Cereal Milk. Dark Hazelnut. Kinder Bueno. When are you guys going to open up in Makati and proceed to blow everyone's mind with your Gelato? I have to sit in two hours of traffic just to go to Katipunan to put this tasty cold goop in my mouth.
Loved it! I'm especially in love with the Matcha Taho Gelato Shake, a must-try for every matcha lover. Their gelato have unique flavors too, that both kids and adults will surely love. The owners are super nice, too!
Awesome taste! Superb! I love the Kaning Tutong flavor
Love their gelato... Shakes have unique flavor and taste good.

Just had two scoops of Kinder Bueno gelato and now I'm craving for more!

Really loving their stuff!!! One of my favorites in the city!

Spectacular. Excellent flavors! Best gelato in Manila!
Unique flavors that capture the Filipino taste in every cup.
I like that you can try the flavors before ordering. Their Mangga't Suman is the best! 💗
I also like the Avocado and Blueberry Cheesecake :)
Tried Vanilla Almond and The Dark Nut.
Vanilla Almond was a little too sweet for me. The Dark Nut was very chocolatey though. Good service. Will come back.
One of the finest gelato dessert concoctions I have tried is at the Manila Creamery in UP Town Center. My friend chose two kinds of parfait – halo halo and mais con yelo, both mouth-watering and incredibly luscious! With a big blob of gelato on top. The halo halo variety is a creative mixture of black sesame seeds, roasted rice and a creamy gelato coffee. The mais con yelo tasted like a mango cheesecake with some caramel sauce drizzled on top.
So luscious! I always like gelato than the traditional ice cream because it is sturdier, smoother and creamier. At Manila Creamery, this gelato obsession went an extra mile with its yummy varieties. Worth trying!
(4.5/5) DON'T EVER PASS UP ON THIS ICE CREAM PLACE. The concept behind it is unique - taking Filipino gelato craft and making it world class and sophisticated. Went for the Mango Float parfait and can I just say, Maxi Mango can never compete. It's so tasty, the crushed Grahams blend well with the mango ice cream and slices. Will try the Halo-halo parfait next! Would give a full-five stars if they get better at maintaining cleanliness.
Manila Creamery Mango float is the BEST!
You can taste every layers of it. Starting from the mangoes, pandan cream, cookie butter caramel and especially their Mango Gelato is 😍
Even their plain gelato is good too!
My sister introduced this to me. Though I am not a big fan of gelato, I must say that I love their mango and suman variant. Price is okay. Other flavors are good, too.
Offers interesting flavors of ice cream such as Thai milk tea, Cereal Milk and Mangga at Suman. My personal favorite is their Vanilla Almond. Their ice cream is dense yet creamy and doesn't scrimp on ingredients.
A must try. Especially their roasted ice cream. Nkalimutan ko ung name. Tried their ube langka it’s also yummy. Will definitely come back here and will try their other flavors.
From start to finish, the crew did his job 100%. Gave all the information that I need about the flavors that I inquired about. Will definitely come back to uptc for my ice cream doze. The flavors are as authentic as it can get!!! 👍👍
IF ONLY THESE FLUFFS OF GENIUS LOCALLY MADE BUNDLES OF CREAMY JOY WERE OUR DIRTY ICE CREAM, id be going out of my cave eryday or like even be an ice cream vendor, who eats their own product lmao but no they're pricey and in malls haha
But honey oh honey, flavors are unique and qua-li-ty bomb af 💣💣💣
Ordered two scoops of ice creams before heading to my meeting and it did not disappoint! The tablea lava cake tasted like real tablea and had chewy cake bites while the Salted Egg Cheesecake was just the right blend of sweet, salty, and creamy. I like their flavors more than my favorites in Coldstone, Baskin, Caramia, Gelatissimo, etc. The server was very kind and courteous too!
I ordered a scoop of their salted egg cheesecake as most of the reviews here in zomato recommended it and a scoop of their cereal milk gelato. Both were actually good although I didn't taste the "cheesecake" in the salted egg cheesecake. I liked the cereal milk better. Premium gelato like the salted egg cheesecake is priced at 120 for single scoop and 220 for double scoop whereas their standard flavors like the cereal milk is priced at 100 per scoop and 180 for double scoop. I plan to try their malted milk and half baked madagascar next time.
Ice cream. Gelato. Name it, it's my comfort food. And they have one of a kind flavours for my unique taste buds.
After the meaty lunch we had, boyfie and I headed straight to this gelato parlor. I had 2 scoops of premium flavors salted egg cheesecake and quatro letches cake, and the boyfriend ordered matcha and strawberry crunch.
Every spoonful of creamy and flavourful treat felt like heaven. Who would imagine that salted egg can be a flavor for gelato? Sounds odd, right? But yes, I enjoyed it the most of all flavors. The saltiness blends well with the sweetness of the cream. Quatro leches, strawberry crunch and matcha were also mouthwatering.
Price per scoop was right. Service was good. The place is a bit small near the cinema, but they have tables and chairs for customers.
Will definitely come back for more delightful flavours they can offer.
We actually passed by this small store at U.P. Town Center & decided to try it. I chose the Mangga’t Suman & Salted Egg Cheesecake topped with almonds & it was uniquely good! The contrast of the salted egg cheesecake blended well with the fruity sweetness of the mango suman, making it enjoyable to eat without that feeling of being overwhelmed with sweetness. The additional toppings added the needed crunch for this creamy delight. Price was reasonably right & the place was small but had few seats. Definitely gonna come back for more!
Yes, it's a bit expensive (at least on a student budget hahaha). But really everything I've tried from here is great. I'd say this is my favorite ice cream parlor for two reasons. The gelato has a mouthfeel that makes it feel more luxurious than almost anything else out there. At the same time, the base doesn't seem to detract from any of the flavors from the different variants.
If you try the Davao Chocolate, for example, you'll definitely feel a strong hit of chocolate without it feeling like too much. I think they use Malagos chocolate because the flavor comes through so strongly and clearly that it'd be hard to confuse it with anything else once you know what it tastes like. Same goes even for their more subtle flavors like the Tinutong na Kanin; the flavors come through as just as clearly if not as strongly, and you'll definitely be able to taste the "Tinutong na Kanin" part. Those are my two favorites btw

My boyfriend and I enjoyed Papa Diddi's Ice Cream so much that I've long wanted to try this other artisanal brand. Paul was sick at the time though :( and I was on my own, so I decided to treat myself, by myself (which happens only once in a blue moon for a kuripot like me). Hence, P180 for 1 scoop of Tinutong na Kanin, and 1 scoop of Salted Egg.
THIS IS AMAZING. Seriously. I hope to try more of these soon (from any brand, as long as it's artisanal). Because the flavors are so good. So different. And so real. Tinutong na kanin even has little pinipig-like toppings to really bring out that roasted, flavor. And even if it's gelato, I swear you can almost taste chewiness in every spoonful. My mother, who loves tutong and condensed milk, would love a pint of this.
And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, I tried the salted egg scoop. I love salted egg and salted egg-flavored stuff, so I can safely say that this gelato is perfect. As in, angels-coming-down-and-singing perfect. I was so sad that Paul couldn't be there but SORRY NOT SORRY OMG. The syrup captures the taste of the yolk perfectly, and the white base seems plain but actually has a hint of salted egg similar to the egg whites.
I'm crazy over this brand and I can't wait for my next excuse to indulge in this. I would willingly skimp on a lunch just to have this for merienda. It's that. Good.
I’ve been a fan of Manila Creamery ever since they’ve been joining weekend food fairs. They’ve come a long way since then. The flavors are unique - my favorite are the Mangga’t Suman and Davao Dark Chocolate. For the mangga’t suman gelato, you can choose if you want to have latik added to it. It was only recently that I got to visit their store at UP Town Center. There are seats available but can only accommodate a small number of people.
I am from paranaque but i keep going back to this place for their tinutong na kanin flavored ice cream...
Just can't get enough...
Have other localized flavors ie. Suman, salted egg, etc..
Must try!!!
You can find Manila Creamery by the entrance to the UP Town Center cinemas. If you’re looking for rich, delicious gelato infused with uniquely Filipino flavors, this is the place to go. Among the flavors I enjoyed are the Salted Egg Cheesecake (a sweet and salty bit of heaven), Tinutong na Kanin (so spot on it brings back fond memories of my childhood) Suman at Mangga (interesting texture), and Davao Chocolate (if you like dark chocolate you’ll love this). The staff were very friendly and helpful, and they made us feel right at home. At P180-220 for two scoops, the price can seem intimidating but I think it’s well worth it. Overall it was a great Pinoy experience and I will definitely go back for more!

I gave this place a solid 5 because they may not have a very extensive flavors but the quality is there! And it's gelato not the typical ice cream which means less sugar, so less guilt for me. I ordered blueberry cheesecake and leche flan, I'm obsessed with the blueberry cheesecake ice cream! The leche flan ice cream was just alright. The service was amazing and the staff are very friendly.
This is our favorite Gelato place. Must-try are their blueberry cheesecake and leche flan ice cream. Go for their double scoop to get a 20 peso discount (₱180).
Tried the Cereal Milk and Salted Egg Cheesecake ice cream. Did not expect it to taste so good!!! You can really taste the salted egg. It mixed well with graham and vanilla ice cream (I think?) The cereal milk, too! Loooove it! Must go back for the Tutong flavor lol 😂 they have limited seats though. 🤔
Been to Manila Creamery a couple of times already and it always satisfies my sweet tooth. The first time I was here, I got their salted egg cheesecake gelato and cereal milk gelato. Both were sooo yummy! You'll really appreciate the flavors kasi hindi tinipid sa ingredients. This time I ordered Matcha Taho. Ang refreshing ng taste! Who would have thought that matcha and taho go well together? Yung taho gave the drink a unique texture that melts in your mouth. May bits din na green tea flavored na parang gelatin. I recommend getting this drink if you need a quick matcha fix! :)
As a self-proclaimed ice cream connoisseur, it goes without saying that Manila Creamery's Milk Tea and Cereal Milk flavors are to die for! They tasted so authentic that it was really as if I was drinking my favorite boba milk tea, or munching on a bowl of lucky charms for breakfast. Way too good to pass up on!
Rating: Must-Try!
My Recommendation: Try their ice-cream flavors! Some flavors stand our more, particularly the Salted-Egg Cheesecake, Mangga't Suman, Davao Chocolate, and Tinutong na Kanin.
Review:
Food (5.0) - this has been my go-to dessert place in UP Town Center. The flavors of their ice cream is really unique and tasty! I have yet to try all the flavors which is why I keep coming back. I haven't tried their milkshakes or gelato though.
Service (5.0) - service crew are very friendly and accommodating. Feel free to ask them questions!
Place (4.5) - located near the cinemas, the place is a bit small but it is clean. Service water is available which is great. It is easy to see their menu from outside for a quick peek, but one thing I would like to improve though is the distinction between 'Regular' and 'Premium' flavors, as last time I visited, they only have a small yellow dot to signify if a flavor is premium, which is kind of hard to see.
Value-for-money (5.0) - at around P100 for the Single Scoop, I'd say that's just the right price for the unique flavors you get to try. The premium flavors are P120 compared to the regular flavors. Shakes and Coffee are a bit on the expensive side, but I usually just go for ice-cream and that alone is worth it for me.
I always have a hard time ordering here because of their extensive selection where everything sounds really yummy - and they are. I've tried. The tinutong na kanin is a standout.
You can also try their coffee, which comes in Asian flavors (matcha, black sesame). Can be improved especially in terms of temperature - the hot can be hotter and the iced can be colder. But all things considered, a great stop after a movie in UP Town.
Great flavors! I like that they try to incorporate Filipino snacks and desserts into their gelato ❤️ It's a bit pricey at P100/P120 for a single scoop but... it's a really good (and worth it) spend!!! I personally love Vanilla Almond and Leche Flan!

I believe the Thai Milk Tea hype isn't over yet! 💁
After our lunch at Fat Daddy's, we decided to drop by Manila Creamery -- since my sister was craving for their signature Mangga's Suman gelato. I tried their Thai Milk Tea Gelato (Php 100 - Single Scoop), and it tastes like the real thing! 😍 It's so good and creamy, I wish I got it in double scoops. 😋 It has just the right amount of sweetness. It was perfect for me! 💜

First Review: April 2017 - 5/5
After our sumptuous lunch at Mama Lou's, we walked around a bit, then went to Manila Creamery for dessert. I've seen so many posts about Manila Creamery on looloo, and I have been wanting to try out their Matcha Taho Gelato Shake for a while now! 😍 I won't rate each item we ordered separately, as we all LOVED what we ordered! 👌💜
✔ MATCHA TAHO GELATO SHAKE (Php 180)
I LOVED IT. I had a lot of matcha drinks this week, and I can say that this is one for the books. 💚 It's different from my usual matcha drink with the incorporated taho in it. But like most of the reviews I've read, I must agree that IT WORKS! It does not only "work", but it has provided a whole new dimension to an otherwise usual matcha drink. The taho is a bit firmer that the ones manong sell in the streets, but it still provided a good texture to the drink. The drink was topped with some matcha jelly, which were a bit bland. But not to worry, as the matcha drink itself has enough personality which makes the matcha lover in me giddy with delight. 😍 They also serve it with two green tea Pocky sticks, for an extra crunch.
✔ MANGGA AT SUMAN GELATO (Php 100 - Single Scoop) for my sister
The gelato had a creamy base with suman's texture and taste, and swirls of sweet mangoes that gave this flavor an oomph. To complete your suman eating experience, they drizzle a latik syrup on top of the scoop of gelato. My sister loved every spoonful of this Filipino dessert inspired gelato. 👌
✔ RICOTTA ORANGE (Php 100 - Single Scoop) for my mom
I was surprised that my mom chose this, because she usually goes for the chocolate flavored desserts. I guess she's tired of that flavor already. 🙊 Anyway, I was not able to taste it, but according to my sister, at first, you'll taste the creaminess of the gelato coupled with saltiness from the ricotta cheese. Once it reaches your throat, the kick of citrus flavor from the orange will then be revealed. That's depth of flavor right there! 🍦 My mom finished it in around 5 minutes, so it must be good. 🙊
The service was very good, and I think two of the staff present are the owners. 🙈 They were super courteous and nice! They have a very limited seating capacity though, as they only have 3 tables of 4 seats each, and a bar area for around 5 people. Add to that, there were diners a while ago who wouldn't leave their seats even if they are already done eating and they saw people waiting to be seated. 😦 It wasn't the fault of the restaurant, though. I think it's basic courtesy to give your seat to customers who just arrived, right? 😭 Despite this, I am still super glad that we came here for dessert. Another must try dessert for matcha lovers! 😍💚
#MadeTheManilaWay
Good gelato is very creamy and the flavors are more intense than that of an ice cream. The consistency is also very dense that you don't need a lot of scoops to be satiated. But that would be lovely thing to do at Manila Creamery because all the flavors are just that good, even the Thai milk tea flavor that I don't care for in its real version. I was lucky enough to be around during its soft opening that the attendant let me taste most of the flavors they had on display (note: it was the opening so you can't really do that now). But calorie and tummy-wise, a scoop or two is enough to make my tastebuds happy. Do take note that their prices are higher than Amici's Creamery and other local gelato shops but the unique and classic flavors are worth it.
Went crazy over their salted egg cheesecake! Also got to try mangga at suman and loved it. Both were rich in flavor. Can't wait to go back to try their other flavors.

Was a little disappointed with the tinutong flavor since we just came from Bicol and totally devoured the tinutong na bigas from 1st colonial.
But the salted egg cheesecake did not disappoint!
And the pistachio was really sincerely pistachio filled.
Their scoop feels a little too small but at P120, pwede na rin.
And the servers happily answered all our questions and let us taste all the flavors.
I'm buying the ricotta orange next time.
Thank you @FoodSocietyPH and the boyfriend for the GCs!!! :)
There are already a lot of gelato/ice cream places in the Metro but Manila Creamery is that one place you shouldn't miss. They have a lot of interesting, unique and very Pinoy flavors to choose from. My favorite ice cream place is Farmacy but MC is a pretty good place to satisfy your cravings too! If only this one's near me, I would visit this place as much as I can (Dear, MC. Why you have to be so far?!?!)
My favorites are the Davao Chocolate and Pistachio. The Manga't Suman's pretty good too. What I like most about their ice cream is that it's not too sweet, you can really taste the flavor, and that it doesn't melt too fast unlike the other ice creams I've tried.
They also have milkshakes available here. I got to try the Matcha Milkshake and it was MATCHARAP! I like taho and matcha is lyf, combine them together and you get one really happy ruth! :) It may sound weird and off at first but surprisingly, it's not!! It worked and I enjoyed every thing about it. Plus, it's not too sweet as well! :)
PS: if you're like me who likes just the waffle cone, get an extra for just 10 pesos. Their waffle cones are really good! ;)
4 stars because too far. :(
I love how they infuse Filipino flavors that are of top quality. Ambience of their space in UP Town Center mixes modern and Filipino so perfectly and I love how they use washable spoons! My personal favorites are the blueberry cheesecake and cereal milk plus their black cone is really good too. It's on a the pricier side but you cannot deny the quality and love put into every batch. Would definitely come back.
Manila Creamery had a pop up booth a few months back in Makati and got to try their Tinutong na Bigas! It was great with that toasted giniling after taste. Who knew it translated well in ice cream form. Absolute delight, highly recommended for old timers. Will definitely remind them of the good ol' times of yesteryears. Highly recommended.

Two things i like about manila creamery: their cereal milk and mangga at suman gelato!
Had the cereal milk during my last visit. The gelato is creamy and sweet, with bits of cereal (and cookies?) mixed into it. Reminds me of breakfast!
The mangga and suman is my favourite! The coconut milk gelato with bits of mango and suman is a treat everytime!
If you know gelato in Italy, the authentic ones come in round bins you have to peep into. The overly high, overly colorful gelatos are tourist baits that are high because they whip the cream, filling them with air, and are colored and flavored artificially. One good way of telling if gelato is authentic is if the pistachio flavor is earthy green, not neon green or the banana is grey, not bright yellow. It means the flavors and colors are not artificial. Which is what Manila Creamery has. I promise you, it's the same as in Italy, just add whipped cream on top of that pistachio from the densely filled round bin, and I'm back in Rome. For this, I give them 5 stars.
When your sorbetes gets a makeover 💕. In my opinion, one should definitely try their salted caramel. Reminded me of Merry Moo's Salted Caramel but has more burnt sugary taste which is totally yummier. Also tried the blueberry cheesecake and darn, it is also yummy. Try it! It will definitely make you a proud Pinoy. 😁
I learned from a friend that they have a matcha taho gelato shake. Of course being a matcha lover, I headed straight to UP Town Center for this baby. It's located on the same floor as the cinema. The place is small. I don't think 7-10 people can all fit in there. I find the price of the gelato a bit steep. My friend orderer 2 scoops only and I think it costed her around 220. The price is above average. They have unique flavors to offer. The price of their milkshakes is reasonable. I got my matcha taho for around 180 only. I like it! But I don't recommend it to people who does not like matcha that much. The flavor is too strong or can be overwhelming. The gelato gives the shake a creamy taste and texture. The taho is kinda weird with matcha but I still like it. So if you love matcha, you should try it.
I WON P1,000 GC FROM MANILA CREAMERY AND FOOD SOCIETY!!!
I invited my fellow foodie reviewers to enjoy these GCs with me. We arranged to meet at the gelato place on a Sunday afternoon.
We had a hard time choosing from the wide variety of flavors available! But we ended up trying out the following:
🍳 Salted Egg Cheesecake
Cheesecake gelato with salted egg caramel and graham crackers.
🍌 Turon
Saba and langka gelato with caramelized lumpia wrapper.
🌰Roasted Milk and Pili
Roasted milk gelato with pili nuts.
🍼 Cereal Milk
Cereal milk gelato with cornflake cookies
💛Mangga & Suman
Sticky rice gelato with mangoes and Visayan latik.
💚Pistachio
Typical pistachio gelato that you can get from good gelato shops. The taste of the pistachio was legit 😁
Okay, if you'll notice, I didn't elaborate on the taste of each of the flavors because THEY WERE ALL SO GOOD. My favorites were their turon and their roasted milk and pili because these are uniquely Filipino. Plus, the taste of the ingredients were really highlighted. My least favorite was their mangga and suman. It was also delicious but the other flavors stood out more. Well, because the other flavors tasted new to me.
💜Ube Salted Egg Shake P180
I loved this. I never knew that a sweet and salty milkshake will taste this great! It's also topped with puto and sapin-sapin, so it's kinda a food and drink in one 😋 The only flaw in this drink was that the sapin-sapin tasted old and sour. But no probs, it didn't ruin the taste of the drink anyway.
🍵Matcha Taho Shake P180
I loved this as well! At first I loved the ube shake more, since we tried to share this shake by getting spoons of it instead of sipping it, and also because I found the matcha too strong and bitter. However, upon stirring and sipping the drink, everything changed. This drink is so heavenly! The taho went well with the matcha, since the taho was able to balance the bitterness of the matcha.
The place has a few seats inside and outside the store for you to enjoy your desserts, if you don't want to bring them with you while shopping.
I wasn't able to try the other flavors, but just seeing them on the display already made me want to try them out as well. I have a huge feeling that these will also taste amazingly, so it kinda doesn't matter which one I pick next, does it? So 'til the next time, Manila Creamery! 😊
Again, thank you for the GCs FOOD SOCIETY! 😘 Will arrange a food crawl with you guys soon!
Tried their Manga and Suman Gelato and it was surprisingly good. They have other good flavors but I think the one I bought is the best. They need to open other branches though. Not many would go to traffic congested UP/Ateneo area.
Manila Creamery is THE gelato place for Filipinos. Owners Jason Go and Paolo Reyes learned the craft of making a gelato in Bolognia, Italy and combined local ingredients and flavors to create everyday healthy to eat gelatos. They turned Filipino favorites such as Mangga’t Suman and Ube’t Langka to another dish which each of us can enjoy.

Affordable Price 👍👍👍

Customer service 👍👍👍
Manila Creamery has been a fixture in many weekend markets, so I was able to try their gelatos previously. These are made so well, achieving a fine texture despite the many ingredients they include in the mix. I absolutely enjoyed their black sesame, kinder bueno, and blueberry cheesecake flavors. I like how the gelato makes a statement on your palate without going overboard. They achieve a great balance of flavors and showing restraint on the sweetness.
During this visit, I chose the mangga't suman. I liked the homage to a Filipino classic. I thought the "suman" portion was texurally interesting, somewhat similar to sago. I do wish they bring in more flavors, just to make choosing even more difficult than it already is. Btw, it kind of melts pretty quickly or is that just me?
It has been a habit of mine to get my matcha fix whenever I eat out, so we decided to try Manila Creamery to grab some matcha goodies. We ordered their premium Matcha Taho Gelato shake, hot Latik latte, and hot Matcha latte.
Their Matcha Taho Gelato Shake was to die for. The fusion of the the gelato and taho made the shake's consistency really thick and creamy, I never thought those two would work well together. The taste was well-balanced, the matcha was not too bitter and the gelato was not too sweet. The matcha Pocky and jelly toppings were a plus! I would definitely recommend this to Matcha lovers out there.
Their latik latte didn't impress me that much. Each sip reminded me of eating biko, I would rather have that as a merienda than a supplement to my drink. The latik flavor really stood out so you better try the drink if you're fond of these flavors.
Their matcha latte was good with the prefect mix of matcha and milk, just the way I like it.
I would definitely get their Matcha Taho Gelato shake again if given then chance. I've yet to try their gelatos as well.
Jason Go and Paolo Reyes of Manila Creamery offers unique and delicious selection of gelato. It is unique because they have gelato flavor like Mangga at Suman, Ube Langka and Davao Dark Chocolate.
The only Filipino inspired Gelato Company. #ProudPinoy
Ube Langka– Langka gelato with ube halaya.
Davao Chocolate– Davao dark chocolate gelato.
Truffle Mascarpone– Mascarpone gelato with white truffle and Himalayan pink salt.
Kinder Bueno– Hazelnut gelato with milk chocolate.
Blueberry Cheesecake– Cheesecake gelato with blueberry jam and graham dust.
Ube
Go Mango– Mango gelato with white chocolate covered poprocks.
Mangga at Suman– Sticky rice gelato with mangoes and Visayan latik.
My favorite gelato from Manila Creamery is the Davao Chocolate and Go Mango. :)
Manila Creamery's gelato is very creamy! I'm so excited to try their turon gelato.. Exciting! :)
If you want gelato inspired by local flavors, visit Manila Creamery now. #GoLocal #FilipinoInspiredGelato
Manila Creamery is one of my top gelato picks and I've been stalking them in weekend markets and Glorietta for the longest time. I love the creativity of the owners when it comes to their flavors. They're so experimental and adventurous! They do not settle for just the usual flavors. Mangga't Suman, Mango Pomelo, Bacio, Guinumis, Tutong na Kanin are some of the unusual flavors that they definitely nailed! They have this magical wand that captures and locks in the flavors - from the real deal food to a gelato form, it's amazing how they transform them into thick, creamy gelato! They also know how to put texture into heir gelato so you will not be left with just the plain ice cream.
I've had the pleasure of trying Manila Creamery's gelato before at the Gourmand Market in BGC or at another market, but to experience their newly opened flagship store is really something else.
A total of sixteen flavors were on display. A few of the flavors were Filipino inspired, like the Pili Nut and Mangga at Suman. Nice. Reminds me of my schoolmate Ian Carandang's Sebastian artisanal gelato.
Anyway we got to sample some flavors and picked the following:
Salted Egg Cheesecake - the base is the cheesecake ice cream and the salted egg Caramel is the syrup on top. OMG. As my friend Cla Palisoc aptly suggested, ask for more salted egg sauce. This is hands down one of the best salted egg dessert interpretations I've ever had. Try this with the salted egg sauce if you're gonna sample it. Otherwise, take my word for it that you have to try this baby, Graham Crackers and all to build on the authentic cheesecake flavor. 5/5
Thai Milk Tea - pretty good. Captures the Thai Milk Tea taste. Could stand to be more brewed tea taste or less sweet but this would now be more subjective than a major criticism. A pretty good 4/5.
Something Pili Nut - this was just okay for me. 3/5
Cereal Milk - popular in some gelato places, this captures the taste of the milk remaining after you've eaten the frosted flakes. Good stuff! 4/5
P100 for small gelato and P120 for small special gelato. To each his own so try the other flavors so you pick what you want. But dayyyyyyyyymmmm, that salted egg cheesecake is something else.
Their Gelato Milkshakes are also interesting. My first pic is a must try for everyone...
UBE SALTED EGG MILKSHAKE:
Earth shattering may not aptly describe this bad boy. Ube jam, ube and salted caramel flavored gelato mixture and that aforementioned salted egg caramel sauce topped whipped cream. There's an ube puto and kakanin added on the side of the whipped cream, too. Though one of the owners recommended we drink and nibble the food on the side, we eventually enjoyed the drink better once we mixed the whipped cream and salted caramel sauce, then we enjoyed the salted egg taste with the ube aftertaste. At P180 this is one expensive drink but the quality and taste are there plus other milkshakes of restos I've tried actually could be pricier than this. Rating 5/5
Latik Latte - P150. Hot or cold, this drink has creaminess, slight sweetness to its Latik aftertaste. Better for me we tried it hot. 4/5
And thanks Reich Torio for the invite two Saturdays ago (though I had personal matters to attend to) and introducing or reacquainting me with this tiangge / Gourmand Market gem's first store (I went the following day, Nov 6, their official opening day). I had a bit of a time to find it as I haven't been here since the 2nd tower opened last year. Wow, UP Town is quite a long and zig-zagging lifestyle mall now. So if you're looking for Manila Creamery just look for the cinemas.

After dinner, we craved for dessert and we were satisfied. 😘 Manila creamery is a one week old gelato parlor that serves creamy gelato made the manila way (their own tagline) Surely with a taste of manila with their own version of mangga at suman served with latik sauce, turon, ube langka, and tinutong na kanin( why not?). They also have gelato shakes, and coffee. Staff were very friendly even if they have a lot of customers. 😍
My 3 friends got their Matcha Taho, while I had Ube Salted Egg 😉 #teamubefortoday
Ube + Salted Egg is surprisingly delicious. Its also kinda heavy as it is topped by "puto" . On the first sip, there's an obvious ube taste, as you go along, salted egg syrup will surprise you. The whip cream balances the sweetness. This is one unique pair of dessert that I highly recommend.
Pro: foodies will enjoy this place. Concept of this place, offers surprises on your tastebuds. Everything is new! I recall on reading and asking, masarap kaya?! With a bit of excitement.
Cons: We waited for more than 30 mins. For our orders. Hmmm I was enjoying the convo with friends yet, just noticed that it took so long. There are even customers that were served first. Buti busog ako! Hehe one of the owners, apologizes & give us some gift cards for freebie on next visit.
Its appreciated and will give them a chance... planning for Turon Gelato Milkshake next time 😊
I was one of the selected few who got dibs on Manila Creamery before they officially open their doors to the public. I wasn't expecting that I'd get an invite, i am merely a consumer who happens to love their frozen treats. I stumbled upon them by accident one day. I was walking around Glorietta and was trying to avoid the pesky Citi sales person when i saw them. Got a scoop of Mangga at Suman and the rest was history. I make it a point to swing by Gourmand and UPTC every chance i get.
Digressions aside.
MNL Creamery is located at the new wing of UPTC, third floor near the cinema. It is hard to miss as their spot has the brightest facade, even the signage is eye-catching. We were greeted by one of the owners, Jason Go. He briefly discussed how they came up with their one of a kind flavors, where they source the ingredients and what made them pick UPTC as their first store location.
Their flagship store offers a wide array of gelato flavors - the crowd favorite (Mangga at Suman), the classics (Pistachio) and the innovative ones (Turon gelato perhaps?). Apart from their frozen treats, they also offer handcrafted beverage such as coffee and gelatoshakes.
These are some of the flavors we tried. And before i forget, they use actual dessert spoons for patrons for taste tests. This is perfect as the disposable ones are not eco-friendly.
These are some of the gelato variants we tried:
¶ Salted Egg Cheesecake. I intentionally placed this on top as this is the best gelato flavor in my book. Apart from the taste, i have the utmost respect for the brilliant minds who churned this flavor. The amount of expertise and restraint to come up with the flavor combination is admirable. For those who hasn't read my previous review, here goes.
They use a cheesecake gelato base mixed with a lovely concoction of organic salted egg yolk and caramel and some crushed grahams.
¶ Thai Milk Tea. This is milk tea in gelato form. They even got the color figured out, this variants sports a light brown-ish hue. I taste Jasmine Tea with a milky flavor.
¶ Turon. They made the quintessential Pinoy merienda into a decadent gelato flavor. Man, this is one of those flavors that would make you wonder... how did they make this taste exactly like turon?
¶ Ube Langka. This tastes like Christmas for some reason. This flavor is unbelievably light and not overly sweet.
¶ Truffle Mascarpone. I didn't try this as i was to preoccupied withe the Turon flavor. Clarissa P and Ruth D said it was good. Please note that Ruth is not a fan of truffle.
¶ Roasted Milk and Pili. Another innovative flavor combination. I cant fully describe how this flavor tastes like, all i know is that my tastebuds gave their nod of approval.
Milkshakes
¶ Matcha Taho. I was skeptical when i saw this on their menu. Don't get me wrong, i like matcha and taho but i ain't sure what it would taste like when you mix em together. All my scepticism went out the window after the first sip. The flavor combination is heavenly.
¶ Ube Salted Egg. This is hands down the best milkshake I've ever had in my brief existence in the Milky Way galaxy. If i were to compare this to a poem, this is Blake x Dickinson x Keats x Frost x Neruda x Ackerman. All of the great poets that ever lived combined into one. The ube flavor is not too heavy and not too sweet. You get to taste the salted egg flavor towards the end. Talk about a sweet beginning and a wonderful ending.
Coffee
¶ Matcha Latte. I am a matcha purist and my cup didn't disappoint. This has the perfect proportions of matcha and milk.
¶ Latik Latte. Coffee infused with Visayan latik. This is another innovative handcrafted beverage courtesy of the brilliant minds of MNL Creamery. Creamy coffee with a subtle flavor from latik.
MNL Creamery is not just another gelato shop. What makes them stand out is their innovative approach on familiar Pinoy flavors. Their flavors are one of a kind and can definitely compete in the international market.
Thank you, Jason and Paolo for having us.
I was recently invited to try out Manila Creamery at UP Town Center before they officially opened this October. We tried the different flavors they offered that night. Founded by Jason Go and Paolo Reyes, they learned the art of making Gelato in Italy.
Here are the flavors that we tried at Manila Creamery:
-Mangga and Suman. Sticky rice gelato with mangoes and Visayan latik. I'm a sucker for ripe mangoes and I love trying out everything that would go with it. I was able to try out mangoes with sticky rice but it's my first time to try suman-flavored gelato. I'm amazed that it's really good and that you can distinguish the suman and mangoes. This is Italian gelato with a taste of authentic Filipino dessert favorite.
-Davao Chocolate. Davao dark chocolate gelato. Using Malagos chocolate from Davao, dark-chocolate lovers would love the authentic slightly-bitter-yet-indulging taste of dark chocolate.
-Kinder Bueno. Hazelnut gelato with milk chocolate. One bite and I was like, "OMG! KINDER BUENOOOOO!!!" They use imported hazelnut to achieve that taste of Kinder Bueno.
-Truffle Mascarpone. Mascarpone gelato with white truffle and Himalayan pink salt. For the classy palate. Truffle!
-Ube Langka. Langka gelato with ube halaya. I'm not much of a fan of langka but this combination was really good and delightful.
-Go Mango. Mango gelato with white chocolate covered poprocks. Going with the Pokemon Go craze, they came up with Go Mango which reminds you of Pikachu. I love how it tastes of fresh ripe mangoes.
-Ube. Tastes exactly like ube halaya. Yum!
-Blueberry Cheesecake. Cheesecake gelato with blueberry jam and graham dust. I love the sweet taste of the blueberries and cheesecake.
Yay for gelato! If you are wondering about the difference between gelato and ice cream, well, here are the differences: (1) Gelato is low in fat (4-8%) with more milk, while ice cream is (>10%) with more cream; (2) Gelato has less air (20%) slow churning so it's dense (packed with flavor), while ice cream has more air (60%) fast churning so it's fluffy; (3) Gelato is served at -13 soft structure, while ice cream is served at -18 hard structure; and my favorite part, (4) Gelato has less calories (less guilt, yay).
At about the same night when we reviewed Shawarma Bros., our group also got a taste of the sweet flavors of the Manila Creamery Co., an up and coming gelato brand in UP Town Center. According to the owners, they studied the art of making gelato in a specialty school in Italy. The owners told us the difference between ice cream and gelato. According to their poster:
They say you can't buy happiness, but they also say you can buy ice cream and it is basically the same thing. But what if the ice cream is gelato? Then happiness is more like nirvana. Yasss? Earlier this week I was invited to try some of MNL Creamery's gelato flavors at the Cinema floor of U.P. Town Center. It was gloomy that night and rained so hard, but who can say no to a gelato taste fest and a trip to the ninth fold of heaven?
