For us, when asked for a restaurant with great Filipino Food, Mesa will always come out of that list.
(F)ood:
Another restaurant that serves Filipino food with a twist.
What we usually order:
Tinapa Rice - flavorful rice of smoked fish. Love this rice but I hope they would amp up the serving size since the rice is so yummy and when shared, I think it can only serve 2 persons :)
Pork Sinigang in Guawa and Pineapple - there is something magical in this dish. maybe it is the wonderful mix of sweet and sour pineapple and that unique guava taste. It's like the flavors are looking for your attention so they acted as a team and impressed you well :) haha! But it took me a while before I loved this one of a kind soup.
Crispy Boneless Tilapia with four sauces - super love this dish and its special sauces, particularly love the honey patis dip! yummy!
Crispchon - yummy young lechon served in two ways! either in a pandan crepe or chili garlic. so sumptuos and yummy!
Baby squid in olive oil - super love this dish! yummy yummy yummy!
They also offer seasonal seafood like crab, which you can choose the way you want it cooked, I prefer it to be salted and spicy
(A)mbience:
The layout is like an open restaurant with some seats outside the the main restaurant. Their place is quite small for large groups but partitions were made for a more private feel (I am not sure if they have special rooms for special private reservations). but they have The place is neat and tidy and is well-kept. But this place is great for bonding with family or your friends.
(B)utler Service:
The servers are friendly and provide our requests at once.
Mesa is a favourite go to place for Filipino restaurant. I love their tofu with century egg. And the Pata and Karekare is the best. Although it’s a little hot in the area. But will still be back ☺️
Mesa Moderne Filipino understands that adapting to change is everything. Despite being recognized consistently as one of the top Filipino restaurant retailers, still, they innovate their menu regularly.
On this Looloo rendezvous, we were presented a whole new line-up of creative concepts brought about on what they feel their customers are and will look for.
First, let me suggest a pairing, a certified must-have combination especially when you are with family and friends. The All Meat Platter of classic Filipino barbecue with a bowl of Tinapa Fried Rice. You have juicy, well-seasoned barbecue chicken, beef (tadyang) and pork matched with tasty and smoky flavors of tinapa. Heaven!
If you grew up craving for Sinigang, Mesa has a unique variety with Sinigang na Hipon with Guava and Pineapple. The source of sourness collides with some hints of sweetness, given the presence of two different fruits.
Mesa also added traditional Pancit Canton and a twist on the familiar Adobong Kangkong. These new savory pieces should be enough to get you to visit them again.
The last bite before our team went to another Foodee Global Concepts restaurant was Turon with Langka Ice Cream. This packed a punch with its strong lingering taste! The saba and jackfruit wrapped together seemed like it was meant to be.
Mesa awaits you. When is the next occasion?
I was craving for Kare-Kare so we went here for dinner. They have two kinds of kare-kare: Beef and Tripe and the Oxtail kare-kare. The Beef and Tripe is cheaper than the other one but both tastes great. I love the peanut sauce. Serving size is just good for 2 persons. Service is good but I just find this branch small and cramped.
Sobrang sarap !!!!
This is some tasty delish food we talking here people...the only reason they didn't get a 5 was I didn't like the place/ambience.
I love my traditional Filipino food....its still the comfort food of my soul..so we ordered some not the usual but still classic dishes:
Crispy Pork Binagoonan (probably spelt this wrong for $ sake)
Fried whole Hito fish (wtf)
Liempo (can never be wrong)
Adobong Pusit (darkness is here)
BBQ Chicken (felt we needed more)
The pork binagoonan is a 50/50 dish for most people.....I absolutely love the saltiness but any gwai lo will hate this dish fo sho.....the texture and tomatoes in it were amazing
Hito...fried fish..nuff said...fresh and cant go wrong
Liempo....you can never stuff this up....this is one my default Filipino dishes...give me liempo every time son
Adobong pusit....this looks bad....but the taste is out of this world....this is one of my favourite dishes to eat especially if its fresh...so tender so juicy...like hot dogs
Bbq chicken...tastes nice...only issue was three pieces u serz cuzzy
My officemates and I had our lunch here. I enjoyed all the flavors their foods offer. The staff are also accommodating.
Lasang lutong bahay. I missed it so much since worklife is taking so much of my time.
Food is great but the serving size is a bit small, hence compromising the value for money. They had food for sharing (good for 2-3) but in my opinion is can only serve one. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating.
One of the best casual dining that serves super delicious food with generous serving at a very affordable price! Match it with a good service from the crew and a very nice ambiance. Definitely a place you will go back again and again and again :)
Accessible Pinoy food in Eastwood Mall, it's perfect for your rice cravings.
In the pics, you'll find some of their good dishes (those we normally order):
- Baby Squid in Olive Oil P310
- Prawns Sauteed with Salted Egg P375
- Crispy Boneless Pata P505
- Crispy Boneless Tilapia Served with Four Sauces P340
- Inihaw Sampler P725
- Laing Fried Rice P165 or Sisig Rice P185 .. good for around 4 people. Sisig rice - barely any sisig so I recommend to go for the laing one.
Other good stuff here:
- Baked Scallops with Garlic Butter P225
- Laing 2 Ways P170
Solid food as usual from mesa. Opted for the set menus because there were 10+ of us in the group and despite some of the dishes in the set menu not something i would normally order lile pinaputukan na bangus, all of them were of good taste and quality. Mesa has mantained an acceptable level of quality across their branches which is difficult now tht they have quite a lot of. Definitely a solid place to treat guests as they will not disappoint.
Lunch. We ordered sinigang, fried hito, gising-gising, kare-kare and ofcourse tinapa rice. ❤ Sinigang has the right amount of asim. Hito has crisp to perfection. Sarap ng kare-kare. Then yung gising-gising sakto yung anghang.
Service is ok, although can be slow at times and there was a mix up over final order and billing out, it didn't put me off entirely.
The food. Wow. Such an amazing contrast of textures and flavors in the Pork Binagoongan- crispy yet still juicy pork pieces, subtly sweet-salty bagoong flavor, onions were crunchy yet mild flavored, juicy tomato slices and the divine roasted eggplant.
The chicken was good as well, if a bit on the sweet side. The kamias cooler was refreshing, though the ones you can buy at Zubochon are way better.
Star of the night was the Laing Rice. Unbelievably tasty and flavorful, there was almost no need to order anything else. You could seriously eat it on its own.
The best part? Bill came out to only PhP600++, for a meal that could easily serve 3. Come on over and try Mesa and their award-winning fare!
Oh MESA!!! Your meals are yummy! I am stoked every time we eat here! I can just eat Tinapa rice! It's so good. The garlic chicken is delicious too. We also tried their Inihaw Platter, which is very sulit for me. I love their version of fried Leche Flan/ Turon! Plus, all of the food are IG-worthy!
Eastwood branch's interior is so pretty. And they have good service too.
Picking a Restaurant that serves Filipino food is always a challenge but Mesa exceeded my family's expectations. Food selection is reasonably priced.
HITS:
Baby Squid in Olive Oil (we had to order an additional plate, it's so good)
Tinapa Roll
Salmon Sinigang complements the Inihaw Platter
MISS:
The area can be crowded and noisy.
The place is located in a slightly isolated area from the mall so the noise coming from the mall is minimized so it's a good place to have meetings or gatherings.
Their service was awesome and the staff were all attentive and serves with a smile.
We ordered a few items from their menu including an ostrich dish which piqued our interest because it's rare to find a dish with that kind of protein being used.
Their liempo and Barbecue are both good. Both meat are tender and delicious. Nothing really specracular, but for sure money won't be wasted.
The drunken ostrich tasted a bit sweet for an entrée, but it has a unique flavor that must have been brought out by the alcohol and the garlic that made the sauce very unique. Btw the ostrich meat is like a beef and not like chicken.
The next one is their deep fried catfish(hito). The coating or breading made the fish standout. It was very tasty that it completely masked the earthy taste of the catfish. This was only my second time to eat a catfish so I expected A LOT of fishbones, but I was really surprised that it was deboned perfectly.
The crispy pata had a very interesting taste. They used very strong spices as meat rub that the skin had that extra umph. The flavor is exploding in the taste buds and the fragrance was just so addicting.
Lastly my favorite.
Grilled squid and fried squid. Two simple dishes that invited you for another bite. The fried giant squid(wasn't really gigantic) has a minced meat filling which gave it the woah factor. It made it extra savory which really trickled my taste buds.
The grilled squid had that strong aroma that would really remind you of the sea. Its like you're walking on the seaside and then you'll smell the grilled squid. That's what it was like.
Sorry for the anime like descriptions, but I just really enjoyed the food.
1 pt for the place, it was very cozy and home-like. It gives you this at-home-in-the-Philippines vibe because of how the place was designed.
1 pt for the staff, they are very accomodating and very prompt and when you request something they attend to it in a timely manner
2.0 pt for the food. I must say their Tofu sisig tastes really really good, their Sinigang is one the best I have tasted, it has bayabas and pineapple which gives an extra "asim-but-not-so-much" taste to it. I don't usually drink the soup, but their sinigang soup tastes so good, I drank it 😁.
0.5 pt for the price. It was a bit pricey though, Their halo-halo was too expensive and there was nothing much special too it (sorry).
Even though we don’t travel that much and eat out frequently, we’ve always noticed Mesa Filipino Moderne. It’s quite catchy and we always see a long queue of people waiting to get seated. Well, it must be good, right? And then, some of our friends and relatives who have been there told us that it actually is. So on our anniversary, we treated ourselves a sumptuous lunch at Mesa Filipino Moderne in Eastwood Mall.
Last December 12, 2015, Aldous Calubad the Great invited me to join him for an upscale gathering at MESA Restaurant. The venue was located in Eastwood, Quezon City. The occasion was marked by the Christmas party of Team Aldous and the food review of the restaurant. According to the owner, the restaurant is a fusion of the best dishes of Asian cuisines, with a heavy emphasis on Filipino, Chinese, and Thai specialties. He also pointed out that the restaurant is just one of his businesses on a long list of establishments. As a veteran restauranteur, he has been at the helm in managing some of the most popular franchises including Tim Ho Wan.
Thanks a lot for the good customer assistance you have provided... I thought it is only in foreign countries that customer protection is being provided, but that has been answered by what you done for me... thanks again and God Bless :-)
Mesa is one of the most popular filipino restaurants located in Eastwood city. Although the food is more expensive than what I'm usually choosing to eat, the price was worth it.
For a team lunch, we ordered a lot of food for sharing. There was a barbecue platter, kare kare, crispy pata, sinigang na salmon, laing and others I can't recall/wasn't able to take a picture of.
I've only been here twice and the food and service never disappoints. It's a must to try their crispy pata and although I don't eat Kare kare, my colleagues said it was delicious.
This restaurant is recommended when you will be dining with a big group. Also, it's better to call for a reservation first as it's almost always fully booked.
My high school batchmate is actually the owner of Mesa so that really hit me on how successful my other high school batchmates are. I on the other hand came to his restaurant to blog about it. I found some of their dishes very innovative including the Pinatayong Manok which literally stood up.

My brother and his fiancée just came from a long trip overseas and my brother personally asked me to take them somewhere Pinoy. Mesa is the first resto I think of when it comes to delectable Pinoy dishes. The Tinapa Roll wrapped with Lettuce was a perfect appetizer, Tofu Salad is a healthy option without dreading the presence of too much leafy veggies, (well, for some... I don't dread it myself. Haha!) the Boneless Crispy Pata had a very rich "garlicky" flavor that came well together with their bestseller Laing 2 ways. Their Buco Juice was served on our table together with its shell. 😊 Their tables are huge and the cushions are comfortable making u feel like u're eating at the comforts of ur own home. 😃
I am surprised that the Mesa branch in Libis serves very good food unlike the one in Megamall. Everything we ordered tastes delicious and the price is reasonable. Food is also good for sharing. Service is average cause there are times that our order will arrive really late after following up with the server twice. But overall, we will still go back to this resto.
What I love about Mesa is that they offer Filipino foods with a twist. We really like everything we ordered. This wasn't our first and I noticed that our fave (Prawns in Salted Egg Sauce) is not consistent. The first time we tried it, it was perfect but when we got back for it again they did not get the texture and taste like the pioneering days. Still, love your own. It's always worth the try. 😉
Ordered sisig, binagoongang baboy, and laing two ways. Each dish was an elevated version of the classic. Filipino food done right. Would gladly return to this resto.
Their interiors are very sleek and modern, with some Filipino elements incorporated into the overall look. I think it perfectly captures the kind of restaurant that they are and what they offer, which is stylized Filipino food. Mesa actually started out as Lamesa Grill, where you can cook isaw and barbecue on your table, a concept similar to many Japanese and Korean buffets. Then Ayala came to them to start something more upscale - enter Mesa Filipino Moderne. If you haven't been to Mesa before, you're probably wondering what I meant by stylized Filipino food - keep reading and you'll see for yourself. ;)
We started off with the Kamias Cooler - It was slightly sour, but 100% refreshing. I don't think I've ever tried kamias before and I guess it's true what they say - don't knock it 'til you try it! The Kamias Cooler also served as a palate cleanser as the night went on.
Tofu Salad (P255)
- soft bean curd topped with century egg and shrimp
Guess which ingredient was the star of this dish? You'd probably say the shrimp, but for our group that night, it was the century egg! Overall, the different flavors and textures in this dish went together nicely.
Naimas Taste Of Home
+4.5
Love the baby squid in olive oil.👍🏻 Also ordered the boneless crispy pata. Can't wait to try their other items. Will surely come back for more. 👍🏻l
Located at the third floor of Eastwood Mall, Libis, Quezon City, this branch of Mesa had just opened recently. . Last Christmas season, our food bloggers' group had our dinner at Mesa Eastwood together with one of Mesa's owners, Mr. Eric Dee, who gave us a warm welcome and was enthusiastic to allow us to try Mesa's best sellers and most recommended dishes. Thanks, Eric!
Last Christmas season, our food bloggers' group had our dinner at Mesa Eastwood.
Here are the dishes that we had:
Drinks
-Mango Shake and Kamias Shake. I'm a mango shake lover and their mango shake is perfect. Tastes just right, fresh, not under or overripe, not too sweet nor bland. As for the kamias shake, I am not fond of eating kamias but their kamias is worth a try. Tastes sour as expected, but is actually good. It's also worth having because you seldom get to see kamias on the menu even on other Filipino restaurants.
Appetizer
-Tinapa Roll. Surprisingly, their tinapa roll did not taste salty as how I perceived a tinapa dish to be. Generous in filling with a crunchy wrap. Works well with a secret sauce recipe called sauce number 5.
-Hito Flakes on Spoon. Crispy pulled catfish with mango salad. The flakes and sour taste of the mango with some spice give a good contrast of flavors. The catfish and green mango works well as a Filipino appetizer.
Salad
-Tofu Salad. Soft bean curd topped with century egg and shrimp. Their tofu is very soft, like Japanese tofu. I love how they came up with the idea of combining tofu, shrimp, and century egg. It was really good that I managed to eat much of this.
Crispchon
Filipinos love lechon especially when the skin is crispy. Mesa's crispchon is definitely something that they can be very proud of. The piglet is six weeks old and is massaged and marinated in milk before cooked.
Crispchon is served in two ways: served with pandan crepes, wansoy, cucumber, leeks garnishes, and a choice of three sauces (Rikki's Choice, Garlic Mayo, Sweet Chili, Spicy Pork Liver, Wansoy Infused, Curry Mustard); and tossed in chili garlic.
-Crispchon (First Way). The crispy skin is sliced off then rolled into the pandan crepe with wansoy, cucumber, leeks garnishes. Top it off with your sauce of choice. My personal favorite is the spicy pork liver.
-Crispchon (Second Way). The remaining meat is then cooked in garlic. One plate is cooked in plain garlic while the other, with chili. Tastes really good and addicting for a Filipino, but I would not recommend this to those with high blood pressure.
Vegetable
-Sigarilyas. Winged beans tossed in coconut milk with shrimp. The sigarilyas tastes fresh, not much shrimp were added. Tastes good.
-Laing 2 Ways. Taro leaves, pork, shrimp paste and coconut cream topped with adobo flakes, served original and crispy. The adobo flakes are a good complement to the laing. Most laings that I have tried from other restos are quite salty so I don't get to eat much, but this one isn't. It's delicious.
Rice
-Duck Basil Fried Rice. Stir fried rice with duck flakes, chili, and basil. This dish was inspired by Eric's favorite dish at the King of Thai in San Francisco. Tastes a bit spicy but good.
Baby Squid
-Baby Squid in Olive Oil. Sauteed in olive oil and seasoned with garlic and laurel. This is my friend's favorite dish whenever we would dine at Mesa. The baby squid are soft but I find this one salty, though. Nothing to worry about the amount of oil because it's olive.
Meat
-Garlic Chicken. Chicken tossed in honey and garlic glazed. Honey garlic chicken is one of my favorite Chinese dishes that I often cook at home. I was really happy when I found out that they have it here at Mesa. Their garlic chicken's recipe is an original by the owner's grandmother. Really delicious. The crispy breading, with the taste of garlics and that sweet honey is indulging.
-Crispy Boneless Tilapia. Served with four sauces, the crispy boneless tilapia is something you could continue to munch on. Tasty and crispy as crackers, you'll be surprised on how good this one is.
-River Shrimp (Swahe) on the Rocks. I was amazed on how this was perfectly cooked. (Check out my blog for the video)
Soup
-Chicken Binakol. Chicken simmered in broth with young coconut and green papaya. Tastes good and the chicken is also well cooked.
Detailed review on my blog.
Whatever I do, when it comes to food, my palate will always search for what it is natively accustomed to. No matter what other cuisines I get to try, a big part of me will always enjoy Filipino food. I'm sure everyone around the world can relate to me when I state that good old home-grown cooking will forever be our first love when it comes to food. There are times when you tell yourself that you've grown weary of the usual food that you eat and you crave for something different like from a different cuisine. But then there are days when you crave for grandma's "sinigang", aunt's "beef caldereta" or mom's "pinakbet"; and when you finally satisfied your cravings, you feel a different kind of euphoria and nostalgia all at the same time.
One of the restaurants that's doing Filipino food right! Price is not bad for the serving size because it is good to share. Had the boneless hito, boneless crispy pata and kare kare
Spent our date night at Mesa, Eastwood Mall.
Went with this place since it's new, and personally I wanted to try Mesa. Got a thumbs up from my lady, so I gave it a try.
For that night, we had Tinapa Roll, Crispy Tilapia w/ 4 sauce, Adobo, and Tinapa Rice.
The food was good. For a glorified Filipino dining experience, it wasn't that pricy. Service was excellent. Place was unique and comfy.
P.S.
Don't ever get their Adobo. It's not worthed. You're mom's Adobe recipe is better.
