Didn't want to cook for just myself today, so I walked on over to Tapadera. I used to frequent Frango's when it occupied this spot. Ever since Tapadera took over, this is my first time to step in. They now divided the dining area into two. First is a lounge type air-conditioned room where you could eat and watch sports or music videos on wide screen TV. The second and non-airconed portion is where the drinking groups gather or to accommodate large groups that don't have to tone down their banter. Though, I believe the lounge room could also be rented and closed for private parties.
As the name suggests, tapa is their specialty. I got the Brazilian Tapa (large) at P170, scrambled egg (P25) and garlic rice (P35). Ended up paying P184 with my senior discount.
The tapa was scrumptious and hefty for one person. It was neither salty nor sweet, but very beefy in taste. It went well with the house vinegar that was spiked well with chili, garlic, onion and peppers. The garlic rice with the scrambled egg on top was served in a bowl. I appreciated the versatility of the bowl and the ease with which I got the tapa, rice and egg combo because of the raised sides.
Their house water was delightfully cold and served with lemon slices, which not necessarily makes it alkaline, but surely makes it taste clean and refreshing.
✔️ delicious food in generous servings
✔️ friendly staff
✔️ al fresco seating
✔️ great for chill night outs
✔️ they serve bar chow!!! 🍻
Nothing but the best Filipino comfort food here. Of course, you have to try their tapa which is available in different flavors.
The Brazilian Tapa was great but not the best (as compared to the claims of others) in my opinion. Batchoy Tagalog was not good at all (bland). The place is perfect for hangouts and maintains a chill vibe. Two thumbs up for the service. Fair serving sizes at an affordable price. Not really my type of comfort food but worth coming back for. 4/5.
When it comes to real comfort food, Tapadera is definitely one for the books. We tried their "Brazilian Tapa" and it's so tasteful especially when paired with their special vinegar. Also, tinola soup was so hearty, no artificial flavoring ( I think?)
Really, really good food, and good service too. Nice place to chill as well. 😊
Too bad we don't have any photos to share. But experience was worth it.
Best tapa served so far. Forget Recovery Food, Tapa King, Sinangag Express and Rufo's tapa. Tapadera feels like home. Has 2 areas smoking and non-smoking and you'll actually see you food being prepared fresh from the kitchen. Service takes a while but quality and serving is good.
In terms of chill, neighborhood bars, it certainly passes. Food could be better for the price, but you'll forget about that once you've had the affordable drinks. Music is excellent, if you're into indiepop, and the acoustics are unexpectedly good. Sometimes a little too good: I had the misfortune once when they kept pounding at beef in the kitchen, which you can hear in the patio area (smoking allowed!). For maximum chill, try to get settled in the indoor area: airconditioned (IF it's turned on) and noise-proofed.
the wait staff are courteous and friendly, but could use better training in creating an ambient vibe. like, bring headphones when you're on break and watching a game on your phone.
all in all, i would not travel 30 minutes to get here, but if you're in the area, you could do much worse.
