Being stuck at home for months may not be the ideal vacation of many. But it's not all that bad considering many brands are launching its delivery service and mouthwatering stay-at-home menu. And one new player in the food delivery service is The Figaro Group's Figaro and Tien Ma's.
Hello, Tien Ma's!
Tien Ma is a place a love going back to when I just want good affordable food. It never disappoints. It's not spectacular but everything on their menu, so far, is good. Their xiao long bao is one of the best! I like ordering their tofu with century egg, just hope they can put pork floss on top. Their porkchop was tender but was missing flavor. Overall, really good spot if you don't want to be disappointed. Plus, they have zomato gold promo!
Oh before I forget Tien Ma’s literary means Mother Tien or Mama Tien. The restaurant was established by the couple and it became known and it was called Mama Tien. Its dish is basically the home cook meal of a typical Taiwanese house. Then it was sought by Figaro to have a partnership with, then later on it was fully acquired by Figaro and became part of the growing number of food establishment owned by the company.
Xiao Long Bao? Well, Tien Ma’s got on their list of menu and what’s great with them is that they got some interesting selection. Lately, this dimsum is making a buzz and I’m not sure when it begun to be a hit but one thing I know, it’s yummy. Their version of Xiao Long Bao got the Original, with Black Mushroom with Truffle Oil and with Cheese, which I really liked..

Great food but servings a bit small for the price compared to other restaurants in the area. The pkace is also clean and nice. Over all recommended restaurant
Tien Ma is my family’s go-to place whenever we want a quick and affordable Taiwanese meal in QC. We usually order the Xiao Long Bao, Three Cup Chicken and Taiwanese Fried Rice. Parking is a bit difficult though!
So sulit thank you zomato🙂
We availed of the Zomato gold 1+1. Their mechanics should be that the 1+1 are of the same price. If not, a third food can be chosen and the one with the middle price is the free.
Tien Ma has always been a special place for me and my partner. You get the value for your money with all those good food. Our staples always include salt and pepper squid, taiwan fried rice and beef broccoli.
We were always served well, accommodating staffs.
The only challenging part is the parking as they have only 3 slots.
Will always come back for more.
Sending my best regards.
Been meaning to visit here for a long time. We visited the place during dinner time on a weekday so there were only a few people so staff was excellent.
We ordered:
Salted Egg Prawn - 4/5 since it wasn't too salty and it's different to my usual taste palette
Stir Fried Beef with Broccoli - 2/5 the beef wasn't that good, but the "sarsa" was made well, but it wasn't that extraordinary. Seems overpriced with its taste.
Salt & Pepper Squid - 3/5, it's like your usual calamares but not as crispy.
Taiwan Fried Rice - 3/5, nothing too extraordinary
Mango Sago - 5/5, you can really tell that they used a fresh fruit here. if you don't mind a little bit of sweetness, this is for you. I love the freshness of the mango fruit.
Coffee Jelly - 5/5, the best coffee jelly i've ever tasted on a budget! the jelly wasn't too bitter and you can really taste the coffee after you bite into it. The milk was complementary with the jelly. I'd order this again when i come back.
For me, the best place to have xiao long bao.. Not too pricey unlike in other restaurants. And their shrimp sotanghon and fried intestines are really good as well. They also offer 1+1 on food if you're a zomato gold member! =)
The only downside is their parking, since they only have 2 slots i think.
100% value for money! Hands down! You should go here if you want to try local Chinese food. The staff is also friendly and accommodating. 5/5.
This place is very nice! The food is great! Thumbs up for the crew great customer service. I love the noodles here and veggies! Great to try!👍
This place is our go-to resto whever we visit banawe area since we tried this a few years back. Now they have zomato gold its even worth the visit. The food was great, we usually order their xiao long bao, sweet and sour pork, pork with onion, hot prawn salad, fried intestine... etc... Most of their food you will order every time you visit but a handful is worth trying just once. All in all its 4 stars, even with out zomato gold.
Whenever craving for xiao long bao, this restaurant is the place to be. It tastes very similar to high end restaurants' xiao long bao, but at a cheaper price. Their other dishes tastes good too, like the kung pao chicken and taro with squash! But I'm not a fan of their raddish cake, since I can't really taste the flavor.
I ate here three times and it never failed me! We ordered Xiao Long Bao, Xiao Long Bao assorted, Dumplings and Hakaw. These are good for two and thanks to Zomato Gold we only paid 500 pesos. If you are looking for a good Taiwanese restaurant for a cheap price then this is the place to be.
I also tried Taiwan style fried rice and fish fillet in black bean sauce which is so good that you just want to chill after eating. The serving is good for 3-4 people if you are not such a fan of rice.
I will keep on coming back! :)
Food took a while to arrive. I will always be a fan of Chinese food. Their Xiao Long Bao is still one of the best in the Philippines. Tian Ma fried rice was good. The salted fish fried rice was a bit bland.
Tien ma is a generally dependable place for a casual meal, and a pretty decent showing of Taiwanese food. We had their Xiao long bao, which are pretty okay, best eaten as quickly as possible of course. We also had their salted egg shrimp, steamed fish fillet, honey lemon chicken, and the pork with tokwa. Of all these I liked the pork with tokwa the best, as it was nice and flavorful. The salted egg shrimp and the lemon chicken didn't really do it for me, as both tasted kind of bland. The fish fillet was the usual that you'd expect, so it's perfectly fine. I'm a fan of the rice they use here as they don't use the usual Jasmine or medium grain rice here, they use a short grain rice that cooks quite nicely and never gets clumped up.
We love tien ma specially their steam lapulapu fillet also pork kutchay dumplings. We also ordered hot and sour soup. Stirfry beef tendon leeks. And stirfry tito. Using our zomato gold we got one dish free.
The price is reasonable and taste authentic. I like their xiao long bao, if you are looking for affordable yet delicious xiao long bao, you need to try this.
The servers were also attentive to our needs, for the place has the vibes of Chinese restaurants and can also accommodate big groups.
Will go back here when I crave for Xiao Long Bao in Banawe.
One of our fave chinese restos in banawe. The resto is clean and staff are nice. The food is worth every penny. We love the three cups chicken and beef noodles, actually almost everything. Will always come back for more.
Affordable and delicious. Generous servings too. Took me back to Taiwan! Superb customer service too! Try their prawn salad, oyster cake, and xia long bao. :)
The food is really good. Their Taiwanese fried rice, dumplings, and fish w black bean sauce are a must-try. Servings are really really small though. Their milk tea is pretty good also, it’s not like the basic ones in milk tea places.
So happy that Tien Ma is now part of Zomato Gold! ❤
This is one of our go to places for good Xiao Long Bao and dumplings(boiled)! The salted egg custard bun is also a favorite ❤👌🏻
We came for lunch and the place is spacious and cool enough for a busy day as father's day.
We ordered hot and sour soup (9/10 it's not just the taste but the value for money for how much they serve is 👌), beef hofan (8/10 didn't expect much from this but it's a must try if you want something new), pan fried pork and shrimp dumplings (8.8/10 the sauce it came with makes it really SPECIAL), taiwan style fried rice (7/10 it doesn't have a strong taste but it complements the main dishes), three cup chicken (8/10 this one has a taste of its own), salt and pepper spareribs (4/10 it was served like it was over cooked. It's hard like a rock we thought it was all bones.), steamed lapu lapu in soy sauce (8.5/10 f r e s h).
The staff were nice and tried to help whenever they were asked for assistance :)
Salted egg prawn, the best! First time to taste xiao long bao too and it tasted good. The service was fast. I will never ever forget the salted egg prawn!
There’s no ambiance and the entire restaurant smells of stinky tofu but the restaurant won me over with its corteous staff and good food. Winners were the xiao long bao, fried intestines, laksa, and fried rice. Though the place was full on a holiday, service was relatively fast and efficient. I can recommed Tien Ma for a cheap fix of Taiwanese cuisine.
Hindi rin ako binibigo ni Tien Ma kasi malapit lang sya samin at madali lang umorder. Pwede pick up at sulit yung Lunch Pack nila sa 135. Panalo yung Salt and Pepper Spareribs, Sweet and Sour Fish, Three Cup Chicken at Taiwan Fried Rice.
Affordable Taiwanese cuisine at its finest. Food here is very affordable P200 average, though servings are good enough for two people. Sweet and sour fish fillet is very good and the Xiao long bao. Parking can be a bit of a challenge though during peak hours. They also have a selection of crab dishes.
Xiao long bao is ❤ thereby Tien Ma is ❤. That's just common sense. Now i just have to type unnecessary words to reach the 140 characters yey.

Absolutely love the Xiao Long Paos(especially the Truffle oil infused), the Fried Rice and the Salt and Pepper Squid!!!, parking is definitely hard though.
Tien Ma's
I. Place 4/5: The place is clean. The music is very relaxing. Their wallpaper describes the facts about Taiwan. The only problem is the parking spot. It only accomodates 4 cars.
II. Customer service 5/5 : The servers are polite and easy to call. When you take out your unfinsihed food they do it in front of you and thats a big plus for me.
III. Food 4.5/5 :
We ordered:
Xiao long bao original php 200
Beef tendon php 219
Garlic brocoli php 199
Fish fillet with black bean sauce php 225
The waiting time for the food is around 20mins.
(It may vary at different times)
My favorite among our order is the fish fillet with black bean sauce. Its very tender and delicious. I highly recommend it.
I.Food-
we ordered:
Xiao Long Bao 3.5/5
Spring roll shanghai - 3/5
Sweet and sour fish 3/5
Beef tenderloin 2.5/5
Price + food quality = 3.5/5
Price compared to quantity = 3/5
II. Ambiance. 3.7/5
The place is Very neat and clean. I noticed at the Kitchen area that the Chefs that are wrapping the beef to the wrapper of Xiao Long Bao (sorry I dont know what it is called) are not using any gloves. They only use their bare hands. Please use gloves next time.
III. Customer service :
EXCELLENT 4/5
Cons: Not enough parking space. It is only good for 4 cars.
Comfort food for the win! 🙌🏻
🍆 Eggplant with Special Sauce: fried eggplant, ground meat, loads of garlic and a lovely sweet and spicy soy sauce mix. My personal favorite! Though it could be a bit spicier.
🦑 Salt and Pepper Squid: this just hit the spot! Fried squid rings and tentacles with lots of spring onions, garlic and chili! 🌶 Tastes even better if you squirt some calamansi (lime) over it to give a sour contrast to its salty and spicy flavor profile.
🐷 Sweet and Sour Pork: a must in every Chinese restaurant! This one’s more sweet than sour, which I didn’t mind, and the Pork was crunchy. Came with onions and pineapples 🍍 for added flavor.
🙊 Deep Fried Stinky Tofu: stayed miiiiles away from this one! Not really a fan because of the smell, honestly, but my aunt enjoyed it so it should be good if you’re brave enough to try it?
•••
Overall, loved the food (except the tofu, still can’t get over the smell 😣) and how affordable the dishes were! There were many more stuff that I wanted to try, like their Kung Pao shrimp, but I’ll save that for another trip! ❤️
A cheap affordable price for the best quality xiao long bao. Xiao long bao has the best taste and broth is flavorful. The xiao long bao is made through a glass wall which gives the place a very great ambiance.
Very affordable Taiwanese cuisine. A good serving for 2 of hot prawn salad @P199 only, the size of prawn, freshness and flavors were not compromised by the cheap price, really value for money. One of the restaurants I always go to when I'm craving for Taiwanese food.
Some dishes are average in taste but the xiao long bao and beef noodle dishes are to die for. Chilled taho is also good. Will be coming and coming back for more.
Value for money. Neat interiors. I love their food, and the noodles were flavorful. Comfort Taiwanese food at its finest here in Manila. Will definitely come back!
My boyfriend was craving for Xiao Long Bao for quite some time and the only place we were aware (and sure of) is far from our area so we decided to try Tien Ma’s based on his ‘research.’ Needless to say, we liked the Xiao Long Baos and the other food we have tried. 😌 we can’t over it that the next day, we decided to eat there again since we were with my younger sister. She also liked the food!
Service-wise, the staff were attentive and helpful. I spilled my drink during our first visit and they immediately cleaned the area and replaced my drink. The guards were also helpful with our parking.
We will definitely come back here to try other food choices and bring our families next time! 👍
You will really get the value of your money with their noodles!!! The soup is so good and their toppings are GENEROUS. I love noodles, and I've been in a lot of Chinese/Taiwanese restaurants, so when I say they give generous toppings, I mean they will give you HUGE chunks of tender beef with their noodles. The photos won't be able to show the topping I'm raving about because they are so big that they sank to the bottom of the bowl. 😂
Their XLB is delicious too! I love their cheese xlb but nothing beats the original flavor. However, I was expecting the XLB to have more soup😞
The manager and staff Tien Ma's are also very corteous and friendly to their customers. I would like to commend the manager who was very attentive and hands-on. Overall, it was a good experience. I'm excited to try their other mains next time. 😊
Tien ma's is one of our family's favorite Taiwanese restaurants. We love their taiwan fried rice, xiaolongpao and stinky tofu dishes. However, I'm not sure if it's just me, but after Figaro bought rights to the establishment, I can't help but feel the taste is different. The rice is less flavorful than I remembered, and the stinky tofu isn't as stinky as the usual. I still love this place though.
I like their wanton mami! And the xiao long bao! Surely i will return to Tien Ma to dine!
Pls management please make a lunch menu or bento 🍱 or rice topping set for single/individual eater! Hahaha like me. ❤️❤️❤️
This Taiwanese resto is famous for their Xiao Long Bao & is a hit among my relatives and friends. Usually, we would pop in only to have an order of the XLB and go and that's exactly what we did a couple of days ago. This time, though, we tried out the assorted kind (P240) instead of just the regular set (P200) for a change. The order came with 3 pcs of cheese XLB, 3 pcs of Black Mushroom with Truffle Oil XLB, and 2 regular ones. We loved the Black Mushroom the best! Made me regret why I'd never tried it before. The truffle oil flavor was evident yet wasn't overwhelming and it blended well with the broth. We also enjoyed the cheese flavored XLB. However, I noticed that instead of the usual 9 we only received 8 pcs/order and the dumplings were a little smaller than I was used to. Maybe they had to adjust to keep prices the same. Nonetheless, will keep coming back to Tien Ma's for my XLB fix!
Friendly staff, good Tainwanese food, fresh and very tasty. Some are big portions that can be shared by 3-4pax like the soup,Tofu¢ury egg,Tainan fried chicken, sotanghon with suahe ...etc. it's worth every penny, me and my family enjoy dining at Tien ma and we will keep coming back for more.
If you are looking for very affordable ciao long bao and other Taiwanese cuisine, visit Tien Ma. This is a no frills restaurant that offers really quality food.
Dined here Oct. 20, 2017.
What I love:
1. Tofu with century egg, perfect balance with the sauce they used.
2. Seafood fried noodles tastes great, I finished off the whole plate by myself.
3. Steamed lapu lapu in soy sauce: they used real lapu lapu not the yucky dory (some restos would claim its lapu lapu but in fact they substituted dory)
4. Good service.
5. Ambiance
I'm not a fan of:
1. Their Xiao long "soup" bao is a bit dry, not much soup inside. Although it taste very good.
2. Hot and sour soup, I think they used too much vinegar.
3. Hakaw: the skin was too thick. It should be paper thin and delicate. i can hardly taste the filling.
Overall rating: slightly above average
Would I go back? Yes, only when I happen to be in the Banawe area. I wouldn't go out of my way to deliberately go to Banawe to eat here.
Food is good and with relatively cheap cost. Parking is limited so better come here on lean hours. Service could be faster. Aircon is not that cold so choose seats near the aircon. Would definitely come back.
Value for money, especially ordering the Hot prawn salad and Xiao long bao. The fried siomai is presented uniquely with the fried batter putting them together. Salted egg shrimp is also a good try and while at it take home or finish with a salted egg custard for desert. The Mantou can either be steamed or fried, with a condensed milk upon request, that go along with it. Hakaw is also a good choice. Though you have to ask for the free tea to have it served and parking can be cumbersome if full house, the place is a venue to return to with friends and family.
The resto is quite clean and their servers were fast and polite, the guard was also nice enough to find us a decent parking space because the ones provided in front of the resto are all filled up. Parking can be a challenge though since they have like 4 parking slots only, if I remember correctly, so you may have to park on the streets like in many other restaurants in the area.
One thing that was remiss of the whole dining experience was the incomplete table setting - there were no spices, soup spoons, and tissues on the table so everything has to be asked from the servers. If you're one who likes to maintain minimal contact with the people around you while you enjoy your food then this thing would irritate you, otherwise, it's a trivial matter. Also, their chili sauce is not much of a chili sauce because it lacks spiciness but it has a strong garlicky taste so all is good though in the future I hope they can provide a chili sauce that is spicy and garlicky at the same time.
We ordered their Original Xiao Long Bao, Taiwanese Style Beef Noodle Soul, and Three Cup Chicken.
Xiao Long Bao. It was my first foray into the world of Xiao Long Bao and I can pretty much say that it was a good experience and one I'm likely to try again. The soup in the Xiao Long Bao is tasty enough and if you add some of your mixed dipping sauce to the soup it will taste better. The wrap of the dimsum itself is sturdy to withstand the chopsticks (unlike that of Fat Fook's Ciao Long Bao) but still soft to the taste. Tien Ma offers Xiao Long Bao cooked in different styles so there are few you can try.
Taiwanese Style Beef Noodles. Well, I was expecting a noodle soup with a heavy beed flavor but I was disappointed. This noodle soup was just ordinary in my opinion, and you can get a noodle soup which tastes exactly the same at a much lower price that Tien Ma's from Hen Lin. Although I must say, they don't skimp on the beef which is a plus.
Three Cup Chicken. This we also liked. It's somewhat sticky in texture but the chicken was soft and sweet to the taste though a bit bony. Definitely worth ordering. Our server said that this is one of their bestsellers and rightly so.
Tasty foods from apetizer to dessert. Servers are friendly and fast. Additional points for their clean restroom. Will definitely come back to try their other menu. 👍👍👍
Turning to some good Taiwanese comfort food...
Banawe is more than just car washes and a place to find vehicle parts. It is known as a haven of good Chinese/Taiwanese restaurants and milk teas at different price points. We revisited the area to check another restaurant off our list.
We visited Tien Ma-- a long standing Taiwanese restaurant along Eastwood which has recently opened a couple more branches. The name means Mother Tien, an ode to the matriarch who is responsible for their heirloom recipes. These recipes have made their way from a province in Taiwan, all the way to the Philippines for our enjoyment.
This place is a typical Banawe institution-- no frills, simple, hole-in-the-wall type restaurant serving hot food fast! We went here on a Sunday night and they were in no shortage of hungry customers. Despite the frenetic pace of the dining area, the staff welcomed us warmly and continued providing consistent service the entire time.
We started with the pork xlb-- not the best in the metro but it was okay. I like mine very soupy and I was looking for that in their xlb. DTF is still my number one in terms of XLB. We also shared their three cup chicken and the garlic polonchay-- we both appreciated these dishes. The three cup chicken was really tasty and I do recommend this dish. I tried the minced pork rice; the pork mixture was served on the side. I thought it tasted okay, I still prefer any kind of fried rice over this order.
For dessert, my SO was curious about the panfried sesame pancake. Frankly, I didn't like this dish; it didn't taste like a dessert. It's a deep fried pancake with a mung bean center. I wish we went for the buchi or the mango sago. These are safer, tried and tested bets for dessert.
Our visit had hits and misses but I'm okay to come back for their other dishes. I really liked their service and that counts for a lot in my book...
Tien Ma is a restaurant offering Taiwanese cuisine which is known for its Xiao Long Bao. If you are familiar with Kao-Chi, you could also say that it replaced the previous Kao-Chi restaurant. With that said, our favorite order here is their Xiaolong Pao (Php 200.00 for 9 pcs. of Xiaolong Pao). Its taste is comparable to Lugang Cafe’s Xiao Long Bao but its price is a lot cheaper. The only visible difference is that Tien Ma’s wrapper is thicker. But I don’t find it a problem because it helps me not to break my Xiao Long Bao. For those of you who are not familiar with Xiao Long Bao, it’s like a dumpling with soup inside. Fancy right?
Authentic Taiwanese Food. The interior is very spacious and simple good for family gathering.. the quality food for an affordable price. The server is friendly and nice. will definitely come back.
I celebrated my birthday here! Good delish food. Lalo na ang parang adobo nila na manok, di ko lang nakunan ng pic 😞 👍🏼 sa price naman sakto lang di naman over. Good ambiance. Will visit here again. 💕
You enter a sizeable restaurant with tables spaced evenly around the area, giving a clean, simple look.
Fried dumplings (4.5/5) are served flat, so you can poke around the dish like it's some gastric puzzle.
Xiao Long Bao (4.5/5) comes in three flavors, all delicious and bringing their own strengths to your palate. Cheese, Mushroom Truffle, and Classic. Trifecta.
Salted Egg Prawns (4/5) could use some spiciness. No presence of curry leaves and chili -- a format I'm accustomed to.
Hot and Sour Soup (3/5) was not my cup of tea. Speaking of tea, delicious tea (served hot) is available for free.
It's a crazy dimsum party in your mouth with every visit to Tien Ma. Get the century egg too, while you're at it.
This is for their Makati Branch
Disclaimer: No photos as my caveman instincts took over as i was really starving during our visit
Tien Ma is a newcomer in the Makati Avenue Area. The only joint that featured Taiwanese Cuisine. I picked Tien Ma due to two reasons - hours of operation and the only cuisine that my lola likes.
There is not much to say about the interiors. It aint bad, it is common. Nothing fancy as the upscale restaurants in BGC.
The server is friendly and nice but doesn't have any idea of the food they offer. I asked a question about their Mantao and she looked at me as if i was speaking Swahili.
Here's what we ordered:
Three Cup Chicken. Grams liked this a lot. She was raving about how tender the chicken is and the wonderful mixture of flavors.
Taiwanese Fried Rice. This is mediocre in my opinion as i don't taste anything special about it. Think of this as any other fried rice.
Spring Rolls. Another mediocre dish. I've had better spring rolls. Grams liked this though, this is probably a biased opinion as she likes "lumpiang shanghai" a lot.
Salted Egg Prawns. This is the winning dish for me. The shrimp is peeled, y'all!!! I dont need to get my hands dirty. The salted egg sauce is rich and very flavorful. The chef cooked the shrimp well, the texture is perfect!
See you soon, Tien Ma!
Service was good. Food arrived within 15 minutes. Xiao long bao was good but nothing special. All other dishes I tried were good except for the deep fried intestine. A bit salty and smells bad lol. Maybe it's just not for me. Overall I had a great time here. I'll be back if ever I had Chinese food cravings.
I have never tasted xiao long bao so my friend decided to bring me to this place. Tien Ma's is a Taiwanese restaurant that serves affordable xiao long bao with accommodating staff. With just 200 pesos, you can buy 9 xiao long baos. Because of this, my friends and I go to this place just for xiao long bao. Surprisingly we can devour 36 of these small bags of goodness! And just recently, Tien Ma's innovated their xiao long baos with 2 new flavors namely, cheese and mushroom with truffle oil. Words cannot express how I love this innovation.
I am not a fan of Taiwanese, neither Chinese cuisine. But Tien Ma got my full attention. It's a place where you can try quality food for an affordable price.
We tried the original xiao long bao, Lion's head hot pot, stir fried beef and their taiwan fried rice. Their xiao long bao is a must try, better than what I've tasted before. While everything else tasted fair, nothing special. But these food satisfied our hunger so much, and mind you, we were only two. We ate like kings!
Great food at value prices. The best part about their food is it's not too salty or too sour or too oily (like most Chinese restos), I can actually taste the ingredients. I usually order the shrimp fried rice, seafood tofu hotpot, and xiao long bao. The food tastes authentic, reminds me of the food in Hong Kong.
Xiao Long Bao captured our attention that made us try Tien Ma's. We were immediately delighted with its interiors they kept it contemporary, clean with unnecessary decors, and there's a showcase kitchen.
Of course we had to sample steamed XLB which is one of the best sellers according to their staff, it is packed with flavour and really good not to mention with its price tag definitely a must try here. Another dish that I truly enjoyed is Hot Prawn Salad though I find the candy sprinkles unnecessary. Their White Chicken is just so-so.
As for their side dishes the Szechuan Style Pickled Vegetable is not to miss, there's a spice kick in it that elevates the dish. Tofu with Century Eggs is another dish that we sampled and the sauce is just divine.
Service wise most of the staff were attentive, knows their products, and full of enthusiasm. Price wise I think it is value for money.
Authentic taiwanese food. Good value for money. Awesome place and interiors for family weekend gathering. Fast service by staff. Foods served hot and awesome fresh tasting. Excellent chinese dishes
9pcs xiao long bao for P200 is definitely worth the price but it needs a little improvement on the wrapper. The hot prawn salad though is weird with candy sprinkles haha. Nevertheless, we loved the stinky tofu, porkchop rice, and seafood pot. Overall, all 6 of us had our tummies full with just a total amount of P1600 worth of good food. 😋
We wanted to try their Xiao Long Bao to see if they have the "it" taste that'll satisfy our palate.
📌 Xiao Long Bao
It's fine. Fresh. Tasty.
📌 Taiwan Style Beef Noodle Soup
Smells good. The broth is savory.
📌 Hot Prawn Salad
So far this one is quite disappointing. Plain. It has few slices of what seems to be like "gulaman" (jelly) which we think shouldn't be part of the dish.
Place is okay. Service is not bad as well.
It's been a while since i've eaten at my favorite go-to place when I'm looking for a good place to dine at - Banawe. The stretch of Banawe and Retiro is quite close to my house that's why whenever there's a newly opened restaurant I would be the first one to know. I enjoyed living in within the community for it's numerous good local restaurants serving authentic Chinese cuisines and many more. Therefore when I heard Tien Ma opened in Retiro I got so excited.
I'm actually just craving for Xiao Long Bao but not just any Xiao Long Bao one that's GOOD AND AFFORDABLE. Which means when I feel sad and empty and starts craving for my baby Xiao Long Bao it won't be hard for me to find it. It's like my ultimate comfort food that I can finish more than 20pcs in one seating Hahaha!
So I ordered the following:
🍙Xiao Long Bao P200 (9pcs.)
I actually lowered my standards for this because of the cheap price, I should not be expecting too much but I was surprised that it was better than I expected.
8.5/10 - I wish I could eat those 9 pcs but I had to share it with my boyfriend. LOL.
What made it extraordinary would be the soup it has a home-made feel and authentic taste.
Not bad if you are just really craving for a soup dumpling!
🍗Three Cup Chicken P199
Can't explain how this exactly tasted. The waiter said it's like the Chinese Version that of an Adobo, it somehow resembles based on the texture but it tasted quite far from it. It has this sweet, salty and garlicky sauce which reminds me of a milder soy chicken. I loved it! It's also plus that the serving is big and is already good for 2 people.
🍤Kung Pao Shrimp P199
Nothing extraordinary but I liked that there were many servings for the shrimp. Usually when I go to Chinese Restaurants they overload it with sauce instead of the toppings but for this one it's the opposite. I just didn't like how there were many unnecessary veggies added that didn't really made it special.
🍹Avocado Fruit Shake P90
Yey for fruit shakes! I got surprised they were serving Avocados during that day. I just find the price of the drink too expensive. It tasted quite blunt too that I even had to add sugar syrup to make it a little more sweeter.
Overall, this is a good restaurant, And I will be coming back for the Xiao Long Bao. They even offer promos during the not so peak hours and is even open until 12 midnight! How cool is that!

Good value for money, the stir-fried tito tastes great, and not to forget their cheap yet delicious xiao long bao which comes @ 200 pesos/9 pcs!
The dishes are really good and cheap! I think almost all are worth Php 199 each. The servings are big too.
It's hard to find a place that sells affordable Xiao Long Baos. Tien Ma has them. Ten pieces for only Php 200. It tastes so good. I don't recommend the fried xiao long bao though, it's too filling.
Other worthy dishes are the tofu, scrambled eggs in special sauce, and the noodles. With a bill of less than Php 1000, you can satisfy your cravings with delicious foods.
Even the stinky tofu (which lives up to it's name) is worth the try.
The dishes did remind me of Taiwan because they smelled and tasted exactly like the food I ate in Taiwan. The ingredients they used seemed to be the real deal. Even their plain rice tasted amazing!
I particularly loved their hot & sour soup. It was only Php200 for an order but I think it was good for 4-6 people.
XLB was, indeed, really good. It can compete against Din Tai Fung.
I am very particular with dimsum (actually, Chinese food in general) because it is my ultimate comfort food and I'm glad that Tien Ma passed my assessment with flying colors.
Price was very fair. Quality of food was superb. Service was fast. I particularly commend their guard. He is very attentive and very masipag. Parking is a challenge here but thanks to the guard, he will help you find parking.
This is now one of my family's go-to restaurants!
Don't leave without trying their Xiaolongpao. Very nicely made with juicy goodness inside. P200 for 9pcs. Servers were alert and quick. Unfortunately with 7 aircons and 3 fans, the place was still warm. An unpleasant stench was also present at our table.
