This is my go-to yakiniku spot since a loooooooong time ago (90s xD). I always come back here especially when the craving hits. No other place will sate the desire for proper Japanese yakiniku. The place is old but the quality of the food is always the best. So far I've tried all the yakiniku places I know of in my area (BF Homes, Paranaque), but in the end I always go back. Although just like any other barbecue place you're gonna end up smelling like barbecue when you leave. Small price to pay since I always leave satisfied so it's not really a big deal for me.
One of the certified oldies but goodies. Very good value for money considering the quality of the beef they use. Ox tongue is tender enough as well.
Delicious high quality meat and a great variety of it. The sauces that this place offers are few but delicious. Tastes very similar to the yakiniku that I have tried in Japan, just pretty expensive and the ambiance of the place isn't the best. Overall good experience due to the tasty food and good japanese beer.
I was not expecting such a delicious meal coming into this place. The restaurant could use a revamped ambience as it looks outdated and dirty looking. The service is not the best and the food took quite some time to arrive. Once the food arrived however it was delicious. The low prices for meats does not reflect the taste of the dishes as they were very good.
Quality yakiniku for a very reasonable price. My boyfriend has been raving about this place. Will trade this place over all other yakinuku or unli samgyup places.
Nothing beats this old Japanese Resto in Makati.. Our favorite! Located at Arnaiz Ave, the old Pasay road.. Kobe Beef, etc, lahat masarap! Nagcrave tuloy ako bigla.
Value for money. Will come back and order more of their Sakura original kurubi! Now if they would only renovate the place then I can give them a perfect rating.
Casual authentic japanese reataurant. Ordering tenzaru soba and grilled meat for our dinner. Food is delicious but not the kind that ‘WOW’ you and makes you come back often.
My favorite yakiniku restaurant in the Philippines. I often visit Japan because I have relatives there and we frequent yakiniku places so I think I’m credible enough to give this review.
First off: everybody must try this restaurant at least 3 times in their lives.
Cons: table booking through call is almost impossible, unless you call before lunch, after that it’s so hard to reach them. Also, staffs are not very attentive. Yakiniku places are normally busy but it’s not *that* busy that you almost can’t attend to customers. I feel like they’re purposely avoiding to make eye contact and that’s such a headache when you’re trying to get their attention.
Pros: THE F O O D. Their wagyus are so soft and buttery, and actually cheap! I just wish they serve still-slightly frozen meats so it doesn’t look soggy on the plate and so they can slice them evenly. Other than that, food is superb! But don’t expect the kimchi to have a noticeable tangy taste, theirs is sweeter than usual.
Suggestion: Everywhere I go I always order jo-karubi, it’s the best for me. Just grill it for a few seconds each side and it’ll gloriously melt in your mouth. Always, always order jo-karubi.
Love this place. I come here twice a month. Im fine with the 1990's vibe of the place. As along as they keep the quality of food and kept it clean as is.
Been coming here for several years and their thinly sliced beef is always excellent. This is the reason why we keep coming back.
However, their sushi and other ala carte dishes are just average. Wish they’d also improve the smoke circulation. It’s so strong that my eyes are watering by the end of the meal and I come out smelling like a burning building.
Sakura Yakiniku has been a go-to restaurant since my childhood. We grew up eating their karubi yakiniku. Coming back after years, I was surprised that it looked exactly the same. We ordered salmon sashimi and a number of karubi platters. Still excellent. The tempura seemed smaller than I remember though and service is a bit slower.
Beef Yakiniku Lunch Set for 270 pesos = Life Changing! Try it and you’ll get what I mean. This place has been in Arnaiz for a long time and we were only able to try few months back. Such a sucker for authentic restaurants and I’m so happy to be able to discover this hidden gem. Now I want some more ❤️
🐽 Food: They offer different kinds of beef. Make sure to order these! Thinly sliced and flavorful. You’ll be cooking this by yourself. Fun! Match it with their Japanese fried rice and you’ll be satisfied. They offer other Japanese meals and sushi too.
🍹 Drinks: They serve cold or hot house tea. They also offer soft drinks, juices and beer.
🍴Ambiance: The restaurant doesn’t have that modern feel. They should upgrade it already.
👫 Service: Staff are pleasant and prompt.
💸 Price: It can be quite pricey although food served tastes authentic.

We are here in the afternoon and I think the ambiance is way too old but their traditional food is really good. I didn’t expect the Yasai Soup to be that good but that alone with Rice is already a perfect match. So I recommend this restaurant, well known for classic Japanese food. Everything is hot when served, just a 4 ⭐️ cause I think they need to renovate a little to bring life to the place.
Our family loved it! ESP the Bacon grill. Original Sakura was so yummy. Gohan and Chahan rice were both good!
Downside, the smell of d grilling. Hope they add ventilation or exhaust fan
Find it somewhat shameful that for a foodie like me, it’s my first time eating here 😐 (got too fond of kbbq that I forgot about the OG of grilled meats!!!). Well, at least better late than never, yeah? 😉 Found ourselves one Saturday travelling to Arnaiz ave to experience this well knowed yakiniku spot. Good thing it wasn’t that packed on a Saturday night, we were immediately seated and got into browsing the menu instantly. We tried the set meal for 2 and got 1 ala carte order of the wagyu beef.
As much as I would like to explain it, my life dramatically changed after my first bite of meat. I believe it was the U.S beef that I got to try first bec the big star of the night, the wagyu beef, arrived a little bit late. First bite of wagyu beef, I just looked up and thanked God that Im not a vegetarian 😂😂😂😂😂
Flavors are perfect even without their special sauce tho the sauce really compliments it.
The salmon sashimi was great too. Cheap for around 200 pesos I think.
The set came in with soup, side dishes and 1 rice plus fruit.
Definitely gonna be my go to bbq place 💜
I grew up visiting their UN place, its been 20+ plus years! We went to their Makati spot for my post grad lunch. We got there before they opened at 11:30, so we got seated immediately. Its an old place, but the food is amazing nonetheless. We ordered the usual, karubi, steak, and tongue. Edamame and tempura not in the photos. We did have a little issue with the tempura, it had an off flavor to it. We raised our concern to the server as a form of feedback regarding the flavor of their tempura which she immediatley forwarded to the kitchen. Before we could decline, they were serving a new batch of tempura to replace the ones first served.
Will always go back to this place. 👍🏼💖
Food was really good!! Best japanese grilled restaurant i’ve been to. Staff was very accommodating. Their Original Sakura Korubi is a must-try. We also loved their chicken katsu. Basically, everything that we ordered were mouthwatering!
Absolutely love this place. We have been going to this place for 15 years. Food is consistently great and tasty. Service is very attentive.
Only critique would be that you don’t come in your Sunday best or plan anything after. You will smell of food after dining here. Not such a bad thing considering it’s lovely smell for meat lovers :)

Old school japanese resto. Attentive servers. Big serving. Spicy tuna sashimi is a must try. Every food we ordered if not good; a lovely experience. The 1 point deduction is mainly because of the overall interior design. I appreciate the traditional look but some decors are just not working anymore. Better lighting maybe?
Yummy! Great tasting beef barbecue and reasonably priced menus. Service is not bad. Not very good interiors but reminiscent of coomon small restaurants in East Asian cities.
Food -🌟🌟🌟🌟
Ordered their Tonkatsu Lunch Set.
Delicious including their sides. Too many that I failed to finish them all.
Worth the price. 🖒🖒
Ambiance -🌟🌟🌟🌟
Comfy couches, kinda hot but bearable.
Service -🌟🌟🌟🌟
Ok. Normal service for a busy restaurant.
I love the yakiniku here same taste in Japan. Everytime i dine here with my family or friends it reminds me the taste of real japanese food even the side dishes the rice. Ichiban! Furusato no aji. Daisuki desu!
The place may not seem fancy but the food here is great! I've been here many times already and the salmon sashimi never disappoints. I've always ordered the US Prime Rib Karubi Lunch/Dinner set which goes with egg soup (👍👍👍👍👍), vegetable side dish (👍👍👍👍), rice (👍👍👍👍) and dessert (👍👍). I give the dessert two thumbs up because one has to be lucky to get the pineapple served ripe. Maybe serve melon or watermelon next time or even orange slices to balance the sweetness of the meat. If you have somewhere to go to after eating here, better bring an extra top because the smoke sticks, but that is part of the great dining experience.
I must say first impressions never last. When I thought this place when I pass by Arnnlaiz ave. seems old , but there are reasons why as this lasted long in the competitive F&B industry here. I got myself first maguro sashimi as it was on promo. It was somehow fresh but not to my standards. Their tempura rice meal set was value for money as it includes miso soup sa well. Of course I wont leave this place without trying their yakiniku and it was a delight when I ordered those 100 gms of us prime rib. It was good reminder of my Japan trip. Yes I will be back here in this place.
UPDATE: If you're looking for affordable, yet delicious yakiniku meal, try this one. Side dishes vary so I was very happy I got chopped sashimi on my second visit. The sauce here is the bomb. Can't wait for my third visit.
Food: Been craving for yakiniku lately so when I found out about Yakiniku Sakura I was too thrilled to try their lunch sets. One by one my table was filled with small plates with a bit of everything--veggies, soup, kimchi with bean sprouts, small fried salmon and a plate of personal yakiniku set. I asked for a cold mugicha while cooking the beef...it was so refreshing that I drank three glasses.
Surprisingly, the grilling table was not too smoky, and it quickly cooked my meat. I go for almost medium-well done as it was hard to aim for medium rare with the thinness of the beef. The highlight of my meal was the sauce, SO GOOD. You can mix and match the sauce according to your taste, but for my part, I put everything in it.
Soup was just ok, not a fan of soups so cannot judge this one. The fried dish was not oily, but I was not able to distinguish the fish, actually I thought it was a breast chicken. Kimchi was not the expected kimchi from the Korean restos, it was so mild, not spicy. Bean sprouts was crunchy to soft texture, good for the beef. The veggies, nothing special so I gave it to my friend.
Servings: Thumbs up for the lunch sets. Go for this one.
Service: Nice, friendly staff. They automatically refill your drinks, so plus points for this one.
Presentation: The beef is IG worthy. I am craving for it right now.
Price: For P270 plus minimum service charge, this is a win! One of the cheapest, yet satisfying yakiniku sets ever.
Will I come back again? Yes, for the beef and the sauce. I just wished they have pickled veggies. :(
This is the one of the best yakiniku place in manila. I'vr been eating here for so many years and stopped for awhile and now i'm back! The menu is still amazeballs! The sauce is so delicious.
Don't forget to ask for the set menus especially on lunch times!
This is one of my favorite restaurants of all time! I always always always crave for Sakura and their sauce (omg don't get me started on the sauce!!!). Their horumon is melts in your mouth, and the meat they serve is really tender and fresh!

Great and affordable Yakiniku. Food tastes good and is value for money. Their lunch set is quite a treat! It comes with a platter of beef, a bowl of japanese rice (not to mention it's unlimited), soup and 3 side dishes. A must try!
I am a carnivore and one of my favorite food trips is eating yakiniku that I you have to cook the way you want it to. This place is a go-to if you're in the makati area during lunch time because they have lunch sets that cost a little below 300 and it is complete with sides, soup and rice. The quality and taste are great considering that which is why I definitely will head here when I crave yakiniku!
As per suggestion from my relatives, i went here with my boyfriend last weekend and all i can say is that the food was superb! we tried the yakiniku lunch meal and you will leave your table really full. food keeps on popping up ever so often, we were served with soup, fried dish, small dish, kimchi, rice(which was unlimited), the yakiniku beef, and ended it with some fruits. really great place and would love to comeback some time soon
NOTE: its yakiniku, so you'll definitely leave the place smelling like food. for girls, just a tip, tie your hair up to lessen the smell sticking to your hair
Okay I'm probably super biased because I've been going back to this karubi haven for the last 10 years but seriously. This is my favorite restaurant of all time. Like in all metro manila. For the past 10+ years they have continued to serve consistent, delicous and not to mention hella affordable yakiniku choices for us to pick from. We always go with the Original Karubi and I can eat a platter of meat that's good for 3. Love. This. Place.
My parents love this resto before I was even born and we still eat here on special occasions. We really love this restaurant and it's very special to us. Everything is good, I love the homey and authentic Japanese feels of sakura. Will def bring my future children here to continue our little family tradition lol. 💕
This restaurant has been my family's favorite on special occasions for over 20(?) years. Their beef and their sauce is absolutely to come back for. Although the place needs some touch-up and upgrading. But never the less, I still love the US prime beef with yakiniku sauce.
Salmon Sashimi is perfect hindi malangsa. Talagang fresh. The ambience great too! Overall, Perfect! Murang mura lalo na kapag may ka-share. The beef is also superb!
Freshest salmon sashimi I've tried in the Metro - no fishy taste, and vibrant in color. Beef is of good quality as well. Service is stellar. 🌟
Always a pleasant experience tondine in here. They serve good quality beef that comes with kimchi and bean sprout salad. You make your own sauce by mixing garlic, fermented bean paste, yakiniku sauce which is soy based and their special sauce. On certain days, they serve otoro sashimi but very limited amounts. The only downside that I see is whenever we dine here, you will surely smell like yakiniku inside out..but I guess that is part of the experience of a great yakiniku place
Their beef yakiniku lunch set (available everyday - even on Sundays) is unbeatable both in taste and price! P270 will get you one heck of a compete meal. Dessert included! Service is always great. One of my favorite restaurants.

I love this place as this is our family go to place. The place is a bit outdated but the food is great. I also love their service and they make you feel like your part of the family.
