Got the curry pork katsu, takoyaki and skewers.

All were good.

Topped it off with a black sesame ice creams dessert.

I was really craving Okonomiyaki and I went back to Botejyu for a legit Okonomiyaki in the area.

We had Pork Ramen with Char Siew, cheese takoyaki and okonomiyaki.

I like the idea of refillable bonito flakes!!!!! Plus you get to customize your food with all the sauces and bonito flakes on your table.

It’s kinda pricy but for me the quality of the food is good. We were only few that time almost 9:30 PM on a regulat weekday. The staff is polite and accommodating to our requests.

Osaka street food experience? This is the closest that you can get, I guess, while in Manila. The ambiance is nice, as it’s seated at one of the new wings of the Mall of Asia. And the restaurant itself is spacious too. The crew are also very attentive and always ready to serve you with whatever you need. But, it should all come down to the food. You can say that it’s clean ‘coz you can see how they prepare all the food right before you enter the restaurant or are prepared right in front of your eyes. Clean wouldn’t be enough of course, for me, food is very delicious but nothing spectacular based from the three: ramen, okonomiyaki, and takoyaki, that I ordered. There are Japanese specialty restaurants (specializing) for each. But the taste of all of them is still authentic Japanese. So, all I can say is it can satisfy your craving with big meal servings as it’s a one stop shop for Japanese street food.

Ambiance is good, staff are friendly and accommodating, and the dishes are great! I liked their chicken karaage, since the chicken is crispy but still very juicy. Their original takoyaki is also good! Generous sauce and toppings and really tasty. This is sooo different from the ones you get at takoyaki food stalls. Moreover, their okonomiyaki is also one of the best I've tasted! Serving size is good, sauce and toppings are generous, great texture, and the components are cooked well. We ordered the premium moonlight okonomiyaki and it's the best! Their paitan ramen (ordered the one with chicken tempura) is worth trying too!

what also love about their dishes is that they serve portions that are worthy of their price, and you could actually try a lot of variety without emptying your wallet. They have a wide range in their menu and whenever you're craving for any japanese food, you could definitely find what you're looking for here.

Love yhe fact that Botejyu is a few steps away from that long shopping spree (window or not) we Pinoys indulge in during our well deserved weekends. Botejyu provides japanese comfort food right in the middle of such a busy mall. I ordered beef gyudon, ramen and tempura, the japanese staples, and I was greatly satiated and satisfied. Well worth every penny I spent!

The place had modern wooden interior and overall good ambience.

The customer service was really good, although I need to note that we did not go there during peak hours. They were very friendly and attentive to our needs, not to mention that they answered our questions patiently.

The food tasted amazing in general and I would probably be back here with my family.

Some people might have to argue that it’s a little pricey for the portions, and I would have to agree to some extent. But I was satisfied with my overall experience so it was worth it for me.

What we ordered:
1. Premium Moonlight Okonomiyaki
2. Teppan Pork Gyoza
3. Chicken Tempura Platter
4. Kobe Warabimochi

PMO - My boyfriend and I have agreed that this is the star of our meal. You can even see and taste the varying ingredients in each bite, definitely one of the better versions of okonomiyaki here in the PH. Each bite was actually quite good that it reminded me of the one I had in Osaka and it was quite similar to Dohtonbori’s Mixed Okonomiyaki.

TPG - Tasted like how gyoza should, but the winning factor was it’s crispy side and how the overall flavor really went well with the sauce.

CTP - Omg the chicken so so succulent and the batter mix was yummy!

KW - I once ate this in Kyoto and I’ve always wondered what it was called (since I just randomly bought it in the streets lol). I have longed to taste it again so I was super excited to try Botejyu’s take on it and I must say, I wasn’t disappointed! I would’ve preferred it to have more powder but I’m just happy I got to eat it again, haha. It wasn’t as perfect as the one I had in JP, but it’s a pretty good version of it in my opinion.

-

Update (07-02-19) - One year after our first visit
I rated Botejyu from a 4 to a 5! They were consistent with great CS and yummy food! We ordered a few new dishes this time around: takoyaki and the bacon garlic rice (sorry, I can’t remember the name!)

The takoyaki was superb! The outside was crisp whilst being soft on the inside. I loved the tako inside and how it tasted, it seemed really fresh and blended well with everything.

The rice dish was really good, the egg was a bit runny/ ‘malasado’ and the rice was garlicky and sort of oily. It’s a must-try!

The moonlight okonomiyaki is still awesome 👏🏻

Rich in taste and culture!

For first timers like me, the friendly waiter suggested for me to have their Premium Takoyaki and their Premium Moonlight Okonomiyaki.

Yummm--my!

The takoyaki is tasty and pretty filling. The umami flavor is savory and the smooth, hot, creamy center is amazing to chew! One ball and I am in fear of finishing all three in the serving! I opted to have the remaining 2 to go.

And yes, you can take away your left overs!

Now the Okonomiyaki is another thing. First of all, it smells WONDERFUL! Second, it looks just delicious! My mouth watwrs just remembering it! It's a combination of beef, pork, shrimp and squid with fried egg. Fried with their special batter of secret sauce, cabbage and japanese mayonnaise makes for an interesting texture. It is somewhat a hamburger patty consistency but when you bite into it, you can taste the different proteins used.

It is really an experience so I will definitely go back.

Bonus points as I was able to take away my left overs.

Everything is excellent. Tendon donburi was nice and the yempura batter creamy. We got free allstar takoyaki from a credit card promo. Very nice takoyaki crispy outside and soft inside with a big chunk of octopus. Karaage for the kids was crispy and juicy. Okonomiyaki was okay. Roasted pork smells grilly nice. Everything was great except the Curry katsu. Super salty! The pork meat was the culprit not the curry sauce. Very wierd why this dish alone was salty compared to the others. But after a simple inquiry regarding the salt level they immediately took the dish for analysis and replaced with a better one. Very good customer service.

Upon entering, they would greet and assist you. The place wasnt that crowded.

The girlfriend's order was sukiyaki and she loved it (well she doesnt NOT love food). It is served on a hot plate with glass noodles and half cooked egg on top plus a side of a lettuce salad. Knowing she's not much fan of greens, she surprisingly loved her salad because it was that good!!

I ordered their katsu curry and it was heavenly. It is served with the salad as well. The sauce was thick but not spicy (or was it just me) and the chicken fillet was tender.

We also orderedtheir gyoza and by far, this is the most authentic gyoza we've tried. It's crispy and soft and the flavor gushes out at one bite.

We also had their takoyaki which we attained because of their promo for every 1000php order. It was huge and (for the girlfriend, two thumbs up for having put lots of katsuboshi)

We'll definitely dine again!

We ended up dining here because the nearby restaurant was fully booked.

I'll give 4.5 stars to the staff who sales talked me to try their resto. 4 to the resto manager or supervisor who happens to be my aunts former student as she always asked us if we are ok, it would be better if she gives us discount or a freebie.

For the food I'll give 4 stars to all the food that we ordered except for the okonomiyaki and katsudon.

For the 4 star food, we enjoyed the crispy salad that comes in 4 tasty dressings, ceasar, sesame, corn and spicy olive oil. The ceasar salad taste good. The vegetables were fresh and crisped and had a thicker bacon. The takoyaki is at par with the takoyakis in osaka in terms of the flavor and texture. I read some reviews that the shrimp tempura were oily, but the one we ordered were not. Its crispy and big but the
tempura sauce needs improvement as it still lack some flavor. The grilled pork is tender with the right amount of bbq flavor. I also like the chicken karaage. The moonlight yakisoba also taste good.

Our not so favorite food were the okonomiyaki and the katsudon. The okonomiyaki though it taste better than Chibo's, the texture is still heavy. I still prefer fukuoka's okonomiyaki where there are lots of veggies than pancake mix. The katsudon pales in comparison with that of Yabu. The pork taste bland and dry.

Price wise, i think its on the pricier side. Overall I will still consider dining here again.

Finally tried this place. Food is okay, beef curry, sukiyaki, and takoyaki were not so bad. The actual serving portion was different from the photo on the menu, it was surprisingly small. Pricing is good though, but given the tiny portion, you end up ordering more.
Resto is loud, staffs greet you shouting, a lot of banging from the kitchen, and you need to make an effort to call for service. Better eat and go, not a place where you can enjoy your food in peace.

Osaka, known as the kitchen of Japan, possesses many food cultures, is also the birthplace of Botejyu, a restaurant famous for its okonomiyaki and takoyaki.

Located in the #MOAEATS, a new Eat Street at the North Wing of the SM Mall of Asia, Boteyju boasts on fresh and quality ingredients, and an appealing open kitchen. Watching those chefs in action can excite one's appetite.

Okonomiyaki is a teppan-yaki dish made famous during World War II, as food was scarce. It is made with a flour batter then cooked like a pancake and topped with cabbage, meat or seafood, and some sauces. What made Boteyju different from others is the innovation of adding mayonnaise. Nishino, the founder of the restaurant thought of adding this condiment to level up the dish, others soon followed. Now, they leveled it up again by using Gouda Cheese. We loved their Shrimp Okonomiyaki as the flavors were light and the ingredients blended perfectly well together.

We also tried their Takoyaki, or octopus balls. They have 6 topping variants and you can even order a sampler. Trying to shy away from the regular fare, we opted for their Cheesy Omelette Takoyaki, 6 pieces of giant balls topped with egg and gooey cheese. It was the perfect takoyaki - crispy on the outside, creamy-custard-y on the inside, with a bigger-than-normal octopus piece. The added egg and cheese added more umami making it an addicting dish.

Botejyu Philippines serves more than just these Japanese snacks. They also have modern dishes like Okosoba (okonomiyaki and yakisoba) and rice meals with sweet grilled pork. Definitely worth a visit!

If you are a japanese food fanatic, then this place is for you. Huge servings and very fast, too! Ideal for groups so that you can order other options to share. I recommend to order Okonomiyaki for the first timers. Omit the rice as serving is big. One thing though, their tempura's breading is quite cakey - not the classic japanese bread crumbs. Also, they don't use radish on their tempura dip/sauce. Nori flakes, bonito flakes, okonomiyaki sauce, other spices are served on the table as part of the condiment selection (awesome-ness!).🙌🏻

Side Note: One thing you are assured of though.. The veggies are fresh. Found a live slug in my side salad.

A hankering for Japanese food and the urge to try something new led us to Botejyu, which is in the new, yet-to-fully open part of MOA near the IMAX theatre. There was a fair amount of people in it, considering that it was a weekday.

I got the pork katsu (which was cooked really well!! 10/10 can appreciate well-cooked katsu), and was appropriately full after the meal. This was the general consensus after we ate (except for one, since she felt her chicken was too little for the price) which is ok, but you always want to be "yaaaassss" after a meal.

I do like the takoyaki though, which was crispy and fluffy! The okonomiyaki was already a bit much, but we managed to polish it off anyway.

I'd go here again, if only for the katsu! Also, the menu can be a bit overwhelming, so just prepare yourself for that.

Parking: Available, if not full (😄)

Servers: most of them are polite and goes out of their way to, you know, be of service. There was one who felt.. dazed. Must be something on the mind. Didn't affect service though,

Place: spacious, comfy, especially if you get to sit in one of the few booths. Clean, well-lit.

Food:
We tried
Premium okonomiyaki: we only have two places to compare their okonomiyaki to: Ippudo's and Octoboy's. Both are more flavorful, not sure if it's because those are more salty or what. But! No worries because extra bonito flakes are on the table. Plus okonomiyaki sauce. Plus those little bottles of spices that taste really nice. Topping-wise (or filling, whichever), it was abundant. :)

Paitan charsiu: flavorful. The carrot strips and spring onions worked really well. -That- is the appropriate size of charsiu for me (neither huge nor tiny). Also very tender and full of flavor. Not too much fan of the men though.

Pork cutlet with demi-glace: served with an egg sunny side up and lettuce with goma sauce, and ample amount of japanese rice. Yum. Tender pork slices. (Sauce tastes like katsu sauce for me -- N)

Hot green tea: unlimited, I think? Cause I asked them to reheat mine, it came back with more tea ☺ baka mabait lang yung server namin, hihi.

Would I recommend it on a weekend or during a holiday? IF you are willing to brave the traffic that is MOA, go ahead :D Kidding aside, it's a good place to dine in. The place where it's located in MOA is newly-opened, and not too full. Might eventually be difficult to get a table there.

Japanese restaurants have been sprouting here and there around the metro and this one is specializing in that Osaka favorite: the Okonomiyaki. The MOA branch though is a bit inconspicuous since it is located at a newly opened wing  and there is not a lot of human traffic in the area. That said, the place itself is huge and spacious. The staff was very helpful in explaining some of the unfamiliar menu items, for which I am thankful. I was expecting though that the okonomiyaki will be cooked on our table but it was cooked in the kitchen. Still, the flavors and the presentation was spot on.

So we ordered the premium okosoba which is okonomiyaki with soba noodles in it. The serving looked small for two people, but when we started eating it, it was so laden with the soba noodles that we got full  fast. It is advisable to eat it while it is hot. If you eat it after it has cooled down a bit, then it's not as good. We also had the Takoyaki. We had the regular one and it was also good. It had real octopus parts inside it but I found the batter a bit heavier than the takoyaki we had at Osaka. Taste wise, it was good. The best part and my favorite is the bacon garlic rice which came with a sunny side up egg. It was served on a small skillet and the bacon cubes were chunky good. The bacon garlic rice was actually my favorite aside from the okosoba but my brother told me, that the dish, though delicious, was too simple given its price.

They don't serve sushi in this place so if you're a sushi fan, don't go here. But the okosoba is a good enough reason to eat here. Okonomiyaki and takoyaki are both famous street food in Osaka, and they are very cheap. But since this place is a bit high end and they gave their own twists with the recipe, I think the price is reasonable enough.

This place is in the newer section of MOA that is being redeveloped and sort of hidden. That is a shame, this is a very bright and modern restaurant that should be in the open high visibility areas of the mall. Their decor and design is modern and borders on a very up market modern Japanese restaurant in Japan. Servers were very attentive and polite as well as the manager. The authenticity of the flavors reflect a quality only found in dishes with imported ingredients and we found out that this is the case. Their ingredients are imported from Japan to duplicate the tastes and flavors you would find in Japan. Gyoza was not the standard frozen potstickers you see everywhere else, but rich in flavors. The Okonomiyaki was flavorful and very hearty as well as as the Sobayaki. All and all, this was a very pleasurable dining experience for a eating in a mall. Great job and we will return.

One of the new places to go for some authentic tasting takoyaki and okonomiyaki. You'll also be surprised that they have a wide variety of okonimakis like ramen/yakisoba-based (not vegetable). My personal fave among the dishes we ordered were the cheesy omelet takoyaki (it's crispy, milky texture outside blends well on the creamy inside!!) and premium yakisoba which was overflowing with so much flavor and aroma. My only problem with the yakisoba is the servings size, which is too small (or at least for me, because it was too delicious not to overeat!) The staff were very accommodating and nice and the place was very comfortable too! Will definitely go back to grab more of their yakisoba!! 😋

Our Tuesday dining group chanced upon this new wing at the Mall of Asia. We got curious and entered.

The ambience was Japanese but the cuisine was fried hodge podge of different kinds of seafood, meats and vegetables with eggs or potatoes binding them. We thought it was a bit pricey.

But the amount of food served and the taste made up for the price! We all enjoyed what we ordered.

We'll be back. You can count on it.

It was a nice dining experience and it's situated at this new area in MoA together with Caramia, Morganfield's, Paper Moon, etc. Ordered grilled pork rice bowl, exquisite oyakodon and premium moonlight okonomiyaki. The first 2 are actually rice bowls and they have huge servings as well. The pork was really tender and was grilled just right. With the oyakodon, nothing really special. The okonomiyaki is good, has bacon, shrimps and all other on it, is pretty thick too and it has an egg on top. Food was good but for a japanese restaurant, will probably not come back again as there are a lot better japanese restaurants out there.

The day my fiance proposed, he took me to eat here! He actually dined here with my parents a couple days prior to ask them for my hand in marriage and my family wouldn't stop talking about how delicious their food was! Growing up in Japan for 6 years, we have some pretty high expectations for Japanese food.. When we dined here, I couldn't make up my mind as to what to order! They all looked so good! I ended up ordering their plum wine over rocks and Sukiyaki with Gyoza and Takoyaki for appetizers. Oh my gulay. I was mindblown at the presentation. First bite of our appetizers, I was really pleased. The food is very filling and I believe, is worth the price. Definitely coming back again! Would definitely recommend.

One of the newest restaurants in SM Mall of Asia's newest wing. Botejyu specializes in okonomiyaki and takoyaki.

Personally not a fan of takoyaki but I loved it! We ordered the all star takoyaki which features all their takoyaki flavors from the original to spicy mentai meyo.

We also ordered their Premium Moonlight okonomiyaki. Unlike other Japanese restaurants who offers Okonomiyaki, Botejyu has more meat.

You can also try to pair both entrees with their umami sauce which I think made both delicious.

Nice ambiance, food was very tasty, no need for condiments 😊 Staff was very attentive, and we liked how they greeted us but I think they were a bit "over-attentive" because it was obvious that they are waiting for our plates to be empty so they can buss it out immediately. But it's okay, I understand they want to give great service. 😊 I suggest the staff to smile more 😊

I really like their bacon and cream cheese but it was a bit oily. Okonomiyaki was at par with their price and the size is for sharing. The salad was a hit, very crispy and fresh. Carbonara was not my type but I like the texture of the udon they used, it was very chewy. I recommend the drink for peole who likes ginger, very refreshing and cool.

Recommended by a friend, the boyf and I tried this new restau in MOA called Botejyu. The price of their food is okay. Their dishes are very tasty and the portions are good to share. I guess the highlight is their Okonomiyaki which we were not able to finish because we already got too full with their Takoyaki, Shrimp Salad, Beef Rice Bowl and Paitan Ramen with Chicken Tempura. It got a little overwhelming since most of the dishes we ordered are with Japanese Mayo. All in all, it was a great dining experience.

My first time to try okonomiyaki and Botejyu did not disappoint. The servings were big, the flavors were great and their other items, like the edamame, the takoyaki balls, the tempura, and the steak strips were delicious. Warning though: no sushi or sashimi here. Not bad prices either.

Food was good and tasty. Price is somewhat pricey but ok. Serving size was a bit small for us to say it is affordable. Menu can be a challenge due to the fact it has almost 30 pages to tackle.

We tried the donburis (beef and pork cutlet) and 3 kinds of okonomiyakis. Also tried takoyaki and edamame. Adding bonito on the table as a free condiment is a delight. Serving is big, taste is good and the price is just right. Not so pricey compared to other Japanese restos. Overall, it satisfied my cravings. Will definitely go back to this place.

We went on their second day, and am glad we did!! The experience was pleasant, let me start off by listing down the food we had.

Toriten ramen, demiglace don, premium okonomiyaki, negi oko, carbonara, warabi mochi, tonkatsu don.

Will only discuss the ones that made an impact on my taste buds! The carbonara is a must order. I really really enjoyed it and how creamy it was even after I popped the egg yolk. One serving of it is enough to fill your tummy for the rest of the day. In short, if you are ordering this, don't order lots anymore!

The negi oko or the beef and cheese okonomiyaki is also great. The premium okonomiyaki had more takoyaki taste!

The tonkatsus were actually great, very meaty and not dry at all.

The warabi mochi is not something i would order again. It's just like eating gelatin with powder. I didnt enjoy that at all.

Food was a bit pricey but service is ok nonetheless except for two things!!

We asked for our free food since they have stubs they gave us. Our bill reached 2k and that's entitled to free takoyaki. I asked their servers and they all said that they will double check, then I asked their manager, she said that we can claim it next time. Then after paying the bill, another staff of theirs offered for us to claim the free food. What??? So confusing. Anyway we ended up not claiming the free item anymore as we were in a hurry to catch our movie.

Another lowdown is that they included a bowl of rice in our bill. It may be my fault also that I didnt check it before paying, but they included it even if we didnt order it.

Anyway, would I come back? Only for the carbonara. omg.

We went here for lunch on a Friday (yes, work day). There were initially two of us. Upon entering, we saw two officemates already settled, (hooray since we can order and try more food!) so we joined them.

We ordered based on what our officemates ordered (we got something different from what they were having). They got the seafood okonomiyaki and beef curry udon. So we decided to have the premium okosoba and the paitan ramen with char-siu pork.

Oh, since they just opened, they have a promo. For a minimum spend xxxx, you get a free item from the menu:
P500 - free scoop of ice cream
P1,000 - free gyoza
P1,500 - free takoyaki
*Free item redeemable on your next visit, but we were given the chance to redeem it right at that moment. And since we already ordered an okonomiyaki and an okosoba, we opted to get the gyoza instead of the takoyaki (even if our total bill was at P1,700. And yes, we asked if we can have the ice cream and the gyoza, but they refused lol!)

We waited long for our orders to arrive, around 30 minutes (and we only have an hour for our lunch break).

Serving size for each dish was quite huge. But I guess the serving of okonomiyaki was larger than the ramen and udon. There were 4 of us, yet we had a hard time finishing everything, and felt really really stuffed after. My advice, if you're in a group, don't order too much of the okonomiyaki, as it is good for sharing.

The ambiance of the place is okay. Typical Japanese restaurant. Nothing really noticeable. But if you can't stand waiting for your food to be served on your table, then you can stand (literally) and watch the chefs prepare your meal.

The food was okay. They were delicious, but that's it. It didn't make much impact on me to make me crave for it and come back for any of the dishes we've tried. I think it's weird that I liked the ramen and udon more than the okonomiyaki and okosoba. By the way, the ramen we chose came with pork, but in a chicken broth soup instead of the usual pork. You can actually notice and taste the difference, but not really in a bad way. The beef curry udon was yummy, but it wasn't spicy at all. Not even a little. For me that's a good thing since I'm not into spicy food, but my friends are.

Pricing is also okay. I think most of the dishes were priced less than P500. I believe the most expensive dish from our choices was the premium okosoba (around P400+).

Service was fine as well. The servers were attentive to all our requests. They were friendly although we can sense that they were already feeling a little rattled due to the number of customers.

Overall, the experience was okay. It's worth the try, that I can say.

P.S. The okosoba is not part of the picture 😞
