Loved the taste of spaghettini broccoli and pine nuts! Service was good over lunch
Very lovely ambiance, delicious food, and fast service.
A romantic restaurant that caters to vegetarian diners.
I'm taking the no-meat-fast the time I ate here and I was not really expecting anything. I was greatly surprised and pleased with the food quality. I recommend ordering their laing, it was the dry version in which I loved. The red rice is also a delight, nutty and filling at the same time.
Food: Loved the Lumpia, basic sweet potato fries, garlic mayo wasn’t garlicky worried about the spinach croquette, the picture was sad, but it was a tragedy in real life
Location: Amazing location a little nook for good food and conversation
Ambiance: old Filipino antique furniture. Homey
Service:quick attentive and fast
Price: steep, pricey not for budget hunters. But the limited amount of pure vegetarian restaurants
Will come back? Probably
Didn't think I would crave and like vegetarian this much and I am a self proclaimed carnivore. I cannot wait to be back in the Jupiter area just to eat here again.
Ever since I have been to the Manila, have been eyeing on this food joint as they serve pure vegetarian food and friends have sung laurels about this place!!
Well we checked in to this compact yet cozy cafe around 9:30pm and the cafe looked free and clear probable because of the time.
The kind and prompt staff told us to place our order as they were taking last orders for the day!
So one thing for all of you planning to visit here, be in time, this cafe close at 10pm sharp.
PS: I hope they extend their timings 🤔
While gazing through the menu we ordered vegetable dumplings - Friend's recommendation and North African Vegetable Stew- Staff recommendation. For drinks we ordered San Miguel pelsen and Lemongrass Iced tea.
The dumplings we're soft and goeey, however I felt the covering was overcooked and was giving a little pasty taste
And for the stew, it was just perfect, tasteful and healthy topped with toasted almond seeds!!
We we're full as already had dinner, but couldn't resist visiting this place and the bowl was finished in a jiffy!!
I give 5/5 for their harrisa sauce which was splendid and toothsome, and bursted in flavours. They claimed that it was a super hot sauce, however for us( Indians) it was pretty much manageable😉👌
Look to visit this place again ( this time empty stomach) to try their other delicacies and off course dessert🍰🎂🤤
Love, love, LOVE the food here. You will definitely not miss the meat ♥️ favorites include the arroz ala cubana and the burger dinner plate.

Ambience - 4.5
Tiny cozy, very homey place that becomes too crowded when theres someone sitting on the table beside yours.
Service - 5
If only I can give a 6! Jopie was awesome! She noticed we weren’t eating our raw pecan pie and was so sad for us! She replaced it with the chocolate cake. Orders were quick to and paced properly between courses. We were also very warmly welcomed. The friendliness added to the homey feels.
Food
Spinach croquettes - 4
Pumpkin and pechay chowder - 5
Quinoa salad - 5 huuuuge serving!
Spinach lasagna - 4 I have very high lasagna standards. Cheesy enough but I was craving for the bechamel.
Raw vegan gluten free pecan turtle pie - 1 we totally missed out on the raw part of the name of the pie. We weren’t prepared! Tasted really healthy
Vegan chocolate cake - 4
I would’ve given it a 3 because i like my cakes moist. It gets an extra point because it’s healthy.
A hole in the wall place which serves excellent veggie fare.
This is my weekly go to place for veggie craving - it feels perfect with the feel of a small and relaxed place, freshly cooked food, friendly service and all at a very pocket friendly price.
And yes everything comes with very healthy option of red rice and corn bread too.
Hugely recommended.
My fav - veg chilly with corn bread, lasagne, veggie kofta with red rice and every dish on their menu..
Go for it.
Good place! Yummy and healthy dishes! More pitchers and glasses lang po dapat. Hihi. Kudos! 😊 The servers was very accomodating and polite!

Review as of March 2017
Corner Tree Cafe is probably one of the first restaurants I knew that served healthy vegetarian, vegan food. The place is dimly lit and can only seat a few people making for a cozy lunch or dinner setting.
Dishes I've tried, recommendations are marked with a star (🌟)
- Arroz a la Cubana 🌟
- Veg Laing
Didn't think I would be going back to a vegetarian restaurant and craving for vegetarian food like this. This restaurant shows that healthy can also be tasty. Love everything about this small restaurant except maybe the restaurant next door blocks the parking and makes it difficult for the customers of cornertree. Other than that, 5 stars all around.
The food was inexplicably great, it's bit pricey here but definitely worth it!! Give it a try, you guys!! You just might find your new favorite place!
Stumbled upon this cozy little place where they serve good and tasty food, you won’t even notice it’s vegetarian! We couldn’t believe it! The salted caramel cake was such a good ending to our meal too.
Corner Tree Cafe, you definitely surprised us!
So.. second time I’ve been here and they do not disappoint. As I’ve mentioned before, my boyfriend’s a vegetarian and in Manila the Corner Tree Cafe is a sanctuary for him (hehe). Everything is vegetarian / vegan and he can basically eat anything in the menu.
For starters the Crispy Vegetarian Lumpia and the Vegetarian Dumplings. delicioso. 👌🏽 the food came out efficiently too, on time and did not keep us waiting for too long. For our mains, I ordered the Tofu Teriyaki, and for him the Vegetarian Lasagna. Again, excellent. Servings are perfect, not too big and not too small. We would have ordered dessert but even if the food is vegetarian it’s filling.
The staff are nice and polite, and the place is cozy. Some might say the restaurant is too small and on a busy day it would seem cramped and loud, but those are appealing to me. (They could tone down their landline ring volume though 😉)
Highly recommended!
North African stew with couscous & tofu walnut burger with fires. The patty was a bit of hard and salty but the taste was good. The raw apple pie was too sweet to me, but it tasted so great with the cinnamon in it. It’s quite a cozy place. I will go again.
Decided to try this one out of curiosity. I ordered spinach and mushroom lasagna, country fries, and mango shake. The lasagna tasted pretty good, considering there's no meat in it. Country fries goes really well with the mayo (?) that comes with it. The mango shake is sweet enough to my liking. I also tasted their award winning salted caramel chocolate torte, and it tastes delicious.
Kinda expensive to eat here, though.
I'm not vegetarian or vegan, but wow, the food served by Corner Tree Cafe makes me want to try being one or the other. Eating healthy felt so good here!
You will come to looooovvvvveeee vegetables at this Vegetarian Cafe.
Place: Small but cozy. I will come back soon since it's also a good place to unwind. It's packed during lunch time so better be there early to secure a place.
Location: along jupiter st makati, near Aristocrate
Food: A little bit pricey but sooooooo good! All of these for PhP 1450. So bring your friends so you can try everything and split the bill.
The raw, vegan apple pie at Corner Tree Cafe is alchemy! It has just the right amount of sweetness and doesn't leave you feeling full and heavy. I don't remember the last time I ordered repeats for dessert.
Good food and ambiance!
Guess who’s birthday just passed by- mine!! And what better way to introduce my family to plant-based meals than bringing them to a vegetarian restaurant?? Exciting isn’t it? Since it was my birthday, I get to choose where we eat and no one gets to complain with my choice! Neat! I chose this particular one because this restaurant has good reviews online and it provides a homey, yet luxurious feel to it so I can feel like a madame for my day.
Great food and amazing ambiance! The place is quite, the staff very welcoming and polite. Ideal for couples or small groups for an intimate food experience.
Love love love the ambiance! Perfect for the laid back lunch or dinner out. Food is soooo good and everything i've tried on the menu is satisfying. Personal favorite is the lasagna.
As a vegetarian it's so hard to look for good places where one can eat in PEACE. I literally have no problem figuring out what to eat here because I can eat EVERYTHING. For your vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free friends, this place is definitely a must try. I love the bibimbap and the Filipino rice meals - hits right at home.
My go-to place since I turned vegetarian. It's simple food done right. My favorites are the kofta with cous cous, kare kare, and gyoza. Really can't go wrong with ordering since they have nailed all the dishes on their menu.
I love this cafe! The food is divine and what it lacks in meat it more than makes up with flavour! I usually get the mushroom and spinach dumplings but you can't go wrong with the nut roast or falafel wrap which are equally as tasty! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu!
Me and my husband went for lunch after reading the reviews on zomato. Its a small place but clean and well kept.Half of the place was already occupied when we got there. We ordered quinoa salad, thai veg curry and vegan club. The service was quick. They brought the salad first followed by the main course. We loved the food. The portions were quite big.Infact i could not finish my thai curry as i was too full.Very happy with thiss find. Will definitely recommend it to others and will come again as well.
Good vegan food highly recommend. Although some menu not 100% vegan. It still good. Place is quiet and nice. Service is good also. Will be going back regularly.
Tofu teriyaki with sautéed asparagus & shiitake mushrooms. Flavorful & satisfying. Service was very slow so come with a patient heart & time
The vegetarain food was good here. I order Arroz Ala Cubana. It seems everything is pretty much organic and healthy. I'll definetly come back even though the place was a bit far☺️
This small vegan haven here in Jupiter St just celebrated their 8th Anniversary last May 25. To celebrate this milestone they gave a 20% off on some of their dishes. Being a big fan of Corner Tree Cafe, me and my friend immediately set a Vegan dinner here.
The cafe got a dim light intimate chill kind of vibe. The worst kind of lighting a foodie would want for their photo ops haha. Luckily my friend come with his handy flashlight. 😁 True to being vegan Corner Tree got a bulletin board with flyers on how we can help animal welfare and where to find vegan products.
For our dishes we ordered all our dishes on the 20% off menu. Budget mode on.😁 Here are the dish that we ordered.
🌿Quinoa Salad - healthy food at its best quinoa, organic greens, grilled asparagus, sunflower seed and feta cheese. Love it! A great delicious salad that got a good blend of citrus dressing flavors.
🌿Bowl of Chili - this was my fave of the night. It was like a chili con carne kind of soup with delicious veggies. Love the texture the shiitake mushroom and zucchini gave to the tangy tomato like soup. On the side was the yummy corn bread. You can choose this or red rice but the corn bread was a better bet combined with this bowl of chili. 😁
🌿Spinach and Mushroom Lasagna - Oooh I also love this. Veggie Lasagna!!! Love that even there was no meat it was a heavy dish and the taste was still top notch. Love the different cheeses they put in this dish.
🌿Kare-Kareng Gulay - As a Kare-Kare I seldom order veggies Kare-kare but this one is good even there was no meat again. The organic peanut sauce just got the right flavor no overpowering peanut butter kind of flavor. Love it over the red rice and with some of their organic bagoong. 👍
Overall Corner Tree is definitely one of the top notch vegatarian/vegan place in Makati. You can't go wrong with their dishes even if you are meat lover. 😁👍
Amid all the brightly colored establishments on Jupiter Street, one particular restaurant that has caught my attention for some time is a quiet, homey looking nook on the corner of Jupiter and Saturn Streets. It’s this unassuming facade, as well as a recommendation from a relative, that brought us to the Corner Tree Cafe Vegetarian Food—and one of the best dining experiences that Team Glasses has had so far.
Corner Tree Cafe is a nice place, but it could use some lighting. Their menu selection offers healthy alternatives although there's nothing out of the ordinary. I highly suggest their banoffee pie.👌
I've always been curious to try this resto out. Was hesitant at first as my husband is choosy with vegetables and was pleasantly surpirsed he enjoyed his burger.
Food is a bit pricey but worth it - my personal favorite is the Veggie Kare Kare.
It’s no secret that most Filipinos eat more meat and poultry than fruits and vegetables. This reflects on the restaurants we review as well. We were still nonetheless determined to try eating healthier food. Thus, we decided to give Corner Tree Cafe a try through our partnership with Big Dish. We have absolutely no problem eating meatless meals especially if it’s delicious enough to make us forget craving for meat.
Went there an afternoon for a quick bite, and being a vegetarian place I found the food was really overpriced. Ordered a falafel sandwich, service was quick. It was really good, spicy and fulfilling. ambience is nothing extra ordinary, but a must try place when you feel like eating something healty and vegan.
Comforting vegan-friendly food. The arroz caldo was the most wonderful dish; coffee is actually delicious. There was an unexpected freshness in the way the coffee was roasted. Food selection is varied and interesting – in a good way.
Service is okay. It could be better but servers were friendly enough.
The overall mood of the place reminds me of coming home after a long day. It's quiet, cozy, lovely. You can go with family, a small group of friends, your significant other, or even just on your own. The experience will still be a good one either way.
Every time someone asks me what my favourite restaurant is, Corner Tree is always the first to come to mind. I even brag about having tried most of their dishes on the menu hahaha! I love everything about this restaurant and I wish I could visit more often. I love Corner Tree

I went to makati yesterday and had lunch with one of my friends at my former office. We picked the corner tree cafe along jupiter. I was going through their menu and i was looking for something like the faux chicken i had at the water drop teahouse in manila but i didn't find any. That place was my first exposure to vegan cuisine. I settled on their thai vegetable curry. One of the best curries I've ever had. My friend order their bibimbap and my girlfriend ordered the lasagna. I liked the bibimbap better though so i highly recommend that.
My few negatives would be the bathroom and the ambience. It's a common bathroom located outside which could do with a bit of sprucing up. The ambience is a bit dark inside too. Other than that, the food is excellent :-)
Had the vegan, gluten-free chocolate cake here a while ago. The cake was pretty good, it was moist, and tasted like regular cake. I didn't like the frosting though, I think the coco sugar they used made it taste odd, I couldn't figure out what it tasted like.. also, it was too thick, pretty solid. If I liked the frosting better, I'd definitely go back for it.
Tried the Vegetable Bibimbap, African Stew and Roast. Really like their food and prices are reasonable almost cheap considering the quality.
Beautiful. Amazing vegan dishes, including plant based versions of local dishes which were delicious. A lovely relaxing vibe for a quiet moment off the busy Manila streets.
The food is delicious as always. The dumplings are my favorite. The vegi burger is great.
Basically every dish I tried here is delicious.
If the waitress could only change her expression as if she had a really bad day this place would be perfect. One little smile could make or brake the experience.
Visited this place last March 2016. Food and ambiance are great. Pricey, but vegetarian food is really that way. The place is not that big so you may hear the conversations of other people next to you. Also, parking is a pain in the ass when it comes to restaurants in Jupiter. It's good to come here via Uber or Grab.
I personally prefer this than The Wholesome Table.
I will definitely come back and order the Spinach Lasagna again given the chance. ❤️
It's a small, cozy and a beautiful place to hang out and takes well care of all vegetarian (vegan) needs. I got to know about this place from one of my colleagues, who visited Manila for a few weeks. So, I went in for lunch. I had ordered for a tomato soup, which was yum and tangy, the way it's supposed to be. I also ordered for a Spaghetti Broccoli pasta, which was slightly bland for me, but then they got me some sauce to add more flavor. I was impressed with their food, so I got a Falafel sandwich packed for my dinner. Sandwich was nicely prepared and tasty.
Would surely recommend people to visit!
Ive Never been a big fan of Vegetarian food until Ive dined in Corner Tree Cafe. I came to dine here by accident 3 years ago while I was trying to find a place to park, grab coffee and get some work done before meeting a client. Once you get inside you will get the homey vibe that youre in someones cozy kitchen. The place is small, cozy and very idyllic. I personally love their tomato soup, its the best Ive tasted so far, so full flavored and exvellent texture, the soup in itself is very filling. The pasta is well done and very flavorful despite being meatless. Trully a guiltless treat for the health conscious.
I wasn't a fan of the whole vegetarian/vegan concept until I tried corner tree cafe. I just love how they made it really good and unconsciously you're eating healthy. Their veg nut roast is so comforting and in split second I would order it once more. As for there Arroz a la cubana this is another must try that anyone must taste. Very cozy and comforting one of those hole in the wall gems along the Jupiter area that is a must try for anyone who is looking for other alternatives.
My second Zomato review. Here goes. From a heavenly -happy vibe- treat in Ortigas, we headed straight to this cafe in Makati. I am in love with their vegan CHOCOLATE CAKE! Im no vegan but I wouldnt mind becoming one if i get to eat here everyday. Love love love! ❤❤❤
For our appetizer, the Corner Tree Starter Plate (PhP 295) came out as an interesting combination of dukka and dummus. Dukka is an Egyptian fragrant dry blend of seeds, pulses, and spices with warm chunks of whole wheat bread and extra virgin olive oil. The hummus was made of chickpeas, tahini, and black olives served with vegetable sticks. The fresh, distinct, and interesting array of mixed flavors and textures in one bite make it a good option but not a must-order.
The Spinach Feta Croquettes (PhP 210, 3 pieces) had a nice comforting flavor and were light and crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle. These tasty croquettes were made with spinach, feta, cheese and red rice served with a mint organic yogurt sauce and Corner Tree Cafe’s very own harissa on the side (great for chili lovers). We definitely recommend.
Made with spinach, roasted bell pepper, mushroom, and three different cheeses, the Spinach and Mushroom Lasagna (PhP 450) was very aromatic and it was an absolute hit. This vegetarian lasagna was about as fresh and summery as it’s ever going to get, creamy and packed with deliciousness altogether.
A nirvana for a vegetarian’s taste buds, the Arroz a la Cubana (PhP 255) was cooked with flavorful minced tofu, tomatoes, green olives, raisins, and fried bananas with red rice. It was topped with fried egg but that’s optional for vegans. I loved that the plating was artfully prepared, and the combination of ingredients in this dish was both hearty and comforting.
Decided to go for a vegetarian lunch on Sunday and ordered 3 dishes from Corner Tree for home delivery.
Spinach and Mushroom Lasagna was light and delightful. The cheeses added a lot of flavor to this dish. Koftas in Tomato Sauce was very good too - the balls made with cauliflower and cabbage were surprisingly delicious with a crispy texture and they were doused in a tangy tomato sauce. Bowl of Chili with red beans, mushrooms and zucchini was great with corn bread.
Makes me want to go vegetarian once a week! About Php 1,250 for 2 with some food left over for the morrow.
It's refreshing to find delicious organic vegetarian food in a city full of meat. The menu is amazing, you've got to try the dumplings!! Staff are very kind and look after you. 👌
Hungry and looking for some healthy and guilt free food? Well, if you're around Jupiter Street in Makati, you can try out Corner Tree Cafe Vegetarian Food. The restaurant is located at 150 Jupiter Street corner Saturn Street and it is really actually in the corner with a tree. I visited the place when I was touring some friends in the area. It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant we're supposed to have dinner was closed. I recommended this place since one of my officemate have been here.
Easily my favorite restaurant in the Philippines simply because it's all Vegetarian (non-meat) which is a rarity here.
Many VEGAN choices too including non-dairy Ice-Cream (Again a rarity here)!
Highly recommend this place for cruelty-free, HEALTHY dining!
Corner Tree Cafe is a nice little vegetarian restaurant along Jupiter Street. The place has low ceilings and a homey feel to it. Lots of food bloggers have raved about the restaurant so I really wanted to give it a try.
The Corner Tree Starter Plate (Php 220) it has veggies and bread along with Dukka and White Bean Hummus. The veggies were carrot, cucumber, and turnip served cold and crisp. The bread was some kind of wheat, surprisingly soft (cause they look kind of like croutons) The hummus was delicious! Mild flavors and smooth texture. Dukka is an Egyptian snack, which is pretty much a mix of toasted sesame seeds and spices. First you dip the veggies or bread in the olive oil then the Dukka. It has a fresh taste and gives a nice surprise in terms of texture.
Picture
The Spinach Feta Croquettes (Php 185 for 3, Php 340 for 6) they were much smaller than I thought they would be, but they were good. The cover is made of light filo pastry reminiscent of a croissant. A bit forgettable for me.
The Quinoa Salad (Php 220 for solo, Php 380 for sharing) the salad had grilled asparagus, organic greens, feta cheese and sunflower seeds. I liked the varied textures in the dish as well as the tanginess of the dressing. The asparagus was a little too soft for my liking-- I was hoping that the asparagus would be crunchier.
Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Corner Tree. Next time, I'll probably try the veggie burger and lasagna. Also, the hummus is a must! I'd most definitely return for that :)
A nice restaurant for vegetarians. They have good ambience. Food is good but portion is small. If you are cheese lover then go for mushroom cheese lasagne. It is amazing. The food is light and filling.
I ate here once and food is good. Just one thing though. Vegan means no animal by products. Eggs are chicken by products. I see eggs on the menu. Maybe vegetarian is the right word to use. Ovo vegetarian since egg is optional here.
Before wholesome table, before those veg resto, there was corner tree cafe. Great alternative if you are looking for healthy and diet food to cleanse your body. Price is just right for what you are eating.
Im no vegetarian but whenever i feel like eating light good i would think of corner tree. I love the quiet old world feel . I enjoy their soup, falafel and the arroz ala cubana.
.
I'm not a vegetarian and would not pretend to be one, but I definitely enjoyed their food. I always make it a point to visit Corner Tree whenever I feel like eating healthy. My favorite is their Veg Kare Kare and Spaghettini with Broccoli and Toasted Nuts. Everything is great from food to ambiance. Though it's a bit pricey, it's worth it. Personal experience posted in my blog.
Its really hard to get a seat here. I love their lasagna, it doesn't taste like veggies. We also ordered a burger which tastes like a meat. Price is a bit high but maybe because they serve organically grown.
I've passed by this location a couple of times before when I was in the neighborhood. I've heard generally good things about this place from my friends so I decided to give the place a try today.
Corner Tree Cafe has a constantly revolving menu, but fret not, because everything here is crafted to perfection reminiscent of your mother's kitchen, with an environment just as peaceful and loving.
Every morsel here is seasoned to impress diners. They have managed to combine the best flavours of both Filipino and Western cuisines to create an extraordinary fare equally palatable to everyone. The Quinoa and Mediterranean salads are my favorite! The Quinoa salad has organic greens, grilled asparagus, and feta cheese. Everything was fairly light and not heavy tasting, which is good, considering how much they heap onto your plate.
The Thai Veg Curry was just slightly spicy and salty - which paired great with the Vegan Verde Toast (Vegan pesto olive oil, olives, and capers baked on a Cibatta bread). The best part is that they have managed to make the food light and non greasy while still retaining the taste, making this a perfect place to hit up for lunch.
Corner Tree Cafe is a true hidden gem, nestled in Makati City. This unassuming restaurant offers top notch healthy food made with love at prices fit for a pauper's wallet. This is a great place to go for a date, lunch on the go, or just to relax from the heat. It's a wonderful experience for anyone wishing to escape the bustling streets of Makati and enjoy some vegan, gluten-free, organic, and vegetarian grub.
If youre considering going total vegan then this is your place to go! A small corner cafe which has big offers when it comes to variety and taste. For appetizer had the spinach feta croquettes and adobo tofu and bibimbap for mains. Also tried their Veg Nut Roast (christmas special that made it to the main menu). Good food good meals and dont forget to make reservations esp Sunday :)
Ate here the nth time and I still love it. Although I'm not a health buff, I enjoy their dishes, desserts and the ambiance of the place itself. I ordered the Veg Nut Roast and I liked the meatloaf - with bits of nuts inside, the gravy, mashed potatoes and carrots and beans that had sort of a sweet caramel sauce (I don't normally eat beans. :)) )
The salted caramel cake was also good, it was very filling and not too sweet. I did not feel guilty after eating it.
I'll definitely visit Cornertree again soon!!
Food is very tasty despite it being vegetarian. My go to meal here is the arroz ala cubana. It's a tofu dish with tomatoes and raisins served with rice, egg, and fried banana. Another favorite is their vegetarian panini served with sweet potato fried on the side. Definitely a must try for people who are trying to be healthy. Dishes are cooked with olive oil and are msg free.
More improvement though on their servers since they tend to be grumpy most of the time. They need more customer engagement and smiles on their faces.
This is a cool place to spend your Sunday evening, which is what we did. This is really not in our plans but since the Thai restaurant that we are supposed to eat out is closed I recommended this restaurant to my Thai friends. I actually heard a lot about Corner Tree Cafe from one of my officemates. The restaurant serves vegan dishes with lots of variety.
For our visit we decided to get the Corner Tree Starter Plate, Vegetable Dumplings, Arroz ala Cubana, Thai Veg Curry, Kare Kareng Gulay and Orange and Lemon Sorbet. The starter plate is made up of chunks of crunchy wheat bread, olive oil dip, humus, carrots, singkamas and zucchinis with sesame seeds. This is a good starter when waiting for your dish to be served. You can also start with their vegetable dumplings which is made of shiitake mushrooms. The dumplings is really good I can eat it with my rice. It didn't take a while before we got our orders. One of my highlights here is their vegetable kare kare and I would really recommend this one. I love kare kare and even though this is all vegan, the dish is very tasty especially with their bagoong. The thai curry on the other is creamy and not that spicy neither did it have that very strong curry flavor. The arroz a la cubana is a perfect meal on its own with slices of fried bananas on the side. To wrap our meal up we decided to get their Orange and Lemon Sorbet which is non dairy. It is like shaved iced with this natural juice flavor.
Overall, the place is good if you're looking for a twist on your regular food cravings. The restaurant serves healthy options for your satisfaction. The place is very relaxing if you're on your own and a good place to dine and have chitchat with your friends. The place has a dim lighting maybe for the ambiance and a bit small dining area inside, which is good if you wanted a peaceful hangout place. 👍🏻
We passed by this small vegetarian café on our way home. Since we are already done with our dinner we opted to try their coffee, we had Cappucino, Latte & Salted Caramel Chocolate Torte. The café is a little bit small but theirs is this welcoming appeal. I love their cake and would definitely go back to try their dishes.
They serve great coffee and cakes. Ambiance is really nice, we went here around 8PM and although it looks really dark inside, it feels cozy and quiet and our stay was really pleasant. They also serve many healthy food, even ice cream and cakes are vegan.
My friends and I were searching for something different and healthy at the same time. We chose Corner Tree Cafe because the menu is full of healthy items. And it lived up to our expectations. The experience was pretty awesome.
👍 Greek Spinach Filo Triangles - light, tasty, savory. There's a twist in there we couldn't point out. Lemon? Dayap?
👍 Arroz a la Cubana - perfect! The serving size is good for two. But I finished it by myself. (Just shared a few spoonfuls with my friends and they agreed it was awesome.) It's big on the tummy but I felt less guilty because it's meatless. 😊
👍 Vegetable Bibimbap - oooh so yummy! My friend got this one for herself but we all tried it too. I'm getting this one next time. Again, it's too much for one stomach. There's so much red rice underneath the crispy veggies.
👍 Sweet Potato Fries - this comes with their burger but we just couldn't get enough of it so we ordered one separately.
👍 Desserts!!! First, Banoffee Pie -- not too sweet, not too heavy but just enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. Second, and we liked this one much more, Salted Caramel Chocolate Torte. The texture is soft, creamy but firm and sticky just right. Sweetness level -- awesome! You just got to have one more bite even when your tummy says "it's been a nice dinner!"
OVERALL: food is great without a doubt. Place is cozy; dim lights add a homey touch. We liked the bamboo straw for the all-natural and
healthy but delicious Guyabano Juice as well! (We even took the bottles because they were really cute! We wanted the bamboo straws too but were too shy to ask if we could take them home too 😕) It gave our dinner table a more natural and organic feel.
I forgot to mention this though it's equally important as the food: customer service was really great. Everyone in the crew was attentive. Filled our glasses with water whenever it's half-filled. Chatted with us like we were friends of theirs. Two thumbs up for the crew!
Why I can't be a vegetarian - meat is fabulous.
But Corner Tree Cafe seriously makes you consider. Their dishes are all so tasty, meaty, hearty... That you don't miss the meat AT ALL.
And it's not the gross stuff - when I was a vegetarian a few years back, I used to eat weird meat substitutes like seitan and lots of boring tofu.
Corner Tree Cafe brings you awesomely treated produce, shows you different sides of the usual vegetables, and you really see how much thought and love they put into developing each dish from scratch.
Must try the Spinach and Mushroom lasagna - the cheese makes it filling, the mushrooms make it meaty, and the spinach and tomatoes keep it fresh and bright!
The asparagus and Gruyere panini is wonderful too. So simple yet it really fills your soul with happiness.
One of the revelations was, for their veggie kare-kare, instead of using regular bagoong - their vegetarian version is using fermented black bean paste! Yum. Flavor is different but it hits the salty, pickled umami that you need to cut the richness of the kare-kare. Which they make with homemade peanut butter too!
Must order the banoffee pie for dessert. You all deserve a sinful reward for giving your body a good time.
Corner Tree Cafe have that bookstore feel, where you may want to spend your leisure time with a good book and drink. They have a wide array of home cooked vegetarian dishes which will make you want to think twice if you are really at a vegetarian restaurant.
For starters, we tried their Japanese Seaweed Salad with Soy Ginger dressing, a sampler set of their Vegetable Dumpling and Spinach and Feta Croquette. As for their main entrees, we also had a sampler set of their Grilled Asparagus Panini, Spinach and Mushroom Lasagna, Chili san Carne with Cornbread and Vegetarian Kare Kare with Bagoong. With Corner Tree Cafe, they take pride of their desserts, Their selection is sinfully sweet, the best way to cap a good hearty meal. We tried their Banofee Pie and Chocolate Mousse with Dark Toblerone.
Overall, Corner Tree Cafe makes palatable vegetarian dishes that will make non-vegetarians do a double take. You won't notice that you're eating less because their food is good and filling.
Last Thursday, I was invited to try Corner Tree Cafe along Jupiter St. cor. Saturn. I have driven by Jupiter several times recently but never noticed this quaint little corner cafe. It’s right next door to The Aristocrat, in case you plan on visiting (you should!). ABOUT CORNER TREE CAFE. With all the new restaurants aiming to look glitzy and glamorous, Corner Tree Cafe’s aesthetics are unapologetically eclectic, rich and cozy with warm woods, artwork and world culture accents. I’d be happy to spend a whole afternoon here, just reading!
Corner Tree Cafe’s vegetarian dishes go so much beyond lettuce and celery, they’ve opened up a whole new world of expectations for me in terms of what vegetarian food is. Corner Tree Cafe’s dishes taste like regular food – but very good regular food, I-can’t-believe-it’s-vegetarian level excellent!
Corner Tree Cafe uses real food – no processed foods and no vegemeat/TVP meat replacements, either. They also serve Vegan and Sugarfree options, too!
THE FOOD
We started our meal with a plate of Vegetable Dumpling and Spinach Feta Croquette. The Vegetable Dumplings are P150 for an order of 5 pcs, while the Spinach Feta Croquettes are P190 for 3 pcs, or P345 for 6 pcs.
The Vegetable Dumpling reminds me so much of Xiao Long Pao. It is made with Shiitake mushrooms, spinach, carrots & jicama, but it tastes so hearty, I’d swear there was meat in there! The dumpling wrapper was also resilient and absorbed the flavors of the filling! This is excellent!
This is Corner Tree Cafe’s Bowl of Chili served with corn bread. A regular order (P305) is 5 times as much as this small serving (this was a tasting session).
I can eat this chili all day! It tastes a bit like minestrone. It has red beans, Shiitake mushrooms, zucchini, corn kernels in a sweet, natural tomato sauce. The mushroom takes the place of the meat and provides that earthy heartiness. This is a very light dish even though it’s chili. It is delicious, so there’s no need to feel guilty if you want to eat more than your fair share of this chili!
Some people love the cornbread – I love the toasted crunchy parts, but I prefer the cornbread to be a tiny bit sweeter.
Spinach & Mushroom Lasagna (left on the pic) – I really wouldn’t mind eating this even if I never eat another meat lasagna again. The lasagna is compact – the mozzarella provides nuttiness and heaviness that I hardly notice that there’s no meat. Despite not having any meat, this lasagna is absolutely addictive.
Finally, we were served Kare-Kareng Gulay with organic Red Rice (P215). You must try their vegetarian bagoong! It’s made from fermented black beans (tausi).
This Kare-Kare is one of my favorites because they put so much peanut! This Kare-Kare is sweet & very peanut-y, with a thick sauce, just the way I like it! People who don’t like bagoong might be easier to convince to try this Tausi Bagoong instead. They were able to make it taste very close to bagoong, but without the fishiness. Of course, it still tastes a bit like fermented black beans
For dessert, we were served their Banoffee Pie (P165/slice) and Chocolate Mousse with Dark Toblerone (P220).
These were good! Aside from these, Corner Tree Cafe also carries several brands of non-dairy ice cream.
For drinks, I ordered the Organic Lemongrass Iced Tea (P99). In line with sustainable living, Corner Tree Cafe uses bamboo straws! (Sorry for the blurry picture, it was too dark to get a decent pic).
SUMMARY
Corner Tree Cafe has cured any phobia I may have had about going vegetarian – the food is delicious and hearty!
Price-wise, it’s in the same range other mid-to-high end establishments. You might think that it should be cheaper because it doesn’t use meat, but remember that vegetarian dishes like these are harder to prepare. There is so much prep work needed for one delicious vegetarian dish! It is worth it though if you have the money to spare and if you really want to make a difference in terms of supporting sustainable living, healthy eating and other vegetarian-related philosophies.
This restaurant is not just for vegetarians, but also welcomes meat lovers to try their dishes. Meat lovers (like me!) end up loving Corner Tree Cafe’s food! Why not do something different and give it a try? Their food is really amazing!
Who said vegan food is boring and tasteless? Definitely not at Corner Tree Cafe. Situated strategically yet cozily at Jupiter St, Bel-Air Makati City, corner tree is a classic example of "there's something more on the inside".
An impression of a quaint country cottage in bustling Makati will greet you once you enter its' door. The decor isn't flashy and will make you so comfy, you'd think you can just "come as you are." For writers who are looking for a quiet place, this is the perfect spot.
The Food:
For appetizers, we tried vegetable dumplings, spinach and feta croquettes and japanese seaweed salad - I repeat, I am easily pleased with food but since I prefer my meal with meat, I was surprised that I enjoyed the appetizers sans the meat that I am so used to. The vegetable dumpling tasted like real dumpling without meat, there's a sour, tangy aftertaste, maybe because of the sauce but really, it added some personality to their own version of dumpling. The seaweed salad brought me back to my recent Mindoro getaway. Not my favorite though.
For entrees:
Grilled asparagus panini, kare-kareng gulay, bowl of chili with cornbread and spinach and mushroom lasagna - now, I'll tell you why the seaweed salad isn't my favorite, because the entrees' oh my, the entrees are all so delicious! They put a healthier twist to my favorite dishes and I enjoyed it to my heart's content!
For dessert:
Chocolate Mousse with dark toblerone was good but the banoffee pie had me dancing with gastronomic delight! It was sweet, soft like ice cream and the banana added the perfect taste to a somewhat common dessert. I guess, it's the coco sugar. I never liked coco sugar but if used to make this banoffee delight, i already love it!
I realized, i'm not so averse to vegan meals at all! So i am definitely coming back and I'll bring the whole family along!
Healthy, tasty vegetarian food, with a little guilty pleasure for dessert. Don't miss the Spaghettini with Broccoli and Toasted Nuts! Full review is on Gourmet Getaways website.
I was intrigued when I saw their Chocolate Mousse with Dark Toblerone on their menu. I wondered if I would really be back for more of that. When it was served, it looked like two scoops of chocolate ice cream was given to me. But when I bit into it, the cream shined through. It wasn’t at all sweet that yes, it’s gonna have you coming back for more. It was creamy yet retained its dense form. Topped with some roasted almond bits, this mousse will surely be on my list when I head back.
Of course I had to pair my dessert with some coffee. Even though I already had two cups that day, I still needed an extra jolt of caffeine to my system. I decided to go for their latte just to be more on the milky side. This was served with a side of brown sugar but my cup didn’t need any. It was good all on its own. The foam was quite rich on this which makes it look lovely in a raw kind of coffee way. This was a good pair to my semi-sweet dessert.
Quaint and charming, this corner sure is the perfect setting for intimate dates or casual get-together with friends.
It was my first time to visit the place and I was quite satisfied with their food. I love the fact they serve healthy dishes. The ambiance was very nice and the interior was amazing. The only downside was just the waiting time - It was a bit long.
The menu is innovative because Corner Tree Café usually whips up new recipes every week/every so often, which gives customers the opportunity to taste new flavors. Also, this restaurant embraces a diverse culture because not all dishes come from one culture. There's Indian, Greek, Filipino, Mexican, Japanese, Korean, American-- you name it. One of the dishes that I will never forget is the Vegetarian Bibimbap, a Korean rice dish. It tastes authentic and is absolutely a recommended dish for newcomers to the restaurant. I love this place because the ambience is intimate (at night, they provide you with candle-lit dinners). Here's a downside: the place gets packed sometimes and it may come to the point that you have to find another restaurant. Corner Tree Café is a small place, and since it is quite well known, the parking and occupancy gets quite stuffy. But don't let it bother you because they take reservations.
I love goin back to this place because their food is both tasty yet unpretentiously vegan. My go to order is the lasagna, but if im missing local Filipino food, they do it very well, vegan style. Service is always great too.
Not a vegetarian and not even planning on being one, but this resto made me think twice!!! Haha! Lasagna's the best! Their starters are awesome (something that starts with f) Try It!!! Lemon Lassi's damn good.
PS: Just don't eat a lot of salted caramel torte. REALLY SALTY!!! :)
Just back after my first meal at this place. Until today I was in impression that you can't get good vegetarian food in Manila. It can't get better than this. Small, cozy, clean and above all, delicious veg food. If u are going with 5+ pax make sure you make prior reservation. My wife wants to go back soon to try other dishes on the menu.
Quite amazed that something vegan would actually taste so good. This little nook on the corner of Jupiter Street in Makati is a great restaurant to visit if you're thinking of exploring organic and plant-based food. Two thumbs up for their excellent dishes and service.
Good food. It's nice that they made traditional Filipino dishes accessible for vegans and vegetarians. My boyfriend who has never tried Filipino food before was able to try kare-kare (with vegan bagoong!), lumpia, arroz ala cubana (no egg) without sacrificing the taste of it's authenticity. I was very impressed.
Would love to try their brunch on Sundays as well.
Whenever I visit a vegetarian restaurant, I somehow half expect the waitstaff to be mild-mannered and all smiley and stuff, and that usually is the case. Corner Tree is no exception. On different occasions, I've tried their kare-kare, Chili and Teriyaki Tofu. They were all good. And on one particularly stressful day with a difficult client, I thought I'd seek refuge here, absorb all the positive vibes I could and indulge in some comforting food. That did it for me, so I decided to indulge in some coffee as well.
If you're looking for a refreshing place with healthy selections, this would be a place to go. Although they didn't have the desserts I wanted, but a good experience nevertheless.
