Superb food and service. Will definitely come back soon 😁
I really liked the Shiromaro it's not that salty tho. My favorite is the Salmon Maki. I think the way it was cooked was perfect -it was not tasting raw which is good.
Love the new rolled chashu
Best place to grab some ramen in Eastwood! Would definitely come back to try their other dishes.
I love ramen, plain and simple. Ippudo remains one of my faves here in Manila. I've tried a few locations and Eastwood happens to be one of them. The Akabiru ramen with its grilled pork shoulder slices, jammy egg and hard noodles is about as good as it gets. Add the laboriously made broth and you've got a pretty solid ramen meal. I ordered a pork bun for an additional p125. The pork bun with its sweet favor, complimented the salt flavor of the soup broth perfectly. I highly recommend this ramen.
It is my first time to try at Ippudo and I fell inlove with all the dishes I had specially, their pork bun! I even have to order a take out and ate it in the car..
- Shiromaru special ramen - loved it! the broth is perfect for me.. it's light and perfect if you add the fresh garlic in it.
- Tori karaage - perfect fried chicken! tasty but not salty.
- Pork bun - I fell inlove w/ this dish! so far, this is the best pork bun for me! 😍
Ippudo is not among the hyped Ramen House in Manila but is definitely one, if not the best out there. You gotta try it! It never disappoints! The service is also consistently good.
It was our first time in this branch, and we love their prompt service.
The restroom in this place is clean and well-maintained.
We love their ramen. :)
One of the best in the metro.
I specifically asked for my noodles to be hard. I should've went for extra hard, but I feared that it might be too starchy for me. The pork bun is the best. Soft mantou bread with the Ippudo logo on it, very juicy and flavorful meat, I could probably finish a dozen.
Ramen is also big enough to be shared by 2 people, depending on your appetite.
Definitely coming back for more.
Place is okay, ramen is okay for me as well. Not something I’ll crave over and over, but definitely ranks above the other ramen houses in the PH. Overall a good experience still! :)
I'm a big fan of ramen or any Japanese dish. And the first resto in mind is always Ippudo. Since we were in Eastwood on a weekend night, we decided to go here to fix our cravings.
Husband and I ordered the Shiromaru Special and Okonomiyaki. I liked how the broth of the ramen was perfectly cooked, noodles were tender, and the meat was easily melted in the mouth. We also had the their Okonomiyaki which I found soooo goood! You know i tried Okonomiyak before but this one was so good, especially the sauce that made it taste liked bbq. I think I will be back for this!
Service was good but the aircon wasn't perfectly working that time. There was an uneven heat/cold inside the resto.
We ordered the torched salmon roll and the pork buns. The torched salmon roll was sooo good! And the pork bun was good though the pork was quite small compared to the one at the 30th branch, so the bun to filling ratio didn’t balance out as nicely.
I've been here two or three times, still the best ramen for me. The serving was huge and definitely worth the price for me. I always share my bowl of ramen with my partner since we don't want to overeat and bloat ourselves after. Their iced is in my favorite iced tea list, the best part is it is botomless. Everything was honestly amazing, even the staffs were friendly and accomodating. I would love to go back here!
(4.5/5) Although Mendokoro still remains my favorite ramen, this is going to prove to be a strong contender. I love the neutral interiors, the chic bowls and utensils, the love the servers give to the food, and of course, the food itself is to die for.
I ordered the Akamaru Shinaji (PHP 441 with service charge. Their servings are a tad smaller than Ramen Nagi and looks less fanciful, but the exquisite flavor is there. The taste is stronger than that of Santuoka, but it doesn't have that Suya factor that Ramen Nagi ramen usually has. Achieved the perfect balance of everything, I must say. If Mendokoro was full-on meaty, this one was a balanced bowl :)
🐽 Food: My parents and I ordered one each of the shiromaru ramen. We also added gyoza to complete our meal. We enjoyed our dinner!
🍴Ambiance: Spacious for big and small groups. Design of the restaurant is simple.
👫 Service: Servers were knowledgeable and quick.
💸 Price: Affordable meals and serving is generous.
This is the second time I visited Ippudo in Eastwood. First time was months ago the other year and I was not experimental and tried the usual ramen in the menu and I didnt like it. I found the soup with a certain gamey-not-fresh pork smell that didnt appeal to my pallete. Same taste with the chasu. So I said not worth repeating.
Today, I brought some members of my family because they wanted ramen. Since it is near my office, Ippudo Eastwood we went. They have something new named Tantanmen and it was not in the menu card. The waitperson explained it is their spiciest and I thought that would do to kill that taste that I dont like.
To my surprise, it was a lot better. Though the chasu still had that not fresh pork smell but the soup was great. The addition of cilantro gave it an exceptional taste. Plus it didnt have the tamago which I didnt like but it had an egg that was somewhat softer and blended with the soup well. The medium hardness of the noodles and the ground pork went great together with the soup.
We also ordered the cold japanese cucumber slices and it had spices that were uniquely tasty.
Unfortunately, there was a strand of thread in my chasu but they addressed it after reading my feedback form. On our way out, someone talked to me and apologized for the "thread" incident and next time I return, I get free ramen. I say, thats very nice customer retention practice.
To cap it, I would come back again for the good and prompt customer service and the Tantanmen because that ramen nailed the spot for me.
Our go to place for that perfect ramen. Place is spacious with prompt service from the staff. Definitely a place worth coming back to for that hot steaming bowl of ramen on any cold night.
I admit that I am not an avid noodles fan. My preferences stray more to the fried noodle style cooking but I decided to eat here with my bestfriend and kept my standards nonexistent.
The venue is very spacey with a very nice modern decor. Seats are comfy and we were given menus right away.
My order and opinions:
The Akamaru Ramen is a milky, rich meat based broth with garlic chilli oil for an extra kick. The flavor is strong and savory with a faint film of bitterness and heat mixed in because of the added chilli garlic oil.
The noodles (can be ordered in different types of texture/ I chose hard) , I loved how thin and firm it was and yet it was easy to digest. Of all the toppings, the tamago (egg) is soft and perfectly runny while the chashu pork provides more flavor and it literally melts in your mouth.
The sides which are Nanban Karaage and Seafood Okonomiyaki are very good complimentary dishes that stand on their own but at the same time, they don't take away the spotlight from the main dish.
The chicken had very good portions, flavored nicely with a crisp shell, I love the tartar sauce and salad that came with it while the seafood okonomiyaki is creamy, full of smoky flavor with a bit of creamy sourness from the japanese mayo and I highly recommend it.
Service and staff are really good. Orders came in without me craning my neck and asking for a follow up. The place was a bit busy by the time we left but they thanked us for dining on the way out.
Overall, I am still not addicted to it but I do appreciate that this ramen made me rethink the fact that not all of it is just glorified noodle soup. I will be sure to explore more ramen places in the future.
For all the people who are not into ramen, I recommend starting your journey with this restaurant.
We always frequent Ippudo Ramen whenever we need our ramen fix. I always order Shiromaru Ramen Tamago with hard noodles. It's one of the best ramen I've tasted so far. I'd give them a 5 star rating only if they remember me on my next visit. We're visit this branch so often and yet we're always asked if it's our first time 😂
The spicy miso ramen is fantastic. The chicken and pork buns are bomb. The gyoza are decent. Really the only letdown here is the chicken karaage - it's mediocre and served here in tiny portions. Avoid that and everything else is awesome. Good service too.
Ippudo is on top of the too many ramen restos in the country. Its noodles are fresh and its soup are tasty. You can sense that they use fresh ingredients. Worth coming back to.
My boyfriend was craving for some ramen and he likes Ippudo’s dishes.
Beef Ishiyaki Rice (Php 495) beef stewed rice meal in Ishiyaki sauce. Sweet with a little tangy taste to it topped with veggies and beef strips. You got to mix everything before eating to enjoy it fully.
Deep fried Gyoza (Php 225) whenever we order it why to they serve it in the middle or last. It supposed to be an appetizer. Not only them but other Jap restaurants too.
Akamaru Special (Php 499) Original Tonkotsu broth, he enjoyed it.
AC wasn’t working and it was pretty warm inside. Hope they’ll fix it soon.
My daughter's favorite ramen place. She always wants to eat here. The torched salmon is super tasty as well as the okonomiyaki. The staff is very attentive and does not need to be called twice for requests.
where to start? i dunno.. help me out here please hahahaha by far the best japanese resto hands down.. i will definitely come back again and agai and again for many many more
Food is great and the staff is polite. They suggest great food if you're not fond of Japanese food. The price is expensive, but if you're looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant and/or a date place, this is a great place to be!
Not my go-to ramen place, but I must say that theirs is good although it is a bit pricey. I ordered a bowl of Akamaru Chashu which included a tamago and additional slices of braised pork. The braised pork was so tender that it was easy to just finish all of it right away. I also ordered Gyoza, which I think was just ordinary.
Although this is not my number 1 pick for Ramen, i still found their food good. I miss the chewiness of the noodles from the other ramen place but the Pork Buns make up for it. They are soft and flavorful. I wish it isnt so expensive though! Place looks good and servers are helpful.
This is my first time trying their ramen and I must say that you get what you pay for plus an exceptional service from the food attendants. Its just so happened that 1 or 2 of their airconditioning was broken during our dine. Although the food attendant informed us before we get seated so nothing to complain really.
Ate here a while ago. Here is our order:
GOMA Q: japanese sliced cucumber with sesame oil. Very refreshing and crunchy! I did not expect that this dish will gonna be taste so well.:)
SHORIMARU: i ordered the noodles super hard but when served, it wasnt so hard after all but its alright. For the broth i like the taste and its not too oily like the other ramen house.
AKAMARU: did not try it but my fiance told me the taste is almost the same with shorimaru.
GYOZA: i wrap is toasted and the meat inside is tender and juicy. Its perfect!👌
CHICKEN BUN: the chicken is crispy juicy and tastey.
All in all this is a great restaurant service is excellent and the food is great! Definitely will go back here!:)
Came here to know what the hype was. My cousin kept raving to me about it and the curious me tried it out... and indeed it’s worth its fame.
Place:
The interior was spaced enough to accomodate enough customers but for a 9PM, we’re still seated outside for a waiting list and more customers were coming. Once inside, the place was too warm.
Food:
I first tasted the broth and it indeed tasted like an authentic Japanese ramen, noodles were cooked to my preferable softness, the chashu meat melted once in my mouth and the soft boiled egg were salted and creamy. Everything from the ramen was perfect, no question.
The ebi tempura was satisfactory as well, we enjoyed its crunchiness which was new to us upon having tasted a variety of sushi. With or without the sauce, it’s all worth a try.
Service:
Attentive and polite. Our host made sure that the comfort were suited to our liking and it did, we enjoyed our stay.
Price:
Comparing to the other ramen I had gone to, Ippudo is the priciest. But in regards to its quality of food and service, everything is worth the dime.
Summary:
If you’re craving for a ramen that’s closest to Japan’s, y’all should go to this one. Never disappointing. No wonder my cousin kept on telling me to go to Ippudo. It got me nostalgic on Japan and would definitely come back again.
One of my favorite Ramen place. A bit pricy but if you will get to taste it, its worth it.
Favorite will be the Salmon Roll, Akamaru Special, Gyoza and their special Seafood Ramen.
Staff are very attentive, polite and professional. Place is clean and nice. You can actually share one ramen if your a light eater.
Eating ramen at this Ippudo branch is satisfying just like other branches not only because they serve the best ramen in town but because staffs are just on the go whenever you need them!
Okonomiyaki is superb! :) I enjoyed karaka more than the akamaru. still, either is a good choice! Preferrably best with hard noodles. The staff were really attentive, and initiative to refill water (y) (y). One thing tho, we were placed by the corner of the store kaya medyo mainit. I didn't like where we were seated kaso no choice, filled ang tables by 4pm on a saturday. Imagine hot ramen in a slightly warm corner. Tho, doesn't make the experience less of an experience.

Not my first time in Ippudo my first was in megamall, Food is outsdtanding as always, service not so with this eastwood branch. They are quite slow in attending to customers and worst experience is thay my dad used his seniors discount and they did not apply it correctly so we didnt really get the benefit of that and they still charged my card full price.
EDIT: Came back to this place today 4/29/18 and as I mentioned food is and always be SUPERB! And hey maybe yes 2nd times a charm! Customer service was FANTASTIC, Jessa the Mngr of the Branch was the sweetest nicest Mngr I’ve encountered so far! This time everything was way better, faster and awesome customer service was uniform to all customers. And thank you too Ippudo for the kind Gesture.
Taste is ok. No complain. However the problem is the price,,,, almost 550php includes tax and vat is not reasonable for many person. We can go there just special occasions

The ambiance is great! The waiter is very attentive although it seems like they are guarding you & feels like youre under pressure to order right away. The food is good for sharing & grammable! Overall experience is great though!

I finally succumbed to the hype. And I have to admit that it's real. The food here is great, but the service is even better. The staff really knows how to take care of customers.
I ordered:
1. Yokohama Eikei- the only thing I didn't like was the texture of the pork. Everything else, the spinach, the broth, the noodles, the tamago, was divine.
2. Extra noods- only the thin ones were available
3. Refillable Iced tea- the server must have refilled my glass 20 times. I never had to ask.
I may go back today.
We ordered the ff:
Shiromaru Special - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Akamaru Special - ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2
Smoked Salmon Roll - ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2
Okonomiyaki - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Their branch @ Libis is very spacious with a very friendly staff. An employee recognized us as well on our second visit! So heart-warming. ♥ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
5/5 babalik-balikan talaga! 😊
Spending New year’s dinner here at Ippudo Libis, ordered their Tonkatsu Ramen with soft boiled egg and pork bun.
Pork bun’s meat is over cooked and the meat became dry. The broth is not as flavourful as versus the firsts few months they opened, tasted like Penoy.
The soft boiled egg is borderline hard and soft, was expecting it to be a bit more runny. Service was excellent and the time it took to serve our orders was a delight.
My second time to eat in Ippudo and first time in the EW branch. I decided to have dinner alone on a Friday night cos it was so hard to get an Uber going home.
I had the Akamaru special. Jaimie, the server, was so efficient that she gave me exactly what I asked for; Hard noodles, medium spicy and piping hot broth.
It was gone in 5 minutes! 👍🏼
Getting stranded is not as bad with this kind of meal! 👏🏼
One of my favorite ramen restaurant aside from Hanamaruken.
Very intimate dining setup, interiors are designed very well and played around the ramen concept. You'll see ramen bowls and soup spoon hanging on the walls which is really eye catching.
Very intimidating if it's your first time but the servers are really accommodating and they will take care of you throughout the entirety of your course. They are very prompt and attentive. They proactively gave my daughter a cute kiddie bowl and chopstick which makes me happy with their service.
Aside from the wonderful service, the food is top notch! It's my 3rd time in Ippudo but they never fail to amaze me. The broth is delicate, the char siu is very tender and will literally melt in your mouth without too much effort. Some will say that it is expensive but aside from the quality food, you'll get quality service in a quality restaurant, so it's a win-win situation.
Really love our Ippudo experience! Will definitely come back for more, maybe this weekend, yes?
Let's rate them shall we?
Food: 5/5
Ambiance: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Value for money: 5/5

You can never go wrong with ramen on a rainy day. We went here for a late lunch. I ordered the Karaka special and I loved it. The broth was thick and has the right spiciness in it. I liked it so much I even ordered extra noodles. I also tried their pork buns. Got a buy one take one promo from booky app. The buns were soft, fluffy and heavy on the stomach. The pork has some sweet barbeque flavor. If you don't like eating pork fat, don't get this since but if you want to live your life to the fullest the go and maybe eat 10. It's very addicting since you get that pork partnered with their special mayo sauce of some sort. It's my second time to eat at ippudo. The first time I tried, they had spicy tuna roll in their menu and I loved it. Sadly they don't have it anymore but they have a torched tuna roll which was good too but I like the spicy tuna roll better.
The staff were very attentive and nice. They refill your water and don't even have to ask for it. They are concern with you and your food. I ordered extra noodles and they told me that my broth might not be hot enough for a very hard noodles and all that. They really are concerned for their customers.
Great job! Keep up the great work!
As one of the popular ramen places in Manila, I know that this place could get pretty crowded. Luckily, we went there during off-peak hours and got a seat right away. This particular branch was not that spacious so expect to wait during peak hours. Their menu was very simple. The staff serving us was kind enough to explain their menu items, including a few recommendations. We tried the Akamaru Special, Shiromaru Motoaji, and salmon rolls. The salmon rolls were flavorful and served in huge portions. The ramens, however, were nothing special. I've tasted a richer broth and a bigger serving in other places for the price I paid. Thumbs up for the service though.
It was what you would expect from a ramen bar: generous serving, rich broth, but honestly nothing amazingly extraordinary. I would have also preferred a more fatty piece for my meat but that's just a personal preference. The servers were really nice but at the time I was eating there was a fly that just wouldn't leave. I hope they improve on that!
I would like to give thanks for the people who work in this restaurant, theyre making THE BEST RAMEN ive ever taste. Thank you for branching out here in libis. I love you.
Currently my favorite ramen place. Ramen tasted great. Tried all of their ramen and they're all a hit. Attentive servers but went there once and the aircondition was broken. Nevertheless, everything went well :) Will come back again.

Ordered Shiromaru and Akamaru special. Supeeeer good! 👌😋 Karaage is also good, sauce is to die for.
Did I get my money's worth for the hefty price? Yes. If only they can fix their AC, store temp is a bit hot. Papawisan ka talaga while eating the piping hot ramen. Pero all in all, a very good dining experience. Will definitely go back here.
My first ramen adventure.
I am not much of a ramen person, or a noodle peraon even. However, some concessions must be made when invited by a boss who came from outside of the country. Again, our gustatory senses led us to another place we rarely go to in our office foodventures.
Food. 5/5
Again, I am not an expert on ramens, hence, I have nothing to compare Ippudo's ramen with. We all ordered the same Akamaru Special. This is like my initiation into the wonderful world of ramens. For a first taste of ramen, Ippudo have made me taste things to look forward to in noodles. Their ramen was really full of taste that appealed to my untested ramen taste buds.
Their gyoza and their house blend tea are also to die for.
Ambiance. 4.5/5
I liked how the crew maintains the restaurant. It is clean. Moreover, spacious table settings give diners ample space. We got to occupy the big table fronting the entrance. 😁😁 I also like the resto's minimalist interior. The only thing that was off putting was the airconditioning.
Service. 4/5
The crew was accommodating and looked after us. However, our orders took sometime before they got served in front us. I guess it took about 20 to 30 minutes before our main orders were served.
Price. 4/5
Honestly, it was pricey. However, at the end of the day, the question to be asked is did I get my money's worth. I have to say yes. 😁😁
Date visited: August 3, 2017
Dined sometime around mid-August for dinner, about 7pm.
Great place! Loved the simplicity of their menu with just over 3 types of ramen items to choose from and a few side dishes, also the ability to order the firmness of the noodles (extra hard, hard, medium, soft).
Seating queue was about 15mins long on Saturday evening, we were seated by the counter facing the kitchen which we could watch as it was just glass separating us. Well ventilated.
Quick service time,
Food was great. Service queue was very long and took 1.5hrs till we get a seat. Ambient temp at the farmost table was hot :(. All great except for the aircon facility.
The best place for ramen in the metro. Though me and girlfriend had to wait for more than 20 minutes, i would say its definitely worth the wait! Perfect place to experience authentic ramen noodles. Excellent service! Staff is so accommodating and perfectly shared us the components of each product/food. 10/10 for their food. And worth to go back and experience the best ramen..over and over again. Haha.
This is a minute away from my place but I only had the chance to dine here just now. I regret not doing so soon enough! I loved their Yokohama Lekei! The gyoza was alright but I was wrong to order the deep fried one. Should've stuck with the plain one because gyoza is perfect that way. I'm gonna come back here soon!
I haven't had much ramen before so I don't really have much basis for comparison but I must say that their ramen is quite good. It has just the right amount of saltiness and sourness. Plus the fried gyoza was a perfect match!
As loyal customers of Ippudo, we brought our friends to celebrate Bani's 10K subscriber mark on YouTube! And this branch exceeded our expectations. They got our orders right and orders arrived quickly. Most of them tried Ippudo for the first time and they loved it! The staff even allowed us to tape Bani's gold balloons on their glass wall. Thanks Eastwood branch! We're bringing more friends soon
The food was okay. But paying 400php for a ramen that doesn't taste that good is somewhat disappointing. And yes, I still rated them 4 not because of their food but because of how they handled my complain. We ordered 5 ramens and 3 appetizers, we were almost finished with our ramens but the appetizers is still nowhere to be found so I told them to just cancel it. But the Manager served us the late appetizers for free. (we still paid for them coz baka i kaltas sakanila yun) and then after a few minutes they gave us another bowl of ramen for free (this time we didn't pay for it coz they insisted it haha) Anyway, kudos to them for trying to make their customers satisfied with their service. The dining staff are very pleasant although they are a little noisy and annoying because they keep shouting these Japanese greetings everytime they will serve some food to the customers. I'd still recommend this if you are craving for ramen.
By far the best ramen place I've eaten in Manila!
I say this because I finished the entire bowl! In other ramen houses I've been to, there's usually some leftover broth & noodles after I'm done eating their ramen, but it was different with Ippudo. There was absolutely nothing left! I indulged with much gusto, going so far as tilting the bowl up in order to get the last drop of soup inside. It was just perfect for me.
Even though I finished an entire bowl to myself, I still had room for their sides, which were the karaage and okonomiyaki. Between the two, I loved their okonomiyaki the most. It was filled with chunks of squid & 3 juicy shrimps on top. I think they're the only ramen restaurant that has okonomiyaki as a side pairing, so be sure to order it during your visit.
For people who know me well knows that I am a sucker for ramen. I love the comforting feel of a flavorful broth and firm noodles of a good ramen. And let us not forget the egg and chashu 😊
I've been to several ramen places but for some reason I haven't been to Ippudo. This is the reason why after my session in KARADA in Eastwood I decided to have lunch at Ippudo.
The restaurant was quite full when I got there but I did not have to wait for a table.
I ordered the Yokohama ramen with the torched chashu. I always enjoyed the grilled/torched chashu because the grilling gives it another depth of flavor that makes the ramen more interesting. The broth is a combination of chicken and pork broth and it was satisfying. I like my noodles hard and the noodles from Ippudo was chewy, just the way I like it. The ramen I ordered also had bitter greens that complimented the ramen so well (it was quite a nice surprise). Overall my ramen experience in Ippudo was very satisfying.
I also tried their pork bun because I am quite obsessed with baos for quite sometime. The bao they used for the bao was very good. The meat is generous but what was a little off putting for me was the mayonnaise. I just felt that it did go well with the sandwich as a whole. I was also expecting a little sweetness from the glaze of the put but I just get saltiness. Do not get me wrong. This pork bun is good but I had better.
If there is one thing that I look for in a restaurant when I eat out is the customer service and I must say Ippudo really delivered good customer service. The servers were attentive and helpful.
Good job Ippudo 😊
We ordered Akamaru Special, Deep-fried Gyoza, and Okonomiyaki. We definitely enjoyed everything. Perfect way to de-stress after a long, hard day/week.
House blend iced tea was good. Karaka men special was flavorful but not spicy enough. Decent sizes for the ramen and good portion sizes for the toppings. Okonomiyaki could have been a bit bigger but the taste was ok. Ambience was nice. Servers were polite and attentive (i didn't need to request for iced tea refills). Tables were spacious
I ordered Shiromaru Tamago (also known as Hakata-style ramen). What else can I say, the broth/soup was so smooth, it has pork loin, bean sprouts kikurage and spring onions. I chose Hard when it comes to how I want my noodles to be cooked (even though the waiter suggested very hard, for al dente) still, the strands are delicate but with an al dente spring, comes webbed with skinny, straight noodles. It is the city’s best ramen because its temperature were cranked up to a soul-warming scorch. Drooltastic!
Super duper love their ramen. First time kong kumain with my best friend, siya yung nagsabi tungkol sa restaurant na ito and sa ramen. Thumps up 👍👍😄
I am a fan of Ramen and Ippudo has always been one of my favorite. I always find it a plus for them to have the cute bag basket below your sit. Well anyway.. definitely one of my go to places if I crave ramen.

This restaurant is relatively new in Eastwood. About 2 weeks after it opened, my bff and I ate here. Had to wait for almost 20 minutes to be seated. Thinking it's a weekday night. Anyway, it was definitely worth the wait!!
Loved everything about their ramen and gyoza!! Will surely come back to eat here!!

To officially welcome the Year of the Rooster, I decided to have noodles for dinner. I didn't want it to be just any kind of noodles though - I wanted it to be something I'd surely enjoy so I decided I will have ramen - and so I found myself in Ippudo.
I love the simplicity of their menu - Practically three kinds of ramen (main difference is the broth/soup) that you can customize in terms of toppings and hardness of noodles, plus several more items for sides. This allows for quick service without sacrificing quality. So while I wouldn't normally spend Php 500 on a serving of whatever, after tasting the flavorful broth, savoring the melt in your mouth slices of pork and slurping the fresh noodles, I ended up feeling like it was money well spent.
I wasn't very happy with the service. They were inconsistent in greeting customers and bidding them farewell. Also, there was lack of communication between the staff that caused confusion with my order and that of the person beside me. The place was fairly busy when I went. Given that I was alone, I was seated at a huge table which I shared with a number of other lone and small group diners. Finally, I had to ask for my tab twice before I got it so I think the staff really was somewhat lacking in terms of attention.
I will definitely come back for the food though.
Update:
Rating for this visit: 4.5
True to their commitment to delighting customers, Ippudo invited me to visit again for a bowl of ramen on them. Who says no to that?
So I brought with me my ramen-loving daughter for a food trip. Since the ramen will be free I grabbed the chance to try other items on the menu.
It didn't come as a surprise that my daughter loved the ramen and rated it a 5. She was impressed by the craftsmanship that went into it and was delighted with the pink kiddie bowl and chopsticks she was given to eat in/with.
I got to try their Pork Bun, Seafood Okonomiyaki and Black Sesame Ice Cream for the first time.
The pork bun was good though I wouldn't say the best I've tried, but this is only a matter of preference. I had tried pork buns elsewhere where the pork was a little crispy and I liked the contrast in texture that made. Taste-wise, Ippudo's was good.
I enjoyed the Okonomiyaki. My daughter didn't like it very much. I was surprised by the creaminess and the different flavors from the cabbage and seafood. It reminded me of my quest for the best Takoyaki.
Lunch ended on such a high note because of the Black Sesame Ice Cream - light and refreshing and with such a subtle taste that's well complimented by the mung beans and wafers. Yum! I'd order a tub of it if they sold it in volume.
Yang was the staff who waited on us and she was great from greeting us at the door to making sure we were comfortable with the menu to making sure we had what we need and were enjoying our food. And, yes, she was already great with us even before she had found out about my less than satisfactory experience the last time.
I'll be back!
I still had flu when we had dinner here. It was my first time to eat at Ippudo. I'm curious since it always tops the list for the best ramens in Manila. When we got there, there was already a line outside. We patiently queued and I noticed that service was quick. After a few minutes of waiting, we already got a table.
I'm not familiar with their ramens so I just got the most basic ramen in the menu. I chose medium for the hardness of noodle while my husband chose hard. I asked if they have a toilet inside and they have one. I went to the toilet and when I came back, my order was already served. It was that quick.
I love the soup broth - it was perfect for my flu. We can't tell the difference between the medium and hard noodles though. We also got the Nanban Karaage - I find it too oily and I didn't like its tartar sauce that comes with it.
Ippudo, the international ramen phenomenon, is finally spreading smiles and "arigatou" with their delicious bowls of ramen at Eastwood City's fast-rising food strip, Eastwood Avenue. The world-class ramen house's roots began at 1985 Hakata, Japan's ramen capital, when Ramen King Shigemi Kawahara opened his first ramen store. Since then, they've opened over 80 stores around the world, with long lines a common sight in every store. If you're interested to know more about Ippudo's history, check it out here.
From the very first sip, I can confidently place Ippudo as one of my top 3 ramen restaurants in Metro Manila. What they have is perfection in a bowl with a delicate balance between the broth, ingredients, and noodles resulting such a delicious bowl of ramen.
Ippudo's signature Hakata-style tonkotsu (pork-based) broth is what makes every bowl of ramen coming out of Ippudo's kitchen special. It probably took the Ramen King years of hard work, constantly changing and innovating the recipe, before he was able to come up with the perfection.
Here's what you can expect from your first visit at Ippudo, Eastwood Avenue...
So happy that one of my favourite ramen joints is now closer to my neighborhood. Ippudo just opened their 5th branch on the ground floor of 1880 Building in Eastwood City.
Visited them on opening day and got my usual ramen fix--the Karaka-Men special. The large bowl of Ramen arrived in no time at all, glistening and brimming with an extremely generous amount of toppings.
The tonkotsu broth was rich, seriously savoury, and one of the best we've tried in Manila. The pork chashu slices were cooked to perfection--soft, delicate, tasty, and well worth the extra calories. ;) So, if you're in the area and want something comforting and filling, I highly recommend Ippudo.
Nothing bad can be said about Ippudo except that it didn't open sooner! This and Ramen Nagi are my 2 picks, with Ramen Nagi still on top. Try their Akamaru Special P490 and their Pork Buns P125. If only I could take home some of the buns and the ramen, I would! Still wondering why most ramen bars don't allow this. Maybe because the noodles will get too soggy? But then they would have just separated the broth from the noodles to settle that. Anyway, it IS good! Pricey but worth it!

Finally, something delicious near my place of work. Ippudo opened its doors last Monday, December 12 with long lines almost circling around the building. Good thing I was invited the Friday before for a stress test. It was my first time and it was fun.
I liked the process. It is common for Ippudo to have long lines, and the service staffs are fully aware of it and are good in managing the line. They constantly update you on your seats and even give you water while you wait. Once entered, every staff shouts a welcome greeting while the receptionist sits you. Then, a server attends to you and suggests their best-sellers. Service is excellent and they really make you feel comfortable.
What really made them famous is the food. Being in a group, we were able to try a lot of different dishes. For this visit, I tried their Shiromaru Special which is topped with a lot of chashu. The chashu is tender and flavorful. The soup tasted great too. I don't really drink the broth most of the time because of its saltiness, but I think I finished this because of its flavor and not really salty at all. For the texture of the noodles, you can choose how soft or hard you want it. Once you've tasted it, you will understand why their ramen is famous.
I have also tried one of their newest dishes, the Seafood Okonomiyaki. Okonomiyaki or Japanese pizza is filled with cabbage, flour, seasonings, squid, and other seafood. Plus, it is topped with 3 beautiful pieces of prawns. Taste is delicious but a little salty, maybe because it is a seafood dish.
Trust me, the line is worth the wait. It is good to know that Eastwood is having at least one good restaurant.
Ippudo opened its 5th branch at Eastwood last December 12... They are more than ready to serve the many customers that are sure to line up to taste their ramen. How do I know they are ready? I actually lined up for their stress test last Saturday night...
I avoid long lines at all costs but I had so much fun waiting with friends... I liked how they gave us updates regarding our place in line. We were served cold tea and fried noodles to keep everyone cool while in line. Even during the really long wait, the staff were fun enough to joke around with us.
Once inside, we brought our A-game... We asked a lot of questions, changed our orders, and followed up constantly. The staff were able to hold their own and then some. Cool!👍
Our group shared some appetizers... We tried the Hakata style gyoza, pan-fried and delicious. It wasn't oily and the dumpling held together well when dipped into the sauce. We all liked the Nanban karaage-- again it wasn't oily and it was great with the tartar sauce. Surprisingly, we were all impressed by their seafood okonomiyaki... This surpasses some of the okonomiyakis from specialty stores in the metro. I was surprised at how creamy it was. I suggest you try this on your visit.
We all tried different entrees. I ordered the Akamaru Chasu-- made with their original tonkotsu broth spiked with miso paste and garlic oil... This has easily become my favorite ramen from this chain. Slightly spicy and very satisfying, put an extra pinch of garlic and sesame seeds to bring out the flavor even more. I shy away from tamago, but the ones who ordered the Akamaru special were all happy with their order.
I also tried the Shiromaru Motoaji, their classic Hakata style ramen. It was good, but somehow I found that it was lacking something. I prefer the more modern Akamaru to this ramen, anyday.
One of our friends tried the Kuro, their newly introduced squid ink ramen. I am not a fan of squid ink, so I intentionally skipped this. But those who tried it enjoyed it.
Did you know Ippudo offers rice bowls? We were able to try the unagi rice in stone pot and the beef ishiyaki rice. I have to recommend the rich beef bowl-- it had cherry tomatoes, garlic chips, corn, beans and yakiniku sauce. Mix everything before you eat it and let it cool a bit before taking a bite. Think Pepper rice: it burns the tongue! But this is soooo good! We were again surprised that a ramen chain churned out an amazing rice dish. I guess they really aim to impress and they did!😃
Seriously, Ippudo is worth lining up for...
