My mom recommended this place. We ordered california maki, torched salmon sushi and seafood ramen. The sushis were absolutely delicious and authentic. I love their salmon!!! Seafood ramen broth was also delicious. Staffs were just okay. Price was reasonable.

This place knows how to handle sushi! Kudos!

So happy to be back at Akira in Makati. Its been a while and had a great gastronimic experience the last time I visited. This place specializes in Japanese cuisine, specifically sushi and teppanyaki. They have very attentive servers.

Its a Teppan seafood lunch! And I loved it!

🦐 Ebi Teppan (P398)
🦐Oyster Teppan (P398)
🦐Scallops Teppan (P328)
🦐Akira Rice (P158 per cup)

All seafoods are cooked to perfection. The Ebi/ Shrimps are so flavorful plus the golden brown garlic adds more flavor. Scallops and oyters are served in shells. Its so good! I can tell its fresh! Serving of akira rice is quite big, for 1 cup! But i almost finished it, so yummy. This place serves house tea, very helpful after eating. Enjoyed this place so much, definitely we’ll be back😊

It was lunch time and I was craving for Poke. I usually order poke bowls from Sushi Nori but I decided to try it from other Jap Resto. 1st thing that came up was Akira.
Tried their Poke Salmon Bowl and Tuna Sashimi.
The Poke was superb, however I wasn't expecting that the salmon would be half cooked but I liked it!
And the generous serving of Tuna Sashimi was the bomb!
Of course, let's not forget about the Wasabi. Its got the sweetness and the spicy kick ive been craving since I was puyat that time. Kept me awake and productive for the rest of the day! 💕

The place — the ambiance of the restaurant is really nice. There were a ton of paper cranes hanging around which represents good fortune and longevity in Japanese and Korean culture. It’s very unique and creative.

The food — I was with my officemates when we ate here. We had a variety of ordered foods and these are the few of which I have tried: the salmon sashimi was divine. I have been craving sashimi for the longest time and my craving was indeed satisfied. The fish was fresh and it melts in the mouth. The other appetizer we ordered was the roll. Nothing special, but the restaurant claims it is their best seller in the sushi category. It was okay and a bit pricey although, I am not a fan of it. As for my main dish, I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki with salad on the side. The dish was flavorful and juicy. I like it.

Final thought – I can recommend these to my friends who love Japanese food. There were so many options in the menu and I will definitely come back to try their other dishes.

Tried Akira for lunch. I was impressed with the ambiance of this restaurant. It was spacious and well lit. They have an open kitchen where you can watch them make your sushi and sashimi. Here's what we tried:

Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese - Love the fresh salmon and the cream cheese inside it. It was really good that I will definitely be coming back to try their other flavors.

Chasyu Ramen - It was creamy and I liked the taste of the sweet corn on the side. It tasted ok but not that I will have again in this place.

Tonkatsu - Perfectly fried tender pork. It tasted just the typical Tonkatsu.

Bento Tempura - Complete meal, really. Tempura tasted so so good and other side dishes too. I just think their Bento boxes was a bit expensive for the portion that you will get.

There are just some days that you wanna eat sushi. A LOT of sushi. Good thing we stopped by this japanese restaurant just a few minutes away from my office.

I have passed by Akira loads of times but I another restaurant from the corner always stops me from trying this place. But one time after work I just had this bad sushi craving, good thing I remembered of this restaurant.

Fancy gray interiors is the theme. They just opened for dinner service so only 3 other tables were occupied. Place was pretty spacious.

🔹Tonkotsu Ramen - Bland. Tamago was nice and soft and gooey but it's really bland.

🔹Seafood Ramen - Got even more disappointed with their ramen when I tasted my bf's bowl. they used the same kind of broth with this and the tonkotsu. It didnt have that fatty, rich taste that I was looking for in ramen broth. Definitely a miss.

🔹Akira Roll - Loved this! It had a crunch which I like in makis and it bursts of flavor when you bitw into it.

🔹Smoked Salmon and Creamcheese Roll - I didn't get much smokiness with the salmon but, I quite like this roll.

Come for the sushi, stay away from the ramen (well, in my experience at least). They have a lot more sushi selections and I can't wait to come back and get to taste more.

I like Akira. I’ve sampled their dishes at the Shang branch. Here in Makati, we tried the Grilled Salmon Bento Box (php598), Agedashi Tofu (php150+), and Chamomile Tea in a pot (php49).
Good food, nice ambiance. I requested for an all-salmon sashimi slices instead of tuna and salmon. They obliged, so that made my day.

I love the food here most especially the akira roll. It's hard to eat though since it is tall. One thing I hate here is the service. Servers are inattentive and orders are served quite slow.

Update: take out has service charge. What a turn off.

Super yummy bentos! Their serving is big so you can share. My favorite is their port tonkatsu bento it comes with miso soup, sides, rice, chicken karaage and fruit. The servers are also nice but there's the occasional fly flying around.

We ordered Mixed Sashimi and executive bentos (forgot which ones). Tad expensive but it's definitely filling and worth it for me. I also love the Cobonpue-like chairs. It may not be exactly good news for the business but I like how the place isn't always crowded.

Whenever I'm stressed from work Japanese food is usually my go to cuisine to give me some comfort and would make me think properly. So I came across this place called Akira in Alphaland Mall that is near  the BIR RDO office 47.  I was looking through the menu and looking for something really value for money and alas their bento boxes.

I opted for their Tempura bento and as expected well prepared and cooked very well.  It's little bits and pieces of a complete meal from their  miso soup,  sweeten appetizer dilis, their salmon and tuna sashimi, their salad, chicken karaage type of viand , rice and tempura it was worth the 500 pesos I paid.  That's not all there was even fruit in my viand that definitely completed my meal. I'm definitely coming back to try other viand bentos and other specialities in this place.

If you're finding it tough to stick to a healthier diet, it's really okay to do it one step at a time. Try a minimalistic approach: less seasonings and less over-processed ingredients. These are some of the things we love about Japanese food. They're like a mix of healthy and comfort rolled into one. Now let Akira in Alphaland Makati Place whet your appetite.

I have always adored teppanyaki-style restaurants and glad to learn about Akira near our workplace. Although their menu can still be more appealing (insert pictures maybe?), there are really good choices. I have tried their U.S. Tenderloin Set and it really is a must try. They offered us if we want it to be served on our table or if we prefer to transfer to a teppanyaki table for live cooking.

The best wagyu teppanyaki I've had so far in the Philippines. Trust me, I'm half Japanese. I've tried some really pricey wagyu steaks in Manila, but Akira really gave justice to the meat and their bento box is not even that expensive considering the quality and quantity. With an average of 600 pesos, you get this huge bento box with variety of dishes. If you are looking for a safe, affordable teppanyaki, this is the place to go.

Prior to visiting this place, I was viewing weird dishes online like the creepy Dancing Squid Bowl in Japan mainly because of my fascination of such exotic dishes. Akira might not have "live" sashimi there but this has to be one of the finest Japanese restaurants I've ever dined in so far!

Could you imagine that these guys have Tako (Octopus) sashimi readily available? Interesting, right? Read more to see what else I've tried at Akira!

A few days ago I dropped by Akira for some late night dinner. For those who were asking where they could find their 3rd store, it's located in Malugay St.corner Ayala Avenue Extension, Makati City. It's quite tricky to commute there, I suggest searching Alphaland Makati in Google Maps instead.

The place is very cozy, I could imagine myself unwinding here. The interior is inspired by the fall season of Japan where you could see that the orange and yellow leaves are calmly blown by the wind. While the Kawayan Too Chairs on the first photo and the red Yoda chairs on the third photo perfectly compliments the ambiance of the place. Both of which is Kenneth Cobonpue's masterpieces.

One of the hardest things I've encountered while dining here is their menu! I JUST CAN'T DECIDE! Everything on the menu sounds great. I can't believe they even have the highly-prized Kobe Beef here!
Even my friends had a hard time choosing which ones should we get.

For our appetizer, I got the Foie Gras Chawan.
I like that they had Spring Onions, Shitake and Kani inside to make it more interesting. (P348)

The other table ordered the Japanese Kani Salad. It's topped with finely shredded Nori so I'm guessing it must taste like heaven! I wish I tried this one though. (P258)

On our table, Alice ordered the Kani and Pomelo Salad. I'm not really a fan of salads but I find it great that they made it more flavorful and slightly crunchy by using fried Kani as a substitute for basic croutons. (P248)

I have a love-hate relationship with oysters. They're so damn yummy but it takes a special skill to prepare them safely. I had a series of food poisoning before since I really suck at cooking food. But with these Oyster Teppanyaki, I had no severe reactions or anything at all! These are yummy as they are creatively presented. Exceptionally soft despite being fried too. (P248)

These are my favorites for the night! Above is the Mixed Sashimi and below is Akira California Roll. I will tell you right now that you will get what you paid for. The Mixed Sashimi really really made me happy! This set includes 8 kinds of sashimi which consists of Salmon, Tuna, Hamachi, Tamago, Uni, Ebi, Kani and Tako.

The slices of the sashimi are thick. The meat is not frozen to the point of ruining its texture. And best of all, IT IS SO FRESH~! Normally, I would drown everything in soy sauce. But these one I didn't add anything to them at all. I know it's fresh because old Uni aren't as fluffy as the fresh ones. The same goes to the California Roll because you could feel the Tobiko popping inside your mouth. Such a delight!
Someone, please stop me as I've been endlessly praising these!! (P528 & P368)

Aside from their sushi, Teppanyaki dishes are one of Akira's core products. This is one their Teppanyaki sets which is the Set A - Japanese Wagyu. The following sets are served with Miso Soup and Japanese Fried Rice. All sets comes with Chicken, Prawns and Beef of choice. I believe everything in this set is so tender. The shrimps are perfectly cooked along with the savory beef. Great for those with a heavy appetite. (P1448)

We all agreed hands down that this is the kind of dessert that one doesn't easily get tired of!
This Ice Cream Parfait is on everyone's favorite list. Will it make it on your list? (P268)

If you're not a dessert person, they also have Cocktail Drinks like Japanese Zombie and Sex on the Beach.
Jessica wouldn't believe me that it was named as such. Lol. (P258~)

All in all, it was really a pleasure getting to experience one of the finest Japanese restaurants in town!
Hope to visit again soon! Thank you Akira and Ms. Lariza Garcia for having us around!

Akira in Bel-Air is in a very good location, which is accessible to commuters. We ordered miso soup, rainbow roll, Akira fried rice, chicken teriyaki, and Akira iced tea.

First thought was everything were a bit expensive. But when we got the miso soup, it turns out to be at least 2 servings. The rainbow roll looked good enough to eat. Their chicken teriyaki, in my opinion, is just good for one as opposed to what the waitress said to us. Good thing we ordered the Akira fried rice, which tasted good even when eaten on its own. I think it is good for 2-3 people. I do recommend the Akira iced tea.

Everything costed us around php1.2k. A bit pricey, but the food is worth it.

Let me start with OMG! I was awake for 26 hours from my primary job as a returns specialist in a car parts company and just went buzzing my butt off to this Japanese restaurant that I am not familiar of. I love food and I eat anything edible! But of course to put value on that, I always remind myself that it is germane to learning how a specific meal should taste like, regardless how my liking considers it, because I take judging a food seriously. As an amateur food critique, I am very particular when it comes to texture, aroma and of course the ” Taste.”

1. Let’s start with the “AKIRA Roll,” its tower shape and its nice chronology for both consistency and structure makes it out of the ordinary. It does look rather sturdy unlike most sushi are known for. The crunchy tempura bits on top which at first would perhaps give just the decorative impression. But I find it zany having the grated cheese and spicy mayo blend well with something raw like sushi. This epitomical Akira roll is daring, modern and has the proper firmness that holds well the soft kani. I was at first in thought that the crunchy top might overpower the sushi but how the flavours are arranged is perfect in my liking.

2. The “SeaFood Yakiudon” may look simple but it does not taste simple at all, it has that familiar seafood flavour that just lifted my spirit from exhaustion (I love fresh noodles!) For me it is certainly a happy Udon merged with lightly cooked veggies and dressed with seafood savory sauce..No question why it’s on the 2nd rank. Gosh I want this again!

3. Playful is the right term for this colourful delectable sushi roll named “Rainbow roll,” each piece has its own character, I find this the most platable for newbies because it represents contrasting flavours. From that “of the sea” salmon, to sweet mango, to the mild thick jello tuna, then added with that strong sesame seeds and white cheese cream on top. Fun to the eyes and fun to the taste buds.

4. Akira is well-known for the “Teppanyaki” and they have 4 sets of it, but all has mixed veggies, grilled prawns, chicken and choice of beef. I am honestly not sure what set was served to us because I couldn’t recall anymore the type of beef we ate. Unfortunately, I am not an expert yet about matsusaka, kobe or just the wagyu since I have learned they have different “beefy flavour strength.” As many meat experts say “All Kobe is wagyu but not all wagyu is Kobe,” premium wise they aren’t interchangeable. Anyway, the beef cubes were tender and there was a thinner cut I tasted that was grilled in medium rare and gosh that got me thrilled! Each individual flavours were supporting each other that resulted Akira’s delicious Teppanyaki.

5. Most bean curds or tofu are lifeless no matter how you cook it (they’re made to be tasteless,) but this gentle “Agedashi Tofu” did impress me.. It has this cute wobbly texture carefully laid on a puddle of thick sauce. The melt in the mouth factor is worth going back for. For those who are vulnerable to these soya soft blocks, you might find this a good start to appreciate it.

6. The ultimate “Seafood Ramen!” Another elemental art of cookery executed well by Akira, the incorporation of water and earth elements suffused by fire then advances to the air to soothe your senses. The noodles locked the flavours of the prawns, seaweed and vegetables so well, it is perfect during cold or rainy dinners.

7. “Smoked Salmon And Cream Cheese” and “Oyster Fry Roll” these are equally great! Fun and tasty. The oyster fry roll is again another modern twist of Akira that updated sushi to a whole another level. The smoked salmon with cream cheese just made this Japanese delicacy lustful to the appetite. The salmon just taste so summery with its distinct saltiness.

Akira, Art of Sushi and Teppanyaki is a newly opened Japanese restaurant located at the ground floor of Alphaland, Makati Place (Alphaland in buendia, not the Alphaland in Magallanes). This branch of Akira with exquisite ambiance offers guaranteed oishiiiiii~ Japanese cuisine and the over-all look of the resto is very unique yet classy. The staffs are very kind. They offer healthy dishes, recommended for health conscious people. Everything here is just in the right place I may say.

Another thing that makes Akira unique is their Teppanyaki. The teppanyaki chef will entertain you while he is cooking. You may also try and help chef in cooking which I tried, a memorable experience. .

Food we ate: Kani and Pomelo Salad, Agedashi Tofu, Pork Tonkatsu, Chicken Karaage, Akira Sushi Roll, Smoke Salmon and Cream Cheese Sushi Roll, Rainbow Sushi Roll, Oyster Fry Sushi Roll, Teppanyaki Set C - U.S. Tenderloin, Seafood Yakiudon, Seafood Ramen, and Ice Cream Parfait (all flavors).

Drinks: Akira Iced Tea, Red Wine and White Wine.

Yeoja Verdict: Unforgettable flavors that I crave every time I see the photos of the food because I remember the savory and delicious taste of each dishes I have eaten. A truly must-try restaurant in the metro!

It was my first time here and I've heard so much good things about it from metro foodies. I guess that's why I had too high expectation about the place and its food offerings.

I love their Agedashi Tofu (Php148) one of their appetizers that I think I'd surely come back for. They used extra soft tofu (my guess) battered and fried, but it was so soft inside almost like eating taho with rich seasoned flavor.

We ordered two types of sushi:  First is the Akira Roll (Php348), Kani, Softshell topped with Tempura Bits Grated Cheese, Spicy Mayo and Tobiko, a combination so perfect, with the right kind of 'spicy' you wouldn't want to share it. Hehe; second is the Blow-Torched Maki (Php309) Tuna Salmon Kani Cream Cheese Mango Miso Mayo, kinda tasted like the  ordinary California Maki, well may be because of the presence of mango and mayo. Both sushi are good for sharing.

For Sahimi, we had: Mushroom Foil Yaki (Php268) an oven-steamed mushroom in foil, sounds healthy
I am not a fan of Uni Sashimi (Php318), although it kinda taske like oyster or 'talaba' which I am a fan of, but my companions were craving for it so we ordered one, and tried it too. Still am not a fan. Hehe.

We ordered two sets of Salmon Sashimi (Php248), and it was fresh and well, as expected... it's all about the freshness.

Tempura Udon was my least favorite among those we ordered. At Php348 it was quite pricey. It was Tempura on a Noodle soup that tasted a bit blunt.

My favorite was the Chicken Teriyaki (Php288), it is broiled/grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce and lots of minced garlic. You'd definitely want to order plain rice with this.

In general, the food was okay, kinda pricey though. The service was just fine but I noticed some of the crew looked tired and inattentive.  The general ambiance of the resto was as expected for casual dining,

Akira is a newly opened Japanese restaurant located on the ground floor level of Alphaland building just behind Columns Buendia. It was just 2 weeks ago when I had lunch here together with my colleagues at work. It was actually our manager who treated us since we were on a 2-day team planning. We had kani salad, pork tonkatsu, chicken terriyaki and Japanese fried rice. I liked everything here. The tonkatsu was cooked just right, it was not greasy. Both the chicken and fried rice were tasty as well. Service was also good. Staff were attentive.
