When I visited The French Baker in Pioneer Supermart Kapitolyo branch, I ordered their French Onion Soup and their Cordon Bleu.
The onion soup is served with a thick, buttery pastry dome on top. I recommend lifting the whole pastry dome so it loosens from the side of the bowl. Then I would cut a piece of the pastry with my spoon and dip it into the soup before eating. Cutting into the pastry immediately would collapse it into the soup, making it all soggy.
The soup itself is dark, rich, and packed with sweet and peppery flavor. There is also a strong taste of alcohol from the sherry used in cooking. The addition of sweet, buttery pastry helps dampen the strength of the soup.
The cordon bleu is crispy outside, but a bit dry inside. The cheese in the chicken is not fully melted as well. However, the creamy herb sauce and mashed potatoes served with the cordon bleu help give it some more flavor.
From afar I thought this branch of French Baker only sells bread, pastries and desserts. Come closer you'll spot a poster display of savory dishes and a full blown menu. Good thing I went nearer.
I missed French Baker. It's been here for decades and am glad they stayed despite the strong competition. I got to have my favorite raisin muffin like bread again. This is best served a bit crisp, fresh from the oven.
For a quick snack, I got one of the best rendition of grilled vegetable sandwich. It was served skewed on almost bite sized pieces. It was flavor rich, thanks to layers of pesto and cheese, making strips of zucchini, carrots and tomato tastier.
Their Parisan macaron was also delightful. It stayed together with the right amount of chew, its filling buttery good. And this only retailed for Php 35!
Skip the mint lemonade though. It was unbelievably full of sugar, drowning the cool feel and the sour essence of lemon. I should have gone for their lengthy choice of teas.
All I can say is that French bakers Bread are Amazing and delicious,Especially their blueberry bread ...I often order that kind of bread 🍞🍞🍞
Tiene la pasteleria y panaderia que faltaba en Filipinas!! Cocina muy fresca y sabores exquisitos!
Muy recomendable y tienes las tres B bueno bonito y barato
I was used to garlic bread because mom's into it. Every single day that she's in mega mall and always have this kind of bread with her. That's the start of my bread obssesion thanks to her. Now it' s not just bread that they offer, their variety of bread, widen the food selection grows now they cater breakfast, lunch and even coffee. In this busy place take a bite of their bread and enjoy your coffee. Good morning.
This branch recently opened a quaint little tea room, and it was probably one of the most relaxing dining experiences. I tried the Chicken Parm dish, and although the chicken itself had a small serving, there was a generous serving of marinara pasta. It is a relaxing break from the noise of the supermarket next to it. The ambiance of the little tea room won me over, and I'll definitely be coming back again.

As usual, The French Baker is excellent.
This outlet is located in a busy place next to a supermarket, but since I was in the mood for take-out, it didn't matter much to me.
Their buns are soft and flavorful, never disappointed when I go there. I consider The French Baker one of my top spots to eat in Manila. :)
Very good: Egg salad sandwich. Iced tea. Knowledgeable and amiable cashier (forgot to take note of her name). Wifi that actually works!
Not so good: As can be expected, the ambiance is noisy since the supermarket is nearby.
Tip: you might be tempted to do some work here since I mentioned working wifi. If you do, bring headset or earplugs.
Update on Aug 2015: They now have a tea room which would separate patrons from the supermarket noise. Earplugs or headphones are now optional.
