Stan’s fried black pepper shrimp is to-die-for. It’s so crispy you can eat from head to tail, no need to de-shell. And I like the sweetness of the sauce - really compliment with the crispiness of the shrimp. Super sarap. We also ordered the crispy pata in fiesta size- the skin is so crispy. But I think their fiesta size is a bit smaller than the usual. We’ll definitely go back.

Great seafood!!

I thought I already knew what "baked scallops" taste like... until I tried it at choobi! The scallops were big and the cheesy garlic topping is the real deal. Ive tried so many "baked" oysters, mussels, and scallops out there but they all have very creamy, milky, fake cheese. So, I did not expect that choobi's scallops would be good. But Im so glad I tried it cause its exceptional!

The Stan black pepper shrimps - big, juicy, and smothered in that sweet umami flavor. Dahil matamis, medyo nakakaumay din lalo pag walang kanin. Dont get me wrong - it was so GOOD! - but it would have been exceptional if its spicier. I would say it could feed 3 hungry vusitors.

The most underwhelming dish would be the grilled tangigue. It lacked sauce and toastdd garlic. And medyo malansa sya compared to the usual. This is the only dish I wont recommend. Hope they improve on it!

Of course, rated this 5 because its my favorite resto and everytime we ate there the food and service didn’t disappoint us. Their Singaporean style with black pepper shrimp is for the win! 😋

Consistently good Filipino food. Nothing fancy, but reliable quality and service makes me a repeat customer. I thought the baked scallops and the fresh oysters stood out.

If you want to fill your cravings and tummy with fresh seafood, this is your place to go. Very unique dishes. If there's a thing I'd like to improve in is the menu, Choobi should add more dishes to choose. Btw, everything is excellent.

A very nice place to satisfy your seafood cravings. The variety of the menu is quite surprising and the quality of the seafoods seems to be better than what you can get in your local market. One of restaurants that I really frequent because of the triple-threat quality-price-flavor.

This has become our family’s go-to place whenever we crave for shrimps or seafood. Less expensive than the other restaurants but tastes the same and probably even better! Our usual order - their choobang and butter garlic flavor. Not a fan of their calamari, but the baked scallops are the best too!

Tried it in SM Lanang in Davao. We ordered Chopsuey, Lechon Kawali and the famous Salted Egg shrimp in a bag. I like the flavorful taste of salted egg in their shrimp. Pwedeng pang sabaw sa kanin. And it's legit salted egg there's a bits of salted egg. Not the usual salted egg that they are just using a powder mix. It is also good for 3 persons. And you will literally licked your fingers because it's so malasa. Other food are good too. Very sulit and delicious.

Staff are kind and will give details if you asked something on their menu. The place is very spacious.

Choobi Choobi is a Cebuano Restaurant. I was really happy when I learned that they already have branches here in the Metro. So here’s what we ordered:

1. Saltes Egg Shrimp in a bag - This is a must! It is well coated with chunks of salted egg and I’m not sure if they cooked it in butter but nonetheless it made my tummy so happy. It is served generously too. I literally had to lick my fingers after taking pieces of it. It was that good.

2. Grilled Pampano - I forgot to take a photo of it. Anyway, it is well done and the best thing? It was fresh! I think they just put salt into it, but it was really good. It felt like they had just caught the fish and grilled it.

3. Choobi Pata - the sinful crispy pata. 😂 It was good too. Perfectly crisp on the outside, it wasn’t oily too. It was so juicy you’ll even forget you need to watch your cholesterol intake. 😝

4. Bulalo - Definitely a taste of Cebu. Not too salty, but it’ll keep you coming back for more.

Ambience and Service : There weren’t many people when we dined, it was spacious enough and the servers were kind to walk us through the menu and even advised us of their best sellers.

Value for money : It was a little bit pricey, but I guarantee that the price is worth it for the taste. If you are a Cebuano/ Cebuana, this restaurant makes you feel at home because of their dishes.

Had dinner here last night (Valentines) with family. The food were so-so. I don’t know if its was just my tastebuds but for me the seafood bag (good for 5-6 pax) was a so-so. I like the chorizo in eat by the way. The crispy pata was good — the meat was so tender and the Halaan Soup was good too! I just hate how we waited for so long to be seated. We were told that we will be waiting for 15-20 mins but I think it took us more than 20 mins and for the orders took so long to arrive. I understand that it was so hectic yesterday given that it was Valentines so I hope that doesn’t happen during ordinary days.

WE ORDERED: 1 pound Choobi Bay Shrimp Boil, Belly Dancer, Sisig, Chicharon Bulaklak

(+) Food was okay for me. The Choobi Bay Shrimp Boil was good, but I wish it were more flavorful. Their sisig was okay, too. Their best dish, for me, would be the Belly Dancer.
(+) Place was clean and spacious.
(+) Staff were attentive and accommodating.
(-) Been here twice already and in both instances, crab was unavailable.
(-) Waiting time was too long. It took about 30 minutes to serve all of our food.

What you should order:  grillled stuffed squid, black pepper shrimp (or any of their shrimp dishes actually), stir-fried tao miao, steamed pampano
Don't order the native chicken (too skinny!), the sinigang sa baboy (home cooked is always better), or the giant bamboo clams (overcooked, too tough).
Servers are very friendly and accommodating.  Place is clean and bright.  Best value for shrimp dishes.

You come here for the shrimp of course, and I would say Choobi Choobi offers the best value for money shrimp by the bag right now. It's not as good value as it was before, since they recently raised prices, but it's still better than the alternatives. I wouldn't order anything else but their Choobi Bay, which is far and away their best sauce. Their other items such as the squid is really good too, both the one in gata and the one grilled.

Comfy ambience, attentive servers, fast service (less than 15mins) -thumbs up for this
For a Php 235 sinigang na hipon loaded with shrimps (i thinks its 12pcs) is affordable enough. We also ordered lechon kawali - meat is fresh (believe me, we have a poultry stall 😊) but i wish they have mang tomas :p
Serving is big and we have to take home the sinigang na hipon, the server offered to put more sinigang soup :p
But why i rate it 3.5? our change took 20mins :(

Loved the following:
Halfpound shrimps whole choobang flavor- Make sure to order it at "medium well".
Pork belly dancer (pork liempo)- Enjoy it with their vinegar.

Liked:
Mean & Green Pinakbet - less saltiness would be great.

Sayang wala:
Cha Tao Miao (Snow Peas sprout)

I was so famished while waiting for my daughter. We are headed to this place where I did a Food review last year.

Ambience

The glass walls has food posters of what awaits for you inside. I seek this place for its fresh seafood. The guard was ever attentive since he was opening the door even if we have just dropped off from a cab ride. The place was festive and still held traces of Christmas celebration. It was quiet when we went there maybe because it was way past lunch time. Only a few diners were in.

We were seated at a table near the windows. I wish to seat somewhere else but, the waiter informed us that that was for a bigger group. I was a bit disappointed because I love the cushions better than the steel chairs were we were ushered in.

Food

I ordered for warm water and was served a glass of it. Being mindful of my tummy I was looking at the kitchen area if they are about to send us our food. From last year's experience this is not like fast food that you got your food served in a few minutes. You need to be patient in waiting for it. I was looking forward to see the expression on my daughter's face as she taste what I have ordered. She loves shrimps so I ordered for Half Pound Shrimps in  Bag P 225. You can order for the Salted Egg version if you order for 1 Pound. I also ordered for Pork Barbecue P30. I was contemplating on ordering for Garlic or Fried Rice in a platter but vetoed the idea since might trigger my high blood pressure. I grudgingly throw out the head although I sip some because it was so delicious. We ordered for Shrimps cooked in Garlic Butter and that is what we got. It was so tasty that my daughter pour some of the batter on her rice. If only I can do that. It was a wonderful experience judging by her reaction as she slowly eat up most of the shrimps in the bag. She was disinterested in the Pork Barbecue after all Shrimps are her favorite.

Service

Except for serving me with hot water on which I nearly burn my tongue it was a lovely meal nicely served by the attentive waiters. I was looking for the Manager Miss Elaine but, she was not around. All the staff was friendly even Manong guard.

Overall this was an experience that I enjoyed with my daughter for our Food Trip before 2017. She was already thinking of what we will order next time that we come back.

Updates January 2017:

We went back this time it was my best friend's treat. She said this was a day to celebrate 2016 even if its 2017. Because of our hectic schedules we could not find time to go out for lunch or dinner. This time we ordered for Mango Basil Smoothies P130. The basil made the mango tasted better. The Seafood Barkada Bag P645 has all of the good Choobi Choobi stuff which includes: Shrimps, Squid, Chorizo, Chilean Mussels and Sweet Corn. My sweet corn is spoiled I decided not to eat it further. I drink warm water to avoid having my blood pressure shoot up because of the oil. We also ordered for Crispy Pata known as Choobi Pata P465 (Large size). The smaller Choobi Pata was not available. Anyways, I choose the meaty part because even if the skin tasted crunchy and good I was afraid of its effect on me.

If you happen to be stuck in a traffic gridlock on a rainy Friday night, a quick detour to Choobi Choobi will come as a relief. I ordered several dishes to try. The crispness of Stan's black pepper shrimp was enjoyable to the point that you could eat everything from head to tail. I was curious on on the vegetable dish Chao Tao Miao which was snow pea sprouts stir fried with garlic. Having paired this with the shrimp was a good balance. The grilled pampano was fresh and juicy. The Choobi Pata looked tempting, but I opted for the pork BBQ which was a good alternative. The Patrick's star baked scallops, atay baticolon sa manok, belly dancer (grilled pork belly) were delicious as well. The pineapple organic kale was a refreshing cool healthy drink. It was really a pleasant experience to dine here.

Instant lunch satisfaction! The black pepper shrimp was very good. It might be a bit too sweet for other people's taste, but better than an overwhelming taste of black pepper. For my personal taste, it was just right when paired with rice. The pinakbet was also a nice side dish for us. I rarely like pinakbet cause the veg is soggy but choobi's was not. It was not like a lump on your plate and you can taste individual veg even if everything was already mixed. We'll be back to try their other dishes. Fosho!

Cebuano cuisine has always had remarkable and unique flavors that a Manileno like me has learned to love. Fortunately for me, I was once again invited to taste Cebauano food through an event.

Choobi Choobi has been operating for some time now in Cebu. Just last year, they set up shop in Panay Avenue, Quezon City. According to the manager, the branch is their first in Manila. The branch lives up the high quality of food delivered by their Cebu branch. They deliver the seafood and other ingredients straight from the Cebu as soon as these are harvested. They also conform to the standards set by their Cebu branches.

The new branch never disappointed me. Even if I'm not big on seafood, the place made me rethink my apprehension against eating shrimps, mussels, and squid. The dishes were in huge sizes, fresh from the sea, and cooked well. First I had a bite of the Stuffed Grilled Squid (250 pesos). This dish grilled to perfection and topped with a special sauce and sesame seeds. The serving was very reasonable for its price. Also, the taste was remarkable. The squid didn't taste like it was stored in the freezer for too long.

We then sampled their premier vegetable dish, the Cha Tao Miao. At 180 pesos, this dish is composed of stir-fried pea sprouts in light oil. I loved the dish for its easy to eat feature as well as the light taste. Also, the dish was the only vegetable viand offered to us.

The Choobi Pata was the highlight of the day. At 465 pesos (large) this dish was the restaurant's premier viand. The delectable hunk of fried pork loin made my day as I was a meat eater. The pata was deep fried with an appetizing golden brown skin. Upon tasting, I enjoyed the crispy goodness of the dish together with the tender juicy meat. Surely I'd love to order this when I get back here.

The prime seafood dishes followed. I had a taste of Stan's black pepper shrimp which was a fried delicacy composed of huge prawns, sauteed with corn, black pepper, and a special sauce for that juicy flavor. The Php 440 price tag for this meal wasn't bad either.

The sabaw na halaan was a perfect accompaniment to the seafood galore. With the tasty soup and the fresh fish, one can't go wrong in ordering it. The 210 peso price tag is also very reasonable.

Lastly, their drinks such as the Pineapple Kale and Cane juice were pretty unique and refreshing. At 130, these are a good representation of the Visayan taste.

This place was introduced to me by a friend. At first, I can't imagine why is name like that. But when I started to try their food, i realized why is the name of the resto choobi choobi. You will fell very happy while eating.
We ordered a pound of shrimp in mild butter garlic sauce, mussels in tao si sauce, cha tao miao (vegetable), and crispy pata. It tastes good. Also the price is right for the food. The place is good also. There's available parking lot inside their compound.

I was in Mactan Cebu a few weeks ago. Aside from the beach, we were really looking forward to eat Cebuano staples. It was on our first day that we got to try Choobi-Choobi beside Newport City I surprised myself for rhapsodizing about their Black Peppered Shrimp. I'm an unapologetic carnivore kasi. I don't relish seafood and I'm allergic to shrimps. But the crunchy shell, with faint taste of tanglad, and a whisper of caramelized sugar had me going bonkers after my initially tepid bites. Like Cookie Monster being handed an unopened bag of Chips Delight, I was all over the dish and half-minding the plate of Lechon Cebu. I got all excited when I learned that they have a branch in Quezon City. A few days after the Cebu vacation, I took the family to their Panay Avenue branch. The Cebuano Mom and Pop resto has put on big city airs in Panay Avenue. They have casual modern interiors complete with uniformed wait staff, and funky graphics all over. My hope was that the food and taste withstood the lure of modernization, or should I say, "Manila-nization." The black pepper shrimp seemed less tasty and the family's reception was good at Best Buy not great. Maybe it has to do with the quality of seafood we have here in Manila. Mactan has a thriving seafood culture and I'm sure they get the best and freshest. They did rave about the chicharon bituka, grilled squid and the clam soup. The latter did taste fresh. I wonder how it would taste had I ordered that in Cebu. Anyway, they love the place and are making plans to return. So I guess I will too.

I excitedly heard very good things about this place. So we decided to try it out.

We had Stan's Fried Black Pepper Shrimp and the Whole Choobang Chilean Mussles in a Bag. The mussels were a bit salty upon tasting it for the first time. Must have been the piece I ate cause after that, it wasn't salty anymore and it was pretty good. The shrimps were on the sweet side. I enjoyed eating them but I couldn't exactly taste the black pepper part of it.

The place was spacious and the wall that said Choobi Choobi was a fun way to brighten up the space.

I also asked what Choobi Choobi meant and it's supposedly a Chinese phrase that means something like "enjoy eating". Choobi Choobi supposedly started in Cebu so their tag line is Lingaw Lingaw Kaon which also means something to the sense of "have fun eating".

Choobi choobi started in Cebu and now they brought their menu in QC. Shrimps buckets are the specialty here so we tried their signature flavor and a salted egg to compare. Shrimps were fresh as they can be and the sauces are good too. Other dishes are ok too like the scalops (hoped they came in a extra big size. Hehe) pompano and even the bbq for my little one was very tender. 👍 With a reasonable price, lots of seats and ample parking this new resto is a must try and may become a regular in my seafood go to list.

Choobi Choobi is a new restaurant along Panay Ave. When I first saw the sign, when they were still closed, I was telling my friends that we should visit this restaurant when it opened. Lo and behold 'It is open!!'

It is a home-grown brand from Cebu, where wide variety of fresh catch seafood is available.

Cebu's cuisine, Su-Tu-Kil (sugba, tula, kilaw), popularizes seafood grill restaurant in their province. Choobi Choobi's concept is similar but slightly elevated to their normal grill restaurant.

They have a variety of seafood boil, shrimps, nz mussels (small), & langoustines. We chose the seafood barkada which is a mix of those three with 2 longganisas and a whole corn on a cob. (Butter Garlic). I like the freshness of the seafood. The shrimps were cooked just right and tasted sweet. Peel, then dip it in their butter. It was HEAVEN! The langoustines' meat were like crab meats, but abit drier with the taste of crabs! The mussels has their pwn distinct seafood taste compared to ours which is a bit bland. The corn was sweet and perfectly cooked.

Green and mean pinakbet. It is the usual pinakbet but cooked with pork and sweet bagoong. I like how the sweetness of the bagoong just highlights the sweetness of tne veggies. It is very rich and umami flavor from the brine shrimps.

Choobi-Choobi satisfied my seafood craving without leaving Manila to Cebu. It maybe a bit expensive compared to their Cebu branch, but it is still cheaper than flying there just to have the same satisfaction.
