Isla Una won my heart in various ways. I'm not sure who owns this place but I was told that the people behind this place happens to work for Magic 89.9 and might've been the same reason why they had the coolest playlist ever! I'm a big fan of music so it's a big plus for me when restaurants have really good playlists.
I make sure that I visit at least two restaurants whenever I go to Ortigas. With the horrific traffic, I just have to maximize my trip. And when I was invited to a sponsored dinner at City Golf, I had to look for another restaurant to visit afterwards. I then remembered that there is this picturesque Filipino restaurant that was featured countless times in several blogs.
Hello, Isla Una.
Isla Una’s interiors is like haven in a sea of pubs and bars within City Golf. Though technically also a bar, its interiors say otherwise. Or at least for the ground floor. I couldn’t really comment on the second floor dining area as C and I were already too comfortable with the couch by the leafy wall on the ground floor.
Night out with fellow foodies has brought us to having a sumptuous Filipino dinner at Isla Una.
I love how the place has a modern and homey feel which is good for chill night outs with friends.
Sharing about the dishes that we have tried:
-Lemonade. I find it very sweet. You can taste the lemon but it had a lot of sugar in it. Could use more water.
-Kanin. Plain rice, Fried rice. Bagoong Rice. The plain rice was soft. The garlic rice was typical--your usual Filipino sinangag. The bagoong rice was surprisingly not salty and was just right. You can taste the bagoong but it will not overpower the viand (ulam).
-Prawn Aligue. Prawns cooked in smothering and creamy aligue sauce. Tastes good; soft; creamy and flavorful. The taste of the prawn was distinct.
-Bangus a la Pobre. Pan-fried boneless Milkfish, served with tomato salsa and special vinegar sauce. Nothing too special, typical Filipino fried Milkfish. Cooked just right.
-Crispy Pata. Deep-fried pork leg, crunchy and flavorful on the outside and super moist and tender inside. The skin still lacked its crispiness. Surprisingly not too oily and "nakaka-umay" even if you eat the fats.
-Kare-Kare. Original Filipino stew of ox feet, ox shank, tripe, and native vegetables in ground peanut sauce. The bagoong was really salty but fine. The peanut sauce has this hint of sweetness; it was not too thick but it tastes good. The meat and tripe were tender.
-Sizzling Bulalo. Slow oven-baked beef shanks braised in Filipino-style herb-mushroom gravy. This is one of my favorites among the ones served. Tastes good; it has this citrus taste that is quite subtle. Creamy with marrow and smells very enticing even upon serving. Works well with the rice, but I think this can also go better with pasta.
-Yamang Dagat. Prawns, squid and mussels cooked in a flavorful broth of garlic ginger, and coconut milk. It had a mix of seafood that was balanced and none overpowered the other; not even the taste of the coconut milk. Tastes good.
-Lechon Belly. Cebu's famous roasted pic, rolled and stuffed with spices and herbs served with chicken liver sauce. The skin was crunchy that you could hear every bite. Tender and good.
-Pansit Canton Guisado. Stir-fried noodles with mixed seafood and vegetables. It has a lot of ingredients, tastes good and not oily. The noodles were cooked al dente and is flavorful even without calamansi.
-Yema Palitaw. Sticky rice cake coated with coconut with yema filling.
FULL/DETAILED REVIEW ON MY BLOG
Their version of poque poque was amazing. Parking within the complex may be challenging. There are a lot of other choices too in the area. The one I particularly enjoyed too was this taqueria in the middle of the parking lot I forgot the name of
A towering three floor restaurant located at City Golf. The interiors are eye catching and the furnitures made comfortable for its guests. They offer Filipino, not necessarily modern from different Islas. Coming from Alabang from an event with kids, I had their food come to me instead. The long wait was worth it. Although two dishes was quite pricey at Php 600, you wouldn’t mind.
Isla Una is at the 1st floor of a three-storey edifice situated at the threshold, inside of the secluded compound of City Golf Pasig (not sure though if 2nd and 3rd is occupied by them too)
It was my first time. I was there all alone on a weekday for lunch. The place is small for me. They have at least 6 tables, each table is good for 4 to accomodate customers. I like the set-up and decor, very vibrant and pleasant to the eyes. I ordered 1 dish since I was alone, the yamang dagat (seafood soup cooked in a coconut broth) a plain rice and a lemon juice . The food was sumptuous and I have this feeling other dishes are good too. Thats why I would definitely come back soon. Staff are very friendly.
P.S. They have an unli-beer promo for Php200 only from 5-8PM on Sun-Thurs.
Surrounded with different pubs, bars and late night chows in the area, the former C’ Italian Dining is now replaced by a new restaurant serving Filipino delicacies which can be a good place to hang-out, chill and grab some drinks with either family or friends.
I’ve been hearing about this place so I decided to try this with two of my constants. A few days after, Aldous, then, contacts me and asked if I was free to try Isla Una. The timing of everything! Since my friends and I weren’t able to try a lot of dishes during our visit, I decided to join him in this food adventure.
Isla Una, as stated, is a casual Filipino dining. But the moment you step inside, you’d be surprised by how much the restaurant can offer. Fairly new, the interiors are very pretty and the entire floor is well-lit, which makes it easier to take good photos of food! In this low-key area, this doesn’t look shabby at all. It strayed away from the ordinary look of a casual Filipino restaurant like Dencio’s, Grilla, Trelli’s, to name a few, and definitely took it to the next level.
Calamansi Juice
A great thirst-quencher and cleanser with all the food that we are about to eat!
Garlic Rice
Eating these dishes won’t be complete without rice!!!
Prawn Aligue (P280)
THIS IS A WINNER. MUST-TRY. WORTH ORDERING.
Laing (P180)
Said to be one of their bestsellers, I was already excited to try it. Sadly, it didn’t meet my expectation :( seems like the gabi leaves were overcooked making it a bit mushy.
Crispy Pata (P650)
I love Filipino dishes and one of my favorites is Crispy Pata. Sadly, I didn’t like Isla Una’s version that much. There was more fat than meat. Plus, the skin was not as crispy as how I wanted it to be and it was quite hard to chew.
Bangus ala Pobre (P330)
A typical fried bangus that can be easily done at home. I love that this dish came with a portion of tomato salsa!
Pancit Canton Guisado (P245)
One thing I like about this dish is the ample serving of the mixed seafood and vegetables. Though it tasted ordinary, it was delicious.
Kare-Kare (P360)
Another favorite dish of mine is kare-kare – a flavorful dish filled with ox feet, ox shank, tripe and some native vegetables. It tasted nutty, just the way I like it!
Sizzling Bulalo (490)
Tender beef shanks + good amount of bone marrow = PERFECT!
Yamang Dagat (P410)
This plain and simple-looking soup has prawns, squid and mussels cooked in a flavorful broth of garlic, ginger and coconut milk. Seems like they put a lot of cream since it tasted milky. It is like a Filipino version of laksa minus the extreme spicy flavor. I would’ve loved it if it didn’t taste too milky.
Lechon Belly (whole: P750)
A dish almost similar and comparable to the other dish, Crispy Pata, I find this more appetizing. The skin was really crispy and the meat was tender, easy to slice and not at all fatty. Thumbs up for this one! :)
Of course, a meal isn’t complete without dessert!
Yema Palitaw (P130)
Yema, made of condensed milk and egg yolks, and palitaw, which are sweet rice cakes, were two different traditional delicacies not until Isla Una made a hybrid of both dishes. Yema is known to be naturally sweet because of its ingredients and Isla Una’s version has the exact sweetness that everyone craves for. It was satisfyingly good!
Though most of the dishes we had were usual Filipino dishes, I love that the restaurant also offers something new to its customers. It’s tough having a Filipino restaurant here in our country because not only are there thousands of Filipino
restaurants but, anyone can even cook those dishes at home, sometimes even better than the ones served in restaurants. Though there were a few dishes that didn’t meet my expectation, I still see Isla Una as a promising restaurant that will satisfy all your hungry bellies.
I highly recommend the Prawn Aligue, Lechon Belly, Kare-kare and Yema Palitaw.
Isla Una truly captures the beautiful island life in the Philippines. With its promising menu and affordable meals, it’s definitely worth the visit.
Isla Una is a casual Filipino restaurant located in City Golf Plaza, Pasig. They bring together the most-celebrated and well-loved dishes from the different regions in the Philippines.
Had lunch here with friends and here are some of the dishes we've tried:
Prawn Aligue was okay. The flavor was average and the quantity was just enough to not be skimpy, but wasn't generous. I probably wouldn't order it again.
Kare-Kare was good. I believe that the peanut butter used was made from scratch because you can even taste of some of the toasted peanut chunks. The vegetables included were a little bland on their own but everything on the plate was enhanced by the shrimp paste (bagoong) they give you along with the meal.
We also tried their Yamang Dagat soup. (Seafood soup cooked in coconut broth) It had a unique end taste which I could not quite put my finger on. I can't say it's negative, (or positive), but the uncanny feeling encouraged me not to finish it.
We also enjoyed the Lechon Belly. This was a really tasty dish. The pork belly had a crispy skin but wasn't too greasy. It was well cooked, and the portion was just right.
We ahd high hopes for the Sizzling Bulalo however it didn't win us over. Sadly, the beef shanks was dry, cold, and tough. The gravy was a little on the salty side too.
For dessert we had the Chiffon de Leche. Basically, it's a chiffon cake walnut with layers of cream and dulce de leche. The cake was moist and sweet, but not too sweet, and was perfect with whipped cream. A wonderful, little sweet treat to end the meal.
Overall, I would most likely come back for their Chiffon de Leche Cake and Filipino-inspired cocktails. If you are in the area, I suggest you give them a try.

Their Tuna Belly was melt in your mouth and tasted really delicious. I gulped this down with the best Laing I probably had and white rice in less than 10
minutes.
There's so much more to try. Now i know where good Filipino is in the Ortigas area. Come try them too!
Located in City Golf Plaza, Julia Vargas Avenue, Ugong, Pasig City, Isla Una is a three-story restaurant offering Filipino cuisine. I love how the place has a modern and homey feel which is good for chill night outs with friends.
Wow oh wow! What great filipino food they have here. We tried everything from the crispy pata, kare kare, lechon and pancit canton. Everything was good and I really compliment the chef. I hear they have some celebrity owners so watch out for them chilling around the place. They have 3 floors of different themes too with the rooftop giving them a good view.

A new resto bar in City Golf Plaza, at the spot where C'Italian used to be. It's a 3 storey place with resto on the 1st level, bar on the 2nd level and a rooftop lounge at the top.
Besides the usual drinks, the place has an extensive Filipino food menu. We had Sangria, Jack Coke and beer and the Sizzling Bulalo - tender beef shanks in a mushroom gravy. Quite good!
Isla Una offers a simple yet straightforward cuisine that lets you indulge in a wide variety of flavors from different regions across the Philippines. The dishes at Isla Una are prepared the old-fashioned way, from secret family recipes passed on through generations and perfected through the years.
Isla Una offers a wide array of dishes, starting with the pampagana or appetizers. Their menu has numerous staples like the Chicharong Bulaklak, Sizzling Sisig, Tusok-Tusok, Ensaladang Mangga, and Pansit Canton Guisado.
The Lechon Kawali is a popular pork belly dish simmered until tender then deep-fried until golden and crispy, while the Crispy Pata is crunchy and flavorful on the outside and super moist and tender inside. Both are served with soy sauce and calamansi on the side.
Served in a huge bowl of ox shank, ox tripe, and various native vegetables in creamy ground peanut sauce, this Filipino favorite is best mixed with some sautéed shrimp paste to make it a more exciting and enjoyable dish. The Kare-Kare is usually eaten with plain rice to fully capture its flavors, but if you really want to match it with something, the Bagoong Rice (P65) is the way to go.
My favorite cuisine? Filipino food! I love trying different cuisines, but when it comes down to it, Filipino food is the only cuisine that I can eat everyday. Filipino menus aren’t created equal, so the hunt for the best ones is a constant mission.
I’ve added one to the list—Isla Una, Citi Golf, Pasig.
The place is a good hideaway to dine and chat with friends. The place has a snazzy, localized interior meant for long conversations and good times. The restaurant’s lighting is also quite good, which means—yay—picture friendly!
Now for the food. Since it’s the Philippines, there’s obviously an overflowing selection of Filipino restaurants which makes it hard to standout, but Isla Una managed to do just that. Kudos to the team behind it!Read more about Isla Una at my blog, Jelatine Daily.
I don't know with you guys but where ever I am I would always rather be at the beach. I seek it and even the thought of it makes me miss it so much. I know for a fact that in another parallel universe I am a mermaid because I have this longing of becoming one with the sea. Whenever my feet feels sand underneath it, a sort of calm and peace envelopes my soul. Unfortunately for me, I am not able to got to the beach this summer because of my work schedule. Plans to go hit the shores are not until later this year. So yeah, what a bummer...
After months of settling down and adjusting to married life, we've finally found the perfect restaurant to start writing again on Zomato.
Isla Una is a place right at the middle of the metropolis. Found in the middle of City Golf, Pasig which has its own parking space (including valet), it is not very hard to find.
Since we ordered a whole lot of food, we would recommend ordering their crispy pata, lechon belly, baked mussels, aligue rice, and of course, their isaw! Very Filipino indeed! A great place to bring foreign guests, meetings, family gatherings, and even hanging out with friends, especially their third floor area.
Too bad we were not able to try their desserts since the ones we wanted were unavailable. This is a reason for us to go back! 😄
Thanks to my friend's brother, Benjie, for inviting us to your restaurant! We'll be back before you even know it! 👍😄
Kare-kare: While i liked that the sauce can stand on its own (w/o the bagoong), it was disappointing. The meat was bland and still hard, like it still needs more time boiling.
Chicharon bulaklak: we originally ordered chicharon but it's out of stock. This one did not disappoint and i particularly liked their vinegar which had some cucumber.
I gave it a 3.5 because they have a promising menu. And id like to come back and give the other items a try...IF i can convince the bee.
I got to try out Isla Una's tastefully prepared beermates and Pica-Pica line-up for a night out with friends. Their finger food snacks can be anything from simple kikiam/squid balls, nachos to a piping hot dishes that go well with their cocktails and beer.
I love their Pork Barbeque Skewers, Sisig and Chicharon Bulaklak. Sisig this is a favorite pulutan made from parts of pig’s head and liver and is usually seasoned with calamansi and chili peppers.
Chicharon Bulaklak refers to crunchy, deep fried pork innards sprinkled with salt.
Isla Una also offers homecooked Filipino dishes like Kare-Kare, Lechon Kawali and more for all members of the family to enjoy.
🐽 Food: Was able to try their Sizzling Sisig & Crispy Prawn Heads. The Sisig should go with rice, of course. The prawn heads were deadly, in a very good way! I loved it.
🍹 Drinks: They have affordable local beer.
🍴Ambiance: Cute interiors and paintings. Very cozy and is a spot to just enjoy or hang with your friends casually.
👫 Service: It was pretty packed when I went and we were seated on the rooftop so it might've been a bit of a struggle to accommodate us. They should station staff per floor to be able to accommodate the guests properly.
💸 Price: Really affordable especially that the food is for sharing.
The restaurant's goal is to be a place where you can come and just be yourself; a place where stories are shared and friends are made over a sumptious meal and a drink or two in a warm and cozy ambience that resembles all the comforts of home.
Your Isla experience will not only stimulate your palate, but also take you back to your roots. Isla Una is your home away from home!
Isa Una is a three-storey food haven that serves authentic filipino comfort food. We were lucky enough to be invited to their grand launch. The first floor is perfect for family gatherings and lunch conferences because it has a bright and eccentric interior. On the second floor, the interior is cozy and dim added with a mini bar on the side that completes the club vibe to it. Lastly, the roofdeck is perfect for romantic dates and for people who love to chill and have an overlook of the Ortigas skyline.
One of the owners welcomed us as we enter the restaurant. The staff gave us their house blend iced tea which is perfect to quench our thirst on that day. We were given an option to choose among their best sellers on the menu and we decided to order Crispy pata, Sizzling bulalo, Kare-kare, Yamang Dagat and Prawn aligue.
Crispy pata (650php) - The meat was juicy and crispy just the way I like in a crispy pata. Also, the sauce blends perfectly with the meat.
Kare-kare (360php) - Orignial filipino stew of ox feet, ox shank, tripe and native vegetables in ground peanut sauce. The peanut sauce strikes my taste buds. It's not strong and not bland at the same time.
Yamang dagat (410php) - Prawns, squid and mussels cooked in a flavorful broth of garlic, ginger and coconut milk. Seafood lovers would definitely love this.
Prawn aligue (280php) - Prawns cooked in smothering and creamy aligue sauce. The prawns and aligue sauce complement each other and are perfectly paired with rice. Just watch your blood pressure though before eating this food.
Sizzling bulalo (490php) - slow oven-baked beef shanks braised in filipino style herb mushroom gravy. This was the highlight of my lunch. The beef shank was soft and tender and the gravy just melts in your mouth that will make you want to eat more rice.
The prices are also not that expensive and are good for sharing. Overall, I enjoyed our lunch stay at Isla Una and will definitely be back to bring my family and friends to experience good authentic Filipino food.

The place is sooo relaxing! They have best ambiance, perfect if you will bring a date. Plus, the place looks exclusive. They are serving filipino food - We tried sininang na baboy, kangkong, sisig and shanghai. It's good! The price is swak as well! Maybe because they are still on a dry ran. It was a great experience. A perfect place if you want to dine and to relax! 😃

Reserve and Bugsy's, you better watch out, Isla Una is out to take a bite from the patrons of Citygolf. With its cozy interiors, this 3 floor resto built right smack in the middle of Citygolf is the newest place to be!
The ground floor is perfect for family dinners, the second floor is for those who want a club vibe with pounding music and darkened lights while the third floor is like a house veranda which has a cool breeze despite no air-conditioning.
The service was impeccable despite still on soft opening. Their menu boasts of Filipino staples like sisig, lechon kawali, etc. They are served in great portions and homemade taste.
They have their own bathroom so no need to pay P10 for the common bathroom in citygolf. And despite everything, what I specifically love are their prices. I might just spend my next birthday here as the food and drinks are the cheapest within that compound of bars and restos.
Definitely a must visit for all of you looking for a great night cap!
