wish they'll expand their place.
LAOBEIJING 老北京. (Formerly, Peace and Happiness Dumpling House)
I had the best first taste of Pork Leeks dumplings in this small and humble chinese snack place. It was so good that all I wanna say is that you guys should try it! (Best paired with their in-house chili oil and soy sauce). We also ordered Special Beef Noodles which at first taste like water with noodles and beef, but when you add that hint of chili and soy sauce: Voila! It works like magic. Suddenly it will taste like a really good beef broth. Not a fan of their XLB but its not too bad to try. Cheap, as it only cost Php 162 per 12 pcs of dumplings, Php 182 for the 8 pcs Xiao Long Bao and Php 188 for the Beef Noodles which is already good for sharing. The service was kinda poor but I get it. It’s cheap and a lot of people are ordering here even during wee hours. Can’t blame them.

I like that LBJ is just close to home and open 24 hours. It can get pretty crowded during the evening and you can expect waiting at least 20 mins before getting a table since their capacity is max 20 I think. Their XLB is good, I also like their beef noodles. Kudos to the helpful and approachable staff, too!

Minsan may sabaw minsan wala. VERDICT: NAKAKALOKA SA SARAP
Their xiao long bao is one of the best I've tasted. We ate it together with their fried rice (nothing goes wrong with rice) and their special beef noodle. The serving of fried rice is good for three, but I think you can eat it alone too. The restaurant is small so be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes before being seated. In my opinion, it is worth the wait though so you just have to be patient.
Place is open 24/7 and located adjacent to where i live, so it's very convenient for me. I eat here a lot and I order Pork Leeks Dumpling (₱162/12pcs) most of the time, and it never failed to comfort me! 😄
My go to place for dumplings! Love the Kutchay Dumpling and Guotie. Their noodles are also good. Great price for the serving size. I always have this delivered every time I crave for it, and because the dining area is small. Be ready to wait it you come here during peak hours.
Best place for dimsum in this part of Makati! Love the xiao long bao and petchay/kutchay dumpling. Servings are huge and price is pretty affordable too.

The food is really great. A must try. But if you are willing to wait in line.
The best xiao long bao I’ve ever tasted (here in the PH)! Plus it’s very budget-friendly! Their other offerings are very good as well - noodles and pork bread! The space is quite small though so you need to wait for the queue as the tables get full fast.
Always my go to place when I want some quick and cheap Chinese food.
Me and my workmates always come here whenever we need a quick chinese food fix. Despite the space being small we always try to eat here because the noodles are best eated hot. Out food staples would be the noodels, kuchay and xiao long bao.
The xiao long bao is not the best in the metro but for its price, I would consider it really worth it. One downside though is that most of the time their xiao long bao would break, so the soup leaks out. You really have to be careful.
Our favorite is always the kuchay. The wrapper is kinda thick but for some reason it works well with the filling. You get 12 pieces for a fair price.
As for the noodles, when we first ordered it, we actually complained since the broth was super tastless. We were told that we need to mix the soup from the very bottom as the spices were concentated down there. We did as instructed and wow the taste super duper improved! I always tend to order the one with pork as I love how they cook it.
If you like some cheap Chinese food around Makati, go and find this place.
Our favorite go to place when we're hungry! We go here at least once a week ever since we started living in Cityland.
Just be sure not to go here when you're super hungry cos the place is always jam-packed and you will really have to wait.
Our Favorites:
Kutchay Pork Dumpling (Ultimate favorite!!!)

The dumplings in this place is really delicious. You should really try their Kuchay and Pork leeks. If you have an option to take out, please do. The place is small and is always full that you’d end up waiting outside (even for a take out). But if you do have a chance to dine in, do try to order their xiao long bao. 👍🏻

This is my ultimate go-to restaurant when I'm craving for Chinese food. You must try their best seller - XIAO LONG BAO. If you're not much into the ambiance and you just need to fill up your tummy with almost authentic Chinese food, this is the perfect place especially if you don't have enough time to go to Binondo (China Town). I'm not into trendy/fancy restaurants these days, all I really care about is satisfying my cravings.
If you love dimsum, you should also try their baozi, shrimp-pork dumpling, pork-kutchay dumpling and yes, they do have vegetarian dumplings too!
It took me a year after I finally dined here cos this is just near our place and I always thought that I can just easily visit here whenever I can (even late nights) as I noticed the place is almost always packed as they have just a nice small space.
So when I finally got the chance I had feast with my friends lol. We ordered Beef Noodle in Chili Oil, Pork Rib Noodle, Chicken Gizzard, Shaomai, Pork and Shrimp Dumplings and Xiao Long Bao. First off their noodles, they all tastes good. Pork Rib Noodle had a nice clean broth with generous amount of pork ribs. Beef Noodle in Chili Oil, on the otherhand, is a fire cos it’s really spicy that I almost cry lol. I really like spicy stuff but his noodle reached my limit. Chicken Gizzard was tasty and nice. I enjoyed munching it. Now, the dumplings. For Shaomai, they got a large one. But it was a bit dry for me. Pork and Shrimp dumpling is good. Generous amount of pork and shrimp is in the nice pack of dumpling, yummers! But the real winner is their Xiao Long Bao. I swear theirs was my fave so far and it’s nice to know that I am nearby this store and can easily satisfy mg XLB fix ❤️
This one stop place of peace and happiness is one of my sanctuaries. The place is not spacious but packed with flavorful menu. Xiao Long Bao and Kutchay dumplings are my favorite. I have brought along friends and introduced them to the place and boy have they grown fond of the food as well. Value for money is five stars! You can never go wrong with this restaurant!! 😊 👍🏼
Since I started living in Makati, I have been visiting this place at least once a week. As in literally once a week! The place can only accommodate a few customers at a time but I am willing to wait every single time.
My go-to meals will always be their soup dumplings (which go well with their soy sauce-vinegar sauce) and beef noodle in chili oil.
The Dumplings taste good, the place is clean, open 24/7 and the staff is efficient. Service water available on self service. Perfect for me for breakfast or after a night out
i love their xiao long bao. i love this place even when they were stilm called peace and happiness. on our last visit though their xiao long bao were a bit on the dry side. the pancake was on the bland side though.
My friends and I just got back from a 7-day trip in Taiwan. And since we really can't get enough of everything Taiwan especially Xiao Long Bao, we headed immediately to this cutesy Diner.
The atmosphere was okay and there were a lot of chinese people eating here. I therefore can say that, the locals love to eat here–means Lao Beijing is 'authentic' per se.
The ventilation and sanitation were okay(?). Service was good. We didn't really bother finger-pointing at other things.
So here goes the real deal––Xiao Long Bao!!! They were great! The price difference of XLBs here in the Philippines are quite pricey compared to the ones in Taiwan, probably 10 pesos more expensive? But the look and feel, and taste of it plus the authenticity is unquestionable!!!
I also tried their beef noodles, I kinda liked it. The broth wowed the noodles and the beef complemented each sip.
Hope they expand in the future, move in to a proximity that caters more people (and chinese locals!). I'll recommend it to my friends! Thanks, Lao Beijing!
Had a craving for dumplings and this place hit the spot. Very affordable. Ordered
1. Original xialongbao- 3/5
2.Shrimp & pork dumpling - 3.5/5
3. Leak & pork dumpling - 3/5
4. Koi’s him chicken noodle - 3/5
5. Pan fried dumpling - 2.5/5
1. Original XiaoLongBao: its broth was subtle but the wrapping was on he thick side.
2.Shrimp & pork dumpling: Filling was flavorful with a nice chunk of shrimp inside
3. Leak & Pork dumpling: Barely tasted the leaks, the pork flavor was more dominant.
4. Koushui chicken noodle: The noodles in this dish is cold ( so don’t expect it to be hot). It didn’t wow me, very strong with black vinegar and the Chicken was flavorless.
5. Flavor was same as regular dumplings and wrapper is to thick. Not my favorite
Place if small and pact so expect to be waiting for a table. The food is very affordable compared to most dumpling Restos. I’d recommend the dumplings if you come here. They are open 24/7 and do delivery but with a minimum order of 500 pesos.
if you're looking for a quick chinese fix, then this is your go to place for me, if you're in makati area of course! :) .. They're dumplings are great. i have tried, kutchay and wonton soup , For me the soup was light and sweet great if you're feeling cold, Staff are saying that their best seller was the Chili Beef noodle soup and i have seen most of the chinese customers order those noodles, One set bacj is the space and ventilation its a bit small though well i guess most of the orders are pick up or delivery so probably that is one of the main reason why they have small space, Will definitely come back.
I love their Xiao long bao! Very affordable taste so good 😁. They are open 24hours. unfortunately i dont like beef noodle with chili oil taste so different. But
The best xia long bao in town! I'm always a fan! Try their beef chili and white chicken for an extra taste of awesomeness! Bestbpaired withbthe traditional herbal tea in can and you're done!
The best ever noodle house for me as in no sawa 😅 i tried many expensive chinese resto there in makati like lsq, Aberdeen, Fuyuan etc. Lahat sila nakakaumay pag paulit-ulit, unlike Lao Beijing, kahit everyday pa 😂 only problem I see here is the lack of tables and chairs so expect long waiting. But you can just deliver or take out.
need to improve staffs hospitality and attentiveness.
Noodles meat are too salty.

Ex-Peace and Happiness Dumpling House. They are my comfort food after drinking at B-SIDE or wherever my friends take me. Beef Noodle in Chili Oil, Xiao Long Bao, and Pork Shrimp Dumpling are my go to favorites. They do have beer available. The place is packed always even at 3 AM. Staff is always cool and can accommodate the foreigners well. They are located near the PNR Gil Puyat so you won't miss this awesome place.
💕Date for Two: Xiao Long Bao – P158, Beef Noodle in Chili Oil – P168, Jiangrou Mian Noodle – P158

Overall: Craving chinese food yet have no plans on going to Binondo? Lao Beijing might be one of the options for you. They have the most affordable yet super delish XLBs and noodles, less the oils and the msgs as compared to other Chinese restos. Place is very small tho, can only house 16 people so better be there on non-peak hours. Everything we ordered is just beyond perfect so this deserves 5 hearts. Though this time, have to give it one heart less as they need to improve a lot on the service. One of us kindly asked where’s the sauce of the XLB (since we’re used to Din Tai Fung and Shi Lin giving a separate dish for sauce, usually with ginger strips) and was rudely answered by their staff making us feel so stupid (since the sauce is just beside us – together with the soy sauce, toothpicks etc). Boooo 👎, should’ve responded a bit kindly since she was asked nicely. That aside, we still went home with full and happy tummies! Haha! And for the food, we’ll definitely be back. 🐷🐷😂
Value for money: Again, for the food, major major worth it!! 😉

A nice place to get affordable and healthy chinese food. Many chinese food in the market are over oily, over salty and over msg but lao beijing has stuck with their plan to give simpler chinese food with less of the unhealthy.
The best dimsums at very affordable price with big servings. Our favorites : guotiie, xiao long bao and beef noodles in chilli oil 😊 This is our go to place for 24 hour food cravings. 😊
The only cons is the poor customer service.
My friend and I were craving for something chinese, so we looked up on authentic chinese places and we saw Laobeijing, which was Peace and Happiness Dimpling house back then. We ordered the beef noodle in Chili Oil, Pechay dumplings, and the xiao long bao. All of them are very good!! Best dipped in the chili they will give you once you're seated. Xiao Long Bao's wrapper is thicker than usual so it's pretty difficult if not impossible to nibble the top. The Beef Noodle's spice is decent enough to give it a kick, and not too spicy that you'll gag. 🙂
The only thing that I didn't like was the iced milk tea. It doesn't taste anything similar to an authentic naicha. Ive have cheaper milk tea with better flavor.
The place is small, it can only fit maybe 16 people or less. And it gets pretty hot inside, but not uncomfy.
Overall, a good affordable place to go to when you're craving for some chinese food and if you have zero intentions to go to binondo 😝
Kutchay Dumpling and Xiao Long Bao is delish... thats it. K.
Food: My family frequently eats their bestseller Kutchay Dumplings (P125). Its dumpling wrapper may be a little thicker than the famous Dong Bei dumplings, more meat in ratio than LSQ Cuisine. Lao Beijing's Xiao Long Bao (P148) has also a bit thicker dumpling wrapper and lacks soup, but its Shaomai (siomai) (P135) is just pork, nothing special.
Tofu Soup (P118) tasted clean, yet I think it is too pricey for a very simple dish. For noodle lovers, go for their Beef Noodle in Chili Oil (P158) and Special Beef Noodle (nonspicy) (P148), clean taste, springy noodles, tasty beef, spicy but not to the point of coughing level spiciness.
Not interested with their rice meals, because this place is intended for dumplings. Wish they will offer milk tea and other sauces for xiao long bao though.
Servings: As a fourth-timer eater here, hahahaha sorry I did not count how many dumplings each order has. I normally dunk it with their awesome black vinegar and forget the world. But it ranges from 10-15 (I am not sure how many pieces ok). Beef noodles are big enough to fill you.
Location: This small dumpling shop never ran out of customers, locals or foreigners. Located at the condo along the Buendia, Chinese eating here is a good sign and despite four-seater black tables that can be divided to two diners, this dumpling gem can accommodate people.
Service: After order, a staff automatically places a small plate, and a cute chili oil per person. Servers are ok, sometimes grumpy, sometimes happy. Hmm food comes at right time.
Price: Affordable to satisfy your dumpling and noodle cravings, it is best to come here with a family, friends of four. A budget of 700 can go for four people (well unless you want to have a dumpling party). Not the best dumpling among the metro, but I wouldn't mind eating all over again here.
Will I come back again? Yes. This is a good alternative for kutchay dumpling craving in Makati if I'm lazy to go to Binondo.
Nice 24/7 operation. You will see that even at 2am, it may be difficult to get a table here (there are only 4-5 tables for 4 available). Their spareribs on rice was quite nice, but too little of the pork served (mostly bones) which makes this dish quite expensive. The xiao long bao was quite alright, but not "up there" on my list. Nonetheless, an excellent value at only P148 for 8 pcs. Their beef noodle soup (non-spicy) was quite good. Their rice noodles weren't of the usual rice noodle texture (like the Vietnamese or Thai version) which we likes. I felt that there must be a bit of egg thrown into the the mixture. The included beef was very tender. I will try their hot & sour version next time.
I love their dumplings!!! Especially the Pechay dumpling! I also like their meatballs casserole and gan ban Mian. The only thing I don't like about the resto is their place is too small. 😭
Xiao Long Bao is simply superb! Will try their different noodle soups soon! Was a little disappointed with the special beef noodle soup not a fan of the broth.
Delicious xiao long bao! :) must try!
Though they changed their name, Peace and Happiness to something chinese (I can't remember the name :p).. But you can easily locate their store. :)
---
Second time to try!!! Went here for dinner, around 8:30pm and the place was full. So we already ordered in advance so that when we get inside, the food would be served right away. We're so happy about our xiao long bao of course! Hihi. :) the noodles were not really a hit, you must add soy sauce since it lacks taste hehe. The kuchay dumplings were good too!!
The food is 4/5 but the place is a 2/5. They seem to serve close to authentic Chinese cuisine. They need to change location i guess as currently they have a small space and not ideal for group lunches/dinners. And oh! It's a 24-hour resto, so perfect for Mid and Night-shifters! Their Xiao Long Bao is a must-try.
A hidden gem. The xiao long bao is as good as the hype says (really similar to what I had in Singapore). The meat is soft and the soup inside was packed with flavor. Also got the rice with jiangrou and it blew my expectations to pieces. The pork was so tender and even the fatty part was delicious. The portion was quite small, but quality more than compensates. Excellent prices for excellent food.
Big menu, so definitely going back to try new dishes. Plus, a Chinese place in the PH where majority of the customers were actually Chinese people? I can take a hint. 😉
Went to this place just to check it out since it's near my house. Ordered their Xia Long Bao to share with my mom since I heard it was great and was even featured spot.ph! It was good and relatively cheaper compared to other xia long baos in other restaurants, great for a merienda for 2! It's kind of a dine and go restaurant since the place is small. The waitresses are nice though! I think the store's open for 24 hours so swing by if you suddenly have a xia long bao craving at 3 in the morning and you're around the area!
Went all the way here for Xiao long bao with my colleges. It's pretty good and affordable.
Rated this one 4.5 because of convenience. I live nearby, and they open late, and when i am hungry, i just give them a call, have my food ready. I will just give them a call that i am waiting in the car outside and give me my food, i then pay and leave with my freshly cooked xiao long bao and hot spicy beef noodle soup. Solve! Taste wise, not so bad with their price. :)
The first time I dine here, it was awesome. I ordered Sweet & Sour Spareribs and their famous Xiao Long Bao to share with my friend.
The location was great since it was easy to find, at the Ground Floor of Cityland along Mayapis Street. The restaurant is deceiving because it is quite small and you won't expect that they'll serve delicious Chinese food under reasonable prices. Pretty much how Big Bowl Noodles Restaurant is also deceiving along Binondo St.
The Sweet & Sour Pork is different than any other because it tastes tasty sweet and you won't actually tastes any sourness on it. Their rice is cooked just right and goes well with the complimentary soup. The Xiao Long Bao, is a totally different experience! Xiao Long Bao are dumplings with soup inside. The bland taste of it's wrapper goes well with the delicious meat and soup inside. You can eat it alone or with rice & soy sauce on the side. It costs Php @128 for a set of 8 pieces. Pretty much worth it huh?
God, this place is a blessing! If you happen to pass by makati executive tower 3 where this restaurant is located, you wouldn't notice it because unlike other food chains, it doesn't have the ambience that will catch your attention. I really did not have an idea about this resto not until I tasted their food. Their chinese food is legit! It was really good especially the xiao long bao. Their food is very affordable and quite huge servings compared to other chinese resto. Why take time to go to Binondo and eat chinese food when you can just find it in Makati?
I found this restaurant last year, and ever since then, it has always been my go-to chinese resto. Authentic and cheap, their special beef noodles and xiao long bao are my favorite, definitely a must try if you're a first timer. Wasn't really satisfied with the spareribs rice meal I've ordered, the flavor did not please me. The staff; approachable, the restaurant itself; air conditioned but when there are too many customers, it can be pretty hot.
After a tiring day, there's nothing better than to slurp a bowl of tasty Chinese noodles and dimsum that won't burn a hole in your wallet. Peace and Happiness is a good restaurant to deliver you just that.
We got the Beef Noodle in Chili Oil, Xiao Long Bao, and the Kutchay Dumpling.
The Beef Noodle is really tasty, but it wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be. Nevertheless, it was still satisfying.
The XLB is sooo good. Despite its slightly thick wrapper, the meat and soup inside is generous and really yummy.
The Kutchay Dumpling was good too, but not as good as Mien San's (my favorite place for dumplings!).
The food here will really give you a peaceful mind and a happy tummy.?
Thank you to Peace and Happiness for being open 24 hours as my friend had a place to celebrate her birthday..nthe only disappointment we had was the noodles that tastes like plastic..(or maybe I'm not used to eat that kind of food)
the place is too small.. i hope they will expand.. for them to share the true Peace and Happiness feelings..

It's one of my most favorite hole in the wall chinese restaurants. Their Xiao Long Bao is the best. The price is a sure deal as to the food quality. Try their Xiaomai too. Those two dumplings are very filling which are good for two. We always drop by here after office hours. However, since their place is a bit compact, you will have to wait for at least 15 to 30 minutes to be seated. Their AC system is not working so it's too hot inside. I am sweating a lot while savouring my soup and eating my dumplings. The staffs are lousy and not attentive.
This early morning, even before other restos were open, I opted to call and have food delivered by these guys. The lady who got my call was helpful enough to guide me to order and meet the required 500 worth of food to make delivery possible. Well, she asked for help at least twice, but that was fine. As promised, the delivery guy was at my doorstep in nearly one hour. Now, the food. I asked for Xiao long bao, some beef rice meals, some chicken with dry noodle and cucumber, and some pork and noodle soup. All had authentic Chinese sounding names so I really couldn't remember. But...they were all good! Everything was packed well, and didn't give me the feeling that they just packed things up inside microwave-safe containers. Prices were simply superb since servings were filling! Xiao long bao was way less expensive than what I got at the Chinese resto at The Podium but it was more filling and tastes great! Will I consider getting food from these guys again? Definitely!
If you're looking for some cheap Chinese food, then this is the place for you. Their dumplings are definitely worth buying more than anything else on the menu. Try out their xiao long bao and the pork dumplings. Great food, reasonably priced.
They are selling one of the best xiao long bao in Metro Manila. Only P138 for 8 pcs. Their mantao and huajuan are always warm and fresh, perfect noodle companions. Only P38 each. The place is small and togo/takeout is better option unless you're ok with it.
I like their xiaolongbao. Extra points for being a few steps away from my place. Lots of people go here; it's almost always impossible to get a table during dinner time. Must be the good food and affordable price. ;)
Update: Tried their Pechay Pork Dumpling and it was a steal for P118 pesos! It was delicious. :)
Super, super worth it! Really good food at such an affordable price.
Next to the great value for money, I love that Peace and Happiness is just in Makati! How many restos in the area are 'authentic' AND affordable?
Xiao Long Bao!!!
Delicious steamed dough with ground pork inside. Yummmmm!!! And at 8 pieces for only 128 pesos --- truly a value for money!!!
Also tried their Spareribs rice meal and I didn't mind that it was more ribs than the spare meat. It was sweet! Yummm again! Only 128 as well. Served with rice and mixed veggies.
The unusual location of this shop makes it a hole-in-a-wall restaurant. An officemate and I frequent this place because of the comfort-in-the-rain vibe it exudes - mainly because of the shop's noodles and dumplings menu. The Xiao Long Bao was good and very filling. An average hungry guy can be satisfied with the 8 piece serving. The Kuchay Dumpling and Pork and Shrimp Dumplings offers the same story, however the Kuchay comes in as a 12 piece serving. Generous, if you ask me. We always order the Beef Noodle Chili Oil to partner it with our dumplings. Had a bad day? Visit the shop. I'll guarantee you'll leave the place with a smile. #thecitymouse
We went here at 3am to sober up after drinking at cafe ysabel. This place has one of the nicest xiao long bao i've tasted. And the spicy bolognese noodles were good too. Price is very affordable. The food smells and taste chinese talaga even the place haha.
You must try this place. They serve the best xiao long bao in town at $3 for 8pcs. You will realize how Shi Lin or Lugang cafe overcharges with their XLB. :)
They also served great noodle soup dishes, where the broth is lightly salted and not oily. Must try: Beef noodle in chili oil and Curry noodle soup. Dimsums are fresh and their chili oil is home made.
There is no parking available and tables are limited, can get crowded at times. Good thing is they are open 24/7, and did I mention their prices are amazingly low? :)
I'd have to agree with the previous reviews. This was my favorite Chinese take-out place when I used to live in the neighborhood. Prices are very reasonable and the dishes taste authentic considering their dim sum ranges from 90-150/order. The servings are pretty good, too. Try the Kuchay Dumpling, Xiao Long Bao and Beef Noodles with Chili Oil.
We read about this place in Looloo. It had high ratings for its XiaoLongBao, among others. When my wife and I happened to be nearby, we looked for it but we forgot the name of the restaurant. We only knew we were in the right place after noticing a lot of young Chinese expats coming in and either dining or taking out orders; and, after we sampled the delicious dim sum specialty. I will definitely go back whenever I get the craving.
Good luck trying to find parking, though. Cityland doesn't have any public parking so you will have to take your chance along the side streets.
