Shrimp noodles and the beef dish that we had were good! Staff was quite quick to serve us as well.
This was another stop on the Binondo Tour my officemates and I signed up for. Here, we had mango sago and salted egg yolk custard buns. At this point we were super full already from the other stops on the foodie tour, but no doubt that the two snacks we had were delicious! Ambiance and service were also quite good. Sadly, we heard that it was the restaurant's last day! Not sure how true that is, but I hope I get a chance to eat here in the future pa.
great place for family dinners. I would recommend ordering the cha misua it was by far our favorite dish đź’—

We recently visited the famous Ongpin Street at Binondo, Manila. Popularly known as "the authentic Chinese enclave of Manila that showcase for all things Chinese and traditional . I and my then fiance went there to canvass for our wedding rings. As recommended by Drei, we visited Ty Po Huat - the store where he purchased his. While looking at their selection of rings, I can't keep but think of food, duck in particular. Since we were in Ongpin, I've asked the owner of the jewelry store if she can recommend any good place to grab some roasted duck (since it was already lunch and I was hungry af), she then told us to try President Grand Palace.
Very good food and superb service! Thats all I can say...Simple, Authentic & Awesome!

We decided to go to Binondo for dinner after we visited the National Museum and we were very glad that we chose to eat at the President Grand Palace. The ambiance of the restaurant is very classy but the price of the food is affordable considering the servings are huge and the food is authentic. I particularly liked the Sizzling Oyster, a sisig dish that is not in their menu but is absolutely worth a try!
Frequent Visitor here!
Frog Legs and Live steam suahe is a must try ;)
I've tried Spring Deer and Coral Garden's frog legs, so far this one is the best. Steam Suahe may by typical as it sound, but the dipping sauce ace it!
Tried the Salted Egg Shrimp, which was not in the menu, but was worth the price. Had Bird's Nest soup for starters. Also ordered Buttered chicken and Fried Rice Yang Chow style. Total bill was very reasonable.
Getting there is a bit stressful due to the traffic and the narrow roads, best to bring a driver or ride an uber so you need not worry about parking. It is located on Ongpin St.(The heart of Chinatown). Be prepared, Chinatown is cramped and dirty. Lots of small shops of wares, clothes and of course restaurants. That’s the charm of it all though, the experience. We’ve eaten at President’s years ago, they upgraded a bit. The restaurant is big and clean. Lots of tables and accommodates big groups. There was an event in the front part of the restaurant and they we’re signing in Chinese. horrible voices and it was giving us all a headache. But that’s the price you pay when you eat in an Authentic Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. They have lots of Waiters, so service is very good. They serve kropeck while your ordering. Love that. We started with the assorted cold cuts, YUM and the diced Chicken with Sweet Corn Soup. We had the Steamed CRAB, double yum, the Beef with Broccoli, Soy Chicken, The Fried Noodle with Beef Brisket, Steamed Lapu-Lapu and the Patatim. All the dishes we ordered we’re delicious. There was a problem with our Peking Duck, It never came and when we followed up they said it would take 20 more minutes, so we just cancelled it, I was really looking forward to that, Oh Well, I guess we gotta come back again. Lastly for Dessert We had the Almond Lychee and some Buchi. It’s really the experience eating here so for a special occasion, make the trek.

THEY SERVE AUTHENTIC CHINESE FOOD HERE!!! Whenever we visit binondo, i make sure to never miss a chance to order their hot shrimp salad. It's very addicting and they have generous servings that's perfect for family get together! Their cha misua (stur fried egg noodles) is also one of our usual orders, which is just normal but lived up to Chinese expectations!
Salt and pepper squid
Beef hofan
Kingtao spareribs
Chicken with celery
Cousins get away after a year! We love having dinner there. Our server is always taking care of us. The food is amazing and obviously we finished everything! Coming back for sure!
A very good tasty chinese food here in manila. I should say one of the best. With that authentic chinese interior design and a very good service.
The place is huge, lots of tables and there's also a stage, I guess for a live show, but there wasn't anything happening probably because I went there on a weekday. It's an authentic Chinese place. Loved the food, had ordered for a vegetable noodles and the quantity was large, good for two servings. Nice place.

The President Grand Palace holds a long history in the country's Chinatown. Originally, it was located along Ongpin cor Sabino Padilla Sts (formerly Gandara St), beside the famed Salazar Bakeshop. It is the restaurant to go during banquets and festivities.Â
On recent years, it moved to its location now cornering Salazar St. The location was used to be a Chinese movie theater. I remember going there many nights after finishing my homework. After 3-5 years after it moved, the family owning the restaurant broke into a civil war, which ended badly. The restaurant was closed for a brief moment.
A few years ago (2010 or 2011 I think), the President reopened on the same venue, but the quality is not the same as before. However, they still try their best to maintain the traditional way of Chinese cooking. It is still the place to hold banquets at a cheaper and more affordable price.Â
It has been a long time since I last visited the place and had the chance to do so again as my friend celebrated her birthday. She ordered a feast with Misua, Steamed Fish, Steamed Suahe, Steamed Crabs in Garlic, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Peking Duck 3 ways, Cold Cuts, and Vegetables. Despite the twists and fusions on food with most Chinese restaurants, President still cooks it the traditional way. I love the Fried Rice because of its generous servings of shrimps. It is lightly seasoned and not oily. A basic dish done perfectly is a sign that the chef is highly skilled.Â
I enjoyed my dinner, it has a light feeling despite the number of dishes we had. Visit this restaurant if you want to have a taste of traditional Chinese cooking.
We came here for our lunch today and it's the day before Chinese New Year so as expected the place is bursting full of people. This is not the first time I ate here and I always remember President for its excellent food and quality service. So imagine my surprise when today's visit was almost a disaster. We were seated after waiting for 15 minutes. Then disaster happened. The waitress didn't gave me a menu right away. I had to ask for it several times. Then after choosing our food items it took also several times for me to signal a waiter that we are ready to order. The waiter did apologized for such slow behavior and explained to me that its because there were so many customers to attend to and they were obviously understaffed. I did say its ok and that we were willing to wait but don't let us wait for a whole hour. While waiting for our food to arrive the tables behind us complained to the waiter that it took an hour for their crabs and rice to arrive and that they were very hungry. After complaining she cancelled her orders and left the restaurant. There was also a similar incident at a table beside us. I was thinking, "Oh no" people are leaving because of the slow service. Our food came maybe after 30 minutes. I was a bit dissapointed at how the food looked. The chicken with cashew nuts had big chunks of onions in it. It tasted good but it doesn't look appealing. It was very obvious that the it was cooked haphazardly fast. The pineapple fried rice tasted like Yang Chow with pineapples. This wasn't the same pineapple fried rice that we had in the past that was served on a hollowed out pineapple. There was no pineapple bowl this time, just served on a regular bowl and even with the pineapple bits in the rice, the taste of the pineapples wasn't actually there. The black gulaman juice looked more like a dessert rather than a drink in a glass. Since it was 80% black gulaman and maybe only 20% liquid.
But like I said, taste wise, the food was still good, delicious. It was just that the service was so slow and the presentation was very unappealing. I think they should train their wait staff more. Yun lang.
Me and my family come here often lalo na kapag may family reunions kami. Dito namin sinasuggest kumain. Masarap naman ang food nila. Ang panget lang dito yun parking. Mahirap maghanap ng parking area.
Place: 3/5
Parking was difficult and place was hard to find. Streets are narrow. There aren't any big signs that this is the restaurant. There is only a divider between the reserved place for parties and the place for regular customers which makes the noise easily heard.
Food: 5/5
The food is really good. They also have big servings. For the price, though it's quite expensive, it really is worth it. Personal favorite: lemon chicken
Service: 4/5
After placing our order, we only waited for less than 10minutes. The food was served immediately. The waitresses are not very approachable though.
Over-all, we'll definitely go back, even with their limited parking space and sketchy location.
One of the best original place in binondo. A must try place if its u'r first time in chinatown or if u have an extra money to spend. Best sellers are lemon chicken, soup and all kinds of shrimps recipes. Placr is kinda old and customer service is also not that good anymore. Waiters are a bit disorganized.
A bit expensive for the area, but it lives up to its name and price. The dishes are really taste delicious, I recommend getting the prawn salad. Perfect for family reunions and gatherings.
Food was awesome. Quantity and quality 5/5. My partner and I even managed to have take-outs. (And I'm telling you, we were stuffed!) Their staff were kind and approachable. Best place to go when craving for chinese food. Definitely a must visit when coming to Binondo. ?
Food was just alright. This is definitely not at par with the President restaurant of old, which was then located alongside the small Ongpin bridge. Their seafoods are fresh though the cooking could be better. My vote for the best Binondo restaurant still goes to Uno Wharf.
To cap off these posts to complete my target of expertise in Binondo, let me show you my favorite Chinese Restaurant of all time! EVER! This wasn't even on my blog since I only realized just now that I haven't made any review for Presidents! My one and only love!!! (This review was way back 3 years ago, that's why you may notice that the resolution of the pictures were low since I'm just using my phone that time)
❤️ THE PLACE
Upscale dining restaurant setting with red and gold metalic theme. High ceiling, sparkly chandeliers, and elegantly designed interiors.
❤️ THE SERVICE
The service was excellent! Definitely no doubt on this one!
❤️ THE FOOD
Assorted Coldcuts - Hefty serving amount of cold cuts combinations such as seaweeds, lechon macau, century egg, white chicken, pork asado, honey bbq chicken, and peking duck in sweet sauce! I can eat these any time of day, any time anywhere!
Fish Lip Shredded Soup - Fish Lip soup is my favorite Chinese soups since I was a small little girl. They didn't skimp on ingredients even in their soup!
Hot Prawn Salad - I have tried different versions of this one, but President's is the greatest. Huge and plump shrimps coated in crispy batter then tossed on the sweet and light mayo dressing! Every bite is divine!
Steamed Lapu Lapu with Soy Sauce - Always a pick-me-upper to us! The fish was so fresh and you can taste the natural sweetness of the fish with soy-ginger sauce!
Fried Seafood Taro Puff - Mixture of seafoods on a creamy dressing with crusted layer outside. It's good but we find these a bit cloying for our liking.
Black Mushroom with Abalone Mushroom - Giant mushrooms on simple oyster sauce will never go wrong. Especially if you're a mushroom lover like me! hehe!
Steamed Crab with Garlic - I loved the way that they serve this. Everything was cracked already and all you have to do is devious and enjoy the seashells!
Broccoli in Mushroom - Crisp broccoli with mushrooms on top, then drizzled with their thick seafood sauce.
Mixed Fresh Fruit in Season - The only order we didn't enjoy that much. Yes, it was presented beautifully but it's just plain fruits carved costs 1500 pesos. (If I remember it right. hehe)
❤️ THE VERDICT
The damage costs 16,000 pesos for these wonderful lauriat good for 10 pax (?) Everything was worth it! I am very much willing to go back here, only if my parents will treat us again! hahahahah!!!
