It was my first ramen experience (I know, i know - kinda lame LOL) - absolutely amazing! I can’t compare it with any other ramen as of yet, but it’s good and tastes authentic. Will definitely go back.
Food: ordered spicy curry ramen and tonkatsu. Verrrry affordable. Large servings. Ramen was not really spicy. Broth was really tasty and thick. Noodles were firm and not soggy. The chashu were soft and nicely sliced. Tonkatsu was good and large for its price. Mayo was good.
Place: clean and spacious. We arrived there at 1130 and the customers kept on coming every 10mins. Simple interiors.
Staff: polite and accommodating.
They accept cards and cash. Will definitely come back!!!
Will probably become my go-to ramen place since their broth isn't salty. Their serving size is also perfect for my appetite & worth the price.
I think this is a great place to go to if you want yummy budget-friendly japanese food. I tried the spicy miso ramen, curry ramen and tantanmen and they all had very rich flavor. The curry ramen tastes exactly like curry and the tantanmen tastes like peanuts; the flavor’s really good but I personally don’t like those broths for my ramen. The pork slices in my ramen were good too. You can taste the flavor in the meat which gives a great break from the taste of the broth. I don’t know if it’s just me but I didn’t like their noodles; it tasted bland to me. Overall a good meal👌🏼
Enjoyed several visits to this branch already, mostly dining on their spicy chicken paitan - a good and light yet very flavorful alternative to the more popular tonkotsu, shoyu, shio, miso, and tantanmen dishes served elsewhere.
Price is fair - none of their ramen dishes go beyond P200, and several of their non-ramen dishes fall below the P150 ceiling and are tasty and filling.
Perfect place for a quick stopover or meal during this current season of monsoon rain and storms. Unlike most ramen places, the resto is capable of packaging your orders for take-out.
My friend and I passed by this place while we were searching for a restaurant but the rain suddenly poured. We figured out that ramen would be best for rainy days so we gave it a go.
I wanted to have the spicy tantanmen but it wasn't available, so I opted for spicy chicken paitan, while my friend ordered the non-spicy version of it.
I didn't know if I enjoyed it because I was really hungry or if it is was really good, but maybe both. I love that the spicy paitan isn't as spicy as some spicy ramen I've tasted. It's tolerable for someone like me who likes spicy food but couldn't last for extreme spicyness. The broth is also delicious and flavored exactly the way I want it.
The staff are really friendly too. I appreciate it that the staff who accomodated us let us place our wet umbrellas inside instead of outside unattended because someone might snatch them.
Thank you so much. We might've just saw this ramen house by chance but we really enjoyed our meal. :)
Their ramen is ok though but for someone who loves the thick pork ramen broth, Im not necessarily crazy about the chiken broth. But nevertheless, it was filling and their service was great not to mention their price is really affordable.
Probably one of our go to place for affordable ramen!!! There aren't too much items on their menu which is great because it wouldn't be so hard choosing what you wanna eat. You get more than what you paid for.
Found a new Fave Japanese Restaurant. 😍walang tapon sa @happonramenhouse we love everything we ordered. Check out my IG Story highlight "Happon" (@vinnavinz) to know a few more about the dishes we ordered.
What I loved the most is their kewpie! An original kewpie from JP.
- Miso Ramen is surprisingly great.
- Gyoza; it's really hard to find a gyoza that I like. Theirs is the 2nd gyoza I liked in my entire existence.
- their Karaage is satisfying. The crunchiness on the outside perfectly matches the juiciness inside.
- Pork Tonkatsu's meat is cooked nicely.
- Chahan is tasty, my son loved it.
I super love their side dishes than the ramen. Their rice meals are superb. Generous servings and affordable price! The ambiance is minimalist and spacious.
It's a great place for people on a budget. The interior is quirky and the staff are attentive. Volume-wise, the ramen is definitely worth its price, v sulit.
Will recommend to friends on a budget and will consider coming back for comfort ramen that won't break the bank.
I've had a lot of ramen in the past couple of years. And I find that for the most part, you get what you pay for. Meh price, meh ramen with ok noodles, a flavorful broth, some meat. An egg if you're lucky. Steep price, foodgasmic ramen in an awesome ambiance with great service. But here at Happon Ramen House, my friends and I were very pleased to find affordable ramen and gyoza that tasted great! A bowl of any ramen is priced at 198, and you can make it spicy if you like, free of charge. Gyoza is only 108 for 6 pieces!! Pretty good for that price, though the dip is soy sauce and not gyoza sauce, it seems. But other than that, we were very happy with our curry ramen bowls. Flavorful broth, meat with a smoky bit of char to it, and noodles with just the right amount of bite. The egg was pretty good, though mine came out a bit sour in the end. Would definitely come back. ❤
I go here everytime I want affordable, no-fuss, and quality ramen. Of course you can’t compare it with the other high end ramen bars, but you get what you pay for. Definitely fits the description of comfort food.
You just dont ignore this budget friendly ramen house along sikatuna village. Gyoza was quite disappointing, but the ramen wasnt--considering the price. It's my first time to try out edamame and i had fun eating it 😉 dined here via zomato gold
Looking for a budget friendly ramen?
Happon is the place to be.
The food is good and the affordable price doesn’t sacrifice the taste and quality of the Ramen.
Tried their Miso and it was delicious.
Affordable and tasty ramen! Their menu is limited and consists mostly of ramen, but it's not really an issue because their ramen is delicious!
The only available dessert at the time of visit was matcha ice cream, but it was surprisingly good.
Great for a quick and inexpensive katsu or ramen meal. Mains at under P200, including their ramen, and my fried pork chop was just over P100 - without rice, though. Prices might go up soon, but even then probably the best deal for miles.
Ramen taste so good, The place is cozy I will recommend this to mu friends, staffs are approachable, I only gave 4 star cause sa location maybe medjo malayu pero worth it.
The food is good considering the price. Student-friendly prices and well-sized serving. Nice interiors = nice ambience. Some of the staff are not too polite, though.
Cravings for some Ramen? Head out to this restaurant for an affordable Japanese cuisine that will satisfy your tummy plus your budget! The place is very clean, has great ambiance and the service is great as well!!
Looking for Japanese food that will not overkill your wallet? Happon ramen house is the place for you.
Two ramens, gyoza, and additional cups of rice will cost less than P900 and would satisy your happy tummy cravings. Perfect for ultra hungry date nights.
Place: 4/5
Food: 4/5
Price: 3.5/5
Service: 3.5/5
If you’re looking for an affordable and decent ramen house, then this is the place for you!
We ordered 3 lunch combos and 1 spicy curry ramen ala carte. Rating it 4 stars because we waited like 20-30 minutes for the food
The price is fair for the food. I love the ambiance of their place and definitely I will go back to this place coz I also want to try the other choices of their ramen. By the way, we order the Miso ramen, gyoza and kaarage. I spent about 600 pesos only 😊
If you are looking for a Japanese place with value for money, head to this gem located in Maginhawa. It is our second time at this place and still pleasantly surprised with the flavorful and almost authentic Japanese cuisine. For its price, I must say it’s a bang for your bucks. The chicken paitan is packed with flavor and spice and particularly liked the salty egg. The gyoza is also surprisingly good. Chicken karaage also did not disappoint. Green tea ice cream is too bitter for my taste, though and unfortunately, mochi balls are not available.
First time in Happon was good - for 200 PHP per bowl of ramen, you really get your money's worth.
Came back here just this month and I felt like the soup broth was all pepper? Not sure if they have consistency problems or if it was just because we came near closing time already.
Would also be better if they could have at least 1 server maybe on the second floor? We were ready with our orders but had to wait a while as everyone was stationed on the 1st floor.
I heard there’s a new ramen house nearby and i didnt hesitate to try it out. Decent ramen in maginhawa, not spectacular but good enough for my palate. Will definitely go back to try other dishes. Nice place!
Went there on a Friday evening and even though all tables were taken due to dinner peak hours, we were accommodated well by the staff. We ordered the Paitan Ramen, Miso Ramen, Gyoza and Matcha Ice Cream. I had the Miso Ramen and it was tasty. The broth is okay, and I liked the way the meat has flavors even if it looks so plain. All in all, I loved the miso ramen because of its flavors playing in my palate whenever I sip its soup. I also liked the gyoza, because the sauce compliments it well and it's good for its price. The sauce is not salty, which is a plus for me.
The best part is the dessert. I wasn't able to take a photo, but the matcha ice cream tastes great! I loved it. :)
Will definitely come back for more. My companion says Happon Ramen House is a good start, for it's the first time for that person to ever try ramen.
They offer very affordable ramen. The staff are friendly and served our meal fast. We tried their spicy miso ramen and ordered Gyōza too which made a perfect pair. Next time, I'll try the house specialty, Paitan ramen. The ramen goes best with the spicy oil.
The reason for the 3.5 rating is because of the broth, it needs more taste to it. It tastes a little bland.
It may not be a "genuine" Japanese restaurant (meaning, the one running the kitchen is not a Japanese national... of course, I may be wrong?), but we were quite satisfied with what was served. My mom, my nephew (he treated us for lunch! Thank you, Robb!) and I ordered the classics: Tonkatsu, Gyoza, Karaage and Curry Ramen (what can be more classic than those?). And we enjoyed the food.
The temperature was just right (though, it got a bit warm as lunch crowd started coming in). The radio was on the loud side that we requested the staff to lower it so more meaningful discussion among the dinners could be had. Speaking of the staff, the servers were efficient. Not extraordinary but efficient. And that's okay by us. Food was served within the promised estimate.
One thing though. The toilet is located on the second floor and that might serve as a big challenge to Seniors and to PWD diners. I, myself, am a holder of the PWD card and I know, correct me if I'm wrong, isn't there a law that require restaurant owners to provide such an essential facility to be placed on the first level? Oh well, we are in the Philippines. Bawal lang kung mahuli.
It would have been perfect, Happon Ramen House. Just the same, I will come back. But next time, I will empty my bladder before stepping on your restaurant and will remember not to order anything diuretic that would force me to risk my neck climbing the stairs.
Place is modern and clean. Food is around average, the noodles they use are kinda like instant noodles. Price is definitely cheaper than regular ramen stores around. Their gyoza is good!
If you feel like 500 peso is too much for a bowl of ramen, Happon Ramen House is swak for you! They serve big bowl of noodles with generous amount of toppings.
Their add ons such as gyoza and tonkatsu seems to be very reasonable for its price. Taste is also satisfying. I really recommend this place and I’m looking forward to visit it again.
If you're having that daily dose of craving for ramen, this is a good place to dine in especially if you're in Maginhawa. This is ramen made affordable for me, for you, and for us. I've been here a couple of times already but, I've only tried their Spicy Paitan and Spicy Curry ramen (my favorite). I do suggest that you order the Curry or the spicy variant since I find this more flavorful than the paitan ones. You get to taste that rich, spicy, flavorful broth, top it off with a generous serving of noodles. The charsiu could use a lot of improvement as it tastes bland, kinda smoky everytime. For dessert, I recommend their matcha ice cream as it is one of the cheapest I've seen. For less than P100, you get a large scoop of ice cream with a few mochi pcs on the side. Aside from the food, I was amazed of the beautiful, modern interior of this restaurant that I wished I could take it back home.
Maganda yung place,very modern.
Kakaunti lang yung staff so expect slow service pero very accompdating sila. Matagal lang talaga bago dumating yung order took us about 45-60 mins.
Food was meh. We ordered spicy curry Ramen and Karaage. Yung broth ng ramen was good. But the noodles were very generic and too thick. The egg was also too salty. Kaarge was good, better than what I expected. We also ordered gyoza(not in the pictures) the wrapper was too thick pero ok yung taste.
Overall, maganda yung place if your craving for ramen on a budget. And its near maginhawa house at madaling mahanap but if you're looking for authentic ramen, the place might be not for you.
affordable comfort Japanese food. love their miso ramen & spicy miso ramen. i am a soup & ramen person & i’m quite picky with my broths, but Happon’s ramen is bang for the buck, more than satisfying my craving for a really good but quick jap food fix in the neighborhood.
plus, you gotta give props to the owners for sharing their Banksy & Gorillaz coffee table books :)
Happon Ramen House is a gastronomic place to everyone who is looking for a comfort food right after a very long toxic day. The ambiance of the place is very warm. With its modern industrial theme, bright yellow lights and welcoming staffs it made the place look so inviting to sit back and relax and just enjoy the food.
We ordered paitan and miso for ramen, 2rice meal and of course all the side dishes so we can try almost everything. Among all the ramen I've tasted here in the metro it is safe to say their noodles tasted so fresh with its smooth and silky texture. For the rice meal the rice was perfectly cooked and all the fried stuffs were perfectly cooked without any excess oil in our plates. For a person who computes their daily calories I would say their food is something that is a guiltless plessure to indulge your self to. Plus their food is not salty. Over all it's almost perfect. Maybe they just need to add more healthy options in their menu like seafood, vegetable viands or side dishes.
I spend less than 1,000pesos for four persons. It was all worth it.
Surprisingly good for a 198php bowl of ramen! Ordered their Spicy Miso Ramen and Spicy Chicken Paitan Ramen, they may look alike but they definitely don’t taste the same. Loved their Miso Ramen, it was full of flavor and their broth wasn’t ‘nakakaumay’, my boyfriend had the Spicy Chicken Paitan Ramen and he liked it, he said it the flavor was just right. The only downside to their ramen is the noodles, it had that instant noodles feel but for 198php, I can’t complain. Also ordered their 6 pcs. Gyoza for only 100php, it was also very delicious and it didn’t taste like they skimped on ingredients. And also, try their Sukiyaki-don, one of the best tasting rice bowls I have ever tried, you won’t regret it.
The interiors of the restaurant were very nice, I loved their lighting and the place was very spacious. It definitely didn’t look cheap. I recommend this place for people looking for good ramen on a budget.
Tried out their "best sellers" Chicken Paitan and Miso Ramen and both seemed to taste fine (we also added an order of Gyoza which also tasted good). Orders were served fast maybe roughly around 5-8mins. Staff are also quick to respond to our queries.
Matching their menu prices to their order, I believe it's already worth a visit.
Place was quite spacious compare to what I expected (it's 2 floors and looked new). Room was well lit and ventilated plus the restrooms are well maintained - good job.
I ordered tan tan ramen as usual (spicy is lyf). I was expecting richer and more flavorful broth but i tasted mostly was the spiciness and a hint of bitterness which I was not sure kung san galing yung lasa na yun. I loved the noodles. It's stretchy but firm. I also liked the tamago. Really tasty! Chasu was good, melts in your mouth. In terms of the ambiance, it didn't feel like you were in a Japanese restaurant. Could consider having staff who would greet you in Japanese (or maybe they were already tired since i got here like so late). Nevertheless I could go back and try the other options.
A Japanese restaurant with elegant, stylish and well-lit interior. The place is spacious and it has a wide parking area. We ordered two of their ramen. The Chicken Paitan ramen was bland but it was still good. On the other hand, the Miso ramen was flavorful. We also tried their Tonkatsu which was tender and tasty. When it comes to their service, I can say that it was good for we did not wait long enough for our food to be served. Overall, Happon Ramen House serves authentic Japanese dishes with a reasonable price.
Finally! Another Japanese Restaurant nearby! ❤️️ Tried their Katsudon for the first time and it was good! :) we also ordered Gyoza and Gyudon. So far, everything tasted good. You should guys give it a shot!
Talk about authentic and affordable, THEY HAVE IT!! Affordable ramen that starts from 198 pesos. Noodles are finely cooked, and the soup base is very flavorful. Also, Staffs here are very accomodating and the ambiance of the place is very modern and cozy. Perfect for people who loves the slurp their favorite ramen.
Affordable Japanese comfort food. 198 for a Ramen, not bad.
What was a turnoff was the service. Servers constantly mix up orders with the other tables.
Some servers arent that nice, not friendly, always frowning .
Food took 25mins to come out.
Tonkatsu too dry.
Gyoza similar to what you can buy frozen.
Overall, great ambiance, ok food. Hoping for improvements
I love Japanese foods, especially Ramen. That's why Im always on the lookout for new restaurants that offers affordable yet delicious foods, and I think Happon Ramen House has been added to my favorite list. 😋☺️
For just 98php you can enjoy their tonkatsu and chicken karaage. Their ramen are good too for just 198.00php! Normally, we spend 1000php for our food, but here we just spent 550 pesos and we are already full! 👍🏻😋.
I highly recommend this resto and will definitely come back to try other food on their menu. ☺️
The miso ramen is much salty unlike before, we didn't get to finish it. But oyako don taste so good the taste is just right. We'll be definitely coming back for the oyako don and try some other ramen.
Ambiance is awesome. You could read few of anime illustrator books. I didn't enjoy the ramen (maybe because my standard of taste is the Tokyo tokyo ramen). But the karage is a bomb!. I'll come back for the karage 😍😍😍
Attention College Students on a budget:
If you crave for Japanese food but don't want to go broke, try this place out.
Budget friendly.
Hot food.
Good serving sizes.
Friendly staff.
Cold restaurant.
Cozy ambience.
Clean restroom.
... not so convenient parking. Hey, you can't have it all.
I've been here twice. They have affordable lunch menus from 11am to 2pm. My friend and I ordered the sides combo worth 128 pesos. The karaage was hot and juicy, while the chahan rice was well-seasoned and had a few slices of meat. I'm happy with my meal because I was served big chicken chunks, while my friend had relatively shrunken ones. The miso soup was warm, and had a few strips of seaweed.
Next we tried the donburi lunch set. I ordered the katsu don, that comes along with a side and soup.
Same quality as our previous visit. The rice was warm, and easily picked up with chopsticks. The katsu was juicy.
GO TRY THIS PLACE. :)
Place was full on a Sunday evening. Got the last counter-like seats that were available.
Place is well-lit and it has that spacious feel, quite ironic that it almost didn't have seats to accommodate us. 😂
Order took over 15 minutes to serve since I was able to finish one Mobile Legends game.
Tried the Miso and Spicy Miso Ramen and the gyoza. Well, I would not recommend the spicy variant since you can hardly taste the Miso because of the spicy flavor they used. The Miso Ramen though was good. Gyoza was so-so.
Sometimes it's all about bang for the buck. This restaurant reminded me of,the budget Japanese restaurant, Kimono Ken but even a step further.
We ordered the:
1️⃣ Sukiyaki Don: Based on the picture the egg yolk has already been mixed in with the meat and rice. This dish reminded me of the Gyudon. The only difference was that it used sukiyaki meat cuts. It tasted great! Strong in flavor. No mushrooms. Big serving with soft rice (I do not think it was Japanese rice)
2️⃣ Oyako Don: If your basis were to be the well known Japanese restaurants at 100% Oyako Don flavor, the Oyako Don in Happin Ramen House would probably be at around 85 to 90% flavor. Big serving! Somewhat subdued flavor compared to the usual Oyako Don but take that as a super negative comment because I still enjoyed it 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾rice was just like the Sukiyaki Don.
3️⃣ Karaage: My first Karaage 😂 So I don't know what would make a great Karaage. But this meal was good, juicy, and flavorful. I only hated the Japanese mayo that went with it because it was kind of sour.
4️⃣ Gyoza: Decent gyoza with a rubbery chewy wrap.
5️⃣ Miso Soup: Good miso soup with the usual green leaf minus the tofu.
OKAY HERES WHAT MAKES IT THE BEST PLACE EVER. Happon Ramen House has this afternoon promo where you can get a Rice Bowl + Karaage OR Gyoza + Miso Soup for only 199 pesos. You can spend the same amount of money in a fast food and get like a large burger meal or something and still wouldn't have the class in taste and amount of food you could get in Happon Ramen House. All fastfood should get replaced with Happon Ramen House. That would be awesome.
Lastly. The interior of Happon Ramen House had the minimalist white wall and wooden interior with interior design lighting. Making this such a relaxing restaurant. Plus cold aircon.
Good stuff this place 👍🏽 Second time as of this review eating here and I shall be coming back again to try the ramen.
Ordered their spicy miso ramen and gyoza. The price is reasonable and the taste is also good. The ambiance is nice. Will definitely come back to try their other menu.
If you're looking for good food on a budget, this is the place to go.
I went here with my family and I had the Chicken Paitan ramen. It was absolutely delicious, one of the best I've had. Their soup base is really flavorful as well as the chicken in it. The noodle were cooked to perfection. Not to mention the prices of this place, it's really cheap. I was a little sad though that they only had a few food choices on the menu but the flavor and quality definitely makes up for it.
Can't wait to come back for more! 😁
Tasty and affordable. My first ramen ever and I loved it 😁 The food preparation was also fast. Fast enough that my friend still got to go to class on time yehey hahaha ❤
HITS:
Affordable Ramen
Great ambiance
Good service
MISS:
Ang tamis ng sukiyaki. Pasok syang dessert.
Hassle ng parking (just like every dining establishment at Maginhawa)
🍲 Best affordable ramen fix!
👍Ambiance and interiors
😄Really good soup base (Warning: if you don't like menma - bamboo shoots 'cause of the smell: request them to take it out. I believe all of their ramens automatically have menma?)
😁Those al-dente like noodles - lovely to chew for days
🙂Karaage juices are the best
😑 Overcooked edamame (but on second thought, can you complain when it's just 49 pesos?)
😊 Good service
The Ramen was comparable to traditional big names when it comes to Japanese dining. The generous pork cuts in their spicy miso ramen was melt in your mouth. Their chicken paitan was likewise commendable. In general their ramen was flavorful yet NOT oily! High five foe a ramen priced at 198 pesos :-)
The vibe of the place is nice and light. Their bowls of ramen are quite a steal for P198. I tried the chicken papaitan and found it to be a bit bland. I like my ramen broth thick and creamy so this kind wasn't my favorite. I do know of people who prefer it light so it wasn't bad. We also ordered the sukiyaki, which I really liked! Will come back to try the miso ramen next time.
The price should never compromise the taste of the food, good food should always be the goal of any restaurant. I ordered spicy curry ramen... and it's okay. The karaage is a bit sour, an indication of over-marinate. And the beef sukiyakidon is a bit too sweet, we can't even finish the bowl.
The quality of ramen is pretty good considering the cheap price. A bowl only costs 198php. The serving is big too. They have limited choices tho. I had spicy curry and it was okay. I can taste the curry. The taste of the curry is not that strong. I find it a bit watery too. Order their gyoza and karaage! Good for sharing and it's only 98php! The karaage tastes like the expensive karaage that you buy in high end japanese restaurants. Overall, it's satisfying. 🍜
For the price, the food tasted good (better than I was expecting), and was served fast. If you're looking for some quick ramen fix, you should try getting it here. :D
Reasonably priced for the size of their serving. Taste was ok (we ordered Miso, Spicy Miso and Curry Ramen). We also ordered Gyoza, Karaage and Embabe and all were ok. Attentive staff and nice interior.
