One of the best Filipino restaurants along the Maginhawa stretch and within Quezon City. Crispy pata and kare-kare taste great, so with their desserts. Service was fast and the food servers were unexpectedly warm and welcoming. Chef JC Lara approached us to make sure that we're OK and that our expectations were met. Seriously, the food, the impeccable service and the ambience of the restaurant exceeded our expectations, especially that of my mom who is difficult to please. We will surely be back. I will recommend this restaurant to friends and relatives.

Great Filipino food! The price is a little expensive, but the food is delicious and the servings are huge! The interiors are classic / old-school Filipino, which makes you feel at home. Service is also excellent.

The food here is good! We ordered gising gising, lechon kawali, and sinigang na hipon. Super sarap ng sinigang na hipon. Mukhasim sa sobrang asim! Super sarap. Yung lechon kawali maunti lang pero natutunaw yung taba sa dila. The sauce is also very good. Their gising gising has a good amount of spicy kick! Will be back to try their other food!

This is an overdue review so I'll write a concise rating for their ambience, food and staff. :)

Ambience 4/5 I love the Filipino vibe in their interiors. It feels like the place needs a little revamping, however.
Food 4/5 This is a Filipino restaurant so I ordered my favorite Filipino food, Sinigang and Beef Caldereta. Food is good and enough for sharing! I also had mango shake, which was so-so.

Ordered Kare-kare, Bagnet Sisig, Tinapa Rolls, Pancit Canton (not photographed) and for dessert, Suman at Mangga (not photographed).

The food was excellently prepared! No dish missed the mark in terms of quality, presentation and serving size. Our order was more than enough for our party of 7, even had food left over for take home.

Quirky vintage elements were integrated into the restaurants interior design which gave the place a homey feel.

Parking is shared with other nearby restaurants and building tenants but we didnt have any problem finding a spot considering we ate on a Sunday during lunch rush.

This restaurant takes Filipino cuisine to the next level. They make it their own without straying away from being Filipino. Great food, excellent homey ambiance, and friendly service crew. We will definitely go back here.

There's definitely no place like home. Not being biased but my mom definitely cooks the best tasting "ulam" of every kind- from Adobo, Sinigang, Pinirito and a lot more. Most of her passion she learned from the previous generation who are more into organic and natural cooking. This goes to show that all the best cuisines were learned from every home inherited from their parents and grandparents and so on. Hapag Heritage speaks for its name that they too offer traditional and home grown dishes that are well loved by every Filipino palates.

It was a humid afternoon when we had lunch and we ordered some of their best sellers. The restaurant had a pleasant cozy ambiance surrounded by handmade crafts and drawings and fitted with wooden furniture. It was like your family's traditional old fashioned home and by the way, the drawings were actually made by the kids whom they support by selling their piece whoever would like to buy.

As for the food, we had their best seller Kare-Kareng Baka that can be bought either regular or family size. It immediately became my favorite because it was full packed with vegetables in creamy peanut sauce along with the assortment of ox tripe, beef knuckles and beef brisket. Not to mention the shrimp paste that for me is already an "ulam". The Kare Kare is just so scrumptiously filling I could not stop eating more rice. And oh I almost forgot, they serve the Bagoong Rice and Tinapa Rice that really compliments the viands. I liked the Bagoong Rice better because their bagoong is really good.

Aside from the Kare Kareng Baka, we also dived in to their Sinigang na Bangus sa Bayabas and chowed down on the Bagnet Vigan excitingly. The Sinigang's thick broth and creamy bangus meat is the bomb. The hearty Bagnet Vigan came from Ilocos so you'd really notice the authentic flavor in itself. Make sure you add more rice because these are really really delicious.

They also offered the Tinapa Roll. It is one of their appetizers though but you can also have this as your ulam dipped in their special sauce. The Tinapa flakes inside were quite a small portion mixed with vermicelli noodles but it was already tasty and not overpowering. I'd like to make some of this soon if time permits.

Lastly a local dessert called Suman was what we had to end our meal. It was drenched in creamy coconut sauce and topped with mango slices. Pretty heavy but delicious. The sweetness of the mango brings out the flavor more in the sauce.

I loved this place honestly and overall, I enjoyed my stay and definitely coming back. Kudos!

Nothing beats like authentic Filipino comfort food. There is always a tendency for us to look for our favorites whenever we drop by at one. One of the best places I ended up that serves this type of food was at Hapag Heritage Cuisine.

There was a homey feel with the place. With the dimmed lighting, wall decors, and interior designs, this gives you a local Pinoy vibe that comes with the dining experience. The staff was very accommodating as well.

The food was really good as well. Here are some of my recommendations:

Tinapa Rice (250.00 php)
Can go with just plain rice but this would be stepping it up. The smoky flavor of tinapa all over then topped with chopped salted egg, tomatoes, and spring onions. A great addition to any meal.

Kare-kare (560.00 php)
Cooked with ox tripe, knuckle, and brisket, swimming on authentic peanut sauce and veggies. The bagoong included was a perfect pair as well. Meat was tender and the whole dish was very flavorful. If you love Kare-kare, you definitely need to try this out.

Bagnet Vigan (350.00)
The classic double deep fried pork of the north brought down to Maginhawa for us to enjoy. Very crispy skin and the dipping sauce included was great as well.

Sinigang na Bangus sa Bayabas (360.00 php)
The sourness of the guava broth is not too much but still quite enjoyable.

Suman (130.00 php)
Comes with slices of mango with gata all over. A classic favorite. The sweetness of the mango really compliments the suman and the gata is a great insert to the dish.

All in all, it was a great experience dining in Hapag and I'll definitely be going back here.

If you are looking for authentic Filipino dishes in the north, then head on to Hapag and try their delicious meals. Serving traditional flavors passed on from one generation to another, Hapag is definitely a must-try in the Maginhawa strip. They have generous servings that are usually good for 3-5 people; a perfect option for a group of friends or the whole family.

My favorite dish from their menu would definitely be the Kare-kare -- it has a tasty sauce that doesn't even need an additional bagoong to have a flavor. I also liked their Vigan Bagnet, with its crispy skin and tender meat. Finish off your meal with their Suman sa Gata, which is somehow reminiscent of Thailand's Mango Sticky Rice.

Ratings:
Food: A (great selection and undeniably delicious)
Price: A- (reasonably priced)
Ambiance: A (rustic and homey)
Service: B (friendly service)
Location: B (it's just along Maginhawa and can be easily reached by public transport)

Verdict: Will come back for the Kare-kare and Suman sa Gata. Highly recommended for big groups who love Filipino dishes.

There's nothing more comforting than Filipino food. Always rich in flavor, each bite never fails to make me feel like at home. And at Hapag Heritage Cuisine, I didn't feel just at home, I felt like I had a gastronomical trip around the Philippines. . Hello, Hapag Heritage Cuisine. . This Filipino restaurant tucked inside the foodie haven Teachers Village was one of the stops of Zomato x Nestle Food Crawl.

Hey hey! Recipes which have been passed down through generations that have been tweaked to the modern taste of Filipinos, this is what Hapag Heritage Cuisine has to offer.

Located at the very famous street in Quezon City, Maginhawa, this place is a must try for its delicious Filipino dishes like their really big bowl of Kare-Kare (P560) made with real nuts, and Bagnet Vigan (P350) which was really crunchy but to a point that the meat is still tender. Perfect pair with either the Bagoong Rice (P290) or Tinapa Rice (P250).

Hapag has modern dishes as well like the Bangus Bayabas Sinigang (P360) and Tinapa Roll (P210).

Other than the good food, Hapag has a good heart as they support an orphanage at Montalban, Rizal. Kudos to the owner/s of this place!

Missing your grandma’s cooking these past few days? Well you’re in luck if you pass by the famous foodie street in Quezon City, Maginhawa. Hapag Heritage Cuisine is perfect to everyone craving for some Filipino dish.

Hapag Heritage Cuisine serves traditional Filipino dishes based on the original recipe of the grandmother of the owners. Her recipe is still being continued by them. Every dish was made with pure love, and it’s pretty much evident once you taste it. They only use traditional Filipino ingredients, which are all natural.

In case you drop by, make sure to order their best-sellers are Kare-Kare and Bagnet Vigan, both of which go really well with their Tinapa Rice or Bagoong Rice. They also presented one-of-a-kind dish called Tinapa Rolls, which was really unique but tastes amazing. If you’re craving for something with a soup, then Bangus Bayabas is the right fit for you. For desserts, they created Suman Gata which was perfect especially when theu added a Nestle twist for their collaboration. Prices for these dishes range 130 pesos to 560 pesos. Even though a price for a Kare Kare dish amounts to 560, I’m sure you won’t regret once you munch on it.

The ambiance of Hapag was pretty homey. Space could’ve been bigger and more ambient light would be better. But I’m pretty comfortable during the dining experience. One thing that you can admire is that they use an all-OPM playlist!

Overall, Hapag is a must-visit to all foodies! It was a complete Filipino dining experience.

Organic and delicious with hefty servings!

Hapag Heritage Cuisine offers Filipino dishes with recipes that are made from the ground up. Servings are usually good for 3 to 5 people and economically priced; a good choice for a group of friends or the family. Their Kare-kare is by far the best I've tried at a restaurant, and did I love every spoonful of it. The Bangus Sinigang in guava broth is also amazing, that it's a palate refresher and has that healthy mix to it. The staff are friendly and the comfort room is clean and well-accessorized.

For those hoping not to be rushed to the hospital, try their Vigan Bagnet in tandem with the Kare-kare for an ultimate gastronomical experience.

The tinapa roll was the first of its kind I've tried, and it was okay. As for the desert, Suman sa Gata was really good. You'd be proud of the roots you have as Filipinos once you dine here.

The restaurant is a homey, old school, nostalgic restaurant which serves their loved homemade filipino dishes. What's great about them is they make everything from scratch, no msg and food enhancement so everything is authentic and top quality. They wanted to serve and bring back traditional and native food since right now what we mostly see are infused or modern filipino dishes and share to the youth and even bring back memories to our lolos and lolas.

Hapag Heritage Cuisine is definitely a must try. Filipino families will enjoy their dining experience in this homey restaurant. The service provided is A+ with the staffs hospitality and attentiveness to the customers' needs. This is a casual dining but the service is hotel-like. Plus another good thing is the parking space in front of the restaurant. All in all my dining experience is wonderful!

You should try their tinapa rice and hipon sa taba ng talangka, it's the best!

We've been here 4 times already. You should try their bagnet, it's really crispy and delicious. It's our favourite dish so far. Yes their food is just ordinary but them not using msg is a plus for us. And the proximity to our place is really convenient. It says here they only accept cash but they been accepting credit cards since we first ate there. We love the homey feel and their staff is really attentive. We'll definitely come back again and again.

Couple of weeks ago, I found myself in Hapag Heritage Cuisine in Maginhawa, trying out their new menu. Recently opened last September 28 2016, it is fairly new amongst the strip of restaurants in the infamous Maginhawa but because of my strong love (and craving) for traditional and authentic homemade Filipino food, I was really keen to try and taste what they are offering.

I was invited by lifestyle blogger Alyssa Tuangco to try the new dishes of Hapag Heritage. Headed by Chef Julio, the restaurant wants to continue sharing and serving their grandmother’s recipe.

We started with Kilawin na Hipon (Php260.00) for the appetizer. It was good!
Manok ng Hapag (Php470.00) is their version of roasted chicken.
Their Sisiron Rice (Php260.00) and Tinapa Rice (Php240.00) is well-seasoned. Jampacked with scrambled eggs, tomatoes and spring onions as you can see.
The classic Kare-Kare (Php530.00) is every family would go for. Perfect for plain rice.
Beef Morcon (Php520.00) is perfect for the meat lovers out there.
Pansit Canton (Php280.00) is a bit saucy, but still good.
Their Binagoongang Baboy sa Gata (Php380.00) is my grand winner! The meat is tender and the sauce is so flavorful.
Sinigang na Bangus sa Bayabas (Php330.00) is my 1st runner up. The sourness is really natural. Guava is a good source of Vitamin C. This dish is healthy and so yummy, I can eat this everyday. Perfect for this rainy season!
Ginisang Hipon sa Taba ng Talangka (Php480.00) is my 2nd runner-up. This dish is delicious, but sinful. Haha. It complements well with their plain rice.
Ripe Mango Smoothie (Php120.00) is always refreshing.
Hapag Heritage’s adventure is not complete without any dessert. So let’s start with Pandan Macapuno Cheesecake (Php140.00) is delightfully sweet.
Ensaymaditas with Chorizo Bits (Php70.00) and Ensaymaditas with Tinapa Flakes (Php70.00) is something you wouldn’t want to miss.
While writing this, it reminds me of Little Manila, a Filipino food stall in Vietnam. Scrumptious dish like what Hapag Heritage is serving deserves a spotlight in the international cuisine.
To experience authentic Filipino dish, visit Hapag Heritage.

Place/Ambiance: 10/10
Their interior will give you a home-y feeling when you're inside. It is spacious and it is not overcrowded.

Since Hapag Heritage Cuisine has neighboring restaurants, the parking space is a bit small to cater to those customers who have brought their cars.

Hapag Heritage Cuisine satisfied Travel Eat Pinas' palate with their dishes that brought us back in time when our Grandmother served us their treasured recipes. Hapag's chef brought out the taste of the local ingredients on each cuisine that was served to us. Aside from that, Hapag's dishes have no enhancer, preservative, and MSG. The price is reasonable considering the serving of each cuisine and the ambiance is also relaxing and perfect for family bonding and catching up with friends.

MUST-TRY DISHES

Kilawin Na Hipon- Juicy and crunchy shrimps with a sweet and sour sauce.

Binagoongang Baboy- Tender meat in a creamy, spicy and a bit salty bagoong sauce.

Inihaw Na Tuna Belly- Perfectly seasoned grilled tuna drizzled with sweet sauce.

Ensaymaldita- Sweet and fluffy bread with sweet and creamy sauce topped with chorizo or salted fish.

Hapag is a Filipino word we hardly use anymore. It does have old origins but it simply connotes table. In this case though, dining table. This restaurant embraces Filipino in its core and is definitely an asset in the Maginhawa food strip.

This sponsored invite welcomed us first with their amazing rendition of Langka in smoothie form. The fruit was vividly present in every sip, accompanied by fresh milk and fine ice. It did boost my appetite.

The owners together with partner chef was both present to introduce to us their Filipino offerings. 11 dishes were placed in our Hapag and around 10 of us scrambled to try and spot our own favorites later on.

What did I like most? I love rice and they had this Tinapa filled fried rice. The aroma was evident as well as its striking taste. This surprisingly complemented with sauce based dishes like their Kare Kare and Kalderetang Baka sa Gata. Go ahead and explore these on your visit.

Another must includes guilty filled Ginisang Hipon sa Taba ng Talangka. They did not scrimped on crab fat as it lingers in your mouth for awhile. The shrimps were cooked just right as its shells fall apart right away.

Crispy Pata was hefty for its price tag of only Php 595. The meat is fried yes but still tender with touches of crispiness. The sauces that accompanies it assist in bringing out new flavors for this popular piece.

For dessert, Pandan Cheesecake. This green dessert has a bold sweetness from pandan matched well with salty cheese. The texture is creamy and not too dense.

The B and I are currently digging the Filipino Cuisine so when we met again the following week, he took me to another Filipino restaurant called Hapag. It is also located along Sikatuna village right in front of Empire Cafe :) I love the simple yet relaxing vibes of the restaurant. The ceiling is high enough to make the entire place look maaliwalas. They also have this flat TV screen showing slides of their menus. (Which is again, very very helpful!)
So we opted to get 2 main dishes.
Sinigang na Salmon sa Miso - 380php
Kalderetang Baka sa Gata - (I can’t remember the price)
I didn’t expect the Kaldereta to be a bit spicy but it’s very tolerable, given that I don’t prefer spicy food. I was still able to enjoy it. The meat was very tender according to the B :) The serving was actually more than enough for 2 people. I really enjoyed the Sinigang sa Miso. It’s a dish that you don’t always get to eat. They used Salmon instead of the usual Bangus. I am honestly drooling right now while I write this post. ha ha. The kick of flavours were just right and of course the good amount of Mustasa gave a balancing taste of bitter and sour. Sarap higupin ng mainit ng sabaw!
