Warm and efficient staff! Excellent coffee selection. A must try 👍🙌🤓
Warm service, unique approach to espressos, fair variety of food choices, intimate space.
Quaint place. Try the cocospresso for something different :)
CHEESE TOAST WITH A KICK
LONG BLACK COFFEE
TOMATO BASED PASTA WITH FENNEL
KEEP CALM CHOCOLATE
Jiro is hidden in a commercial building in South Triangle. I've been putting off visiting here for a while as the building's in that kind of place you'd have no business going to. But a spur of boredom and curiosity has led me to go up the stairs and try it out. I've only had the Rocket Americano and it's one of the best roasts I've ever had. The space is reminiscent of a 2012 third wave cafe—minimalist, wooden furniture; planked walls accented with tiles and bare concrete. The ambience is casual and laid-back (not to mention the music is awesome). This will definitely become my neighborhood cafe.
I usually spend my sunday morning cafe hopping. This time, I decided to visit two coffee shops. I headed first to Jiro Coffee Studio.
PLACE- 4 OUT OF 5 STARS
The store opens at 10 am, I arrived there at exactly 10 am. I had a hard time finding the place, I asked the help of the guard. The place was a bit small but well ventilated.
SERVICE - 5 out of 5 STARS
The one who got and served my order is well articulated, she speaks in english better than me. 😂😂 She was kind enough to offer If I want to transfer to their bigger room located in the same building.
FOOD - 3 out of 5 stars
Frog in a hole
Keep calm and Chocolate
Sweet potato fries
I ordered Keep calm and Chocolate, it was rich but a bit bitter for my taste. I asked for sugar but they gave me a heads up na it is bitter when I'm ordering it at the counter. Frog in a hole was filling, I really liked it. It was perfectly seasoned and the egg was cooked perfectly. Lastly, the sweet potato fries, it was served last and it is my least favorite. I was expecting it to be good since I've read a couple of reviews recommending it. The sweet potato fries was drench in oil when they served it.
INSTAGRAMMABLE - 4 out of 5 stars
The place is instagrammable and the baristas are instgrammer friendly. They let me take photos of the place and as mentioned above they fetched the idea of me visiting thier bigger room because it is more instagrammable.
SERVING TIME - 3 out of 5 stars
I think I waited longer for the food to be served but I didn't notice since I'm busy photographing the interior of the coffee shop. I already finished my frogs in a hole and my drink when they served the fries.
My first visit was awesome! Excellent staff and delicious food! Will definitely come back 💘
I had:
Eggs + Cheese: Surprisingly good and best paired with their sourdough bread
Not so flat white: strong with just the right amount of sweetness, just the perfect combination for me.
Not your usual coffee place! I love their take on coconut and espresso fusion. They make it more authentic by serving it fresh inside the coconut. The frog in a hole is very filling. Wish they can open earlier and close much later.
love their coffee - their coffee concoctions are so creative and fresh! Cocospresso and their Malagos drinks plus the Gabi ice cream affogato and their well-loved bulletproof coffee ❤️ You may also grab yummy bites from sausages, home-made chips, salad and eggs! Thank you, Jiro Coffee Studio 😊
It was our first time to try here while waiting for an event to start in the building. You won’t notice them at first because of the minimalist facade of the cafe. It was actually nice when we went in with their wooden interiors and artsy vibe. This is a nice place to sip coffee, relax, and maybe have some snacks while listening to music from their vinyl player. I would have actually gave it a higher score but I didn’t like their coffee that much, or at least the one I tried.
I ordered their Malagos Chocolate Mocha, which I think is just new to their menu, and their sweet potato fries. Malagos chocolate is popular with its good quality, so maybe I was expecting more from the drink. However, the drink had a bitter and sour after taste, which is the taste of pure chocolate. I guess the flavors just didn’t marry well in my tastebuds. I had to ask for more milk and coco sugar to somehow improve the taste. The sweet potato fries are a different story. IT WAS GOOD! When they serve it to you, you can smell the fresh butter they used on it, mixed with the smell of freshly ground pepper.
I would still want to try more of their food and drinks next time. Although I wasn’t happy with the mocha I had, not to mention it’s a little pricey for its size, I would still want to try the other stuff in their menu just because of the mere fact that they’ve got nice interiors and a healthier menu.
I've read a lot of good reviews on their Cocospresso so I couldn't let it pass when I visited. It's definitely worth a try and indeed refreshing! It had a mild sweetness to it (I'm guessing from the coconut water) and you'd be surprised at how well espresso and coconut water works perfectly! You still get that strong coffee taste but in a more refreshing way.
The Savory Grilled Cheese was a let down for me as I was expecting something else. It was too pricey for its small serving size. The onion jam was great as it resembled caramelized onions but I didn't get how it is savory when all I could taste was sweet. I was also wondering where the cheese was. The crust of the bread was a bit hard but the inner part was crusty and soft.
Still looking forward to another cup of coffee and maybe pair it with their eggs.
P.S. Do they have that onion jam in a jar? I would love to take some home!
Cozy, relaxing and with a great ambiance, the meals are healthy and delightful to the palate. Will return to try their coffee entrees. Oh, did I mention that the lighting of the place is simply awesome!
This is definitely a coffee shop that I fell in love with. The interior was lovely. Japanese Minimalist and Artsy at the same time. I love how this coffee shop play with lights and shadow. So lovely.
For the coffee I got their version of FlatWhite named Not So Flat White. They gave it a cinnamon kick to it. It was good. The cinnamon gave it a nice hint of smell. Jayson J got the Cocospresso which was unique blend of coconut water and espresso. Got a sip of it and it was refreshing good for a coffee.
Overall I love this place and for sure I'll bring my other southie friends here.
*Just need to operational hour of the place. They close early around 7pm
Is it possible to give a rating more than 5 stars? If so, can someone please give this place a bazillion stars? 😅
Jiro Coffee Studio is a hidden gem along Mo. Ignacia street in Quezon City. I absolutely fell in love with this coffee shop. It's safe to say that this is my new coffee date place. ❤️ The place is small with ample seating, they have good lighting and I love the minimalist interior. Simple and elegant.
We got the following:
☕️ Cocospresso
This is espresso with coconut water served chilled in a shell. Now this drink is unique. I've never had anything like it before and it's really refreshing. I loved it and I WILL go back just to have this again. 😅
☕️ Indo-Americano (cold)
Long black infused with cinnamon and cloves + S. Pellegrino sparkling water. Another unique drink! I also enjoyed this though it's a bit strong. I think it's akin to a coffee soda. This was recommended by the owner (she was very nice btw.) when we couldn't decide what to get for the boyfie.
☕️ Frog in a Hole
2 pieces of gluten free bread with organic eggs and topped with aged cheese. This one is THE bomb! I absolutely loved it! The best sandwhich I've had in a while.
I also wanted to mention that they have a whole range of eggs-related items on the menu. It was so hard to choose. Come to think of it, even their logo is a cracked egg. 😅
Jiro's selection of drinks are charmingly unique and you couldn't find it elsewhere. They are a refreshing addition to Manila's booming coffee scene. I'd recommend them if you want a peaceful and quiet afternoon. It's an ideal place to relax by yourself or with a special someone. The owner was very friendly and even makes conversations with the customers, she also personally prepares your coffee along with another staff.
Cocospresso wait for me! I'd definitely be back. Be sure of it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A new coffee shop around the Quezon City opened last November 2016. I would recommend this place if you want peace and quiet for the time being. This place is located on the second floor of crossroad center, right beside St. Theresa College and it is along Mother Ignacia. I would advice for you to go here at Sunday because they offer free parking across the street. They are opened 12-8pm from Monday to Friday, 10-3pm on a Sunday and they are closed on a Saturday.
Upon entering the shop you would see tables outside where you can seat but it too hot during my visit so I opted to have my coffee inside the shop. The shop is very comforting, easy in the eyes, with very simple design. The staff were also very friendy and would explain their unique drinks that we as consumers could not find elsewhere.
Not-so-flat white - 160php - this drink is quite unique since it mixes cinnamon, vanilla and a shot of their espresso. The hunch of cinnamon was there but not too strong that it over took the flavor of the coffee. The coffee was also bitter which I like since there was no added syrup or sugar in it.
They also serve food but I was not able to order one since I just ate prior to coming to this cafe. There were no cakes available though. A good place to hangout with your special someone if you want to talk in private.
The only downfall is the time that it opens and closes. I hope that they change it in the coming months.
On our way home from our convention, my friend and I decided to stop by somewhere to blow off some steam after the flurry of activities that we were part of. I suggested Jiro Coffee Studio to get away from the crowd of more mainstream coffeeshops... I found that it was a pretty good decision...
Tucked away on the second floor of a residential building, Jiro has been operational since last year... The group, who manages the place, were only catering to their friends. They reinvented the space and is now open to serving the public...
What struck me immediately is the lighting-- I felt that it made the place very dramatic with its play on shadows... Second thing I noticed was how cozy the place was-- I like the chill and easygoing vibe. The staff were very friendly. Plus they have access to a vlean bathroom down the hall... Downside was that they don't have wifi and the signal wasn't that good in the space...
My friend and I both tried the Not-So-Flat-White, which was pretty nice but came in a small serving. I liked that it was shaken in ice so the flavor wasn't diluted... We each had their grilled cheese sandwich-- my friend got it plain, while I had it with onion jam... The sandwiches were served with chips and they were okay... I think mine needed more onion jam for that much needed sweetness. The manager passed by to ask us about the food and I said as much... She took my comment graciously with a smile-- how customer feedback should be taken IMO...
We had a very pleasant time at the coffee shop; a nice third wave coffee place to check out...
