The best place for after party or late night dinner. The food are the best. We tried sukiyaki, i forgot the name of other ramen, gyoza and tea. I've been here many times but their good service is consistent. We got free ice cream the first time, and still got free ice cream every time we go back. A certain waitress is also jolly.

Kudos for the clean toilet. We love clean toilets~

I’ve always eaten inside the malls near this place so it was my first time here. And I’m definitely eating here again to try out the other dishes.

What I really love about restaurants - great customer service. They were really packed at that time but everyone tried their best to accommodate all incoming guests with a smile, no hint of frustration. I saw an old lady and old man accompanying the customers (guessing they’re the owner), busting out the tables, and checking out orders. What a delightful sight. The staff were all busy but they were doing the best they can.

The served affordable, authentic Japanese food. Only got to try 2 dishes but both were tasty. I believe the restaurant offers a lot of dishes and it’d be good to try all of those with friends.

They are open until around 2-3am. A place you can go to when the mall’s closed and you’re hungry.

Small Japanese restaurant with authentic ambience. Order their Kobe Beef Teppanyaki but I don’t feel anything special, either taste or presentation, for 2,400 peso menu.
Our other order kani salad, california roll and salmon cheese are okay with decent price.

This place was just recommended by a friend of mine, other than that, I have never seen nor heard of this place before. It was a good thing that I tried Isshin and it easily became one of my favorite affordable and authentic Japanese restaurant. They have a room were you can sit on the floor while eating, it makes the experience more authentic.

They do not have Spicy Tuna Salad in their menu and they asked the chef if he can make it and he obliged, and it was good (just added a few more of Togarashi).
The gyoza is plump and filling, a must order for me.
The chahan tasted authentic and similar to my long-time favorite restaurant.

Since we used to live in Sanlo way back years ago, I've been to this place couple of times already. These pictures I posting now though were during my very recent visit here.
We used to enjoy the Japanese food here. It used to be okay that's why we come back here for more. But since many Japanese restos are nowadays opening within Metro Manila, paying customers like us have a wide option to choose from. The Isshin's competitors especially those modern ones and more affordable than what they have here are what people look for these days.

I enjoyed the Tuna Salad and Salmon Sashimi during our last visit though.

We've all been spoiled by the rich, highly seasoned tonkotsu/hakata designer ramen bowls, so it might seem, in comparison, that Isshin isn't all that. They've simplified their menu and scaled down prices against their competitors. Parking is not the easiest, service not the fastest, yet there's something to say about their staying power.

I could be mistaken, but along the Pasay Road/Arnaiz st all the way up to Mile Long/Amorsolo, this may now be the Japanese resto, together with Sakura, maybe Kikufuji, and maybe Seryna. After an all-nighter lay outing and editing, friends and I would come here or to Ramen Tei nearby (it's no longer there), and get the largest bowls of ramen I'd ever seen; I believe they still serve the largest ramen bowls in town.

I like their stir-fried Yakiudon and their agedashi tofu, if I'm not after one of their bento boxes. They also serve cold buckwheat noodles with a dipping sauce (zarusoba), refreshing on a hot day. The gomokumen and corn/corn butter ramen are a decent meal, bearing in mind what one is paying.

Fond memory of this place :) many years ago, I received my first ever backpay, after which I bought my first cellphone using my own money! To celebrate, I wandered around Park Square and found this place. Also my first time to eat in a resto by myself! The staff were so nice, making sure I was served well. I ordered Katsudon and remember being blown away. I couldn’t afford authentic Japanese food before, so tasting it made me so happy 😭☺️ i remember the warmth and the juicyness and the niceness of the staff. Hoping to come back soon :)

A quick fix for Ramen cravings without spending too much. The Sake is so subtle. It matches my Tantanmen. So had to finish the entire bottle by myself and I didn’t mind. :)

Very traditional and budget friendly.

The atmosphere is just like a cusual dining in a run down street in Tokyo.

The food choices are vast and the servings are large but very affordable.

This is our go to for a japanese food fix when we are in Makati, and they are open as late as 2am. The place can get full and parking is limited.
My hubbys favorite is their tekadon and I on the other hand love their tempura udon. They also give free dessert.

Restaurant was great, but their parking area was small. It could only fit four cars. I ordered the unagi sushi because i love eel, and it was tasty and affordable compared to other restaurants because unagi can get really expensive. My sister ordered miso ramen and it was a big bowl of ramen so over all the restaurant was great!

Isshin and I go way back, I mean way back. I am talking about decades. Close to 30 years, I cant remember exactly, but surely at least 25 years. Before it was in its current location, a stone throw away from the then new, New World Hotel. Back then it had a different name and it was Shogun. Despite its rename and relocation, it always felt familiar to me. Even up till this day, some of the staff and owners call me by my first name.

This was the restaurant in which my expansion and adventure into other Japanese dishes grew. Of course, a majority of us kids have the ebi tempura as our first Japanese dish. My intro into a few things and love for them started here. From unagi, ramen, okonomiyaki, salmon sashimi, etc—my love at first bite started here.

I don’t remember when it started, but then my usual dish that I would order became the Chirashidon (special or not), with an order of salmon sashimi. I love the chirashidon, and the one at Isshin is great in size, variety and price. I really love the denbu (pink sugar thing) on top as it is a generous amount. Now I know that some of you might be wondering why order salmon sashimi, when there is such a variety of sashimi in the chirashi. Well, it doesn’t come with salmon, so I order it as I totally love salmon sashimi. It is probably my fave among all sashimis. The sushi rice in the dish is wonderful too. Fluffy and I can taste the tangy vinegar.

Other dishes that are the must try are: sukiyaki, Isshin Special ramen, gindara, unajudon, and their selection of fried rice. And when their teppanyaki section is open, it’s a great place to sit there, watch food get cooked in front of you with a group of friends, family.

Family… I remember eating out here almost everyday with my mom her work. The memories… :)

Price: 5.0 – Quite affordable. Portions are generous and mostly even good for sharing.

Ambience: 5.0 – Cozy, quaint place. Like and old fashioned Japanese place.

Service: 5.0 – The food come pretty quick. Staff is friendly. The owners, when there will even sometimes even go around and chat with customers, asking how everything is.

Isshin might not look like much as compared to the modern, new or big Japanese restaurants. I can guarantee that it’s really good and the real authentic deal. The number of Japanese customers that come should be a sign. I believe some of them come from Dusit Thani Hotel across the street. And if you want Japanese food after midnight, having cravings, Isshin is the place. They close at 3AM!

Now, I’m craving. Should I make a phone call for a pickup order?

I usually get a Gyoza and Chahan at every Japanese Resto I eat at. The Gyoza and Chahan here is not satisfactory, I keep thinking this is ready-made frozen gyoza and they don't have ready made sauce for Gyoza, the Chahan is also too sticky. The review is purely for the Gyoza and Chahan, service and ambiance were ok.

Another joint along the Arnaiz strip besides, Nihonbashitei, that one must try. I had one of those really good meals after a night of drinkin and cooking through the Teppanyaki grill makes it more appetizing. From their Australian beef, okonomiyaki, t their set meals complete with salad, miso soup and dessert , you can never go wrong and I'm looking forward to more meals here.

We were craving for some Japanese food and the Nihon branch near Dusit was still closed for renovation. This led us to this hidden gem along Pasay Road.

To be honest, the place looks a little sketchy from the outside since it doesn't have much lights but the inside was a different story. Legit Japanese interiors and the place was incredibly spacious. Good thing we didn't just the place by its cover!

We tried the following:
- Gyudon: My favorite! The serving looks small at first glance but the Japanese rice will instantly make you feel full. The beef was sweet and tender and the half-cooked egg complemented the whole dish.
- Isshin Special: It lacked flavor and the soup was not thick (which I don't like). They could add more salt and spices on this one or even marinate the meat more.
- Gyoza: Not bad for the price of P169. But Nihon's was bigger, yummier, and served in 8 big pieces. This order only got 6.
- Ebi Tempura: Nothing special but my boyfriend liked it. His exact words were, "craving satisfied!"

They've got fast service and very accommodating staff. We also got complimentary desserts, chocolate ice cream scoops that taste like Milo :p You can also opt for coffee if you're not a sweet tooth.

ISSHIN!!!! Remember when I said in my review on Izakaya Kikufuji that there is a Japanese place that is super affordable yet still good food quality? Well this is the place!

You see, we stumbled upon this place one very late night when we still didn't want to call it a night. We didn't know what to expect when we went in, in fact we were having second thought if we were to go in or not. Thankfully, the staff was already hollering her Japanese greeting "irassaimashe!" And asking for how many people would we be needing a table for, while leading us to the far end and effortlessly sat us :). It wasn't a busy night for them with a few smattering Japanese customers here and there. We played safe with our orders that night and the rest, as they say, is history.

We love ISSHIN, it has a laid back air and the staff is really friendly in an informal way. When there are certain request you ask if it's possible to be this and that? They don't tell you no, they go ask the chef or the manager if they can accommodate such request and still pay the same price, and so far they have never turned us down yet. Of course you also have to make sure that your request is reasonable and that you'll consider the direct proportion of the food you're eating to the price you're paying.

Sometimes diners in any restaurant become irritating gadflies that it's embarrassing to even listen to them tear the place and the food apart for a measly price.

Going back to ISSHIN, they serve free ice cream!!!!! Or free coffee!!!! To wash down those yummy dishes you've been wolfing down right into the bottom of your tummy :)))

My generation loves this place. It's been around since forever. I remember it was even open for 24 hours before. The after gimmick place to go and eat. Tempura is yummy and my favorite here is gyudon. Must try.
