As an early Valentine's date with my wife we availed of the 50% discount offer from BDO. Its was a sunday lunch and we only paid P2399 plus tax. For the price we paid I'd say i was sulit. Though the buffet spread is not that big the selections were delicious! Plus service here is amazing. I requested my shrimps cooked in garlic butter and they did as requested and well plated (see pic). I made an early trip at the desserts station and requested for an extra crispy crepe. The chef served it at our table extra crispy indeed!!
I liked the buffet here. They served seafoods like crabs, shrimp, and clams. sushi, asian foods, chinese foods, roast beefs and desserts. It was worth the price if there was a discount. I pretty liked there shrimps and the roast beef. But all in all my experience here was good.
The best buffet I’ve been to so far. Nearly everything was good here and my family enjoyed as well. I’d rather go here than back to Spiral. It was worth it here, especially with the discount. The things that I didn’t enjoy as much were the Ebi Tempura (it’s good that they pre-made a lot of it but it wasn’t crunchy or warm anymore) and the dips (baba ghanoush and the one with bell pepper) were way too strong on the garlic and on the bitter side. I think everything else was above average to great. Definitely coming back!
Went here for a dinner buffet on a friday night and the place was very spacious. There was a wide selection of meals and desserts. Something noteworthy is their cheese platter (although it was not much) and their interactive section wherein you can pick some seafood to be cooked according to your liking. Their desserts were also remarkable.
The staff were very courteous and attentive to our requests that night. Great place, ambience, food, and service. :)
Its one of the best hotel buffet in makati , cheaper than the others and have credit card discounts too. The food selection is great specially the desserts. Been here a couple of times when in makati.
Food-lamb,lobsters,shrimp,tempura,salmon and tuna sashimi were the big deal items.there was also tonkatsu, miso soup, vinegared mackarel for the japanese station,a few dimsum items for the chinese station,a filipino station which we didnt try at all,and a huge desert spread.
The garlic butter shrimps were tender and succulent.the garlic butter lobsters were biggest sized ive had in any buffet in the metro so far.those two alone were win
The softdrinks and wine arent included but there were a few fresh juices on tap that day
Im not a desert guy but those who were with me were enormously happy
Staff-they dont have a high headcount but if you come in early enough, they dont serve a lot of other people and can train their eyes on you.you never have to call them to bus stuff away.friendly and patient
Price-had it not been for bdo discount,it probably wouldnt have been worth it.but to be able to enjoy on a weekend is pretty sweet
All in all a great first time here
This hotel buffet is the type where service is much much better than the taste of food. Everyone (chefs, servers, receptionists and busboys) was so courteous and friendly. Ask and you shall receive. Food are hit and missed. Filipino station was totally forgettable. Lamb rack was tender and flavorful. The best station for me was the grilled fresh seafood. Pampano was grilled to perfection and well seasoned. The chef even deshelled the shrimps and cooked with butter and garlic, every pc of shrimp was fresh and crunchy. Desserts were just so so.
BDO cards 40% off and Metrodeal promo are still ongoing.
A few friends and I decided to have an early Sunday buffet here since the selections are great and of high quality. It’s also decently priced for a buffet and even though I’m not a buffet person, I don’t mind eating here as they have a few items I like to indulge on. The decor is beautiful and the atmosphere is comfortable. Service is also top notch.
Tried their lunch buffet a couple of times and happy to see some variations in their selection. What I loved the most is freshness of their shrimp dishes. Overall food was great despite the limited selection. Price is quite reasonable especially after the discounts they offer from time to time.
Number of times visited: more than 2X
Parking: Hotel parking/nearby malls
Food: This is my other top favorite in Metro Manila breakfast buffets. There are a lot of food choices, from Filipino to continental ones, and so on! They have a juice bar where you could ask them to customize your own - just give them your choice of fruit and veggies.
They also have natto (traditional Japanese breakfast)! Although I'm not really into natto, so far, they are the only buffet breakfast I've seen serving it.
Price: Breakfast is complimentary when you are checked-in the hotel. However, if you're just going there for the breakfast - it's quite expensive but the experience is worth it.
Service: Attentive, polite.
Place: Quite spacious. I love the lay-out also of the buffet area. Easy to go around.
Repeat: Surely!
We had an overnight stay at the hotel and a complimentary breakfast buffet at Cafe 1228. I love their buffet spread - they have many dishes to choose from. And they have Danggit which I rarely see at other breakfast buffets. And it’s cooked perfectly! I think I returned twice just to get that. Aside from the usual egg that they cook according to your preference, they also serve salted egg. For something sweet, they have taho. I really enjoyed their food selections.
Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, and Western cuisine. Cafe 1228 offers different types of food selection in their buffet. I availed their 50% off Dinner buffet through Metrodeal. Food was delicious! Service was perfect, the waiters are very kind and attentive. We also availed their unlimited wine for only 599. Value for money is worth it. My dining experience here is perfect!
Food is very good 5 stars!, ambiance and atmosphere is relaxed and private, staff are polite and Attentive. Buffet selection is not that plenty as compared to mall buffet wannabes but quality is premium! fresh sweet oysters dip in olive oil and Italian red wine vinegar, true premium rack of lamb, humus, anchovies in olive oil, green olives, pickled garlic, to name a few appetizers 😍 best Laksa tasted! deserts are awesome bread pudding with cream, crepe station deserve a special mention filling is also 5 stars
Raspberry and Strawberry, peaches and banana cream ! 😍 cakes were also of fine quality, 😍 using my BDO Card gave me 50% off the regular ff o y xc i price, which was really worth the 1299 price although drinks not included but who needs drinks when the food is so rich and sumptuous, nevertheless tea and brewed coffee is free this place is a winner in terms of quality and ambiance no crowding and elbow to elbow cues racing who gets the first whole serving of oysters and shrimps on his plate!😅😅 a true 5 star hotel dining experience.
Dining here is superb! Well organized and foods were all well arranged. You can feel the presence of the staff especially the chef as well. Very nice experience!
Happy Birthday to me! Last October 28,2017 my fiancee and I decided to celebrate my 30th birthday at New World Makati Hotel located in Makati City.
Sobrang ganda ng hotel and also the Cafe! For me ito ang the best buffet of all buffet's na nakainan namin. Masasarap pa ung mga dishes dito and accomodating ang mga staff and greet nila lahat with a smile. Sana lahat ng restaurant naka smile ang mga staff. Unlike vikings ung ibang staff naka simangot. Though I know pagod na din sila. Anyways. Gustong gusto ko dito. Masaya mag birthday dito kasi nag prepare sila ng birthday cake for you and a song. Sobrang nakakatouch lang din.
Must try dito. God bless 😘
The service is nice, the food are 5 stars. The place is nice too because the ambience is great. Lots of food category to choose from, and all of them are freshly cooked. Great dessert buffet. The price is honest and you will find it super worth it!! 👍
Place is small compared to other hotel buffets. Serves not as much but you can definitely enjoy the seafood area if you’re craving for one. Sashimi was soggy, noodle soup lacks taste, lamb was hard to chew but their service is good! Even the chefs will offer help! One thing I truly admire is their seafood area cause they serve crabs and shrimps very fresh. I hope they managed to widen the buffet selection.. too pricy for just a small place.
Dined at Cafe 1228 for Sunday Brunch. My favorites from the buffet were the salad station and the coldcuts section. I also enjoyed the lava cake and the crepes from the dessert table. Glad that they also included iced tea in the buffet.
Filipinos love buffets... There are many hotel and restaurant chains that are alive and well capitalizing on this sweet spot.
Enter Cafe 1228. This restaurant has been around for sometime. It might not be as popular as Spiral, Cafe Ilang-Ilang, or Heat, it still offers great food choices. They offer a wide range of international dishes and an extensive seafood selection.
We were able to enjoy 2 days of breakfast and their NYE dinner buffet. Holidays are a peak season, so reservations are a must! In case of the hotel breakfast, the earlier the better; the place gets packed.
For breakfast, you can expect the usual suspects-- bacon (lots of it!), tapa, longganisa for meat. The usual cheeses, sushi selection, egg & congee stations, as well as fruits & juices are all available. Different kinds of bread (danish, muffins, croissant) with spreads to tempt you. I didn't really like the taho they were serving-- it had an odd aftertaste. Other than that, I really had no complaints.
For NYE dinner, they brought their A-game. This is also reflected on the price.😂 All-you-can-eat scallops, shrimps, crabs, oysters, tuna, lamb, ribeye steak, salami & Jamon Iberico. Wear clothes with some give!😂 Their Caesar salad was a slam dunk for me. Another highlight was their lamingtons-- really fluffy and delicious!😍 Their macarons, molten lava cake, and tres leches cake will make you postpone your diet for another day. My husband loved their pasta station, where he asked for the truffle and mushroom pasta. There were things I could no longer try, like their lechon! I was seriously sweating afterwards-- from all the food! Super busog! I felt like it was worth the price of admission.
They do have promos and tie-ups with credit card companies (though we didn't get to avail of it during our visit). I think it's a great contender in the battle of the hotel buffets!👍🏻 It's only your waist line that will lose!😅

If there's a common notion about Christmas, it's that it's the time of the year when everyone gains weight from all the gatherings, reunions, and dinners we attend to celebrate the holidays. I am not exempted from this popular opinion, as my boyfriend and I indulge in the spread of dishes Cafe 1228 has to offer.
Amazing staff accommodation! Lots of choices for seafood section and Japanese sushi. I hope they would offer Steak during weekday lunch or dinner buffet especially if it’s a holiday. Would be nice to offer unlimited beverages apart from tea and coffee.
It's been my favorite buffet restaurant in the Philippines for years now. Great ambiance, great variety of food selections, great quality and taste of food, great coffee! Pricey but considering the above compliments, its worth every penny.

Nice plate of desserts at their dinner buffet. Got vouchers from Metrodeal hahaha
Totally worth the discount, just don't forget to place a reservation first. Nice ambience here, steak done to my liking. Great service
Went here for my mom's birthday celebration (July 2017) and used the BDO discount (50% off on dinner buffet) and it was around P1,100 each excluding tax. Customers should also check Deal Grocer or Metrodeal because I know they also have discounts there.
First, parking was easy. You can park in the hotel, just ask for a parking stub at Cafe 1228 before you leave so that it'll be for free. Traffic can be bad though so make sure to go early to avoid it.
Ambiance. The place was nice! Not so grand and extravagant but enough to give you the luxurious feeling. People were also decent and well groomed. I wouldn't say it's a romantic place but it'll be a good resto to celebrate certain occasions. Best for quiet and simple dining for birthdays or what nots with family, friends, or even love ones.
Service. The service was swell! Waiters were there back and forth whenever you're done with your food. They were very accommodating and kind! They took our pictures and were happy enough to answer our questions regarding the promo they have.
Food. Food were good too! More than what I expected! They have Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, And European! They had Ramen, Seafood, Meat, and desserts area! Definitely better than buffet places not located in hotels! They tasted amazing too! Wasn't able to try their drinks though since they weren't included in their promo.
Overall verdict. I'm giving this place a 4.5 because I really had a great time! Would have given a 5 if I was able to taste some of their drinks! Haha! I would recommend people to visit this place to have a good celebration! Cheers!
Enjoyed every moment of our Saturday Lunch Buffet.. plus is that we got this at a good deal when we purchased it. Soup was magnificent. I did not realize capsicum would be heavenly in a soup. We were amazed they served Rib Eye Steak with all the delicious sauces. Pizza was also good. I admire the presentation of the rows of sushi, generous servings, prepared and ready to be enjoyed.
Seafood area was amazing, get your own raw sea delicacies and have it cooked that way you want it. Dessert was fantastic, left room for dessert and I enjoyed Chocolate Lava and Ice Cream.
Food servers, waiter/waitress, line cooks and reception were all friendly and accommodating. They were nice and took good care of us. Will definitely return to this buffet. :)

The buffet selection was amazing, I had 5 rounds because it was that good. The drinks are a let down. But still the food was superb! The steak was really juicy. Ramen was amazing, and I ate lots of sushi. Probably I ate around 10 😂
Stayed at the hotel and availed of the buffet breakfast at Cafe 1228. It may not be as grand as some of the newly opened hotels peppering the Manila bay and the new high rising hotels around New World but Cafe 1228 can hold its own when it comes to the breakfast offerings. The good thing about the breakfast here was the fact that it's not overwhelming that you don't know where to start. There's a lot, don't get me wrong, but it's a well thought breakfast offering, that's more stomach filling for me than just an eye candy for display.
One can never fault the professionalism of the staff and the prompt assistance to diners. I was literally sleep walking in getting my food and when one of the waitstaff saw this, he immediately assisted me, and told me to just tell him what I wanted so he could bring to my table. That was one service rated A+! I don't know if the management is still under Mr. Farid Schoucair, if it is, I wouldn't be surprised that the staff are well trained and sincerely welcomingly.
I didn't take any photos since I'm no morning person and therefore didn't even remember these things until this review :)
We were here to celebrate my daughter's graduation. Reserving a table a few weeks before was easy, and the reservations team was very helpful and responsive.
The physical set up is gorgeous, because the distance between each set of tables and chairs has the right amount of space making it easy for diners to move around. There was hardly a line in any of the stations. Soft lighting added an intimate feel even if it's not fine dining.
This is not my first hotel buffet experience. I, therefore, expected service to be above par. What surprised me though was how the staff anticipated my needs as a diner. For example, used plates were immediately removed and eating utensils replaced even before you call their attention. This more than exceeded my expectations.
Almost all the food I tasted deserve a perfect rating. I love the size of their shrimp, oysters, and the idea that you can ask them to cook it for you, baked or butter garlic. The lechon was very soft with crispy skin. The only thing I did not like was the Beef Shank carving. It was soft, but I still had a hard time chewing it. It was probably due to the texture of the beef.
Food selection was also just right for me. All my buffet staples like Sushi and sausage were there. I did not need to look for more. Here's what some people don't know. Food quality in hotels are better than buffets we frequent at the malls. For starters, the shrimp in hotels are class A ( yes, class ratings exist in food) as compared to the shrimps mall buffets offer. Of course, you also pay for quality service and ambience of the hotel.
I used a discount voucher and at half the price, it was worth it. With or without a discount, I would definitely come back to dine here again.

Cafe 1228 has a promo going on right now — if you have a BDO credit card, you get 50% off the buffet rate and a free round of drinks. You can choose between iced tea, soda, and juices. This promo is valid from now until Sept. 30, 2017.
My friends and I decided to try it out. The dinner buffet normally costs P2,499 per person. With 50% off, it’s down to P1,262.
It’s the usual hotel buffet with a wide range of appetizers, main courses, and desserts. The place is rather dim but all the food stations are well-lighted. They have all the usual stuff -- sushi, sashimi, tempura, salads, dimsum, cold cuts, pasta, carving station, seafood, etc... their short order dishes are of different ethnicities (American, Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Spanish, etc).
Though the selection is more modest compared to other hotels (they have less dishes than Vikings), I quite enjoyed dinner. I don’t eat as much as I used to so I thought it was okay. Definitely good value for money at P1+k. Paying the regular P2.5k for it would be too much though. Buffet menu changes daily so it’s never exactly the same.
I find this better than Shang in BGC. Though they almost have the same range of food variety, they cook their buttered seafood with love compared to others. The buffet doesn't include bottomless drinks where you'll need to pay at least 400Php more per head for it. Best pizza I ever tasted in a buffet though.
Spent lunch here and compared to the other hotels I've been to, i must say that it was not that massive for the buffet options. Though the servers and food were great, maybe this hotel can expand their varieties. Nonetheless, kudos! Specially to ms. Heidi who assisted us during our stay. Thank you! ☆
My husband got a buffet voucher for 2 for his 5 year service. We had to choose from four and I chose this place based on reviews and we were not disappointed. Food may not be as plenty as other would assume but we always value quality over quantity. I am looking forward to dining here soon!
Overall, I think that the price of Php 2,499 is not worth the experience. To think that I paid almost only half of the actual price because of a discount voucher, I was still disappointed. I could use the money that I would pay for this cafe on other affordable all you can eat restaurants with better food quality and more food choices.
I am one of the luckier ones who was able to avail of their metrodeal buffets at half the price, and it was a delight for me to dine with one of my good friends here after my bday. There was enough selections for me not to be overwhelmed with the selections and I'm definitely gonna be back here in this place if there are value for money deals once more.

Capping up this year's romantic date with a dinner buffet in a deluxe hotel!
Called hours before for reservation. Normally you would call in days before. At first, they told me it was already full. Not even walk-ins are to be acommodated. But I said we will be spending something special, and that we really deserved a time-off from work. So the host gladly gave us a table...
...a table that we thought was located in corner, but nu-uh! We were located few steps from the buffet table.
They had a lot of stations:
Japanese - I am in love with this station. Not all buffet hotels offer EDAMAME on their buffet table. EDAMAME IS LOVE.
They also have agedashi tofu, cold soba, lots of sushi and sashimi to choose from, tempura and miso soup.
American - turkey, short ribs, beef and lamb chops for grill, pizza and other cooked meat. You can have your choice of pasta cooked too.
Filipino - a lot of dishes too! But not a fan of this station, but I saw some Bulalo and Kare Kare. Lol
French-Italian - NEXT BEST THING TO JAPANESE. I love love love their cured meats and cheeses! Super love the Camembert (so creeeaaaaaaamy and cheeeeeesy). Their cured meats were not to smelly too! They offer a lot of dried fruit and nuts, as well as bread sticks and crusty bread. On the far side of the table, they also have native sweets and few indian dishes.
Chinese - dimsun, dumplings, noodles. I really really liked their freshly cooked fish. They cooked 3 types of fish for us, they were boneless, and super tasty (which was cooked only with oyster sauce, butter and garlic).
Cold-Seafood, Salad and Fruits - they have shrimps and crabs. A lot of salad bowls to choose from. Fruits wear seasonal too, but too full to eat fruits haha.
Crepe wih Gelato Station - their gelato, I think is home-made or they churn their own Ice cream. Love the vanilla and strawberry. Too full to try their crepe huhu.
Dessert - sooooo many to choose from. Very rich and authentic flavores. Love the strawberry mouse and mango panna cotta. Their red velvet cake was also a thumbs up! But the winner of the dessert station, the choco lava cake, which is really dark, warm and gooeey.
Beverage - soda, juices and wine are for sale, and not part of the buffet price.
The place is dim-lit (just enough), with a friendly hosts and waiters, ergonomically (hahaha) or strategically located buffet tables, and cool temperature. Perfect for celebrating dates and reunions with family and friends!
Regular price of the buffet is 2,500 pesos. I have to say IT IS WORTH YOUR MONEY (except for the beverage buffet huhu). Our guts were really full. Though we are doctors and this is not true or will never actually happen, we really had it up to our throats!
If I could rate it at 7, or 8, or 9 perhaps?? I really would.

Gatherings with friends have been a rarity these days because of our busy schedules. As such, we always make it a point to make our occasional meet ups celebratory. And what better way to do it than to have a good lunch buffet, which had brought us to Cafe 1228, New World Hotel’s signature restaurant.

Chef Robert Davis cooked up a storm at the 70th anniversary of Philippine-Australia diplomatic relations gala dinner a few days ago. The crowd favourite: the pan-seared baramundi over pasta. It was absolutely perfect.
Cafe 1228 has been renovated with modern interiors, it's a bit warm most likely because of the open kitchen layout. They have several stations of International dishes and a dessert station. They offer on the spot cooking and they also have a carving station.
They have 3 kinds of hams and 4 cheeses. They're just ok, I always look forward to great tasting hams and chesses in hotels though. They have caesar salad, prawns, crabs and I liked that they have herring. The prawns are all huge and fresh.
Japanese station is the usual tempuras, teriyaki, sushi/sashimi. They offer 4 kinds of ramen. The cooked dishes are OK. The grilled chicken with blackened pepper is really good- tender and juicy. Their carving station served excellent roast porkloin and leg of lamb.
The dessert station looks delicious but tastes so-so. The best tasting desserts are brownie with macadamia, creme brulee, mango cheesecake. Got sad with their sansrival. Their ice cream are not homemade.
For the price I expected more. Anyway, it's still a good place to try. Oh before I forget, their table is very bare. When you get there, you'll only see a salt and pepper mills, napkin a fork, a knife, a spoon. No placemat or anything. The utensils are laid on the table not even on top of the napkin. It looks unsanitary. I suggest they present their table better.
One of the best breakfast buffet i had in a long time.
It was a last minute thing that i agreed to this breakfast and it was worth the time and effort.lol well, food always is!
Great selection to choose from and i must say i love their salad bar! Their pastries were a delight too and who doesnt want to just eat something that's so close to our hearts, so i love the choices they have on their asian bar.
The service from their staff was one of the highlights as they're all attentive. Looking forward to try their dinner buffet one of these days.
Buffet in Cafe 1228 is still one of the best! Their selection of seafood, meat in the carving station and desserts are definitely worth it! My family and friends love it here.
Scallops were awesome but Pantry of Dusit's better. Love the dessert station.... but I prefer the fruit tarts of Marriott's. Nonetheless, I would definitely come back here.
They have modern and tasteful interiors that breathes space and quite calming. The buffet options are limited but good enough to provide the basic choices I opt for. The food is about average, factoring in the cost, I'd expected a little more. Service on the otherhand is excellent, very attentive wait staff. Overall, they deserve a passing rate.
The true winner here for me is the smoothie. You can choose your fruit or veggie then they make fresh juice for you. My first for me so I'm quite impressed.
They are pretty complete too. The egg maker for your omelette choice. Cheese plate. The pancake or waffle maker. Japanese. Fruits. Salad. Chinese. Filipino. American.European.

Their Rib Eye Steak and Pork Ribs are truly delectable and tender juicy, thanks to its tasteful marinade. Was satisfied too with their selection of Japanese makis and Pinoy dishes, served warm and tasteful. Desserts were basically okay too. Good food, good ambiance, good service. Could have been better if they offer more dishes on their buffet table.
If you're going on a staycation in New World Makati, then your reservation probably includes breakfast at Cafe 1228. Since we always travel with our kids, I always look for kid-friendly hotels and I have to say, New World Makati is one of the best we've been to. Aside from the delicious food served at Cafe 1228, I applaud the restaurant and hotel staff for being able to deal with our little ones quite well! Knowing that kids have short attention spans, they made sure service is quick and that the kids are entertained. We will definitely be back!
Went to this place for dinner with my friends. The place was good. Great ambience and attentive staffs.
I ordered the rib eye steak and grilled in medium-well. The order arrived more than 20 minutes. The rib eye was in a big portion. They served it on a ceramic plate along with fried potatoes and grilled vegetables. I asked for the black pepper sauce to furnished my steak.
The rib eye was juicy and professionally cooked. It tasted great even without the sauce. Four thumbs for the chef.
Our New Year's Eve lunch was at this buffet at New World Makati Hotel. The first impressions of the place showed class, especially where we were seated at an elevated booth type area made the ambiance more awesome. The place is very modern looking with plenty of spacing between all the food stations. So extra rating points for this.
With regards to the food specialities they have a good mix of Filipino, American, Asian and European. I've recently been to several awesome buffet's so the standards are pretty high in terms for comparisons. Now I tried nearly all the foods available and most were good. Some of the foods seemed a little over cooked, oily and just had no taste at all.
The Filipino food had some good points especially the sautéed shrimp with tomato and ginger and the kalderetang kambing. In the American section the one that stood above the rest was the lamb chops for me. They had an awesome variety of desserts so this certainly was my main highlight besides above. All in all for the price, I feel quality could have been better as I have been to some other buffets, yes need to pay a fee hundreds extra however I know for certain the quality is just the at another level.
Good selection of cuisines:
~ Filipino, Japanese, Italian
I'd go back for the
~ salmon belly sinigang
~ sushi, sashimi
~ parma ham
~ grilling station for seafood
~ meat carving station
and of course, dessert!
~ sherbet, ice cream, pannacotta, choco opera cake, the other choco cake... and the Mango cheesecake!
~ baked mac with loads of cheese
-Excellent and quick service.
-has wide variety to cater to your taste and whim
-perfect balance of afforability and excellence in food
-nice ambiance
-offers Filipino, Italian, Japanese, American, Indian cuisine.
-also offers fresh seafood for grilling
-I always look forward to their dessert station as they offer the best Mango Cheesecake in town
-perfect for family gatherings or sweet anniversary meals
It was my first time here at Cafe 1228.. At first I find it very interesting.. Hmmmm their food was good but nothing really special.. I like the place itself because it's very spacious. They have different cuisines; Chinese, Japanese, Italian and many more but limited choices of food tho..
Annnnnddddd lastly there's always room for dessert! I liked their dessert bar! Too many choices to choose from.
Follow @CHEFFYMITCHYU on Instagram for more food photos and to discover new restaurants in the metro.
Wide food selection and awesome grill station. Some standout dishes were their ribeye, cold lobsters and jumbo shrimps (you can have it heated at the grill station. I asked for mine to be cooked in garlic butter and it was delicious!), and japanese food. Their desserts were fabulous as well. Staff were accomodating. Overall a very satisfying feast and may be worth it's price if you have P2,200 to spare.
My two cousins just graduated awhile ago. So we celebrate dinner here in New World Hotel Cafe. In my opinion, there were many foods to choose from. Just like any buffet, there's american, japanese, filipino and european cuisine. It's delicious and fantastic. When it comes to food, it's better to eat little by little. So we don't get full easily. Eating food and chatting with family is the best dining experience. For now, i better eat the dessert here. Oh yeah, the fabulous staff here is very accommodating. I like their work ethics, the staff were focus and kind. :D
one of the hotel buffet that serves the best angus beef and lamb chops in makati city... Not so many choices though unlike other known hotel buffet but certainly their quality and the ambiance will make it a good dining experience... 😊
Had dinner here with friends, since we wanted to have buffet for dinner. I was expecting a bit more since it's as costly as fairmont. The choices are not bad though. They have enough variety to satisfy your cravings. The desserts are fantastic, i give that to them. But others are just normal. The buffet costs at around 2,250 per person without drinks so if you get drinks you have to add about 400 for that. I like the ambiance, quiet and very classic.
Every hotel has their signature cafe. New World's stands out despite its smaller range of choices. The food choices they have are all goooood. And the dessert station is easily their star. Must try if you feel like binging!
Directly across Greenbelt 3, Cafe 1228 offers a specialty buffet. Ambiance is cool and classy. The buffet includes steaks, seafood grill, a variety of bread, desert and more. The desert has cakes and whatnot, including Churros. Although, churros are a bit stale when I had the chance to eat it. Otherwise, everything else tastes terrific. Perfect for dining out with families, business meetings, or just hanging with old friends.
Amazing variety of food with class. The staffs are friendly too! My favorites in the breakfast buffet are the chinese section, steak and dessert station.
This restaurant offers guests an extensive buffet and interactive live-cooking stations, also for all-day dining from breakfast until dinner. The dish choices are thoughtful and international, and include steaks and grills, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, pizza, noodle soup, and local delicacies. I really love the wonton noodle soup . Staff is attentive and accomodating and guests are served swiftly. Price is also affordable. Will definetely be back
As a surprisingly regular to buffets (not by my choice), I've had the opportunity to try out the various buffets in and around the area. Although Cafe 1228 does not have as large a selection as some of the other buffets, I have found myself visiting this particular buffet more often than others (not entirely by my own choice either).
What Cafe 1228 has going for it is its environment. Located in New World Makati Hotel, the restaurant (which makes me wonder why it's called 'cafe') is situated on the ground floor and takes up a significant amount of space with its large tables and open areas by the buffet. I personally cannot find a complaint with their polished wooden tables and comfortable seating, nor their style and decor (modern Asian design) that gives the entire place a open and full of 'natural' light feel to it. However, I have been there once when the air-conditioning wasn't working and that was a difficult experience (but 3 out of 4 ain't bad).
You're probably wondering what the food is like. Well, it's about what you'd expect. Sushi, Seafood, Chinese station, pasta station, meat station, salad station, and a dessert station. As mentioned above, it's actually not as big as some of the other buffets that I have been to. It doesn't have an independent cheese room, nor a large sashimi/sushi selection. There isn't a row of drinks that are included and not even a fondue fountain. But what it has going for it, is the quality of their food. Perhaps I am biased, yet Cafe 1228 proves that more isn't always better. Where else can you find Mashed Potatoes with Truffle Oil? When would you ever consider having some Gnocchi pasta if you were avoiding carbs at a buffet? Not to mention that this is the only place someone I know eats vegetables because of the availability of Ratatouille. As friends and family have mentioned to me before, what people like about Cafe 1228 are particular dishes that just aren't found in other buffets. For instance, the beef and lamb meatball I had was delicious and something I went back to a few times at one visit. The taste of the lamb was strong and distinct and you just don't find lamb very often (or done very well) in other places.
Not to say that there aren't downsides to Cafe 1228. Having been there more than once, there has been noticeable changes in the buffet (meaning certain things aren't always offered). Sometimes, the quality of certain dishes aren't as high as you would have wished. Also, there is a lack of drinks included with the buffet (although next time, I might just get the calamansi sorbet they offer and drink that instead).
All in all, it is one of the few buffets that I have returned to due to its popularity among my family and friends. Cafe 1228 has thus far always served at least one dish that I have found to be satisfying and worth my visit each time I have been there. Although I wouldn't mind a bit more consistency, who am I to complain? I should mention that it is not cheap to eat at, however, there are promos that allow me to eat for more or less, for half price (hence making it affordable and worth going to). If you happen to qualify for promos that cuts the price to around PhP 1000, then I would definitely recommend that you consider coming to Cafe 1228 as it has quality dishes and an overall enjoyable dining experience.
The ambiance of this place is really soothing and sleek; dim warm ceiling lights, and most of the place's lightsource is from the buffet displays. Mmmm...
Now to the food, there may not be that much variety on the food available on the buffet area, most of them were pretty good. Their beef and lamb meatballs were very good. And I...kinda hoarded their cold meats section, especially the Prosciutto. Mmmhmmm.

Immensely enjoyed the buffet at cafe 1228.
The buffet spread may not be as lavish as other hotels but the food is an even balance of cooked classics and grill specialties. Loved the prime rib and the pasta station which also serves gnocchi. I loved the big prawns that you can ask them to grill. Service though, is a bit slow but the food is great
I stayed in the New World Makati hotel during my trip in the Philippines. Those were five days well spent. Now before I digress and start writing a hotel review, I will quickly move on to my review for this restaurant. It is the main restaurant of the hotel where most hotel guests have their meals. It is the most popular one by the number of visitors that come here. I had five breakfasts and one dinner over here.
We chose to have buffets every time since buffets really seem like this restaurant's finest feature. Spread over a large area across many lanes and islands is the colossal buffet platter. Whether you are a carnivore like me or a vegetarian, there is something for everyone. There is absolutely no one in the world who won’t find at-least one of their preferred foods over here. Many meats, veggies, fruits and so much more. Major cuisines such as Asian, Filipino, Continental and American. It is almost like an epicurean grand fantasy. Add to that the fact that the platter changes every day. There was something new to be tried every meal.
The dinner platters appear to be much larger than the breakfast spreads but it is basically comparing two maximums. I enjoyed Sushi the most which was genuine and did not feel like an imitation. It may have not been as good as Jirosan's sushi but it certainly was good.
Soups, pasta, pizza, Adobo (pork and Chicken),local fish preparations, international fish preparations, several noodle preparations, several rice preparations and the list goes on. The dessert spread is quite large during dinner times. Colorful and tasty Fruit sushis, cheesecakes, pastries, chocolate cakes, Local fruits, exotic fruits to name a few. The platter was so large that even after taking a small portion of many desserts, I could not try everything.
During breakfast, I had a different fruit juice every day. They serve freshly brewed Coffee but I am not quite a coffee person. Being from India, we have tasted several varieties of mangoes native to us. Thus, Philippines mango which was available in the breakfast platters was a mango that we had never tried before. I think I was fortunate to be here in the right season and eat fresh slices of the mango. The taste was distinctively different from what we are used to India.
The restaurant gets quite crowded during meal times but still serves as a comforting spot. The ambiance looks ordinary during the day but its true colors are revealed in the night. It looks absolutely stunning and beautiful with the golden lights at night. This has to be one of my best restaurant experiences anywhere.
The staff is attentive, friendly and pleasant. Always smiling and diligent. I have had a lot of good memories from here.
The pricing can be high since it is a big hotel but the restaurant offers a five star meal experience. With a little more work, this restaurant almost has a potential of making it to Michelin grade. Highly recommended. Worth a visit.
Food 5/5
Service 5/5
Ambiance 5/5
Had a quick lunch here last week and, I must say, I will definitely come back. Food here is really good and worth every peso. It's seldom that you find a variety of Filipino dishes being served especially in hotels of this caliber, but they even have adobong pusit and afritada! The staff was very proactive and anticipated our every need. Keep up the good work!
Easily a breakfast favourite in makati! Great spread and service. For ambience try getting a table in the inner bar/lounge area with more comfortable setting and jazz music playing softly in the background. Now that is how I would like to start a lazy day. Foodwise there is a mix of asian and continental options. Though I have mostly tried the continental everytime I was here and could come here everyday for their fresh fruit smoothies, rosti and desserts. Also the spread is much more elaborate than many five-stars in the vicinity.
Mornings are great for meetings. One of the nearest hotels that we often go to for breakfast meetings is the New World Hotel Makati, which houses Cafe 1228.
The first thing that was served to us was their brewed coffee. Every table got to have their own small pot of coffee and promptly refilled by the attentive servers around you. The coffee was not too strong which I like and not too watered down.
We didn't avail of the buffet breakfast and ordered ala carte to have more time for discussion.
I had one of their breakfast specialties, pancakes! Their pancakes came with fresh banana, maple syrup, and whipped cream, but I requested for blueberry compote instead of banana. The plate that was served to me was really huge; I had a hard time clearing some table space for it. :) I never imagined that a single order will consist of two humongous fluffy pancakes that were two times bigger than my face! The butter that had melt down and colors of purple from the compote whetted my appetite. It was such a sweet delight, no use for any maple syrup. We also ordered a basket of bread for sharing. I still had some blueberry to spread on those freshly baked goodies.
The cafe itself was bright enough as streams of sunlight came peeking inside. I have never tried staying at the hotel, now I think I might consider having a staycation in the city and sample their buffet.
