I was in a food trip with a friend last week and just out of nowhere I just thought I haven’t had a bowl of pares yet, as in EVERRR. I’ve been hearing a lot of good reviews of different versions of pares around the Metro, but I also am aware there is this one place where you can actually find the best pares in town.

Buti nalang talaga before magkaroon ng quarantine na try ko to 😭 It was my first time trying pares with my boyfriend and it was sooo worth it na ma stuck sa traffic ng ilang oras just to try this. It's such a pity nga lang kase this year ko lang siya na discover and I want to try it again kaso nga lang may quarantine

AMBIENCE
Open 24 hours. It was crowded as expected and people were lining up behind different customers that were already settled on stools eating their beef pares. Place is hard to miss especially at night. In fact, their establishment brings the area to life! Parking seemed to be along the street or in front of the establishment along Retiro. For takeaway, you get a number and pay as you order. Floor near the stools were full of litter and I wish customers would make the effort to place it where they are supposed to be; it's supposed to be easy.

FOOD
For obvious reasons, it was a MUST to try their Beef Pares P115, which came with soup, garlic rice and a cold pitcher of water. Meat was sweet and tender. Because I enjoyed the sauce and ate some with every bite, my dishes were wiped out clean! Rice was slightly dry but the sauce and soup made it no biggie.

SERVICE
Server was quick to serve my food, bill and change. It just took a short while to get their attention upon my arrival because they were busy with the other customers (full house).

A friend introduced this place to me a few years back and I really enjoyed eating here. This no frills pares house is always jampacked with diners whatever time of the day I passed by. For this particular visit, I decided to take it out and enjoy my meal at home. By default, I had their beef pares P115/order, stuffed shrimp P70/order and buttered chicken P180/order. Everything was delish! I'll surely be back. Writing this review now is making me want to come back again and have this hearty meal.

Ignore the caption on the second picture. It was just for gags.

Tbh, the food isn't dirty, it's delish! It's your very pinoy comfort food and I'm craving it once in a while.

Will definitely come for more!

Whats make eating here exciting is the nostalgic feels of an old pares mami house. And the line gets really long but the service is fast so the queuing time is fast as well. Love the pares (of course) plus the maki and the fried chicken. I just hope they have coke zero for diet pretenders like me (hehehe)

Best pares for me. Crew were attentive but looked tired, I hope they are not overworked. Always dined around 2-5am, place was always packed. Soup is tasty as well.

This restaurant is 40 minutes away from home (1 hour if traffic, of course) but my friends and I would really go the distance just so we can have our pares fix.

A friend of mine introduced this resto to me 2-3 years ago and I’ve never eaten pares anywhere else since. It’s a testament of how good their pares is, and cheap as well! Their meat is so tender and the broth is flavorful, a lot of people like to add in soy sauce with calamansi and chili but I personally think it overpowers the already great quality broth and so I just put in chili for a little kick. For PHP 110, you get a generous amount of beef pares, soup, and chorizo & garlic rice. Very worth the price.

I 10/10 recommend.

(Note: a lot of people visit this restaurant so expect a waiting time.)

My go-to pares place! This place is always full, so patience is a must. Whenever we go here we always had to wait for almost an hour to get a seat so wag pupunta kung gutom na gutom kana. Haha!

The food is great. Very affordable and sulit!

First time here and it was the best pares I've eaten so far. The beef pares was tender and has a chew to its texture. Waiting for this kind of dish in a popular crowded restaurant was worth it.

The term "Pares" refers to beef stew paired with garlic fried rice, and a bowl of soup. Along the stretch of N.S. Amoranto Avenue (formerly Retiro), one will see quite a number of pares houses on both sides of the street. But The Original Pares & Mami House, is the most packed πŸ˜‰

Since pares houses are commonly found on side streets, expect parking problems. What I find interesting is that people don't mind the waiting time. Since this is not your typical restaurant, imagine having to stand up and wait for the person seated in front of you to finish eating. When one asks for the bill, they stand up to allow the next customers to be seated while they stand behind to wait for their bill. πŸ™‚

The beef pares ofcourse never fails. Perfectly paired with garlic friend rice and a hot bowl of clear soup. Bulalo soup was also good but nothing that will keep me coming back for it. Siomai is good and surprisingly generous in size.

I admire the staff for being attentive and quick in serving their customers considering the volume of people waiting to be served. By the way, they have a take out counter for those who prefer to enjoy pares somewhere else or in the comforts of their home.

One of our all time favorites and family go to! The best beef pares and pares chicken! Grew up loving their food, when I was a kid, never knew where my father buys the chicken, as he would just bring take aways, and I remember how we enjoy eating. Introduced by my Father where I inherited the love for food. Usually he would eat here for dinner and I will just see his take aways at the table, most of the time he would bring home pares chicken, and the kikiam. Miss the old days! Also introduced this now to my love and will introduce this to my 1 year old niece soon and to my future kids.☺️

Our fave pares place. We love their beef pares, siomai and hototay soup. This place gets full pretty fast during lunch and dinner. You have to wait for a seat to be free & stand behind the dining customers. But we guarantee you it’s worth the wait. Their beef pares is the best! It has just the right saltiness & sweetness in it. The beef is also tender.
.
We suggest that you go here a little earlier than lunch or dinner so that you don’t have to wait & can have a seat once you arrive. ☺️

My parents would usually like to go to this place when they've just arrived here in Manila from their flight and it's already around midnight or past midnight. The place is open until past midnight though I'm not entirely sure if it's 24 hours. When you go here there's always a line, even when it's midnight. So you usually have to wait behind someone (like a vulture LOL) until they're done eating and you can take their spot. It's just an open place and you sit at any available spot at their round table. It's like in Mendokoro wherein you sit around their kitchen.

I think this would have to be my favorite pares place around Manila. Their beef pares is a sweet deal at 110 pesos considering the flavor. It also comes with garlic rice and a bowl of soup. I love their beef pares! ❀️ it is pretty different in that the beef is so tasty and tender and it's covered in thick sauce so you know it's been cooked long. It's really good. Plus the waitresses were really fast and I got my order after 5 minutes. We always keep on coming back to this place.

It is a dish that our mother or our lola used to make us during our childhood – it can be that good bowl of Sinigang, Arroz Caldo, mac & cheese. Regardless of what the food is, it soothes our souls and comforts us in such a way having that dish makes everything seem okay. A dish that provides emotional comfort to us and linked us to a place or time when we were kids when situations and life weren’t this complicated.

This place is very popular, and rightfully so. It serves some of the most humble yet delicious Filipino comfort dishes. Their specialty is obviously the beef pares, and it is very good. Flavorful and full of litid (you can request more laman than litid if you want).

The only reason I’m not giving it a perfect score is on the day I visited the rice was dry and probably old.

Good luck getting a seat!

Two Saturdays ago, I had to drop by a baking shop in Congressional to canvass stuff for my project for work. Josh accompanied me there, and afterwards, we went to Retiro to have lunch.

Every time he brings me home, we always pass by this pares place where the customers flocks in non-stop, and there is always someone waiting behind the seat of the dining customers. Of course, we tried it out of curiosity some time last year, and we liked it. We have tried pares from other places / restaurants, but I can say that nothing beats The Original Pares! 😍

Their Pares with Rice now costs Php 110 (it was around Php 70 to 80 before!), but it's still the same old BEST pares eveeer. πŸ‘Œ Tender beef brisket with garlic rice has never been this good! Their chili garlic oil is super yummy, too, and makes the pares even yummier.

We also got their Fried Tokwa (Php 25), and I loved it, as well as the sweet and salty sauce they serve it with.

A must try and must visit when in Retiro! πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜Š

Patience is a must when dining at this place. I went here on a Saturday morning to have a breakfast, and I was immediately greeted by a jam-packed Pares house. It was hard to find a seat, coz someone's already standing at the back of those eating, waiting for them to stand up and leave. It's definitely not a place for cozy seekers. There's no airconditioning, seats are very much near apart, and you will literally eat at the side of the road. Diners are mostly on the their shorts and slippers. But I guess that's what I love about this place, it's actually the ambiance. Very simple. It's like people just woke up, found nothing on their fridge, and went straight to this place to eat.

Their menu is very much affordable. One order of Beef Pares cost Php 100, while the Stuffed Shrimp was Php 70. An order of 3pcs. of Siomai was Php 40. Their Pares is very tasty, plus it has so much tendons(litid) on it which I love so much. The serving is just right, I even had an another order of Fried Rice cause I have more Beef left. Stuffed Shrimp taste good too, I guess it's a staple coz everyone seems to order it with the Pares. Their Siomai was a little disappointing, although it's big, it's too salty for me.

The Staffs are amazingly very attentive, and listens very well to my orders. Despite of the left and right callings from so much diners, I didn't sensed any rudeness or being snob from them.

Overall, I had a wonderful time dining at this place. I enjoyed not just the food, but every aspect of the experience. Definitely I will come back for more.

It's the bomb! Could actually be the best pares I've ever had. (I'm actually a fan of cocoy's but the last time I was, it seemed quality has gone down a bit). The beef was soft and chunky with just the right amount of litid and fat. The sauce was flavorful. Even the soup was tasty! Best of all the chili was for real! It got my head sweating while having lunch. At 110 pesos, it's a bit on the expensive side for pares, but it was worth it!

Be prepared to wait for an open spot though even if you come early.

1 pares, extra rice, extra lotong(pares sauce). It's been my staple order since my 1989. Their Camto and pork sisig will not disappoint also.

If it does not have the stainless steel table and orange bowls then it's not the "Original Pares Retiro".

this place was almost perfect for a rating of five except that they won't open the second floor until lunch time to cater more customers. you'll have to finish your food fast since a lot of customers are lining up , you know how lit it was . no complaints about the food . this is by far the best pares i've had . They're using authentic beef and it's so flavorful! we also got the campton since it's one of their best sellers too . very reasonable price for the taste ! πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

We call this place as pares retiro, the original and only! Not to be mistaken as the "pares retiro" in Tomas Morato. This one is a classic paresan here in Manila. During out recent visit, wala nang mapark-an! It was 2pm ish so we're expecting less customers but it was really jampacked. All seats were taken and some people were waiting for the ones seated to finish their meal (Which we actually did as well hehe) people here also eat fast, wala ng kwentuhan at tambay after eating to give way for incoming customers. I can still remember wayback in college and compared to the present, they still serve good food. Would definitely come back again. The best pares ever!

This is definitely the best pares place there is in the metro. The volume of customers at any time of day (and night) speaks about how popular this real and original Pares Retiro is. It has become an extension of my kitchen since I've lived around the area for more than 2 decades now. I can categorically say that they were able to maintain the quality of food over the years. Among my favorites in their menu are camto soup, fried chicken, siomai, stuffed shrimp, tapsilog, longsilog and of course pares beef. If there's anything you might dislike about this place is that it could get difficult to get seated and they appear to be short-staffed during peak hours. You'd have to call out the servers a lot of times before you get attended to. Try it for yourself to find out why many go crazy over this pares place in Laloma. It's going to be worth the visit for sure.

Who wouldn't know the famous 'pares sa retiro'? Beef pares, sizzling sisig, buttered chicken, beef mami, pancit, lengua de gato; you name it, lahat masarap. Budget-friendly, delicious food, good serving size, and the experience of having to wait for an available seat while you are starving makes the foodtrip all the more fulfilling afterwards. It's along a very busy road with very limited parking spaces plus little kids who ask for alms, and IT IS indeed part of the whole picture. It's not 'pares sa retiro' without these little ingredients. I don't live in the area, but will always always not mind the hassle of going out of way just to have a satisfying lunch or dinner or midnight meal in this pinoy na pinoy place. πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Hands down the best braised beef I tasted so far. I've been eating here since early childhood so nostalgia might be a factor here - been going here since I was 7 or 8 years old. Quality was not what it was back then but still good enough to get that 5 🌟 review. This is not some fancy restaurant so don't expect too much about the place. They serve a lot of other stuff which from what Ive heard was also good; I wouldn't know since I only order their Beef Pares eversince.

This is the real deal. Don't believe the other "Original" Pares branches, because this is the one with which dreams are made of.

Call me biased for growing up eating here, but there is so much comfort in the P85 meal with unli camto soup. The buttered chicken has just the right saltiness and buttery taste -- all in generous servings.

Only a few restaurants can satisfy my hunger under Php150, and this is one of them.

The Original Pares & Mami House is really worth the price. With less than 100 per pares set, this is value for money without compromising taste. Rich sauce, tasty soup and a bowl of fried rice. Be ready to be on queue since the food house is quite a blockbuster.

bakit kapag dine in libre ang Lotong?

Who hasn't been here?? If you love "pares" this is a go-to spot. Located along the "lechon sanctuary" in Retiro/La Loma... If there's traffic, or a long queue not only for take out but hell yeah for diners waiting for a vacant seat, that's the place! Nothing fancy, noisy, some waiting customers are smoking, but good thing they now have an air-conditioned area on the 2nd floor. But still crowded.

What we've already tried:
πŸ“Œ Beef Pares
πŸ“Œ Beef Mami
πŸ“Œ Siopao
πŸ“Œ Tapsilog
πŸ“Œ Buttered Chicken
πŸ“Œ Stuffed Shrimp

The verdict -- If you're hungry, on a budget, not so "maarte" on the place, go here! That's if you're craving for Beef Pares, well that's what they offer best.

Just make sure you have with you lots of patience, waiting for a seat and looking for a good parking spot.

This place has the best beef pares ever. If you take a girl here and she doesn't find it as every bit delicious as you do, then you should never see that person again. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

On a side note, I hope the people who smoke at my back while I'm eating gets cancer.

The last time I've been here was when I was still 10 years old. Original Pares Mami House was my dad's fave and go-to restaurant when he had his car washed nearby. I love how this place retains its famous pares consistently. It's been more than a decade since I last dined here but I still tasted the same old yummy pares when I was a kid.

For our family and some friends, this is the best Pares in town with more than 2 decades in the business. From a 10 year old child to a senior citizen, the food here satisfies everyone. This place is crowded with customers anytime of the day since they are open 24Γ—7. So, we come here during lunch, dinner and even during wee hours when we are craving for pares.

Our usual order is pares with garlic rice partnered with soup and cola. We also love their siomai and mami, but ofcourse there are lots of food choices here.

The place is open, typical eatery and no fancy resto but they also have air conditioned room now at the second floor. Parking is a challenge but staff will help you park.
