I kept searching for a good place of relaxation whenever I know I need some time for myself. Earlier this day, I was struggling because I really don’t know where to go on a tight budget but expensive needs. I badly need coffee, a real one. But then I also want to be on a quiet place to have a read or for “self” time. I went to the Twenty One Pilot’s concert Sunday night, and the effect of PCD(Post Concert Depression) kicks me so bad(until this day, yes) that I don’t have a clue of what I really want. So I searched and searched and searched for the perfect place. But as I was scrolling through Spot Ph, Booky, Looloo, and Coconuts Manila, I suddenly felt the urge to go somewhere quite far from where I’m from. I end up heading north.
I’ve read articles about best coffee places and one of the most common, like The Curator, Yardstick, and Toby’s Estate, is this place called Tweedle Book Cafe(TBC), and as what I know, “tweedle” is something related to music or instruments. So what came to my mind is a coffee place like Satchmi. TBC is somewhere near Tomas Morato and Timog Ave. in Quezon City. And guess what, I’ve never been there before. Never. Ever. And it was a bit far from MRT which is the only access I know going to Quezon City. According to Google Map, GMA-Kamuning MRT station is 1.2 kilometers away from TBC… That means I walked 1.2kM. That was so impressive of me. But I loved walking especially when the clouds cover enough of the sun to have a beautiful walk in a place where there’s less pollution and people, but more trees.
The place where TBC is located is a neighborhood, like nobody will ever think that there’s some kind of paradise along the street. I personally think it was a house and renovated to be a coffee place, thanks to the owners! The very first thing that caught my attention when I got myself inside is the bookshelf. It’s so lovely and the terrific urge to grab all the books is inevitable. The music inside the store made it more of a nirvana. They play a lot of alternative+indie music which is always the perfect genre partnered with coffee. The beautiful juxtaposition of books showcasing their marvelous spines excites me to an unbelievable extent that made me smile and reach for my phone to call a friend because I can’t hold the feeling inside anymore. I sat on the corner–bookshelf on my back, white wall on my side. I, then, ordered my beverage and pastry choice which are Iced Cafe Latte, and Macchiato cake. Coffee-coffee combination is the new trend… for me.
The counter is really nice. The front looks like the mini cabinets where you look for card catalogs in the library.
I grabbed Iced latte because that’s the first thing I saw and the most common orders of people who gave reviews, and it was good they said. Well, I’m not expecting much from TBC because it was not considered as a third wave coffee shop in Quezon City, but it was good enough and has reasonable price for coffee junkies.
I did not think twice for choosing Macchiato cake because the caffeine weakens the PCD effect, so I need another dose of coffee, but this time, in a cake. It was not disappointing though, kinda felt like the coffee was poured on a dough, then baked. It was not that flavorful but it’s surely smooth, and creamy.
Before, during and after my snack, I explore the bookshelf to find more books because the library-like vibe of the place consoled my inner spirit. What I also love about the store is there are new books like, Stupid is Forever-More, Wonder, Why We Broke Up, and stuff. There’s also a complete set of The Twilight Saga, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Sophie Kinsella. I wasn’t sure about the set of Harry Potter and 50 Shades of Grey because I only saw a book of each, but maybe it was just misplaced or something.
Service isn’t bad and rest room is clean, which most restaurants fail to have. I do hope they maintain the service, cleanliness, serenity, and light atmosphere of their coffee place because those factors start to get rare in most rising business.
Did I already mention the platform 9 3/4? I thought of bumping the wall, but I realize I’m already 17 and I haven’t received a single letter from Hogwarts, so maybe I should accept that I’m a Muggleblood and should not dare to enter the platform. Oh, and they serve Butterbeer! The excitement never stops!
I was the only costumer when I got there. I guess Tweedle Book Cafe is calling all the people who enjoy coffee with books. The library aura experienced instinctively will never leave you as long as you're enjoying yourself. Let your thoughts drown in the world of literature and caffeine because a place for bibliophile and caffeine junkies exist.
