We dined in here a week after it was announced that Dine In operations are back to normal during General Community Quarantine. They have implemented the new normal procedures excellently, everyone was wearing their face shields, everything else is sanitized and social distancing is enforced. There is one family of six who were there by the time that we arrived, upon placing our order we got surprised how after 5-10 minutes, everything we ordered, the Roast Pork, the Fried Noodles and the Special Fried Rice was our personal favorite, we also ordered salt and pepper spareribs which we found to be a bit salty, also, don’t forget to order iced ovaltine because it’s really really good
Great ambiance! Super missed Hong Kong food, and I got to satisfy my cravings here. Flavorful dishes, very yummy!
If there is one thing I order from this particular restaurant, that would be their coffee buns 'coz I love the texture and the balance of the coffee crust. Also, its affordable and filling.
The best egg tart I’ve tried in PH.
One of the things that I miss when going to Hong Kong is their food. Most especially their rice because I love its fragrant smell and the stickiness of it. Look no further because you can experience authentic Hong Kong cuisine here in the Philippines. Honolulu HK Cafe is now open with branches at BGC and Manila.
told yah, I’m a fan of curry! Experience the authentic taste of Hongkong curry in Honolulu Cafe (@honoluluhkcafeph) Their curry sauce can be with pork, beef, chicken and seafood! Yep, kung ano man trip mo, they have it! You can partner this with either plain rice or their famous seafood fried rice! Oh, don’t forget to order their famous Hongkong egg tarts! It’s priced P50 each, super affordable
Check out the review of Honolulu HK Café in the blog post below.
I like the Bo Lo Bun, egg tart and the rest of their pastry selections. I was thinking of a Christmas give away, I think this is one good option to gift if same-day.
I love food adventures. When I passed by this restaurant, I checked on their egg tart. I'm surprised that it's made up of 192 layers of crust.
If you're into Hongkongnese cuisines, you'd better write this restaurant down on your list. From pastry selections, to curry, to noodles, rice and baked spaghetti. This restaurant will bring you back to the old Hong Kong.
I love the food. Place is great. I'll definitely recommend this to some of my friends.
One the best things that captured me here is the selection of food that they offer.
I went here last time with my family since we got curious on why the restaurant had so many people. When we got in, we're briefed of the best sellers and we have given it a try.
I must say I got astonished on the restaurant interior and the food. For its price, I'll give it a 5/5.
The best thing about the food scene here in the Philippines is that we are getting more franchised restaurants from abroad. This is an advantage to us since we don't need to travel far to other countries just to taste their famous dishes. They bring it to us in just one or two drive away. One of the interesting countries when it comes to food is Hong Kong. They have their own local dishes and also some with mixed flavors influenced by West and East. One of the original and oldest tea restaurants there is Honolulu HK Cafe established in 1940. They now have two branches here in the Philippines and I got a chance to try one in Robinsons Place Manila.
Honolulu HK Cafe serves a good selection of Cantonese favorites like baked rice dishes, roast meats, sweet and savory buns, and egg tarts. We had their Baked Chicken Rice in Portuguese Style, Baked Rice with Pork Chop Rice and cold HK Milktea. Their version of baked rice didn’t feel too rich as compared to other HK-themed restos in Manila which serve similar dishes. Milktea was OK - very fragrant but I expected it to be stronger like the ones you’ll find in HK. It was a good dining experience overall.
We've been meaning to visit this branch since they have Roastings that other Honolulu branch do not offer.
The place is jam packed on a Friday Lunch, with mixed Pinoys and Chinese.
We ordered Roast Pork, Char Sieu or 2 Meats in a plate, Solo Roast Pork Belly and Stir Fried Noodles which is very tasty with Porkchop on top.
Also available is 3 meat set which includes Soy Chicken.
We also included the famous Egg Tart and Coffee Buns. 😍

Thanks to Carlo M. Tecson, I got the chance to try this restaurant. Honolulu Egg Tart - The crust was soft and the egg filling was good but I found it very dry to eat, the type where I need a drink while eating it. Deep Fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk - This really tasted good, full of flavor but I suggest this for sharing. For me, this is too much for one person to finish hahaHong Kong Style Noodle Soup with Fried Egg - The egg and noodles combo was perfect. We opted for the luncheon meat topping. The broth was a little bland for my Filipino tongue. Hong Kong Style Dried Noodle with chicken in spring onion sauce - this is a little salty for me but overall it tasted good. The taste of the sauce provides the needed contrast to the flavor of the noodles and chicken however I don't like gingery flavors.
I really liked the stir fried flat noodles, kinda oily but very similar to those i tried in HK. The asado/charsiu was also worth a try. Not the best i’ve tried (still looking for it) but was yummy. 😋 Egg tarts and pork buns for me were meh.
We went there on a Friday night, glad that we were seated right away. I love the food choices there and that they serve food hot. The waiters are attentive and the place is actually big that it can accomodate quite a number of guests. You can also purchase some breads and buns on the display counter to munch on before your food arrives. Food tastes great, we also loved their HK milktea. Place is clean, utensils are ok.
We now go to Circuit Makati more frequently because it’s barely a five-minute drive from where we live. We still go to Robinsons Manila once a month when we do grocery shopping, and I still get surprised each time I see a new restaurant sprouting like a mushroom. Gone are the days when we get tired of eating at the same restaurant over and over again! One of the places that we recently tried was Honolulu HK Café.
Egg tarts, buns, noodles, milk teas and all the HK favorites in one place!
Their buns are a lot bigger and tastier compared to other popular restaurants. Try the Honolulu Bo Lo Bun with Butter and Crusty BBQ Pork Bun. For hot dishes, I would recommend the Beef Brisket and the Deep Fried Pr.awn with Thousand Island Dressing.
Honolulu HK Cafe has everything for every age and family member. Love that the place has a fun and youthful vibe. The prices are reasonable and comparable to other restaurants. Please try this place if you are in Manila.
This is our new go-to when it comes to Hong Kong comfort food! Yes, it's that good. The food is top-notch and reasonably priced, too. We loved the roastings, steamed rice toppings, curry fish balls, and so on. The HK milk tea was legit! We couldn't stop drinking it and we still crave for it until now. Make sure to try their Bo Lo Buns! The BBQ variant is our personal favorite! We can't wait to come back for more Honolulu Cafe's offerings! One of the best new restos in town!
Best. Egg. Tarts. In. Manila.
Holy crap, I've been partial to Macanese egg tarts for ever but daaaamn the crispy flaky crust on these egg tarts are amazing. The texture is delightfully crisp. Never had them this crispy and flaky when trying the Macanese/Portuguese ones. At the same time though, I wanted the custard center to be slightly sweeter. The only way they could top this is if they make a brulee version, with a crisp sugar crust top. That said, they are pricier than your standard egg tart. They come at 50 pesos a pop, slightly smaller than the gigantic ones that cost the same at Kowloon house.
I also had their pork chop stir fried noodle for lunch, good for 1, and the nai cha which was just meh. Standard Chinese restaurant pricing. Lots of Chinese nationals eat here too.
Went here with a small group for weekday lunch. Good food and generally good to okay service.
The flavor is quite far form what I thought it would be, but in a really good way. Unexpectedly, the curry was one of the better I've tasted from restaurants. The soy chicken, roast items, and breads are good as well.
The egg tart, surprisingly, was one of the things I wasn't too fond of - the crust was too soft, and I wasn't a fan of how the custard itself was flavored. It may just be a personal preference, however,
Definitely worth a try.
The ambiance and feel of the place is so warm and traditional. Super lovee the food (and the egg tart!!) but a bit pricey for me. The staff are very attentive. Overall experience is good!
Honolulu Café has been around since 1940 which mainly is from Hongkong serving their own version of Honolulu Coffee, Hongkong Milk Tea, Egg Tart, Hongkong fried noodles and more. Now, after 70 years of development and growth, Honolulu has become a place to visit fot its known gourmets and unique Hong Kong Cafe taste.
My familiarity with Robinsons Place Manila started back in elementary when we used to watch movies and have good food afterwards here in this mall. Until I started to study in college nearby and this mall used to be our sanctuary in times of extreme stress. Now, a new restaurant named Honolulu HK cafe just made on my faves here!
Honolulu HK Cafe now on its second branch!
Last May 22 Wednesday, I attended a bloggers event at Honolulu HK Cafe second branch located at the Level 1 of Robinsons Place Manila Pedro Gil Wing. Now Manileños are more closer in trying the famous egg tart of Honololulu HK Cafe Philppines and other Cha Chaan Teng delights.
Just like on my first visit at their SM Aura branch, i had their Yuan Yang (Mixed Tea and Coffee with Condensed Milk Cold) for 130 pesos only.
For the snacks we had Curry Fish Ball, for the noodles we had Stir Fried Flat Rice Noodles with Beef, Garlic Spareribs, Deep Fried Prawns which is my number 1 favorite HK Classics. The Hongkong Curry in Casserole, and another favorite of mine was the Baked rice spaghetti/rice with porkchop in tomato sauce.
We had Coffee Bun and their famous egg tarts too. But what im really excited on their menu on this branch was the Barbecued Meat Selection:
✔️ Soy Chicken (Half 450) (Whole 900)
✔️Roasted Pork Belly (Regular 450) (Half 675)
✔️Roasted BBQ Pork (Regular 400) (Half 600)
I really loved their Roasted Pork Belly, the skin of the pork was so crunchy and tasty. Now thier Roasted Pork BBQ is a another dish that you must try too.
They also have Barbecued Meat with Rice on their menu.
✔️ Single Roasted Meat Treasure Set
✔️Double Roasted Meat Treasure Set
✔️Three Roasted Meat Treasure Set
Verdict:
HK Quakity FOOD ✔️
Friendly Staffs ✔️
Affordable Price✔️
Now you don’t need to fly to Hongkong!
I've been seeing post regarding Honolulu's Egg Tart and I was glad that I was able to experience it along with other offerings of Honolulu!
Below are their offerings that I enjoyed:
FOR STARTERS:
> Honolulu Egg Tart(P50.00/each) - I noticed the fine layers of bread line thinly. Once I have tasted the egg tart, it was an "mmm" for me. It's on the level of a comfort food that I will look for if I'm stressed. :D
> Crusty BBQ Pork Bun (P60.00) - It's like siopao but with softer texture of bread. Perfect for merienda or appetizer
> Curry Fishball (P198.00) - OMIGAD! I super love this!!! Please order this everytime you are in Honolulu Cafe! :D
DRINKS:
> Ice Red Bean w/ Milk (P130.00) - Oh gad, if you are fond of milk and beans when you were still small, this drink will automatically make you go down the memory lane! :D Taste of red bean and milk is just right and the sweetness to is just enough. I super duper enjoyed this! :D
MAINS:
FYI: For their BBQ offerings, so far it is only available in Ermita Branch only.
1. Roasted Pork Belly (Regular - P450.00/ Half - P675.00) - Tasty, quite salty but still taste good.
What I like about the place is that they are easy to find, just in front of fellow specialty restaurants. I also like how their staff handles our orders. I'm not actually a fan of eating Chinese food but this one's okay.
My favorite out of the bunch is the Curried Fish Balls, this goes best as an appetizer and to up the ante, I also like their Beef Curry, I like that they'd gone to Indian tasting one which is rich in flavor. The Deep Fried Spareribs is also a surprise, it tastes sweet and tangy. Another Deep Fried I like is their Prawns which is also sweet and juicy at the same time.
The main reason I actually don't like about chinese restaurants is their blandness in taste but I do like that they have options for Filipinos to eat with that umami taste, which is above. Other pork food includes the Lechon Macau, Char Siu Pork which I also enjoyed because of the sauces available. I also like their buns as an appetizer more of the Pork Buns and the Chocolate Bun
Overall enjoyed the whole experience. Definitely will go back for some more.
Egg Tart is a staple pastry in Hong Kong. It is widely accessible in most cafes and bakeries there. It’s famous as the origin dated back almost a hundred years ago.
Honolulu Cafe is a franchise from Hong Kong. They recently opened a second branch in Robinson’s Place Manila’s strip of new concept restaurants. While they are known for flaky and smooth egg tarts, Honolulu Cafe also offers other bread and Chinese cuisine for your mains.
We started today’s feast with their signature trio of buns. I got filled up real quick while taking in continuously Honolulu Cafe’s Bolo Bun, Coffee Bun, and snowy Pork Bun. The bread’s texture was excellent, soft, and fluffy. The outer crusts were as impressive, crisp and lightly sweetened.
On mains, I got multiple servings of their Hong Kong specialty roasts, which is exclusive to this store. Don’t miss out on caramelized Barbecue Char Siu, well-marinated Roasted Pork Belly and my fave, Soy Chicken with ginger sauce.
If you are not a fan of meats, have their spiced up Curry Fish Balls or Honolulu Cafe’s best selling, tangy and sweet, Deep Fried Prawn in Thousand Island Sauce. The prawns had mayonnaise so that limited me to a single piece.
Another worth exploring is the Flat Rice Noodles with Beef, a complete meal with carbs, protein, and veggies. This one is ideal too for non-rice eaters.
All these savory meals need a drink. And my beverage of choice was Ice Red Bean with Milk. There’s harmony in it, not overpowering like other similar versions.
If Manila is too far for you, the first store is just in BGC. Inside SM Aura it is located at the lower ground level.
Love at first bite sa Bo Lo BBQ pork bun!!! 😍
Grabe ung ninamnam ko talaga hahaha
..............................................................
Nagtakeout pa ng coffee bun..iba rin! 😄
Excited to try the other Honolulu buns next time!
HK Honolulu Cafe in Robinsons Manila is very spacious. Whether you come solo or with a group, there’s a right spot for everyone. The egg tart and Bo Lo Bun with butter & coffee bun are my favorites under the bread section. The last two are big enough for a moderate eater like me. Egg tart tastes the same as the one in HK! Their milk tea can compete with other shops that sell milk tea alone. The char siu pork and lechon Macau are so tender. I needed extra rice for these!
Located at the food area of the robinson’s magnolia mall. Honolulu hk cafe serves pretty authentic hk food. Curry fish ball and porkchop on noodle for the adults. Sweet and sour pork for the kids.
Honolulu HK Cafe recently opened their 2nd Metro Manila branch in the heart of the Philippine capital, Manila. Located at the Pedro Gil Wing of Robinsons Place Manila, they are in good company with fellow specialty restaurants ready to cater the varied spectrum of customers that abound in the area. For take away, their friendly staff by the front of house are ready to jot down your orders, i recommend the Pork BBQ Buns which has a snowy, crusty top, soft bread and deliciously saucy and savory barbecued pork bits. The NEW Coffee Bo Lo Buns is another new offering that gives their crusty Bo Lo Buns that caffeinated boost. It has that distinct looking crust, with that aroma rich whiff that will entice you to get more.
Their Robinsons Place branch also prides itself with a bigger dining space and a Roasting Station! They are first to offer Roast Pork, Char Siu and Soy Chicken in bigger portions! We adored the Roast Pork because of its crisp skin, delicate fat and soft meat! The mustard sauce gives it the musty earth rich taste. The barbecued char siu on the other hand, is a good meal on its own but i wouldn't fault others if they wish to pair this with a steaming cup of white rice! Who can resist with that flavorful meat and rich, slightly caramelized marinade. Very good portions indeed.
The Curried Fish Balls was quite the treat! Plump slightly springy ground fish, doused in delicious curry sauce. The sweet and sour shrimp was simply divine. Serving looked rather small though, i can consume the entire plate. The Beef Curry is another winning dish using the traditional Indian curry instead of the more Western friendly Japanese curry, which i also love. The meat was fork tender and the sauce, generous helpings. For drinks, ordered the traditional milk tea with ice. Strong but can probably get another serving with the hot weather we are having lately. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience.
The ambience and color of the resto remind me of summer. Pork buns Are definitely one of my favorite among the menu
The egg tart is just the right mix between delicate custard And crusty bread. Their coffee buns are One of the best coffee buns I’ve tried
Soy chicken Goes really well with the ginger sauce And their unique mustard sauce is Tangy and Delectable
Coffee and milk tea - One of the best milk tea I’ve tried With a hint of coffee
Will definitely go back and recommend the family and friends.
One of my favorite stuff out of philippines had arrived it’s a must to indulge with classic bolo bun with butter! Those will never fail your cravings. :) enjoy every treat!
If you want to have a taste of authentic HK food, this is the place. Must order their bo lo buns and egg tarts. Their food fares well too - the curry fishballs are reminsicent of what you'd find in the street, and their claypot rice is really good. The curries are not bad too.
Honolulu HK Cafe Robinsons Place Ermita is a cozy place that is located at the heart of Manila. Just like its pilot store at SM Aura, it has a dine-in area as well as a take-out counter, but much bigger floor area.
This original Cha Chaan Teng (tea restaurant) in Hong Kong is known for baked goods which include its signature egg tarts (P 50 each) and the Bo Lo BBQ Pork Bun (P 60). Besides these goodies, you can also try a few assortment of baked products like the coffee buns to satiate your hunger.
Get your fix of a hearty HongKong-style roast meal at Honolulu HK Cafe. Pork is the real winner when it comes to roast offerings. My favorites out of the whole roster of dishes during my last visit are: Crispy roast pork (Lechon Macau) is good enough on its own. I love biting into the juicy and tender pork meat under its crispy skin. Chinese-style BBQ Pork (char siu pork) is juicy, smokey and sweet.
Soy Chicken (P 450/half; P 900/whole) is soft and a bit bland
And when you're there, don't miss out trying the Deep Fried Spare Ribs with Honey Garlic (P 288), Beef Curry in Casserole and Deep Fried Prawn with Thousand Island (P488) too!
First time to dine here and it was a great experience! Interior will make you feel you're in HK; it's cute and looks clean. Staff were very attentive and food ordered exceeded our expectations.
Bo Lo BBQ Pork Bun (P60) - A personal favorite, it's like the pork bun in Tim Ho Wan but larger and softer.
Hong Kong Style Noodle Soup with Fried Egg (P198) - This one's good for 2, noodles were nicely cooked and the taste was flavorful.
Egg Tart (P50) - Kinda expected so much on this egg tart but I think it lacked some creaminess.
HK Style Milk Tea (P120) - Loved this 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

It’s my first time at Robinson’s Place Manila, we were treated to an array of different dishes from Honolulu Cafe and was told that the roast meats are only availablein this branch and that the place is much bigger compared to the SM Aura branch. Although the SM Aura branch is definitely nearer to my place, it was worth the trip to Rob Place to sample their offerings and get to pick my favorites!
Here are my favorites which I will definitely be coming back for: (and fortunately these are also available in SM Aura branch)
1. Egg tarts - of course! Now I get why it’s a best seller!
The following you will need (or want!) rice:
2. Salted Egg Shrimps - plump freshly cooked shrimps were served to us, it was the first one that got wiped out
3. Honey Garlic Spareribs - expect it to be boney because they’re ribs! But love the tender pork and the taste of the honey garlic. Best to eat with your fingers so you can bite all the meat out.
4. Fish Balls - the sauce is spicy which I like, so good to spoon it over your rice
5. Beef Curry - another one where you shouldn’t forget to pour the curry over your rice and with each spoonful of beef
P.S. Special mention to the noodles - they were tasty!
As for the roasts, the BBQ Pork (char siu/ asado) and the Roast Pork are what I liked most. The Chicken was ok but I have to be honest that Hawker Chan’s Soy Chicken is much better (there’s a reason why they have a Michelin Star 😉).
As for the pastries/ bread, as I mentioned, the Egg Tarts really are the stars of the show! Must have! The breads are okay: the one with butter (of course) is the one I like more, the coffee bun I didn’t “feel” the coffee taste enough, the one with luncheon meat and cheese I think I would be better off ordering a (grilled) ham/spam & cheese sandwich elsewhere and the pork buns, again I have to be honest that Tim Ho Wan’s pork buns are still the best for me (again, there’s a reason why they were given a Michelin star 😉).
Lastly, don’t forget try their Milk Teas! 😋
The servers were helpful, attentive and pleasant. If they could replicate the service we received to every customer, they can improve the low service ratings (feedback) from the previous Zomato reviews I’ve read. Given it’s a new branch, there are really going to be birth pains but from our experience, looks like (or hopefully) they can easily resolve these issues.
Will update review for SM Aura branch once I get to visit, I’m planning to go back and have more of my favorites esp the curry, shrimps and spareribs plus I want to try the baked rice. Hoping I get the same experience in the other branch. P.S. It’s nice how we can now try foreign specialty dishes without having to go abroad (and spending more) as they are already being brought in to the Philippines for us to enjoy here.
