This place is AMAZING! Our family loves to eat here. The food is great! From appetizers to entrees. Pastas are delicious. Steaks are given with the right color to your liking. Drinks are fresh and there’s a minibar depending to your preferred drink. The staff is wonderful and the restrooms are clean. Totally a great experience. Would recommend any day of the week.

A popular watering hole. We ordered different kinds of pica pica and they were good. You wont notice much if you’re with good company. We ate al fresco, and they have a nice spot. Bgc is good for al fresco dining. Try it!
Very much enjoyed our experience. The food was really good and the service was splendid! Hope they will have a branch in the south area soon! 😊
We often frequent Bistro restaurants being a Bistro card holder, so we decided to try Village Tavern in BGC.
Service: Similar to other Bistro groups, their service was good. It was also nice to see the manager going around and checking on the tables.
Food: I tried the Chicken Paella which I just love. I cannot get over how good this is. The sangria's are good too! I like that they have a discounted rate before 7PM and a new promo 7PM onwards.
We did notice though that the burger sliders were cold and the bread didnt seem as new or fresh. We wished there was more consistency with the quality of food.
Ambiance: It has a nice ambiance with mood lighting. The temperature was also nice and comfortable.
Generally, it was an enjoyable stay. Would definitely go back again soon.
Would normally come here after a long day at the office to get some Tavern Sangria. One of the best in BGC!
They also have lunch offerings that you might want to try out. Service and ambiance is also a big plus. It's one of the quieter restaurants in BGC where you can actually have a decent conversation with friends.

We were here on a Wednesday afternoon we were able to enjoy their happy hour cocktails 50% off from mojito, margaritas etc
I love the food here! Its flavourful and always good for sharing
The round one is definitely the best. The Creamy Pesto that they offered is one of the tastiest Pesto I've tasted.
Food - 5. Great Food!
Ambiance - 4. Chill vibes.
Service - 4. Attentive, Friendly and Accomodating.
Haven't got the chance to identify what I ate as I just attended my lead's birthday party there. Will definitely give it a shot for another try.
We both had a free time my friend use to work as a real estate senior consultant manager and she's been super busy. That's why I am grateful she was available during this time. Originally we were just planning to have wine, by my suprise she ordered a lot. Full review in a bit.
One of my favorite place in High Street. I almost ordered everything in the menu. A place to go with Family and Friends. I come here maybe once every 2months and I always go home happy and satisfied.
We had our team lunch here. Had a reservation and some colleagues went earlier here than most of us to order. So when we arrived the food is almost ready! Chowtime!
We had the tavern flatbread (3 stars), black pizza (5 stars), southern platter ( 5 stars) chicken and chipotle chops platter (2 stars)!
Ribs and monterey was just heavenly good! Must try! I dont like their flatbread maybe because I’m not into tomato based pizza much. Their black pizza was good and tasty! The chicken, hence fried chicken though taste like ordinary chicken i can buy on ministop or 7 eleven. Not worth the price.
This restaurant is kinda on the expensive side, but if you want some great ribs, this restaurant is a must try! Crews are attentive but sometimes slow.
A place where everything tastes good. From pasta to their awesome black pizza..
The ambiance is very cozy and spacious. You’ve got wide range of food choices on the menu - good bar cocktails. I’d go here over and over ...
Hands down for great food! Its definitely worth going back to (and By that I mean, I’m willing to drive all the way from Fairview) because it will not disappoint.

We had a wonderful experience at Village Tavern. Our orders; Burger Quesadillas, Kale Salad, and Chicken Pesto Pasta, all exceeded expectations. Service is amazing too as everyone who we came across with are nice and attentive. I also like the vibe of the restaurant. Next time, as i am sure i will be coming back again, i will try their wines and other best seller menu options.
This day was the day we had our photoshoot at BGC. And our guest for the day was my good friend Rannie who gladly shared this platter with us after a long and hot day. It was also a day before the 2018 election when we had the shoot. I had a discount voucher from Globe, unfortunately we were unable to use it since the voucher is not valid on special occasions. Since we are already tired from walking and hungry for a while, we just dined here and ordered the shareable platters at P1,195 (excluding SC). We also wanted to pair it with wine unfortunately alcohol ban is in effect.
Village Tavern seems like an Old Classic American (or South American) restaurant with simple but sleek interiors. We only tried their Thai Chicken Salad, Baked Potatoes and Fried Chicken during our visit but I heard they are known for their flatbreads and pizzas. We got to VT thanks to the very inviting promo ad outside the resto and since we have our Bistro Group Card, we decided to try it. Unfortunately, the manager did not even know of their promo. Aside from that, everything else were smooth. I liked their salad (considering I am not a fan of salads) while their fairly-flavored and juicy fried chicken is one of the best in my opinion. Serving sizes are fair, Service is good and Pricing is just right. Thus, my 4/5 rating (Plus VT is my new favorite amongst the Bistro Group restaurants).
Their pasta is so good. I’m not a fan of spicy food but the spiciness of these pasta is exactly what I want. Price is worth for a big serving. Delectable food and nice environment to eat.
There are new additions to Village Tavern's menu which I didn't hesitate to try out. Apart from the great food selection, I just love the ambiance. Stylish but not overdone, it's a good place for business meetings, date night, or for hanging out with friends after work. Here's what I tried at Village Tavern.
Southern Shrimp and Grits
One of my favorites among the new items on their menu. Shrimps, bacon, mushroom, and corn grits all together in a plate of delectable sauce. I can't get enough of it!
Brick Chicken
Among the dishes I tried here, I must say the brick chicken goes at the top of my list. I just love how juicy and flavorful it is.
Mushroom and Goat Cheese Flatbread
This one's OK. All the cheese made it taste really good.
Braised Short Ribs
Nothing out of lalaland, but it was tender and good overall.
I had a great dining experience and would definitely go back for the chicken and southern shrimp and grits. Just like the food, service is also great at Village Tavern.
Village Tavern is my current favorite amongst all bistro group of restaurants. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Their food is really good specially their Black Pizza! Although the place is definitely not cheap, their food has a touch of class and sophistication.
I'm giving Village Tavern a 4.0 for its simple yet comforting dishes. We ordered spaghetti and plum tomatoes, and the taste reminded me of home. Serving size was a bit small for two. The Black Pizza, on the other hand, was tasty, and it was baked to perfection even if I'm not a huge fan of processed meat like bacon and pepperoni. I didn't like their sangria because it was too strong for me. The complimentary bread was okay too.
A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to try some of the new dishes that Village Tavern just introduced a few weeks ago. I enjoyed the food, but medyo bitin, so we went back to have dinner there a few days later. Village Tavern Scratch Kitchen + Craft Bar is a mid-to-upper range restaurant located on Bonifacio High Street in BGC, in that area with the amphitheater beside Central Square.
It claims to offer Southern (American) cooking, but looking at the menu, it felt more Italian than Southern.
The food is very good, with the price tag to match. The steak
My girlfriends and I were here for the Sangria, so I was not expecting good food to be served.Baked Potato SkinsTavern NachosThai Chicken SaladSpaghetti Al VongoleBlack PizzaEverything we ordered did not disappoint. Baked potato skins is great tasting, I want more of it. Nachos are just okay. Initially, we wanted Grilled Prawn Avocado Salad, but either the prawn or the avocado was unavailable at the time. We got Thai Chicken Salad instead, and still a good choice. I remembered I thoroughly enjoyed the spaghetti, because I keep coming back for more. Black Pizza has an interesting taste, too.The restaurant's interior is perfect for girl-bonding moments. Not too loud, not to bright, either.
Village Tavern has been in the food industry for 6 years now, I guess it’s because of the quality of their food and of course good customer service. I don’t have any idea why until now they only have one branch, which is located at Bonifacio High Street in Taguig City. Village Tavern is an american restaurant chain in the United States, thanks to The Bistro Group because we can fully enjoy this restaurant without even flying all the way to the US. They said this is their only branch outside the United States.
Come thru the Village Tavern for an excellent meal and all essential core built was made from scratch. That’s pretty rare to most restaurants nowadays and it does make a difference in taste and meal satisfaction after every bite.
Ambiance and overall interior is pretty inviting and would make you want to stay for hours and order that next bottle of wine.

Village Tavern offers the classic American southern cuisine served in a warm and straightforward atmosphere. Consider this place as the more prominent brother of Friday’s. A concept of what an Old World Taven stands for as a place to source information, entertainment, and nourishment. True to its name, this restaurant is one of our secret refuege place after our long day of work. The place is relaxing, food is always wonderful and the crowd is vibrant yet not rowdy.
Food American Cuisine in platters! Great Food. my Favorite was the Black Pizza and the Chicken.
Staff We came inside the restaurant without anyone approaching us, maybe because we are in our casual wear????
Ambiance Spacious and open kitchen was nice and modern.
Location Hard to see unless you're a frequent customer
Price Expensive.

Food is a definite 5/5. We had their mushroom and goat cheese flatbread. The tomatoes on their pizza are soo juicy.
Their beef short ribs are so soft and hits the spot. The beans that come with it really ties it together.
The highlight for the meal for me was definitely the Souther Shrimp and Grits, which had shrimp, mushroom, bacon, and corn grits. It's unlike anything I've tried before. I'm coming back here for this dish.
Celebrating its 6th anniversary this April 2018, Village Tavern introduces new southern-style American dishes in a Zomato Foodie Meet-up. From dough to sauce, all these comfort food were made from scratch!. I gobbled up the crispy thin Mushroom and Goat Cheese Flatbread (PHP 450), having more slices than my diet could allow. The margherita tomatoes were really fresh, providing a sweet, umami contrast against the creamy goat cheese. Ughhh!
I recommend the following dishes:
Roast Beet Salad is mostly made up of Romaine Lettuce, onions and of course, red beets along with white cheese splashed with vinaigrette. You can tell that Village Tavern always uses fresh ingredients. The lettuce is crunchy and the vinaigrette gives it a tangy flavor which is balanced by the white cheese.
Mushroom and Goat Cheese Flatbread (this is the name they use instead of “pizza”). The food is cut up into squares. It is baked thin crust and you can tell it is well baked because of its crunchiness, telling you it was prepared just right.
Braised Short Ribs. It sat on mashed potatoes adorned with vegetables on the side. The meat is cooked right – tender and still juicy. The meat easily came off the bone when cut with a knife.
I could assume their steak is prepared this way too.
Brick Chicken. It is chicken baked and prepared the same way as the Braised Short Ribs having mashed potatoes and vegetables. The texture is just like the beef and tender when eaten.
Southern Shrimp and Grits. The shrimps had their shells removed and are served with pureed corn. Just like the other meals before, it is cooked just right and the grits (a staple in the American South), is also cooked well.
Clam Chowder. It is New England style. This is truly made in Village Tavern’s kitchen, not from a can of Campbell’s soup. The clams and vegetables are “genuine” and the soup’s creaminess is just right. This combination makes for a great-tasting soup.
I look forward trying their steaks the next time I drop by.
the black pizza was just that, pizza nothing really extraordinary but their pizzas are nice. especially their burgers!!♡♡ also when they had the unli sangria the server was very nice to accommodate us and give us extra glasses when it was nearly the end of the unli sangria♡
Overall decent food with an okay staff, service is quite slow in terms of serving food. Servers disappear sometimes when customers need them. They should be spread out and more alert.
Place is good for sharing food.
My sister and I had been in search for the best steak in BGC and our feet brought us to this resto. We ordered New York Strip Steak, Seafood Pasta and Artichoke Sourdough Pizzete. I so love the steak, juicy and tender. It was so far the best steak I’ve ever tried. Quite pricey though but one order is already good for two. You’ll definitely get your money’s worth. Their seafood pasta and pizzete were ok but a little dry. We should have not ordered other meals because the steak alone already satisfied our hunger. Overall, we were happy with our experience.
What happens when 3 girlfriends meet up to welcome an imported kumare whom we have not seen in years?
We cheat......
Just cheated over the weekend. Now cheating again on a Tuesday. What diet ? huhuhu
First time to dine here and really loved the food! We ordered ribeye steak. It was really juicy and tender. No need for any steak sauce as the meat was very tasty. Quite pricey. Nevertheless, you get your money's worth. 👍🏻 service was great. Staff are attentive despite having a lot of customers to serve. Very fancy ambiance perfect for date nights and formal family gatherings.
Been here with my friend.. The place is good and Their salad are great... Love it much... Hope to be here again soon... Good job and kudos to to everyone...
It was my first time to have a dough which is color black, of all colors -- black. But the taste was not weird at all. I am a fan of pizza and pasta combination, and it turned out the burger blended well with our order. Just that we were full immediately and was not able to finish, hence... take-out. Try their pesto which is rich in cheese and basil.
I'll give a thumbs-up for a nice tavern interior. You have the options of sitting inside, outside, and at the bar. Place is well-ventilated and very roomy with lots of breathing room.
Spaghetti Al Vongole had delicious clams. Both pastas we tried were actually good, but this one was more noteworthy. Pizza was fair but not the best I've tried. I like that the Classic Cheeseburger comes in two sizes. It was pretty good and the beef was juicy and tasty. Its fries had a lovely crunch outside and was soft and hot inside. Ahi Tuna & Potato Salad is love! Calamari is no-frills.
Service was great! Thank you to the staff for singing for the occasion.
I didn't note the names of the food items on-site but I'm sure with half the names. I compared the rest with the menu names and ingredients.
Another restaurant from the Bistro Group (Italiannis, Watami, Bulgogi Brotthers and etc.) is the Village Tavern, its one and only branch is located at Bonifacio High Street Central in Bonifacio Global City. Actually, it’s my first time at Village Tavern. We went here with some fellow zomato foodies for lunch. They have this All-American Tavern Lunch that is available from Monday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
We visited this place out of plan today but it was worth it for 2 reasons: 1. We were able to use our Globe Rewards which gave us 500php off our bill, 2. Finally, I was able to have a taste of the Black Pizza I was planning to eat since early this year (it was actually their best seller among pizzas and it was so good) I want to commend the staff for being accomodating and proactive. I like that they have a compliment bread given while we waited for our orders. Also the Texan Ribs were so flattering in my taste buds, it was just the right tenderness and you can savour the goodness of the ribs. Reagarding the ambiance, it was a cozy one, especially when you are seated on those couches on the side.
I like the somewhat medieval name Village Tavern that I used to hear from movies and online games - a place for chillin and drinking and having fun. By the looks of it, the place is indeed a good place to hang out - nice cozy and warm - no wonder I see a lot of executives chillin out at the bar area and some taking their lunch at the comfy seats. Take note that this is also part of the bistro group so it is by no surprise that you will have an awesome dining treat at this place.
Since it was lunch time, we had the All American Tavern Lunch specials which they serve only during the afternoon between 11am to 3pm, and on weekdays. You can choose from these four deals:
1. Texan Barbeque Ribs for 425Php - classic fall of the bone meat and smokey barbeque flavor with sides. Ribs have always been a crowd favorite especially if cooked and seasoned well.
2. Tavern Fried Chicken for 350Php - Huge serving, crispy fried and juicy on the inside that comes with a thick gravy.
3. Grilled Chipotle Pork Chop for 395Php - perfectly seasoned tender pork meat. Reminds you of a southern american flavor because of the chipotle glaze and their version is really good.
4. Panko Crusted Fish Fillet for 350Php - the breading is well crisped and the fish is light and tasty and goes pretty well with the dressing. A must try.
We would not want to miss the tavern experience without having tried the "Eats from the Bar" so on top of the scrumptious lunch, we savoured these wonderful treats. We had the Baked Potato Skins for 275Php that looks like a cup filled with cheese, herbs and bacon, the VT Onion Bloom for 225Php - a huge onion crafted like a flower that is really good with that mild sweetness, the Burger Quesadilla for 395Php, the Chorizo Cheese Fondue for 275Php - tortilla chips you can dip on a tasty and cheesy yummy dip, the Tavern Calamari for 350Php - perfectly cooked squid rings and the Mushroom Artichoke Sourdough Pizzette for 295Php - a tarty dough with a delicious top. I'd say all of these eats from the bar are plated so nicely and very appealing - instagrammable it is, not to mention the serving size that is plenty. My personal favorite would be the burger quesadilla - not the usual burger in a bun but it was well seasoned, shredded and filled inside a tortilla.
Coolers are also available to match your savory feast. They offer different infusions of cranberry juice mixed with watermelon cucumber, peach mango and orange pineapple depends on your preference but equally are refreshingly good.
Overall, it was a wonderful treat from VT. Great service and ambiance so I am definitely coming back soon. Kudos!
Right now, Village Tavern offers All American Tavern Lunch from Mondays - Fridays at 11am - 3pm. Perfect for people who's looking for a different take on their usual lunch meals. Here's what we tried.
Texan Barbecue Ribs - Tender, juicy and fall off the bone meat. The barbecue sauce were evident in every bite. Also come in with rice and vegetables.
Tavern Fried Chicken - Fried to perfection chicken. This comes with gravy and vegetables on the side.
Grilled Chipotle Pork Chop - What makes this memorable was the chipotle glaze. They're perfect combo. One of the best dish they have in my opinion. I can eat this in one whole
week as lunch.
Panko Crusted Fish Fillet - The fish that was fried with panko breadcrumbs. This tasted delicious with creamy sauce drizzled on it.
We also get to try their 'Eats from the Bar' which is perfect for your mug of beer or cocktails.
Onion Bloom - New look to your usual Onion Rings. Whole Onion was cut to make it 'bloom' and deep fried with batter. It really smells good and it tasted good as well. Dip it in ranch to have that extra flavor of goodness.
Baked Potato Skin - Topped with herbs and bacon bits. Anything with bacon for me is superb!
Mushroom Artichoke Sourdough Pizette - Just like pizza, this is flatbread topped with cheese , bacon bits and artichokes.
Burger Quesadilla - I love quesadilla and burger so this just hit two birds in one stone. Delicious!
Chorizo Cheese Fondue - My favorite of all bar chow. It was creamy, cheesy and just plain heavenly!
Tavern Calamari - Fried to perfection. I was happy as it was soft and not rubbery as what most squids are.
I also got to try their Peach Mango Cranberry and it was refreshingly good!
Also, I highly suggest you try their Virgin White and Red Sangria. You get to have the flavor of a Sangria minus the alcohol content.
Village Tavern is a franchise restaurant from The Bistro Group family. Its concept was designed to bring customers to a modern tavern setting for a gathering for great American food, crafted drinks, and entertainment. Since I frequent High Street, this restaurant is no stranger to me. I've been meaning to try it ever since I first saw it because of its intriguingly appealing exteriors that's persistently trying to draw me in. Now, I finally let myself succumb to the temptation and end it once and for all.
We had management meeting here once and reserved tables for 20. With that size and budget you'd expect them to be at least considerate of your reservation when a few ran late. Instead a wait staff gave the table to a group of 4 and said they may have to give the replacement table as well after the 30 min grace. Hello! Half of us were there already! Drinking, ordering! Not like they had a waiting line; or that we didn't have a timeframe for the reserved tables.
Apart from that, the rest of the experience was just fine. Fortunately the lady who waited on me wasn't as snob as the guy and was in fact accommodating.
Half the food we ordered were almost very good, just almost. The other half was just ok (like the flat bread). There was nothing bad, at least (I got to try at least 4 dishes as there were three orders in excess - ribs, burger, pasta).
I wouldn't count the other time I was here because what we ate was the lamest thing Erwan has concocted and the rest were from Tom and Henry Herbert for a TLC shot.
Price-wise, not the friendliest. Because you are supposedly paying for quAlity food and service.
I do recommend their cocktails though, during happy hour (buy 1 get 1 free), otherwise its also not for a budgetie. Its not meant to be.
Village Tavern offers a wide variety of American dishes that gives you a feel good dining experience that definitely hits the spot.
Place was pretty big with dimmed lighting. There is a bar upfront as you enter the tavern. Now that's a definite good sign for me.
And now for the food. Here are some of my recommendations:
VT Onion Bloom (225.00 php)
- I bet you have already seen this on Tastemade but looks better in person. A great way to cook onions to look very presentable.
Burger Quesadilla (395.00 php)
- As a burger person, I definitely digging this out. Well-sesasoned ground meat wrapped around in a tortilla is always welcome for me.
Baked Potato Skins (275.00 php)
- This is definitely one hot potato that I wouldn't miss out. The ranch and the bacon bits bring this up a notch.
Chorizo Cheese Fondue (275.00 php)
- That cheesy goodness mixed with Chorizo gives it a nice twist.
And then, there is The All-American Tavern Lunch. Only available Mondays to Fridays from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Here's what you can try on:
Texan Barbeque Ribs (425.00 php) -
One of their best sellers. That savory taste with meat that falls out of the bone makes you crave for more.
Grilled Chipotle Pork Chop (395.00 php)
- Tender and well- seasoned meat makes this one of my favorites in the list
Tavern Fried Chicken (350.00 php)
- That crunchy goodness of the chicken is something to look forward to.
Panko Crusted Fish Fillet (350.00 php)
- Tired of the usual meat on lunchtime, then this is a great alternative.
We had a wonderful time in Village Tavern and I'm looking forward to go back. I also wish they have a branch at the northern side of the metro.

Like the taverns of old, the Village Tavern offers a wide variety of food and drink to satisfy any hungry guest.
Eats from the Bar:
1) VT Onion Bloom (P225)
Take the traditional onion rings cooking technique, chop up the whole onion instead so the ends spread like flower petals, and fry it up. The result is a crunchy, peppery blossom of onion-y goodness.
2) Tavern Calamari (P350)
Crunchy squid rings served in ranch or tomato dipping sauces. I prefer squeezing some lemon juice on top for more flavor.
3) Baked Potato Skins (P275)
One of my favorites among the appetizers, this is proof that leaving the potato skins on is how its supposed to be. The skins have a slightly crunch to them, contrasting with the creamy ranch sauce and crunchy bacon bits.
4) Chorizo Cheese Fondue (P275)
The saltiness of the melted cheese contrasts with the slight spice of the chorizo. All of it goes well with the crunchy tortilla chips served with the dip.
5) Mushroom Artichoke Sourdough Pizzette (P295)
Healthy and happy! Sliced and baked bread topped with creamy cheese and soft and flavorful mushrooms and artichokes.
6) Burger Quesadilla (P395)
Another one of my favorites, with the meat warm and flavorful and snugly wrapped in a crunchy grilled tortilla.
The All-American Tavern Lunch (Mondays-Fridays 11 AM-3 PM):
1)Texan Barbeque Ribs (P425)
The saucy meat falls off the bone and is packed with flavor.
2)Tavern Fried Chicken (P350)
Crunchy chicken served with a thick, creamy gravy. Love the fried rice that comes with it too.
3) Grilled Chipotle Pork Chop (P395)
This thick slab of meat is cooked well, and each bite is juicy and tender.
4) Panko Crusted Fish Fillet (P350)
The fish is mild and the panko breadcrumbs offer a nice crunch to it. Best enjoyed with some squeezed lemon juice.
Drinks:
Cranberry Twists (P135 for Orange Pineapple Cranberry, Peach Mango Cranberry, and Watermelon Cucumber Cranberry)
These are some of the Village Tavern's new offerings, with the Peach Mango Cranberry as my favorite. There is the right amount of sweetness and flavor present in the drink, with only a slight sour note due to the cranberry wrapping it up.
BEST happy hour place in BGC, especially if you have the BFF Card (worth it for this resto alone). Their sangrias are the best - tip: you can ask them to make it a bit stronger to your liking. Food is a bit pricey, but worth it for the giant servings and outstanding quality.
The truffle burger was okay. I would recommend the pandan lemonade - it's sweet and perfect for the meal! We also ordered steak and an appetizer that had shrimp. It was also delicious. Perfect place to go with friends and family. They have television so we also spent time watching while eating.
Full review and experience to follow soon.

My boyfriend and I ate dinner here just last Saturday. I love the place. It's cozy and people are very friendly. The food was great. I love their homemade jalapeno poppers and the RIBs... my fave so far. It was soo tender and it melts in your mouth. The bbq sauce is a plus but you really dont need it because its already tasty. Their free chips with salsa dip is a big plus plus. I cant take my hands of it. The salsa was spicy but I got addicted with its spiciness. I will definitely go back here.
The only negative thing I noticed is that the table was not organized as it should be. The inner part of resto is a bit crowded. You really have to be careful not to bump into customers table/chair.

Village Tavern is an American Restaurant Chain established in 1984 in North Carolina. It was brought in by The Bistro Group who's also responsible for giving us restaurants like Friday's, Bulgogi Brothers, and Itallanis.
Village Tavern has changed a lot since i first ate here. It is now more "family friendly", a good place for lunch, and even after-hour drinks.
The food was plentiful, and the service was great. A few standouts are the: Spaghetti Al Vongole; Shrimp and Grits; Main Street Platter: (3 Pieces of Fried Chicken, Grilled Porkchops, a Kani Salad Wrap and Marbled potatoes); and High Street Platter (3 Pieces of Grilled Monterey Chicken, Porcetta, Fish Tacos, and Marbled Potatoes). Their extensive menu ensures that definitely something for everyone.
My visit was sponsored by the group as part of their marketing and celebration of the restaurants fifth anniversary.
This is my all time favorite restaurant! The ambience of the restaurant were above average, a kind of urban classy-ness that I liked. I loved the antler horn theme that surrounded the place, giving out this tavern-ish kind of atmosphere. The service was really good and all of the staff were very responsive. The food exceeded my already high expectations. I loved the Monterey Chicken and the Thai Salad thingy the most. They give reasonable amount of serving with their food. A bit pricey but you really get what you pay for.
For a nice late lunch, me and bunch of other foodie friends we’re invited to Village Tavern in BGC High Street. Located just in the middle of their main dining avenue, Village Tavern is an American concept brought over to the Philippines by The Bistro Group. They serve hearty American food with European and tex-mex influences. This is a casual dining restaurant that is a little more upscale, according to their marketing team they have completely refurbished the resutarant and adjusted the menu in order to cater to a larger market who want good food at a reasonable price.
The general vibe of the restaurant was like a modern take on the great outdoors. The rustic décor and the landscape murals conjure image of vast farms and great food for sharing with family and friends. Here’s the rundown:
Kani Salad: I didn’t expect to find a good Japanese inspired salad in a Western Bistro but I guess great things come in unexpected places. Their Kani Salad is topped with a helpful of shredded Kani on top of a bed of cabbage, tomatoes, and some egg. The dressing was based heavily on Japanese mayo and crab fat, two ingredients that work perfectly to accentuate each other’s flavour. The result was a crisp and creamy salad loaded with delicious crab flavour.
Spaghetti Al Vongole: Probably the biggest hit among my fellow diners was this pasta dish but on first sight it didn’t look as impressive presentation wise compared to the other dish. Similar to how Vongole Pastas are usually prepared, the pasta was naked and the flavour was hidden in plain sight through the oil based sauce which they cooked it along with some fresh looking seashells. However, don’t let the first look fool you, aside from being a well-seasoned dish that savoury, oceanic flavour of mussels, clams, and other seafood coated each strand of pasta. We were so delighted with this dish that we asked for 2 more plates. Although, it’s not the best Vongole out there it’s dangerously close!
Shrimp and Grits: Now were getting to something a little more familiar to western cuisine. Filipinos are not quite accustomed to grits because this is Rice country, but in the US and latin America Grits, which is a corn product is a common staple in the countryside. The flavour is typically very neutral but their Grits were quite similar to well… skyflakes? That might seem like an awkward analogy but to me it really taste like mushy skyflakes. The addition of shrimp and other toppings like mushroom as well as butter added a lot of pleasant flavour to the dish. Its quite simple but delicious nonetheless.
Buffalo Beef Burger: This is not your run of the mill burger, even though it got a little cold from being photographed for more than an hour (the fries were gone by that time) it still maintained that juicy texture (cooked just perfect medium rare) and the deep, beefy taste that you can only get in angus patties. The patty itself was really thick and the melted cheese was still able to inject a nice blanket of cheesy goodness into the burger. Although it’s a little small for the price, the flavour and the quality of the ingredients makes it worth it.
The main attraction of this feast were two gorgeous and delectable platter whose name takes inspiration from BGC itself
The Main Street Platter: This platter was composed of 3 Pieces of Fried Chicken, Grilled Porkchops, a Kani Salad Wrap and Marbled potatoes, served in a wooden platter, and the serving is enough to feed 3-5 people. This platter is pretty much the ultimate cheat meal, for P1150 you get three unique yet familiar crowd pleasing dishes. You can surely find something you’ll love. For the kids and the young at heart, you will surely love their crispy fried chicken, deep fried to golden perfection. The look and the taste might reminded me of a Chickenjoy (lol), I guess the managed to snatch that recipe and perfect it. Those who crave for something more hearty will like their grilled porchops which are slathered with a sticky sweet sauce. These porkchops managed to retain a delicate tenderness that the back of a spoon could easily cut through it. The southern style seasoning that persited in the sauce really gave it a taste that harkened back to its all american roots.
However, the kani wrap wasn’t as remarkable as the other two but i still appreciated the reappropriation of the elements in the kani salad into a wrap. This dish is also perfect for those who want a healtier but delicious alternative.
High Street Platter: For those who want something a little bit more special, you can get their High Street Platter(P1350). You get 3 Pieces of Grilled Monterey Chicken, Porcetta, Fish Tacos, and Marbled Potatoes.
Each dish was special on its own but there was certianly an rustic element which brought each dish together (Think of a weekend get together). The chicken was roasted well, albeit portions we’re a little small. This was compensated at the fantastic seasoning which penetrated deep knto the chicken flesh. You could certainly savor that smoky, peppery flavor with each bite. The Porcetta on the other hand was just marvelous. The roasted pork loin had a paper-thin crispy halo of skin which surrounded the juicy tenderloin meat and the aromatic filling in the middle. Each layer provided a unique texture and flavor which showcased the versatility of good quality pork. Yet again, the tortilla dish was the least remarkable on all. Although the fish was tender on the outside and moist on the inside it felt a little generic compared to the other two. All in all it coudlve been perfect if there was just a mush attention paid on the pescatarian dish as the other two and a more zesty and unique dish could probably justify the prices of both platters a little bit more.
Aside from serving hearty foods they also have an extensive drinks menu which includes red and white wine bottle service, liquor, and beer. They also have their own cocktails, jucies, and smoothies inspired by fresh fruits and greens. I had their Mango Tavern Mojito and it was just lovely. The addition of mangoes to the medley of tequila, lime juice, soda, and mint definitely gave it a more summery feel and a uniqely Filipino twist.
Overall, Village Tavern was a fantastic casual western restaurant that serves top of the line comofrt food midway between exorberant and affordable. This restaurant certainly has a more refined edge compared to other similar spots from the ambience, presentation, and overall experience. I have nothing but compliments to their wonderful service and the complate amenities which include washrooms and WiFi. The prices are a little steeper sp be prapered but its all worth it!
Rating: 3.75
As a foodie, I often find myself torn between reading food reviews to give me a background on a restaurant's menu or just winging it and not knowing what to expect of the place's food. I often find the latter experience more enjoyable, relaxing and it makes my own reviews more organic.
The name itself piques one's curiosity. I am not entirely familiar of the place but it was nice to know it is part of the famed Bistro Group. The affiliation itself assures me I am in for an adventurous treat.
Village Tavern Scratch Kitchen and Craft Bar covers a wide expanse of the second level of Bonifacio Hight Street Central. Quite easy to spot and you can opt to enjoy the outdoor dining area or treat yourself inside with a view of their bar and kitchen. Staff are quite accommodating, and were attentive to our every request.
Village Tavern prides itself in serving classic American cuisine served in a warm, comfortable amd inviting atmosphere. The place does feel posh and cozy at the same time!
We were presented a whole array of mouthwatering American fare. I say mouthwatering because that's exactly what I felt when they laid out all these dishes at our table!
* Spicy Crab Salad
- Heaped with strips of kani on top that perfectly contrasted the crunchy fresh greens and the tangy ranch dressing.
* Spaghetti al Vongole
- This is Manila clams sauteed in garlic, onions, white wine and chili, tossed with al dente spaghetti. The white wine sauce was divine and the pasta stayed absolutely firm to the bite even after all that time it took for us to photograph the dishes. The heat from the chili was a welcome touch as it provided a more distinct flavor to this pasta dish. We loved this so mich we had to ask for one more serving of it!
*Shrimp and Grits
- Presented in a cast-iron skillet, you will see pieces of well-cooked shrimps in a bed of grits or cornmeal mash and cheese. I didn't know cornmeal can be this good and cheesy! You know me, I love everything with cheese!
*Buffalo Mozzarella Burger
- Juicy beef patty is made from wagyu beef, with mozzarella and served with a side of fries. The mozzarella just made this the bomb!
Each of this platters are presented beautifully on a wooden tray, and has generous portions of Village Tavern favorites.
High Street Platter
- For P1,350, you get 3 pieces of porchetta, 3 pieces of Monterey chicken, 2 huge crispy fish tacos, with roasted marble potatoes drenched in yummy gooey cheese sauce. The porchetta was tender, the skin gave a satisfying crispy crackle when you bite into it and the aromatics and herbs used were so on point. I also love the fish tacos because the fish remained flaky and flavorful.
Main Street Platter
- This one is pegged at P1,150 and has large helpings of wrapped kani salad, classic country fried chicken and Texan porkchops. This also comes complete with the roasted marble potatoes in cheese sauce. The porkchops were juciy and satisfying while the chicken, albeit the nagging similarity to a certain fastfood chain, has a crispy crunchy skin and is not overcooked.
Being a tavern, they have an extensive wine selection and copious amounts of liquior and beer. Of course, they also serve non-alcoholic concoctions like what I chose to have - the Green Harvest. This is a luscious mix of pineapple and green apple, made healthier with malunggay. It's a great way to refresh after all these sumptious offerings!
Head on to Village Tavern for when you want to impress a date, treat the team to a big hearty lunch or dinner, or to simply unwind after the end of a busy day. I find myself wanting to go back and sample a bit more of their hearty meals with the boo or with the family. It's a relaxing indulgent place that's sure to be a new family favorite.
The first time I went to Village Tavern was around late last year when I had to cover a bloggers' event that was held there. Unfortunately, I was not able to sample their dishes so I figured this foodie meet-up by Zomato was a good opportunity to finally try their food.
Opened since 2012 (yes, they're on their fifth year already!) under The Bistro Group (TGIFridays, Italianni's, Denny's), this is their first branch that is outside the U.S. What to expect? Well, they have an 8-page menu, then there's a separate menu for drinks so yes, they offer a whole array of American dishes with twists!
My favorites would be: the Spicy Crab Salad (surprise!), the Shrimp & Grits, the fish tacos and porchetta in the High Street Platter, and the wrapped kani salad and Texan pork chops in the Main Street Platter.
The Spicy Crab Salad was a sure winner for me because of hefty amount of kani in it as well as the flavorful spicy crab ranch dressing! For a salad, it's almost too sinful! Haha! I've never actually had Shrimp & Grits before, it's not widely available locally (or maybe I just don't know where to look?) and the closest I've ever been to it was watching it being made on MasterChef US (apparently a Southern comfort food). Grits are actually small broken grains of corn. The texture was a bit odd to me at first but I really liked it. I loved the shrimp and the buttery-cheesiness of the grits! The Porchetta was savory, tender and juicy, with that perfect pork crackle, just how I've imagined it would be. I've been served porchetta with more fat than meat before, which was really nakakaumay, but this one is miles away from that. The Fish Tacos had some nice heat to it that made me take a couple of bites eat an entire piece! Lastly, the Texan Pork Chops, though nothing extraordinary with its smokey barbecue flavor, was very, very tender.
Another point I'd like to give them props is the presentation of their food. I loooved the rustic theme, from the cast iron skillet to the big wood slabs instead of plates. *clap*clap*clap*
I've been living in QC for a while now so going to BGC is something that's at the bottom part of my list but Village Tavern and all their selection of wonderful meats and delicious dishes just makes me want to go back again (and again), preferably with friends!
One of the best FMU I attended. The food is excellent, the service is great and they also have a wonderful ambiance. You can also stay here to unwind and work as well. They have a great location just beside the Globe Iconic Theatre. I loved all the food served here especially the vongole pasta which everyone loved so much. The burger was tasty, the fried chicken was crispy and good as well.
Village Tavern offers an extensive Western menu. From their range of delicious pasta, tasty meat, and various wines and cocktails, you'd never run out of choices. I was invited here for a foodie meet-up last week as they marked their 5th year anniversary in the Philippines.
The highlight of this meet-up were the High Street Platter and the Main Street Platter —
🍽 High Street Platter (1,350php) consists of 3 pcs. porchetta, Monterey chicken, 2 pcs. crispy fish tacos served with roasted potatoes topped with cheese sauce.
🍽 Main Street Platter (1,150php) consists of 2 pcs. Texan porkchops, classic fried chicken, 3 pcs. wrapped kani salad, also served with roasted potatoes topped with cheese sauce.
I'm a proud carnivore so I enjoyed the porchetta and the porkchops, the meat were tender and very tasty. The chicken though is just like your usual chicken, which you yourself can make at home. I think these platters bring bang for your buck! Fairly reasonable price for that much food. It's good for 4-5 people.
Aside from the above, we were also served the following:
🍽 Shrimp & Grits — I enjoyed this one immensely! Loved the combination of fresh and perfectly cooked shrimp with the grits. The grits may look bland but it's actually full of flavor and very cheesy.
🍽 Seafood Pasta — This one too was a hit! We even asked for another order, it was that good! The pasta was cooked al dente, and I loved the generous amount of seafood in it.
🍽 Spicy Kani Salad — Not a fan of salad, but this one was good. Loved the contrast of the crunchy texture of the greens over the soft kani.
🍽 Buffalo Mozzarella Burger — Don't let the size fool you. This one's heavy! I liked the juiciness of this burger. Their manager explained that the patty is made of Wagyu beef. Honestly, they had me at mozzarella. 😅
Overall, food was great! Service, as always, was topnotch. They have really courteous servers. The ambiance is classy, though it gets too noisy in the evening. (Blame the alcohol.) 😅
Bring your family and friends over at Village Tavern if you're looking for good ole' Western dishes and amazing service.
China Zomato China
Village Tavern exemplifies elegance and class. From a date night to a meeting with colleagues or business partners, you would opt to dine at this establishment because of the ambience and location at the Fort. Their menu has a wide variety of western dishes to choose from and top notch wine and cocktail options.
What was served:
Kani Salad
Shrimp & Grits
Mozzarella Burger
Seafood Pasta
Drank:
Green Harvest
Quality of every dish served was exquisite. Not bland or too spicy. I wouldn't mind going back to try another main entrée paired with sangria. My personal favorite is their burger as it has the right amount of grilled, juicy meat, cheese and soft buns. Highly recommending their pasta too as it's cooked simple with fresh seafood. In summary, this establishment has been in the area long and you know won't be going out of the market anytime soon.
Great spot for a Friday date night! Celebrated bf's birthday here last week and the experience was awesome. We ordered the black pizza and a serving of the pesto pasta. Both were scrumptious but I still don't get the hype over black pizza dough because it honestly tasted the same. The serving size of the pasta was a bit small and enough only for one person with the average appetite. We also ordered a glass of red wine and red sangria. I loved my red sangria. At the end of our night, one of the waitress offered us a pretty good deal if we purchase a Bistro card and so we did. She even got us a birthday dessert so we stayed a little longer. Good food and overall pleasant service.
Village Tavern is one of the restaurants under the Bistro Group. This a franchise is from the Land of Milk and Honey and they specialize in American Comfort Food.
They have been around for quite sometime and I am a lil ashamed to admit that this is my first VT visit 😶. I need to atone for my ignorance so i will make this review worthwhile.
| Spicy Crab Salad. Fresh veggies tossed in crab fat infused dressing then topped with copious amounts of kani. I love the rich dressing and how it makes the salad not-so-healthy 😂. And i meant it when i said copious.
| Seafood Pasta. This is the best-tasting Vongole I've had in a while (currently ranked at 2nd place - Tratorria Altrove is still king). The past is cooked perfectly. How do i know this? Well, we took our sweet time and the pasta still has the perfect texture. I love the clean flavor, i taste the sea on every spoonful.
| High Street Platter. Porchetta, Fish Tacos, Roasted Chicken and Marble Potatoes. I was surprised when i saw the server carrying a plank of wood filled with food. You know the thing that happens in the movies wherein everything is in slow motion and you defy the laws of quantum physics and see yourself say "Wow" - i think i experienced that 😂. That platter is huge!
The porchetta is the best thing that ever happened. You gotta hand it to ze Italians for bringing this dish into the foodie universe. The pork is roasted to perfection. Each bite is an explosion of flavors in my mouth. The meat is super tender and has the right amount of fat. And oh the skin is super crispy.
| Main Street Platter. Grilled Porkchop, Fried Chicken, Veggies Wrapped in Pita (?) and Marble Potatoes. Yup, another "slowmotiondefyquantumphysicsmode" The porkchop is the shiz! My knife glides through the perfectly charred slab. I am diggin' the flavour as it is a wonderful mixture of sweet x tangy and barbeque-ey notes. And yes, their chef has mad skills in the grill. The fried chicken is equally good too. It has the Southern x Home Style vibe. Crispy x flavorful exterior and moist x juicy on the inside.
| Shrimp and Grits. This is a traditional Southern dish (at least i think it is). I've watched a lot of episodes of Master Chef and I've seen a lot of amateur chefs made this.
Useless Trivia. Grits is from the Old English word "grytt" which means course meal. Grits is made of corn that is ground into a coarse meal and then boiled.
This is the first time I've tried grits and i dunno how it should taste like. The texture is similar to mash. The taste....uhmmm....it is kinda like mash not quite (it ends here, i dunno how to describe it sans comparison)
| Buffalo Mozzarella Burger. I gotta hand it to VT, they know how to make a mean burger. The patty is juicy and oozing with Angus Beef goodness. Pairing it with mozzarella creates a wonderful mixture of flavor as the cheese melts into the burger....making it 10x awesome.
Oh, Village Tavern...you are a force to be reckoned with.
Peace Out!
~Reich
Having been turned down from other places because they were about to close, we ended up in Village Tavern. The staff was quick to welcome us and gave us a booth. They served chips while we waited for our order. Food did not take long to arrive. The ribs and the pork belly were really good, but the cheese rolls won us over. Ordered 2 single shots of JD, and they gave generous shots (almost a double). If your choices are limited for a late dinner date, Village Tavern is a great (more importantly still open) option.
Cheesecakes! The Double Decker Cheesecake is my favorite here at Village Tavern! It was a welcome treat inside my mouth. The texture of the cream cheese combine with the chocolate cake, yum! Menus items are a bit pricey BUT they serve awesome stuff that’s worth it! Good service, staffs are attentive and friendly. Next time I visit here I will try there cocktails and steaks with wines! 😍😍😍
Went there for a team lunch, I ordered their All Meat pizza which is a bit overpriced for me, not at all meaty, but still tasted good. We also had their Texan ribs, which I really like. Will definitely go back to try other food in their menu.
This restaurant has the most accommodating and caring staff ever. The lady (unfortunately I forgot her name) was so cheerful and keeps on checking if we are okay. About the food, the serving was too little for the price. I ordered pasta with shrimp in tomato sauce and it was too sour. However, my mom, brother and boyfriend enjoyed their burgers so much!
I have been here several times but i can't seem to find the right thing to order that's why I find this restaurant average.
Anyway, we ordered the following:
Nachos - i find their nachos good. Not stingy with the ingredients.
Clam chowder - yummmmy. The soup base is good and there are lots of clams, squid, etc
Cheese with bacon pizza - sorry forgot the name haha. This pizza has gruyere cheese with applewood smoked bacon. Yum yum
Chicken kiev - i find this dish delicious however the chicken is so big that i dont think the herbs inside and the chicken meat is proportioned. However, the chicken meat is tender.
The servers are really attentive to our needs.
We visited during Holy Week (A SATURDAY, so hectic!), but I was still appreciative with the service they had. Wait time is a bit slow, but considering the traffic, I understood. I believe that it's perfect for date nights or Sundays with the family.
They have pasta in hefty portion sizes that's good for sharing, but enough for one hungry gal. While the bolognese was good, I couldn't say much for our oil-based pasta, which had too much oil. If lessened, I'm sure it would be good.
.:FOOD:.
TEXAN RIBS
Served with special cola & chipotle glaze.
Had this with VT Rice (flavored rice with shrimp, onion leeks, mushroom, bean sprout, red & green cabbage) and it was 💕. Really went here for the overflowing wine but ended up having a happy tummy as well. 😍😋
BLACK PIZZA
Signature black pizza dough with parmesan, gruyere, mozzarella. Monterey jack cheese, pepperoni, mushroom, red bell peppers, onions and bacon.
Perfect for soaking up that overflowing wine. 😂✌🏼️
I visited Village Tavern with office friends for a Friday Night dinner. It was fun with the company but I did not like the service. They just wouldn't serve even water in time. They provide bread with a dip complimentary and do not provide any refill even if you are about 13 people dining in. The service is definitely too slow.
I ordered a Grilled Chicken Pasta in red sauce. It was good sauce and taste, had sufficient spices and seasoning unlike other pasta dishes in the area. My friends ordered beef ribs which seemed to be an economical and filling option.
Overall -
Food - 9/10
Service - 6/10
Value for money - 8/10 (expensive)
Perlito Fabiani | Hungry Panda
+4.5
The food that we ordered are soo good. My least favorite was the flat bread, though it taste nice but not that feeling na "mapapa-wow" factor ka. Ultimate favorite was the "Jalapeño Poppers" so spicy and so good with the right kick of flavors! Pampagising as starters. What's great about this place is how fast they serve the food and how efficient the staff Ms. Celine took care of our food and needs. Amazing place for long talks with old friends and new ones. Babalikan ko to. 😊
We ate here last valentines day with my boyfie.
It's a romantic place to be on a valentines day.
The ambiance is nice, the singer is good, serenades in the background, the servers are nice, they even let us find more comfortable chair.
They actually have nicer chair for the lovers, that will make you feel very exclusive but it's occupied when we arrived.
The food is good as well, but not superb for me.
They have famous black pizza, it's unique but the taste is just ok, the bite is chewy.
Their pasta and salad is really good. Worth it.
The shrimp dish, i think the serving is small for it's price.
So, if you want a romantic place to date, this is perfect.
For food trip, well I think, there's more restaurant that's worth the penny.
Thank you. Hope it helps.😁😁😁
P.S.
We actually won a promo here the #valentinesatthevillage not knowing that there is such. I just posted a photo of our date in my instagram actually. They price is 1000 GC, still don't know when to get it though.
We ate outside so I can't really tell if the place was cozy but based from the interior, I can say that it's a good place to have a date or hang out with friends. Food was really great! Though it's a bit on the pricier side, I can say it was worth it.
Have you ever tried a black pizza before?
I have heard and read about Village Tavern's Black Pizza and I found it interesting, but with the many newly opened restaurants, I have never been able to get around trying it...
So when I was told that we will be spending the night in Seda BGC, I insisted on dinner at Village Tavern. Good time to use my Bistro Card and vouchers as well...
When we got there, I ordered the Cowboy Chips as a starter immediately... Tried this before and it left an impression!👍 These are thinly sliced potato chips topped with cheese sauce, applewood smoked bacon and pico de gallo. Goes really well with beer and this place has a wide selection of alcohol to choose from.
The Black Pizza is their signature among their many choices. The dough tasted like there were herbs mixed in, subtle but it's there... It has a mix of parmesan, gruyere, and mozarella cheeses with ground beef, pepperoni and mushrooms... It deserves its status as one of their bestsellers... The flavors blended well together and you can taste everything that they put on that pizza... The size is big enough for two people to share... Delish!👌🏻
Finally, we tried their truffle burger, which utilizes Wagyu beef for its' patty... The beef was cooked perfectly and was accentuated by the truffle mayo, cheese and shitake mushrooms piled on top... It comes with a heap of fries on the side... Excellent burger!💜
VT not only churns out great food but they excel in the cocktails that they make as well... We got there before 7pm, so we were able to take advantage of their early bird promo... 20% off their drinks... I got myself a Mango mojito while the bf tried one of Gordon Biersch's brews...
The staff were friendly enough... Food was served fast... The whole place was very clean and pleasant... Glad to have a Bistro Card because the meal was not cheap...😅 Try it sometime, it's good!😃
They have the best tasting red sangria I have every tasted. Like totally a 110% thumbs up! I also loved their all meat pizza which topped off that meal.
All of the staff was very friendly and nice. Definitely a good place to destress and chill or even catch up with friends after our busy long hours after work.
Thank you for making my stressful and hectic Friday great! Im definitely coming back for more.☺👍🏻
I love the chicken ala kiev, it had a perfectly creamy filling. I also love that the carbonara had smoky bacon bits which added to the flavor and gave contrast to the creaminess. I just didnt like that it had an egg on top.
One of the best restaurants in Bonifacio. Great food and great ambiance. I ordered Chicken Kiev before and it's really good. Surely, I'll come back!
Late post.
It has been 3 months since my office moved to Fort and till now I hardly explored the area (except the establishments in front of our building). For one, I want to go home before it gets dark. Second, it’s expensive to explore here! But I do treat myself a good meal on certain days when I feel I deserve it. And a few weeks back, I invited E to join me for dinner and we went to…
Village Tavern.
I was first to arrive and the server led me to a corner table (near the al fresco part of the restaurant) and I politely asked her to move me to another table as I noticed that the area had a lot of mosquitoes. I refuse to be the mosquitoes’ dinner. She then led me to the table near the bar and it was a lot better. Soon, E arrived.
Great atmosphere at this place. I remember the Black Pizza (P575) because it was black. Otherwise, I can't recall any memorable dishes from the Village Tavern. I believe restaurants should have memorable dishes that keep you coming back again and again. Unfortunately, I haven't been back since.
Decided to celebrate my birthday on village tavern. Ordered the Homemade Jalapeño Poppers (P350), 2 Overflowing Sangrias (P399 each), 2 glass of ordinary Sangria (P180 each), Black Pizza (P575). Ten Spice Glazed Salmon (P795), regular Carbonara (P595) and regular Grilled Chicken Penne(P695).
First up served were the sangrias along with the Jalapeño poppers. The Sangria was mixed and made well. You can taste the fruits along with the red wine. The poppers were okay nothing out of the ordinary, mildly spicy cause the seeds were taken out but it was big a piece.
Next up was the Ten Spice Glazed Salmon, packed with umami flavors from the red pepper, almonds and other spices. The Salmon wasn't that soft as I was expecting it but it was tender and very umami yummy. Then the Black pizza came, three cheese pizza topped with pepperoni, mushroom, red bell peppers, onions and bacon. The crust of the black pizza had a different flavor from the ordinary pizza and noticeably airy but yummy as well.
Next up was the carbonara and the grilled chicken penne. I've tasted the grilled chicken penne before and it brought a smile to me that the taste is still the same or even better I think. The carbonara was exemplary good. I applaud village tavern with the quality of their pasta.
Food 4.5/5
Simply exemplary almost all of the dishes we ordered was good except for the poppers
Service 4.5/5
Staff were nice and very accomodating
Ambiance 4.5/5
Astonishing lowkey decor and chandelier even the comfort room is well decorated.
Price 4/5
Fair price point in exchange for the hefty serving and good food.
I recently attended a Food Run that Zomato hosted featuring The Bistro Group x Citi. We were able to taste different food from six (6) different restos that are part of the said dining group.
Village Tavern’s Grilled Prawn Avocado Salad (P475) looked very delicious. I wasn’t able to taste it because as I’ve mentioned above, I’m allergic to shrimp, boohoo! It consisted of freshly cut romaine lettuce with taco seasoned shrimps, avocado, tomatoes, red onion, and nacho strips tossed in taco dressing.
The Habana Mexican Style Grilled Corn (P375) was the only food I got to try in Village Tavern! It was a corn on the cob with Mexican smear and Feta cheese. I loved the exotic taste of it and the kick of spices it had!
Like the Grilled Prawn Avocado Salad, I wasn’t able to try their Blackened Shrimp (P550) because of the same reason. My fellow Zomato foodies seemed to enjoy the Bayou cream sauce toasted garlic bread and grilled sourdough bread with it.
Food service is 8/10 for me.
By the way, there's a 30% discount on appetizers, starters, and salads (excluding soups) for Village Tavern. Promo is open for all Citibank Cardholders, whose credit or debit cards have been issued by Citibank, N.A., with no minimum or maximum spend required and is exclusive for dine-in only. Promo runs from August 15, 2016 – September 15, 2016!
Village Tavern, one of the restaurants under The Bistro Group, offers an array of continental classics, highlighting a western flare. It's like going into a high-end TGI Fridays, with much more choices and viands.
The atmosphere of the entire restaurant displays their western theme, embracing a modern twist. From more tone-down earth and homey colors altogether, it creates an environment of class.
Starting off with their Grilled Prawn Avocado salad, it has cuts of fresh and crisp romaine lettuce, nacho strips, taco-seasoned shrimp, taco dressing, red onions and slices of creamy ripe avocados. I like how the flavors are married into each other. The creamy avocado cuts the flavor of the spiced grilled shrimp and tangy taco dressing, complimenting the fresh and crisp lettuce, finishing off with a crunch from the nacho strips. It definitely packs a punch to enhance your tastebuds for the meals to come your way.
Habana Mexican-style Grilled Corn gets me perked up too(also one of my faves). So it's corn on a cob grilled just right(a bit of char on the outside, still juicy on the inside), bringing out the sweetness of the corn. It's complimented by savory and spiced Mexican seasoning and butter. Very simple, but also gets your appetite starting. Yum!
Their Black Pizza is a definite head turner. The dough has squid ink, resulting to the color of the pizza crust. Pretty unconventional, but definitely yummy. The pizza has four cheeses-gruyere, parmesan, mozzarella, and Monterey jack, bacon, pepperoni, bell peppers, onions and mushrooms. I love how every ingredient is fresh. The crust feel is elastic, which is a great sign knowing that the dough was kneaded well. Definitely cheesy and a bit smokey because of the meats. Perfect combo for any amazing pizza.
The main event was the dessert. Their Dulce De Leche Cheesecake left me speechless up to this day. I make cheesecake myself and I know what a great cheesecake tastes like but theirs just exceeded my expectations. It's dulce de leche flavored cheesecake, supported by a walnut crust. It's served frozen when we had it. I suggest you let it thaw for about 2-3minutes then eat it. As it softens, it's becoming like custard--velvety, milky and not overwhelmingly sweet, still has that note of tartness from the cream cheese(I suppose. Or whatever dairy they used.). The walnut crust compliments the dessert because it brings a crunch center to the whole of it. Plus the nuttiness of the walnut comes out as it compliments the sweet cheesecake.
They also have wines or sangrias available. We had sangria that day and I hope the alcohol would've been more accentuated.
Overall, a great dining environment, pleasant staff and awesome experience.
Best way to enjoy Village Tavern from August 15 to September 15, 2016 is to get 30% OFF on appetizers and salads with your Citi card!
Got to try the Blackened Shrimp. Cajun spiced shrimps in bayou cream sauce are served with toasted garlic bread and grilled sourdough bread.
Try the Habana Mexican-style grilled corn on cob with Mexican smear and feta cheese. Addicting!
Or maybe the grilled Prawn Avocado Salad, taco seasoned prawns over a bed of romaine lettuce, avocado, tomatoes and nacho strips.
In line with the Citibank Dining Program, I was invited together with some Zomato Foodies on a two day food run of the participating restaurants for their ongoing promo of 30% OFF on selected menus.
Grilled Prawn Avocado Salad
Habana Mexican Style Grilled Corn
Blackened Shrimp
It was a first time for me to try a salad with Avocado on it. I was used to Avocado as a dessert. The salad was quite refreshing to me and because avocado is really my favorite. So put it on anything, I'll eat it! :) It has freshly romaine lettuce with taco seasoned shrimps, avocado, tomatoes, red onion and nacho strips tossed in taco dressing. I am a bit biased but I also loved the Habana Mexican Style Grilled Corn with Mexican smear and Feta cheese. It was cooked well so no reasons not to finished it off! Bayou cream sauce was really distinct on the blackened Shrimp, reminds me of the rich sauces in Malaysia.
I love Village Tavern! Ive been here quite a few times already but its just through a Zomato foodie meet-up that Ive recently learned that this place is actually a franchise from North Carolina and is the only VT in Asia. What keeps me coming back to this place is its ambiance and their Black pizza! About three weeks ago, they launched new items and Im glad to be one of the first few people to try 'em. Yay!
We had their Grilled Prawn Avocado Salad,
Habana Mexican-Style Grilled Corn, Cowboy Burger, Creamy Chorizo Pasta and BBQ Pork Ribs. A definite stand-out for me is their prawn salad. It was made of freshly cut romaine lettuce with taco seasoned shrimps, avocado, tomatoes, red onion and nacho strips tossed in taco dressing. It was light yet so refreshing! The corn was delightfully good too! I didnt care if the butter was all over my mouth.. Yum!
The cowboy burger was made out of wagyu beef, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and barbecue sauce. It was good but can be improved, loved the bun and the tender wagyu patty. The creamy chorizo pasta was cooked al dente. Im not a big fan of chorizo but this one is light and not too overpowering. It was garnished with shaved parmesan cheese. Nice!
Now to my old favorite -- Black Pizza! I always order this whenever we dine at Village Tavern. It is made out of their signature black pizza dough with parmesan, gruyere, mozarella, Monterey jack cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, red bell peppers, onions and bacon -- Ahhh, I die! The ribs was tender but I prefer it with more sauce. We finished off with their awesome Dulce de Leche Cheesecake. Love how the cheesecake came on a walnut crust. I suggest you eat it as soon as it gets served on your table, its best to have it chilled! Oh did I mention their red sangria? It was perfect!! My kind of drink!
Overall, I had a pleasant time together with my foodie friends! Thank you Village Tavern and Zomato Philippines for the invite!
Located on Bonifacio High Street, Village Tavern's outdoor atmosphere and spacious interior allow for a refreshing dining experience that transcends into the food.
They have simple selection but good variety to hit every taste bud. We sampled several items on the menu but my favourites would have to be the Grilled Prawn Avocado Salad, The Black Pizza, BBQ Pork Ribs, and Dulce de Leche Cheesecake.
The Grilled Prawn and Avocado Salad was excellent and so refreshing that it created an unforgettable impression. The BBQ Ribs were absolutely delicious--flavorful and very tender. Not the best I've had, but definitely competitive and won't disappoint.
The Black Pizza (Squid Ink makes the pizza dough black) was also good. This delicious pizza creation was loaded with mushrooms, bell peppers, bacon, onions, Gruyere, Mozzarella, Parmesan, and Monterey Jack cheeses. If have you happen to have a love affair with cheeses like I do, then this is perfect for you.
While Village Tavern's entrees are good, the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake steals the show for me. This dessert was the perfect blend of sweetness that was comfortable to the palate yet cheese-y and creamy enough to satisfy any cheesecake connoisseur.
My one and only gripe would have to be Creamy Chorizo Pasta. Normally, the Chorizo provides a deep flavor with smokey undertones in any dish but I could hardly taste that flavor in the pasta.
Their bar menu is solid and actually fairly-priced. We tried their Sangria and I loved it! It's slightly sweet, very fruity, but still has that kick from the red wine. I haven't had a good sangria in a long time and I'm glad to have found this place to get my Sangria fix.
As for the price, it's what you'd expect from a nice place in BGC. I highly recommend that you stop by Village Tavern if you are ever in the area.
*Many thanks to Village Tavern for hosting me.
It's along multiple options for dinner and if you get up to the second level coming from the 7th Avenue is the last option... I went there because was the only restaurant with chicken fingers for my son. The food was good, we had the mini sliders, nachos and a burger... the cocktails aren't good... the juices are good... therefore, not a place to drink alcohol unless it's a beer and they can't go wrong with it.
Food is really great. Loved everything except the price! This is a high end restaurant. Might be a good idea to get a Bistro card if you go here often. Loved the tavern pizza and the margherita pizza. Very simple but delicious. Loved the fish and chips! Crispy fries and tender fish. The snapper Hemingway had a big chunk of snapper!
Tried their ribeye steak and sliders they were really good! Wine is 50% off before 7PM and they're the best! Ambiance is classy, cozy and most of all perfect for good conversation kind of celebrations! The servers are very attentive. It's worth coming back here.
