Fantastic steakhouse in QC! We loved our Wagyu Cross (WX) Striploin! We shared a 300gm steak among two. It arrived done medium and sliced just right. Tender and with the right amount of fat. Served with creamy mashed potato, salt and 3 kinds of steak sauces including chimichuri and BBQ.

Roasted Chicken (Half) with fries was good too. Chicken marinated with honey, soy and chili sauce.

Good ambiance and attentive service

Did you know that aside from offering a delightful a la carte menu, you can also book in-house and outside catering packages from NANKA Japanese Steakhouse?. That’s right, if you’re looking for a venue for your next special celebration, you  can look into booking the space at NANKA alongside a buffet package for your guests to enjoy. The space holds a couple hundred guests. They even have a stage area for your program. Here’s a look at  some of the dishes we sampled:

Went here for an early dinner.
My partner and I ordered.
😄Crispy eggplant
😄Shrimp roll
😀Steak fried rice
😊Shiitake pasta

Their crispy eggplant was the best, the bitter aftertaste that eggplants usually have, wasn't there at all, and the kani on top made it perfect!
Their shrimp roll was nice, the mango went well with the breaded shrimp inside, it made the roll fresh and it cuts through the richness of the fried shrimp.
Their steak fried rice was a complete meal itself, nice flavor.
The only thing that was off, was the shiitake pasta. When I was half way through my bowl, the oil was too much too handle, the remaining pasta were already swimming in it.

This is the place to go if you can't decide between Latin and Japanese. 😊

Certified carnivore needs his options. On some occasions, a Japanese Steakhouse visit is necessary. Nanka is located in Mother Ignacia in Quezon City, a spacious restaurant for events, and now they also offer outside catering.

On this media visit, we had the best of both worlds- our group had an example of a buffet set-up and then indulged in premium steak cuts for ‘dessert.’

The eat all you can affair was lead by Shitake Pasta, Baked Salmon, Tepanyaki Shrimp, Grilled Chicken, and a colorful display of Sushi & Sashimi. The salmon pieces got the most attention, and for a good reason.

On Japanese steaks, the main deal was the marbled, Wagyu followed by the tender, well-seasoned, Black Onyx Bone-in Ribeye. Nanka also wowed us with a stunning display of the Australian Black Onyx Tomahawk, which can satisfy up to 5 people. There are also other steaks like the US Tenderloin, WX Striploin, Black Onyx Tbone, and the Wagyu Beef.

I liked Nanka’s innovation on handing out their prized meats. Every order comes wit a variety of sauces and spices to provide a variation of taste in every bite.

Lucky to have been able to sample Nanka’s dishes specifically for their in-house and outside catering and events services and then a huge bonius was getting to try their a la carte steaks as well.

The steaks were soooooo good. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The meat was juicy and tender and not rare which is how I like my steak. Still pink but not bloody with the outside seared and browned but not burnt. The meat was tasty and although there was an array of side sauces provided and while they were delicious too especially the chimichurri, it actually didn’t need any additional flavor because the steak was, again, perfectly seasoned already.. We had the WX Striploin, Black Onyx Bone-in Ribeye and the Tomahawk. My favorite, although it hard to pick just 1 because all 3 were equally amazing, was the fatty bone-in ribeye.

The following dishes were served as part of the buffet (they have event buffet packages starting from ₱825, you may call them for additional details/ inquiries):
Mushroom and Tofu Soup
White Rice
Shitake Pasta
Baked Salmon
Teppanyaki Shrimp
Pork Belly with Spicy Miso
Roasted Chicken
Salmon Sashimi
Assorted Makis
Kani Salad
Assrd Desserts such as eclairs, cream puffs, cupcakes, brownies, etc.
Iced Tea

As a whole, the buffet was very enjoyable. There were some dishes that were just average for me, still good nonetheless, but my favorites or the dishes that stood out for me were: the fresh and delicious salmon sashimi, the perfectly cooked baked salmon with creamy buttery sauce, roasted chicken and the shitake pasta.

The place is spacious and perfect for any occasion whether a date, casual get together with friends, family gathering and even for parties. We were told that sometimes they even hold in-house events with guest performers. Or you can book them directly for catering (in house or outside). There are also parking slots, though limited, right infront of the restaurant.

It was worth the trip to Quezon City!

While there are many new concepts popping up all over Metro Manila with fusion cuisines, and Haute dining concepts. Sometimes, the best meals are still simple and the most basic of all. The new Nanka Japanese Steakhouse is one of those concepts that are simple and yet so satisfying. The restaurant itself is spacious, welcoming, and warm.

Taking about comfort and quality food, at Nanka Japanese Steakhouse they definitely have it. One of the key factors that fascinates me is that they ensure that they serves fresh ingredients, from their steaks, seafoods, any ala carte meals up to desserts. For their seafoods, it is delivered freshly twice a week from General Santos and
they serve authentic Black Onyx Tomahawk and T-Bone Steak. Nanka ensures to emphasize the taste of the meat. Definitely one of the best steaks I've tasted so far. For dessert lovers like me,but doesn't want that too much sugar, and matcha lovers, yass they also have it. Their plating skill is so IG worthy. Thanks also to Chef Michael Santos, for the world class and delectable dishes that was served. It's a highly recommended restaurant with very talented chefs. Their ambiance will also gives a romantic and nice place to chill out. I'll definitely go back here.

BLACK ONYX TOMAHAWK 🥩

You will LOVE 😍 Nanka's 2-inch thick Tomahawk Steak, an ideal sharing steak for a special occasion or romantic meal, as it can easily feed two people. 🐄 This Australian Black Onyx means it is 100% PURE ANGUS : hearty rich flavour, exquisitely fine marbling (a marble score of 3+) for that tender juiciness.

It really is one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten 😋. @nanka_ph @welovetoeatph #WLTEplus #tomahawkSteak #BlackOnyx #BlackAngus

This place surprised me. At first I got scared because of the Japanese-Latin mix of cuisine, but when I got inside the restaurant, the place was nice. The ambience was great and I immediately felt comfortable with the place.

I ordered the steak fried rice for 395 pesos, they said it was good for two to three people but to be honest it was just enough for me. Don't get me wrong, the quantity should be enough for two or three small people, but im quite a large man. The taste was great and the quality was not too bad either.

We also had the chicken skin bar chow. It was OK. Nothing to write home about.

I was also able to try the Chicken pasta and it's also something i can recommend for people to try. The pasta was cooked right and the taste was great.

Will seriously consider going back.

Nanka has a live band most nights, which makes for great entertainment whilst partaking of their food

Food-wise: certainly interesting given the American Latin fusion. However, portion size for certain dishes can be pretty small. What we got:
- Pumpkin soup: very thick and creamy, sometimes didn't feel much like soup because it wasn't liquid-y? Still yummy though!
- Shrimp roll: I liked this, and felt it was filled to the brim with shrimp, Kani, mango, cucumber. I do wish there was more flavor to it though, as it can be a bit bland
- Miso cod: Super liit ng cod :(
- Beef kushiyaki: the beef was amazingly tender and yum BUT again, super few cubes only :(
- Shiitake pasta: I like this! Will definitely order again

Overall assessment: Food and ambiance are great, just wish they'd increase serving size

Discovered this place out of friends' recommendation. And I was right all this time -- Nanka is where the Moomba Bar was before. I used to hangout at Moomba Bar because there are live bands and usually, every after Rotary meetings, we would hang out there for some booze.

Now, it is a very artsy restaurant with old cameras and even an old vinyl player at the entrance that offers food that is Japanese inspired or has a Japanese fusion.

Ambiance - 5.0/5.0
I easily fall in love with restaurants with a lot of windows, great interiors and has a lot of vintage displays. Also, the restaurant is very clean.

Service - 5.0/5.0
The service is very commendable. They had a reservation so they were already preparing the place but still, they were kind enough to accommodate us and take our orders.

Food - 5.0/5.0
Crispy Eggplant - the moment I ate it, I was really shocked because it does not have the sticky eggplant taste. The toppings (Crab Salad, I guess) really complements the Crispy Eggplant.
Shitake Pasta - this Pasta was pretty generous with toppings and sauce but at least the creaminess of the sauce and the mushroom balances each other.
Beef Kushiyaki - this is like their Beef BBQ and to be honest, I love how beefy and spicy it is at the same time. The meat is tender and not ma-sebo at all.
Miso Custard - at first, it looks like Smores but it is not. This desert was really a standout 'coz its not so sweet and at the same time, has a very heavenly taste.

Worth visiting over and over and over again.

Just recently, some blogger friends and I were invited by Nanka to try out their bestsellers. I admit, it wasn't my first time dining at the restaurant. I've visited it once with my family and another time with Tim - both times of which I really enjoyed.

So when their invite came around, I didn't hesitate to say yes. Nanka, for those who don't know, is derived from a Japanese word that means "something new." They're located at 1810 Mother Ignacia Corner Roces Avenue, Paligsahan, Quezon City - where Moomba Cafe Grill used to be. So yes, if you thought the place looked familiar, it's because it used to be Moomba.

Salmon Inari (🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟) - this was huge. I had 4 bites before I finished a piece. Salmon is fresh, flavor is delicious. It's a really filling appetizer.

Shitake pasta (🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟) - this reminds me of yc's charlie chan but I like this better because it's a simpler, no frills dish - yet the flavor is unkmistakenly there. I like that they were generous with the mushroom toppings! The serving is good for 3 people.

Steak fried rice (🌟🌟🌟) - the steak was a little tough (wish they sliced the steak to smaller pieces), and the rice lacked the "steak flavor" that usually comes from the steak drippings. But the serving is huge. Hope they improve this dish!

Nonetheless im giving nanka 5🌟 because I enjoyed our over all experience. The place is pretty, spacious and clean. The staff are very accommodating. And I would love to return to try the other dishes 💕

We may not know or like to admit it but Japanese culture and cuisine have reached and influenced almost all the areas of our world. I am a hundred percent sure that wherever you travel in the globe, you would find a Japanese restaurant or even a store offering sushi. One of the other cuisines that has been influenced by the Japanese fare is the Latin-American food style or method of cooking.

Hidden somewhere along Mother Ignacia Avenue in Quezon City is this Japanese-Latin restaurant that serves up some unique delights. I never would have thought that a fusion of Japanese and Latin flavors could blend so well together, but I guess anything’s possible nowadays. This very comfy and spacious spot greets diners with soothing acoustic tunes that make this a perfect lunch or dinner getaway; they also have live music in the evenings, which adds to an already pleasant dining experience. The service was okay, as there was a slight misunderstanding with regards to the Eatigo discount, but this was sorted out quickly. This restaurant can be found on Eatigo, where you can score deals of up to 50% off, but rest assured that your meal will be worth it, even with out the discount. Here are the dishes we ordered:

Roasted Kobocha Soup
-sweet and very flavorful
-quinoa gives the soup an interesting aftertaste
-the vegetables in the soup are charred, a nice touch

5/5

Shrimp Roll
-the taste of the mayo is very present in this dish
-my mom’s favorite here
-they don’t skimp out on ingredients and every bite is full of shrimps and crabstick; the rice to shrimp/crabstick ratio is just right

4/5

Shitake Pasta
-very creamy, rich in flavor
-the sweet taste of mushroom coats the noodles nicely
-the mushroom bits give the dish another level of flavor

5/5

Pollo a la Brasa
-very flavorful as well
-flavor seeps in to the meat of the chicken
-chicken is tender; even the breast part
-looks like half a chicken so it is great value for the taste
-comes with Cilantro Mayo and french fries on the side

4.5/5

Steak Fried Rice
-there are a lot if ingredients in this dish
-the vegetables are either steamed or grilled, and there are some even in the rice
-the beef is cooked well-done; it’s not that tender, but the saltiness is there
-the semi-sweet flavor of the rice compliments the saltiness of the beef, and the slight blandness of the vegetables quite nicely

4/5

Chicken Kushiyaki
-meat isn’t as tender as the pollo
-has a bit of mild spice
-the teriyaki sauce combined with what looks like chili powder is an interesting combination

4/5

Value for money: 4/5
Taste of the food: 4/5
Ambience: 5/5
Service: 4/5

Nanka works well for a variety of situations—a classy date, catching up with friends, celebrating a birthday, or when you just need to want food to excite your senses. This can be your next big group extravaganza spot. Tastes and quality of food definitely didn't disappoint. Prices considering value are decent and won't light your wallet on fire, especially if you're sharing the bill with friends.

We started with Shrimp Inari (PhP 335) which basically is a plate of sunshine. It’s a very nice crowd-pleaser, a sweet bean bag-looking morsel with a pocket of sweet deep-fried marinated tofu, filled with sushi rice and topped with shrimp and ikura.

Another appetizer we tried was the Crispy Eggplant Salad (PhP 195), made with smokey roasted eggplant, Tozasu sauce, edamame, garlic chips, cilantro, and cherry tomatoes. Overall, it’s a great dish with interesting textures. The crispy eggplants soaked up the flavor of the spices like sponge. Vegetarians will love this salad served with a side of Japanese rice, while meatier folks might want to eat it with steak or pork chops for a hearty meal.

We also ordered Tofu (220), which looked simple at first glance, but do not let the look fool you. These pieces of tofu may look plain but they’re as moreish as they come. The sweet and savory crispy tofu delivered in spades in flavor, cooked with teriyaki sauce and aromatic spices such as grated ginger scallions and garlic chips.

Pollo a la Brasa (PhP 385) is one of the house specialties. Served with cilantro mayo and French fries, the charred Peruvian roast chicken was fragrant and well-marinated. It had slightly crispy, golden skin on the outside, while leaving the meat delicately tender and juicy. It deserves a two-thumbs-up rating, the type of food that you put in your mouth, and the clouds open up before your eyes and you see god.

Tossed with lots of shiitake, shimejii, and king oyster mushrooms sauteed in garlic, butter and soy sauce, the Shiitake Pasta (PhP 295) gave us joy. I’m not usually a big fan of pasta but this one is an exception. It was love at first bite! It’s a filling pasta dish packed with earthy and delicate flavors and a soul-satisfying warmth. The secret must all be in the mushrooms! :)

Want to try this resto gladly they have promos at eatigo. Nanka, mandarin sky, artsy and oedo has the same owner. We've tried all the restos already and its worth going back again and again. Well this is our 1st time at nanka gladly we had book a 50% discount via eatigo. We ordered the steak fried rice, fried tofu, kani salad, corn soup, shrimp unaki and asian fruit salad. Well they have huge serving, the steak fried rice and fried tofu tasted great the rest tasted good but we didnt like the asian salad tasted so sweet and abit expinsive i think is cost 295pesos. All in we just paid 1000++ instead 2k++ well we'll go back again for the steak fried and to try their mushroom noodles. And other dishes. Service is good. Place is clean and big but need some more interior. Prices is reasonable if without eatigo they had big serving. But dessert abit pricey. Will try their other dessert with eatigo again...

Ordered Salmon Inari, Chicken Kushiyaki, Steak Fried Rice, Tofu and Miso Cod. Recommend almost all except for (1) chicken Kushikatsu, too salty. (2) Tofu could have been better should they use Japanese Tofu which is smoother and finer in texture, I find the spicy sauce also not in harmony with terikayaki sauce and (3) Miso Cod, nothing really special about the cooking, small in size and the fish does not seem to be fresh. It’s not that these exceptions were terrible, but I see that they can still improve on these dishes. All else were good, especially considering its serving size. Their rice quality is also good, its real authentic Japanese rice. Would go back try others dishes in their menu. Interior and service is also excellent!

I love the Tofu, it’s very tasty and crunchy and the teriyaki sauce is perfect for the tofu. The Steak Fried Rice has a great taste and it’s well done cooked. The Steak Fried Rice is a best seller, and I agree with it. Also the Inari is a perfect appetizer. Mojito and Sangria are perfect partner for the dishes. Also all of the desserts are not too sweet and perfect specially the Choco Fudge Cake. I really enjoy all of the food that they offer. Good Job for the Nanka Japanese Latin Restaurant. .

My family & I went to Nanka during it’s soft opening on a weekend.
Ambiance 5/5
There were not a lot of people yet so it was a good place to have small gatherings, the music and ambiance were calming as well.
Service 3.5/5
Waiters are very attentive. Only wish they would suggest their best dishes before we ordered. Their menu had no pictures yet but was told that they would upgrade their menu soon. It was harder to order without pictures, but they handed us a group of pictures of their food so it was easier to decide.
Food 4.5/5
We ordered the following as suggested by the waiters:
-Pork Belly 4.5/5
This was my favorite out of everything we ordered. It had a very unique taste if you combine the pork with the miso sauce and the onions with jalapeño. Wasn’t perfect though because I think the serving size was too small for it’s price. I would still come back for this again though.
-Braised Beef 3.5/5
Beef was super soft and tender. Serving size is good for sharing. But lacks a little sweetness for my personal preference. Not sweet at all, not saying this is a bad thing, just a personal preference.
-Pollo a la Brasa 4/5
Chicken’s serving size was a little few but the fries made up for it. Flavor is good and the sauce is good too.
-Roasted Cauliflower 5/5
This had a very interesting taste. Never knew roasted cauliflower with jalapeños and cheese would taste great together. Would order this again.

The dish Lomo Saltado was suggested by the waiter at first but wasn’t able to be served because the chef decided the meat was not soft enough, so we ordered the braised beef instead. We were disappointed at first but applaud their chef to decide not to risk serving mediocre food.

Overall, they gave a good first impression of their restaurant. This is the first Japanese Latin restaurant I’ve ever tried and it was good. Wasn’t able to try the Japanese dishes, guess we’ll be back again next time to try them. :)
