretty much easy to make even at home and seeing that kind of quality in a store famed for good Japanese classics, is pretty disappointing.
The line outside the store becomes long fairly quickly, so if you are on a hunger bash you must munch on something light first before braving the queue.
I absolutely love udon. I enjoy it a lot more than ramen too. I'm really happy Marugame lived up to my expectations and all the hype.

The food was filling. I had the Beef Ontama Bukkake Udon and of course the Spam Musubi I can not pass. Very reasonable price. Not really a fan of Udon but it was good. I think I’ll try the Curry Rice next time 🥘

Most reviews say that it takes a while to order your food because of the long queue. Surprisingly, we were just 5th on the line when we first tried Marugame BGC.
Reasonable price and good food. It’s also just easy to order cos you’ll be the one to decide which sidings you prefer to add. For me, DIY is better than the set meals.
Always wondered why there are so many people in line outside the store, turns out it's because it's like a canteen with Japanese food, you pick your udon then some fried stuff, get them as you go then u pay at the end then that's when you can find a sit. It's nice and different than a regular fancy restaurant.
The noodles is fine, the beef is so soft, and karage taste good! Not bad for the price 😋

The food is affordable! My mum is picky but she loves the food so much. They could use a little bit of expansion, tho. Place gets packed during lunch - when I say packed I mean the line to get into the resto ends somewhere outside the store. Nevertheless, food quality is superb. Thumbs up on the price :)
