We occasionally visit Robinson’s Metro East since it’s not that accessible from where we are. We went there this weekend and we were actually looking for another restaurant. However, that was already closed. So we thought, “Why not try out that one over there?” And that’s Chubby Checker. How they came up with that name is beyond me, but it’s somewhat catchy and unique. They’re located at the basement and open and close with the mall.

This restaurant has just recently opened in Robinsons Metroeast. For 99 pesos, you get two pieces of its signature Chicken Bourbon and unli-rice. The chicken was slightly sweet and didn't really have that depth of flavor that I expected. It is relatively inexpensive though, and a better choice than all the deep fried and heavily breaded fastfood alternatives.
I ordered the sotanghon soup with my meal, and that was served piping hot and well-seasoned. I guess everything tastes better with cups of piping hot steamed rice and soup.
