When I’m craving for some Chinese dim sums, I know where exactly to go. Tim Ho Wan is one that offers the best in the industry. I first tried this dim sum restaurant chain based from Hong Kong in one of its branches in Glorietta and since then, I frequent the place. I took my family at Robinson’s Place Manila branch couple of months ago as I’m pretty sure they’d love the food here.
Food is good as always! My family and I enjoyed lunch in this branch. Ordered dimsum, noodles, rice and their pork buns. Tofu with pork floss remains one of the best 👌🏼 hehe
The first time I tried Tim Ho Wan is in HongKong. I'm glad they brought it here in the PH and did not compromise taste. Everything tasted exactly the same as the original. One of the new dishes I've tried and loved is the tofu with pork floss. It's fried on the outside, but really soft and pillowy on the inside. Other favorites would include the baked bbq bun.
Food: Never miss their pork buns, hakaw and milk tea!
Place: Always on top of the list for Chinese food. Resto was less crowded when we got here even at lunch time. Staffs were efficient, too.
Price: Worth your bucks!
Favorite HK style restaurant! I love their spinach dumpling with shrimp, vermicelli roll with sweet and sesame sauce, wasabi salad prawn dumpling, and of course, their baked pork BBQ buns. Two main dishes that is always on our table would be the spinach dumpling with shrimp and the wasabi salad prawn dumpling! Super good!
Pictures below: Beef ball with beancurd skin; Wasabi salad prawn dumpling; Glutinous rice with lotus leaf; Vermicelli rolls with sweet and sesame sauce and Spinach dumpling with shrimp
If you want to go for tasty Chinese food, this place is just always on the list. They got a wide array of choices.
It's definitely not cheap but worth the price too.
Here's what we got :
Spinach dumpling with Shrimp
Baked Bun with BBQ Pork
Vermicelli Roll with Shrimp
Chow Mien Stir Fried Noodle
The Baked Bun is to die for.. and it hasn't changed since this restau was launched here in the PH.
Tim Ho Wan still serves the best Pork Buns in town! How they make them soft, crumbly, and sweet with savory barbecue pork inside is a real mystery.
The Chicken and Sausage Rice is as good, especially with its signature soy sauce. I suggest pairing this with stir-fried, crisp vegetables for a balanced meal.
Just typing these dishes has made me crave for a visit very soon. I also look forward to have their savory Radish Cake and their number of dumpling options. More branches, please!

Very fast service. I always like how Chinese food here is so basic but so easy to eat. I have cough so I wanted the plain congee to avoid oily food that are not good for my throat. Vermicelli tastes artificial to my mom maybe because it’s the new vegetarian food on the menu? Need to confirm that one but I really liked it since it has this unique Chinese leaf spice that is very distinct. Was not able to take a photo of the Pork Buns and steamed spinach and shrimp but they were good too.
My Order:
Steamed Spinach Dumpling with Shrimp
Spare Ribs Rice
Food Quality
I have nothing but good things to say about the quality of their food. The dumplings were freshly steamed and generously stuffed. The spare ribs were flavorful without being too overpowering. All in all the tastes were balanced and light.
Food Portions
For its price, Tim Ho Wan’s servings are adequate, though not generous, specially for the spare ribs rice.
Service
The waiters were alert and prompt though they weren’t as polite as in their other branches.
Went here specifically to try their milk tea on my brother's reco.
Milk tea is must try! Balance of sweetness and bitterness of tea.
Food is delicious but expensive for their serving size. :)
We’ve ordered siumai, prawn dumplings, congee, dumpling with spicy sauce. Everything was so yummmm!!! I’ve tried many dimsum places but I can confidently say that Tim Ho Wan ranks the top of my list. The price is not too bad either. You might feel the service is a bit slow but I guess that happens to many other busy restaurants too. We had no issues with staff or their services. I would definitely visit here again on my next trip to Manila :)
Good food, good price, good serving. The staff are okay, polite and easy to call. Lunch time is not a busy time for them though we ate on a weekday.
Dimsum place with few selection of dishes. Their pork buns are the best. Other dishes that we ordered were also delicious.

This place is always one of my favorites go-to eat place.
The pork bun, chicken feet, hakaw are my top favorites from this place. You can just order more if you feel like eating more. Service is always fast even their place is always full.
Tim ho wan is my favorite/ go-to restaurant whenever I'm craving for dimsums. I can't afford to go to hong kong whenever I'm craving. 😂😂
the food was great and so is the service of the restaurant. Maybe the owner could install extra air-conditioning unit, it's kinda hot inside.
Tasty and delicious food. Value for money. Would deffo go back for hacao and pork buns. All pork dishes are tender and juicy. Spare ribs really fall off the bone. Two thumbs up!
(Ordered Pork Buns, Hacao, Spare Ribs Rice, Chicken-Sausage-Mushroom Rice, Spare Ribs in Black Bean Sauce, Beancurd Rolls with Pork and Shrimp, A pot of Oolong and Jasmine Tea)
I had high expectations from Tim Ho Wan, but even though my visit was somewhat disappointing I still think it's the best place to get Chinese food in Robinsons Manila.
Anyway, first off we wanted to claim a buy 1 get 1 dessert from Booky. The waiter told me I have to scan the code from the counter so it seems to me the staff is well aware of the promo. After scanning the code, the instructions prompted me to show it to the cashier WITHIN 10 minutes. The cashier told me I have to wait for the timer to end. It's not my first time using Booky, and in other places they would just acknowledge the order once you showed them the timer but the cashier firmly told me otherwise. Long story short, the timer ended, they didn't process my dessert order and it showed up on my Booky history as 'claimed'.
Moving on, some of our food was already served when I got back to our table. The servings were smaller than we'd like but it was surprisingly filling (but I feel like I have to point out we could eat much more). We had the following:
Baked Bun with BBQ Pork - I had high hopes for this so I was a bit underwhelmed. The bun was divine but I didn't like the filling that much
Rice with Beef and Fried Egg - Tastes alright
Spare Ribs Rice - Tastes alright
Jade Wonton Soup - My favorite that day, the dumplings on it were delicious!!
Egg Noodle Soup with Fish Ball - This was my dad's food, I dunno what it tasted like
Despite the overall underwhelming experience I still want to go back. The dumplings on the wonton soup was really delicious, so I want to try out more of their dimsums next time.
2 things I love and would always order are their Pork Buns and Prawn Dumpling. They are both very tasty and worth the price especially the pork buns since it comes in 3 pieces. I have tried Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong and I would say that I would prefer their pork buns there since it is less "airy" with more meat inside but nevertheless their pork buns here in the Philippines is really good. The mix of tastes from the sweet bread to the savory pork is something I always look forward to.
I love the pork buns. They are my favorite. In addition, the ambiance was nice and clean and the staff was very accommodating to its customers. However, they took so long to serve the food that we ordered.
Baked Bun with BBQ Pork:
This will always be in our list of orders. That outer crunch concealing very hot, sweet, and meaty fillings always impresses us.
Beancurd Skin Roll with Pork & Shrimp:
I found this fascinating. It's not our regular order and I enjoyed its overall flavor. This will be considered for another adventurous return.
Braised Chicken Feet with Abalone Sauce:
My mouth was very busy trying to segregate the bones and meat and it was a fun experience! I'll enjoy this dish in any sauce and theirs was pretty good!
Braised Soup HK Style with Shredded Chicken and Mushroom:
This was okay. I'm probably not a fan of this type of soup but I wouldn't mind eating it again.
Cold Barley Water:
It was bland but what else could I have expected? Haha!
Pork Dumpling with Shrimp:
If we don't get Prawn Dumplings, this one is almost always present at our table. So yes, it's good! Since each bite was packed with pork and shrimp, it was pretty worth it.
Pork Rib with Black Bean Sauce:
I found it simple, subtle, and oily but perfect to my liking!
Prawn Dumpling:
Such a dumpling is our all-time favorite and this is the first kind we'd usually look for at any restaurant serving dumplings. The wrapper looked cute and fluffy yet it did a good job keeping all the generous pieces of shrimp packed together without easily breaking apart.
Vermicelli Roll with Shrimp:
My experience of this was simple: It's like an elongated Prawn Dumpling but with sauce.

Service is quick and staff is efficient.
Pork buns and Prawn dumplings are a must try!
Great “treat yourself” meal on a budget. Never left Tim Ho Wan not extremely full.
Food: Delicious food. I love the Pork Buns, the spring rolls, and other dimsum
Ambiance: Simple, clean dining setting
Price: Price was okay. Its around 100 something per dish
Highly recommended
3 dishes I've never failed to order whenever we dine in THW are baked BBQ pork bun, pork congee and hakaw. They are my favorite and have the closest semblance to the taste of HK dimsum. Unlike in other dimsum restos where congees are watery (malabnaw) and either bland or too salty, THW's lean pork congee is thick and very flavorful, they also add diced century and salted eggs, awesome! Other dimsum are good but not spectacular, shrimps in hakaw are fresh and crunchy. Food maybe good but service is not. Most servers are smug, like they pretend to not see you waving at them for service. Courteousness is one virtue that's lacking among THW's waiters. To most of THW's wait staff, to be blunt, if not for the compulsory service fee, you guys really don't deserve to get a tip.
Tim Ho Wan is my go-to restaurant whenever I need my Chinese food fix in the mall. Prices are affordable and you can't go wrong with any dish you order. Dim sum entrees are delicious and I also like their rice meals.
There used to be a long queue here but now I'm glad I was able to be seated right away. My first order of business is always their signature pork buns which perhaps is the biggest "attraction" here. These glorious baked buns with bbq pork are pillowy soft, light, not oily, not chewy, with crumbly pastry crust that’s so freshly baked. The char siu filling is sweet and savory. It’s an indulgence, no doubt.
The Prawn & Wasabi Dumplings are also a delight. Featuring savory and spicy flavors, these are coated with a crisp batter and certainly pack a punch.
If you haven't tried dining at Tim Ho Wan yet, I suggest you check it out soon. The one-page menu promises lots of interesting and inexpensive dishes to tempty adventurous food lovers.
Every time I go here I always look forward to eating their baked bun. It's crispy when you first bite into it but it's soft inside and it leaves you craving for more. Their baked bun is really a must try, I never leave Tim Ho Wan without eating their baked bun, I also love their Prawn Dumpling and Pork Dumpling with shrimp but a meal is not complete without rice. Their Rice with Beef and Fried egg may look like that it's not enough for one person but trust me it's more than enough. I always leave Tim Ho Wan feeling satisfied and super full.
Go-to Chinese place for sit-in orders and deliveries. Their food is consistently good. You can eat dimsum and have meals and desserts here too! Try the mango pomelo dessert. When you can't decide where to eat, there's always Tim Ho Wan.
Been here for many times and I always go back for their pork buns and shrimp dumpling! Some dishes are just so-so. The place is located just by the mall’s entertainment hall which makes it impossible to talk with your peers when there’s an event 😂
Everything's just sooo good! Bean curd, pork buns and their hakaw are a must try.
EDIT: I LOVE THEIR CHOW MIEN.
Definitely my go-to place for Chinese comfort food. I hope they serve orange chicken soon. 😂
No doubt about the taste. It lives up to its michelin-star rating standard. Must try are their soft yet crisp in the surface pork buns, the heavenly dimsums dipped in a special black vinegar and the mango pomelo sago for dessert. I just noticed how the serving size gets tinier and tinier. One order is not enough for those with huge appetites!
Its a fast-paced place. You have to eat fast as there are others waiting outside. Service speed is average and the waiters have become inattentive to customers’ needs.
Touted as a Michelin-star restaurant, it definitely gives you a bang for your buck. Their dimsum is priced reasonably and it is always of great quality. The hakaw and chicken feet are the two things that you shouldn’t miss. Likewise, the machang and chicken rice are seasoned well.
However, I noticed that the serving size of the dimsums get smaller. A few months ago, the dumplings in vinaigrette contains 6 servings. Now, they only serve 4. The chicken feet, before, has 4 servings. Now, it’s just 3.
I will never get tired of Tim Ho Wan's pork buns. Straight out of the kitchen, they have a crusty, toasty exterior that masks how soft the entire thing is to the bite. The pork is succulent; cooked to perfection in a sweet, savoury sauce that just can't be replicated!
When I first learned that they gained their Michelin star because of their Baked Bun, I thought what could possibly be so special about it. But true enough, their Baked Bun is really delicious! Though I somehow find the pork filling a little too sweet for my taste, the dough is divine!
My favorite here is their baked bun with BBQ pork.
It taste really great and delicious. I could stay here in this restaurant by eating just that dish.
Aside from the bun, other dishes like the vermicelli rolls and spare ribs are really a must try as well.
No wonder whenever I pass by this restaurant the waiting list is really long because food is to die for. Though their service is fast and staffs are accommodating.
It was my first time to dine at Tim Ho Wan! My mom would usually take home dimsum at Tim Ho Wan whenever she's out thats why I have no idea whats on their menu. And finally I had a chance to grab some meryenda because Robinson's is just near my school and saw Tim Ho Wan!! Yaay!! I ordered their chef's menu which is Beef Brisket Wanton! I loved it!! Suprisingly all the dishes will not fail you! I thought they were just famous because of their dimsum and pork buns but their noodles are also must try! 👌🏻 Will definitely try all their dishes one time! 🙂
Egg beef rice was delicious with soft fried egg and there own unique sauce. However it comes me with small bowl and feel a little pricey ,it was delicious and I can come back only for that menu.
This branch is very efficient.
We were seated immediately, our orders were promptly taken and served.
We tried their brisket and tendon noodles, tofu with floss and our favorite vermicelli shrimp. All satisfying.
Bill was also given promptly and the area was spacious unlike other branches.
Probably the cheapest Michelin Star restaurant to exist.
Their dimsum are phenomenal, especially the spinach and shrimp one. Their hakaw is delicious as well.
My absolute favorite here is their egg cake! It’s so heavenly! For just 85 php you get this absolutely fluffy and delectable cake in a big serving!
Totally would go back here
Had lunch here and really enjoyed the food. The hagaw (shrimp dumpling) was great in that the skin covering wasn't too thick and I really liked the poached greens. Overall had a good experience, would go here again.
The food was great, and aptly priced, if I may say so myself. If you're on the hunt for authentic dimsum at a very reasonable price, they've got you covered. I just wished they offered more dishes that's comprised of a rice-viand combination. Other than that, I've got no complaints. I would definitely come back for more.
Tim Ho Wan has been around for quite some time now but it's only recently that we got to try it out because lol finally no long lines.
We tried several things on their menu but will just write about the pork buns as I'll be writing a post about this soon. 😁
The pork buns are okay, a bit sweet though.
Place is big, and service here is just okay. There's not much waiting time which is a plus.

Tim Ho Wan was one of the first restaurants Josh and I dined at this 2017. I know it's super late already, but it's my first time here (no judging, I am not a big fan of Chinese food, medyo sawa na HEHE 😝), while Josh has tried their food already so he knows what to order.
We're all for being progressive and equal, so we usually split the bill when we eat out. (Which I like, since I don't believe in always letting the guy pay. After all, we're both working anyway.) But this time, he paid for our meal as our celebration for his job regularization in his first job. HOORAY!! 🙌
Here's what we got:
✔ Baked Bun with BBQ Pork (Php 145 / 3 pcs) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I remember back in the day when there was so much hype about Tim Ho Wan, and I've heard so much about these buns, so I was really excited to try it out. When I took my first bite, I noticed the freshness of the buns, coupled with quite a generous amount of BBQ pork filling. The bun itself was a winner! I loved how it had a crisp texture on the outside, but a soft and fluffy texture on the inside that melts in your mouth! 😍 The filling was okay. It was similar to the usual asado filling we find in siopaos. It was flavorful, but did not really have that WOW feeling from me.
✔ Prawn Dumplings (Php 160 / 4 pcs) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yes, the price is a bit steep compared to the Hakaws of other dimsum places, but their version did not disappoint. The wrapper had the right thickness and was not soggy, and the prawns enveloped inside had that sweet seafood taste as well as a very good texture, a sign that the prawns used were of the highest quality. Still giving it 5⭐ despite the price, since it was super good; sulit pa rin for the quality!
✔ Beancurd Skin Roll with Pork and Shrimp (Php 140 / 3 pcs) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I LOOOVE BEANCURD ROLL! Again, Tim Ho Wan's version is a bit expensive, and each piece is quite small compared to the ones I've tried before in other restaurants. 😢 What sets it apart though, was the freshness of the shrimps used, and the fact that it has shrimp in it!!! Most beancurd rolls have pork only as their filling, probably why they are priced less.
✔ Braised Chicken Feet with Abalone Sauce (Php 120 / 4 pcs) - ⭐⭐⭐
Tim Ho Wan's chicken feet is not the usual chicken feet you'll find in your usual dimsum place, that one that has the reddish orange hue. Their version (check the photo) is braised in abalone sauce, giving it a unique taste that only Tim Ho Wan can offer. The chicken feet were also cooked to perfection, not too soft, so they would not be mushy nor fall of their bones before we eat it. I still prefer the usual chicken feet version, though!
The ambiance of Tim Ho Wan here in Robinson's Place Manila is okay, but I feel like the tables are too close with each other and I somewhat feel like my personal space is being invaded by other people. 😅 The service is hit-or-miss (as of this writing, I've been here thrice already), as there were times that their female servers are a bit masungit. 😢
Based on my other visits, another must try is the Spare Ribs Rice (Php 170), which can be good for sharing for 2 people who does not eat a lot (and has ordered a lot of other food items). The serving size of the meat is very generous, and the rice is cooked well. Make sure to have the restaurant staff pour some sauce on your rice bowl! 💜
Please skip the Chow Mien Stir Fried Noodle (Php 130), quite pricey for an ordinary tasting dish. It's really not that good and a bit oily. It also lacked toppings. I would actually prefer Eat Fresh's HK Style Noodles over this, always.
That's it! Hope this still helps, even if the hype has long died down already. 😅
Food is nice and not oily. Consistent quality as expected. But... Service is wuerdly inefficient for a hk restaurant. Cooking time was mighty slow as well. Food quality saved the experience.
Today's Chinese New Year and wedding anniversary were celebrated in Tim Ho Wan because, why not? We love their pork buns! One order was not enough for our 11-year old son. Lol! We tried their chow mien. It was kinda sweet. Sakto lang. Their steamed prawn dumplings, on the other hand, were very good. These fresh, plump prawns in thin wrapper are one of the best in Manila. Our new fave is their spare ribs rice. Sarap nya with its tasty spare ribs and special sauce poured over glutinous-like rice. Yum, yum, yum! 😁💜💜💜💜
The food was delicious although they have small servings. Service was also good and fast. The staff was accomodating. Been going back to this restaurant because the food quality is great and I especially love their pork bun. Appears like a hard shell on the outside but is actually fragile. The outside part is sweet and when you bite into it the mixture of the sweet bun and the salty meat inside really mesh well together.

With the title of world's cheapest Michelin-star restaurant, then expectations are sky high. But don't you fret since Tim Ho Wan certainly meets that making each visit very satisfying. It may not have a lot of menu items but each order is as delicious as it is appetizing. This being a well-known restaurant all over the world, prices are affordable even with its reputation so make sure that you reserve a seat if you can't wait since most of the time, this place is packed. Nothing more to say but to just simply go here, it's a must.

We came here a little early so we didn't have to wait in line. As always the food is great and the service is prompt. We love their shrimp dumplings and pork buns.

The hype about the damn baked buns is REAL. Those buns are the bomb. Really good. Soft yet sorta flaky. Pillowy na hindi maintindihan. I lit up after biting into them. Kahit yung bread na lang, kahit wala na yung filling.
With that said:
Service: quick, polite. Surprisingly fast. Even when they said food will be served in 15 minutes, it arrived earlier than that.
Place: a bit crowded, but it was as expected. Clean. Tables are a bit small if you're ordering a lot.
Food:
We ordered:
Siomai pork with shrimp, beancurd steamed roll with pork and shrimp, hakaw: rated 3.5/5 by Sparky
Chow mein: Yum! 4.5/5
Baked bun with pork filling: akgkkwoxndiwnfkejfn!!! 5/5
Parking: Rob Manila has parking. Located in Midtown wing, so better to park in Pedro Gil side if you don't like to walk far :)
Sorry, no photo of the siomai and beancurd :)

It's been awhile since I've eaten at Tim Ho Wan and I really missed their Pork Buns So I brought my boyfriend with me to Rp since it's the nearest place where we can get Pork Buns cause I am craving for it!
When Tim Ho Wan opened it's first branch in the Philippines, it became a total hit and everyone I know would line up for hours just to get a hand of their pork buns. I though "Psssh!" Why are these people lining up for this, those are just pork buns which I've mistakenly associated with Siopao so I thought those people were too crazy to be obsessed with it. Little did I know I will love it too and will even be going back for it again and again.
I've been to Tim Ho Wan for around 3x already maybe? Yet I still haven't had enough Pork Buns that would make me tired of wanting it. So here are my top picks at Tim Ho Wan that I think i'd still be ordering even in the future:
🍘BAKED BUN WITH PORK BBQ P145 (3pcs.)
Ahhh! Glorious Pork Buns ❤️ I honestly never thought I would like it since one of my peeves is to eat sweet viands like sweet and sour fish fillet, or bbq flavored food which I hate the most yet I REALLY REALLY FIND THIS DELICIOUS.
When I first saw it, it was love at first sight. I held it in my hands lightly then touched the outer shell softly and carefully as if it was the most delicate thing, smelled it and slowly munched on it. MMM! I can still remember that it tasted so good my first try made me dance! Hahaha!
I usually dance when the food is good and my boyfriend knows this LOL hahaha! So he laughed at me and even danced with me cause he liked it too!
It's good that regardless of the temperature, it still tastes good when it's room temp. But definitely TASTES better when HOT. I can eat around 6 pcs. In one sitting. The price is a good steal for 3 glorious quality pork buns! It's also an ideal meal for take outs!
🍤PRAWN DUMPLING P160 (4pcs.)
Prawn Dumpling or Hakaw is my favorite Dimsum! The boyfie and I would agree that the best Hakaw we've ever tried would be at Tim Ho Wan's. We're both Hakaw fanatics and we have like a list of the best Hakaw's we've ever tried and this definitely is on top of it!
The serving of the shrimp is very generous, tastes very fresh, the wrapper is lights which doesn't make it too chewy, pair it with soy sauce and chili oil, and you're all good!
🍚RICE WITH CHICKEN SAUSAGE AND MUSHROOM P170
Served in a hot stainless cup bowl, I find this meal interesting cause it comes with a special sauce that's supposed to be mixed with the rice and everything that's includes on the meal. Kevin ate all of it, and knowing that he's not much of a rice-consumer, I thought this must be really good ❤️ The serving is also worthy of the P170 cause it'll definitely fill you up!
🍙VERMICELLI ROLL WITH PIG'S LIVER P150
At first bite I didn't understand how I would feel about this dish, I still can't find the right term to explain how this dish tasted but it's good. All I can say is without the special sauce it wouldn't taste as good cause the Vermicelli has no taste at all. Lol. I enjoyed how the server poured the sauce in generous amount on top of the dish like it was soup, I even used it as a dipping sauce for the Hakaw and still tasted yummy!
When I and my college friends unexpectedly met last October 2016, we decided to eat here.
We ordered a lot but can't remember the exact names of the dishes we ordered. The dishes came in small servings but dont underestimate because they had definitely filled our stomaches. Hihi.
What I enjoyed the most was their stuffed bun. The bread was very soft, moist and airy filled with a sweet treat inside. I also liked their spare rib rice topping. The meat was very juicy and tender.
A bit pricy and it was all worth their price.
I loved the food so much. I would recommend this place to everyone. :)
Comfort food. The best prawn dumpling and pork buns. You can taste real chinese food that can suit the taste buds of every filipino. Plus everything was worth the price 😍

Overall, Tim Ho Wan provides good (but nothing extraordinary) and less expensive Chinese food that is more accessible to everyone. Because there are cheaper options with the same quality but they can't be found in malls. On the other hand, the ones with better quality Chinese food in malls are quite more expensive.
A chef recommendation for the month soup Hongkong style it has shredded chicken, shitake mushroom and black fungus in a thick soup. When it came out I thought it was hot and sour soup but when me and my husband stsrted sharing it the idea was a shsrk fin soup but without the shark fin but instead uses few strand vermicelli or sotanghon. Hubby verdict not worth the money for me it's not thst bad
I've been dragging myself through the end of this Prelims week and it left me in dire need of a stress reliever. So one of the nearest malls in UST, happens to have a Tim Ho Wan branch in it. My friends and I heard a lot of good things about this restaurant that's why we're really looking forward to this. Upon entering, we were assisted by their staff quickly in our seat. I have to commend their staff for being so fast and efficient in managing their customers.
We ordered their Baked Bun, Prawn Dumpling, Egg cake and Noodle. It was hands down the best chiness food I've ever tasted. I couldn't forget my reaction on my first bite of their Baked Bun, it was a perfect blend of sweet bread and a tasty filling. Everything tasted really good. I swear we are going back here!!!! Pretty much took all our stress away. ☺️☺️
After more than a year from opening its doors for the Ermita crowd, R2e2bl & I have decided to try out Tim Ho Wan without the insane hype and long lines. We enjoyed those luscious pork buns, of course. The Michelin Star is very much deserved. We ordered 2 different noodle-based dishes which we think is not Tim Ho Wan's expertise. It's a good thing their array of condiments is amazing. The pork dumplings are a delight. We had this notion that the resto is a good choice for dinner. But it is not. Merienda would be most appropriate. We had to eat at another shop to fully satiate our empty stomachs. Anyway. Pork buns.
Had a quick snack here and same as their other branch, the taste of their food is consistently good! Affordable and quality is always there. The place is not so crowded when we went here on a weekday, servers were attentive and polite. Of course didnt forget to order our favorite baked pork buns for take out ☺
Finally got to try it and found out the hype was deserved. Good dimsum and probably the best congee I've had. We got lucky and arrrived before the queue started building up. I'll definitely be back.
Their baked buns are always to look forward for everytime we would dine here. From its crispy-crunchy sweet outside coating to its tender asado filling inside, you'll surely fall in love with the dish and even take away some home. Their chicken, sausage, and mushroom rice and spareribs rice is also very tasty and delicious. By the time the serve it, you can smell the aroma of the freshly steamed pork/chicken. They also pour their "special" sauce (which I think is light soy sauce) in front of you, adding flavor to the already mouthwatering dish. I'll never get tired going back here with my mom for our bonding moments.
Summary:
Pork buns 5/5!!
Hakaw 5/5!!
The rice meals are meh.. (Spare ribs, chicken with sausage etc.)
Baked pork buns
- If I were to recommend one order, this would be it.
- TIP: eat this freshly cooked. Had the chance to eat this “to-go” and it didn’t taste the same (even if re-heated properly).
Dimsum- no wonder they are a michelin star restaurant. soft rice wrapper, not like those flour wrappers that tend to become chewy. although the rice wrapper tends to break, the dimsum itself rarely falls apart as they do in other places. i hate it when that happens because i have to sift through the sauce to get the shrimp bits.
Prawn dumplings
- very fresh shrimps, almost creamy flavor.
- hindi malansa
- my favorite :)
Spinach with prawn dumplings
- again very partial to shrimps hahaha
- the way they prepare the spinach is not overpowering the dish
- goes well with rice
- bakit walling kalamansi sa store na to????
Tim ho ho ho we've got ourselves a gift for the nice kids this year. I've heard that a michelin star restaurant is opening nearby and who doesn't want to get their hands dirty on their food asap. I tried their best and i totally fell in love! They serve in small servings but the food are basically "street food", and the taste makes up for everything else
My bias: steamed egg cake ❤
Tim ho wan is the best! It reminds me of Leching the Chinese restaurant in greenhills, the setup and interior design in this restaurant is much better and organize.
I started to love chinese food really. 😊
Had my sunday lunch here. Ordered beef rice with fried egg, and pork buns (total bill 350pesos). Again, didn't disappoint. generous serving, can be shared by two (for me). I think almost every table ordered their famous pork buns, it was fresh, hot and tasty. ❤
Tim Ho Wan is really one of the best dimsum place in Manila. From pork buns to shrimp dumplings, everything was amazing. The only thing that I don't like was the dinnerwares were mostly plastic.
Straight-forward restaurant; tried almost everything on the menu except the rice dishes. This resto is not all about the hype, they do deliver. I'm just not into the osthmanthus dessert that they have. Pork Buns got the ooomph! Been craving and going back to this resto a few times now...
Tim Ho Wan has created quite a buzz in the Philippine food scene. I heard a lot of good things about the food but reading reviews here in Zomato had me discouraged to try it for a long time.
Then the opportunity presented itself and I was blown. It is not your typical Asian restaurant that offers you a variety of food, which I think what threw people off. But for me, the one thing that makes me return to a very good restaurant is having a handful of really exceptional food, that I always order when I'm dining there.
The pork buns is a simple yet completely balanced dish. It is light, tasty and addictive. This is their signature dish. The hakaw is sweet and fresh shrimps was used creating a succulent dumpling.
I would definitely be coming back for more.
Went here on a foodie date with my workmate, not my first time but I still enjoy coming back. This perhaps is my favorite I love the chicken mushroom specially the Chong Fan sauce that goes with it! Yum! The dimsum serving however could use a little size upgrade lol but still it's delicious. The best seller bbq pork buns are a tad bit too sweet for me though.
Still a good place for a quick meal in a busy mall.
They have the best pork buns ever! 😍 Sweet, umami taste. 💕 Truly worth the price and wait. Wasn't able to dine but badly want to come back to try Chinese food!
WHAT I'VE BEEN CRAVING FOR.
Sunday lunch!
I always enjoy eating here. Food was delivered fast and hot.
Ordered their chow mien, pork dumpling, prawn dumpling, pork bun, spareribs rice, and pan fried radish cake. You can never go wrong with their pork buns. The pork buns are incomparable with other restos; it literally melts in your mouth. The spareribs rice is just enough to satisfy your hunger. Dumpling is flavorful and affordable.
Service is great, staff are very accomodating. Overall, everything we ordered was of great quality and well worth the price! Always perfect for your chinese food cravings!
P.S You can't come to Tim Ho Wan and not try their pork buns.
Food: 5/5
Location: 5/5
Ambience: 5/5
Will recommend: DEFINITELY
I have had Tim Ho Wan take-out a couple of times, have dined once in the Glorietta branch but this was my first time to dine in their Ermita branch located inside Robinson's Manila. My family and I went there for dinner around 730pm and were able to get a seat inside after 5minutes.
Design-wise, this branch probably seats around 100 people at a time. They have some tables with couches but most of the seats are stools without backrests. They are not the most comfortable design - obviously to encourage patrons to eat fast and not stay very long. Ventilation was also a bit off during our stay, making it feel a bit bothersome due to the warmth.
Service-wise, you are to fill in the order form yourself. It is very simple as the place-mats serve as menus all organized and numbered. Your server will then come over when called and review the order. It seemed certain waiters were assigned to serve specific dishes in specific areas - actually quite organized.
Food-wise, we ordered mostly our favorites and tried one or two new things:
Fresh Seasonal Vegetable (P120)
An appetizer, this was just regular cabbage served with their signature sweet sauce that they pour from metal teapots. Our first and last time to try it.
Spinach Dumpling with Shrimp (P120/4pcs)
We got two orders of this. Absolutely delicious dim sum that my entire family loves. It goes well with the soy sauce and spicy chili paste mixed together. I love how despite being in a thin wrapper, the spinach still has a crunch when bitten.
Prawn Dumpling (P160/4pcs)
Simple, straightforward and packed with yummy shrimp.
Vermicelli Roll with Shrimp (P190/3pcs)
Served with the same signature sauce, it is a bit difficult to eat because it falls apart but delicious nonetheless.
Baked Bun with BBQ Pork (P145/3pcs)
Their very unique baked buns are always a treat. They look solid on the outside but are light and fluffy to the touch and bite. The BBQ pork filling is sweet and tasty.
Rice with Chicken, Sausage and Mushroom (P170)
Served in a deceivingly small-looking container, this requires extra special sauce to soak up every grain of packed rice that is hidden inside it's actually never-ending bowl. Also, because it is made of metal the rice remains piping hot for the longest time! The flavors go together well but can get a bit too sweet sometimes, which is why it is best to mix with dimsum dipped in soy sauce.
Spare Rib Rice (P170)
We tried this out and it was alright. A what you see is what you get kind of rice dish, also drowning in special sauce. It tasted better with soy sauce mixed in.
Cold Barley Water (P50)
I tried some of this from my mom and it was surprisingly thick for a tea - more like a shake in my opinion. It tasted pretty good though and somewhat refreshing.
Over-all, I give this particular branch a 4.5 because despite the food definitely being Michelin Star worthy as well as value for money - the service missed the mark a little bit for me. Perhaps when I come back in the future I may change my mind and up the score to a perfect 5.0.

Tim ho wan is my go to restaurant when I crave for delicious good quality steamed shrimp dumpling (hakaw).
For early dinner opted to pair my hakaw with their pork buns. Although it is still delicious the ones I had in ermita wasn't as soft as the ones I had in gorietta and megamall.
First time to order the stir fried noodles I like it cause he noodles were firm and hard, not really a fan of the soy based sauce but nothing that a little chili sauce can balance off.
Service was okey staff just needs to be more attentive the receptionist was very quick to respond to my service call though the rest were busy doing other things. It was no a busy hour since I ate around 5pm but the restaurant had more than 6-7 tables with customers.
Interiors were okey branch is well maintained.
Food was very good with a reasonable price..their pork buns are to die for very excellent. But serving size might be a little small for very hungry peeps.
When Tim Ho Wan came to the Philippines, everybody could not stop raving about their Baked Bun with BBQ Pork. I was so curious that is why it was the first thing that I ordered from their menu. I finally understood why these buns became so famous. The bun smells so good which prepared my palates for an extraordinary gastronomic treat! Believe it or not, the bun itself is already good enough. Imagine how my taste buds reacted when I finally tasted the pork filling! Its sweet and savory taste perfectly complements the bun.
Next to the pork buns, the other thing that caught my attention from their menu was the prawn dumplings! You may think that paying PHP160 for four little pieces of dumplings is a bit too much, but the size of the prawn definitely compensated for its price. I have to say that it’s one of the best I’ve ever tasted.
Their food was simply amazing and authentic! The pork buns are nit your ordinary "asadong siopao" and my favorite was the Spinach Dimsun 😊 Definitely looking forward to taste the rest of the menu. 👌🏻
This branch has good seating capacity and is rarely full. I have tried the four heavenly kings (pork bun, steamed egg, vermicelli with pork liver, and radish cake), as well as their prawn dumpling, spinach dumpling, and another vermicelli variant. What I like about their dimsum is they feel light to the tummy and serving size portions are just right for one person, albeit they are a tad bit pricier than other dimsum restaurants. I love their cold barley drink. Service is efficient.
This is on the to-do list of my friend who's here in manila..it took us an hour of deciding and walking whether to eat at Cyma or Tongyang or Contis, finally! There were a lot of people, everyone seems busy serving and cleaning the tables. We ordered Pork bun w/ bbq pork, spareribs, chicken w/ mushroom, spinach dumpling and 5 treasures. The rice meals were served on a small bowl like stainless cup, more of rice toppings, they'll ask if you want to add a "special sauce". Chinese foods have a distinct taste, on how its cooked and the spices used, it's deliciously different not the usual taste of pork and chicken.. The pork bun is like stuffed pandesal, but the bread is really soft "heaven" is the expression used by my friend. The tables were small, i thought the serving was little, like 1 cup of rice and few pieces of pork, after our meal we felt really full and sleepy, like we ate a lot. The price ranges from 130-300 per order, really affordable and differently delish.
service was good. we got 2 orders of their famous barbecue pork buns, we ate the 1st batch last night while on the road and the other, we just ate as we're watching a movie on cable. the bbq buns were really good 🐷 when you eat them as soon as served. the day after buns, even after you heat it in the oven's not that special anymore.
I've been there for first time with a friend from Taiwan, it's a good chance of eat in a restaurant with a Michelin star with not a high budget.
Under my humble opinion, I could try few dishes and I can say that the food was good the quality was good and the service been quick.
I've tested Prawn Dumpling, Rice with beef and egg, Spinach dumpling with prawn, pan fried carrot cake.
This is my second time eating at Tim Ho Wan but in a different branch. This branch is less crowded than in Glorietta. Saw almost everyone ordering Stir Fried noodles so I also tried it. My sister craved for congee so we didn't hesitate to order for it too. Ofcourse, our visit at Tim Ho Wan will never be compelete without the Pork Buns. Well, I can say that all our orders were the best merienda set to order in Tim Ho Wan.
