It was a Sunday night when I went there. I didn't mind eating alone even if the place was crowded, since I'd been looking for a noodle house after church. I was impressed with their customer service service as they really assisted me and gave me options of where I should sit. And of course, I love the Tsukumen that I ordered. A unique way of eating your ramen:) Keep up the good work

By far the best ramen place I’ve ever been. I just can’t get enough of the ebi’s broth. Highly recommended. And the pork strip just melts in your mouth. The flavor is just so balanced. Unlike other ramen house I’ve been where the broth is just too salty, my head hurts from all the MSG they must have put in the broth. And with what we ordered you can really taste the difference between the ramen. I also appreciate that the egg used is organic and! Cooked perfected.

The gyoza is alright too. Price is reasonable and staff are friendly. Ommedetto!

Friends who reside in Marikina have been giving me rave reviews about Tongara Ramen for some time now.

Located in foodie haven Lamp Quarters, this new ramen spot is lauded for its special broth which is also its namesake: tongara – a mixture of tonkotsu, broth made from pork bones, and torigara, broth made from chicken bones. The resulting broth has an additional layer of sweet-savory flavor to it that differentiates Tongara Ramen’s offerings from those of other ramen places in the metro.

The best ramen in the Metro. We’re here almost every week and we keep coming back. The broth of the Tongara ramen is to die for.

The chicken karaage is very tasty and juice unlike those other karaages that are dry. I just wish there’s another branch aside from Marikina. But I dont mind the travel because it is very mich worth if. THE BEST.

Kampai Night at Tongara

Last May 4, 2019 , I was lucky to be invited for Tongara Ramen Kampai Night. Its a free flowing cocktails located at Lamp Quarters at my beloved city of Marikina.

Tongara Ramen is one of the popular ramen house in Marikina. Its my first time to go there and heard a lot of positive feedbacks and this time I can speak for myself .

Together with other Marikina Foodies, we were able to try this new launch alcoholic beverages.

The good thing about these alcoholic beverages that i tried , its not too strong for me . Im not a drinker but i liked the taste .

Now lets talk about Tongara Ramen. Tongara Ramen is more than a tasty bowl of noodles. Ramen Master Makoto Okazaki spent over a decade, honing his culinary skill and 3 yrs. percecting the Tongara Broth. No other Ramen House im Japan does these techniques anymore. Perfection in a bowl , rich broth labored over for hours, fresh springy wheat noodles savory , mouthwatering seasoning , and tasty breaded pork belly and creamy soft boiled egg all carefully selected to create a well balanced meal .

What nakes Tongara Ramen different? Its a rich organic flavourful broth, no flavor enhancers can replicate. You can instantly taste the difference even on the first slurp. Its all about the broth . Thats the key to be the best ramen.

If you love spicy ramen , try this Tantanramen. Tongara's rich broth with deep flavors of sesame , and a bit of chilli pepper heat topped with minced meat, preserved japanese vegetables , Menma, Negi and Ajitama. For only 560 pesos . Serving was generous.

These spicy chicken and chicken karaage was so good. So crispy and one of the best chicken karaage ive tasted! Price is 200 pesos only .

Chahan is 150 pesos and Gyoza is 200 pesos .

Over all experience : Great Food and the best ramen in Marikina !

Thank you Tongara Ramen for inviting us 😊

And for having me 😊 always a ramen lover🍜
They also have a branch Escario Central Mall Cebu.

Tongara Ramen launched their new beverage menu which include cocktails and alcoholic beverages. According to Vinch, one of the co-owners, these menu are crafted to perfectly match their offerings. They are balanced, not too strong and not too heavy.

NEW BEVERAGE MENU & FOOD
Aside from the local beers, Japanese beers and sake, they have added 5 new choices. The best for me would be the Tongara Sour. This cocktail is a combination of shochu, calamansi and soda water. It works well with the ramen and the gyoza. Second choice is the sake. It was smooth and can make you feel refreshed during the summer weather. Just ask them to chill it for you!

As for the food, the broth is definitely unique for Tongara Ramen. It is thick and flavorful while the noodles are cooked well. It matches the chicken karaage perfectly well. I am not sure why, but this chicken karaage is not oily and yet very flavorful. Definitely, a must-try on their menu.

Definitely worth your time to visit this ramen place in Lamp Quarters Marikina. Although the price is at mid-range, the quality of their offering matches it. Until the next review!

Jya Mata Ne!

Probably the most decent ramen place i've been to. Went here on a Thursday night. The place is so cute and cozy
, has ample seating plus meron din seats outside.

Price is sakto for the quality of the food. Totally worth it.

Food is the bomb! We tried tongara ramen and seafood ramen. Everyrthing was perfect. The noodles, soup base, pork, sarap! Serving size is okay too. Di ka mabibitin. The only downside is they dont allow take out. So whatever you order you must finish it para di sayang.

Staff is accommodating too. Will definitely go back again and again and again 😁

I ordered the Tantanramen, and I loved the taste! One of my favorite Tantanmens in Manila, this one can compete with the ranks of Ukokkei and Yushoken/ Mendokoro. The dish would have been better with more minced pork, though. Will come back and have my husband (a ramen lover) try this out.

Dined here using Zomato Gold. We had Chashu, tongaru ramen, and Tantanmen. One of the best places you could get your ramen fixed. Chashu has a wonderful texture, Sliced just perfectly to tease your pallet; melts in your mouth! I love the ramens, well-balanced flavor with a right texture of noodles. This is what it means to have your ramen "fixed". I surely recommend; wont hesistate to to return.

This place is highly underrated. The broth was rich and flavorful. Much like Kichitora’s paitan, but cheaper, and tastier (and imo has more generous servings). The noodles absorb the broth well and give that velvety mouthfeel when slurped. The chashu is off sometimes but it doesn’t spoil the bowl that much. Overall this is the 2nd best ramen in the Philippines as per my list.

Tried the Shoyu Ramen and it's very, very good. Noodles are top-notch, broth is very, very flavorful, on par with some of the best ramen restos out there. Gyoza is pretty good too. Would recommend to other ramen afficionados. This place is a definite gem in Marikina. If this were located in Makati, I'm sure it would've been a hit with foodies a long time ago. Only downside is that it shares very limited parking space with other Lamp Quarters restos. An alternative is to park along the road if parking's full. Although, on a busy late Friday/Saturday night, you might still find it difficult to find parking even along the road.

Edit Aug 9, 2019 Fri: Third time here for me and my wife, I think. We don't frequent this place because our ramen cravings don't usually come at night or on the way home (we pass this way every night. Tonight, we weren't exactly craving it but were looking for a place we could get drinks after dinner, so we thought we'd try some of their cocktails. It was a bonus they had Zomato Gold.

Wife and I shared a bowl of ramen, extra noodles, an ajitama, an order of gyoza, chicken karaage, and their high ball. Everything was great, ramen still consistently good. High ball was a little bit light on the whiskey. No buzz even after two glasses, only got us feeling a little bit sleepy, nothing more. Was worth a shot. Will try the others next time.

We went there earlier for their bowls of their junior ramen. I ordered their ebi miso ramen while jowa ordered the tongara ramen. Their ramen's broth is legit and flavorful. It is not your usual tonkatsu-based ramen because you can taste the fermented soybeans which added twist to their specialty ramen. The noodles could be improved by serving it a bit harder (i think you may request for this one). Though price wise, you could get a cheaper ramen in a different restaurant with the same quality and great taste. I want to commend their chashu which is relatively comparable to famous ramen houses' (Yushuken and Mendokoro). The meat is tender and grilled to perfection! The burnt outlook of their chashu might disturb you but it REALLY tastes good. Lastly, the ambiance is also good and the staff was friendly.

Tongara Ramen was first established in Shinjuku, Tokyo on April 2013 by Ramen Master Makoto Okazaki. The first branch in the Philippines was established in Cebu by Dong Juan Group, and recently opened their Manila branch in Lamp Quarters Marikina.

Okazaki created the now famous tongara broth. A special blend of Tonkotsu (Pork Bone Broth) and Torigara (Chicken Bone Broth).

We were able to try the Tongara Ramen and other bestselling dishes during our visit in a not quite big ramen house with a real Japanese feel interior in Lamp Quarters.

🍜Tongara Ramen for Php380.00- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
“Combination of pork and chicken broth. Rich organic flavorful broth simmered for hours, fresh springy wheat noodles, tender braised pork belly and a creamy soft-boiled egg sprinkled with all natural seasonings.”

🍜Tantanramen for Php560.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
“Tongara’s rich broth with deep flavors of sesame and a bit of chili pepper heat. Topped with minced meat, vegetables, menma, negi and ajitama.”

🍜Tsukemen for Php475.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
“Cold ramen noodles topped with chascu, menma, negi, ajitama and dried seaweeds served together with a hot perfectly balanced dipping sauce.”

🍜Tongara Ebi Miso Ramen for Php220.00 (Junior Size) - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
“Tongara’s signature brothade even more special with fermented soybean and shrimps, topped with chashu, ebi, negi, menma, moyashi and ajitama.”

🍜Chicken Karaage for Php200.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5

🍜Gyoza for Php200.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5

All the ramens were absolutely good and my personal favorite will be the Tongara Ramen. It’s really tasty and flavorful, for sure I will be back again for this ramen.

By the way, no take out for ramen.

Tongara Ramen Marikina is open Monday to Thursday 10AM to 10PM and on Friday to Sunday 10AM until 12MN.

Quite enjoyable food in this little corner here. Not the best ramen, not the cheap too (but not Ippudo / Nagi levels), but certainly just right.  I enjoyed the chasu with the right amount of flavor and right char. We ordered fried rice too and I would have to say this is one of my favorite Jap fried rice versions.

Ramen enthusiast with a knack for rare and original creations? Then time to put Tongara Ramen on your list.

Tongara comes from the combined words of Tonkatsu (pork broth) and Torigara (chicken broth). And as its name implies, it's a unique flavor crafted by a certain Makoto Okazaki, a Japanese architect-turned-chef who has given more than a decade into making this masterpiece.

You might find their ramen bowls on the premium side in terms of price (P400-560), but that's to be expected given that what they serve here is not just some mass-produced fastfood quick bites, but a specialized cuisine that has years of passion and history behind it. Thankfully though, they also serve junior bowls for around P220-260! Yay for us cheapskates lol.

I tried three of their ramen- (1) Shoyu Ramen is for those who like it classic and traditional since the soy-based soup has a light taste. (2) Tantanmen Ramen is for those who want a very rich broth due to its sesame paste and chilli oil soup base. (3) Tongara Ramen is for the adventurous who has tried the typical ramen variants, and now wants something new- this is the ramen with the unique pork-chicken broth you usually won't see anywhere else. All types are yummy in their own way and are full of fresh and quality ingredients. They come with chashu, negi, menma, moyashi and ajitama.

The Karaage (fried chicken) is typical compared to other Japanese restaurants in its tier- soft, crunchy and flavorful. I'd also recommend their Gyoza as well due to being cooked properly and having a legit-tasting sauce. All in all, both of these should go well in complimenting your main ramen meal.

If you're looking for Ramen restaurants around Marikina. I will recommend Tongara. Located at Lamp Quartes.

We ordered Spicey chicken (6-8 pcs) and Tongara Ramen. Though pricey, masarap naman and big serving. Yung Ramen is good for 2. They also have the promo 10am-5pm you can avail the Junior bowl for 200php. But Im not sure kung gano kalaki kasi hindi namin naabutan. 395php is the regualar size.

Staffs are nice and accommodating. Mas malaki yung place unlike dun sa ibang restaurant around Lamp Quarters. Tapos yung place feels like na nasa Japan ka. Maganda ang interior design.

They accept Credit Card which is a plus for me.

Liked their Ramen, loved their gyoza and spicy chicken. Ramen broth is just right, gyoza is not too "gingery" which I like and spicy wings is crunchy not too spicy but can be a bit oily. Service was fast and friendly and servers were very attentive. We always go during lunch so we can avail of their junior sized ramen. Price is quite the same as other popular Ramen chains so it can be higher than your normal lunch budget. Love how cozy and authentic the place is. There are only 6 tables and a bar around the kitchen just like how they do it in Japan. It doesnt feel cramped though. Since it is situated in the Lamp Quarters, surrounding area looks great.street Parking can be tough especially during peak hours. All in all a place to go to when you are craving for Japanese.

Amidst the growing competition for authentic Japanese ramen, more international franchises arrive Philippine shores. The latest one is Tongara. This brand was established just 5 years ago in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Behind it is young Makoto Okazaki.

The difference of Tongara's ramen lies in its broth, for he uses the combination of tonkotsu (pork) and torigara (chicken). The output is a thicker and richer soup base. The mixture of two meat is evident in every sip.

I was invited by one of their owners, Lee Tajonera who also sat with me and Mia while we indulge in a number of their offerings. Lee is a certified foodie and has been everywhere searching for the best Japanese restaurant. His other partners, Vinch Cuevas and Ricky Nicolas are also passionate food enthusiasts.

Before slurping four different ramen bowls they prepared, we kicked off our journey with two of their best selling starters, Spicy Chicken Karaage and Gyoza (Both Php 200). The former was tasty with just the right amount of heat. I also appreciated that it wasn't as greasy. The latter was Mia's favorite, every bite of Gyoza was packed with delicious ground meat.

Tongara Ramen (Php 395) arrived first, the house special. I must say it does have a distinct character to it. The pork and chicken bones together created a light yet savory and sweet blend. It is topped with chashu, negi, menma (bamboo shoots) and ajitama.

Next was Tongara Ebi Miso Ramen (Php 260, Junior Bowl). It had the signature broth plus a touch of seafood, giving it an extra mile of flavors. One's palate will be in for a treat, especially if you prefer a mild soup while experiencing different tastes.

They also have the standard Shoyu Ramen (Php 260, Junior Bowl). This simple ramen bowl reminded me of home. Our cook used to prepare this when I was young. It was, back then, our go-to snack during the rainy season. Tongara has chashu, negi, menma, moyashi and ajitama on their version of Shoyu.

Tha last to order to arrive was my favorite that afternoon, Tantanramen (Php 560). The broth here is even more intensified with the presence of sesame and chili pepper. Although spicy, it was still forgivable and delicious slurp. It also has preserved Japanese vegetables, giving it a bit of tanginess.

Tongara's price points might be high for the Marikina crowd. But a true ramen lover won't mind. It is located at Lamp Quarters, Gil Fernando Avenue, Santo Niño, Marikina City.

Tongara Ramen was not a let down at all. I am so glad that we got to eat in this cozy ramen place. Everything that we ordered was really good. Their price is just right for the ingredients that they use in the all the ramens we ordered. If you are craving for ramen, and feel that Nagi is quite far from where you are, this is a must try. Quoting my brother's comment when he ate there, "Lumalaban sa Nagi"
Definitely coming back not just during rainy days, but even the sunniest and hottest days. Two Thumbs up too to the staff!

Can't decide if you want a Chicken or Pork broth for your Ramen cravings?

Don’t worry! Tongara's Ramen got you covered. Their broth is a combination of Tonkotsu (Pork) and Torigara (Chicken) which has been developed over time by Makoto Okazaki in Japan (and yep! It's now here in PH).

The Tongara broth has the perfect combination of rich Pork and tasty Chicken flavor in every sip. The broth is definitely savory and you can really taste the essence of the pork and chicken.

They also have other broths that you can try like Ebi Miso (Shrimp), Shoyu (soy-sauce based) and Tsukemen (served with a cold noodle separated from the sauce).

The price range for the regular bowls are around PHP 500. You’ll get a big bowl full of yummy Ramen! If you are somewhat worried about not being able to finish a big bowl, you can order a junior size bowl. The cost of junior bowls is less than PHP 300 between 10AM – 5PM.

Don’t forget to order some Karaage and Gyoza too!

We were brought here by an article online, so our expectations are already quite high.
It's a small place and we were the only ones there that time. The food serving is quite big so I just ordered a junior ramen (which is just right for me). THE RAMEN IS SOOOO GOOOOOD. The broth is thick, reminds me of Kichitora Ramen, it's a mix of pork and chicken broth. Noodles are also perfect for the soup, and they actually serve ajitamago with the ramen, not just boiled or soft-boiled egg.
Overall, the ramen is very very very nice, makes the travel to Marikina worthwhile.

I’ve gone to this ramen house 3 times already! Initially, I was wary if I would like it as I’ve been disappointed by a much heralded ramen house in another part of the metropolis. But surprise! Tongara’s ramen are delicious! And so are the chasu and karaage! I especially like the Tongara ramen and the tsukumen which you dip in a separate sauce. I was told that the tantanmen is also a favorite. The broth they use is very flavorful and served hot just the way I like it. The side order of chasu is different from the chasu of other ramen houses - this one absolutely stands out from the rest! The karaage will give stiff competition to other karaages! But the ramen itself? My personal opinion? I’d put it among top 3 or 4 of the ramens I’ve tried. And that is quite an achievement for this newcomer in the already crowded business of ramen houses in Metro Manila! And that is why I bring friends there!

First sip of the broth and I thought i was in ramen heaven. 😋 The broth (of Tongara ramen) is rich and thick that I could live on the broth alone. Noodles are firm and just right. But wait til you taste the chasu: smoky and a bit burnt on the edges... I just had to order an extra batch! Been going back every week and tried their gyoza (yummy and light), spicy chicken (crunchy with a bite 🔥) and chahan (toasty fried rice)! Of course, I keep on ordering the Tongara ramen. Good thing, it also comes in junior size.

If you’re not feeling ramen, their chashu/karaage paired with the chahan is also a good combination! Place can get full though since its small so it’s better to go at off times/weekdays.

Tongara Ramen just opened last April 6 and probably the most interesting place in Lamp Quarters. Well, for me. It is a franchise of Mententen, a local ramen restaurant in Shinjuku, Tokyo, that was established by Makoto Okazaki. The name Tongara encapsulates Okazaki’s broth as a combination of Tonkotsu (Pork Broth) and Torigara (Chicken Broth), developed over the time that is truly one of a kind broth, that is Tongara.

Shoyu Ramen may seem like a light simple soup but its flavour is very distinct. Topped with Chashu , Negi, Menma, Moyashi, and Ajitama. Tongara Ramen uses its original, rich, organic, and flavorful broth. The Ebi Miso Ramen (MY FAV!) is made even more special with fermented soybean and shrimps. Tsukemen is a cold ramen noodles served with a hot and perfectly balanced dipping sauce. Not sure if you can finish a big bowl? Fret not because they have junior bowls for you!

Tongara Ramen is an import from Shinjuku, Tokyo. It's brand new - having officially opened only last April 6. Tell your friends in the neighbourhood to come down or to make the jaunt toward Marikina for this.

It's not a new story - the owners found a ramen place they loved in Tokyo, convinced the owner to consider the Philippines, opened branches in Cebu and Manila - which some of our up and coming successful food-preneurs have done. What's new is that they were the first to convince Chef Makoto Okazaki to do so. This in turn, it seems, opened the doors to branches in Tel Aviv and Dubai.

Tongara ramen - the chef's invention - merges tonkotsu (pork broth) and torigara (chicken broth) into one. The resulting broth has the creaminess of the pork and the savoriness of chicken. Boiled, then roasted, torched pork belly slices are thrown into the mix, together with the classic aji tamago (the marinated boiled egg), and springy noodles that are a joy to eat.

To be sure, there are variations on this theme - like the shoyu ramen (soy-sauce based), and ebi miso (the broth made from shrimp and fermented soybean), and dipping sauce ramen (their Tsukemen). We can vouch for the yumminess of the shoyu and the miso ramen, but we are attached to the taste of the tongara broth.

Ramen bowls hover around the P500 range, just like the early days of the ramen craze, but it's worth the treat.

Nonetheless, junior bowls costing less than P300 are available between 10 am and 5pm.

Thankfully, one can order extra egg, extra noodles, and a whole pile of gyoza if the craving persists.

Tongara Ramen is my favorite among all the restaurants in Lamp Quarter.

We were told that Tongara Ramen originated from the Shinjuku (Tokyo). A couple from Cebu was able to bring this culinary experience (franchise) to Cebu then now in Marikina.

Tongara is a combination of Japanese words Tonkotsu (pork bone broth) and Torigara (chicken bone broth).

For their Lunch Deal, you could order the Junior Bowls....

Shoyu Ramen - The lightest among the three but with a very distinct flavor. It's soy sauce based with a clear brown color. Topped with chashu (braised pork belly), negi (green onions), menma (fermented bamboo shoots) and ajitama (soft-boiled egg).

Tongara Ramen - Tongara's signature broth simply flavored with aged soybean and wheat, topped with chashu, negi, menma and ajitama.

Tongara Ebi Miso Ramen - This is the most flavorful among the three, made special with fermented soybean and shrimps. Topped with ebi, chashu, negi, moyashi (bean sprouts) , menma and ajitama.

MUST add-ons are....

Gyoza - Juicy on the inside, crispy and golden brown on the outside, these Japanese pan-fried dumplings are great appetizer or paired with your ramen.

Karaage - Japanese fried chicken has a crisp texture on the outside and super juicy and tender on the inside. Great with your ramen too.

Tongara is worth driving to Marikina!
