Tried the truffle pasta with salad on the side and it passed as a filling meal. The serving size is generous enough that a plate is good for 2-3pax. This restaurant is tucked along Scout Lazcano with a light and warm ambiance that gives every guest a homey feel.

Love the decor and the place especially their plates ❤️. The food was pretty decent, but not worth it for me. The actual pasta in the truffle pasta was lacking which is a little sad since the sauce was good.

I absolutely loved this place. It has a nice cozy atmosphere and such a great place to catch up with people. We ordered the truffle pasta and the chicken parmigiana. The truffle pasta was absolutely divine. I love how the noodles were cooked and that they have this nice subtle chewy texture. The flavors were very good without it being too overwhelming. I love how they added almonds in it so you have this nice nutty flavor. It was really good. Serving is good for 2 people. I do highly recomment gettint the chicken parmigiana. It would be a travesty not too. It's so crispy, delicious and cheesy. I absolutely loved it. It was so good. All in all I really enjoyed the place. One of my top places around Tomas Morato. 💖

Still great food, but I'm disappointed that the menu here in Zomato is not updated. When I arrived sa restaurant, there was only one choice of risotto, and the other items in the Zomato menu weren't in the menu sa La Spezia anymore. Also disappointed na madaming unavailable sa menu nila. But on the bright side, the food is delicious.

Great resto! Great service. Ambiance cozy
Chicken Parmigiana was huge,and juicy.

The poached pear though, was disappoting cuz we find it too crunchy still. Not the "melt in the mouth" poached pears :( flavors was good.

Arrived here at exactly 5:45 pm and after 30 min the place was already full. Service was really exceptional even though he was the only who was serving the whole restaurant. Food was really delicious especially the Chicken Parmagiana and the NZ Lamb Chop. Overall food was very good in quality.

Would definitely recommend it in the Tomas Morato area. It’s a must try for everyone.

Very nice! I wish the menu were a bit more extensive (did I dream eating carbonara with black truffle here before?) and the staff could have been friendlier, but overall it's a great place. The more interesting items (buratta and the octopus dish) were disappointingly not available, but the items we had were great. See: polenta, carbonara (no black truffle but still YUM), chicken parm (yum yum YUM), and the pear dessert (excelleeent!). Drink selection could also be expanded, but I liked the sweet tea they had to offer. Will definitely be back to try the beef!

La Spezia is a small coastal town from Italy, here in the Philippines, its a quiant, homey place that serves one of the besst, IF NOT THE BEST, AUNTHENTIC ITALIAN CUISINE in the metro IMHO. STANDING RESERVATION PLEASE???

Came here with a couple of friends for dinner! Oh boy how I am glad that I made a reservation ahead of time, they were packed(Saturday night)! I initially chose this place becuase I saw they have a high rating on zomato, with a 92% LEGIT, ORGANIC REVIEWS, not like other restaurants that has 60% legit reviews with a lot of not so legit ones.

The food was amazing, cant stress enough on how clean and fresh the flavors was!
We were a group of 3 girls, I must admit that I ordered a lot of food, I misjudged thier serving size, it was a lot!

Buratta-
Had a lot of variations, thier variation is the best, actually the burrata itself is outstanding! Charred buttery corn, combined with the fresh tomatoes splashed with modena balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. Garnished with fresh basil and balsamic reduction! YUM!

Vongole-
This dish is outstanding! You can really taste the clams on the pasta! Garnished with parsley, chili flakes, and roasted bellpepper! The bellpeppers did the trick! It made the dish subtle with the strong taste of clams!

Parmegianna-
Wow! How juicy is this one! Very crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! Topped with pomodoro, mornay sauce, dried black olives, fresh green olives, chili flakes, and fresh basil

Overall my experience with La Spezia is sublime! Fast service and amazing food! I will definitely come back and try more of thier dishes!

Salad - the grilled octopus added to the the salad made it extra unique and delicious

Lamb chop- really tender and we all enjoyed it!

Truffle pasta- i love truffle!

Overall the food served were spectacular! I admit the prices were really steep. Ambiance and service 💯

No shortcuts. This is the prevailing theme in La Spezia that presents Manila with authentic Italian cuisine coming from young Enderun alum Chefs Aaron and Sean, who had their internship in Michelin starred restaurants in Europe. When we dined here, there were balikbayans, restaurant owners and later into the night, chefs who sampled their culinary wizardry.

In fact, it is thru the IG posts of Chef Sandy Daza that got me interested to try this restaurant. So, for family bonding night, I braved Manila traffic in rush hour and it took me 2 hrs and 15 min with Waze from Makati CBD to Tomas Morato.

Their complimentary bread was freshly toasted when it arrived. The accompanying balsamic reduction had a peculiarly sweet, pleasant taste most probably coming from grapes.

We had Polenta Frittata and Garden Insalata for starters. The polenta made of cornmeal was crisp to the bite and was heightened by strips of orange rind. The salad was not only colorful and robust, it was a playful combination of taste and texture with the greens doused in evoo with Lolo Rosso, corn, pancetta, candied walnuts and strawberry balsamic.

For Primi, we had the Risotto Classico and the Pasta al Tartufo. You know a good chef who sticks to traditional recipe in the preparation of risotto and at La Spezia, they do. The pasta had black truffle yumminess woven into the noodle strands.

Being Pinoys, we like eating our carbs with our proteins so we had as our Secondi or mains: Pesce al Vapore, Stinco de Agnello and Amatra Scottata. The Pesce al Vapore is steamed Lapu-lapu done the Italian way with zucchini, carrots, fried potatoes and lemon slices. It is said that they source their fish from a fisherman in Palawan who catches it in the wild and is not the farmed kind. It shows in the freshness and succulence of the meat that was presented as a whole fish perfectly deboned by the chefs. The Stinco de Agnello is lamb shank that is supposedly braised for 4 hrs. So, I naughtily asked the waiter, "do you use a microwave to heat this before serving?" "No ma'am, our chefs do not believe in microwaving, in fact, we don't have a microwave in the kitchen." Again, no shortcuts! Wow, a restaurant that actually practices what I believe in; that microwaving is bad for the health. Another plus point in my mind. The result of right braising method and cooking is fall-off-the-bone goodness with the gameyness removed by the presence of orange rind and juice. The Amatra Scottata is perfectly cooked duck breast with pumpkin sauce, sugarbeet brittle and crisp duck skin. Magnifique!

To cap our meal, we tried their 2 desserts: the Camicia Pear and Zeppole. The pear was presented two-ways; poached and flambèd with accompanying graham crust bits and vanilla ice cream, gone in a flash wasn't even able to take a pic! The Zeppole was lemon-flavored Italian donuts that came in 12 bite-sized pieces.

I just hope the pictures do justice to the food at La Spezia. The richness of colors correspond to the richness of flavors. Please zomato, find a way to upload pics together with the write-up, real time because it is best to view the pics as the review is read. Two fine young chefs set on a journey to share their favorite foods with us with no compromise. NO SHORTCUTS. Stay the course, all the best to your enduring success.

Food tasted really great. Ingredients were carefully curated and every small item in the dish were cooked in perfection! Tried the truffle pasta and it was divine - real truffles were used to create this dish. Had camicia pear for dessert, and it was a perfect balance of everything - not too sweet, and you get to taste everything in one bite.

One of the best restaurants I've ever been! I would really like to commend the staff for being very accomodating and polite to their customers. Booked a reservation via text and got my confirmation really quick and hassle free. Plus I also got to choose my desired table and location. The place has good interiors and very comfortable ambience. Although the space is quite small, it's good enough if you want to spend a quiet and cozy dinner with someone. The food tastes great too! I ordered the garden salad, classic risotto, and chicken parmigiani and was surprised to see huge servings (especially the chicken parmigiani). The price was quite expensive but I can say that everything was worth the price.

One of the best restaurants in the metro! Had thier buratta, aglio pesca, and pollo parmegianna

Buratta- very curdy and creamy!the way burrata should be!it is accompanied by flash pan fried corn, very buttery, sweet, and charred, bright red ripe tomatoes seasoned with extra virgin olive oil and modena balsamic vinegar, fresh basil and balsamic reduction. I would recommend you to have a bite of each ingredients first, afterwards put a bit of each on your spoon and take a big bite. You can taste the perfect balance of the dish in your mouth!

Aglio pesca- their version of garlic seafood pasta is unbeatable! The always use fresh seafoods for this dish! Very garlicy and a bit of spiciness will hit you at the end because of chili flakes! It is cooked only with 18months parmegianno reginanno and they have it grated on top!

Pollo Parmegianna- I tried a lot of parmegianna in my days but i can guarantee you this is the best one i had in my life! The chicken is very moist and flavorful!kicking with garlic, thyme, and rosemary flavors!perfect with the pomodoro and mozarella sauce on top!grated with 18months parmegiano regianno and torched so it has the caramelized cheese taste. To top it off they garnish it with chili flakes, green olives, and fresh basil! Every small ingredient used plays a big role for the overall taste of the dish.

Overall i can say the dishes is perfectly balanced, every small ingredient plays its big role in the ovarall harmony of the dish!

Finally went here for dinner and it was amazing. We ordered the lamb shank, which was so soft and flavorful--the orange zest kept it from being too heavy or rich. The truffle pasta was earthy and creamy, and definitely a must-try--done to what in my mind is the true level of al dente (I like my pasta a bit chewy).

For dessert, we ordered coffee to go with the zeppole, which were Italian donuts with strawberry coulis and mascarpone. The dessert was not too sweet and was a satisfying medley of creamy and fruity--it never got cloying. I do wish it had a bit more lemon in it.

If there's anything that should be improved, it's that the food should be hotter when it reaches the diners. Otherwise, I would definitely come back again!

Risotto al Nero di Frutti di Mare (PHP 540) - their cuttlefish ink risotto exceeded my expectations. It was delicious and the shrimp ingredient could be distinguished in the rice. When my dad saw me eating it, he thought it was Paella Negra then I realized that it could really pass as such. Anyways, the only problem is that it was pricey.

Very authentic and good Italian restaurant in Tomas Morato.

We had glasses of red and white wine from their wine list. The complimentary ciabatta bread with dip was very good.

Caprese Insalata was very good - mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, pesto and mixed greens. A superb start to our meal.

Spaghett Pomodoro e Basilico was simple and elegant. Al dente spaghetti with sun-dried tomatoes, whole basil leaves and extra virgin olive oil. Just right!

Pollo alla Parmigiana was our main dish. Loved their version of this dish with mozzarella stuffed chicken breast with tomato sauce, basil and mornay sauce. Made a little spicy.

Lastly, Affogato with spiced candied walnuts was light and tasty.

I really like this hole in the wall restaurant!! This is one of the few Italian restaurants here in Manila that actually reminds me of Italy. The menu is limited, but it's constantly updated based on the 'seasonal' / availability of ingredients. Taste and quality of ingredients are excellent too. Ambience is homey, and the place is a nice, quiet place for a meal. I hope it doesn't close because there's hardly any other guests during my visits to the restaurant. I hope more people discover this place!

We ordered their Pasta Al Tartufo, as we love truffle pasta. There was a generous amount of grated truffle mushroom on top of the pasta, which was great, but the overall impact of the dish for me was so-so.  We also ordered their Stinco de Agnello (Lamb). The meat was very tender, almost melts in your mouth, but it lacked flavor for me. Still loved the place though. It was cozy and intimate. We had a reservation so we were promptly seated when we arrived. The staff were also very attentive.

From the entree, mains to dessert, all I could say was hands down to the chef! The food was great! The only downfall I could say was the affogato dessert as the chili does not went too well with the affogato kick, but otherwise we enjoyed our dinner.

Ambience: it was ok but lots of kids running around which makes the resto noisy but if you are after good food, then highly recommended.

Late Review! Went here for a late valentines date (a week after). A bit pricey but the staff was very accomodating! I ordered the set menu in advance. Was a bit disappointed as i thought they’d be serving it one after the other. They placed all the food i ordered from the appetizer to the main course all at the same time. We were a bit pressured to eat them all at once and confused on which one to eat first. Other than that, food was great!!!

The pastas and appetizers are what they do best. We got the burratta which was fresh and light. Another appetizer which was fried and were made to look like French fries (but weren’t made of potato, I forget) was amazing and something I’ve never had before. The two pastas we had were al dente, seasoned well and on top of that also gorgeous to look at. When it came to the mains, we were left underwhelmed. Some of us thought the lamb shank tasted just like beef. This could be a good thing for some people but I personally enjoy a bit of gaminess in my lamb. As for the steak, don’t order it. It was very tough and just not worth it. Get more pastas instead!

Ideal as a date place since it’s quiet, invites you to either have a conversation with your companion or lose yourself in your gadget ( like the other guests
who were there when I tried this place) interior design is simple yet relaxing. Just need to make their signage a little bigger or visible especially when parking is full.
The lamb shank is braised and cooked with love as it melts in your mouth, all the flavors of the meat and spices meld and explode in your palate.
The risotto is al dente and this is where the flavor of the green peas is highlighted and complemented by the bacon. Servings are for sharing, can’t wait to try their pastA with clam and pair it with their wine selection.

I've been hearing about this place a couple of times already so my friend and I decided to try it out. Overall, the food is okay. I love the burrata. The carbonara.. not so much. It was too salty for me, with the prosciutto and the parmaggiano. The risotto is okay too. Portions are good, but the price is more on the steep side. I like their free bread and olive oil. It reminds me of Italianni's. The 4 rating is not because the food is bad, I think it's really good, but I can't help feeling that the taste is rather similar to each other. The carbonara could've used a spicy kick, the risotto is earthy in itself, but maybe something to flavor it more, the buratta is creamy and rich, just the way I like it, but I don't know about the oranges... I was half expecting a little salad since that would've complemented the buratta better.

We had the mozzarella burrata, spaghetti vongole veraci and lamb shank.

In terms of plating, they definitely have it. However, I didn’t see anything superb with their dishes, except that the lamb shank was perfectly cooked!

Flavor was so-so for the pasta, but the lamb shank again was a winner here. For the burrata, nothing special also.

I’d go probably go back though, to give their other dishes a chance.

Food: 3.5
Buratta - The buratta tasted fresh and had a nice texture. It would've been much better if it at least came with bread for you to eat it with or some prosciutto!

Carbonara with truffle shavings - I enjoyed this dish the most. However, the truffle shavings got over powered by all the other flavors in the carbonara like the pancetta. This is a great dish but a waste of truffle ☹️

Porkchop - The porkchop was cooked perfectly and was really soft. The couscous that came with it was great too. This dish tasted really clean and was presented well but it lacked anything exciting

Service: 4.5
Service was good and pretty standard yet systematic. We had no problem availing of our booky discount. Wouldn't hurt though if the waiters smiled a little more!

Had the burrata, the carbonara with truffle, and their risotto. Overall, the food was good, and it was a good meal, but I would say they're a tad overpriced. Not criminally overpriced, but I'd certainly say 470 for the burrata feels pretty steep. The pastas I could still accept at 300-400, the risotto is kind of overpriced at 540, but it is quite good.

The carbonara special they have on with truffle on top doesn't really work for me, the pancetta in the carbonara and the egg just distracts from the truffle and kind of makes it not stand out, it's just not really a pairing that works for either the carbonara or the truffle. Their complimentary bread is excellent, very soft. The risotto was nice and al dente, but could use more seafood.

All in all good food, but value for money is not entirely too high given the high prices. Would go again, but only on special occasions.

I've been several times to my "hidden gem" in Tomas Morato!

Service: Probably the best I had in all Metro Manila.
The two owners are constantly in the restaurant, one in the kitchen, one in the front of the house. That shows a lot, so many restaurant don't take service seriously, service in La Spezia is at the center of everything.
Keep it up !
Food: Really hard to describe, I would say there is a mix between classics of Italian gastronomy, a bit of fusion, a bit of unexpected things. I couldn't highlight one dish in particular since quality and taste are constantly at a high level. Servings are generous, dishes are simple.
Ambiance: Love it. Really feel at home, once again it's simple but there is no mistake.
Wines: Surprisingly good selection. They broke the rules by proposing mostly french wines which is really not expected in an italian inspired restaurant. But this is really wise. From their cheapest reds to their mid/high level you're not ripped off. Special mention for their St.Emilion references (they have several, from pure St.Emilion to Lussac, Montagne, Grand Cru). These are basically not my favourite wines but this selection offers very interesting and accurate pairings.
Prices: Good value for price, never felt ripped off. And wine prices are totally reasonable.

One of the only restaurant that has my 5 important points at a high level : Service, Food, Ambiance, Wines and Prices.

See you very soon there !

Edit : Tried their 2 desserts, absolutely fantastic !

Got to try La Spezia as a family dinner night just last night. If you're looking at aesthetics, this place has it. It has the classic old world charm that still feels fresh and modern. The location is near Cafe Romulo in a relatively quiet area.

Perhaps one of the main things that is quite a struggle with this place is the space. Not just the interior but even the parking. There is space for parking, but barely any if the place was jam packed, which it was. It was fortunate that we did manage to squeeze in somewhere in front. This doesn't even cover the interior space yet. Although the aesthetics is charming and even the lighting shows that warm and relaxed yellow lighting, it does not cover for how relatively cramped the place is if the place is full. The acoustics were a tad bit lacking as sound was bouncing off everywhere - though this could be fixed by adding a couple of paintings and fixtures and the like - that made it feel more cramped since you could hear conversations from other tables. Even the waiters had a hard time squeezing through occupied chairs. The lighting if well distributed throughout the floor space could improve the ambience as well though. However, on a non-peak time, this would be a great place to bring a date.

The food however was amazing. All of it in fact! For our starters we got the Burrata and the Garden Insalata. Both of it were delicious. The Burrata was full of various textures and tastes that mingle well together and explode in the mouth. The Garden Insalata was a lot. And it was fragrant and flavorful with each crunch that reminds you of how fresh it is. It's quite refreshing.

We next ordered their Spaghetti Alla Carbonara, Spaghetti Aglio Pesca, and Rissoto Classico. Their Carbonara is the real thing! Traditional and flavorful. Served with a poached egg to heighten the flavors and deepen the textures. Delicious! Their Pesca was no less impressive. The noddles were cooked al dente with each bite full of flavors - this being a challenge in itself with all oil based pastas. There was a tingling sensation as they made sure that there is always a hint of chili flakes. Their Rissoto, though seemingly plain as the word "classic" tends to pertain, was scrumptious. The layers of cheese could be tasted through and through as you are sure that it was prepared with love and generous supply of cheese that isn't too much that would make you get sick of the taste. It was refreshed with a supply of herbs cooked with it that prevents the cheese in the risotto to overwhelm. The wine that it is simmered in is a crucial help in all this. It would be good if it was simmered for a while longer though.

We had their Sogliola and Pesce from the Secondi section of their menu, both light and refreshing but still packed with flavors as fish dishes go. Wish there was more though. While the pastas may be good for sharing, I don't feel that the same is true for these two dishes. But it's worth trying. We had their Bistecca Alla Florentina which was simply a marvel. It was cooked to medium rare - though some parts were more of medium well. It was full of flavor and tender. The outermost layer even had a small crunch to it. Really delicious, ideal for sharing!

For our dessert, we had their Camicia Pear and their Zeppole. The Pear was good although there was a bitter part somewhere, probably why it's meant to be eaten with the gelato. I much prefer the Zeppole! Not only is it cute but it's also delicious. It's essentially "lemon-infused italian donuts" which are essentially deep fried (i think) donut balls resting on a strawberry coulis - which I think is some sort of reduction or jam. Delicious! Fragrant. A wonderful end to a wonderful dinner experience. So yes, though the place (and the price) isn't ideal, the food makes up for it. Ideal date night to celebrate momentous occasions!

New restaurant around Tomas Morato that is worth a try! 👍 Perfectly seasoned and cooked pasta and risotto. I love the ambiance and interiors too. Pricey but definitely worth a visit.

La Spezia is a fairly new restaurant at the Tomas Morato area. Inspired and named after a place in Italy, La Spezia offers mainly Italian dishes. We ordered the Saffron Risotto Con Capesante. There are not a lot of restaurants that serve risotto so I really enjoyed this dish. Saffron Risotto Con Capesante || Php 480

This is probably one of the latest addition to the long list of restaurant along Tomas Morato. I heard this store was just recently opened that is why I like to try it hence my review. Let me share this to my Looloo friends to try this place out. 😊

This store is located along Scout Lazcano. This place is hard to find at night since they have a very small signage and not very visible at night. If you are coming from Tomas Morato, you can turn on the side street where Alfredo's stand. It is stone throws away from Romulo's cafe. This is also located beside a derma clinic which is easier to spot than the signage of this restaurant. 😅

Their servers are well trained and well mannered. They would serve utensils, water and plates immediately after taking your order. The owner itself will be taking the order of your choice and would explain the dishes that you prefer. They also serve complimentary bread which I think they made it themselves. We were so hungry that we ordered additional serving of bread which cost 40php.

Burrata - 450php - the owner claimed that this dish is one of their bestsellers (a minimum of 10 servings per day), since I was curious on what type of dish this is, we gladly ordered one. It came out with one big ball of cheese, kernel corn and arugula which compliments the taste itself. The mozzarella di buffala came directly from Italy which isn't one ordinary cheese like what we are used to in Italian restaurants. The mozzarella is so soft and a little gooey. I am not sure how to eat this dish but I mixed them all up and the taste does not disappoint. It looks small but it sure is heavy in the stomach. I highly recommend this dish to everyone.

Spaghetti Pomodoro E Basilico - 470php - the serving was ample enough compared to Burrata as we were able to divide the dish into 3 equal parts. The dish smelled that that of jolly spaghetti. 😂 it was refreshing to the palate after having Burrata, in my humble opinion, I think this dish complements well with Burrata. The noodle itself seems freshly cooked too. The sauce was also just enough that it hugs every spaghetti with no excess, it looks like it was calculated precisely.

Ravioli Alla Blanc - 390php - this dish came last. What I was expecting was a lot of small ravioli but to my surprise it was one just big ravioli. The ravioli skin itself was thick which was good and the inside filled with generous amounts of spinach. *Yum! Will turn into Popeye anytime now* 😂 it would be better if you cut it in half first since there is an egg inside which I failed to mix along with my serving. This is probably the most heavy meal among the dishes that we ordered.

I highly recommend this place to everyone out there who are only dating or having their anniversary or just meeting up with friends. I prefer to go at night so that it won't be that hot outside or if you are able to reserve a place inside then it would be better. And bring a lot of money since this restaurant is quite pricey but you won't be able to taste it anywhere else.

The ambiance feels like #wheninItaly. What excites me to taste is their best seller Spaghetti Pomoddoro E Basilico (Chef's choice). ❤❤❤ Our 27th monthsary with my boyfriend became a romantic one because of the food we ordered. I really love their spaghetti alla carbonara, too.

They're on soft opening now but food and service are not bad at all. Ordered burrata, pollo arrosto (to die for), risotto classico and italian pavlova. Loved everything!

The food was great though a bit on the pricey side but the food was cooked with fresh ingredients so i think its worth it and the staff and owners were accommodating enough. We tried their ravioli, aglio pesca, burrata, and both desserts which were all satisfying.
