Never had Singaporean food before and this was a nice lil first taste into it! ;)
Both chicken dishes we ordered were so good! Tender, soft & tasty. Or nicely crisp & tender depending on which one u order! The lil ramen lookin thang w cheese was cool too!
Also, they have a cool butter tower :O to use for spread on the sandwich. The filling of their sandwich is really cool, but honestly that butter they use really tops it off for me on the sandwich lol. Hella soft & tasty for some reason. Makes me wanna have a butter tower now too lol.
The mango pomelo dessert was also so good! The 2 fruits balance out so well. It’s also very refreshing!
I’ll definitely come back here to show this cozy spot to more friends! :)
Laksa tasted great! Love the broth
I’ve been there a lot of time to eat their Hainanese Chicken Rice. Sometimes ordered the bread.
Good service.
I’m very dislike their mee goreng, kind of tasteless compare with original mee goreng.
Good place to spend your usual merienda afternoons since they offer coffee, tea and toast. But unlike your usual Starbucks, they pull their coffee so it becomes smoother and with less residue which I find cool.
My last visit at Nanyang made me notice the combination of the old way of food preparation, especially with coffee, and its modern design. The food tastes good I must say.
I love the food. Place is great. I'll definitely recommend this to some of my friends.
One the best things that captured me here is the selection of food that they offer.
I went here last time with my family since we got curious on why the restaurant had so many people. When we got in, we're briefed of the best sellers and we have given it a try.
I must say I got astonished on the restaurant interior and the food. For its price, I'll give it a 5/5.
Nanyang has been a popular destination for its delectable and bang for the buck laksa and chicken meals. It also has filling kaya toasts which come in different spreads. A bite of its offerings quickly transports its guests to Lion City, Singapore. But one other thing Nanyang got my taste buds turning pink with glee is its superb drinks!
Got my prawn laksa fix from Nanyang! It was pretty good tho I feel like the laksa soup lacked “thickness”, if that makes sense. Haha. Worth it/relatively cheap, you’d expect it to be around PHP 300 to PHP400+ given the location but I got it for 268php.
I think you may want to replace your hanging lamps near the window area. Notice three people bumping their heads on the lighting fixtures. The servers were really nice, but they were inattentive.
Had some late snack here with my F.A. before the mall closes, lol.
He treated me some Traditional Toast and Hot Milo. The singaporean toast tasted funny to me at first since I'm tasting coconut and some weird jelly at the same time. But on the 3rd bite, got used to it and I liked it. Third times the charm! The milo tasted same-same.
Hoping to try their asian delights soon especially their Hainanese Chicken rice!
When it comes to Sinagporean food, few restaurants hits the spot for me as much as Nanyang does.
The Hainanese Chicken was incredibly juicy and the Chicken Rice was incredibly flavorful.
The Laksa had the vibrant zing of spiciness that I always look for, making me crave for it more and more.
The Fried Hainanese Chicken was also a nice twist, with nice crispiness adding a new dimension of texture to a classic.
Definitely a restaurant I would highly recommend to everyone!
I love singaporean food so happy that they brought nanyang in the Philippines. Love the laksa noodles and hainese chicken. Try their authentic beverages and toast! Prices are very reasonable and the ambiance of the restaurant is really nice and modern.
Always been a fan of Singaporean. So glad to know that Nanyang’s dishes are my favorite! Tried so many great food that time, but I must say that my favorites are Laksa, Cheesy Chicken Chop Noodle and of course, Hainanese Chicken. 🥰😋 will definitely go back! Almost forgot, love their iced lemon tea too 🥰
Really good Singaporean food (and drinks) at affordable prices!
The friend hainanese chicken rice is my favorite and I can’t help not to order this whenever I visit Nanyang. (I’m always excited to eat it and can’t include a photo here) Anyways, they serve it with hainanese rice (and trust me, they have the best hainanese rice ever!!!) The fried chicken is very flavorful and aside from the super yummy rice, it also comes with soup, veggies, and three kinds of sauces. I’m usually not a fan of vegetables but the sauce that came with it made it taste so good!
I also like their Ice Teh Melaka!! The creaminess and sweetness was just right. (Photo not included also, will make sure to take one the next time i visit. I’m so sure I will go back soon)
Everything that we tried was good, even their bagoong sauce was remarkable!!
Would definitely go back and recommend to my friends and family.
Glad there's a singaporean resto right in the heart of greebelt. Enjoyed the hainanese chicken rice (steamed) but the servings are small for my appetite, maybe i'll double it next time i visit.
Their rich and flavorful Homemade Laksa is a must try. You'll instantly get hooked with it on your first sip. Be sure to ask first how to properly eat their soft boiled egg to enjoy it!
I’m glad that there’s finally an excellent, affordable option for Singaporean food in Manila. This is a good place if you’re looking for a quick, hearty lunch.
Craving for a taste of Singapore? Head over to Nanyang now for a true Singaporean delight. With its savory meals that kept a balance between staying true to its Singaporean roots and at the same time catering to its Filipino consumers, I found myself craving for more everytime I finish a dish. My favorites? The Chicken Curry and Laksa (available shrimp or fish ball), for sure! Located in Greenbelt 5, i’ll make sure to make this my number one go-to resto in Manila whenever I’m yearning for the flavours of Singapore. Also, don’t forget to order the Milo Dinosaur. I may have forgotten to take a photo of it but trust me..it’s the bomb!
Don't get fooled by Nanyang's simple and minimalist store design as their food offers a lot of flavor. Their meals are a balance of rice or noodles, meat and some veggies. The combinations of the food are well thought of ( and I also like how the food was presented). The servings are huge and you will surely get your money's worth here. It has a certain vibe of having a meal in Singapore.
My favorites are the fried hainanese chicken rice (which is unusual since the hainanese chicken from other places just offers steamed ones); (I also loved the rice that came with this meal).
BTW, I love their iced tea and honey lemon drink (I forgot to take a photo of this).
Only other comment I have is for the Laksa, the noodles are not my type since it felt a bit snappy when chewed (or undercooked but I feel it's the noodles)
Good place for a quick meal when you're in Greenbelt. Service is good and food quality is trustworthy and tasty.
I had the Kaya Butter Toast and Cheesy Chicken Chop Noodle. Get your taste of Singapore right here in Greenbelt!
💕 Date for Two: Laksa, White Kaya Thick Toast, Hainanese Chicken Rice
💌 Total: P606
Overall:
Another minimalist restaurant replaced Toastbox at Greenbelt 3, this time with Singaporean comfort foods such as what we’ve ordered – Laksa! Hooray!
Laksa (P268) – we definitely enjoyed this one, still not better than Wee Nam Kee’s though, but it’s tasty too! Serving was quite short, it was only filled in a small bowl. We wanted more of it considering the price. Nevertheless, we’ll come back for this when we’re at GB and craving for Laksa.
Hainanese Chicken Rice (P268) – a huge round plate with small circles of rice, chicken, veggie, soup, and spices. The chicken was very tender and tasty, looked really fresh and appetizing. This dish is worth its price.
Thick Toast (White, P70) – We forgot the specific variant of this thick toast but we sure remembered how this one got us full in a jiffy. We only ordered one for us and took this as our dessert. Yum!
Next time, we’ll try their drinks as well. And yes, maybe still order the same foods. We love it!
Value for money: Worth it!
#DateForTwo at Nanyang
Loved the laksa I had for dinner, very creamy and full of flavors. Generous amount of seafood and the noodles were great too! I will def come back here more often. Friendly and quick staff too.
Today was my first time to eat at Nanyang and the cashier (a pretty girl) helped me decide what to eat. I asked for the best selling dishes and she recommended hainanese chicken rice, laksa prawn, and the fish ball noodles. As a lover of spicy food, I naturally ordered the laksa prawn which was mildly spicy and savory. Aside from the cashier, the other crew members were also nice. Jason, who assisted me in finding a table and request for additional order of kopi jelly milk tea (another best seller), was very accommodating and had a pleasing personality. Overall, the service, the staff, and the food were great. Will definitely come back.
I love Nanyang's location at Greenbelt! It is central to the beautiful shops and what better way to unwind after a day of shopping than a bite of Kaya Toast and a sip of hot teh. That is just what i did a day before Holy Thursday. Roads were slowly thinning out with people scurrying out of the city, and a nice way to recollect and have a pleasant afternoon merienda with foodie friends.
Ordered a crowd favorite, more like, kids favorite 'Milo Dinosaur'. Cold chocolate drink topped with Milo powder! Sweet, indulgently rich, packed with nutrients but at the same time fattening for us adults. Love the Kaya Toast with Butter and the soft boiled eggs. Comforting and a nice dish to share with friends. I enjoyed the rich creamy butter paired with the unique coconut kaya jam. You can buy an assortment of these jams if you wish to recreate it at home. The Hainanese Chicken Set is quite big for one, I imagine it is good for sharing! I love everything in this set! The bokchoy, the sauces, the tender chicken and the flavorful hainanese rice! Everything is a match! The Cheesy Chicken Noodle looked deep in soy but rather lacking in flavor if not for the cheese sauce. Ask for some hoisin. The Laksa was filled with seafood, soup was rich and packed some spice. Noodle choice could be different but overall it is still a nice order once the rainy season kicks in.
Nanyang Greenbelt again is a nice place to unwind. A word of advice: they are a self service casual restaurant. Order at the counter and get service water at the counter as well. Recommended.
Im no stranger to Nanyang , having eaten at their SM Aura branch initially followed by a visit to their branch in Bonifacio High Street several times for their Teh and Toast
I still remember how rich their laksa broth was, how tasty their hainanese chicken and how easily their Kopi Teh became a favorite...
Prawn Laksa is one of the best sellers at nanyang. The soup is rich, slighty sweet, and mildly spicy. The Mango Pomelo Sago is refreshing, it has shaved ice and mango puree and milk.

Their noodle soup is okay, not that bad. Their coffee is one of my favourite and this is my to-go option. Always good to pair with some plain tasty fried buns!
Now you can get some of Singaporean hawker-food favorites in Manila. Sample some of their best-selling chow such as the Hainanese Chicken for a hawker-food experience you will love.
You can satisfy your chicken rice cravings in two ways—classic and fried Hainanese. Enjoy succulent pieces of poached chicken breast paired with flavor-packed rice plus garlicky bokchoy included in the classic Hainanese Chicken Rice (P 268) set. If you want a bit of crunch and depth, order Fried Hainanese Chicken Rice for the same price.
Love rice? Try out their take on Nasi Lemak. The rice is soaked in coconut cream which makes it fluffy. The rice set comes with sliced golden fried chicken, chili paste (sambal), roasted peanuts, egg, and crispy fried anchovies.
Cheesy Chicken Chop Noodle (P 238) is stir-fry noodles served with golden crispy chicken slices with nacho cheese.
If you’re craving something light, go order their Classic Kaya Toast. Kaya toast is toasted bread filled with butter and coconut jam (kaya). Best eaten with your hands and dipped in perfect soft- boiled eggs with soy sauce, this much-loved breakfast staple goes perfectly with a cup of coffee (kopi) or tea (teh).
Also, Nanyang ensures that their Homemade Laksa (P 238) will be your next favorite chow. Laksa is symphony of creamy coconut milk-based broth, rice noodles, and perfectly-cooked shrimp. This hot noodle soup brims with layers of flavor and spices.
If you’re looking for no-fail Singaporean food, get them from Nanyang.
My Wife and I got to visit Malaysia & Singapore early this year. Local fares from the recent travel still linger our taste buds. Thus, the look out for authentic Singaporean cuisine led off to the Bustling Business Capital, Makati. Most restaurants claims they're authentic on sorts. To shortlist menu in terms of authenticity, the quest for Laksa has always been top of the list. One stood out, Nanyang. Their prawn Laksa brought the Sg foodie days back in action. To be honest, I'm allergic to prawn, but with the help of chillies which i requested from their servers, its sharpness neutralized the sting. Two Thumbs Up!
Chicken made me craved for more. Nasi Lemak 's oozing crispy chicken served with sambal sauce, anchovies & peanuts somewhat heightened my Sg Chicken cravings. It made me order and had my buds savor the best of both steamed & fried Hainanese Chicken. Truly a chicken lover's delight.
Nanyang also brought in Sg's staple spread, Kaya.. Tasty Coconut based spread that pairs well with toasted bread and Tetarik.
With 41 ° heat index, an Iced Coffee Melaka and the airconditioned Singaporean inspired cafe will definitely make you forget summer's scorching heat.
I'll definitely be back for more. .

I remember enjoying this Singaporean classic snack before but haven’t had it in quite a while: the Kaya Toast! Today’s visit reminded me of that and I am now officially hooked again. I enjoyed the Kaya Toast, the one with Butter (of course!) and with soft boiled eggs which you mix with their sauce and pepper. I will be back again right after the Holy Week when shops reopen to have some more. 😉
My new favorite is also their Laksa. Loved the spicy soup, prawns and egg though not too fond of the noodles they used but I can live with it. 😆 I alternated slurping the soup with a bite of my Kaya Butter Toast dipped in seasoned soft boiled eggs.
Next favorite is the Hainanese Chicken Rice. It’s a set that comes with (poached?) chicken, hainanese rice, soup, vegetable and sauces. I thoroughly enjoyed this complete meal. They also have the fried chicken version but I prefer the “original” one much more.
And on to the drinks... This visit (as opposed to my visit in another branch where I availed of the promo where you pay half when you get a drink with the set but can only choose from 3: lemon, lemon honey and barley), I’ve learned my lesson and skipped the lemon honey and barley because they’re not for me (since I have a sweet tooth). I like the Milo Dinosaur plus I tried the Iced Kopi Jelly Milk Tea today and it was goooood! It’s like coffee jelly dessert (which I love) in a drink form! It’s nice to take a break from the usual sago/ pearls from milk tea shops and enjoy the coffee jelly “sinkers.”
Luckily I was able to tag along today’s Foodie Meet Up and was able to sample several dishes and then pick my favorites. And on my next visit, I’m repeating everything I just mentioned and maybe try their fish balls too plus the Horlicks drink (I love Horlicks).
Looking for a Singaporean Cuisine in Makati area? This establishment won't disappoint. Here are some reasons why I would definitely go back for more:
Prawn Laksa- Fresh prawns included and spice level perfect for Filipino taste.
Hainanese Chicken - Taste very authentic and served with the usual Hainanese rice and soup but Nanyang goes the extra mile and added Bok Choi sides.
Kaya Toast - Divine!
Iced Kopi Melaka - I'm the type who goes for strong coffee and I can say that theirs offer a bold taste perfectly sweetened.
This place instantly brought me back to Singapore culinary wonder.
Additional points for cleanliness and ambiance.
Nanyang is a Singaporean cafe that specializes in rich, 1-meter Kopi/Teh served with condensed milk for creaminess. They’re also known for their Kaya Toast. Unbeknownst to me, it’s a great breakfast comfort food, especially with a soft-boiled egg with soy sauce! [Read More]
Went here for a quick lunch and that’s what I loved about it! Quick self service and food! Perfect if you’re in a rush!
Prawns laksa - 5 stars
Coffee jelly milk tea - 5 stars
More Nanyang stores are opening to curb our Singaporean and Malaysian cravings. They currently have 6 stores, expect that to double soon!
You may come here for heavy meals to jumpstart your long day or your go-to place for light snacks. Nanyang serves the staple Hainanese Chicken Rice and your choice of Kaya Toasts. You can pair these with any of their refreshing line-up of beverages. I went for ice cold, not too sweet, Horlicks.
I’ve been here a couple of times. I suggest having their version of savory Laksa bowls as well. They have two kinds, Prawn and Fish Ball. At just Php 268, this is an authentic treat. For a more filling meal, go for crisp Chicken Chop Rice.
Nanyang has loads of toast choices to choose from. If you’re coming here for the first time, go for the classic Kaya. Its filling is a custard made up of coconut milk, sugar, and egg. On top of that, dip it with an order of soft boiled egg! The Peanut Butter Toast variety is a cool choice too.
To wrap up your Southeast Asian visit at Nanyang, have the delicious Mango Pomelo Sago, your answer to address the scorching summer heat.
nanyang-ka nanaman, tinutukso-tukso ang akong gutooom... well binusog din ako ng over over, lah’ thank you for tahdah, @nanyangph your SG food offerings are not only authentic, it’s sulit on taste and tummy space!
‘twas my 1st time tryin’ it out kopi jelly MT - coz im more boba that way (hehe) and it was 👌 a wonderful balance of sweet, tea, cream and sinkers that aint overwhelming like the rest is defo a must-try!
now let’s get to the nitty gritty of what we chowed down. 1st up kaya toast! perfectly cut lengthy portions of ‘em white toast, in it a slice of cheese and kaya (SG’s version of coco jam)- eat it separately w/ a soft boiled egg or dip said toast in the egg w/ dots of thick soy sauce: sweet, savory, creamy as it should be.
i then had the cheesy chickennoodles. fried chicken fillet drizzled w/ cheese sauce on top, eaten w/ (similar to pancit canton style) dark-colored-bold-tasting stir fru noodles w/ poached pechay on the side- anything w/ cheese makes it goodah! the prawn + fishball noodles were next, the rice noodles were perf against that remarkable coconut milk soup stock complementing the laced heat w/ every spoonful. nasi lemak, a fried chicken rice dish that’s served w/ sambal, peanuts, dilis and egg (that’s a lightly battered and fried) - you can mix ‘em all together like fried rice or however you want the order of each spoonful.
ring in the hainanese chix: choose between the classic or the fried hainanese. personally, i’d go for the classic. the chicken was steamed to perfection and has a smoky flavor to it and it’s wonderfully seasoned and the rice, OH MY G, it’s a meal on it’s own. gingery and nummy, my mind was blown away! as for the fried hainanese, it was a tad salty, good thing it come w/ the hot sauce and ginger dips to mellow the taste to an enjoyable mood.
for desserts, the mango pomelo sago i loved - a fruity halo-halo if you may. mango cubes, pomelo shreds, mini tapioca nibblers, mango sauce and shaved ice- i enjoyed how giddy my spoon was playing w/ it before that heavenly bite.
each dish was commendable and we thank their Singaporean chef for it who was supportive w/ our photo-op and prepared a crave-worthy meal for all to enjoy.
I love to come here for merienda! I like ordering their kaya toast with 2 soft boiled eggs and teh for only PHP 150! I also love their hainanese chicken.. although serving might be too little. I always end up still hungry or bitin. Hope they make the serving of the chicken bigger. I will definitely come back and try the other food from their menu!
I wasn’t able to take a photo with what we have ordered but it was a great experience. 👍👍👍 Will definitely go back here and will introduce this to my werkmates. 😍
Great Kopi and milk tea. Also it has nice atmosphere inside. Their coffee jelly drink was awesome! Good place to hang out with friends and family though it is a small restaurant.
Ordered for 3 person that day because I don't think ill be able to comeback again because it far away from home hahahahah.
Nasi Lemak is creamy and tasty
Chicken Curry is suprisingly good with toast as well
I forgot the Noodles with Chicken Chops but it reminds me of Nasi Goreng because of the sweet soy that they use.
Nasi Lemak is what I expected it to be. I love their chili and ask if they sell it and they told me they don't.
Kaya Toast, well Kaya Spread with a thick slab of butter is how we end our meal
Ordered there Yuan Yiang (I've read it as Yu-An Yang, but it's supposed to be read as Yin Yang pala) it's like Chaffe and it's good.

We stopped by Greenbelt 5 in Makati to have some delicious Singaporean food at Nanyang! We enjoyed classic Singaporean dishes such as Laksa, Cheesy Chicken Chop and Hainanese Chicken, and all were spectacular! . if you're craving for delicious and affordable Singporean food in Makati, make sure you stop by Nanyang in Greenbelt 5!
I am looking for a different type of cuisine to try (not American, not Italian) and this time, it's Malaysian/Singaporean. It's not my first time to try Nanyang, but it's my first time to eat on this newly opened branch. This branch in Greenbelt is more spacious compared to the one in SM Aura. It was bright inside and I'm glad it's not that crowded but you'll see there are still many customers here.
Service is friendly. Kudos to the girl on the counter, she suggested me some of the dishes and its combinations. My only problem is that several tables that time were left uncleaned or with plates and leftovers from previous customers. I cleaned it myself.
I ordered Hainanese Crispy Chicken Rice (P268.00) - the chicken was crispy and thin. The taste is good even without the sauce. Three types of sauce were included on the set (chili, ginger, and the one that's thick black salty sauce). It comes with fried rice and I was glad.
I also ordered the Kaya toast and Peanut Butter Toast with 2 eggs.
Kaya Toast (P70.00) - It may look as simple as a toasted bread with butter and coconut jam but this was flavorful. The coconut jam is sweet. It'll ooze every bite. Enjoy it while it's hot and soft.
Peanut Butter Toast (P60.00) is somehow big in serving. The top part of the bread was filled with peanut butter and was sprinkled with with nuts. It was sliced into 9 bite-size toasted bread.
Kopi Jelly Milk Tea (P130.00) - one of the reasons why I'll be a fan of Nanyang. It's quite similar to the Thai Milk Tea. The tea taste is dominant but the sweet milky part can be tasted as well. The jelly is soft.
I also ordered soft boiled eggs and put it in a small bowl, and I dipped a part of Kaya toast and tasted it in one bite.
I was actually looking for the loo when I passed by this restaurant. As a big fan of Singaporean/Malaysian cuisines, I felt obliged to give it a try. I ordered the Laksa Fish Balls and a glass of iced Milo and neither of them disappointed me.
I say foods here are really good and great its worth the money. I will personally recommend my friends to come here and try it .#NANYANG
I personally recommend this branch of NANYANG for getting a rightful service , first we are assisted to our sit and introduce their best seller at the counter , we order Laksa , hainanese chicken and kopi jelly milk tea. I am surely to comeback again with my family :>
We really love this Singaporean cafe , my whole gaming team loves the ambiance as much as the food it serve , we are really amaze of their multi-tasking (staffs) though busy hours and long line is given , but i swear i personally recommend the Kopi of NANYANG after we enjoy the BreakOut challenge we ran to this store for dinner , we really love to come back again to satisfy our cravings. Thanks much for the polite staff that assisted us
Very accomodating staff. Good food and ambiance. I really love singaporean food. Highly recommended to all of my colleagues. Will surely come back. 😊😊😊
Recommend ko tong restaurant na to!!! Super sarap ng mga foods ! at malinis at polido yung service nila
Its super yummy, nakalimutan kong d pala nya ko mahal. HAHAHAHHAA. Ambiance is good. If naghahanap ka ng makakainan na makakamove on ka, tas masarap, affordable pa, alam mo na? tara na sa greenbelt letsgoooooooo #NANYANGWIN
I recommend it. 100%. The best place I've ever been to. Staff are amazingly helpful, the restaurant looks breath taking and dont even make me start on the food. Their food is just exquisite. Top notch and affordable. It just blew me

The Place really gives you the good vibe even before you can come inside. The ambience is nice. The Staffs are Polite. The food tastes so good. Really suitable for a 5 star.
For my forever favorite Kopi and Kaya Toast with Eggs, I would’ve rated this a 5. However, recently, I tried their fishball dry noodles and they were too bland and because of that I can’t give it a perfect score.
But this is one of my favorite dining places ever, mostly for their Kopi and Kaya Toast with Eggs, so I would still very much highly recommend it!!
I was killing time in Greenbelt 5 (waiting for something to be done in Greenbelt 1) when I chanced upon Nanyang. I wasn't hungry but enter, I did (after consulting Zomato).
When I read that they serve Kopi/Teh, I had to try the place. I chose to have Iced Teh with evaporated and condensed milk and Sea Salt Caramel Toast.
My food was brought to my table by a pleasant server who also took my order and punched it in the cash register (effective multi-tasking!) How about the food? Happy, I was. Everything was in order. I will be back with my next order already calendared in my brain.
I love the place because it’s perfect for a quick meeting w/ a friend or if you’re grabbing a quick brunch.
my favorite is their Iced Lemon Tea ( not your typical sweet Iced Tea ) but if your not a fan then I recommend to try their Coffee Jelly Milk Tea and don’t forget their Kaya Toast! I also loved their Fish Ball Noodles and the Hainanese Chicken Rice
First time to eat at Nanyang in Greenbelt 5. What I really love and like is their Laksa Prawn. Not too spicy it is perfect. The prawn tastes so good!!! I will get back there to try again this kind of food.
Their chicken rice meal is sulit and is good too. But I enjoyed their Kaya Toast set better. Planning to get the spread so I can make it at home. Coffee is great. Just right and is not too strong for someone that is acidic like me
Filipinos who enjoy Singaporean classics such as Hainanese Chicken, Laksa, and the traditional Kaya Toast will be glad to know that another branch of Nanyang is now open in Greenbelt. Its two branches is already operating in SM Aura Premier and SM City Pampanga. Nanyang, famous for its Nanyang Kopi and the freshly toasted bread served with a modern twist is a hit to both old and young generations who always filled the seats in its branches. Additional bonus is the cozy set up of the restaurant.
Last Monday, my friends and I try out their newest branch at the Greenbelt 5. While waiting for our food, we can’t help but try several of their beverages. Most of us ordered the Kopi Jelly Milk Tea and we are one in saying that the combination of coffee jelly, tea and milk is the best ever in this side of the world. The kid in me is also happy with the Milo Dinosaur we shared. Another must-try is the Iced Teh Melaka where the three layers of sweets just added to the deliciousness of the iced Teh. Too bad, we didn’t watch how it was made by their Singapore trained staff.
IF I CAN EAT A CERTAIN BREAKFAST EVERYDAY then I will choose the Kaya Toast. Sandwiched between the bread is a thick slice of butter which I mistook for cheese and heavenly spread with sweet Kaya spread. The toast comes with soft-boiled egg. My friend told me that the egg should be perfectly soft boiled and seasoned lightly with soy sauce and pepper. It’s incredible as each bite is dipped into soy-pepper-egg combo. Lovely.
The savoury dishes included in our meal are the Curry Chicken with Rice and Prawn Laksa. It’s my first time to try a Laksa, shying away from it in the past because I’m told it’s super spicy. I love how aromatic the smell of the dish and the ingredients, especially the fresh fish ball. But the best is yet to come and the Chicken Curry is worth the wait. The chunky potato in the thick sauce mixed with chicken and other ingredients is perfect with rice. I love the kick of its spicy flavour, not that intimidating, but the delicious curry taste lingers and seriously you would wish that there’s another cup of rice near you.
For the rice lover, Nanyang best-sellers include the HAINANESE CHICKEN RICE, one of Singapore’s national dishes. I love the texture of the chicken and how the flesh easily tears from the bone. It is moist and juicy. The meal is served together with dips of ginger, chilli sauce and sweet soy as well as the garlic sautéed crunchy bok choy.
Another favourite is the Homemade Nasi Lemak which is a filling meal in itself. It has golden-fried crispy chicken chops with sweet coconut rice. As a side are anchovies, peanuts, deep fried boiled and sambal sauce.
I heard it was a Singaporean styled dishes and since i miss Singapore taste... not a second thought I tried Nanyang. My cravings satisfied!!! and yes another favorite restaurant unlocked! Yahooo!

Singaporean cuisine has always had a place in my heart the mix of three cultures into one amalgamation of perfectly blended spices and tastes.
Nanyang in Greenbelt 5 tries to replicate the distinct Singaporean taste here locally. The have a selection of all time favorite drinks like the Teh Tarik all the way to the modern coffee jelly milk tea.
They also have a selection of different food from the every popular Kaya Toast, Fish Ball noodles and curry chicken (which is best eaten with Rice). The distinct taste of Singapore resonates in the different dishes we sampled. The food actually took me back to Orchard Road where we sampled hole in the wall restaurants back in the days I was frequenting Singapore.
Nanyang nailed perfectly most of the dishes, most specially the Kaya Toast with perfectly soft boiled egg. The chicken curry was right on the money also. The hiananese chicken was somewhat a miss for me. I am after quite a fan of the dish and might have set my expectations a little to high.
My experience with Nanyang still remains to be amazing. Would I return to eat there again? Absolutely but next time I will know what to order.
Among the numerous Singaporean classics offered by Nanyang, I personally recommend the Kaya Toast (perfectly done soft boiled egg), Curry Chicken (best with rice 'cause you won't get enough of the soup), Fish Ball Noodle Soup (more because of the fish ball itself, which according to my friends is authentic) and Iced Teh Melaka.
The space is well-lit and has a lot of seats. Staff are friendly and fast to assist. No wifi or outlets though.
Nanyang is located beside Hobbes and Landes and Breakout.
This place has one of the best Kaya Toast in Manila. The soft boiled egg is cooked perfectly. I'd also recommend the Laksa and fish ball noodle. The fish ball is legit and not fake.
Try the Kopi Teh Melaka. It's really good.
Double thumbs up! I am really satisfied about the service and foods, staffs are friendly, though peak time on stores have long queues and may affect the serving time on each customers order but worth the wait, my food request is completely granted the guy who wear big glasses, this is my second visit yet i still love coming back as they recognize returning guest :>
Ambience
I always remember this location as Toast Box but it's now Nanyang. Seat layout was interesting since they now have high chairs and I spotted at lease one for the young ones. Air-conditioning was very strong at our area towards the back, high seats near the wall and facing the entrance. Place remains very well-lit and they have a display of coconut jam at both ends of the establishment.
Cheesy Chicken Chop Noodle
I ordered this because I found the cheese part intriguing. They drizzled the cheese over the chop like toothpaste but with a wider AOE (area of effect), and it was somewhere between okay and good. I enjoyed the chop thanks to its crunchiness and soft meat. Noodles' texture reminded me of instant noodles but theirs had a more interesting flavor.
Iced Teh Melaka
I was a bit confused with the flavor. I thought it was sweet but definitely new to my palate and taste buds.
Kopi Jelly Milk Tea
This is my favorite between both drinks. Milk Tea tasted strong and flavorful. Coffee jellies looked big but they all fit in the straw. When I was close to the bottom, I drank 'em like I would from a shot glass.
Service
We overheard the place was under new management and there were signs of that. Management seemed very hands-on and staffers were checking on product availability.
They need to look into the following aspects, and I already included their service recovery efforts:
(1) Communication with the staffer at the cash register was very clear and, to some extent, even funny among ourselves. We requested our beverages to be prepared later for take-out but they served one of them for dine-in.
(2) After clarifying, they served both drinks for take-out during our meal instead of afterwards.
(3) Food took a long time to be served but someone from management got our reciept to follow-up for us.
(4) Receipt was never given back to us.
(5) Upon his return, he served our dishes, gave an apology, and offered drinking water. We said "Sure!" and waited. After realizing he might've forgotten what he offered...
(6)...and one failed follow-up with another staffer, I went to the counter only to be told their water is Self-Service (located near the coconut jam display at the farther end).
(7) I mentioned it was offered to us and I tried getting our own water, realizing the pitcher didn't have enough water. I turned around and the staffer at the till already prepared two more glasses of water for us. She helped me carry the excess to our table.
