It was better than I expected, and even better when I followed the heating instructions (microwave for a certain number of seconds—-took 30 on mine to get the perfect texture 👌🏼) Well worth the price!
It's one of the newest stores/stalls in SM San Lazaro. They use quality eggs and fresh milk to create these top-selling cakes. There's no chemical used, and they ensure it's not factory made. It's too soft and fluffy, and it's best eaten while it's hot.
Original (P140.00) - plain and the egg flavor can be easily tasted.
Golden Cheese (P180.00) - it's like the original one but the cheese inside will leave you craving for more.
Chocolate (P220.00) - chocolate bread, with a moist chocolate syrup on the inside.
Cranberries Snowflake Crisp (P380.00) - combined sweetness with an extra kick of crunch.
Original Cake is a concept that originated from Taiwan and the people behind it decided to bring it to the Philippines. And they chose SM City San Lazaro because it is near schools and to a lot of communities. They are offering a Castella sponge cake, which is kind of similar to our Mamon however, their cakes are fluffier and thicker. Also, these Castella sponge cakes comes in three variants -- the Original aka Plain, Golden Cheese and Chocolate variants.
Every variant is different from each other but if there's common among them, it would be the consistent fluffiness and generosity in flavor. And I could honestly say that this is better when its fresh.

Taiwan's beloved Original Cake opens its first branch in the Philippines at SM City San Lazaro, Manila. Fluffy, Moist 'Original' Cake from Taiwan is now in the Philippines, similar to a freshly baked, right out the oven Castella sponge cake. It has that distinct jiggly puffiness that is irresistible and the whiff of warm fresh eggs and sugar is simply divine. These lovely cakes come in Golden Cheese, Hershey's Chocolate and 'Original' flavors. Price points range from 140 to 220pesos depending on the flavor. These cakes are best eaten while hot to get the maximum value and taste.
During grand opening they also had a traditional dragon dance to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Staff are well mannered and very accomodating during our visit. Recommended. Thank you Clari Says for the invite.

We were recently invited to the grand opening of Original Cake SM San Lazaro whereby I and my fellow bloggers had the privilege to taste all their menu offerings.
