Menchi katsu is crispy on the outside and is flavorful and savory inside. Food is really good but the place is always full and cramped, so the dining experience feels more like eating in a fastfood.
I love the unlimited sides, the miso soup, cabbage, rice, and dessert. The quality of food is always very good, no matter which Yabu branch I go to. I always end up full and happy!
Dined here Sunday night. Good thing Hendrick was the one who served us he is very attentive and fast with the refillables.
I'm about to try this Restaurant tomorrow. I hope it won't disappoint me. See yah๐ฅข๐
Probably one of my most favorite branch of Yabu.
Their crew is very attentive and friendly. Thereโs not much queue which is great.
Aside from that, itโs your regular Yabu which is a great restaurant with lots of refillable sides.
My usual order is their 120g rosu katsu set and their mozzarella sticks. Very yummy!
A bit on pricey, but this restaurant is definitely worth trying, especially since their food is so good! I like a little bit of fat and a lot more flavor in my katsu, so I usually order the rosu part. Their version of curry has such a good blend of spices, though I donโt think their โvery hotโ is hot enough.
Their cabbage and fruits were so fresh, one canโt get enough of them. I also enjoyed the miso soup and the Japanese mayo quite well.
Yabu is one of my favorite restaurants.
Aside from its popularity, food and service is really great. Servers are really polite and very accomodating.
This is a really worth waiting and worth your penny. Youโll never get disappointed.
Weโll surely get back! ๐
The katsu of perfection.
It was shared to me how the place came to be and how the food here are prepared. You may call it simply breaded pork or chicken, etc. But there is something in katsu that makes it unique. And that is for everyone to find out and to experience ๐
Giving it 4 stars because in this branch, I was not asked if Iโm familiar with the Yabu ritual. For me itโs not the Yabu that I used to know.
Iโve been eating at this place for a while but itโs my first time reviewing. Theyโve got the best katsu sets Iโve had with the meat pretty much always cooked to perfection. I love the agedashi tofu as well though I havenโt tried the other appetizers.
The staff is very attentive and are usually pretty quick to get to the customers requests.
Craving satiafied!!!
Before taking UP-CAT for SY2019

I really love Japanese food and this YABU is really a one great place for Japanese food fanatics!

Best katsu sets. Unlimited soup, rice, fruits and cabbage. I love the idea of their ritual: good to do while waiting for the order. Everything in the menu are affordable.
If you're craving for yakiniku this is the best place to go. Tasty plus affordable! I love that they have brown rice which is really healthy. They also search fresh fruits!!!
Glad that Yabu setup branch here. Place was ok. Staff were really nice. Food was awesome as usual.
Menchi Katsu Set (php385) - my fave, it has cheese filling
Cold Appetizers (php210) - 2 servings of Potato & Egg Salad
Agedashi Tofu (php220) - big ass tofu cubes, very flavorful
My typical order would either be the rosu katsu or curry set. a good place where u can savor the meat and have unli rice and salad. The sesame dressing is very yummy!
I always know what to expect when I dine at any Yabu branch. I always walk away satisfied and full. This time I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry Set (Hot), with brown rice. I always refill on the cabbage and drown it with the Goma sauce. Both the service and food were good.
Yabu is the perfect place to get over one's fear of fried food. If your idea of Japanese food is raw fish and ramen, you're in the wrong place.
Nothing says "comfort food" like a beautiful piece of pork breaded and fried to juicy perfection. If anything, Yabu has mastered the art of frying. No surface is left under nor undercooked. Every inch of what they serve is crunchy and consistent across their limited menu.
Overall 5 star experience!! Food was great as usual and was serve in a timely manner, luckily the place is not crowded and what impressed us the most is our server Norlyn!! ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ
Ordered theyโre original chicken katsu, it was juicy and moist! The juices even went down to the rice below, it was really tasted great!
As per the service of the crew, you dont need to ask for a refill most of the time, they will just ask you head on if you need something, all the servers were really very attentive to each customerโs requests ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
Staff is always very accommodating and courteous. The interior gives just the right ambiance that sets the appetite. The food is a little pricey but I could say it is reasonable and the quality, taste, and serving size compensates well.
Good food and service, probably best if you reserve a table here before the College kids arrives, once the place gets packed, expect a long line and wait to satisfy your katsu cravings.

Tori Menchi Katsu has become my favorite from any Yabu branch! Soft, and moist minced chicken with a ham and cheese filling in the center! It's very appealing for picky eaters as it's not wildly inimidating to one's palate. Another dear favorite is the Mozzarella Katsu Sticks! Icould literally finish a whole serving in minutes! As for the place, it could get crowded, and crammed at peak hours, and everyone gets busy, so it's best to anticipate a less intimate dining experience.
I enjoy eating here because of unlimited salad! The food tastes great and servings have good portions. Price is reasonable and service is quick.
Yabu will satisfy your katau cravings. The seaweed and potato salad starters are both interesting picks. The dressing of the potato salad is laced with wasabi, giving it a very unique flavor. The rosu katsu was cooked well. Also, the star of the seafood katsu is the oyster because of the texture. It is both chewy and crunchy.
What I hate, though, is the size of table is not sufficient for the meal trays.
This is my first time to try their food without knowing what to order and what they offer, yabu is a katsu restaurant that serves unli rice and cabagge, their katsu is yummy, the soup that was served is rich, the rice is probably my fave because its so soft. The ambiance was interesting and pleasant. Big thimbs up for Yabu!!
Yabu is our go to whenever we can't decide where to eat. I love their hire katsu set and their potato salad. The servers are very accommodating, as well as their manager. Nothing beats good food and good service combined!
This place is superb. Me and my cousin went there for some place to eat cause wer too picky when it comes to food. Then we arrive at this restaurant, knowing that theyre full but they intend to rush everything to make us seated. The server was great...I forgogt his name, but his patience looks me up and hide to myself that this guy needs a recognition. The food(well I always eat on this place) was still amazing.
Love their unlimited rice, miso soup, fruits and cabbage. Worth it!!!
Food-4/5 Large serving.
Ambience-5/5 cozy Japanese setup
Service-5/5 friendly and accommodating
Cleanliness-5/5
Value for money-4/5
The last time I ate at Yabu was 5 months ago. I felt disappointed that time since their 180g rosu katsu isn't the same anymore. But then thankfully, I went here last Saturday with my parents and it's as juicy and tender as ever again! โค
One of the best katsu house in town! *thumbs up* ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
Fantastic Service!
The service was great, the server is attentive and friendly. Kudos to Ron (server) keep up the good work!
I ordered the KATSU CURRY SET. I chose the Rosu Kurobuta for my meat (Pork Loin with fat), the set also contains a miso soup (refillable), fresh cabbage (refillable) and fruits. The foods are amazing. The pork was perfectly cooked, it's crispy on the outside while it's soft and moist in the inside. The curry sauce is on point. The miso soup is tasty and delicious. The freshness of the cabbage and fruits are incredible.
It's a bit pricey but I assure you it will be worth it.
The service and food quality is high class.
Huge and thick serving of katsu with refillable rice and sides. You also get to make your own sauce. The meat is not tasty enough on its own though. The ambiance of the restaurant is good, I still think it's pricey
We have reviewed a couple of Yabu outlets back then using our personal accounts (Kat Santos and Romelito Manuel Clorina), but since we started to create a food blog, we decided to repost and rereview some of the restaurants we've been to and one of our favorites would be Yabu. We've been to their branch in UP town, MOA, Mega Mall, and here in Rob Manila, and we've shared a lot of memories with Yabu! Memories like first dinner with her parents, first lunch with my parents, lunch with friends, dates, reward dates for a long day, and many more! Ughhh Yabu!
Their katsu is the bomb! Make sure to make the most out of their refillable cabbage, rice, and fruits!
Don't get me started with the mozzarella sticks! Everytime I eat some cheese sticks, I would always say that the best cheese sticks are from Yabu. One time we went there just to avail the buy one take one promo from booky and it was awesome! We were a bit shy just to order 2 whole platters of cheese sticks for us 2 but meh, cheese sticks is life!
The great thing about entering Yabu is that you're sure to exit with a happy and a full belly. We will definitely come back!

Food is excellent especially the Menchi Katsu but overall menu is too pricy. I personally loved the mixing tradition to distract us from waiting for the food, Haha!
We went there with our dog so we opted for the seats outside the restaurant, most of the clients opted to seat inside, it was dinner time, so we were able to get a table fast. Ordered the usual rice bowls and tried the tofu for the first time. Tastes good, but I find the color of the food quiet dark, looks like they have reused the oil for so many times already. Servers were attentive, we asked for a few refills of the soup and cabbage, considering we were seated outside. Food was served hot. Utensils were clean. Tables are clean.
I love the place and good food naman siya. Nakakabusog lang parang nag eat all you can ka na rin. hahaha. Masarap un miso soup nila and the ambiance is nice.
Di ko kinaya bes. Naka-limang kanin ako sobrang sulit. Ano pa ba? Maganda ang ambiance. Sana yung mga staff laging nakangiti. ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
My all time favorite Katsu! Mozzarella sticks is a must! From appetizers to main, it's just perfect as always. The great part is regardless which branch I ate, they are consistent with food quality. Worth every penny.

Been here a hand full of times. Their SM MOA branch was where I had my first dinner with her parents. At this branch, this is where she had her first dinner with my brother and mother. I'd simply copy some parts of my review for their other branches here:
"I love cabbage. Everytime I go here, we never fail to order their mozzarella sticks. Their version of it is one of my all time favorites. There is something about the breading that makes it special among your usual mozzarella sticks. Don't get me started with their katsu. Ughhh. Writing this review made me hungry."
In addition to that, I'd like to add how accommodating and attentive their servers are. Special mention to (K )Carl with his awkwardness who was very attentive to my cabbage needs.
Kinda pricey but this will make your tummy full! Love the ambiance, feels like nasa Japan ako at nasa kita kita na movie dahil sa cabbage hahaha!! Accommodating staffs. ๐ Thumbs up!
Their best seller was delicious! The cutlet was nicely breaded and well cooked. The meat was soft to chew. The service could have been better.
I ordered a 120g Rosu Katsu set and mozzarella sticks. Sa side dish pa lang ng cabbage at soup mabubusog ka na. Ang sarap pa ng sauce. Yung portion ng Rosu was more than enough. I also loved the mozzarella sticks kc manipis lng ang coating. Pricey pero masarap!
Generous rating ako dito kasi value for the money talaga. Unli miso soup, rice n cabbage
Mozarella sticks - ang sarap sarap naman talaga ito. Kaso nakakabusog.
Premium kurobata / rosu / hire / chicken sets - Hindi ako particular sa part ng pork, at di rin ako mahilig sa pork kaya i wont get into details pero masarap lahat. mas trip ko chicken kasi di ko kailangan masyado magchew.
Prawn katsu set - tinry ko dahil mahilig ako sa ebi fry. masarap lalo na with its dip, kaso nabitin ako hahahaaha
Rosu and prawns - Kaya ko pinili to kasi may kasamang rosu dahil may bitin factor yung prawns.
Hands down to the service of this branch. Very commendable! Staff would constantly ask you if you need more of everything, even though the place is kinda packed. However, we were there at lunch time and I can't help but notice why the white rice was not warm as it should be. But overall, I loved the experience. It was our second time here and I can say that we would definitely come back!
The best Katsu restaurant for me!
I love the unli rice, and unli cabbage also!
The place is cozy ang clean!
The staffs & crews are friendly and fast all them are willing to please & well coordinated!
One of my fave restaurants!
5 star vote for YABU! โค๏ธ๐๐ป
Chicken Katsu Curry Set is slightly more affordable than pork and just as delicious. The coating is very crunchy even after several minutes and the meat is just right. The curry sauce is usually served beside the meat but you can request it to be served separately for dipping. Refillable inclusions like the miso soup and cabbage are good as well.
Good food, with the best servings of Unli Cabbage and Fruits! The tea they serve is a thumbs up though its somehow pricey but satisfied with the taste and service of the crew ๐ ๐๐ I hope to try their burger on my next visit. Good job Yabu!
Katsu set with unlimited rice, miso soup, shredded cabbage with your choice of dressing, service tea, watermelon and pineapple. It's unlimited everything except for the katsu.
For the tea, you get to choose hot or cold. For the rice you can opt for brown rice if you want to be on a healthier side.
Other than their katsu, they also have other Japanese dishes and side dishes.
I enjoy eating here with my friends and family.

Food was good, service was okay and we were seated comfortably. Unfortunately, wifi was not available so we got a bit disappointed as we based our decision on a previous review.
The food was very tasty. I liked how strong the curry flavor is on the curry katsu that my companion ordered. I ordered the cheese katsu which also had a good flavor. This is an absolutely good place to eat when you're hungry 'cause they offer unlimited rice. Given their large portions in their meat servings, one meal would definitely fill you up! Also, they offer unlimited veggies (as I remember). The ambiance was great. Semi fancy! The crew was very approachable and polite. I'll come back!โบ
Their katsus speak up to my expectations.
Value for money since you get to refiill all in your set except for the katsu.I love their chicken and dory katsu.
Eating in Yabu is always an experience. From grinding those sesame seeds, pouring that sticky sweet sauce and the sets that is always good for two. Today my family ordered the tori menchi, menchi and salmon katsu sets. I had the salmon which was really really delectable. It was crunchy on the outside and melts in your mouth inside. It was exquisite. I would've loved it even more if the space was not so compact. We went there for lunch and it was full house but the servers where ample enough to see to the customers needs. However, you have to ask them 2-3 times before they serve you rice, cabbage and drink refills. We even have to ask thrice as well for our bill. The food will always be great. But this branch need to level up their serving skills.
SUMMARY: 4.75/5 -(food score) Ate here more than 10 times na. The katsu sets are complete and worth the money. You don't have to order the more expensive meats (I don't). The regular Rosu is good enough (lots of fat pa - sarap).
If thereโs only the two of you on a date, I strongly advise you to only order ONE set each (without additional orders.) Masyadong nakakabusog na. =)
5/5 - for the experience and price
1. ROSU KATSU SET 4.5/5
Rosu Katsu Set- comes in 3 sizes (80, 120, 180g),
- with rice, cabbage, miso soup, and fruits (all refillable).
- they teach you how to prepare the sauce prior to eating which is basically grinding the sesame seeds before pouring the brown sauce.
- This is my favorite item on the menu. The crispy panko coating, the thick slab of meat with trimming of fat, and the katsu sauce with the aromatic sesame seeds. The rosu katsu also goes well with the mustard on the side, but in moderation, as the mustard can get really hot. The meat is soft despite its thickness, and flavorful as compared to its leaner counterpart (hire).
- I eat the meat with the cabbage side. The dressing i like the most would be the sesame dressing. This is the place that taught me how to appreciate Kewpie hahaha. The sesame dressing in the salad, complements the katsu sauce well.
- if you want it a bit spicy, you can also try pouring some torigashi over your rice.
- You think that all the flavors from the meat and salad and mustard must be so confusing, but Katsu + sauce + rice + salad + dressing + mustard = Just wow!!!
- Oddly, all their katsu dishes tastes ALL ALIKE be it PORK (or MENCHI), FISH, CHICKEN or TEMPURA (yep tried it all). However, this goes without saying that they serve amazing Katsu style dishes. A tip would be order the smallest rosu dish if you donโt feel like spending alot, but also want a filling meal.
2. Mozzie sticks- 5/5
This is by far the best mozarella stick i have ever triedโ EVER! Gooey mozzarella inside the crisp breading topped with herbs i am not sure of. It is served with a tangy tomato based sauce. The BEST!!!! try it. If it were up to me, id order this every time i am at yabu, but i easily get full, so i make sure i am with a lot of people when i order this hahaha.
3. Katsudon- 4/5
ok meal. donโt make the mistake of putting tonkatsu sauce over this. The flavor gets lost.
Yabu is one of first restos to offer premium katsu sets. Tonight we ordered hiro 120g (pork loin) and menchi set (ground beef with cheese).
Each set have unli cabbage slaw, rice, miso soup and fruit (pineapple, watermelon).
I love their katsu (equally with saboten) -its light panco breading and tender moist meat inside -'hindi nakaka umay'.
What i love about yabu is the over-all dining experience (creating your own katsu sauce). definitely a favorite place for picky eaters like kids and my brother.
After quite a few months of not eating Katsu, the crave suddenly kicked in. Of course, with the limited number of restaurants serving Katsu, my friends and I decided to get a reservation from Yabu: House of Katsu.
This is my third time eating at the very famous Katsu restaurant. I have always been in love with their Katsu and the complementary unlimited dishes that they serve with it. Two of my friends ordered the menchi katsu with curry, my other friend ordered the dori and tempura katsudon and I ordered their tiger prawns. Just like any other review, let's assess the overall quality of the restaurant according to the taste of their food, the service and the ambience.
In terms of the taste, I can say that I'm a little bit disappointed with my prawns. The color was not golden brown and quite uneven with the other sides. Furthermore, it seemed like the breading was un proportional to the size of the prawns. I tasted more of the breading than the actual flavor of the prawns. With my friends who ordered the menchi katsu with the curry, they mentioned that the eating experience could have been better, if their meals were served warm. Also, they thought that following the server's advice to get a sunny side up egg with their meal was wrong because the cheese from the katsu and the yolk of the egg made the food a little bit gross and produced an eery flavor. My friend who had the katsudon said that he enjoyed everything and he loved the combination the flavors. Of course, their complementary side dishes were always over the top especially their cabbage with the most amazing sesame dressing. In terms of the taste, I say I can give this a 3/5 stars.
In terms of service, Yabu is the best place to come if you really want to be accommodated well. The servers went back and forth to our table, inquiring if we need any refills with our side dishes. They were very quick in responding to our needs. Definitely a 5/5 stars!
When it comes the ambience, I prefer dining at other branches, the place here looks quite ordinary and too plain. But don't worry, there are no issues when it comes to cleanliness. It still looked fine. A 3/5 stars for this!
Overall, I had a great lunch at Yabu. I just wished I ordered their Hire or Menchi Katsu. At least, now I know better.
I was disappointed to find out that the vegetable set was taken off the menu, aside from that, I was surrprised to find out that the pickled side dish (the one with pickled yellow, green, and red vegetables) is not going to be served anymore unless the customer specifically requests for it. And after requesting for it, they only served me the green pickles. Is this a protocol for all Yabu branches now?

Yabu always pleases. I've been to Yabu for a couple of times already, and i must say, it is always filled with chill hang outs with friends as we talk about school, among other things. My friends and i ordered diff types of katsu, and we were pleased.
I just wish Yabu would soon offer student promos for college students like us who casually run to the nearest malls during long breaks! Definitely worth the money. Definitely authentic as well :)

Yey! This is my first time to write or comments in a blog. Me & friends had lunch here, i order for menchi and its so yummy ๐ feeling ko lumaki tuloy ang tummy ko hahaha b'coz of their refillable set like cabbage, soup, rice and fruits.Yung fruits nilang parang binabad sa sugar sa sobrabg tamis (yummy) And ofcourse when it comes to the service WOW as in WOW ๐ hello to our server Ms. Anne ๐ you did a great job, even though peak hours at sobrang daming guest hindi nya kami napabayaan and even the other guest. Thank You Ms. Anne for taking care of us. Keep it up ๐ sana ikaw ulit mag assist sa amin next time ๐ and thanks YABU for the yummy food.. Good job also b'coz you hired the right people to assist the guest ๐๐๐ God Bless ๐
Several times i visited here and the branch consistently hails their excellent service, and the succulent food they offer maintains the quality and freshness at all times. Friendly staffs that wears the smiles in their faces make the guests more comfy and satisfied. Jam ( server ) - keep it going. Did not forget to do table touch to assure the needs of the guests. Kudos to this branch!
I had lunch here at peak hour and my boyfriend and I were lucky enough to be seated right before other customers were filing up.
I had my usual Chicken Katsu set but this time with brown rice. I was kind of hesitant because it was the first time I had brown rice outside my home, but it was good!
The food, as usual, was so worth it. Especially when you're the type of person who asks for six more cups of rice (ehem)!! You're really going to get your money's worth.
The only thing I did not like was the place. We were seated at a table on the middle aisle and it was almost uncomfortable. My boyfriend bumped the tables beside ours for a couple of times because the space was that small (but he's about 6'1" tall).
Anyhow, I did not have any major problem with the customer service because the servers were attentive. You wouldn't have to ask them for an extra this or that most of the time; they'd approach you before you even felt the need to ask! The serving time was quite long, though. It took about 15 minutes for our food to be served.
We decided to celebrate the Mother's Day kanina in Yabu,Robinson's Place Manila. Its our first time to eat there and deffinitely not our last. First the service was so good ,and bait ng mga staff ,from the door ,pag serve ng food and even pag- alis aasikasuhin ka nga mga staff ang babait. Second, the food ang sarap sulit talaga. We ordered Hire Katsu Set,Salmon Set Deluxe Seafoids Set and grabe sarap ng choco lava cake. Thanks for the warm accomodation and good food :-)
I lurve the food!! Service is excellent! Thank you judy ! For assisting us. Its my first time to dine in at yabu , and truly will be coming back . Ambience is so comfy. โบ
It was my first time eating here. I actually liked the Menchi Katsu. It was a heavy serving with unli rice but it was great. Though I didn't like the yellow thingy near the katsu but all in all, the serving is great!
I've seen it around but I've never entered a place specializing in katsudon. Katsudon is the Japanese dish that I least crave for until I entered Yabu.
I ordered the menchie set and my friend ordered the tori menchie set. It comes with unlimited white or brown rice, cabbage and miso soup.
The katsudon was a melt in your mouth experience. It was so delicately done. The cabbage comes with different sauces: goma, wasabi, shoyu. I like the wasabi dressing.
The decor is an eclectic mix of traditional and modern Japanese. Very well done.
I'd come back. Suddenly, katsudon has a whole new meaning to me
The waiter and waitress is so friendly and accommodating. The food is a bit pricey but it was worth it, the foods are so delicious. ๐๐ผ I'll definitely eat here again and try out their other dishes.

Yabu's interiors is a play of modern and traditional Japanese design. I like how the Ermita branch is well maintained and clean. The place was also well lighted, Medyo maaliwas. I came in after lunch hour rush so service was fast.
I ordered the Rosu set in 120g. Meal is good for one and came with cabbage, miso soup, white rice, bowl of fruit (watermelon and pineapple). The last time I dine in Yabu I ordered the Hire and I realized that I like it better with fat. Pork was tender and almost the melt -in-your-mouth kind. Breaded lightly and crisp in every bite. I love the fresh Panko breading. The miso soup was also good and the Japanese rice was heavenly. When they served my meal the server introduced me to the many different condiments in my table, pointing out which is for which.
I like the blend of their katsu sauce, not to overpowering and complimented the katsu well.
Their iced tea is also good.
Prices are competitive and worth it naman.
I have always been a fan of Japanese food and Yabu is one of my go-to restaurants whenever I'm craving for katsu ever since. So when I found out that they opened a branch near UP Manila, I immediately tried it out! I had my first Yabu experience at SM MOA so I already had an idea of what to expect from the Ermita branch. I had a very pleasant experience in the MOA branch so I was kind of expecting the same treatment and quality service from Yabu Ermita. To my surprise, the costumer service in this Yabu branch was way better than that of MOA. The servers were extra nice and attentive. They guided us through the whole process of choosing and ordering our food. They also introduced us to the variants of dressings, dips, and sauces that we can use for our food (even though we have already eaten in Yabu before). They also periodically checked on us to see if we needed something throughout our meal. Overall, the service here was excellent and I hope the MOA and Magnolia branch can also adapt the same methods that they have here in Robinson's Ermita. In terms of food, as usual, Yabu did not disappoint. I have already tried the Kurobuta Pork Set before so I was looking for something new. I decided to try one of their katsu curry sets, Rosu Katsu Curry (400 pesos), and and a serving of their brand new Furikake Fries (175 pesos). The curry was so good. It was very creamy with just the right amount of spicy (you can choose the level of spiciness). The fries were excellent too. I really liked the Japanese twist that they incorporated to its flavor. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience here in Yabu and I'm definitely coming back here to try some more of their dishes soon!
I preferred ordering the original or plain tonkatsu over the minchi set because of the taste. Unlimited white or brown rice, fruits, cabbage and miso soup. Comfort room was clean and staff were attentive.
It was actually my first time to try yabu: house of katsu. I was invited by my friends to try it. I ordered chicken katsu for 180 grams with lychee bottomless iced tea. I love how they presented the food it was so artistic and pleasing to the eye. The lychee iced tea is very authentic in taste and you can smell the fruit which is very awesome. The rate is not that expensive for its class. Unlike with tokyo tokyo or any other resto claims that they are authentic japanese resto, yabu is much much better. And ill definitely coming back.
The ever so reliable yabu. The place is great, cozy and relaxing, the staffs are nice and courteous, the foods are great and tasty . Tonkatsu are really tender and tasty, unlimited cabbage and rice, miso taste just right, pickled veggy pump up my appetite, dessert so and so.
If your craving for a big, juicy and tender tonkatsu , Yabu is the answer to your cravings, but if your looking for variety of foods better look somewhere else.
Price reasonable enough, if its really the tonkatsu you want.
Overall I am a satisfied customer.
my momentary splurge ftom time to time when im craving for tender tonkatsu. actually the food is worth every penny given the taste and quality. Also the unlimited rice, miso soup, pickled veg and cabbage is value for your money. . . specially the cabbage almost always 3 servings when im there. Plus the staffs are real nice and very helpful. . . The grunding of the sesame seeds is a very zen effect if you want to have a break from the office stress.

What i love about Yabu is their excellent service! My friend and i had our lunch here and we de decided to try a different set other than their premium tonkatsu since this is not our first time to dine here. We ordered the menchi katsu and the menchi katsu curry. Both were good and really filled us up. Of course, we love the unlimited rice, miso soup, pickles, fruits and cabbage that goes with all their set.
Love the place! Katsu for me is in terms of value is still Katsu Sora because they have an unlimited salad bar and diff dressings. Though the Miso soup at Yabu is very delicious!
But what won me over are the STAFF! Like seriously! They're serving a lot of costumer at that time but they were still smiling and asking me if I need anything, if my bowl starts to empty with a specific dish they would run to me and ask me if I need more. I barely need to raise my hand for their attention. Katsu sora may have unlimited salad bar but not the service and smiles they give you at Yabu ermita. Even those fine dining didnt do as good as yabu staff!
If not for the staff I would go back to other katsu house. But because if the staff, yabu ermita would be my to go for a katsu fix!
Food 8/10
Ambiance 7/10
Value 8/10
Service 11/10 (lol)
Second time to eat at Yabu ๐ This time, Peejay and I were with Mama so basically, the food was free. I ordered the Menchi Katsu, Peejay ordered the Special Chicken Katsudon and Mama ordered the Cream Dory Katsu. I failed to finish my meal because it was so heavy and I enjoyed eating the cabbage salad ๐ If compared to the original katsu that I ordered in ny first time, I would say that the Menchu Katsu is also worth a try because it sure is worth one's budget ๐ I also got to taste Mama and Peejay's meals and I highly commend Yabu for having such delicious meals.
Ugh I love this place. It's essentially unlimited everything. Cabbage. So much cabbage. Their tonkatsu and seafood sets are great. The staff is great too.
Yabu is finally open in Robinsons Ermita. The place is pretty packed (as expected), but we were able to get a seat fairly quickly because the servers work really fast
Service:
The servers are fast and friendly; they will explain how to eat at Yabu if you say/they can tell that you're a first-timer. I just feel that the refills are a bit slow.
The food:
Rosu (120g) the pork was soft and cooked perfectly and the special panko breading was wonderfully crisp. Everything in this set tasted great, and I love how everything's refillable! It makes me feel like I'm getting what I paid for.
Menchi Seafood Set
- Cream Dory Katsu, Jumbo prawn katsu, and menchi katau.
The Cream Dory Katsu, to me, was too salty and the jumbo prawn was overcooked. But the Menchi Katsu (minced beef and pork with a creamy cheese filling) was to die for. Definitely going to order just the Menchi set without the seafood next time.
I love the refillable sides-- especially the fruit with the special pink sauce!
Overall, the katsu is great, but the pricing's very steep.
When this Yabu branch opened up the other week, I knew it was going to be popular and packed. So when it was decided as the venue for Saturday night dinner, my sister and I went to the mall earlier than everyone else to put our names on the list.ย
It was a wise decision because there were about ten other names before ours. Being a group of five and requesting for a table inside, we knew it was going to take a while. During our wait, everyone in line was actually offered hot or cold tea, which was nice. It took about an hour for us to be seated but that was expected.
Design-wise, it is the standard Yabu look. I did notice that this restaurant is the smallest of all the branches I have ever been at. Seating-capacity looks to be at around 50 for the interior and 16 for the exterior. The inside can feel a little bit cramped, especially where we were seated by the door.
Service-wise, it was surprisingly excellent for opening week. The staff were very friendly and efficient as well as constantly smiling - I would like to commend the woman manning the entrance because she was very patient. They answered all our questions regarding the menu. We even got our food orders within a very reasonable time span despite the restaurant being packed. It was also very easy to get re-fills of our cabbage/rice/soup.
Also, it turned out the manager was a former employee of my parents' so we got some free appetizers and a take out sample of the "Tonkatsu Burger" that the restaurant will be launching. So that was a fun surprise and made our dining experience more memorable.
Food-wise, I only have general comments since I've given a more in-depth review of their food at their Glorietta Complex branch. I would like to note though that it is amazing how this restaurant is very consistent with its food among most of its branches.ย
Something new that caught my eye was that they now offer brown rice as an option. Regarding their tonkatsu dishes, they are served nice and hot and are of top-notch quality and flavor.ย
Over-all, for my experience at this branch I am giving it a 4.5. It is actually a rating that is 0.5 higher than the Glorietta Complex branch. Despite quality of the food being the same, the ultimate difference between these two locations wasย the level of service. The Ermita branch surpassed their counterpart by miles, and Iย hope they can keep up. I am looking forward to dining here again in the future.
