The food in Kenshin Japanese Izakaya Restaurant is worth the money! The serving is just the right amount for one person and the broth is totally delicious. It's a place you'll definitely go back to.

However, due to few number of seats, customers may wait a little longer before being seated.

The Kenshin I've been to is near iAcademy, my college, and it's not in Zomato but I go there during long breaks just to order my favorite salmon sashimi. We've also tried cooking our own takoyaki which is really fun. The sashimi boat is also a good choice if you want a variety of sashimi. Their ramen is not very good because I've had better.

Went here due to a nearby convention I attended. Ordered DIY Takoyaki and Salmondon.

DIY Takoyaki was good. The crew was helpful in the process. It was fun making your own takoyaki.

The salmondon was something I definitely want to try again. I called it deconstructed sushi because the rice is the same with the sushi rice and it is topped with slices of salmon.

Get their Ebi fry!!!!!! It's amazing!!! I love this place better than Izakaya Kikufuji. I love the ambiance as well. It's a nice pace of change for ever poorly maintained Japanese restaurant in Makati (which is 90% of them)

Kenshin

We were looking for a place to eat near the hotel that we were staying. We were both craving for Japanese food but it's already 11 pm and most of the restaurants were already closed. Luckily, I was able to locate this hidden gem.

Place- The place was spacious and well lit, it could fit more than 30 pax based on my estimate.

Food- The food was great! I really liked their gyoza. One order of ramen can be shared ny 2 people. Their prices are relatively cheaper than other japanese restaurant. They could improve the maki that comes with the ramen, the rice is a bit dry. The ramen ia comparable with the known Japaneses restaurants yet priced reasonable. The tempura is of the right size and the batter or coating isn't thick and not greasy which I really liked.

Servinf time We waited for around 10 to 15 minutes for the food to be served. The crews were attentive to our needs.

The restaurant can seat around 40-50 guests and is usually full house. They offer this make-your-own Takoyaki- staff will assist you on how to do it. I didn't enjoy much of the taste of the Takoyaki, but the Sushi rolls & Tantan Ramen both passed for me. Will try their sashimi and sake next time! πŸ˜„

This hidden japanese restaurant is quite surprisingly getting a lot of traffic. its gets busy and gets crowded. theyre known for the make-your-own-takoyaki dish where you get to try to make it. Dont worry coz they will assist you. this was a nice experience however, i didnt really like the takoyaki we made. they also have an extensive menu that i want to go back and try.

Kenshin is a great with its make-your-own takoyaki. You get to pick what ingredients goes in your takoyaki. And making those "ball' is so much fun expecially if you have some chef friends making it for you.

Other dishes that I would recommend ...

Niku Salad - light and refreshing shredded cabbage salad.

Tempura Curry Udon - the noddles are really good and you can't get enough of the curry soup.

Karaage - get the SHARE serving especially when you are having beer.

Get the Beer-all-you-can!

Food - 4
Place and Crew - 4
Value for money - 3

This place offers Japanese foods and they are quite pricey.

I tried the ramen here and it was not so bad. Like in most ramen shops, the serving may be too big for a single person.

The place was clean and it has a nice interior. I liked the atmosphere of the place because it's quite chill. The crew were quite attentive and overall service was not slow. The only service that was slow for me was the bill out process which was okay because I already enjoyed my meal.

Definetely a must try! Awesome food. Excellent service. One of my favorites

Kenshin is my β€œgo to restaurant”. It’s near our condo and i love japanese food.

I usually order their Gyudon and Karaage don. I also love their drinks- i recommend the starwberry and the chocolate. Per person you’ll spend around P300+

Try also their sashimi and takoyaki.

5 stars for the food, price and service.

Cleanliness - *beeeeeppp*

This place is one of my mom-daughter stumbled upon places while in traffic. I like their food so much I've brought my son as well for a 2nd try.

Ambiance is ok but they have no acoustics so you can hear the chatter from 3 tables away. Service is a hit or miss. When we 1st went there there were few customers and my demanding mom gave them the mom stare down so we got really good service. But 2nd time around, all I can say is *eww* &man, you gotta hire more wait staff! Water was dirty even before I got to drink it. :(

Now for the food! Food prices is reasonable for the servings. In fact their takoyaki is the best bang for your buck order. At 24 pcs for less than 200 its wonderful!

Now if only they can improve on their cleanliness and service quality they'd be 5 stars for sure.

Food: good
Staff: n/a (ordered take-out)
Price: bit higher compared to others

Bought Katsudon, really good taste and serving but the issue is the breading was too thick and the actual pork underneath is actually small. E.g. if the pork was 5 inches wide, expect around 7-8 inches wide breading that sits on top of the pork which is unfortunate since it tastes good.

Will return here to try other items soon.

We went to @kenshin_ph because we were craving for Japanese cuisine and it's also the nearest in our place, have to say that it really satisfied our cravings! The food is authentic and really affordable for their servings as well. My favorite here would be the curry, it's so delicious that I tried dipping every food we ordered in it. We also tried the Onigiri which we are not really aware of but seriously taste good and authentic.

Though we didn't try their make your own Takoyaki which they are famous for but we are definitely coming back for more! Looking forward to try their Maki, Sushi, and Sashimi on our next visit.

My first visit was dinner time and the restaurant had pretty bright lighting and some walls decorated with sakura. A television is placed above the entrance doorway. What I didn't like was the extremely weak aircon, but seeing many customers, they didn't seem to mind.

Katsudon's taste was fair and they gave a generous serving. Some pieces of fat were apparent and tempting enough to eat for extra flavor. Rice was a lot!

My youngest sister tagged me on a Facebook post about this Food joint. It offers a create your own takoyaki. I got interested and of course we love to eat, so we went there.

The place has this japanese vibe, the ceiling is high to create a more spacious feel. The waitress wears kimono and greets in Japanese, they're very accommodating and helpful.

Okay now, the food:

Crazy Kani Roll: it tastes good for the price. This is a good starter food to order.

Karaage Solo: the chicken is fried to perfection, the star for us was the dipping sauce.

Ebi Tempura: Hindi ka lugi, cause its not covered in batter and you can see the shrimp goodness. Unlike other ebi tempura's they are heavily covered in batter and once you bite. Its batter chunks.

Make your Own Takoyaki: priced at 299, you can make a total of 16pcs of takoyaki. You'll also have the basic goodies to put inside: octopus, ginger, carrots, crunch, spring onions. After creating your takoyaki, topped with bonito flakes and green dried seaweed (Aonori). The best part of ALL was the UNLIMITED Japanese Mayo and Takoyaki Sauce (brown). For a 299 experience, its surprisingly good and hindi ka lugi. We enjoyed it. πŸ˜„

Also don't forget to post on your social media accounts and include #kenshinph. Show this to the staff and you'll get either Coffee Jelly with Ice-cream or Passion Red Tea. We went to Coffee Jelly with Ice-cream and its good for a freebie!

Will definitely comeback here, our experience was awesome.

Great food at an affordable price, quality service, and warm ambiance.

The menu provides many options though it's not as extensive as what other Japanese restaurants offer. In the end, we ordered a tonkotsu ramen, a Kenshin miso ramen, a serving of gyoza (6 pieces), and a serving of otsumami chashu (4 pieces of pork slices and 2 egg slices) since we like extra toppings for our ramen (and it can be a good appetizer too!). The staff members were very friendly and accommodating. Once we placed our orders, they served us hot tea and our food arrived shortly after.

The ramen had thick soups and firm noodles, while the pork slices were a bit thin but tender. Also, I appreciated that the eggs were quite on the bland side since it balanced out the tastiness of the ramen. As for the pan-fried gyoza, it's definitely worth the money. The wrappings are not flimsy and the meat inside each piece is thick and seasoned just enough.

We ended the meal with coffee jelly and ice cream for dessert, which we got for free as rewards when we posted photos of our dinner on social media. We paid P910.64 for two all in all (bill includes service charge). Really sulit!

In summary, this Japanese resto is perfect for those who are craving a ramen fix in the middle of the night (it's open until 3 AM). While it's location is not really somewhere you'd immediately spot off the bat while you're driving around Makati's more populated areas, it's certainly worth going to and you'd get a good deal for your money with their generous servings of tasty food.

Ok... I have to admit that my friends and I only really go here to get liiiiiiit 🍻🍻🍸 as they have a drink-all-you-can promo that starts at 10PM and ends at 3AM.

The food is just fine, a nice way to grease up for the drinks that you'll down later in the evening. Making your own takoyaki is entertaining!

Now, on to the unli drinks... You can choose from local beers, and they will serve it to you a liter at a time (literally in H U G E mugs). You can also choose from fruity cocktails (its called chuhai). Trust me, it's definitely worth it. Walang uuwing walang tama! Hehe

There are a lot of good Japanese restos in Makati but for those that stay open until 3am, this beats them all, including those ones located along Pasay Road. I have tried many of their dishes and have tried some that I have never seen in others' menus (such as the cheese with gyoza wrapper) and likewise, enjoyed them as well.

I was never a huge fan of Japanese curry but in this place, my favorite dish is their beef curry! This is the only place I would order that from. This dish is highly-recommended, in my book. Their chicken teppan, raw items, ebi tempura meal set are also all good for the money. But I did not enjoy their spicy miso ramen nor their gyoza which was plump with too much pork. But hey, one could get a full meal here for thereabouts P200 only. And that, in any way you look at it, is a winner, esp considering this is Japanese food. Servings are quite generous and service is great.

We had a late lunch here today (Labor day). The menu could use an update since the prices have gone up and they have sushi now (see photos).

I had the Bara Chirashi Don. I didn't enjoy the cubed sashimi since it was like getting minute flavors per bite. Maybe I will like it better if the fish were cubed a little bigger. The vinegared rice was good on its own. It didn't look much but the bowl left me full and satisfied.

My companions had Buta Shoga Yaki Set, Katsu Curry Rice, and Chicken Karaage Set. We all liked it here since the price is mostly cheaper than most Japanese restaurants. I look forward to dining here again soon!

5/12/17: I had Crazy Kani Roll for P189. It was very creamy inside, complementing the crunchy toppings. Good experience as usual.

Cravings satisfied. I was dreaming about ramen the night before and yes, here we go for lunch at Kenshin. I couldn't tag the Las PiΓ±as branch because I think it just recently had its soft opening so it's not yet on Zomato. I like the ambiance of the the restaurant though it's not that spacious, I appreciate that it is not crowded. The staff are all female and they are wearing Kimonos. The waitress assigned in our table is somewhat lost, I don't know why but I think she is a newbie. There's still a room for improvement when it comes to their service, good thing that they serve good food. I haven't been to Japan yet so I can't say that they serve the authentic ones. I really love their ramen and karaage!

Don't mistake this place to be as a passing fancy mainly because of the places that surround it. When you enter it, you'd get that nice ambiance and the kind of vibe that screams authentic. Their prices may be a bit steep but if Japanese is what you're craving for, then you should definitely give this place a go. The taste of their food complements their presentation. Sat. 3PM. There were only 2 tables occupied when I walked in. Eating at off hours is my thing. I don't want to join the lunch (or dinner) rush. I want a steady, unrushed dining experience and an attentive staff.

I knew what I wanted right away. It was too hot out for Ramen so Karaage Bento it is. My bento set had 6 moist, perfectly marinated chunks of Chicken Karaage over a bed of shredded cabbage and a lemon slice, a bowl of miso soup, a bowl of rice, roasted sesame tuna side salad, and some fruit cocktail. I got a Mango shake and Coffee Jelly for dessert. Can't go wrong with these safe, nicely rounded, great tasting choices.

So far so good. I would have loved to try the "make your own Takoyaki" for the experience but that experience would be best shared with friends or family. I'm also looking forward to trying the Sukiyaki and the Sashimi. That would be a food battle for next time. I'll be back!

Updated: Was back the following day (well, night) with some friends. We got the sushi platter, and a big plate of karaage (again!). Also, there's an all-you-can-drink promo for 299 from 10pm to 3am. You can get your drink in a litre mug that looks like a mini aquarium. Lifting it will give you a fun mini workout.
I'm starting to love it here.

Being such big fans of Japanese cuisine, we got to try out a huge number of Japanese restaurants, ranging from the cheapest ones all the way up to some of the expensive ones. We even had the chance to try out the real deal when we went to Japan last year. Though I'm glad that Filipinos had a lot of choices, it's also suffering from identity crisis, with some of the restaurants offering more or less the same kind of food. I was really happy when my bestfriend invited me on her birthday, because we were about to try out a Kenshin. I wasn't happy that I get to try out a new Japanese restaurant. I was happy that I get to try out a new Japanese restaurant with something new to offer to the plate.

Looking at the ambiance, it has that classic Japanese canteen look to it. I said canteen because it looks like the most common restaurants you find in Japan more or less. The whole place is a bit small though, so it feels a bit cramped.

Looking at their menu, it feels pretty standard for a Japanese restaurant at first. We got to try out their spicy tuna sashimi. We were initially disappointed by how small it is. Thankfully it tastes good enough and the spiciness adds some kick to this raw dish. We also tried out their Gyoza, which is quite good actually. I like that they placed it under a steel pan with some veggies under to keep the dish hot. The meat inside is also quite large. Another really good recommendation as well is their Chicken Karaage. These are really crispy, juicy, and the sauce that comes with it is also very good. This dish is perfect for those eating in a group.Β

The dishes I mentioned so far are already good enough reasons to visit Kenshin, but the real reason why you should try them out is because they are the only Japanese restaurant in the country(as far as I know) that offers make your own Takoyaki. Basically they will put a takoyaki maker in front of your table, along with all the ingredients needed to make one. They will teach you how to make one so no worries there. Like any other first attempt, ours ended in a flat mess, but that's not the point. The point of it was the experience of making one which felt wonderful, at least to me. I'd just like to add that the price they're asking is quite cheap for a Takoyaki as well.

All in all, I find kenshin to be reasonable. They were able to get past the generic Japanese restaurant feel by offering the classic dishes really well, and of course the make your own takoyaki is a really good novelty. If you want a classic Japanese restaurant with a twist, Kenshin should be on your list.

However, what I didn't like was the firmness of the noodles. You need to tell them if you prefer soft.
