Ate lunch yesterday with my family. Chicken was spot on! Its not KFC or Chickenjoy. It is its own taste. Real Southern style fried chicken. I just hope the place was a bit bigger. Let's expand guys! Soul food FTW!

My brother and i love the chicken and coleslaw, i still remember the disappointment when the tagaytay branch was closed, we always go to tagaytay almost everyweek back in the 90' s and we always eat the crispy juicy chicken on the way home.. Hoping you' ll expand your business and would reach las pinas and cubao.. ����

Move over, fastfood fried chicken brands. Even Ministop's Uncle John's Chicken! MY GAD, Tom Sawyer's is sooo good! The gravy is different too - you don't need to "soup" it up over the rice to actually taste the umami-ness of it. Also, your lemon iced tea rocks and please make a bigger serving size of it. Also, please don't ever close your store or change the recipe.

This for me, is the best fried chicken in the metro. Classic! Tom Sawyer's Old Fashioned Krispy Chicken is super crispy, juicy, and uber delicious! And their gravy sauce, Man! It is the best! Their 2-piece Chicken Meal will only cost you Php150! Super worth the money! Some other food that you might want to try is their Spaghetti, Fries, and Side Dishes.

When was the last time I've eaten a Tom Sawyer's chicken? I don't remember. Why? The brand has fallen off the food radar. Sayang.
I intentionally arrived two hours earlier than the appointed Food Event time at Tiendesitas to look around, to rediscover the place which I haven't visited for a long, long time. When I accidentally spotted the Tom Sawyer's signage. Without thinking, I ordered.
The fried chicken was still how I remembered it: juicy, tender and seasoned well (never salty). And the gravy? Still thick and flavorful (again, never salty).
What spoiled my reunion with the fried chicken was the corn bread. It was extremely dry, bland and tasted like it was taken out from the oven five days ago (or was it a week?).
But I didn't allow minor thing to dampen my spirits. I still enjoyed my chicken thigh that swam a small gravy pool.
After a rough day, my parents handed me this to me for my dinner. Though it was a take out, the quality stays fresh and it's not hardening unlike other fastfood fried chickens. The fact that it was a takeout, its still fresh and warm. Chicken is juicy and crispy still. Highly recommended.

It’s my first time in Tom Sawyer’s. My boyfriend persuaded me as he spoke so passionately of this brand that he grew up with.
We ordered 2-piece chicken platter and sloppy fries. The chicken was juicy and crunchy. The gravy, being distinctly different from those of other fast food chains, goes well with their chicken.
The sloppy fries, however, did not go well with our chicken platter as it is too heavy and savory on its own. That said, it is still worth trying.
I just wish they hadn’t ran out of corn bread too early.

This place is underrated! I wanted to get chicken but since i went here on a Friday on lenten season, i decided to get the fish fillet, BUT no regrets! This was literally the best fish fillet I’ve ever had! It was well cooked, savory, and the texture was great! Will come back soon to try the chicken, but won’t hesitate to have the fish fillet again!!!
Best place to eat for chicken! So crispy and juicy, it's worth your money. Buying the 9 piece chicken along with sides of rice or cornbread is a good deal since we're four, counting a dog of course back home.
Probably the most underrated fried chicken. I wouldn't classify this as a fastfood as how well the food is cooked and served to your table (hot). It is definitely better than McDonalds or KFC chicken and the price is very fair. People should come here more often.
I might have committed sin for ignoring Tom Sawyer's since they re-opened in 2014 because one bite was all it took to win me over.
The coating and skin are extremely crunchy that every bite is audible.
It's also flavorful that you could easily taste the variety of spices used in the batter, which also has a hint of black pepper aftertaste that lingers.
Also worth mentioning is that even though it's freshly fried, it's not that greasy.
For the chicken itself, it's juicy, tender and moist.
Tom Sawyer's is one of the select few fried chicken that doesn't require you to add gravy, it's already good as it's served.
However it would be unfair not to review their gravy as it is good in its own right.
Tom's gravy is rich, thick and with a stronger taste and smell of butter.
It felt freshly made, and not processed like the gravy often served in fastfood restaurants.

I'd heard of this chicken place years ago but I'd never considered it because it's in a quite uncommutable place from me. Buuut because my BF and I are such foodies and he's from the East and he wanted me to try this na talaga, we took a cab from Marikina to Tiendesitas. The place was quiet and peaceful and it was merienda time so not a lot of people were there. We both had chicken, spaghetti, and mashed potatoes. The price was pretty good for the quality! Okay na rin hehe. I liked how the spaghetti meat tasted like real beef, how the chicken was a good alternative to Jollibee (maliban sa price and accessibility issues), and that the mashed potato was way better than KFC's.
If you're in the Tiendesitas or Congressional Ave area, this is worth a try! Masarap :)
I ordered their 2pc chicken, fish fillet with fries meals. The chicken is really tender, breading is quite thick tho not that crunchy still, it is very yummy and moist. Their fish fillet is what I enjoyed most since its quite rare for me getting fish fillet nowadays. The fist is really really moist and fresh. I have not dined in but I ordered it via honestbee. I must say the level of their customer service is beyond awesome especially how their Manager of this branch acted on an incident with my order, nobody's fault - system fault id say. Kudos! Good tasting meal, price just right.
As a kid, I used to go to Tom Sawyer's when they were still a sit-down restaurant in Greenhills. I'm glad to say that the recipe never changed. A single bite and I am transported back to my childhood. While I never tried their chicken when I was a kid, their hickory sauce is as good as I remember it to be.
I was really surprised how delicious and crispy their chicken was. A great alternative to Jollibee and if you want affordable and not too crowded places. As for their spaghetti, it is packed with ground meat, a little sweet, no wow factor but still a great it. I prefer mine with rice though as their gravy is also delicious.
The place may look simple and somewhat uninviting but I assure you, their chicken was worth-it. When in Tiende, eat here instead of their restaurants upstairs taht offer beer and ihaw stuff.

I was this close to eating at Tom Sawyer's last year when I attended a birthday party at a nearby kid's play area. Sadly, it was cut short when we had to go home early when the kids slept on our way to Tiendesitas. So when the opportunity to finally try Tom Sawyer's presented itself, i did not hesitate and immediately said 'Yes'! Pasig City is a very foreign place to me and it is a rare occasion to visit Tiendesitas. Tom's is easily located at Building A with access from inside the mall and outside. They are open very early for the breakfast crowd wanting their fill of fried chicken up until late night.
I cannot recall the taste of Tom Sawyer's but i remember my parents buying take out in years past during their heyday in Plaza Fair if i am not mistaken. So i quickly asked for a hefty two piece chicken (choice of either Breast and Leg or Thigh and Wing chicken part combination), and a side of corn bread. The corn bread was not fresh from the oven, it was fresh from the fridge. Warmed in a microwave or toaster. But, boy, was the chicken tasty! I enjoyed every bite. It was juicy and crisp. It was not oily at all. It has that distinct southern spice taste to it. That is not too overpowering but i wish it was more pronounced. The gravy was a nice touch too. The corn bread was OK. Reminded me of Kenny's corn muffin but more compact and dense. We also ordered the pork bbq with rice. It was a good deal but the pork was a bit dry even if it was doused in sauce. Too much bbq sauce though.
Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. Service was fast, front staff can be more friendly. She was efficient and quick so i can't complain that much. I like the interiors too, it was clean with a throwback feel. They've been open for quite some time now but no signs of expanding. So we must brave the traffic of C5 if we want some more of Tom Sawyer's. Recommended.
Tastes like Greenwich but smaller parts. Few food choices here. Branch is kinda small. They should offer a variety of food not just the ordinary ones.
Quick place to eat good food. Their chicken is different from the typical Jollibee-Mcdo-KFC, so it is definitely a must try! The things I did not like is that the price is a bit expensive (keeping in mind that the meal does not include drinks so you have to order separately) and that they use plastic cups for some drinks.

Dined here after reading the reviews on Zomato. I've never been to their old branch so I have no idea on its taste. So after I renewed my license at LTO, we had lunch there. I got a chicken meal plus corn bread and brownies. The chicken was good but I think there's nothing special about it.

Chicken here reminds one of home cooked meals your mother or Manuela used to serve you when you were a kid. The gravy perfectly goes well with their Crispy chicken. The Southern style children was really good to taste & they were cooked to perfection too.
Visited this place because I was walkin around the corners of Tiendesitas and discovered what appeared to be bangin' lookin' fried chicken and prices were my kinda numbers. For less than P100 you can get a decent sized chicken piece with rice. None of that pathetic small 1-piece nonsense in many normal fast food places. Chicken was nice and juicy. Gravy was good although not much of a gravy person anyway. Definitely a place to try for just some good ol' decent fried chicken!

I got 2-pcs fried chicken meal for Php145.00 served with rice and gravy. I just add Php43.00 for coleslaw and Php25.00 for brownies paired with orange soda for Php42.00.

The chicken was really good and affordable. It was very crunchy and I loved it . The ambiance of the place is just good. I also loved their brownie . The staff was very nice , they were giving out balloons to kids that was eating at the store. And once you get off the table theyll clean it up immediately.

As a child studying in O.B. Montessori during the mid-80s, trips to Greenhills were quite frequent. We would usually stop by McDonalds for lunch, just before my 11am class. The lure of course was the happy meal and the toys that it came with. There was one instance though that I recall being extremely disappointed because we arrived a little later than usual, and the place was packed. Since we couldn't get seats, my Yaya decided that it would be best to take us somewhere else for lunch, rather than risk us being late because we were waiting for a table at McDonald's.

Their chicken is flavorful, properly seasoned and breaded. It is juicy and crispy with good gravy. Their brownies are 20 a piece and I often order by the 10s to bring them in a box during food-to-shares.
They don't have a lot of food options, but their corn bread, spaghetti, and ribs are all things to try when on a budget.
Tom Sawyer's is definitely worth a visit when in Tiendesitas.

A friend kept raving about this place for as long as I can remember and when she invited us over for dinner, I couldn't be more excited. The menu is very simple. Chicken with sides, or chicken with Spaghetti - Okay, maybe not that simple, but you get the idea.
Each of us ordered the Chicken platter that comes with 2 pieces fried chicken, steamed rice and their old-fashioned gravy. I decided to get the dark and white meat chicken pieces just because. The seasoning was balanced, the meat was moist and juicy, and the chicken skin was super crispy.
We also had corn bread and coleslaw on the side. Both are good but I personally prefer the corn bread. The food came out pretty quickly, and I really enjoyed the simplicity of the fried chicken.
Inside is a little cozy; There aren't too many seats but there are a few tables outside as well. Its definitely worth your time to stop by and try Tom Sawyer's Fried Chicken. You won't be disappointed.

Had take-out. Chicken was still warm when we ate it. Very delicious, was saying their chicken skin (balat) is like a cross between KFC (spices, Original recipe is not crispy) and Jollibee's crispiness.. texture is just in the middle.

Downright good fried chicken. Crisy and heavy on the breading, but doesn't overpower the tasty and juicy meat. Don't go here if you're craving for sweet spaghetti, but if you want to venture far from the familiar Filipino recipe, their american southern style one is good and straight out of my husband's childhood tambay days in Virra Mall.
Tried tom sawyer in tiendesitas, very tasty, the chicken is crispy, my personal favorite is the spaghetti. Their budget meal is also not bad. Highly recommended when visiting tiendesitas.
First time trying this newish chicken place in Tiendesitas and quite pleased. The chicken is very crunchy and crispy and even more flavorful than Jollibee's chicken joy. The hickory rice pairs well with the chicken but at P45 per cup, is quite high-priced. Still, not disappointed with the food in here.

What was supposedly a food binge at The Grove turned out to be a classic Southern American dinner at Tiendeditas.
After checking the pet stores we looked for a place good enough to satiate our discriminating taste for a comfort food, thus having fried chicken.
We found some restos inside the newly made building of Tiendeditas, and mind you there are a number of interesting nooks to get good grubs inside. It was airconditioned and clean compared to the smokers haven down the fastfood.
It wasn't crowded and was comfortable compared to the other fastfood place in the area.
We chose to go to Tom Sawyer since the character is familiar and it's interesting to know that a fictional character's name is used for a resto's name.
I was also drawn to the monotonic red and white them of the resto and loved their red-painted batibot chairs. The interior was both modern and country at the same time. The space isn't that big and their menu is downright simple. So yes, it was easier to choose what to order.
The staff were cheerful and accommodating as well, however, you will be advised that your order will take 15 minutes or more to be served
We heard fried chicken are Texas-heavy big so we headed towards Ugong. Seeing the servings, I oohed and aahed with expectation. Waited 15mins for my chicken while she was already served her Hickory Ribs which, by the way, smelled glorious. I was, to say the least, dumbfounded when served two regularly sized chicken. A minute later the table next to ours was handed LARGE pieces!
Oh well, size aside, I bit into my wing and I tasted Navy. Peppery and a bit generously salted but otherwise very flavorful. I do not see it to becoming a fave, though.
However, the rib was tender and subtly herbed which I liked very much. Now I know what to order each time I pay Sawyer a visit.
One more thing, not sure what was with their fries but it was the best fries I've had. Crunchy on the outside and stayed so throughout the entire meal.

I just have to give it up for Tom Sawyer's chicken and delectable gravy! Thank goodness my fellow foodie recommended this place. Although I'm wrenched to know that they do not have other branches YET and delivery. Yes, It's that good to demand for a delivery service. Fortunately they are planning for a second branch, and hopefully in Quezon City.
Moving on, I ordered a 1 piece chicken for only 88 php! Very affordable for everyone. It also comes with a big serving of rice. Unfortunately if you're a chicken lover 1 piece chicken might not suffice for you and the 2 pcs chicken is the way to go for only 138 php. Moreover, I'm very pleased to know that they have unlimited gravy because as we all know most restaurants now even the little ones are charging for a refill of gravy. Of course as a customer we find that ridiculous right? I liked the proper amount of saltiness of the gravy which makes the chicken more tasteful.
Too bad there's a parking fee because this place is located inside the Tiendesitas mall, but on the brighter side it's air conditioned.
Will I come back? YES! YES! YES! and I definitely recommend this.

I must say, their Fried Chicken comes almost close to Pancake's Pan Chicken dish in terms of taste. Great marinade that you can savor from the crispy-licious skin down to the tender juicy meat. The gravy although watery in texture tastes ok. Their hefty Beef spaghetti tastes good too. Affordable prices for quick bite dishes. 😋

This is hubby's go-to place for a quick fried chicken snack in Tiendesitas. I found the skins crispy and the meat tender and juicy but I get the feeling that the offerings here are not much different from other fried chicken establishments. The gravy is buttery and tasty though.

Hands down, Tom Sawyer's has the best chicken in town! Taste and quality of it, can't be compared to any fastfood restaurant, even Jollibee. Sorry, Jollibee, I don't mean to offend, but I speak the truth. And I shall say the same for KFC.
And what of the gravy at Tom Sawyer's? I can't describe it in words, but whenever I have it, impatient me gets hurt, and I burn my poor tongue. Lesson learned several times, but I can just never stop myself. The temptation is too strong.
The mashed potatoes on the otherhand... They leave me speechless. I moan and I forget my name, close my eyes, and for a moment, I am transported into blissful heaven.
In terms of the service, it's excellent. Sure, sometimes you may have to wait for the food, but it's worth the wait. I prefer my chicken to be fresh out of the fryer. Staff is also very friendly and accomodating. They will refill your gravy all the time when your little gravy cup is empty.

This place offers one of the best fried chickens in Manila. You can get tender and juicy chicken that is even better than Chickenjoy. It was served hot and the gravy is not the too salty kind. It complements well with the chicken.

Now let me describe to you how perfect my meal was at Tom Sawyer's. Their chicken was big enough to be shared by two people (that's if your not hungry). But why would you even think of sharing your crispy and juicy chicken to your friend? They will let you wait for 10-15 agonizing minutes before you can devour your meal since they cook it on the spot! That's the worst part, I believe. Their spaghetti on the other hand was so good I want to travel all the way to Pasig so I can taste it again! The sauce of their spaghetti is so meaty and it doesn't have that sweet taste. The pasta is also al dente! The doneness of the pasta can make or break a meal, but im pretty sure that Tom sawyer nailed it! Their brownies was also good, you just gotta try it!
I don't usually waste my money on meals that can be found in fast food chains, but Tom Sawyer's is really an exception. I really do hope they open a branch in Makati.

I liked the fried chicken a lot!!!!!!! A little slow in the service though, just a bit. But if it's good fried chicken you want, this definitely gives you that.

For some bizzare reason I reverted back to an eight year old kid and craved for Fried Chicken. Tom Sawyer's old fashioned krispy chicken is located at Tiendesitas along C5. They specialize in serving original-style Southern chicken whose recipe dates back to the 19th Century. I decided to give this a go and ordered their fried chicken and spaghetti.
I was fortunate enough to have met Louie, the owner. According to Louie, the very first Tom Sawyer's resto was here in the Philippines in 1981 but had to close down due to several issues. Luckily now they have opened again in Tiendesitas and is doing great.
They offer Platters with contain one or two pieces of fried chicken, a scoop of rice, and their old fashioned gravy. Their fried chicken is huge... and i mean it!!! The breading is quite crispy and flavorful... the spices are nothing like Jollibee and KFC. The meat is tender, juicy and well marinated.
The all beef spaghetti is true to its title. There is a hefty serving of ground beef in the spaghetti sauce. The sauce has a noticeable basil flavor to it which I love. It is not your usual sweet spaghetti which most filipinos love but it has an old school italian charm to it that i like.
The place is well lit and the furnishings are typical of your fast food restos... all basic and nothing special. The food takes a while to get served though. Food comes out in about 10-15 minutes. They cook on a per order basis and their philosophy is... good food comes to those who wait. So if you are looking for an alternative to you usual fast food fried chicken... give Tom Sawyer's fried chicken a try!!!
The place gets packed by lunchtime.
Obviously, they cloned Jollibee's famous Chicken Joy. But, the taste is way damn better. Modified and perfected, with or without the gravy. Welcome back, Tom.
So happy to have something new in the Tiendesitas compound. I work in Silver City so this is a very welcome addition. This chicken, I tell you, is well worth the wait! Crispy and juicy (no, I'm not talking about Jollibee Chickenjoy) it'll blow your freaking mind! Chicken is really served fresh off the fryer so this is the real deal!
They really just have to do something about the waiting period, employees only have 1 hour for lunch and they sometimes make you wait for 20-30 minutes. But other than that, it's all good!
Oh my Lord God Almighty. Their Chicken is Amazing. Juicy, crisp, tender and packed with flavor. Tastes Just like it did back in the 90's in its Greenhills branch. Nevermind that the place is kinda barebones, nevermind that half of the seating is in the mall. One bite of their food and you will forget all of that.
Their food is reasonably priced and large portioned too. The gravy, we suspect, is what Pancake House took their gravy from (the taste is so similar). Other Chicken Places beware. Tom Sawyer's is gonna give you a run for your money!
The store is pretty barebones and could use some work but the chicken is delicious! And the gravy too. Pretty affordable too at P88 for 1pc chicken with rice. I forgot how much the 2pc one, but it's around P130.
The chicken's skin was delicious and it was VERY moist inside. Looking forward to more branches opening!
I've been a fan of fried chicken since I could remember, so I definitely wanted to try place out and it was a good idea. The chicken was crispy and had flavorful breading, but what really takes it home is the gravy. I am a picky gravy eater and it was surprising how it complimented the chicken as well as the mashed potatoes. Definitely going eat here again.

It will be Christmas in a few hours and once again we are reminded that it is better to give than to receive. (Well, specially if you are a boxer. : )
We were doing our last minute shopping when we chanced upon Tom Sawyer's in Tiendesitas. Wasn't really hungry, but smelling the freshly fried chicken wafting through the air made me want to try the "new" Tom Sawyer's. (I think I just committed one of the seven deadly sins.)
This U.S. Mississippi franchise supposedly started in PH decades ago, hibernated, and is now back.
The southern style fried chicken is good. It is served extra crisp and has a wonderful peppery taste. The meat is tender, and cooked just right. The best thing about it is that it is not as oily as other fastfood fried chicken.
The corn bread is just like the popular corn muffins served by a roasted chicken chain and is a good alternative to rice.
If you find yourself in the new, air-conditioned section of Tiendesitas, hope you get to try this out or better yet, grab a 9pc pack to share.
