If you love matcha like I do, try their Matcha Shaved Ice ✨ Their shaved ice has a smooth texture, not grainy -- you'll know what I mean by "smooth" when you try it Killer toppings -- creamy & flavorful artisanal matcha ice cream, creamy red beans, and tiny pieces of matcha mochi ✨✨ I also suggest that you pour all of the extra serving of matcha sauce onto your dessert for maximum satisfaction! ✨ It's not too sweet. The serving is not "bitin" And you could really taste the matcha in it, unlike other same flavor desserts out there that only looks green but doesn't taste much like matcha. much better than the other dessert cafe I've recently been to...oops! Heheh They have a bigger serving for sharing When I come back, I'll probably order the bigger serving for myself hehehe Truly #matchalicious #KillingIt

Super love this place! Their small portion is already good for 2 people.
I think this is the only cafe that serves black sesame kakigori.

The only downside is the place is too small, and they close early.

Crazy about this quaint and charming dessert place along Tomas Morato that serves the best and to-die-for Japanese shaved ice creams!!! We’ve only tried their Matcha Kakigori and Kuromitsu; both were equally flavorful, refreshing, and the sweetness was just right. Probably had the finest shaved ice, too, compared to the other Bingsu places we have tried. We also loved how despite its huge serving it doesn’t make us feel bloated and heavy after. Wish they could expand their place so that more people get to experience their amazing desserts!

For such a small, quaint dessert place, this cafe really gives you a 5 star food experience. I have always been a fan of shaved ice desserts, but this tops them all. I tried the Mango Okinawa, and my friend had the Ube (her favorite).
The Mango Okinawa was one of the best shaved ice dessert I had. Fresh mangoes never disappoint, but pairing it with milk ice and condensed milk made it even better. The Ube was great, especially with the shiratama and macapuno. Even though it was raining when we had this, it was worth the additional cold. Will definitely go back here and try more flavors.

Such a quiant place to have dessert! Place is small and can only accommodate around 15pax. Love their bingsu! An order is good for three pax who just had a hefty meal. Hehe. Otherwise, I think a really hungry person can finish one order. Come by with friends so you can try their different flavors!! ❤

We had the ube variant. The large size was definitely good for 3 or even more. Value for money 👌
My comparison would be hobing hobing and my husband and I preferred the latter. Would go back to try the other flavors.

The best shaved ice/ bingsu shop I have ever been to (definitely beats Hobing in every aspect). The place is very small though, so there is a risk that you would need to sit outside (without aircon)

Food: 5/5 the shaved ice is creamy and made out of frozen milk
Ambiance: 4/5 actually quite cozy but the place is just too small
Service: 5/5 since the place is small, the servers are nearby and can assist you fast
Price: 5/5 Not overpriced, definitely worth every peso!

I like the chocolate flavored ice shaving dessert. Even with my wife, the large serving was more than enough. Even if you get the small one, kasya na.

Issue is parking lang at this place and they close earlier than what we’re normally used to on weekends. Have actually gone here after dinner to find out they were closed already twice! Yet we still keep coming back, so there.

Honestly so so soooooooooo good 💚💚💚💚💚 There’s a part in me that doesn’t want to share with everyone what this quaint cafe has to offer... But man, this kakigori (more commonly known as bingsu) instantly took me back to Japan. The aesthetics of the cafe are very similar to cafes in Japan (bar-style seating and facing the wall). The matcha kakigori we ordered (210 php) is already enough for 2 pax. It was so soo good you’ll be sure to crave it the next day. Combined with the red beans, mochi, matcha ice cream and an extra serving of matcha syrup, you will be amazed by how well the textures and flavors come together in one bite. Amazing experience 💚

I love their Matcha kakigori!! It's legit matcha!!! Everyone who loves matcha should try it! The regular sized can feed 2 people already I wasn't able to finish it because I was already full from eating their TanTanmen Ramen at Wabi Sabi! Also they have vegan option for their kakigori you just have to tell them. I love the cute, cozy place! My HS close friends enjoyed there.

Ikigai Kakigori! I love this place so much. It's a 5/5 in my book.

Food- 5/5

Matcha Kakigori - 5/5
Mango Okinawa- 5/5
Ichigo Choco- 5/5

Service- 5/5

Ambiance- 5/5

The matcha kakigori we had was a matcha lover's dream come true. It had a lot of matcha syrup and they even provided a tiny cup of additional matcha syrup, just enough to send you into a matcha coma. It was also topped with their homemade matcha icecream, adzuki beans, and perfectly cooked shiratama dango.

Our Mango Okinawa had sooooo many mango pieces and it wasn't overly sweet. It looked the simplest out of our three orders but this one was definitely my favorite. The mango icecream was also an amazing bonus.

Last but not the least, Ichigo Choco. It's shaved chocolate ice plus strawberries. It sounded weird to me at first but the lady behind the counter suggested it and thankfully I listened to her. The sweet strawberry slices complemented the shaved ice so well.

Apart from the great flavors, I'd also like to comment on how fine they shave their ice. It's not like Razon's halohalo but it's there.

The people working there were so nice! They know their menu well and they served us with a smile. They answered our questions politely. (thank you so much for your patience!)

Their place is small but it was cozy and clean the time we visited. Everything in their cafe was so cute to me

I'll definitely return and I'll tell more friends about this place. Keep up the good work Ikigai Kakigori!

I make sure I go to this place whenever I find myself in Timog. This is one of my favorite matcha dessert. Their Matcha Kakigori is so delicious! They provide a big serving of their shaved ices, enough for 2 persons but I can finish one bowl. The combination of milk ice, matcha syrup, adzuki, shiratama and matcha ice cream is just perfect. Shaved ice on the bottom, drizzled with green tea syrup with red bean and mochi is a heaven for matcha lovers like me. Flavors just blend wonderfully as the ice melts. Eating this brings immediate refreshment and cools me down. They also have options for those who want vegan ice cream.

This cafe allows your order at wabi sabi to be delivered here as long as you'll have dessert here. After eating vegetarian dishes, you can now indulge in vegan desserts.

REALLY, REALLY GOOD KAKIGOORI. ENOUGH TO WARRANT ALL CAPS AND EXPLETIVES. Went here after lunch at Wabi-Sabi and ordered their Kuromitsu (Brown Sugar or Molasses) and Kuro Goma (Black Sesame) Kakigoori, both Solo sizes which were still good for sharing! Servings were generous with the ingredients! Super sulit!

A quick correction with the Japanese on their menu though! Yung spelling ng "Shake" nila in Katakana is wrong. It should be 「シェーク」 and definitely NOT 「ェーク」.

After a dinner at Wabi Sabi, there is a near dessert place with kakigori. I was curious what is a kakigori because it is similar to a Bing Su of Korea. So we tried the best seller Matcha Kakigori (price at 270) good for 2 to 3 person. It was really a complete dessert with red beans, matcha ice cream, shaved ice with milk and matcha mochi. Add it with matcha syrup with intense matcha flavor. We almost didn't finish the dessert because it is really huge. It is really delicious and balanced flavor. I will go back again to try other flavor. A highly recommended dessert if ypu are fun of Bing su and Halo halo.

This place is right beside Wabi-Sabi and I think they also own it but i'm not sure though.

Always wanted to try their Kakigori but every time we finish dining, they're closed already. This one time we were so full but had a chance to go in, we just shared a bowl.

Mango Okinawa Kakigori(P270 for sharing)
-I'm not sure how to differentiate Korean Bingsu from Japanese Kakigori but they are both shaved ice desserts and seem like the same ice quality.

Serving size was good to share 2-3persons, sweet mangoes around but I would've wanted another layer of mangoes. Milk was delicious and mango ice cream on top. 🍧

The menu has a few selection of simple flavors, next time i'd try their yogurt variant and Japanese cheesecake shake seems tempting. 👅

Mango Okinawa gives off the right amount of sweetness and creaminess in a dessert. The mangoes were so many that some of it were actually falling off the bowl. Having it was such a delightful experience.
For the creme brulee, I can say it was good too. It was not sweet at all which I favor. One thing is definite, we will come back and try the other stuff in their menu.

We decided to try this place out for dessert because I saw the high ratings here in Zomato. I love the interior and even the exterior of the cafe because it looked like I was taken back to Japan to have some shaved ice. This place is famous for their kakigori (or bingsu, in korean). I love their selection as someone who adores matcha, and houjicha flavors ~ anything with tea.

We ordered the matcha kakigori and strawberry kakigori, and two brewed coffees. I love their matcha shaved ice, the red beans, shiratama, and green tea ice cream have the perfect sweetness to complement the shaved ice. It's not too sweet, or too bitter (as matcha tend to be). The strawberry one is okay to me. It's good, but I can probably get this in any bingsu place. The coffee is meh. Just your standard brewed coffee. I am highly impressed with their tea selection, and would love to come back for their homemade tea ice cream flavors.

However, I was extremely disappointed by their service, above anything else. Almost every item in the menu is unavailable when we went. It doesn't make sense to put them there then... There were no shakes, no tea drinks aside from sencha, and they have no ice! Leaving my dad and brother with no choice, they decided to order the standard coffee instead. My brother asked if he could order brewed coffee and have ice with it, and the lady said he can't. I'm not sure why since shaved ice is made of ice, right? I don't understand how she can say they can't put ice on his coffee? Plus, she didn't inform us that we could actually stay on the other Japanese restaurant beside us, from the same owner, until we paid. When we were in the other place, we saw they serve coffee drinks, so she could've informed us that the other place has other selection.

Still, will be rating this a 4 because apart from the service, the shaved ice is good.

Actual rating: 3.5 - rounded up

After dinner, V and I went to Ikigai Kakigori Cafe just across the street from Il Terrazzo to have dessert! 💜 Ikigai is loosely translated as "the reason / purpose to live", while kakigori means "Japanese shaved ice dessert".

I had high expectations for this dessert place because its facade looks so legit and authentic! It serves various flavors of kakigori (similar to the Korean's bingsu). Of course, we had to try out the Matcha Kakigori! 💚 V and I ordered one order for sharing.

✅ MATCHA KAKIGORI (Php 270 - for sharing) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This has shaved milk ice, matcha syrup, red monggo beans, matcha mochi, and matcha ice cream. I LOOOVED IT! 😍💚 V has tried this before, and she recommended this. And after just one bite, I understood why. The milk ice was super fine, and was not that sweet. They serve it with extra matcha syrup on the side, which you can pour on top of the dessert. The red monggo beans give a certain texture to the dessert, and the mochi tasted really good too! Their homemade matcha ice cream is just the "icing on the cake". 😍 Again, this is super good! The serving size is really big too, and can serve upto three people! 👌YUMMYYYY 💚💚💚

The service was good and quick, and the place looks like a stall from the Japanese night market. 🇯🇵 Awesome! It actually exceeded my expectations!!! 😍

This is definitely a recommended dessert place when in Tomas Morato. 💚 I am definitely coming back next time to try the other flavors! 😉

Tip: If you have someone to share with, make sure to order the large size as it is more than twice the size of the solo size. 😁 Sulit!

The place is located in an obscure spot.  The name of the outlet is not easy to remember, yet I went there because of their high rating.  I was not disappointed.   Their dessert thrilled me as well as everyone in my company.  I write this review because I hate to see them close down as there was only one other customer when we were there.   Their servings were huge.  The P250 serving could serve three!  So delicious that  you find yourself smiling to yourself in contentment.    Trump and Kim Jong un  should chill out at this place.  Include Digong as well.  Seriously.

It was my first time to be here together with 3 of my
friends . We ordered Matcha for sharing. It was a delight to taste this Japanese dessert. I just love their green tea ice cream , red monggo beans and mochi on top of the finely shaved ice!

I love this Japanese dessert but compared to our native halo halo with lots of fancy toppings, this one is quite expensive.

It was worth the experience though and the ambience was perfect for some private get together .

My partner has this endless craving for bingsu, so I recommended this place to her and bring along my friends. The place gives you a vibe of a hole in a wall cafe. Cute and very traditional Japanese peg. We ordered the strawberry and matcha flavor. Both tasted great but I still feel that bingsu dishes are overpriced. The service is good and the experience is okay. My partner and friends loved it since they are a fan of the dish. Me, i'm kuripot so I still think it's a little pricey ;)

It was a hot summer afternoon that time that we decided to satisfy our cravings for Matcha when we decided to stop by Ikigai Kakigori. The place was somewhat small and not that visible but upon entering the place, you will feel the Japanese atmosphere in the air.

To relieve the humidity, we chose to have their Matcha and Ichigo Kakigori. They have options for going solo or for sharing but given that I have this large appetite that time, me and my friend enjoyed sharing for each one of us!  Their Matcha had mochi partnered with red beans which complements the tea flavor which was not too sweet nor bland. They also have extra Matcha syrup so you have the option to increase the level of  Matchaness (If that is even a word to describe it lol.) On the other side, their Ichigo was a combination of vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries. Which, is like heaven to berry lovers.

Taking everything into account, the experience was something to go back to every time I will have the chance to do so.

So yummy!

Ice was very smooth.
The milk used wasn't too sweet hence not overpowering the real flavor of kakigori.
Miggy, my partner, particularly liked their strawberry kakigori. It was his first time having bingsu/kakigori & he just couldn't stop talking about it & this place.
I had kuromitsu. Even if it had brown sugar syrup, it still wasn't sweet for me. It instead went well with the shiratama.

Btw, place is quite small. Could fit around 12 people at the maximum for airconditioned seating & another 12 for the outdoors.
We went there around 2pm & had to take the seats facing the counter.

I ordered the Matcha Kakigori. Let me tell you, first spoonful was heaven, second spoonful with the syrup was ascension to heaven! The shaved ice was so fine, it felt like I was eating snow from Mt. Fuji (OA ba?Give it a try and see for yourself!) 💚

Bingsu has been popular in Manila last year when Café Seol Hwa made such an impact to the foodie community (especially to those struggling to survive from the summer heat). Since then, several bingsu restaurants popped literally everywhere. To spice things up, a Japanese shave ice concept came to Manila--Ikigai Kakigori Café. Since we were already around the area, we decided to drop by after Kozui Green Tea. (Yes, it was right after wolfing down a bowl of soft serve ice cream simply because we were really melting that day.)

I love Japanese food especially their desserts. Kakigori is one of my favorite especially if you eat this here!

Ikigai kakigori is this hidden little spot near Il Terrazo.

If you like eating shaved frozen ice (or just shaved ice), you'll love this! I tried their black sesame and it was divine! If you tried family mart's black sesame, well, similar but better than that. It's a mixture of shaved frozen milk, red bean paste, ice cream and black sesame. My friend tried their strawberry kakigori. Bes! If you're a berry milk lover, you gotta try it especially during summer season!

=^w^=

P.S. Eat this outside after eating at the ramen shop next door. If you stay inside, you might feel cold from eating kakigori (unless you're 'the cold never bothered me anywhere type? Lol)

In a conquest for everything Matcha, we were brought in, as was advised by a buddy, to try out their Kakigori. We tried out their Matcha and Ichigo.

The cold shave ice is perfect for the summer heat. It is not too sweet and better get the one for sharing instead of getting the solo orders. I like the Mochi and the Red bean included in the Matcha Kakigori as it compliments it nicely. The Ichigo tasted good as well. Although it would be better if they used fresh strawberries for garnish, the ones they used worked as well.

The place is a bit small but cozy. I like how it looked outside as it gave out an authentic Japanese vibe. I am looking forward to try out their other desserts as well.

With the very unpredictable weather.. there are times when it's raining really hard and then all of a sudden, it's really hot outside.

And when it's too hot, you just can't help but want something cold, cool and icy to enjoy.

It was a hot sunny afternoon when we visited this place so it was the best time for me to finally try this place out.

We tried 3 different flavors - CHOCOLATE, MATCHA and a new flavor, HARU HARU.

My favorite would be the Chocolate w koko krunch. It was good and I liked that it was not too sweet. This was also the only one without the scary mochi (which is why I liked this the most, haha!). The Matcha and Haru Haru were both pretty good, as well. Just not my type.

Another shaved milk ice dessert place I was able to try thanks to our #TomasMoratoFoodCrawl last Saturday!

The place was small and quite packed but we were able to secure a table right away. The group (Clarissa P, Lea A, Mary Love S & moi😁) decided to order four flavors to share. It didn’t take much discussion and we settled with the following:

🍨Matcha Kakigori – Topped with matcha ice cream, sweetened red beans and green tea flavored mocha or shiratama. I took a spoon to get a taste although I know I’m only going to find matcha in it. Lol. Not a fan of lasang halaman so this was just okay.

🍨Mango Kakigori - Mango flavored milk ice topped with mango ice cream, fresh diced mangoes and nata de coco. It tasked mangoes alright and there’s even cashew nuts in the middle but there wasn’t extra ordinary omff in it. The diced mangoes were a tad sour too.

🍨Kuromitsu Kakigori – Shaved milk ice dredged in brown sugar syrup with smoked green tea ice cream paired with sweetened red bean and flavored mochi covered with special flour. No exciting moment on this one too. I’m also not a fan of the taste that lingers from the special flour around the mochi.

🍧Strawberry Yogurt Kakigori – Shaved milk ice with yogurt and strawberries on top. This was probably my favorite from all the desserts we ordered. The strawberries are sweet and mellow perfectly with the shaved milk ice. As you dig through it, you will unearth condensed milk at the bottom of the dessert.

So yeah, three stars 🌟🌟🌟. The ice was finely shaved and all but I think my issue with Ikagai is the lack of rich flavors. They dwell mostly on subtle taste which is not a favorable thing for a sweet tooth like me.

Will I be back? I would have to say no. But I will still recommend it to friends who enjoy desserts and doesn’t obsessed much on sweets.

A little quaint store along the scout area serving good shaved ice dessert. Quite expensive for its taste and quality compared to other newly-opened ones, but i like how Ikigai Kakigori has less fuss than them. My favorite is the Mango and Coffee Jelly, especially if ordered at the same time because of their contrasting taste. I could pass on Haru-Haru but am interested to order the Black Sesame next time I visit. The place could hold just a couple of groups since it's small, but it's cozy enough to stay even after you're done with your dessert.

We ordered their macha, strawberry, and mango and we tried their vietnamese coffee shake. It was a bit pricey but when our orders came, I saw why. It was actually pretty big! And it's not just the typical shaved ice, theirs was different. It was fluffy and flavorful. It's not like the shaved ice with syrup, it was as if the ice itself had flavor. No idea how they made it but I love it! Their matcha had red beans and also macha syrup that wasn't too sweet but it was just right. Their strawberry was also delicious, it was with vanilla ice cream if I remember correctly. Their mango was delicious as well, there was a scoop of mango ice cream and some nata de coco cubes lying around. There were cashew nuts in the bottom, much to my surprise, although I don't know if it's a good thing or not. Depends on personal preference I guess. As of their vietnamese coffee shake, it's a shake that has actual ground beans in it. There's whip cream on top of it as well. Overall it was actually really good, you could really taste the ground coffee, it was just a little too sweet.

The place is quite small but they have outdoor seating. The interior and exterior had the traditional Japanese small store design that aimed for simplicity and minimalism. They hit the mark! I want to definitely come back and try their other offers.

The place was small, but looks very nice. You can the Japanese vibe inside the cafe. My girlfriend had the Matcha Kakigori which she definitely liked. I didn't like it as much, because I was just not a fan of Matcha. I just had their Brown Rice Matcha Tea, which tasted like a regular Barley Tea. It would be great if they try to expand their menu to bring in more different choices.

I tried their mango Okinawa kakigori, and it certainly did not disappoint. It's about what you'd expect, the ice was very fine and well shaved, the mangoes were very sweet even though it's not mango season. Definitely worth repeat visits

Bingsu has been popular in Manila last year when Café Seol Hwa made such an impact to the foodie community (especially to those struggling to survive from the summer heat). Since then, several bingsu restaurants popped literally everywhere. One of the new players in the market is Ikigai Kakigori Café and since we were already around the area, we decided to drop by the bingsu place after Kozui Green Tea. (Yes, it was right after wolfing down a bowl of soft serve ice cream simply because we were really melting that day.)

Super cute place, love the ambiance. Love the options. And most of all, love the quality. You can really see that they don't skimp on the ingredients and that they use quality ingredients. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 Oh and servings are big! Won't find another place as good as this in Manila for kakigori.

Out of the 7 places we went for Bingsu around Manila, this place is, by far, the best. I have yet to taste shaved ice which is better than this. Maybe in Korea. But if you are in Manila looking for Bingsu, this is the place to be. Parking is okay but the streets are being fixed so it is kinda hard lately. They close early. May I recommend an extension of the opening hours so we can get this great-tasting-mouth-watering shaved ice after work? 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I used to love this place. I even rated it as my most favorite Bingsu. Been craving for their kakigori since we moved to Marikina. Unfortunately, however, it has changed. I observed that there was no syrup on the side anymore (now you have to pay 30 pesos for approx. 5 to 10mL of their syrup). The red beans in the core of the kakigori (or what we call "THE SURPRISE CENTER") has been reduced as well. 😢 A little bit disappointed because we came all the way from Marikina for this.

A nice place to enjoy the Japanese dessert featuring ice cream and beans. A regular order is big enough for 2 (even 3) persons. Nice addition to this area.

We had the ichigo flavored kakigori, which was basically japanese ice cream with beans. It was big and good enough to share for two people. We liked it, served with sweet sauce on the side to adjust to our sweetness level. We didn't put a lot of the sauce actually, because we can get the flavor from the ice cream, the mochi, the cheesecake, and there was also syrup inside.

The place was very small and cozy, can only fit less than 15 people, I think. Nothing else much is offered in the menu, but it's a rather nice dessert place.

Hello, Ikigai Kakigori Café.

The quaint looking café has a very Japanese vibe with its adorable façade and decors. The restaurant itself is cramped and could sit a maximum of 10-12 diners, sardines style. Moving around the restaurant was barely possible when we were there. Anyway, on to our orders.

One thing I love about these looloo foodies is that they are game to try anything. We got our orders down in less than 2 minutes. We got the bestsellers Matcha Kakigori (PHP190 | PHP250), Mango Kakigori (PHP180 | PHP240), Kuromitsu Kakigori (PHP180 | PHP240) and Strawberry Ichigo Kakigori (PHP210).

Service was quick and first served was Strawberry Kakigori.

It didn’t look as appetizing as the ones from Hobing or Seol Hwa but it was spot on with the milkiness of the shaved ice. The strawberry chunks were a bit mushy and covered in milk and sweeteners but still delightful to munch on. This was the best one we had at Ikigai.

The Matcha Kakigori was served next and it came with matcha ice cream, adzuki, shiratama (mochi) and extra matcha syrup.

It was quite plain and needed more matcha syrup (more than what was given as extra) especially for hardcore matcha lovers. I liked the shiratama and adzuki though as it added a different texture to the bowl of shaved ice. The matcha ice cream was pretty good too.

The Mango Kakigori was forgettable. It wasn’t flavorful enough and there were not enough mango bits. I also didn’t really like it with nata de coco and cashews.

Kuromitsu Kakigori was also just so-so for us. The ice was not as milky as the strawberry kakigori’s and the brown sugar syrup just reminded us of taho without soy. I liked the houjica ice cream though which had a nice earthy taste. The adzuki also added texture to the dessert. I didn’t get a shiratama but J mentioned that he didn’t like the taste of the brown coating of the mochi.

I thought that this place would make me forget my first two loves—Seol Hwa and Hobing but it just made me appreciate the two BGC locals even more. Would I go back? Maybe when I’m near the area. But I would not head to Quezon City just for this.

First timers, get Strawberry Kakigori. (Or Matcha but ask for more syrup!)

The hot weather makes people scream for anything that will cool them down and anything that will provide refreshment even for a while. Ice cream, gelato, smoothies, frappe, halo-halo and Bingsu - name it, we all want them! With the increasing popularity of Bingsu stores providing cozy places for millennials to cool down, more and more entrepreneurs are taking advantage of this summer heat.

Their matcha kakigori definitely did not disappoint. It came with a side of matcha in a tea cup that you could continuously drizzle over the shaved ice, red beans, and mochi. The flavors were all there.

We also tried the chocolate, which had brownies, crumble, and koko crunch cereal at the bottom. Definitely a great mix for a chocolate explosion.

While waiting for your order, there were Japanese board games available for use. We had trouble figuring them out at first, but we definitely enjoyed once we got the hang of it!

The place was small, quaint, and really homey. There was definitely a Japanese vibe going on. Overall, it was a great experience in terms of food and culture.

This place serve Japanese desert similar to that of korean's patbingsu. There are 2 sizes to choose from. Solo or for sharing. Their servers have a lot of patience explaining the differences of each.
I personally tried kuromitsu kakigori. Their ice was so fine that it instantly melts in your mouth once eaten. The taste was not too sweet that makes can give you goosebumps. There was also an mocha ice cream on top to go with your desert. Will definitely try the other flavors next time around.

I just tasted the best shaved ice dessert! As I have been in a search for the most delicious bingsu/kakigori/shaved ice, whatever you call it, for months now.. this is, so far,the winner.

Situated in POS building, just across IL terrazo. You will notice that the building itself is interesting because of its bricked style. Anyways, upon entering the cafe, you can see that the interior was just on point. "A humble old school cafe in a humble japanese town".

I ordered their best selling matcha kakigori. Once it was put in front of me. The presentation is up to its theme. It was nice. Then, when I tasted it. I was in heaven. The (milk) ice itself tasted good, the texture was fine and feather-like. The sugar syrup matcha, when poured onto it, just complements everything. The beans, the matcha ice cream and the rice balls are all perfect. I have no words to describe the experience.

This is my top 1 so far and will definitely go back! i will try , next time, the other flavors. Just wow.

My friends and I went here for a late night dessert and just to hang out more. When we got here, the place was already filled up and it takes time to get an empty seat since the place is small. Good thing one of the staff (maybe she is a manager or one of the owners) told us that we can sit at Wabi-Sabi's space. We just simply order and then the Ikigai staff will bring the desserts to us.

As soon as I saw Kuromitsu as one of their flavors, I immediately chose it. Meanwhile, our other friends chose the mango flavor. Team Kuromistu as we call it made the best decision. It was really flavorful. And they give an additional brown sugar syrup to pour for the shaved ice cream below. It has some tiny fried doughs and I believe a milk tea ice cream. It was super delish that even those who were part of the Team Mango can't help scooping portions from our dessert. The mango flavor wasn't sweet. I think it was based on the Japanese mango.

Overall, the good for sharing kakigoris is good for 2-3 pax. It's really worth it as it's really good and they didn't skimp on the toppings. They also offer other lovely looking sweet treats by the way.

I've tasted matcha, kuromitsu, and coffee kakigori. Of these, matcha is THE best.

Soft and almost powdery in texture, the milk flavoured shaved ice is good to eat alone. But the addition of real sweetened matcha syrup makes it way better. Although I think I need an extra cup of matcha syrup for that ultimate japanese taste. The matcha ice cream combined with sweet red adzuki beans and flavoured ice make a perfect combination.

I love kuromitsu. It made me smile the first time I tasted it. It reminded me of the sweet brown sugary taste of arnibal from local magtataho that has some hint of honey taste in it. The accompanyung ice cream is probably the best ice cream they have.

Words fail me in describing how good the experinece was. It's worth going back to.

Went here with my family after having dinner near the area.
We decided to grab some dessert before heading back home and I suggested this
place to them. I was surprised to discover that this dessert house was also
owned by the owner of Wabi-Sabi. Unfortunately, during the time we went there
the road was under construction. Dessert was ok different with how Korean
Bingsu are made and taste, but nonetheless still taste ok.

Super super love the kakigori!!! Definitely worth every peso I spent and more! The flavors are rich and there are generous servings of fruit and toppings in one order. Their hot tea also matches the snow ice well.
We also got to try the matcha tiramisu for free -- a friendly staff approached our table and handed a sample cup. The flavors are on point, with the matcha still the most poignant flavor despite hints of chocolate.

Such a great hole in the wall dessert cafe! It's kawaii to the max. Reminds me of Hawaiian shaved ice with a few extra toppings. I got the matcha kakigori! The base is milk snow with matcha syrup, mochi balls and red bean paste. So delicious, airy and light! I got the solo and it was 190 pesos. So worth it.

I need to bring more of my friends here. It's a nice place to chill and bond. It has cute little Japanese board games too:) Also, this building has a lot of interesting places to dine and a few boutiques to shop in. I highly recommend this place for a sweet ending to the night!

We have tried 3 flavors and my faves are matcha and chocolate kakigori. Matcha comes with extra syrup to add extra flavor depending on your taste. I love the red bean on the side. I would buy extra red bean next time. Chocolate was divine plus underneath the shaved flavored ice are crunchy cereals. I would try the mango and coffee kakigori next. Servings are big so be careful when ordering too much. The only set back is the space they have limited space inside their store but they have access within the surrounding area if its full. But it wouldn't be comfortable during humid weather.

They got the kind of matcha that I like!! (If you are curious about what kind, it is the same kind as the matcha green tea latte of Starbucks). They were also able to make a red bean hater (aka me) appreciate red bean.

We also ordered the mango flavored one (sorry about the descriptor, forgot to take a photo of the menu), it was okay. The thing with mango flavored desserts are they are highly dependent on the sweetness of the mango, and the mango was not at par with the sweetness that I like.

Serving size was great! There were 5 of us but we had a hard time finishing the 2 desserts that we ordered.

We had dessert here last week and I was very happy with our choice! We headed to the restaurant opposite of Poppins, which had no distinct signs outside... It was small and simple, but it had a nice Japanese feel to it... There was only one other table occupied when we came in, so we had no trouble with seating...

I really liked their staff! They were so nice with helpful suggestions and knowledgable about the menu and it's components... Much appreciated!

A kakigori is the Japanese equivalent of the Korean bing-su, Taiwanese baobing, and the Pinoy halo-halo... A shaved ice dessert with multiple toppings and added syrup for flavor... The restaurant offers several varieties of this dessert in either a solo serving or a bigger one for sharing... We opted for the solo serving tonight, which was another good choice since it is a big serving!😊

As my bf does not touch matcha, we opted for their Kuromitsu Kakigori, one of their bestsellers... It's made of milk ice drizzled with brown sugar syrup, houjicha ice cream, adzuki, and shiratama... I had to ask what the shiratama was and the server explained that it was their mochi or the glutinous rice balls... I also had to ask what is the houjicha... Ate explained that it was roasted green tea... I loved her automatic answers and her confidence, a sign of a well trained employee!👍

Our dessert came, beautifully constructed and picture worthy... The staff looked on curiously as I tried my best to capture the essence of the dessert... Nuks!😊

We liked this flavor a lot! It came with a separate container for the arnibal, so you can control the overall sweetness of the kakigori... The milk ice had a delicate flavor, a great background for the other components... I really loved that houjicha ice cream, a nice contrast to the sweetness of the brown sugar... The shiratama added a textural element but I found that it tasted a bit weird... I think I'm just used to the commercial mochi balls... Overall, it was subtle and simple and very Japanese... I enjoyed it and I was glad that I got to try it!😍

I would definitely love to try the matcha and mango flavors! Happy with our visit!😄

I am serious about how good the ice cream was! I've tried all except the coffee kakigori variants and all were good! Second to Kuromitsu, I also like Chocolate! Matcha and Mango are also good! Service is good but the place is quite small. They are gaining popularity and is getting crowded.

I have a friend, Y, who is so obsessed with Matcha. He is known to drink green tea powder-flavored water all day, caffein-fueled sleepless nights be damned. So when there are newly opened Japanese dessert places that specialize in matcha green tea, we are sure to flock over ASAP. This week, it was my turn to propose a new dessert venue I found via Instagram, Ikigai Kakigori Café.

I didn’t have any expectations coming in. All I know is that there was a delicious-looking giant bowl of shaved ice dessert I found on social media, and I wanted in. I showed the photo to Y and M, and they were immediately on-board. (M, not much of a green tea lover, was more interested in checking the place out than having dessert there.)

True to its name, Ikigai Kakigori, is perfectly café-sized. There are about six small tables (some found outside), plus bar seating. For the current menu offerings of coffee, ice cream, and various flavors of shaved ice, that’s an aptly-sized restaurant. And with its wood design elements and Japanese knickknacks, it does give off an old-fashioned sushi bar feel without the actual sushi.

We ordered just one big bowl of Matcha Shaved Ice (PHP 250), though you can get a smaller size for all flavors. It was presented beautifully. Sticky rice balls carefully lined up, a generous helping of adzuki beans, and a covering of green tea syrup (with extra served on the side) make it look too good to resist, even for M who doesn’t care for green tea. It didn’t convert him, but he did enjoy a few bites.

The dessert itself is subtly flavored, despite the deceptively vibrant color and the extra helping of syrup on the side. It’s milky shaved ice with a strongly-flavored green tea syrup that isn’t too sweet. The beans are at that halfway point between soft-formed and bean paste. But when eating a spoonful containing all the ingredients, the state of the beans wasn’t a big deal to me.

The inside is all milk shaving, so the extra syrup is best poured after you’ve finished the top layer already. Otherwise, you just get strong matcha at the top and milk at the bottom.

Verdict: The limited menu makes it strictly a kakigori and ice cream dessert place, and I wish they had other matcha-themed desserts (cheesecake, sponge cake, cookies, etc.) just so you’d have more reasons to visit. But the interiors are done up well in their simplicity. It makes for a great hangout for smaller groups.

I seldomly go to a dessert place to hangout or even dine, but I heard about this place from foodie friends tucked in a bldg along tomas morato. (POS bldg. beside il terrazo) It got me curious and this curiosity became an instant addiction.

Kakigōri is a Japanese shaved ice dessert flavored with syrup and a sweetener, often condensed milk. (wikipedia)

Here's my verdict:

Generally, i like the concept of having flavors and textures just swirls in your mouth like an orchestra producing a beautiful piece. The shaved ice literally melts in your mouth. The flavor combination is brilliant.

#1 Kuromitsu is composed of shaved milk ice, azuki beans, houjicha ice cream, shiratama mochi, and muscovado syrup.

#2 Matcha is composed of shaved milk ice, azuki, matcha ice cream, mochi, and syrup.

I like how they make their matcha on the sweet side (but not too sweet) to mask the bitterness it.@
