I decided to bring my client and colleagues to Cazuela last Friday and I swear it was a good decision. We all loved our food, the Gambas were the best! And we'll definitely be back for the cheesecake and the food.

I went here for a chill Friday night with a friend and we weren't disappointed! I loved the cozy atmosphere and the service was greaat too as the waiter was very attentive to us and helpful in choosing our drinks. We had margaritas and mojito in carafes and some finger food. I'll be back for their paella negra and wine! 😍

Each dish is good for sharing but when it comes to dessert, I don’t think I want to share it with anyone because I want the whole order for myself, that’s how it’s good.

I arrived at the restaurant the first thing that I always look for is customer service. The staff was really friendly and warm. I looked around the restaurant and they have stacks of wines packed all over the place. So ladies, if you love wine and you’re in the Ortigas area, this is the place to be.

For my full post on their food, visit my blog. :)

I always order Paella Negra and Peeled Shrimp with Tomato sauce dip. Paella had a very rich sauce with lots of toppings. Shrimp was simple and smooth. I'll bring my family some time.
F****** delicious.

The food was so good i was so excited i was not able to take a picture of them all. 😂

Paella Negra was so tasty its not oily and the seafood is rich. Rice is well cooked and seafood flavor is intact.
The steak was cooked perfectly with a pinch of salt and herbs matched with sauces. I enjoyed this well with a glass of wine.
Ambiance is creative and cozy 💙💙💙

We were treated out for dinner at this place. First time I heard of this and was a bit skeptical at first. Its situated in the middle of a resto strip along sapphire road. The appetizers were excellent. Beef salpicao, gambas and especially the baby squid. I ordered the peruvian hanger steak and it was juicy and the firmness was just right. The pork chops looked savory as well.

Cazuela is one of my new favorite restaurant in Sapphire Bloc. They offer mainly Spanish dishes and has a very small and intimate place. I’ve been dining here several times already and I always order Angus Beef Tapa. I like how it’s one of the cheapest meals on their menu yet it tastes super good. It’s slightly salty which makes it okay for me (cos I like salty stuff), making me get more spoonfuls of rice. I just like how simple the dish is plus it is so full of flavor.

The only thing I didn’t like about Cazuela is their service. It’s so slow! It’s slower if your table is in the mezzanine area because you have to call the server a little louder than the usual.
During my last visit, it took them more than an hour to serve our food. After a little parinig, the Cazuela team gave us free churros for dessert.
Hope they can still improve their overall service to match their tasty and yummy food.

Cazuela - Sapphira Bloc, Ortigas.

Our first time to try out Spanish Cuisine and everything was so good. We ordered the following: 👍🏻Patatas Bravas - with special barbecue sauce and white sauce
👍🏻Pasta Con Albonidgas - spaghetti with meatballs and special spanish sauce
👍🏻Mushroom Soup – creamy, assorted mushroom soup
👍🏻Pollo Ponchos – grilled chicken skewers served with flour tortilla

Taste of each food was not too strong. You can really taste the authentic spices used for every Spanish cuisine. A 5 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 😎😎😎😎😎

A lovely little place with a cosy spanish decor.
They had a 50% off promo if you ate lunch there at 12.00 using an app.

Tabla de Longganizas - 3 types of longganizas served with tortilla and some marinated cheese.
If you plan to order main courses this can definitely be shared for two. Our favorite was the Garlic one.

Lengua - Oh how tender the ox tongue was. And lots of it! Served in a clay pot with a mushroom cream sauce.

Chuleta de Cerdo a la Plancha - They dont lie when they say 1 inch of Pork Chop . Generous portion and flavors on point.

Our new favorite spanish place. Will come back for more food and try out their drink promos.

Good food and good ambience. Serving time got stretched but my friends and I did not mind it too much. I dont know why this is listed under zomato gold but they aren’t offering the promo yet (at least for the sapphire bloc branch). Hope this gets fixed soon.

We plan to eat somewhere new every date night....

So tonight, we tried a new place. When I sat down, I noticed Cazuela had a similar vibe to Barcino. We ordered Angus Ribeye Steak - it was served with fried chopped potatoes.

Steak was huge, the amount of potatoes was very generous, ordered an additional rice for Val. As for me, I paired it up with Pasta con Sardinella. It was good, very tasty, I like the french bread on the side as well.

Steak is always a good idea ✨

The restaurant gives off a foreign but cozy feel. When you enter, the place is kind of dark with warm lighting. The food is superb. The servings of the Pasta con Sardinella (P279) and Tuna Skewers (P388) are good for one really hungry person or for sharing. The Paella Negra (P365) and Paella Cazuela (P358) are good for 2-3 persons. The dishes are savory so we had Kesong Puti Cheesecake (P220) and Gypsy Cake (P160) for dessert 💃

If you are in a mood for some Spanish cuisine and happen to be along Ortigas area, you may want to check out Cazuela. Cazuela is a spanish 2-floor restaurant in Sapphire Bloc with unique colorful interior making it hard to miss for passers-by.

We ordered Gambas Pinchos for our appetizer and Cerdo Al Horno and Lengua for our mains.

The Gambas Pinchos was good for sharing especially if you want to have space for the mains. It was really good, just the right taste and fresh ingredients particulary the shrimps.

Cerdo Al Horno was definitely one of my favorite spanish cuisine I have ever tried. It is a 3-hour roasted pork belly stuffed with Chorizo de Bilbao making it very soft, easy to slice (even with fork) and very crunchy at the same time. It came with Saffron Rice and side veggies. Trust me, this dish is worth a try.😊

The Lengua was very delicious as well. Though it did not veer away from the usual and expected taste of Lengua (home-made or restaurant served), it is still a good dish one can try in Cazuela.

Overall, the ambiance, food and dining experience was definitely great. I would not mind paying a visit to this restaurant again to try their other dishes.

Place is small but the interior is interesting. Service crews are attentive and have a good grasp of their menu. We ordered their recommended dishes which are the Bacalao picante, orange and crispy duck salad and lengua. I enjoyed their lengua the most. Bacalao picante is disappointing considering the price. Orange and crispy duck salad is good too. Will like to go back to try their paella next time.

Cazuela offers relatively affordable Filipino-Spanish dishes compared to other Spanish restaurants in Manila. On both occassions we dined in Cazuela, the experience was enjoyable.

On this visit, we got the lamb skewers from the special lunch menu. The lamb was tender and well-seasoned. Would get this dish again! The special came with a glass of iced tea and our choice of dessert. For dessert, we chose the gypsy cake (chocolate brazo) and enjoyed it. We also ordered a salpicao appetizer but didn’t really enjoy it as much as we did our main course and dessert.

Come to Cazuela if you don’t mind trading off the authenticity of Spanish dishes for a more affordable food bill.

This was an unintended meal at this homy restaurant that has a somewhat quaint-colonial-ish feel.
Food: They offer old school dish like paella but since i was alone, I ordered their hyped version of a bagnet. It was good. Garnished with alfalfa sprouts (which went to waste, sorry) served with beans and rice topped with a spiraling chicharon (so good).
Price: Not for the faint pocket. Its one of those restaurants that are good to try every so often. I would recommend dining here. Alone or with a date or a small group.

Good restaurants are hard to find in Ortigas Center until now when condo-buildings now provide commercial spaces for new food troves. Located in the Sapphire Bloc, this Spanish colonial restaurant serves savory dishes and refreshing drinks perfect for group dine-outs. Their ox tail estofado is to die for, especially when downed with a glass of sangria. Churros was okay and could be more crunchier. The owners were nice enough to give us complementary sangria and churros. Will probably come back for the paella.

- pollo al horno (₱385): my favorite dish, highly recommended! We were supposed to order it's pork version but it wasn't available anymore. The half chicken was huge and flavorful 👍👍👍
- gambas al ajillo (₱328): well it's shrimp!

Would come back again for the pollo al horno and to try the pork version.

Valentine's Day lunch out with my officemates. Its unplanned and almost lunch time when we decided to dine outside. We had Spanish dish this time. We Cazuela this time. Place is quite small. And inside, it is surrounded by paintings, looks like an art gallery. It has quite dimmed lights.

We're a group of 8, we had:

💥for appetizer: 2 orders of Calamares (P277 each)- served hot. It has geneous serving. 1 serving is good for 3-4 pax.

💥2 orders of Cerdo al Horno (395 each) its a 3-hour roast pork belly stuffed with chorizo. Served with saffron rice & beans. This is the best main dish. It has a "crunchy chicharon" on top! Pork belly is tender and tasty. The beans are also good!

💥1 order of Pan Seared Mackerel (P328) this is served with mashed potatoes. The mackerel is flavorful. It has basil flavor all over♥️

💥1 Callos (P389) - served with plain rice. Stewed ox tripe is yummy!

💥3 orders of Saffron Rice (P80 each)

Verdict:

Service: we dine in their 2nd floor. Request for water takes time. That you have to remind them. For food, they had a fair warning in their paper placemats, the food may take time to serve, but will be worth it.

Food: i have to agree that its worth the wait. Everyone enjoyed what we ordered.

Price: quite pricey for a lunch. But I have to say its reasonable, everything is sumptuous and of qualtiy.

There are real stunners in their menu! I love the creamy and flavourful lengua, the lamb skewers which were surprisingly flavourful even without the sauce, and their paella cazuela which more than made up for the dry and bland paella negra. Their veal caldereta, while pretty to look at, was rather underwhelming and easily overshadowed by the other dishes.

You must check out this new restaurant called Cazuela that I was invited to try a few weeks ago. I had dinner there with my family and even my picky dad loved the food! The food was absolutely delish, and I can’t stop recommending Cazuela enough to anyone who asks. I had dined at Cazuela before at a food tasting. I totally loved the food and I was so excited to get my family to try it, too, that I kept bugging them until we agreed to go on a Friday night. And here we are.

My sister, who was complaining about traffic and didn’t want to go until I exerted my sisterly coercion, was so happy after the meal and is a total fan of Cazuela now.

The prices are also quite reasonable, and we had a veritable feast, even if there were only 3 of us that night, all totaling about P2,000, considering how much we ordered. Don’t fear, average check per person is around P350-500.

CAZUELA SPANISH COLONIAL CUISINE

Cazuela is named for the shallow, terracotta Spanish cooking pot they use often at the restaurant.

Cazuela serves Spanish Colonial Cuisine, the flavors of the different countries colonized by Spain. The restaurant is small, and seats 60 including the al fresco tables. It is decorated with a bit Spanish Colonial flair, with vibrant paintings, wines, wrought iron chandeliers and balconies reminiscent of Zorro movies.

The restaurant is located on Sapphire Bloc, a strip of restaurants just across from The Ortigas Building if you are familiar with it, or across from the Marco Polo Hotel along Sapphire Road. Parking can be a bit tricky, the parking on Sapphire Bloc is quickly filled up, and you can’t park on the street without the risk of being towed before 10 pm. There’s a paid parking lot nearby if you can find a slot. We ended up parking at Robinsons Galleria and walking to Sapphire Bloc, a block and a half away, not too far. Just find the Galleria exit near Gold’s Gym, cross the street, and keep walking for a block and a half.

THE FOOD

For starters, we ordered the Tuna Ceviche (P229). My sister was all like, why did you order the tuna ceviche?! She thought it was just going to be raw tuna dipped in vinegar. After her first bite though, she was a convert! Cazuela’s Tuna Ceviche is amazingly good – sweet, tangy and perfectly balanced. Aside from generous slices of raw tuna, it has pomelos, onions, alfalfa sprouts, and a sweet and sour dressing that reminded me of a Thai pomelo salad, but it’s not Thai, it’s Spanish colonial. It’s like a circus in my mouth! I highly recommend this!

We also had the Manchego Croquetas (P256), 6 pcs of breaded & fried nuggets of bechamel, manchego cheese, and spinach. No potatoes here. I sliced one open to show you the soft inside.

Next up, the Lengua (P400). Oh. My. God. I am so glad I ordered this. The lengua was tender and flavorful, coated in a creamy mushroom sauce. Lengua lovers will explode with delight once they bite into it! It doesn’t look like much but it’s soooooooo freakin’ good!

This is definitely on my MUST ORDER when I go back. It is that good that I am already making plans to be back for it! Definitely going on my list of what to order if I had to choose my last meal. Generous slices of lengua, too.

I had the Callos on a previous visit, and while the callos was also very, very good, for me, this Lengua is queen!

We also had the Cerdo al Horno (P395), a 3-hour roasted pork belly stuffed with chorizo de Bilbao, served with saffron rice. The pork belly was well-seasoned and tender. Pork belly lovers will probably weep with happiness on first bite.

It is also served with creamy beans, crunchy skin, and mango salsa.

I couldn’t resist the Paella Negra (P365) – I was surprised that it did not have any hint of fishiness at all (hindi malansa). It’s just like eating seafood paella, but creamier and without the acidity from tomatoes. It doesn’t have that squid-ink-funky-taste that many people don’t like. Don’t skip squeezing some lemon over it! Very delicious.

HEAVENLY DESSERTS!

The desserts to try are definitely the Gypsy Cake (P160) and the Kesong Puti Cheesecake (P220). Check out the generous portions that are good for sharing, although I don’t think anyone would want to share!

The Gypsy Cake is like a Brazo de Mercedes, but a chocolate version. It’s not too sweet and the meringue is not just puffy and fluffy, but has a bit of bite to it. The yellow filling is rich and sweet. It’s so good my sister decided to order 2 slices for take out right then and there. FYI, this Gypsy Cake, aka Brazo de Fernando, is on Inquirer Lifestyle’s list of Best Desserts 2015!

The Kesong Puti Cheesecake with Salted Egg Dulce de Leche sauce is a dense cheesecake lover’s dream. Some like their cheesecakes light and fluffy, while some like their cheesecakes dense and heavy with cheese. This one uses Laguna’s farmer’s cheese (kesong puti) instead of cream cheese, and the cheesecake tastes a bit like it has a bit of the whites from salted eggs (itlog na maalat), but in a good way. The saltiness and the texture cuts the richness of the cheesecake and provides a good contrast.

The cakes are baked by Gel Salonga of Ted’s in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, and you can order them by the tray!

SUMMARY

I seldom super rave about a restaurant, but the food at Cazuela is that good and Cazuela now has a place as one of my favorite restaurants. The prices are affordable for what you get, I think it’s value for money to get such delicious, good quality food at these reasonable prices.

Prices already include taxes, and you’ll only be charged an additional 10% for the service charge. It’s a small restaurant, the staff was attentive, and our orders came out quickly, probably because we arrived at 9pm and they weren’t as busy in the kitchen.

I highly recommend their Tuna Ceviche and their Lengua, and if you don’t mind squid ink, the Paella Negra. Then, definitely, definitely, try their Gypsy Cake and Kesong Puti Cheesecake. You won’t be the same afterwards!

Trying out a new resto at the Sapphire Bloc, Calueza who is still at its soft opening stage. I was surprised that the restaurant gets easily filled up especially during lunch hour. Glad I visited earlier than lunch. Calueza offers modern Spanish cuisine with a Spanish ambiance and music.

We ordered their Crispy Duck with Orange Vinaigrette Salad and Mackerel and Potatoes (since Bacalao was out of stock). First of, the salad was a real disappointment. The duck was nowhere to be found except for some shredded duck skin or super tiny duck meat that cannot be distinguished since everything was flaked and deep-fried to a crisp. The other ingredients were fine with lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, cucumber, and orange slices. The "duck" added the crunch but the ingredients did not blend.

The mackerel, on the other hand, was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. It was served with potatoes which are drowned in french mustard. Love the mustard seasoning. Oh, the potatoes are served cold, which was a little strange since a hot fish was on top of it.

It's a place to unwind and relax, so service and cooking takes time. Not a place to go if you are in a hurry.

We had a mini dinner bonding last Sunday at Cazuela with my family 😍

First, of course everything we had is delicious. Callos and Paella Negra are my fave, very savory not too healthy though I don't care as long as I eat great food just kidding ! :) I love
the mackerel with potatoes too as we know that the fish that they use for this dish is really fresh :) The Pesto Pasta with sardines is also good but didn't get too much for health reasons :D I totally forgot the name of the salad that we had, it has chipotle some watermelons on the side, yummy too as my husband loved it so much !!! :)

My most waited part was the sweet tooth time. I love the churros, fried just right and chocolate dip is not too sweet, just perfect for me :) but the best among the best is the yummiest ever gypsy cake! it's a to die for cake for me, the texture of the cake and sweetness gave me a reason to come back again :)

Service very fast, their staff are friendly and very accommodating :) the ambience of the restaurant suits my mood too, not too loud not boring at all :)

Until next time Cazuela! 💋

Been waiting for them to open for awhile now after seeing their construction sign for months. They offer mostly Spanish with some Mexican and other South American hits.

The serving was generally fast with their servers very attentive to their customers. This is despite a soft opening status.

Among the three dishes we had, the Callos which is their best seller proved best with flavor popping out of my mouth. It wasn't as fatty as expected as well.

The Lengua was generous at Php 355. It was really soft but was a bit bland. For some strange reason, rice for both dishes were tough.

Under Tapas, the Baby Squid at Php 225 is a must have. It's salted just right with a hint of spice.

New resto in Sapphire Bloc serving modern Spanish cuisine. It's on soft opening. Nice roomy interiors with wine bottles displayed along the walls.

Started off with a refreshing lemonade on crushed ice and coffee.

For tapas, ordered the Patatas Bravas and Gambas al Ajillo. The former was good with a lot of fried potatoes in aioli and spicy sauce. The Gambas was good too - although smaller shrimps, there were quite a few of them. Wish there was more olive oil to mop up with the bread.

For mains, we had Pollo al Horno - half a roasted spring chicken served on saffron rice. Chicken was flavorful. Also had the Mexican Rancho Angus Burger. Good beef patty cooked to medium on potato buns and a slice of cheese.

Ended with a good kesong puti cheesecake.

Well worth a visit.
