Mogu Tree has Make Your Own Noodles. You can choose what type of noodles, soup and toppings you want. We chose ramen noodles, laksa soup, four toppings and added three extra toppings. The mozzarella ball is the best topping. The ramen noodles stay firm even when soaked in the soup for a long time. The laksa soup is really good - rich, flavorful and slightly spicy. We also ordered Hakaw and Spareribs taosi. Total bill for the meal is P453 (for two) 🍑

My stars are based on the ff if met:
Place (location and cleanliness) - 1⭐
Service - 1⭐
Price - 1⭐
Food - 2⭐⭐

As for Mogu Tree, I have always loved this ramen place because it allows you to customize your ramen at such a cheap price. Another reason is the Mozza Balls. I always craved for it. However, it has been a long time since I went here, wether to dine or my take out, and today I went back.
Food - has always been awesome. Mozza Balls is πŸ’œ. ⭐⭐
Price - for me it is still cheap considering I get 4 toppings and a lot of noodles and Laksa Soup. ⭐
Service - no doubt, these people had always been kind. Since I discovered this place 5 - 6 yrs ago til today, top cst service. ⭐
Place - last I went here probably is last year or almost 2 yrs ago and what I always did not like abt the joint is the place. It looked grimmy and needs cleaning. The owner of this is the same aa the owner of Udderly (milkshake place beside it) which ia very clean and presentable. But not this place. It looked unsanitary and this wouls keep the people away from Mogu Tree. So I hope the management would pay attentionto these reviews particular to the place. No star for me.

This is my go-to place for getting that Laksa fix. I have been coming here since 2013 (if I’m not mistaken) and to this day, I still love everything about Mogu Tree.

They still have the friendliest staff. The place is still as cozy as ever. And the food is still superb!

I’ll admit, though. I haven’t really tried anything elss from their menu but the Laksa soup is always top notch. And that’s more than enough to make me want to come back here over and over again.

This place is great if you are looking for satisfaction at a fairly affordable price.

What I loved:
-Variety in their add-ons. I love how they set this buffet style table where you get to build and mix what you want for your noodles.
-Food was satisfying. They offer other food as well, not just noodles.
-The set-up is nice,very cozy.
-It is located near our house.

What they can improve:
-Place is small so it gets crowded and noisy during certain hours.
-While their food is satisfying, there is room to improve their food, taste and over-all quality wise.
-They can work on their service time.

Overall,if you are just looking to eat noodles that is affordable and where you will get your money's worth, this place is perfect for you.try to visit during non-peak hours though so you won't have to stress out over the crowd.😊

Pros: Their Laksa noodles + mozzarella balls are so goooood. It's impossible not to crave for them once in a while. My favorite go-to place in Lilac.

Cons: place is a bit old or worn out and sometimes staff are lazy to clean leftovers but in the end it's the food that matters.

Whether its scorching hot outside or raining, i will not hesitate and will still go to this little hub. WHY? Because they serve comfort food. You can choose from two broths: Plain or Laksa, they have a very good variety of noodles and toppings. My favorites are the mozzarella balls, enoki &shitake mushrooms and the tofu balls. It's a great option for healthy stuff too, My parents rarely eat meat so this place is an instant heaven! The prices are very affordable, they have this point system as a reward for loyalty customers. Β I think they just need to offer desserts. I know we can order from singlish or pink chiffon, but still it would be a great idea to offer their own twist of dessert. :)

I like the concept - you get to choose what add ons you want for your dish especially the laksa and from there the price would be computed. Lots of choose from, which is great. Although the taste is still far from authentic Singaporean cuisine, but price is affordable so it's alright.

This place is alright specially when youre craving for some good noodles. Although their price has gone up from the last years im still okay going here every once in a while. Although I still think that their place needs some major renovations cause it seems a little dingy on my opinion (😊) and that the girl cashier that they have right now should take a crash course with good customer relations because she is a bit snobbish, doesnt even smile and is always frowning. She is always like that even when she is no longer pregnant ! (Ha!) Anyway, all in all the food is good. And we will always go back to the mozzarella balls cause its the bombdiggity!

Note: Late Review

I had an impromptu visit with my dentist last Wednesday. The little bugger cant be saved, we had to let him go. I dread going to the dentist. This can be attributed to the first tooth extraction i had a couple of years back. Man, when i think of that day - all i remember was being in pain.

Anyway, i have been eating bananas and yougurt for three days straight. I've been dying to eat real food anf I've been having Laksa fantasies for x number of months. Good thing, Lilac offers different types of food for every foodie craving.

Mogu Tree Noodle House. Truth be told, I've been eyeing this joint for quite sometime. We are regular customers at the Milkshake joint next door. And to my delight, MT offers laksa - my all time favourite noodle dish. And uhmm, do-it-yourself noodle dish anyone?

Mechanics. Choose your topping, noodles and broth. They offer a shitload of stuff for the toppings, six choices for the noodles and two choices for the broth. Two toppings costs php 145. Three is php 165, if I'm not mistaken, if you want more, you need to pay for em ala carte. I picked Laksa for obvious reasons, crabstick, enoki mushrooms and egg noddles. Once done, pay at the counter and get a table.

We were seated fot only a couple of minutes when the food was served. And my oh my, the claypot is steaming hot and the serving was huge. The broth is seasoned for the lalsa neophyte. Rich and flavorful. I like mine with a lil kick, i added three spoonfuls of chili oil. I like it when the amount of spice lingers in your tastebuds, you feel like you're on the verge of coughing. That feeling is what I look for whenever i am faced with eating spicy food. The enoki mushrooms and crabstick is cooked perfectly and the egg noodles is the right choice because it absorbs the flavor of the broth and the fact that it is soft made it easier for me to finish my bowl on less than 30 minutes.

I highly recommend MT to all Laksa lovers out there. Good food and good price. What more can you ask for.

Being one of the restaurant pioneers in Lilac Street in Marikina, Mogu Tree has been one of the most popular in the area. Parking has been a deterrent in our previous attempts to visit the place. Thankfully, we made it there one quiet afternoon. Louie at the cashier graciously welcomed us and clearly explained to us the procedure to order. Bestseller items on the menu were recommended and the Laksa Noodle we ordered was a true winner. It was not that spicy. The turmeric base broth complemented the egg noodles and the other ingredients such as mushroom, mozzarella cheese, crab roe and crab meat balls that were suggested to go with it. Surprisingly, we truly liked it. It was delicious!

The staff were respectful, helpful and hardworking. But the restaurant's downside would probably be in sanitation, aesthetics, overall poor condition of the furniture in particular and the place in general. The food stand by the door didn't have any food-guard to protect the exposed ingredients from dust and other elements. We were told that small renovations are currently being made. Would be great to see some improvements next time we visit.

Perhaps, like most Filipinos, my earliest recollection of surimi came in the form of the Pinoy street food sensation, fish ball. It wasn't so much the memory of snacking on them as it was being expressly forbidden to touch the stuff. My fearful parents heard all the stories of customers unscrupulously double-dipping the fish balls into the communal vat of sweet sauce, a practice that has led to many a spread illness. Therefore, my first taste of surimi/fish ball involved a covert operation orchestrated by my then-best friend that included two big no-nos: sneaking out of school grounds and eating street food. That day in the first grade was memorable, because of our little mission and because the fish balls were honestly pretty darn delicious.

Since then, my encounters with surimi have mostly been limited to hot pot eat-all-you can restaurants and DIY shabu-shabu meals at home. The dining experience itself has changed drastically. The humble fish ball and its BFF, the squid ball, have branched out into the likes of mozzarella balls, crab claws, cartoon character balls, etc. And in the spirit of the new year, the search for surimi heaven has brought me to a packed Mogu Tree Noodle House in Marikina for another ball-centric adventure.

Bustling from the moment we stepped in and well after we were done eating, Mogu Tree is a make-your-own noodle soup restaurant that also offers dimsum and rice toppings. The location is part of a string of boutique-size restaurants along Lilac Street that would've been easy to miss, had it not been for the big banners (with food pics). Clever touch with the tarpaulins. At least you get an immediate idea of the food served as you drive by.

We were a little overwhelmed coming in with the crowd of people at the door. As it turns out, the noodle soup ingredient table is positioned right beside the door and opposite the cashier, so a lot of the traffic is immediately at the front of the restaurant. If a moderate-sized group decides to line up for the noodles together, they already effectively block the entrance. That's probably the only con. There's also the matter of ingredients running out very quickly during the dinner rush, but refills are fairly quick and are sometimes already served up at the counter.

How it works: For the noodle soup, you grab a bowl and a pair of tongs from the cashier, then you proceed to select your ingredients. The noodles are pre-portioned and you can only get one serving, but that's a generous amount already. Select your surimi balls and other ingredients (like hard-boiled eggs, beef roll, or a packet of salted seaweeds). Then you go back to the cashier for the soup selection, ingredient-counting, and billing. An egg counts as one topping. Three surimi balls, assorted or the same kind, counts as one topping as well. On the menu, the prices printed are for two or three toppings, but you can get more than that for an additional payment.

Dad and I ordered the Laksa soup, while my mom preferred a plain soup. We were ushered to a table in the back, but there are actually two floors. (Didn't get to go upstairs, though.) It didn't take so long for the order to arrive. We amused ourselves with the fact that this restaurant actually serves Apple Sidra soda! I haven't seen this drink outside Chinatown, so that's cool.

The steaming soup arrived in what looked like Bibimbap plastic bowls. We noticed veggies floating at the top, so it turns out that the kitchen automatically adds them to all orders. The Laksa had a thick layer of coconut cream froth on top. It reminds me of the so-called "impurities" we had to skim out at culinary school, but it's perfectly acceptable in this occasion. I like the idea of rich, creamy coconut foam. The soup base has little chili, so don't worry about the hot and spicy.

Unanimously, the fam agreed that the surimi balls are the same high-quality stuff you find at the more pricey hotpot joints. Some have legitimately impressive fillings like the Crab Claw Ball with an actual mini claw inside, the Seafood Bun with something like a mayo-crabstick salad filling, and the Crab Roe Bun with plenty of roe (faux or surimi, you get the texture either way) in each bite. The filled ones are the best, in my opinion, since you get plenty of different textures and flavors to keep your palate entertained.

Verdict: It might not look like a lot while you're selecting ingredients, but there's a lot of noodle soup to be had once it's been cooked. The table next to ours initially wanted rice with their meal, but they soon realized how heavy a single bowl is on the stomach. As I mentioned, the high-quality surimi ball ingredients are the same ones you find in the more expensive eat-all-you-can hotpot places. Mogu Tree is the place to have the freedom of selection at a more affordable price.

Went here earlier because it was the highest ranked restaurant near us. Though we always passed by this place, it's our first time eating here today. I like the DIY concept of the resto or more of giving the customers the power to choose the components of their noodle bowl.

We came here at 11am making us their first customers for the day. The ingredients were fresh, my only concern was it's located near the entrance making it prone to dirt and germs everytime someone enters or exit + it has no cover. The count of topping was confusing but kuya cashier helped us get on track ;)

We both chose egg noodles and laksa for the soup. My choice of toppings: shrimp, breaded scallop, beef strip, cheese ball, mushroom ball as recommended by kuya cashier then we payed extra for the cute white mushrooms (I don't know how it's called). Lawrence had the same choices except for the mushroom, he chose fresh tofu instead.

We waited for about 5 mins and then our orders arrived. The soup was serve on a hot pot, it was big enough for 2. I love the laksa soup, it was really good, very tasty just the right amount of coconut milk and spice however gave me the "umay" feeling later.

I guessed they just put everything in the pot and then put to a boil, the noodles were sticking to each other but I didn't mind. The egg noodles goes perfectly with the laksa soup. Toppings wise, we both loved the beef strip and shrimp. I also liked the cheese inside the cheese ball (melts in your mouth). The mushroom was difficult to chew. Breaded scallop may have been better fried, but lawrence liked it though. He also loved the fresh tofu and the mushroom ball which was too tough for me to chew.

We also had a separate order of Japanese siomai, it was good :)

The servers were friendly and attentive, i was expecting a grumpy crew based on most reviews but i guess it's morning so us being their buena mano made them happy :p

My rating is for the food that we ordered today + their creative DIY concept. We may comeback to try other stuff on their menu.

The perfect place to get your soup fix during the rainy season or whenever you just feel like it. Just don't expect them to have fancy ramen recipes coz this is your no frills kind of resto and their soup choices are limited since you can either have the plain which is the chicken broth based soup or the laksa soup. What's good about it is that you can choose the kind of noodles and toppings to go with your soup so you can always try something different for each visit. Their rates are affordable too and their service is fast. The place needs a lil renovation though.

Mogu Tree was also featured at Pop Talk weeks ago, and the results were really pop! It urged us more to visit the place.

The crews opened the door for us, and it was overwhelming. But when I approached the lady at the counter, it was quite unpleasing. They look tired and didn't give a smile at all.

You pick your DIY noodle first before paying. We chose 3 toppings, basically it means 6 pieces of different toppings, we're kinda confused with that. My toppings were: crab stick, crab meat bun, shrimp, crab ball, sakura shrimp and mixed seafood bun. And yes I love seafood! I chose ramen for my noodles and laksa for my soup. I was disappointed when we asked something about the soup, the crew answered us "Di ko po alam". We were just "Ah okay". I think the crews must also know basic information about their menu, so the customers could decide well for their orders.

We seated upstairs. The staircase was not designed well. It's very steep and made of wood, it's kinda disturbing when you step on it. The place is fully air conditioned, but has poor ventilation. I suggest to enhance their interior decorations, just to add calm and encouraging feeling to the customers.

We just waited for our noodles for about 15 mins. I love their laksa soup but the toppings were just common, some just tasted like squid balls & alike. Mozzarella ball was a new thing and it's yummy! The pork shrimp siomai were really good.

To sum it all, I really love it! But I think it's not that good for me and my boyfriend because we felt dizzy after we ate our noodles (technical term: highblood). Their food is good and worth the price, but my rating was affected by the crews and poor service.

One of my favorite places to eat in Marikina.

I love to eat shabu shabu, and this is the only place i know that offers similar style to shabu shabu. what i like the most is that they have variety of selections (but i usually have spinach noodle, golden mushroom, crab claw, fresh shrimp, sea urchin ball, & slices of lean meat) & as for the soup you can choose between clear & laksa (i always go for laksa - liked the taste with a hint of spicy).

Also you wont have to wait too long for your food to be served, and they are reasonably priced.

Ive been here several times already, and during one of our visits the place was featured in PopTalk TV Show & we were asked to be included on that episode featuring "Top Laksa places". So, it was really a memorable experience for me and my colleagues.

The first time my friend brought me here, I never expected that their laksa soup was way better than good, actually it was the best. So I planned to go back here and bring my friend with me. She too enjoys the food. But what bothers me is the clealiness of the comfort room especially the utensils, the small tray where we put the ingredients of our order , etc..etc.. The crew should give concern to where they work and pay attention to the clealiness of the whole thing inside the resto.

I've already been here for A LOT of times since this is one of my favorite affordable place to eat at Lilac Street. And also this is my first 5 star rating here :)

Mogu Tree Noodle House is Chinese noodle house. It’s a DIY noodle soup plus you can even choose your own toppings.

The place was already spacious enough to accommodate a lot of customers since I've seen at quite some time that they really have a lot of customers especially on weekdays and night times.

I ALWAYS get the Fresh Egg Noodles since I like small/thin noodles. Then you get to choose your own topping. Mozzarella Cheese Ball for the toppings is a MUST for me. :)) (You should really their Mozzarella Cheese Ball. I love how it melts on our mouth together with the soup)

Then you get to choose which noodle soup you prefer, plain soup or laksa soup. Of course, we got laksa soup. (Since I’ve seen it on blogs and it really looks so yummy!) When we asked the lady seller what laksa soup is, she said the β€œgata”/coconut milk is added on our soup. Yum!Β

We waited for around 10 minutes for our noodle soup to be served. Noodle soup were served in a pot. Pot is really big enough for me. Really worth it for the price!

As I mentioned earlier, I’m not fond of noodles but I likey likey their laksa noodle soup a lot. The egg noodles I got was a perfect combination for the laksa soup. And then Mozzarella Cheese toppings I got was so perfect since the cheese inside was melting. Yum yum!Β

This is a really a must try when you go to Lilac St. Highly recommended!

The rainy season in the Philippines has started, so it's high time to have some delicious hot noodles from one of my favorite Lilac Street restaurants, Mogu Tree Noodle House! Each serving of their noodles is so filling, regardless of the kind of soup you choose (plain or laksa - both taste quite good!). Very sulit!!!

At Mogu, they also offer rice meals, and dimsum items (siomai, siopao, chicken feet, etc.) The rice meals are called "clay pot rice" and they're pretty decent. However, the star of this place is their noodles! You get a tray and a pair of tongs and choose the kind of noodles you want (egg, flour, wheat, spinach, etc), as well as the toppings! They have a variety of toppings like different kinds of balls, buns, mushrooms, meat, and seafood. For the balls and shrimps, 2 of them count as 1, while bigger toppings are counted as 1 per piece. You then choose your soup: regular or laksa. My personal favorite is the laksa, and for the toppings, I often choose the mozzarella balls, mushroom balls, seafood buns, and mushrooms.

Mogu also sells different Chinese, Japanese, and Korean food items. One thing they could greatly improve is their service, particularly the waiting time for their dimsum! Minsan sobrang tagal, I've witnessed many customers who cancelled their orders.

Japanese noodles house on the block. They truly complete the wide vareity of specialty restaurants on this strip. They offer good authentic and flavorful noodle soup for a little over 100 pesos. This was well recommended by my friend so my wife and I tried it out. Very compact place. And very surprising on the vareity if noodles they offer.

A very unique noodle shop that I have found so far! You'll get the chance to choose what kind of noodle you want and to pick the toppings for your noodles. I loved the choices for the toppings. They're not very common to eat. It's like creating your own noodle. They should just have more air conditioning. I ate a very spicy noodles and I was sweating a lot! But I'm still inlove with this and will definitely go back!

Was pretty happy eating here tonight!

Their chicken broth and laksa are pretty good! The laksa is light and not too spicy. If you like it hotter, you can add your own chili.

For Php175, you get to choose your own noodles and 3 kinds of toppings. Their servings are big too! I just wish you could add a little more toppings without having to pay Php35 for each extra topping. It did seem enough though since it was really filling! :)

A very good filling meal at a very reasonable price! :) Definitely a must try! :)

Lilac Street in Hacienda Heights is becoming popular because of the restaurants sprouting in the area. I've read good reviews and I've heard words of praise from friends about Mogu Tree Noodle House. Even my physical therapist's little daughter love to eat here I was told. One afternoon, I texted my sister and told her to bring along my nephew and my dad for a food adventure.

Great food for great value.
Almost authentic. The laksa soup is very flavorful and tasty. Though it would be better if they would have more choices of ingredients like veggies, meat somehow, not just sea-food-balls and mushrooms.

For the service, I don't know if this happens a lot but when my friends and I placed our orders, when it was serve to us its kind of mixed-up.
I hope they are more concern with their customers.

Over-all
Food: 9/10
Service: 5/10
Place/ambiance: 6/10
Value for money: 8/10

I already know what I want days in advance. They say the Laksa is a must try. When I asked the attendants about their bestseller, I was told it's the Laksa. So I must have the Laksa.

How To Order a Bowl of Noodle:

Step One: Choose a noodle

Whenever I am unsure of what goes well on DIY food, I always ask the food attendant to help me decide. For my laksa, he said the popular choice is the Ramen Noodles. I was actually thinking of going against the popular choice and try the spinach noodles because it's somewhat unusual. But I did not. May be next time.

Step Two: Choose the toppings

I needed help in step two. There are so many choices and if only I was allowed to sample all of them. I ordered the three toppings. Any additional toppings will cost you P30.

The claypot rice choices are also yummy if you have the patience to wait. It usually takes 20-25 minutes for the claypot rice to cook.

If you don't want to drive far for decent laksa that's also affordable. Go heavy with their mozzarella balls! I haven't had any bad experiences with this place yet.

me and my wife went here on a night time. we we're supposed to go to man danny's however, it was closed because it was a sunday. so we have decided to test the delicacies here. we weren't expecting that we even had a take out here because the serving here is very big and really delicious. i chose to have shrimp cake, tofu, beef balls and crab balls on my ramen noodles in laksa soup. my wife went on allshrimp on her hongkong noodles in laksa soup. both of us enjoyed the food here at an affordable price of almost 300 for everything. it was quite an experience.

cons: if you dont have means of transpo, that's where the problem starts. if you know what i mean.

I like the overall experience! Though, their space is a bit small to accommodate customers specially during their peak days.
The noodles and soup oder (photo) is good for sharing.

Their noodles tastes good specially the squid and crab toppings. If you're here just to take a merienda 1 serving is good for two to three people but if you really love noodles i suggest you order one for yourself. They also sell some chinese goods!

A small not so fancy noodle house along Lilac St. in Marikina (a food street like Maginhawa in QC). It has a 2nd floor to accommodate more customers because they only have a couple of tables downstairs. They don't have enough parking space so it can be a challenge during weekends and peak hours.

Staff were ok, but one think that I didn't like on a particular visit was our food server asked a parking attendant to serve our food on behalf of him! He was yelling by the stairs on what he should do to serve the boiling pot of soup and was laughing about it. Very inappropriate and I'm irritated because of course you are expecting a good server who knows how to handle food to serve you not a parking attendant whose hands are wobbly and any moment might spill the boiling soup in my daughters lap.

Going back on food, I like the idea of choosing your own toppings, noodles and soup base. They have plain and rich tasty laksa. I personally like the laksa and fresh shrimp for toppings. My daughter loves their mozzarella balls and beef balls. They also have clay pot rice meals and dimsum. I like their hakaw, tasty and dough was just right gooey but not so thick. A bowl is already good for sharing if you're not that really hungry.

A good place to eat a nice bowl of noodles in a very budget friendly price. We always eat here and we love their noodles, but I was really disappointed during this visit. I like to give them 1 for rating but because of the food and we're regulars I'll give them 3.5@

My mentor and I always go here for a talk after our Victory group. It just always suits our taste. The plus factor is the unconventional liberty of choosing your type of noodles and toppings from an actual selection (yes, actual and not pictures from a menu). It makes your selection personalized. We always go for Laksa soup (spicy). For less less than Php 200, totally worth coming back for every week. :)

We arrived there a little early. We waited for a few hours cause we really wanted to taste their noodles. I was quite disappointed by their service though. The chopsticks they gave us was opened already and wet. (Maybe the crew was thinking that we won't use it so she gave us that). Minus point for that. Their food on the other hand is good. Serving is large (almost good for two) with a fair price. Plus you can taste a variety of dumplings. (i love the crab claw and crab meat) . I was so full for less than P200.

You'll get more than what you're paying for. The place is cosy and the food is worth waiting for. The staff are accommodating medyo it took them long to serve some of the food that we ordered okay lang kasi it tastes good. You get to choose what you want to put on your noodles :) we'll come back here definitely!

Food is really good! You get to select the ingredients of your noodle soup. As in everything on it. All for the price of less than P200.00. Way cheaper than the other stores but taste is not to be sacrificed. I must not forget to mention that the noodles itself does have flavor already. It does not rely on the taste of the soup that'll be poured into it. I think that is really good. As for the toppings, I didn't get to memorize all of them but Mozzarella Cheese balls and crab meat did stand out on my bowl.

I have a few comments though about the place and the utensils. First of, I am confused with the idea of the restaurant's name and the interior design. They don't jive. The design is Japanese/Chinese themed. That's why I don't really understand. Next is about the spoon that you'll use for the soup. It was just a regular spoon. The same thing we use for our normal meal and the bowl is like a claypot. The bowl is deep. It is impossible for you to get the soup when you're almost done. Unless you tilt your bowl just so you can scoop the soup. Tilting is not good for dining manners. Drinking soup from the bowl is not also accepted for us non-Japanese, Chinese or Korean. We are in the Philippines and I am sure that no one will pick up their bowl and drink the soup.

So, those are the improvements that need to be addressed based on my opinion. Given those points, I still think it's worth it. I still give them 4 stars for food quality. :-)

Mogu tree is a new concept. You can choose the ingredient that you want for your noodles. Since I love coconut milk I prefer to have laksa as my soup base. Each servings can satisfy two persons. You may also have rice topping's if you're not in the mood for noodles. For me price is fair enough. I am just not satisfied on their cleanliness.

Mogu Tree has the best laksa soup that I've tasted.. no joke. It even has large servings so 2 people can share their soup order. Good for the tummy since its soup & warm. I love the bokchoy that they added on the soup. And mind you, you can ask for soup refill. But sometimes, it takes them a long time to serve your food. So, if you are so hungry & famished.. you know what will happen.. you will lose na your appetite by the time you get your order because it happened to us once.. So that could be the downside. But it will still be worth the wait if you are a lover of laksa soup. When we were here first, I asked them what the bestseller is & they told me Laksa so I tried it, its so good. We also tried their rice toppings, we did try the pork asado since we like it sweet. Its good, not so sweet but just right enough. We dont normally order flavored drinks, water it is for us.Try it.

Was at lilac with my food buddy/bff while we were looking for other places to eat, we passed by this place and decided to give it a shot because i heard most of my friends have tried this and said it was great. They were very generous when it comes to food servings lol. The place was a-okay but the food wasn't, it was very delicious. Wasn't expecting that it would taste that great. The girl at cashier seems a little off though. Haha

If you're looking for some warm soup (specially in the weather right now) and some big servings while not breaking the bank, then look no further.
Mogu Tree serves noodle soup, rice bowls and dimsum. The noodle soup is priced no more than your 2pc chicken meal in a fastfood chain.
I got the laksa soup with 2 kinds toppings. So you have to choose the type of noodle, and then choose 4 toppings (can be 4 of different kinds and this still falls under the 2toppings price).
It takes a while for them to serve the order specially when it's packed, but it's worth the wait.
Your noodle soup will be in this huge clay bowl (as big as those from the Ramen places), boiling hot, on top of a wooden thingy.
The laksa soup is not that spicy but you can ask for chili if you want it hotter. The taste is good enough. I like the toppings that have fillings. I guess people come back here often to try the rest of the toppings.
BF tried the regular noodle soup. When it was served, he immediately looked for some soy sauce & chili. After having some soup, he said no need for additional seasoning as the noodle soup was pretty tasty already.
Note, if you have a small appetite or not feeling too hungry, share a bowl of soup. We did not finish our orders as it was too much.

Our second trip to Lilac street. While hungry and looking for a reliable food spot. My family agreed to have another dive at Mogu Tree.

The best mood setter for me is being greeted with the Noodles and toppings selection on the main counter. A unique approach for us the first time we got in.
The place is quite small and can be cramped. Can seat roughly 25 on my estimate.

We got both the Laksa (Spicy, Coconut broth) and Plain (Chicken Broth) soup options.
We tried out Fresh Egg, Spinach and Ramen noodles. (For me, the egg noodles gave out the best flavor with Plain Soup)

Toppings:
You have option of 2 or 3 toppings for starters and pay extra obviously for getting more on to the bowl.
1 topping is 2 pieces actually from the choices. They also give you the freedom of going 1 piece per topping so you can have more choices. Gets confusing at start but that easily gives you to try 6 types by ordering 3 toppings...
You can also order asado and chicken.

Our choices: Mushroom Ball, Mozzarella Cheese Ball, Sea Urchin and Seafood Bun, Crab Sticks.
Take note that the toppings would change depending on availability.
Taste of the toppings more or less what you can expect just like from frozen shabu-shabu toppings in SM groceries.

Sounds like just the usual soup you can cook for your self. Being able to mix and match the soup, noodles and toppings which make the overall unique.
I should give the rice option a try next time!

Pros:
Price is affordable for the good taste you can get
Good range of choices
Big servings

Cons:
Place quite cramped
Parking can be a hassle

mogu tree is our key in discovering the food haven that is lilac street. it is a quaint place beside a bank and a series of other must try food places.

the charm of it aside from the japanese feel interior of wood and the like is the 'freedom' to choose your ramen to match your liking.
to start with, is 1. the noodles. in chinese restaurants, our fave is the egg noodles, so we got the fresh egg noodles the first time, but it turned too soft and lost its texture when it was served. so we tried the dried egg noodles the next time, this one is better and remained firm despite the heat. then we tried the ramen noodles, and thought... why didn't we chose this the first time?!
2. toppings.. this is where it gets interesting, and confusing.. we must say. so you can either have 2 toppings or 3 toppings.. we always take the 3 toppings option, the more.. the.. uhmm manyer!!! :p haha
for most balls are : 2 balls = 1 topping. so you get a total of 6 balls for the 3 toppings option. but not all balls or toppings for that matter are created equal, but the attendant is happy to assist and explain, over and over... our personal favorite and staple toppings are the mushroom, mozzarella cheese balls and crab roe bun. toppings vary from time to time, depending on the availability, but there would always be that topping that you would find yummy!

and finally you hand your tray to the lady at the counter and ask you what soup you would want for your ramen.. 3. the soup! you may choose between plain (chicken) or laksa (spicy / coconut). we always tend to get one of each and eat from each other's bowls.

she would then give a # to be placed on the table and ask for your name.. if dining with say a group of 4.. she would ask the name of each and label the soup accordingly so the ramen that you carefully chose won't be swapped in error with your friend's.

why it is not a 5? there was one time out of the many times we went there that we did not like the soup... it was bland, for both the laksa and plain, their cook must have been out sick for that day :p still happy that we went again after that.
their soda is priced at 50 each, which we find a little unreasonable... but they serve table water, so again.. that's a choice you have to make for yourself.
