They have an addicting shawarma rice. But the amount of meat varies every time I go there and the basmati rice is quite expensive (90Php per plate). But overall, this is a must try for all shawarma lovers.
Quick meal after dropping by the cemetary...
We had a fairly easy time traversing the usually blocked EDSA on a holiday. We planned to stay longer at the cemetary but the weather did not cooperate. My husband and I decided to go off on our own and pop by Behrouz.
We both ordered the chelo beef kebab with basmati rice and shared an order of mutabal. I liked their mutabal actually, nothing greasy. Chelo beef kebab was generous with the rice. Garlic sauce aplenty as well as hot sauce if you are so inclined. Serving time is fast and the place was relatively clean. A step above what a canteen looks like. But at those prices, I really can't complain.
Just found out that they serve ice cream cakes. Looked interesting but we didn't indulge.
Been here numerous times with my wife or with my son and it doesn't disappoint. The food is simple, yet hearty and filling.
If there are 2 kinds of food that I could eat on a daily basis, it would be this kind of fare and Chinese food.
I am not a fan of Persian Cuisine but Behrouz is worth it!
Lamb chops is so delicious!
Ox brain yum!
Will definitely dine here again :)
We were able to order our dessert in Icebergs :)
It was our first time in Behrouz Santana Grove but we've eaten many times in Behrouz QC. We were hungry after more than an hour on the road from Batangas. We wanted humus and pita bread-- the pita bread was perfect but the humus had more garlic and yogurt than we expected. The Chelo Beef Kabab was prepared well as we longed for. We tried also their Chelo Khoresht Bademjan, it was good but could have been better with more tomato sauce. The price for a complete meal is about P300, quite steep but a meal is good for sharing by two. On the way home we saw Behrouz BF Paranaque being constructed. Good it is nearer our house :)
This place is like a level up of a canteen. It doesn't have a smell, but you know the place could be more maintained. I was starving from heavy traffic on my way down south and from cancelled plans.
The food is cheap! I'm not used to it being cheap anymore. Living in Makati has made me expect high prices for food. I ordered a shawarma rice and upgraded it to Basmati P180. It didn't take long to be served given that i was the only customer. The basmati rice was a heaping! What i like about it is it is also soft and fluffy. The food is simply done and served to you. There is no plating of any kind. But i like that it's broken down this way because it makes you choose which condiment to mix with the meat. I started out with onions and tried to include tomatoes. That didn't work for me so i doused the meat and onion mixture with garlic and chili sauce. Ahhh! That gave it more flavor and tasted more like shawarma to me. I slowly added the cucumber and it balanced out the spice. I didn't doubt that i wouldn't finish the rice, but i ended up leaving some. This food always makes me want to drink a soda P40.
If you look up, you'll see several shisha waterpipes. Am not sure if this is for display or for use.
We Dine here Sunday dinner,The food is Not that what I expecting to be,It lack of something Persian taste.
We ordered shawarma with biryani rice,Ox brains which is amazing when you put Salt in it,Also Lamb chops its a little but tough Nothing special but the onion and tomatoes in top of it Is so sweet,I ordered Also grilled onions and tomatoes Which is Absolutely amazing it goes in every food that you will order,The Pita bread is nice soft and taste burned which is Supposed to be with Humus on the side but my Dad Said it's not fine so It must be one thing they should change but the taste is Good,Beef Kebab is Tender with beefy flavored yummy! For the drinks banana yogurt shake is relaxing and taste better with Others I've tasted..
The waiters are always Around so when ever you need something very easy to call their attention even when we went there half full of pips eat there,Service is Good Just ask them to repeat your Order before you place it.
The Place is Not so much pop for me Just a Shisha pipes decorations and Big picture of the Food in the wall but Its okey,The price is reasonable with the food,So I think Im gonna Go back here But I will put salt on to my foods next time
Behrouz is our go to place if we wanna eat mediterranean cuisine. I especially love their shawarma rice and BTO. I also like their Chicken Kabab. I wish, though, we can order extra cheese for the shawarma, we like our shawarma with cheese. 😁
It was a midnight snack moment. We ordered Hummus with BTO, 2 pita breads to match the hummus. I enjoyed it actually. For PhP100.
What we ordered next was Shawarma Rice and Shawarma (large). The shawarma rice was served with Jasmine rice on a separate plate and the serving size was good. About my large shawarma... at that time I wasn't in the mood to get my hands dirty (yes I know that this was the wrong way to eat it), I used my utensils -opened up the shawarma on my plate and poured a generous amount of garlic sauce and hot sauce. Oh I enjoyed it! I was able to savor every bite...
Service/Staff: 2.5/5 (you might have a hard time calling their server's attention)
Food Quality: 3/5 (pita bread was not warm at all when served)
Price: 4/5
Their Shawarma has a smaller version but I suggest you go for the large one. :)
Price is great without the trade-offs in quality and portion servings.
You'd have a hearty meal even at a price of P130.
Their chicken barbeque, beef taka, lamb kebab, and BTO (beef, tomato, onions) are the few that I can definitely recommend.
#Kebabs, #moutabel, #fatira :9 for a family missing delicious authentic #MiddleEasternCuisine at a good price! 4.5 stars for the food and 2.5 stars for the place as it's very Souk inspired. #Yummy #HalalFood
Big serving, fairly priced. I like their chelo kebab kobideh, tastes good! while my food trip buddy likes their shawarma. I have been to this place for 4 times now i think :p
-affordable
-nice place/small but well ventilated
-specialty - shawarma
we were having dinner in santana grove and decided to try a diff restau aside from our regular, and opt to try behrouz, place were never appealing to me before but ended up here since i was missing persian food, we went inside because it was raining, restau itself lacked persian identify, diner couch need upholstery. But when we got our food it was tasty and delicious, less oil w/c i loved, and good value or serving. We ordered the bto w/ hummus for appetizer and beef kebab w/ rice for main course.
Will surely be back for more
Behrouz came out at a time when Persian food & Middle Eastern cuisine was just about establishing its niche in the local scene, in the midst of booming food fashion dominated by Western varieties. It was one of those hole in the wall joints that mostly catered to the Middle Eastern populace & some teens to mid aged folks out for a quick meal after a long night of partying in the late 90's.
Behrouz takes me back to my Highschool days, their first branches in Xavierville & Timog were usual hangouts after bar hops & band practices, taking turns with another joint called Omar Khayam.
While options & alternatives have sprouted rapidly, Behrouz remains to be a formidable player in the market because of its No frills, Non fine dining approach that's pocket perfect for foodies like me. After more than a decade, I finally got to reminisce that good 'ol ambience at their Santana grove shop. My wife had perpetually been non appreciative of such cuisine 'coz of its strong flavors & conservatism when it comes to her palate but that one fine day was all it took to turn it around.
Interiors were pretty much a throwback of how their first branches were like back then. Colorful tables & chairs illuminated by their artful walls & dim lighting made distinct the Persian fastfood ambience.
Kicked things off with a stack of Pita wraps (P10) & a BTO plate (P90) that's Beef, Tomatoes & Onions...simple recipe but certified genius! I could live on these for a week! Ground meat was well done made zestier by their very own Garlic paste & Tomato chili
The Ox Brain (P90) was a good supplement to this indulgence with the right salt, tang & citrus. The reliable Shawarma rice (P140) was another hit! Meat was chewy& flavorful on top of buttery rice spiced up by fresh onions. Had some Humus (P80) on the side that added swag to my BTO, drizzled with Garlic paste! Their Beef & Lamb Kabab are off the roof! Well charred & peppered, very tender & marinade juicy!
Other notables are the Chelo Kabab Kobideh (P270) & Salad Olivieh that are shoo ins when I return. Behrouz never lost a beat... To me, they remain to be a niche favorite. Service is good, cooktime is fast & prices are reasonable. In Arabic, Behrouz is defined as " Prosperous " & " Successful " well, they indeed are after all these years.
I just ate here yesterday and I've only eaten here twice, but both times were very pleasant.
They're just a little weird with the pricing. Some of the combination meals would be cheaper if you order them individually. So as a tip, especially if you want to try more variants, I would suggest building your own meals.
My mom got the Chelo Kabab Kobideh which is 2 pcs of grilled beef, a mountain of Basmati rice with butter and 2 pcs of grilled whole tomatoes. The meat was very flavorful and the serving size is huge so it could even be to share. At Php 270.00 this meal is a steal. But for the same price you can order everything individually to get an extra tomato which in my opinion is worth the trouble of saying more words. To me, because I love tomatoes, 2 pcs of grilled tomato is not nearly enough.
Then for myself I got 2 pcs of bread @ Php 10.00 each, 1 beef Kabab @ Php 80.00, 1 small shawarma @ Php 50.00, and Deep Fried Ox Brain @ Php 80.00. With the total of Php 230.00 I had more food than the actual combination and I even got to try more things. The shawarma is mostly meat which I guess is a good thing if you like that. The Ox brain is an acquired taste but I liked it, so if you're not that adventurous don't get it.
So far I've only had good things to say. It's not my favorite Persian restaurant but for sure you get your money's worth. I'll definitely come back to try their other dishes.
