One of the best way to bond with the family is to dine in a favorite restaurant, especially if a member is celebrating a birthday. A few months back (yes another late post), we went to Mesa Restaurant’s SM Pampanga branch to celebrate our li’l sis’ birthday. Meet the squad. Fantastic place! The food is cheap and there are many different types of dishes - shrimp, crab, pork, beef, fish, etc. the place is almost always full. It makes sense why though. The salted egg white shrimp was okay but the shrimp didn’t taste too fresh. I wish the service would be a little faster and there are more vegetable options. The protein was awesome but the veggies were lacking.

Filipinos are admittedly “foodies” in nature. We love cooking, we love trying out unusual dishes, we eat out and get inspirations from different foreign cuisines we love. In fact, people from around the world are starting to fall in love with our Pinoy food favorites as well. How cool is that?

They serve good Filipino food. Good place to have lunch with your officemates during Fridays too, but be there early else you'll dine outside the airconditioned area, or you'll have to wait. Dont have any bad experiences yet with the service.

Great filipino food! The staff immediately assisted us upon entering the restaurant. We got the kare kare, pusit in olive oil and a grill platter. Overall the serving time was ok and the food was great. Good choice if you want filipino comfort food.

each dish was amaziiing! like delish, omfg im not even pullin’ your leg, bible!

my earlier encounter w/ mesa was meh but on the second chance, it sure did redeem itself.

started w/ the sisig pockets, best to share ‘coz if wolf this down own your own, your palatte will ask for something to break that richness. the first bite was pleasing, then w/ their pinakurat (spiced vinegar) it was a spectacular that i had to have rice w/ it, haha.

got their best selling liempo, though i wanted it to be more charred, it’s packed w/ flavors that’ll jusy want to make u love mesa more and then i got the drunken ostrich. if you’re not tuitioned, you’d think it’s meat. was a tad salty, hence the need for rice.

finally for dessert, i had the saba con yielo customised as i asked for the langka and macapuno ice cream set foot atop that mountain of icy goodness of sweet saba and cloud like shaved milk ice that was a glorious ending to one fantastic meal.

If you've got expats or foreigner friends who would like to taste Filipino food, this is the place. We ordered the Set meal, Package 3.

The shrimp in salted egg was everyone's favorite, given that there is also this salted egg fad going around.

My favorite: The Crispy Boneless Tilapia. It was nicely fried so it was crispy on the outside but still soft and tender on the inside. Also, the Stuffed Squid. It was big and had had a nice crispy batter outside which provided the crunch.

A great place to eat filipino food. Tried out the bbq mixed platter. I prefer the bbq pork instead of the chicken. The meat is more juicy. Paired the bbq with sinigang. The sinigang was totally unique. It's the first time I've seen sinigang cooked with pineapple and guava. Oddly it worked out well. Can't help but to order seconds.

It’s undeniable: I’m a lover of Filipino food. Sinigang, Kare-Kare, Sisig, Caldereta — name it. The aroma, the exquisite taste, the intense craving despite its “unhealthiness” at times, and the feeling of hospitality whenever you enter a good Filipino restaurant.

In Filipino vocabulary, “Mesa” simply means “table”. Table where we dine, usually with the family, and talk about how we’ve been.

Baked Scallops - First of all, the Scallops Plate was a bit of a disappointment. Not because it doesn’t taste good, but because of the small serving. It did taste terrific — the combination of well-melted cheese and scallops was lovely — but with every shell you practically don’t get anything. Then again, I remembered it’s just part of the Appetizer menu. It is still a must to order it, that is, if you are not hungry.

Beef Kare-Kare - was heavenly. Big serving and very authentic taste. I didn’t like the Bagoong much, but it’s still not so bad. The sauce was to die for. This is absolutely a must-try, and I’m sure you won’t regret it.

Crispy Boneless Tilapia served with Four Sauces - Mesa tried to give a little twist to this Tilapia dish where they took the meat off the bones and deep-fried the breaded meat. The dish was served alongside with four sauces, where one was bagoong, and the others tasted like different kinds of vinegars. Not really as much as expected – I do not like breaded Tilapia because it doesn’t taste like Tilapia anymore.

Crispy Boneless Pata - It was quite small for the price. But the taste is mind-blowing! What Mesa put on our table is a remarkable experience more than just a dish – a Crispy Boneless Pata smothered with flavorful fried garlic and chili bits that just made it extra special. And inside? Imagine poking a fork to this and seeing juices coming out? Hey, it may not be healthy, but why order a Crispy Pata if you want healthy?

We had their set meal good for 10-12 people. The food all tasted well although they are a bit pricey. I would recommend dining al fresco as it can get crowded and noisy indoors.

Mesa’s KareKare and Sinigang is the best!!! The food serving per dish might be for 3 to 4 people only. Since the the food are very yummy, we dont mind. Hope they will add new dishes on the menu for us to try.

Excellent choice for flavorful Filipino cuisine in the Shangri-la Mall.  I highly recommend the shrimps in salted egg sauce, as well as the tofu sisig.  The crispy pata is good as well.  The food is inexpensive yet plentiful, so it's a great deal.  Add in the superb service from the friendly staff and this makes Mesa my go-to place for Filipino food in the Shangri-la Mall...   Helpful tip, though: If you're planning to eat here on Saturday or Sunday, try to book ahead or come early.  The place is packed with churchgoers coming from the Padre Pio chapel in the mall...  I honestly don't even normally like Filipino cuisine, but Mesa has made me a fan... :)

I went here together with my friends, we weren’t seated immediately since there were several customers during our visit. We ordered the 2-way lechon which we really enjoyed. We also ordered their sisig which was very crispy and delicious. It’s a bit pricey but the overall experience was really good especially because they really prepare your food right in front of you.

It was my first time to try Mesa with my friends and the first thing we noticed was their interior which really gives off a Filipino vibe. We ordered their sisig and crispchon. The crispchon was quite pricey but it was worth it since it was served two ways; wrapped in pandan crepe and tossed in chili garlic. The food was really good but the crispchon tossed in chili garlic had too many bones which made it difficult to eat.

Attentive service and good food. I wasn't a big lover of Filipino food due to my biasness on that Filipino food is generally too salty for my taste, and that they are usually less spiced (compared to food from Indonesia Thailand Malaysia and Singapore). But I enjoyed Mesa for its fried fish and gising gising. Would love to try more Filipino food after this.

Enjoyed our late lunch at Mesa Greenbelt 5 branch. We decided to sit outside because there was a list for inside dining. Our food came faster than the 15 minute promise which is a huge plus. Ordered the BBQ Honey Patis Chicken and the Laing 2 Ways. The Laing 2 Ways, looked almost the same except for the smoky flavor the other which we enjoyed. The Chicken was good but hardly tasted the Honey and Patis flavor. Service was Great, Water refills are quick without asking. The outside area had huge fans which helped cool down the place. Recommended with family and balikayan friends.

We went here on May 19, Saturday for a dinner. We were 3rd on queue as we wanted to be inside the dining area rather than outside. The receptionist was very approachable and she keeps on updating us whenever someone bills out. We waited approx 20mins I guess.

Ambiance
- It's not as cozy as i expected. It was just a simple, plain dine in area. The place is too crowded and noisy maybe because of the number of people during that time.

Staff
- They are all nice. I can't complain. They immediately give attention whenever we need something.

Food
- We ordered Karekare, laing2ways, tofu sisig, hito flakes and pinatayong manok; also bottomless iced tea for our thirst quencher. The presentation of kare-kare is not so good, but once you eat it woowww it tastes really good :) What i love most is their tofu sisig that only costs 150pesos and is good for sharing :)

This is a long one! I had 3 experiences and here goes:

My mom loves Crispy Pata - unhealthy but it was her birthday :) - while my sister was craving for Kare-Kare. We've tried many restaurants' version of these dishes and Mesa's was certainly unique.

When mom heard Crispy Boneless Pata, she was sold. And it didn't disappoint her.
The Kare-Kare looked pale and tad too thick, yet surprisingly good like the bagoong that was with it.
We also had Palabok. We wondered about the pieces of kamias in it, then mom said that's one of original ingredients seldom left out. We were impressed!
The Pinakbet with Bangus Belly had a disappointingly small serving, but it was delish.

We had lunch late, around 0240ish. There were still lot of customers but manageable crowd. As this is the third time I've been here, timing is one thing you have to think about when going.

My first time was middle of dinner rush that we were cramped in a corner and had hard time getting attention. I had the ostrish meat which I could have enjoyed better in a more relaxed setting. I was with my husband, and though the food was good, he wasn't impressed with the service.

My second time was better. I was catching up with friends so the wait time of 20 was barely noticeable. Our table were better situated. Servers were still rushing all over the place but at least it was easier to get thier attention.

With these 3 experiences, I'll say Mesa is better enjoyed with family or big group of friends. That's just thier atmosphere - delicious comfort food for Filipinos.

I like their Kare-kare, ang lambot ng beef, and the peanut sauce is malapot. Sisig rice is good too but I think its not a good combination for Kare-kare. Crispy Baby Squid is yummy too, my mom thought its just an appetizer because of the fish chips siguro😅

This, for me, is one of the best in terms of Filipino fusion cuisine. I love the creative dishes Mesa serves, so it’s always a struggle choosing what to order. One item that I never ever forget to order is the fried Tilapia with four sauces (forgot what it’s called). It’s my all-time fave; my kind of comfort food.❤️This is a restaurant I won’t hesitate to recommend to friends and relatives!

I was finding a place where to treat my relatives from California that is near the condo they are living in and long and behold Mesa is the solution. Cheaper and quality food from their grill sampler, sisig and tawilis with a twist that really looked like and appetizer. One should try to have their Sinigang sa bangus with bayabas and pineapple, it's a new twist than the traditional tamarind. We also agreed on the two way laing that is really good. I think I will be definitely back if I indeed crave for some really good Filipino food.

The Olive Oil Stir-Fried Baby Squid is the signature dish of this restaurant and was seen on almost every table around me . The Pomelo Salad mixed with coconut milk and peanut crumbs was an unforgettable experience. The Boneless Deep-Fried Tilapia with Four Sauces reflected the skills of the kitchen team of this restaurant.
Despite its visual simplicity, the Sisig Blue Marlin Belly was exquisitely tasty. The Olive Oil Baby Squids was irresistible to me so I ordered it again this time.
Came back again a year later. Still craved Baby Squids in Olive Oil and Deep Fried Boneless Tilapia.
The Beef Rendang is really a must-try. This festive dish coming from West Sumatra, Indonesia has another "stage pose" here at this restaurant.

Meeting with three friends based overseas, Pinoy cuisine seemed to be the best dining choice. They have their own versions of popular Filipino dishes which are quite ok but the prices are on the high side. But it feels good to dine in style once in a while. Too bad I came in late so I was only to take pictures of the last two items that we ordered. The service in this branch can still improve. There's too many staff on the floor but did not translate to speed of service.

Had a lunch meeting here with a foreign boss who wants to try Filipino dishes. The taste quality of the food is great. We were just a bit disappointed on the serving portions. We ordered, Kare-kare, Shrimp in Salted Egg sauce, Sisig, and Baked Tahong. The staff said it was good for 2-3 persons but when every item of the food was served, I think it was only good for a single person. We all agree!

An amazing dining experience await for Filipino food lovers, balik-bayans, families, friends, and comrades who are just after amazing Pinoy cusine, made with a modern touch.

The Salo-Salo Set Meal is a mix of Mesa's well-known dishes and Filipino specialties. This set costs Php2,500.00. For CitiBank card holders, a special treat awaits you! You can only avail this meal for only Php1,750.00 only! This promo can be availed up until September 30!

The meal is composed of the following:

Baked Scallops
-garlicky and light! I just hope that the scallops weren't cut into smaller pieces. It would be best if they kept it whole. I still love how the sweet notes of the scallops itself balances the entire dish. A great starter to this amazing meal. :)
Mangga Salad
-an amazing blend of tangy green mangoes that acts as a great palate cleanser.
Steamed Okra with Tamarind Bagoong
Adobo Flakes Rice
Whole Boneless Pata
-a crowd favorite! I loved how juicy it is on the inside while it was still crisp on the skin!
Sinigang na Hipon
Laing Two Ways
-one is on the dried side compared to the other, which is normally how we have it. The dried preparation has more concentrated flavors than the one prepared a bit moist. Both are cooked in coconut cream as usual, but a more concentrated flare comes from the dried version.
Mango Pannacota
4 glasses of Iced Tea

MESA is a restaurant which has combined the best of Filipino cuisine with healthy dose of class and fusion. Our crawl with Citibank had us try their promo with one of their set meals. The original value of P2500 will now be reduced to P 1750 with the use of a Citibank card until Sept 30. This set includes 7 dishes. The Boneless Crispy Pata was their flagship dish. It was deep fried to perfection with garlic and seasoning. The Sinigang with hipon had a flavorful soup. The Baked scallops was pretty fresh. While it lacked more flavor, the scallops were fresh. The Laing was for the adventurous. It came with a really spicy sauce. The Okra and the Ensaladang Mangga was for veggie lovers. We then ended the meal with Mango Pannacotta. The pudding was soft and tasty. All these came with a glass of iced tea.

I truly enjoyed this experience.

Filipino cuisine has so much potential to be out there in the bigger world stage and Mesa provides a really good platform for really good Pinoy food. If you want to impress your foreign guest on Pinoy food, this is a good option.

And if you’re a Citibank Card holder, you can even have this sumptuous meal set for just P1,750 (originally P2,500) until September 30, 2017.
• Boneless Pata
• Sinigang na Hipon
• Baked Scallops
• Adobo Flakes Rice
• Laing 2-ways
• Steamed Okra with Tamarind Bagoong Dip
• Mango Salad
• Mango Panna Cotta

The boneless pata is nicely crackling and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The soy-vinegar dip is the perfect complement to the meat and skin. More rice please!

The sinigang is just the right kind of sour for the shrimp. It actually makes the shrimp taste more sweet. The baked scallops were a tad overcooked for me but it was a good appetizer and seasoned quite well. I couldn’t quite decide which laing version I liked better - the dry or the wet one - in laing 2 ways, because they were both very delicious. And even if it looked simple, I loved the okra with the bagoong dip. It did remind me of weekends at home and it’s just as yummy with the adobo-flakes rice. Sadly, I couldn’t partake the dessert but my friends enjoyed them very much.

Mesa Greenbelt has been closed for sometime for renovation and has just re-opened more than a month ago. They have a max number of allowed reservations for the day so they only accept walk-ins when we inquired there. So right after the mass, we went there immediately for lunch.

I usually like the Baked Scallops with Garlic Butter but the one we had was lacking in the buttery taste. The Baked Tahong was also not cheesy enough and it was a bit spicy. The Kare-Kare Oxtail was forgettable although I like its peanut sauce. Grilled Liempo and Tinapa Rice will always be a favorite of mine. We also had the Crispy Boneless Tilapia - we also enjoyed this dish so much.

One half Crispchon (2 ways) - two waitresses chopped and prepared the meat like a peking duck, except in malunggay wrapper (I thought it was pandan crepe-like what it says on the menu, but the waitress said it was malunggay); the remaining meat was tossed in chili garlic
Both dishes were delicious, though it took some time for them to serve it. Sauces were delicious too.

Grilled Giant Squid - tasty and tender

Laing 2 Ways - I couldn't differentiate the ways on how it was cooked. I thought one is dry, while the other is wet/creamy. I just found out now it was supposed to be Original and Crispy. Nonetheless, it was one (or two) of the best laings I've ever tasted.

Sinigang na Baboy sa Bayabas at Pinya (or whatever you call it) - simple and delicious; it was my first time eating sinigang that has pineapples haha

Mesa Filipino Moderne is always a safe place to enjoy Filipino food. Prices are quite affordable for quality filipino dishes. We had the Sisig, Sinigang na Salmon, and Crispy Leche Flan today, and we really enjoyed all the dishes!

Service was spectacular, they were very nice and accommodating. The place was comfortable and homey and the design goes quite well with Filipino food.

We enjoyed! More on my blog post soon!

Great place to hold get togethers with friends and family. I love their Crispchon and Bam I. Their tinapa wrap with lettuce is also something to taste here. If you're really into filipino food, you should include Mesa in your list because their price is also competitive given the quality of food and taste.

This was a very last minute decision because we originally had a reservation and we pre ordered our lunch at Rub in Makati. Due to an unfortunate issue wee had to move...

Nevertheless, we ended up here since majority of our guests are foreign and loves Filipino food.

We ordered the following:
1. Garlic chicken- it was amazing! I love sweet good! It was the right crunch with the right glaze.
2. Braised beef- it was definitely soft and the taste was great! I was surprised.
3. Inihaw platter- this was great because you get 5 different grilled things.
4. Laing- this was a favorite for all! It was yummy!
5. Fried Tilapia with 4 different sauces- this is my personal favorite! I never go to Mesa and not order it.

The resto itself was pretty hot tho! I think it's pretty normal....

The staff and the manager was fantastic and they were able to manage our last minute order. By the way we were a group of 40!!!

Thank you to Mess GB!

There's no better way to make it up to your friends after not seeing each other for a while than to share it over a mouthful dinner with endless chitchat as your desserts.

So here now, we decided to try Mesa in Greenbelt because according to our friend who wasn't able to come with us, Mesa is a nice restaurant with reasonable pricelist.

Mesa offers Filipino cuisine with not so much twist- they are serving Filipino food as it is, which I do like. If you are into Filipino cuisine, Mesa is right on the dot.

We ordered their famous inihaw sampler which is good for sharing (4-5 persons), sizzling sisig, garlic barbecue and sinigang na binakol. They are all really good-- the best I've tasted so far under the category of Filipino Cuisine, and yes the price is reasonable. We just got bill of 1,500 and we were 5 persons.

The interior of the place is also good but you cant appreciate it during peak hours especially dinner. The best Mesa I've seen so far is Mesa Megamall in terms of interior and ambiance.

The only bad thing I can comment about this restaurant is that the staff are not that accommodating but we went on Friday and it's payday, there were so many customers so I understood that maybe they were just tired. (Plus I was a little bit off because the Sinigang na Binakol was serve cold, I mean lukewarm).

But overall, Mesa is a teally nice restaurant and recommendable.

As we finished dinner, we were all satisfied and we all said, it was a great choice to choose Mesa.

We brought our expat colleague here to try Filipino food and she was so pleased with every dish she ate. I'm a big fan of Mesa so I'm glad it didn't disappoint us. Her faves were the laing, sinigang and of course, mango shake.👍

Known for their modern take on Filipino favorites, so my expectations for this place was a bit high. The place was clean and staff was efficient. I only wish that they may have a much bigger indoor seating area since it's a bit crowded inside when its a full house. The seating are outside is cool in the evening and hot during lunchtime. So don't eat here for lunch during the summer.

We had the Crispy Pata which is my brother's favorite, and I wanted to try the crispy tilapia with four kinds of dips. I was more intrigued by the four kinds of dip than with the crispy tilapia. But both dishes were good and delicious. We had sisig fried rice and a couple of iced teas.

Mesa provides a great taste of modern Filipino food! Their hito flakes have a great balance of taste, salty yet with a hint of spice that would certainly satisfy your taste buds. Their tofu sisig is a good entree. Their crispy pata and laing go well together as viand for hot white rice. Very affordable . Fast service . Indeed Filipino food at its best! .Definitely worth going back to. I know I would!

Must-try is the Baby Squid in Olive Oil! 👍 However, it took them so long to serve the dish such that it came at the time when they were already serving dessert!

Aside from the squid, I also liked their Kare-Kare and the bagoong that came with it. Their Adobo Rice and (fried) Tilapia is also good Ü

Their Sinigang na Hipon uses bayabas as its pampaasim and has pineapples in it. I'm not sure if I'm a fan but if you're in for something different, then I would suggest you try this dish.

The scallops was a sad dish though. It was so small I had to dig-in to look for the scallops.

Will I go back to this place? Yes, but I would go there on their off-peak hours to make sure the squid will be served together with the viands and not with the dessert. Ü

One of the best Filipino Restaurants in the Metro. I dined here with my brother and my friends. We had a great experience and definitely love their food selections. 😊

Can't wait to come back here again. 😊
